Meant to be

Everyone present on this earth is here for a reason and purpose. As soon as that purpose is accomplished the person has to leave earth and shift to their heavenly abode.

That’s what life is like, each human being present on this earth plays an important role in someone’s life. Their role can be a main lead role, a side role or cameo role in someone’s life but there is a role that you have to play regardless of your choice.

There are some things which you can’t choose or control like you were born without your choice and you will die without your choice, you didn’t choose your parents, you didn’t choose the conditions in which you were born in and you didn’t choose the situations and people that come in your way, but all these things happen because they are meant to be happen you can’t make any alternation in them. The only thing in which you can make some alteration is your perspective toward things happening in your life because that’s the only thing which is in your authority.

The people who died in 2020 because of COVID-19, accidents, suicides etc . There purpose of being on earth fulfilled and they left for another life. I am in no way saying that they deserve this. No not at all they didn’t deserve this, they should have got the opportunity to live and enjoy their life to the fullest but they didn’t got why because god has other plans for them. They served their purpose, the death of people due to COVID-19 has forced the mankind to think how deadly human ignorance towards earth can be. It’s an alarming bell for humans that we should treat earth more delicately and cautiously otherwise we will face more pandemic like this in future and will once again lose our loved ones to our ignorance.

People dying due to suicide are forcing people to change their perspective towards mental health, it is wake up call for us which should be picked up because it is the need of the hour, it should be given utmost importance and changes in our behaviour towards others is also mandatory to stop more people from falling prey to suicide.

The role of leaders in this pandemic is forcing the masses to reconsider their choices of leaders. Their callous attitude towards public is a warning that we have chosen a wrong leader who in no way can understand and handle the problems of people.

All things happen in a person’s life according to God’s plan. It’s all because of his decisions, you achieve, you lose, you cry, you laugh but one thing that’s in your control is your reaction to every situation.

Life is always like that you don’t know what’s going to happen the very next moment, you don’t know whom you are going to meet and whom you are going to lose in the next hour. It’s a mystery and always will be.

House Sparrows: The Sudden Disappearance

They would be a pleasant sight to behold and the tiny creatures could bring a smile on one’s face, especially in the morning when one can spot them floating around in the balcony or courtyard and they would add beauty to a monotonous site, these petite birds are truly mesmerising to the eyes. They fill us with joy and can fill our hearts with happiness. But one can definitely notice their sudden disappearance in many areas. There are many reasons behind it.

Rise in greenhouse gases-

The rise in greenhouse gases has caused an increase in pollution which is one of the main causes for the disappearance. Sparrows cannot live in a disturbing environment as it affects their lives, infertility problems and also their health.

Noise pollution-

The rise in noise pollution de the increase in vehicular traffic or even machinery from industries contributes to their decrease in urban regions. Sparrows are sensitive to loud noises and hence like living in calm atmospheres with minimal noises which they can bear.

Infrastructure and Industrialization-

Rise in Infrastructure is one of the other problems as they won’t be able to build nests, even though they are social creatures they will only be able to build nests in trees, with modern infrastructure taking over their lives are hindered, they prefer open spaces unlike pigeons who can live a luxurious life even in apartment complexes.

Declining rate of greenery (trees)-

The declining rates of greenery specifically trees and tree felling is also one of the causes behind the decline in the rate of sparrows in urban areas, trees are an essential component in any sparrow’s life, as they build their nests on them and also live in them, tress can also become one of the sources to find food for themselves and without lush greenery it’s impossible for them to survive.

Chemical Components-

Increase in chemical products like use of pesticides and fertilizers can really irritate them and hence they can displace off to new places which are more home friendly, modernization has shown its effects along with many other factors in displacing sparrows away from urban sprawls. Sparrows are nature friendly creatures and can’t adapt themselves to the modern changes of society.

City life is continuously changing and for sparrows who love the best of both worlds that is a bit of wild nature along with the frenzy of the urban life cannot sustain in urban areas.

Most of us are under the impression that these species have become endangered and might be soon wiped out but according to the survey analysis certain ornithologists have concluded that’s not the case, these species have found a new place and they have displaced themselves to village areas, forests and lush green zones.

On the other hand there are many ornithologists who have concluded that their population has declined by 52% and hence they are being threatened by the changes in our surroundings. This instance of the house sparrow is a a good example of the effect which our ever changing environment has on us.

A tale of the prank that made history.

Pranks, they have been a staple in every strata of the society from a long time. The only difference being that the pranks of the so called “nobility” or the upper class tend to showcase their superiority and upper classmanship, while that of lower and middle class was viewed as “uncouth”. Usually pranks are often viewed as a fun filled frolic or by some as meddlesome and tiring, but one such prank brought forth many upsides. However, pranks no matter who plays, tend to be short lived, however today we talk about one such prank that went not for a decade or a century but rather played out till a whopping 400 years. This takes place when the Crusaders had started gaining momentum in Europe.

In 1165, a certain letter had started circulating throughout the western Europe. To view it now, we can clearly infer that it was a hoax, however people at that time believed it to be true. The letter spoke of a realm filled with mystical features, such as the Tower of Babel, The fountain of youth, with mystical weapons and animals within their arsenal. It mentioned that the mysterious and fabled land was ruled by the letter’s mysterious author: Prester John. This prank or hoax brought about an age of exploration, inspired an intercontinental diplomatic relation and rather sadly brought forth an civil war. This letter came forth during a time Europe Crusaders were trying to find Christian allies to serve in their war against the practitioners of “blasphemous” religions, mainly the Muslims and the Jews. They were fascinated by an army that had defeated a vast Muslim army in the far east. They were referring to the Mongol warriors that consisted of some converted Christians. However like all news spread by the means of words and stories, it spread unreliably and by the time it reached Europe, the story had changed the Mongol horde to a great Christian army full of soldiers with strength of biblical proportions, with a enigmatic ruler leading them with similar goals as the crusaders of marching to Jerusalem. This was the time the forged hoax of a letter reached the hands of the crusaders and despite its obvious European origin the appeal was too great for the crusaders to ignore. Thus, began a search for the mystical realm in the east that Prester john ruled. Soon they even reached Africa in search for Prester John’s ancestors. This was the time that Portuguese reached Ethiopia and found about a Christian kingdom, and with a mix of confusion and diplomacy the Portuguese thought they had encountered the fabled kingdom of Prester John. This happened nearly 350 years after the letter had instigated the search. A decade later when the sultanate of Adal attacked Ethiopia the Portuguese came as help, and soon realized that they weren’t the fabled kingdom they had pegged them to be. Worse still the increasingly intolerant roman catholic church had deemed the sect of Christianity found in Ethiopia as heresy. This sparked a civil war between the “ideal” Christians and the “Ethiopian” Christians and in the 1630s Ethiopia cut all ties with Europe. Over the next two centuries the legend of John’s kingdom faded to oblivion.

Thus, ends the tale of the medieval version of modern click-bait.

‘It Was As if We Weren’t Humans’- Inside the Modern Slave Trade

Libya is a country in the Maghreb region in north Africa, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea. It is the fourth largest country in Africa and sixteenth largest in the world. Libya became an independent Kingdom in 1951 and was ruled by king Idris I who was overthrown by a military coup in 1969 and the ‘bloodless’ coup leader Muammar Gaddafi ruled the country from 1969 until the 2011 Libyan civil war in which he was killed.

A brief history of slavery

Slavery can be traced back to many of the world’s oldest societies, from the “emergence of civilization” in Mesopotamia to ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, as well as the Mayan and Aztec empires.
Male prisoners of war and seized sailors became laborers; prerogative women became concubines and domestic servants; children were used as farm hands or to help around the house. The Arab slave trade flourished on the African continent.

The corridor from Africa’s most populous country to its northern Mediterranean shores has proved especially remunerative. As conflict, climate change and lack of opportunity push increasing numbers of people across borders.

A video of men in Libya being sold off for as little as $400 at an auction shocked the world and brought the much needed attention  at the plight of migrants and refugees in the north African country.

The slave trade of Libya

Libya is the main conveyance point for refugees and migrants trying to reach Europe through sea. According to International organization for migration, almost 150,000 people have made this dangerous journey across the sea of which 3000 people could not make it through . The Libyan Coast Guard, supported with funds from the UN and Italy cracked down on  boats smuggling refugees and migrants to Europe. With estimated 1 million people stuck in Libya, the detention centres are flooded and have ascending reports of rape, robbery and murder. The conditions in concentration camps are horrendous and make refugees vulnerable to being sold off as laborers in slave auctions.

How is Libya handling the crisis?

The U.N.backed Libyan government has launched a formal investigation into the allegations. But Libya is largely considered a failed state. Since Muammar Gaddafi, who ran the country for four decades, was ousted in 2011, the country has descended into civil war. A transitional government failed to implement rule of law in the country, which has shattered into several factions of militias, tribes, and gangs. In lawless Libya, many see the slave trade and smuggling as a lucrative industry and tackling the country’s humanitarian crisis will require international support.

Slavery may seem like a relic of history but according to the U.N.’s International Labor Organization, there are more than three times as many people in forced serfdom today. What the ILO calls “the new slavery” takes in 25 million people in debt bondage and 15 million in forced marriage. As an illegitimate industry, it is one of the world’s most remunerative, earning criminal networks $150 billion a year, just behind drug smuggling and weapons trafficking. Modern slavery is far and way more profitable now than at any point in human history.

The trade might be most noticeable in Libya, where aid organizations and journalists have documented actual slave auctions. But now it is seeping into southern Europe too—in particular Italy, where vulnerable migrants are being forced to toil unpaid in the fields picking tomatoes, olives and citrus fruits and peddled into prostitution rings.

How many slaves are there today, and who are they?

The word “slavery” summons images of shackles and transatlantic ships – depictions that seem relegated firmly to the past but more people are enslaved today than at any other time in history. Experts have calculated that roughly 13 million people were captured and sold as slaves between the 15th and 19th centuries; today, an estimated 40.3 million people are living in some form of modern slavery, according to the latest figures published by the UN’s International Labor Organization (ILO).Women and girls comprise 71% of all modern slavery victims. Children make up 25% and account for 10 million of all the slaves worldwide.

Where is this happening?

Statistically, modern slavery is most ubiquitous in Africa, followed by Asia and the Pacific, according to the Global Slavery Index, which publishes country-by-country rankings on modern slavery figures and government responses to tackle the issues.

What’s the difference between slavery and human trafficking?

Human trafficking is just one way of subjugating someone. Whereas centuries ago it was common for a slave trader to simply buy another human being and “own” that person as their property (which does still happen), today the practice is largely more insidious.

Trafficking involves the recruitment, transfer or obtaining of an individual through coercion, abduction, fraud or force to exploit them. That exploitation can range from forced labor to forced marriage or commercial sex work – and the exploiter can be anyone, including strangers, neighbors or family members. Most people are trafficked within their own countries, although they can also be trafficked abroad; most often the individual is trafficked into forced labor.

Strategy for resistance

What’s needed is to address the root causes. Poverty alone does not explain slavery. Roughly 700 million people meet the threshold of extreme poverty, the number of slaves is estimated to be 40 million. What distinguishes these 40 million from the other 700 million very poor? Slavery usually occurs when poverty is compounded by specific risk factors. These include an inability to assert basic human rights, lack of access to essential social and economic services (especially schools, health care and credit),the failure of the rule of law and, an absence of services for slavery survivors that leads to re-enslavement.

Libya is considered a failed state. After Gaddafi, the country has been in shambles due to the civil war and hence in lawless Libya, but what is really disheartening is that there are broken people with stories of barbarity and abuse, hoping to find a way out of it, waiting for help but unaware of the reality that there are too little people who care, too little ears to hear their stories and too little hands guided their way for help.

Three Elements of Trust

The Three Elements of Trust

By understanding the behaviors that underlie trust, leaders are better able to elevate the level of trust that others feel toward them. Here are the three elements.

Positive Relationships. Trust is in part based on the extent to which a leader is able to create positive relationships with other people and groups. To instill trust a leader must:

  • Stay in touch on the issues and concerns of others.
  • Balance results with concern for others.
  • Generate cooperation between others.
  • Resolve conflict with others.
  • Give honest feedback in a helpful way.

Good Judgement/Expertise. Another factor in whether people trust a leader is the extent to which a leader is well-informed and knowledgeable. They must understand the technical aspects of the work as well as have a depth of experience. This means:

  • They use good judgement when making decisions.
  • Others trust their ideas and opinions.
  • Others seek after their opinions.
  • Their knowledge and expertise make an important contribution to achieving results.
  • Can anticipate and respond quickly to problems.

Consistency. The final element of trust is the extent to which leaders walk their talk and do what they say they will do. People rate a leader high in trust if they:

  • Are a role model and set a good example.
  • Walk the talk.
  • Honor commitments and keep promises.
  • Follow through on commitments.
  • Are willing to go above and beyond what needs to be done.

This platform makes the player acknowledged to whole world. That why it is so so important part of any athlete. Every athlete has a dream to get the medals at Olympic.

This time Japan is organising country of this event. But the situation of COVID 19 also affects there too. But we should expect if any of the country manages to make a good vaccine for it in coming months. Then may be at end of this year, the Olympic show must go on………

BENEFITS OF BETTER SLEEP.

Sleep. It’s technically a daily habit that should come naturally to us. Yet somehow, it’s so hard to get it right.

One night you’re tossing and turning for hours, hoping that your mind will eventually shut down. The next, you’re asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow, sleeping through your alarm and spending all day in a haze. There’s nothing worse than trying to plow through a full day at work when all you want to do is crawl under your desk and steal a nap.

Fortunately, we have plenty of advice to help you fall asleep—and fast—so that all of your hours on the pillow actually count.

Getting enough sleep is essential for helping a person maintain optimal health and well-being. When it comes to their health, sleep is as vital as regular exercise and eating a balanced diet.

Lower risk of heart disease

One risk factor for heart disease is high blood pressure. According to the centers for disease control and prevention (CDC), getting adequate rest each night allows the body’s blood pressure to regulate itself.

Doing so can reduce the chances of sleep-related conditions such as apnea and promote better overall heart health.

More social and emotional intelligence

Sleep has links to people’s emotional and social intelligence. Someone who does not get adequate sleep is more likely to have issues with recognizing other people’s emotions and expressions.

Laughter is the best medicine!

“A laugh is a smile that bursts.” – American writer, Mary H. Waldrip

Laughter is a core part of our everyday life. It is impossible to worry while laughing. Humor helps us cope, conquer, and carry on. It has been called social glue because it bonds us to the people we laugh with. It strengthens our relationships by triggering positive feelings and fostering emotional connection. Laughter also unites people during difficult times. Incorporating more humor and play into your daily interactions can improve the quality of your relationships as well as your connections with co-workers, family members, and friends. It brings the focus away from negative emotions, making us more cheerful and putting ourselves in a positive frame of mind.

Laughter isn’t just fun and enjoyable, it’s good for our health. It relieves stress, pain, and conflict, lightens your burdens, inspires hopes, connects you to others, and keeps you grounded, focused, and alert. It provides a physical and emotional release. Laughter boosts the immune system and decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving our resistance to diseases. Other health benefits of laughter include lowering our blood pressure, increase the oxygen supply level in our blood hence giving us more energy, helps to burns calories , improves the function of blood vessels , increase the endorphin activity in our body resulting in a sense of well being and relaxes the whole body.

Many people find that maintaining a sense of humor is useful for a good quality of life and makes us capable of finding delight, experiencing joy, and releasing tension. The ability to laugh easily and frequently is a tremendous resource for surmounting problems, enhancing your relationships, and supporting both physical and emotional health. When we laugh we are more socially attractive. People enjoy being with those who laugh easily and often. When we laugh with one another, a positive bond is created which acts as a strong buffer against stress, disagreements, setbacks and disappointment. Shared laughter is one of the most effective tools for keeping relationships fresh and exciting and also an effective way to heal resentments, indifference and sadness.

A good laugh is not only the result of humor, it is often also the cause. Laughter helps us forget judgments, criticisms, and doubts. Release inhibitions and fear of holding back and holding on should be set aside. Deeply felt emotions are allowed to rise to the surface. Use humor to neutralize conflict in your relationships. Learn to cultivate an atmosphere of humor and laughter in your relationships as happy people laugh a lot together and laughter is considered to be one of the most effective tools to judge the quality of any relationship. The body heals with play, the mind heals with laughter and the spirit heals with joy. All emotional sharing builds strong and lasting relationship bonds, but laughter and play also adds joy, strength, and contentment.

Everyone needs to incorporate humor into their life. It can be infectious and make others smile and feel happier. Hence lets make it our motto “to live better is to laugh more” .

Impact – before i fall .

..so as a part of a a content writing project, we were told to write a blog piece on something which gravely impacted my life now when it comes to realizations I’m kind of poor at realizing things at the correct point of time.so this realization struck my dumb head today although if it actually were to happen it should have happened around two years ago cause that’s when I had watched this movie.

SPOILER ALERT

.well, I’m talking about this movie called before I fall Before I Fall is a 2017 American teen drama a film directed by Ry Russo-Young and written by Maria Maggenti, based on the 2010 novel of the same name by Lauren Oliver. The film stars Zoey Deutch, Halston Sage, Logan Miller, Kian Lawley, Jennifer Beals, Diego Boneta and Elena Kampouris.

What if you had only one day to change absolutely everything? Samantha Kingston has everything: the perfect friends, the perfect guy, and a seemingly perfect future. Then, everything changes. After one fateful night, Sam wakes up with no future at all. Trapped reliving the same day over and over, she begins to question just how perfect her life really was. As she begins to untangle the mystery of a life suddenly derailed, she must also unwind the secrets of the people closest to her, and discover the power of a single day to make a difference, not just in her own life, but in the lives of those around her–before she runs out of time for good.

Maybe for you, there is a tomorrow. Maybe for you, there are 10000 1000 or 3000 tomorrows. so much time you can bathe in it so much time you can waste in it but for some of us there is only today and what you do today matters in the moment or into infinity and I didn’t know any of it until I fell . The thing is you don’t know any of it or you don’t wake up with a bad feeling in your stomach or neither do you see shadows move. If you are like me you wake up 2 minutes 47 seconds before your best friend is supposed to be picking you up. If you are like me you last day starts like this.
                                                                                                              – Samantha.

you know it often happens that when we watch a movie or a Netflix series or read a piece or a book the way that book or that above piece is written we either start getting attached or start relating to a certain character or say the protagonist itself in here the protagonist Samantha wakes up in a sudden shudder the next day after a life-taking accident. now she keeps reliving the same day the cupid day she goes to school receives the same roses go to the same party gets in trouble with the same girl that they call a sociopath and the same suicide of the same girl Julian in front of their truck the same accident that Samantha wakes up to every day on three consecutive days she relives the same day but she tries to live it in a different way like the first day she relives that day she couldn’t help much though the next day she changes her outfits and tries living in a different way possible on the third the day the final day she tries and mends the ways she tries to be happy spends time with her little sister her family and her friends goes to the same party gain though this time she talks to Julianne (sociopath) and tries to mend her ways by saving her from killing herself though the twist is Samantha dies in that accident itself. like this movie gravely affected my life after seeing this movie for a couple of days I had technically questioned my existence and on a rewind, I had seen my life whether should I mend my ways or simply lead on to that I had found that I wasn’t doing much of a worse to anyone. well till a couple of more days I would compare my days from the previous ones if I had been repeating something in the entire day or to be specific I was looking for some unnoticed deja vu.
well to this I realised in all of my activities I was just looking for some acceptance and some epiphany of my family started growing on me. to be very honest in the movie as well the character Samantha was leading her life in the gloom until she technically realised that she was doing wrong to people. she was dating rob just because he was the most popular guy in college and not good love.the character Lindsy was looking just for acceptance cause she had put the name on Julianne when peed her pants in the sleeping bag just because her parents were going through a divorce. and Julianne she just shut down from the world cause neither did she have any acceptance not to mention nor any friends and on top of everything she was treated in a very ill manner.so before yours mine and our life take a stop and create deja vu on us we gotta mend our ways and be ideal human beings . after all you don’t know if you once will wake up to a shudder to relive the same day .

HORROR MOVIES MAKE SENSE?

Definitely, some may find horror movies as senseless but some may find it fascinating. It depends from person to person and the storyline of the movie. Watching horror movies with best friends may come up a bit funny. Unlikely watching them alone can be terrifying too. Some scenes make no sense. I mean what motivates you to go upstairs and investigate and follow the sound? https://youtu.be/X6pHNzqFy2E Asking who’s there, in an empty house. The spirit will answer back, totally unreasonable. I too crave horror movies, movies like The NUN with an interesting storyline can easily attract anyone. I mean this wasn’t terrifying but it had logic.

Health and Horror!

Taking a 30 min walk or watching a 90 min movie can burn equal calories. They actually boost heart rate, probably more pumping. One can come across premature aging on faces due to facial expressions. Adding frown lines can be a result of watching horror movies. The reason is while watching the horror scenes, we tend to change our expressions. According to Dr. Harry Singh, from beauty and wellness brand FOREO, by repeating this expression and stretching of Frontalis muscle we can formulate horizontal lines across the forehead. “What happens for most people is that you have an arousal of your sympathetic nervous system and an activation [to produce] adrenaline,” said AP Psychology teacher Heidi Mathers. Horror movies can cause side effects too. The most common among them is sleeplessness and anxiety.

Hollywood and Horror!

Hollywood movies have shown commercially great success in the Horror category. They are profitable because the movies have a low budget and are generally shot at a single location. The movie “The silence of the lambs” was very appreciated. People believed that “Prestige horror is back” after the movie Get out casting actor Jordan Peele won the best original screenplay in Oscar.

Oscar-winning Horror movies.

  • Misery(1990)– Kathy Bates won an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role starring in Misery.
  • The silence of the Lambs(1991)– “Silence of the Lambs” has lasted as the most successful in its genre, with wins in the top four categories of best actor, actress, director, and screenplay. It was directed by Jonathan Demme.
  • The Exorcist(1974)– Oscar Winner for Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another MediumWilliam Peter Blatty and for Best Sound. Though it has also been in the nominee list for other major categories.

Mis/Using Social Media during the Outbreak Times

What are we going through the most after the coronavirus attacked the world? The simple answer is social media. The use of social media has increased a lot to cut off boredom. But the real question whether the purpose of its use is good/bad or ethical/unethical. Many issues are going viral in social media platforms. The issues usually range from memes and fun challenges to fake news and troll. We all are both the victims and the abusers in different situations. People share stuffs intentionally and unintentionally to praise and hurt someone. Sometimes people do not apply any common sense before posting any news or post or comment. It is totally up to us how the situation will be managed. Let us see what all kind of issues became viral in social media platforms during the lockdown.

Recently the news to become viral is concerns about the ‘phishing attack alert’. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team has issued a serious alert that the phishing attack campaign is expected to be carried out by cyber criminals through a suspicious email id— ncov2019@gov.in from 21 June, 2020. The cyber criminals claim to have over two million individuals’ mail ids. They have a plan of sending mails with the subject ‘Free COVID-19 Testing’ in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Ahmedabad. The Government sends an alert that the attackers will imitate government organisations to confuse and that they can also steal sensitive personal data. It has also formed some guidelines to restrict the attackers.

Another hot topic is the attacks on celebrities, including the ‘star-kids’, after the sudden demise of the Bollywood heartthrob, Sushant Singh Rajput. Initially the Maharashtra Police department had reported that he had committed suicide due to depression. But after a day it has filed a case and started investigating the suicide theory. While the investigation is on people have started acting like investigators themselves and are pointing out various issues and events to prove that it was not suicide. So many information are getting viral in Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Twitter. Netizens are attacking celebrities like Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, Salman Khan and many more on the ground of ‘nepotism’ in this Bollywood industry. Netizens are also unfollowing them on Twitter and Instagram and posting numerous hate comments on their accounts. Some celebrities have blocked the comment sections of their accounts and some have deleted their accounts to have mental peace. Some people are calling for boycotting the large production houses and swear that they would not watch the movies of these houses in theatres. The followers of Sushant’s account have increased phenomenally in these few days on his Instagram and Facebook accounts.

Things have come to such a pass that the Maharashtra police has been forced to alert netizens with a warning. After the death of the Bollywood actor suddenly two pictures of his dead body lying on his bed became viral. It is unethical to post and share such pictures on both digital and print media. It may invite punishment for posting pictures of a body without the blurred face as per Indian law book. But some people have become insensitive due to the overuse of social media. Sushant’s close friends and some celebrities had to urge their followers not to share such pictures. It was getting out of control. So the police department posted on its social media account a warning that whoever shares the pictures will face severe consequence. One popular news channel also faced a FIR for reporting insensitive headline about Sushant.

Fake news poses a grave challenge to procuring and presenting information. Even the most prominent organizations fall prey to it. Some time back the World Health Organization (WHO) had to post an emergency notice on its official website. It clarified that a fake news was being circulated on various social media. The fake news stated that WHO has released a four-step protocol and procedure for conducting lockdown in India. WHO denied issuing such advisory and has asked people to visit the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of India and the official WHO website for verified information.

Last but definitely not the least the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Government of India, informed that the viral news on social media about the central government’s decision to resume lockdown from 18 June is fake. After the news went viral speculations and some panic started. Prior to this news, the PIB also refuted another fake news about the imposition of lockdown from 15 June by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Social media platforms have much utility in our life. But at times they become quite dangerous for public. Fake news and fake posters can lead some people to take wrong decisions. Some official measures are being taken now. The Indian Government, for instance, has stipulated that in the case of forwarding a particular message WhatsApp authorities have to show the exact number of people forwarding it. We have our responsibility as well. Before forwarding or sharing any piece of information, news or pictures as users we must try to check whether it is true or fake. It is a difficult task indeed but the effort needs to be there.

Why Facts Don’t Change Our Minds

An economist once wrote, “Faced with a choice between changing one’s mind and proving there is no need to do so, almost everyone gets busy with the proof.”

Leo Tolstoy was even bolder: “The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him.”

What’s going on here? Why don’t facts change our minds? And why would someone continue to believe a false or inaccurate idea anyway? How do such behaviors serve us?

The Logic of False Beliefs

Humans need a reasonably accurate view of the world in order to survive. If your model of reality is wildly different from the actual world, then you struggle to take effective actions each day.

However, truth and accuracy are not the only things that matter to the human mind. Humans also seem to have a deep desire to belong.

Humans are herd animals. We want to fit in, to bond with others, and to earn the respect and approval of our peers. Such inclinations are essential to our survival. For most of our evolutionary history, our ancestors lived in tribes. Becoming separated from the tribe—or worse, being cast out—was a death sentence.

Understanding the truth of a situation is important, but so is remaining part of a tribe. While these two desires often work well together, they occasionally come into conflict.

In many circumstances, social connection is actually more helpful to your daily life than understanding the truth of a particular fact or idea. The

We don’t always believe things because they are correct. Sometimes we believe things because they make us look good to the people we care about.

False beliefs can be useful in a social sense even if they are not useful in a factual sense. For lack of a better phrase, we might call this approach “factually false, but socially accurate.”  When we have to choose between the two, people often select friends and family over facts.

This insight not only explains why we might hold our tongue at a dinner party or look the other way when our parents say something offensive, but also reveals a better way to change the minds of others.

Facts Don’t Change Our Minds. Friendship Does.

Convincing someone to change their mind is really the process of convincing them to change their tribe. If they abandon their beliefs, they run the risk of losing social ties. You can’t expect someone to change their mind if you take away their community too. You have to give them somewhere to go. Nobody wants their worldview torn apart if loneliness is the outcome.

The way to change people’s minds is to become friends with them, to integrate them into your tribe, to bring them into your circle. Now, they can change their beliefs without the risk of being abandoned socially.

Facts don’t change our minds. Friendship does.

The Spectrum of Beliefs.

If someone you know, like, and trust believes a radical idea, you are more likely to give it merit, weight, or consideration. You already agree with them in most areas of life. Maybe you should change your mind on this one too. But if someone wildly different than you proposes the same radical idea, well, it’s easy to dismiss them as a crackpot.

One way to visualize this distinction is by mapping beliefs on a spectrum. If you divide this spectrum into 10 units and you find yourself at Position 7, then there is little sense in trying to convince someone at Position 1. The gap is too wide. When you’re at Position 7, your time is better spent connecting with people who are at Positions 6 and 8, gradually pulling them in your direction.

The most heated arguments often occur between people on opposite ends of the spectrum, but the most frequent learning occurs from people who are nearby. The closer you are to someone, the more likely it becomes that the one or two beliefs you don’t share will bleed over into your own mind and shape your thinking. The further away an idea is from your current position, the more likely you are to reject it outright.

When it comes to changing people’s minds, it is very difficult to jump from one side to another. You can’t jump down the spectrum. You have to slide down it.

Any idea that is sufficiently different from your current worldview will feel threatening. And the best place to ponder a threatening idea is in a non-threatening environment. As a result, books are often a better vehicle for transforming beliefs than conversations or debates.

In conversation, people have to carefully consider their status and appearance. They want to save face and avoid looking stupid. When confronted with an uncomfortable set of facts, the tendency is often to double down on their current position rather than publicly admit to being wrong.

Books resolve this tension. With a book, the conversation takes place inside someone’s head and without the risk of being judged by others. It’s easier to be open-minded when you aren’t feeling defensive.

Arguments are like a full frontal attack on a person’s identity. Reading a book is like slipping the seed of an idea into a person’s brain and letting it grow on their own terms. There’s enough wrestling going on in someone’s head when they are overcoming a pre-existing belief. They don’t need to wrestle with you too.

Be Kind First, Be Right Later

A  brilliant writer once wrote, “Always remember that to argue, and win, is to break down the reality of the person you are arguing against. It is painful to lose your reality, so be kind, even if you are right.”

When we are in the moment, we can easily forget that the goal is to connect with the other side, collaborate with them, befriend them, and integrate them into our tribe. We are so caught up in winning that we forget about connecting. It’s easy to spend your energy labeling people rather than working with them.

The word “kind” originated from the word “kin.” When you are kind to someone it means you are treating them like family. This, I think, is a good method for actually changing someone’s mind. Develop a friendship. Share a meal. Gift a book.

Be kind first, be right later.

Spiritual Teachings of life: Bhagavad Gita

Bhagavad Gita is a Hindu scripture said by lord Krishna to Arjuna during mahabhart fight. It was said in sanskrit language. Lord Krishna gave this knowledge to arjuna when he was in dilemma due to the result of fight which would led to deaths of many people along with his relatives & many of his loved ones. At that time krishna acted like a counsellor and said Bhagavad Gita.

It is often said that whenever a person is in dilemma then he can find the solutions of his problems just by opening and reading any of the page of Bhagavad Gita. It is actually said by lord Krishna for the future world and one can feel and relate it with their life just by reading it. It has been translated in 75 languages till now including hindi and english. It teaches us a lot to live a happy and peaceful life in this world.

It teaches us that a person can become anything they want to, if they work hard towards their goal with full belief. Person is made with his believes, whatever he believes in, he becomes that. Person who focuses on his deed, instead of fruit he will get, can only become successful in his life.

It teaches us to live in present, it tells us that life is neither living it in the past nor in the future, it is the present moment which we should live. Person without fear, illness, hatred and addiction can get peaceful life in this world and in the paradise. If our mind is not calm, it is difficult to control it, but we can make it possible by practicing. Those who don’t have control on their mind, their minds act like a enemy for them. If we don’t have control over our senses and thoughts then our mind won’t be calm and those whose mind is not calm can’t get peace and without peace, happy life is not possible.

It tells whatever happened, happened for a good, whatever is happening, happening for a good, whatever will happen in future that will also be for good, what was yours, so you are crying? What had you brought that you missed, what had you made that is destroyed? Whatever you took, took from here only, whatever you gave, gave here only, what is yours today, was someone else’s yesterday and will be someone else’s tomorrow. Change is the law of universe. So, don’t become upset over things. We brought nothing to this world and won’t take anything along with us after dying.
History says yesterday was delightful , science says tomorrow will be delightful , but real dharma says if our mind and heart is good and truthful then it will be delightful everyday.

The day we forgets the difference between you and me, our and others, small and big, that day everyone becomes ours and we ourselves becomes of others.

Confidence Zooming : Massive Success Secrets !!!!!!!!!

I think my magic power is the ability to act confident even when I feel completely sick to my stomach. I seem to be really good at masking certain emotions and using confidence as a mask is something people may mistake as me actually being confident.

The deep hard truth is, I’m not as confident in myself as I may always seem! I love to give people advice about confidence as if I do the same thing, where as I’ve been trying that ‘fake it until you make it’ process since like year 8!

So I have had an interesting journey with confidence from thinking I was the sexiest beast in all the land in primary school to being CONSISTENTLY called ugly and that I looked like a boy in year’s 7 and 8, to being bullied on snapchat in year 11-12, not showing small things like my nose or ears in photos because of how self conscious I was,  all the way to body confidence issues and self harm.. Confidence is something I have always been chasing!

But over the years I think there are things I have taken from all these experiences and can apply to grow in confidence, so maybe we can do these things together?

Confidence is something I have always been chasing!

But over the years I think there are things I have taken from all these experiences and can apply to grow in confidence, so maybe we can do these things together? Focus on your achievements, not your failures – I no longer class the somewhat knocking events of the past as ‘failures’ because i can safely say, that although they brought me down to some of my lowest points, I’M STILL HERE TODAY. I LIVED THROUGH THAT! I’m not saying I’m glad it happened, but I can’t change the past, it has helped me to grow.  But this can be applied to any kind of achievement, that’s just my personal relevant anecdotal achievement.

The fake it till you make it technique does work to a degree, so slowly but surely maybe using that and incorporating that into your everyday would be helpful.

I found that throwing yourself in the deep end, and doing something completely out of your comfort zone is good for confidence building, something as simple as the move from home to uni has noticeably helped me to develop my confidence!

Focus on WHO you are! We all have friends, and they all love something about us, what do you love about yourself? only focus on what you love about yourself and soon enough you’ll love every inch of yourself !

Stop focussing on the future, and spend some time appreciating the here and now! We are on a rock floating around in space, it has been perfectly placed, if it were but 5cm either way human life wouldn’t be a thing!

Dance like no one is watching, who is to tell you who you are and what you can do, as i just said, we are miraculously on this God given earth, for all of ONE life. WHY should we care what anyone thinks of us at the end of the day! If you wanna do something and people aren’t supportive of it, or if you want to go and dance in the rain and the people around you are judging you rather than joining you… THEY’RE NOT YOUR PEOPLE.
