The college was established in 1954 after leading Gujarati businessman Rasiklal Khushaldas Patell persuaded a Jesuit high school principal to start a college in Ahmedabad.
Birla College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Kalyan, a multi faculty premier institution of higher learning, with an enrolment of more than 9,500 students (5,500 for UG, PG and Research Programmes) is affiliated to the University of Mumbai. The College was established in 1972, by Kalyan Citizens’ Education Society with the blessings of Syt. B. K. Birla ji and Late Smt. Sarala ji Birla.
Birla College offers several Under Graduate and Post Graduate Programmes in Arts, Science and Commerce and Ph. Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandir is an autonomous degree college affiliated to the University of Calcutta. Established in 1941, it has 72 academic staff.
