International yoga day

21st June is celebrated as international yoga day. It has been celebrated since 2015. The idea was proposed by our honourable indian prime minister Shri Narendra Modi ji to celebrate yoga day anually. The reason behind celebrating yoga day is to spread the awareness about importance and benefits of yoga to our body.

Yoga has originated in India at rishikesh which is situated on the bank of holy river Ganga. The word Yoga means to join or unite. Yoga not only keeps our body healthy but also our mind. Yoga can be done by people of any age group, however there are different yogas for differently aged people.

The best time to do yoga is in the morning before having breakfast. Yoga strengths our body, makes it flexible, helps loose body fat making us fit, vanishes pain, helps to cure many diseases to much extent. Yoga helps to keep our mind calm even in difficult situations, making it tension free and stress free. However, it is advised for women to avoid doing yoga in the starting days of mensuration. Yoga helps in decreasing the side effects during menopause such as sleeping inefficiency, sweating, weak memory, hypertension etc.

There are many different yoga poses and they have their different benefits, and according to our body need and ease,
we can select the type of yoga which we can do daily. We should do yoga atleast 5 days in a week for good results.
It’s a myth that yoga is not intense as heavy exercise but in actual there are many yoga poses which are as intense as heavy exercise, exercise only keeps our body healthy from outside but yoga keeps our body healthy from outside as well as from inside and boosts our immune system. The most important thing in yoga is to perform them in the right way otherwise they won’t show much good effects.

For beginners, in the starting they may feel pain for some days due to stretch in muscles and joints, however it will vanish soon. Beginners should start by doing simple yoga poses and it should not exceed beyond their capabilities, and soon they will get used to by doing it regularly with a proper schedule.
