Nepotism:The Legacy of Terrorism.

Nephew, son of one’s own brother. This is a relation which gave birth to a new word, nepotismo, the Italian word which is based on it. Nepotism is not a recent issue, it has been a challenge for the world for ages. The Popes and bishops, who had taken vows of chastity, and therefore usually had no offspring, often were ascended by their nephews. This culture of relative elevation led to a papal ‘dynasty’. Nepotism is understood as choosing an unfit person over a fit one for a position, just because you like him. It is also understood, that side-liningl real talent and skills for favouring someone you like would lead you to several follies.
Nepotism exists in different sectors of the society, and are of several types.
Some of those types are:-
Political Nepotism– The most infamous sector which has been suffering from this nepotistic syndrome for a long time. Often a political party is led by the offspring or the successor of the founder. One of the most powerful position is held by someone without considering his qualification for holding the post. For example: the chief of Congress, must be Rahul Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi, as the Gandhi family has been leading the Congress party for years
Entertainment Nepotism-This sector was having a large nepotistic influence recently, but no one spoke against it firmly. Few artists dared to speak about such ill-practices in the industry. But, few lost their careers and even life due to this nepotism. Sushant Singh Rajput is one of the recent victim of Bollywood Industry’s nepotism.
Sports Nepotism– Sports have been a domain, where talent and skills are highly required to keep your position stable. But, always a try is made to introduce some players who are either relative of the retired players or those of the selection board members. Stuart Binny has been the major example of nepotism in sports.
Legislative Nepotism-Legislature have been the pillar of Indian democracy. The country’s all major plans and proposals are framed and implemented by the legislature. Thus, it needs people with finest brains and skills, but nepotism exist in the parliament, as well. The nominated members or the ticket allocation, are the major sites for nepotism in Indian Legislature.
Business Nepotism– Private sectors are popular for their work oriented culture. It is considered that in business culture, the one who works well is praised. But, here promotion is the most celebrated occasion for nepotists. The one who is well connected to the higher officials are more likely to get promotion irrespective of the skills and work working capacity.
Religious Nepotism– Religion is now a new form of patriotism. It has been assigned with a particular colour, colours are now symbol of a respective religion. How insane, isn’t it? However, nepotism exists even there. A pandit’s son is the future pandit. A maulana’s son is the next mulla. Gita and Quran are now sidelined, the legacy and teaching of father, is the new religious preaching.
All the above form of nepotism, exists in society. I’m pretty sure, other exist, too. But lets discuss the havoc these forms brings to us. The havoc which is similar to terrorism’s. Terrorist’s main agenda is to kill people and harm them at every possible form. Nepotism is no different. Nepotist’s attack those with real talent and skills, they demotivate them, they demote them, they try to make them feel inferior.  Nepotists make them realise their faults every time. And, unlike the terrorists, they don’t use ammunitions. They use even more harsh weapon, that’s words. Words have always been the most harmful weapon used by humanity.
The recent example of Nepotistic Terrorism is the case of Sushant Singh Rajput. This case might appear to be a suicide, but its a murder. A murder committed by nepotism and nepotists of Bollywood. Nepotists tried every possible means to demote him and make him feel leftover. He was made emotionally isolated and his professional life was messed up by those nepotistic producer, holding power in the B-town.
Although, the Bihar’s small town boy committed suicide, which was never a solution. But, his death won’t go in vain. Public has been outrageous towards such nepotistic producer and their films. Twitter was trending with their boycott hashtags. Nepotism has always been, is and always will be the destroyer of skilful and talented people’s career and promoter unreal talents. It has always been delivering havoc to every sector of society, where it exists. Skills and nepotism cannot exist in a development seeking society.

CAPITAL STRUCTURE

Capital structure signifies the composition of the amount of long-term financing and according to Gerstenberg, “Capital structure means the types of securities to be issued and the proportionate amounts that makeup capitalization”. Long term finds can be obtained from owners and borrowers. The owner’s fund consists of equity shares, preference shares, and retained earnings. Borrower’s fund (debt capital) includes debentures and other long term borrowings and the ratio between the owner’s fund (equity) and borrower’s fund is decided under the capital structure.

DETERMINANTS OF CAPITAL STRUCTURE

As stated earlier capital structure decision is highly individualistic and the capital structure of a company is planned initially when the company is floated. The initial capital structure must be designed very carefully since it will have long-term implications. However, the capital structure decision is a continuous one and has to be taken every time whenever a firm needs additional finances. Several factors affect the capital structure of a firm. Some of the important factors which must be kept in mind while determining the capital structure are discussed as follows:

1. Cash flow position

While choosing if capital structure the future cash flow position must be considered before issuing debt. Cash flow must not only cover fixed cash payment obligations but there must be sufficient buffer also, it must be kept in mind that a company has cash payments obligations for (i) Normal business operations; (ii) for investment in fixed assets; and (iii) for meeting the debt service commitments i.e. payment of interest and repayment of principal.

2. Interest Coverage Ratio

By the use of this ratio, it can ascertain whether the company can pay interest or not. The greater this ratio, the more will be the capacity of the company to use debt. The ratio can be calculated as under:

Interest coverage ratio= Earnings before interest & Taxes/ Interest

3. Debt Service coverage ratio- DSCR:

The debt service coverage ratio takes care of the weaknesses referred to in the interest coverage ratio-ICR. A higher DSCR indicated better ability to meet cash commitments and consequently, the company’s potential to increase debt components in its capital structure.

4.Cost of Debt

The capacity of a company to take depends on the cost of debt. In case the firm arranges borrowed funds at a low rate of interest then it will prefer more debt as compared to equity and vice versa.

5. Tax rate

High tax rate makes debt cheaper as the interest paid to debt security holder is subtracted from income before calculating tax whereas companies have to pay tax on dividend paid to shareholders. So high-end tax rate means prefer debt whereas at low rate tax the company can prefer equity in the capital structure.

6. Cost of equity capital

The cost of a source of finance is the minimum rate of return expected by its Suppliers. Equity shareholders bear the maximum risk because no rate of dividend is fixed. To pay interest on debentures is a statutory liability of the company whether the company earns a profit or not. Thus, debt is cheaper as compared to ordinary share capital. The cost of debt becomes lesser because interest is a charge on the taxable income.

Women – The Glorious Sacrificers

Trapped in the stereotypical beliefs, women sometimes have to take a step back and give up on their dreams.

There are multiple reasons why women have to suppress their desire to be independent and compromise with the norms of the world.

Going back in the older times, when the technology was not so advanced as it is today and also the people strictly stuck to the cultural beliefs, not much attention was given to the education and dreams of the girl child but the only focus that the parents had on was making the girls a perfectionist in the household work. At an early stage they were made to marry as the so called age of marriage for girls was in between 18-25. After which they were considered to be too old for marriage. Hence, the dreams of many women got crushed and they had to stay silent as they were made to believe that this is the right thing. This is what is meant to happen.

While some women had to give up on their dreams due to lack of technologies or source of education in their area. Traveling for hours everyday to pursue their career in science or other streams as the source of education was not available in the area in which they stayed was considered as unsafe. So that’s another reason that they had to forget about becoming a doctor and compromise with being a housewife.

Some women somehow pursued their graduation and wanted to go for higher education but were pulled behind by lack of money or family disputes.

After marriage, women get involved in their married life. Looking after their husband and in laws in their only duty.

Unsupportive husband and opposing the decision of a working women in their family, the in laws, are another reason for a married women to sacrifice her wished and devote herself to her family.

It has been observed that it’s always the Men who are considered to be the working individual in a family. It’s only the men who are allowed the right to education, become independent and earn money.

Why is it that they are never expected to sacrifice these things but women are?

After having children, a women’s entire focus goes to the nourishment and upbringing of the child. So not even in the back of her she remembers that she wanted to be something else once. She completely forgets about it.

And then by the age of 35 or 40, when her children are capable of taking care of themselves completely, the process of regret starts. She starts wishing again that she could have studied more or raised her voice against early marriage. She wishes to be independent again. She wishes to be earning for herself and fulfilling her little wishes that she sacrificed her entire life, mostly for her children. Not because she is forced to. But it is who she is- The Glorious Sacrificer.

Some women also realize that

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream another dream.

So they complete their education or start working.

Some take up the job of teaching while some make their hobbies like stitching into their source of income.

Still the support of their family and their permission is required.

Her husband would tell her, ” I’m the man and only I should earn.” Or he might say, ” what is it that you need? Tell me and I’ll provide.”

And once again she has to supress her dreams and forget about it. But this time it is forever.

In some cases, where the woman has to go through domestic violence and the only reason that she tolerates it is poor education that brings unemployment. Her parents won’t accept her, the society would talk about her and she wouldn’t be able to fight for the custody of her child neither would she be able to provide the required financial support in the upbringing of her child due to lack of money and power. There happens another sacrifice, the sacrifice of self respect.

Some women are lucky who have a supportive husband and in laws. She is allowed to go out and work and earn for herself. The family doesn’t see it as a sin but is proud of her and is happy that she is contributing to the family financially.

Women not always want to work because there is financial crisis or their wants are not fulfilled. It is also because it gives them a feeling of satisfaction that they are something on their own. They are something else may it be a doctor, a teacher, a tailor or anything else and not just a daughter, wife and a mother. They have achievements that they can proudly speak about. They can also bring the good news of promotion home to their family and be celebrated.

Women want to be something too.

To everyone reading this right now, I have something to say to each one of you.

If you are a women, do not give up on your dreams to achieve something for yourself. Follow your passion and the World will be yours one day.

If you are a parent, let her become independent and self sufficient before getting her married. Her career should be your priority so that she won’t have to compromise her self respect someday.

If you are a husband, you are the only support she needs. Stand with her. She has the right to all the happiness after everything that she has done for you and your family.

If you are a son or a daughter, encourage her, support her and stand with her. Talk to your family and explain them that her happiness also matters.

And to everyone in general, ask this question to the women of your family, what it was that she wanted to do before she had to give up? What did she want to be?

And tell her, ” I’m proud of you.”.

The pride month

The pride month is going on, as the global pride day is on 27th of June.  Why is it called the pride month?  In 1969 same day, was the first time when homosexuals got together and fought for their rights to be treated with dignity, also called the stonewalls riot that happened in New York.  America had an anti gay legal system, under which they always saw homosexuals as a threat to humans, because of which these people were not allowed in many places. At that time Stone wall Inn a bar in Greenwich village used to allow these people as it was run be an highly organized Italian- American criminal society. Although different kind of people used to come there, the bar was called the ” Gay bar”, and police used to raid it every night and used to torture those whom they found homosexuals. After many years of sufferings, these people organized  protests to make people aware that homosexuality is not a crime and a person should be free to reveal their sexuality without being arrested. After six days of riot, the anti gay system was abolished and they were no longer seen as threat to the society, and in 2003 a after many protests and campaigns in 2003 they were given the right to LOVE. This was  all about America, there are many other countries which have not even legalized homosexuality.

It’s really sad that some group of people in the world have to struggle so much to get the right to live. Have you ever read about these historical movements in any of your school text books? or Have your parents in anyway talked about it? No, none of our history text books have ever  mentioned  about this. None of our biology text books  mention that there are people who are homosexuals. None of our literature  textbooks mention the story of the struggle that one goes through when they feel different from others. There  are people claiming to  have a cure for homosexuality,  the people claiming these things should be arrested rather they are appreciated and encouraged by our society.

Why is it so difficult to understand the most normal thing in this world.

It is time that we introduce this as a subject in the school, and make the students aware about this. May be this can help many to accept themselves, and can prevent many stigma to prevail about this .  Its time that we tell our friends, kids, brother or sister  that it is ok to be what you are, love yourself for what you are. Its time that we stop using words like gay, lesbian, queer as an intention to insult others. Its time that we start to feel normal when you see a gay or lesbian couple. Its time to talk something beyond just asking these people that how do they feel? When did they make the decision to be this? Don’t you think you could have been normal? etc.

Let’s bring a change by making homosexuality a normal thing. Try to make a world where everyone lives their life happily  and help each other out in difficult times ,in short make a civilized society in its real meaning.

SELF-CONFIDENCE

When self-confidence is present, you’re not afraid to require risks and to undertake new things.

Self-confidence is important for a cheerful and successful life and may be a quality of character that the majority people appreciate, once they see it in people .

When you possess self-confidence, you are doing not allow what people think and say about you to affect you, and you don’t take things too personally. This means a more peaceful life.

Most people aren’t born with this quality of character. However, you can build it up. You can build self-confidence by changing your mindset and your attitude toward life, albeit various personal experiences within the past caused you to break down .

Self confidence is usually suffering from how you think that and believe people see you. If you’ve got low self-esteem, you’d probably believe and feel that folks don’t have a high opinion of you, which can in fact , undermine your self-worth .

If you see yourself in your mind’s eye as lacking self-worth , you’ll behave accordingly, and other people would treat you accordingly.

If you see yourself in your mind’s eye as strong and assertive, you’d broadcast this attitude to the people you meet, who would sense your inner strength and treat you accordingly.

How to Build Your Self-Confidence
I would wish to suggest a couple of simple tips to assist you build self-confidence.

  1. believe what you’ve got already wiped out your life
Even if you experienced failure and unhappiness in your life, there certainly are a couple of achievements.

These needn’t be great achievements, but quite simple ones, like getting good grades at college or college, promotion at work, getting along well together with your neighbors, getting your driving license, or learning to swim.

Thinking about those achievements causes you to realize that you simply have experienced success in your life, and not all is failure.

This would cause you to feel better about yourself and about your life, and improve your self-esteem.

  1. specialise in what you probably did and achieved, not on what you probably did not do and didn’t achieve

Why fill your mind with scenarios of failure?

If you retain brooding about failure, you unconsciously expect and anticipate it, and might eventually attract it to you. This would further spoil your sense of self-confidence.

You should replace this negative movie in your mind with a movie about success. If you retain watching a movie of success in your mind, you will eventually attract success. This process would build up your self-confidence.

  1. Write down an inventory of your achievements and success

Take another step toward building your self-confidence and write down an inventory of your achievements and success, and at check out this list often.

You might say that you simply haven’t experienced success.

You are wrong about that.

You might haven’t experienced great success, but you surely had, albeit only occasionally, experienced some quite success. Even baking an honest cake, being in good relations together with your spouse or children, or going for a walk almost a day may be a sort of success.

  1. Think about your talents and abilities

Set a time every day to believe your talents and skills , and find ways to develop and use them. Do not say that you simply haven’t any talents and skills. Everyone has some. You just need to find them.

  1. Strengthen your willpower and self-discipline
  2. Set small, simple goals

I am talking about really small goals, like cleaning and arranging your wardrobe or drawers, inviting friends to your house, beginning to learn swimming, taking a brief walk, or talking with someone whom you don’t like.
These small acts will cause you to feel better about yourself and increase your self-confidence.

  1. Develop a positive attitude

Instead of that specialize in negative events and expecting the more severe , make the trouble to specialise in the positive and expect positive results.

This won’t be easy if your mindset has always been negative. However, with persistence, you’ll change your mental habits and build a positive attitude.

  1. Give yourself motivational talks

Remove any negative commentary running in your mind. Be firm, and don’t allow negative comments about you and about your life to run in your mind. You need to be more conscious of what’s happening in your mind and not allow negative self-talk to travel on in your mind.

  1. What we wear, often, affects how we feel

What kind of clothes makes you feel better? What colors make you feel more confident?

Choose the garments and colours you wish , and therefore the ones that cause you to feel more confident.

  1. Your body posture is important

Keep your back straight while walking and while sitting.

  1. Act confidently

Act confidently, even if you are faking it. In time, acting confidently will become a habit.

  1. Let your voice be heard

When talking, speak up and clearly and don’t be afraid to precise your opinions.

Jal hi Jeevan hai

Water is life. Imagine earth without water- the soil without water in it will grow nothing it would be lifeless, dust, sand, or rock. Imagine air without water, it would be impossible to breather in. 80% of our body is made up of water.

How much water we have?

The Earth is full of water. There is water on surface of the earth in form of rivers, oceans, lakes and ponds. There is water below earth surface. Water is also present in form of ice in glaciers and in form of vapour in air.

About 71 percent of the Earth’s surface is water-covered. So it would seem that water is one thing we would never have to worry about. But actually here is. 96.5 percent of Earth’s water is in oceans- which is saline. While oceans also support life, but when it comes to land animals and plants, we need non-saline water, we need drinkable water. Which is less than 3% of the entire reserve.

Water Cycle

Description: Diagram of the water cycle showing evaporation, condensation, and precipitationWater is never ever sitting still- even when it appears to. Thanks to the water cycle, water is constantly changing form and place. Water from oceans evaporate under Sun, these vapours form cloud which brings rain across planet. Entire earth’s water supply is constantly moving from one place to another and from one form to another. If there was no water cycle, the water will become stale, bacteria and fungi will grow in it- making it unusable for humans.

Water Consumption Trend

Description: https://www.ourplanet.com/imgversn/141/images/glance/glance1.jpgWater is required for our day to day activities- from needs like food to wants and luxuries like playing golf. The demand of water has been constantly increasing. And unfortunately most of this is for freshwater, we have not been able to use saline water (and even if we learn to transportation will be a challenge.

Since 1900, the population of earth has more than tripled. The water demand per capita is constantly increasing. This has increased our water consumption exponentially. It has been estimated that humanity now appropriates 54 percent of accessible runoff, and could be using 70 percent by the year 2025 [3].

Population distribution and water stress areas

The amount of freshwater in the world has reached to almost a constant level over billions of years of earth and water cycle. So why there should be a water crisis now? What has changed? Well, population explosion is definitely an issue. Another critical thing is uneven distribution of population. It is not at all mapped to the freshwater supply (which is not very practical or easy either).

At present some 40 percent of the world’s population live in areas with moderate to high water stress. By 2025 this is expected to increase to two thirds – or 5.5 billion people [3].

Day Zero

The threat to water availability is scary and more imminent than ever. Day zero is the day when water supply in a city will have to be stopped.

Cape Town, South Africa, is the first city to face this threat [4]. There were huge campaigns and awareness programs run in the city to educate the citizens to cut down their water needs. They had to stop watering their gardens and even cut on flushes in the toilet.

Day zero threat is not just looming over Capetown but dozens larger cities like Bangalore, London, Tokyo are facing this threat [5]. Thankfully, the Day zero clock of Cape Town has been advanced by a year. But the threat is not at all over. Unless we make habit of better water recycling and make lifestyle amends, day zero is hanging over our heads.

New Argentine fossils uncover history of celebrated conifer group

Newly unearthed, surprisingly well-preserved conifer fossils from Patagonia, Argentina, show that an endangered and celebrated group of tropical West Pacific trees has roots in the ancient supercontinent that once comprised Australia, Antarctica and South America, according to an international team of researchers.

The Araucaria genus, which includes the well-known Norfolk Island pine, is unique because it’s so abundant in the fossil record and still living today,” said Gabriella Rossetto-Harris, a doctoral student in geosciences at Penn State and lead author of the study. “Though they can grow up to 180 feet tall, the Norfolk Island pine is also a popular houseplant that you might recognize in a dentist’s office or a restaurant.”

Araucaria grew all around the world starting about 170 million years ago in the Jurassic period. Around the time of the dinosaur extinction 66 million years ago, the conifer became restricted to certain parts of the Southern Hemisphere, said co-author Peter Wilf, professor of geosciences and associate in the Earth and Environmental Systems Institute (EESI).

Today, four major groups of Araucaria exist, and the timing of when and where these living lineages evolved is still debated, Rossetto-Harris said. One grows in South America, and the other three are spread across New Caledonia, New Guinea and Australia, including Norfolk Island. Many are now endangered or vulnerable species. The Norfolk pine group, the most diverse with 16 species, is usually thought to have evolved near its modern range in the West Pacific well after the Gondwanan supercontinent split up starting about 50 million years ago, Rossetto-Harris added.

Researchers from Penn State and the Museo Paleontológico Egidio Feruglio, Chubut, Argentina, found the fossils at two sites in Patagonia—Río Pichileufú, which has a geologic age of about 47.7 million years, and Laguna del Hunco, with a geologic age of about 52.2 million years. They analyzed the fossil characteristics and compared them to modern species to determine to which living group the fossils belonged. Then they developed a phylogenetic tree to show the relationships between the fossil and living species. They reported their findings in a recent issue of the American Journal of Botany.

Unlike the monkey puzzle trees of the living South American group of Araucaria, which have large, sharp leaves, the Patagonian conifer fossils have small, needle-like leaves and cone remains that closely resemble the Australasian Norfolk Island pine group, according to the researchers. They also found a fossil of a pollen cone attached to the end of a branch, which is also characteristic of the group.

The new discovery of a fossil pollen cone still attached to a branch is rare and spectacular,” said Rossetto-Harris, who is also an EESI Environmental Scholar. “It allows us to create a more complete picture of what the ancestors of these trees were like.”

The researchers used 56 new fossils from Río Pichileufú to expand the taxonomic description of Araucaria pichileufensis, a species first described in 1938 using only a handful of specimens.

“Historically, scientists have lumped together the Araucaria fossils found at Río Pichileufú and Laguna del Hunco as the same species,” Rossetto-Harris said. “The study shows, for the first time, that although both species belong to the Norfolk pine group of Araucaria, there is a difference in conifer species between the two sites.”

The researchers named the new species from Laguna del Hunco Araucaria huncoensis, for the site where it was found. The fossils are about 30 million years older than many estimates for when the Australasian lineage evolved, according to Rossetto-Harris.

Why Productivity matters?

Before knowing the need for productivity, let’s come to know what productivity actually means. The meaning of this crucial word may differ from person to person. For some, it may refer to being active, just obeying the schedule. For some people, it may refer to attaining results apart from the schedule. For some, it may simply mean being independent. One of my friends actually helps me to explore productivity. The basic meaning of being productive is achieving goals by just being consistent. The lockdown is I guess a true opportunity to show how productive one can be! Who doesn’t want to earn and make their parents happy? I mean that’s what a true goal achiever would do in spite of his/her age. Knowing responsibility and then going for productivity will make you more enthusiastic towards achieving your goal. Also, the demand for work from home(WFH) has comparatively increased due to lockdown, however, recruiters used to prefer office work before.

Focus, smart work, productivity, and gratification are the four main assets that I consider for being successful. Everyone studies to get a better job and a secure future. In today’s corporate world there is a high need for consistent, and productive employees. Every organization needs profitable co-workers giving immense outputs.

Umbrella personality!

Ever heard of this word Umbrella personality? like someone saying, that guy owns an umbrella personality. In other words, an allrounder individual can tackle every situation with as many qualities that are needed to make a profitable self, which may eventually make a profit in the company. While facing an interview, interviewers analyze the extra qualities of an individual. Apart from knowledge, what matters is Skills. If you have understanding but are not able to apply and excel then what is the use of such kind of knowledge. As we grow older, we come to know our responsibilities. Responsibilities as an individual, as a family member and as a youth. Sudden change in someone’s personality and character can be a sign of scrutinizing responsibilities. The will to achieve goals, succeed, and give lifetime happiness to parents. Many people also become depressed under this burden. The responsibility also plays a vital role in being productive. More responsibility, more the employee will think of the company as his own and more will be the productivity. From a business point of view, quality and productivity are interrelated. The more the quality, the more will be productivity. For example, the Redmi smartphone has increased its productivity in the recent decade, the reason behind this is, they offer amazing features at reasonable prices and are sleek in design. The same goes for their laptops, which are recently launched in the month of June.

How to increase productivity?

  • No to distractions- Social media is the most distracting zone. You can kill your time easily once you get involved in this.
  • Increase efficiency- For efficiency, it is necessary to have a proper plan and its application.
  • Employee satisfaction- Ensuring the happiness and devotion of an employee is highly essential.
  • Encouraging support-If you encourage an employee, he gets motivated to become more productive and attempts to give promising outputs.

“It’s not knowing what to do, it’s doing what you know.” ~Tony Robbins

Motivation – A key to Success!

“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far once can go.” – American – English poet, T. S. Eliot

Motivation is a crucial element in setting and attaining goals. It is a need or desire that energizes human behavior, causes a person to act and directs it towards a goal. Motivation often explains why a person performs at a particular level. People can be motivated to do just about anything along with passion, enthusiasm, determination, courage and determination to pursue and attain their goals. Motivating another person to accomplish a given task is a challenge no matter what your occupation. The desire to complete a task can drive us to make discoveries and innovations, and achieve milestones that once seemed out of reach. It pushes us to achieve something and helps in being progressive both physically and mentally. Also, you should be willing to leave your comfort zone because your true potential is going to revel when you leave your comfort zone.

Motivation properly supported with two essential concepts such as inspiration and courage can help us pursue our personal and professional goals properly, reach financial independence and professional career success and achieve personal harmony . A lot of things in this life require courage. Without courage, we stay in our comfort zone and miss opportunities, and we live in a state of pain or grief much longer than we need to live there. But with courage, we can accomplish great things and create a life that is worth living. It can become an unbeatable weapon in the hands of any individual on their path to success and much better life. Motivation is very important for the overall development of the personality and mind of the people. It also puts a person in action and in a competitive state. Furthermore, it improves efficiency and desire to achieve the goal. It leads to stability and improvement in work. Also, it satisfies a person’s needs and to achieve his/her goal. It helps the person to fight his negative attitude. The person also tries to come out of his/her comfort zone so that she/ he can achieve the goal.

Motivation is significant for the overall growth of our mind and personality. boosts our desire to achieve a meaningful life goal and helps us to fight our fears and negative thoughts. When we are motivated, we learn to organize and prioritize our life. It develops our performance level day by day , makes us more active in life and hence it is one of the vital factors to be successful in any phase of your life. Sometimes, if we ever feel demotivated, we need to locate the right motivation and learn to overcome emotions to get our spark back. This includes listening to speeches, videos, read books , quotes and other works from inspirational people. This makes us to be more self-confident, optimistic and helps us stay motivated.

Motivation is the key to succeeding our goals and dreams. Hence lets remain progressive, dedicate to our ambitions and work towards achieving our goals.

Black & White:#RACISM

Racism is the belief that groups of humans possess different behavioral traits corresponding to physical appearance and can be divided based on the superiority of one race over another. It may also mean prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against other people because they are of a different race or ethnicity.

As an Indian I would like to throw the light on Racism in India. In our daily life for example: In metro , in colleges ,at work place people do face racism .Some of them manage to talk back who are bullying but there are many who accept themselves as what other people says to them .There are so many cases in India where we can see that people strictly follow it. I think we, the citizens of India are responsible for it.One who bully people I think the problem is not in them the real problem is in the parents they should teach their children that we should not discriminate anyone on the basis of caste, color, creed, religion etc;.

An for an eye will leave the whole world Blind- MAHATAMA GANDHI

In India mainly the discrimination is on color. People discriminate each other on the basis of color,BLACK & WHITE.But in India there are many type of discrimination black & white are just the part of it. I don’t know why the educated ones follow this too,But situation has been in control. But still people follow it .There are so many cases of racism in India ,Let’s have a look-

West Bengal: English book says “u for ugly” with a black mans photo. But the government suspended the two teachers who introduced the book.

The mysterious death of Loitam Richard in Bangalore, the murder of Ramchanphy Hongray in New Delhi, the suicide by Dana Sangma and other such incidents serve as reminders of the insecure conditions under which people, particularly the young, from the north-east of India have to live with in the metros of this country. What these deaths have in common is that the three individuals were all from a certain part of the country, had a “particular” physical appearance, and were seen as outsiders in the places they died. These incidents have been read as a symptom of the pervasive racial discrimination that people from the region face in metropolitan India.

Racism is at all levels,Right from advertisements to general mocking at small group level.Racism as in color of skin is really bad and it should not be there .A person can be- fair n lovely. , And also ‘fair’ and ‘lovely’. So, mere skin color doesn’t define someone’s personality., A person should be beautiful from outside. I don’t follow the definition of ‘sundarata,’ by regular people. It’s something from inside. One should appreciate the person’s behaviour and kindness. As in race inferior and superior if a person is born irrespective of any sexuality , caste, creed gender has freedom to live with respect and dignity.I appreciate people who respect anybody irrespective of employment or non- employment.Everybody deserves equal respect and kindness.Humility should be key factor. So should end from everywhere.

Time to Act.

There is a common mistake that often happens to smart people — in many cases, without you ever realizing it.

The mistake has to do with the difference between being in motion and taking action. They sound similar, but they’re not the same.

Here it is

Motion vs. Action

When you’re in motion, you’re planning and strategizing and learning. Those are all good things, but they don’t produce a result. Action, on the other hand, is the type of behavior that will deliver an outcome.Sometimes motion is useful, but it will never produce an outcome by itself. It doesn’t matter how many times you go talk to the personal trainer, that motion will never get you in shape. Only the action of working out will get the result you’re looking to achieve.

Why Smart People Find Themselves in Motion

If motion doesn’t lead to results, why do we do it? Sometimes we do it because we actually need to plan or learn more. But more often than not, we do it because motion allows us to feel like we’re making progress without running the risk of failure. Most of us are experts at avoiding criticism. It doesn’t feel good to fail or to be judged publicly, so we tend to avoid situations where that might happen. And that’s the biggest reason why you slip into motion rather than taking action: you want to delay failure.

It’s easy to be in motion and convince yourself that you’re still making progress. You think, “I’ve got conversations going with four potential clients right now. This is good. We’re moving in the right direction.” Or, “I brainstormed some ideas for that book I want to write. This is coming together.”

Motion makes you feel like you’re getting things done. But really, you’re just preparing to get something done. When preparation becomes a form of procrastination, you need to change something. You don’t want to merely be planning. You want to be practicing.

Ideas for Taking Action

I’m sure there are many strategies for taking action, but I can think of two that have worked for me.

1. Set a schedule for your actions.

Every Monday and every Thursday, I write a new article and publish it to the world. It’s just what happens on those days. It’s my schedule. I love Mondays and Thursdays because I know that I will always produce something on those days. I’ll get a result. That’s a good feeling.

For weightlifting, I train on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. That’s the schedule every week. I’m not planning workout exercises. I’m not researching workout programs. I’m simply working out. Action, not motion.

For on–going goals and lifestyle changes, I think this is the best approach. Set a schedule  for your actions and stick to it.

2. Pick a date to shift you from motion to action.

For some goals, setting a daily or weekly schedule doesn’t work as well.

This is the case if you’re doing something that is only going to happen once: like releasing your new book, or launching a new product, or taking a big exam, or submitting a major project.

These things require some planning up front (motion). They also require plenty of action to complete them. For example, you could set a schedule each week to write each chapter of your book. But for the book launch itself, you could spend weeks or months planning different venues, locations, and so on.

In a situation like this, I find that it’s best to simply pick a date. Put something on the calendar. Make it public. This is when X is happening.

For big projects or one–time goals, I think this is the best approach. Force yourself out of motion and into action by setting a hard deadline.

The bottom line is that it is very important to get into the action and trust the process. Results are not achieved overnight, you see a person at the top you only see his success not the hard work and the dedicated hours the person has put to get over there that is why it is often said process is important than result as you may not get what you want in the first go and if you get it you should set your goals high as you are capable of more and if not getting it in the first time you have the experience this time which is worth very much . So just emphasize on the process and always make things happen rather than thinking about them in your mind.

Breaking Bad vs Prison Break

The greatest difficulty lies in answering this question. Everyone will have their perspective of opinions regarding these most popular series. It’s definitely a fight between two well written scripts. The thrill everyone felt while watching the episodes can’t be described in words. Both the series had to end in a natural way because dragging it can make worse. But Prison break had made a way back in the year 2017 and released a finale which performed quite well.

Breking bad had broken many hearts. Most of the actors have won Emmys for their performance. The actors never appeared to act because we feel that they are living their orginal characters. May be director took the correct choice of characters or he created the characters according to them. The acting was so natural that it doesn’t seem like acting. The conversations were real. They spoke in a normal way. We don’t see them, we only see the characters. The creater of the show Vince Gilligan tried to portray the character of main lead as bad as possible, but we still try to take the side of the hero. Every character is so different and will imprint a everlasting impression. The villian of the show was so calm and dangerous. The less he spoke, the more we fear. Guss Fringe’s character had a great impact along with the lawyer named Saul. Their characters became so popular that the creater made another show named as Better call Saul which is the current popular show in television. Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul played the main leads namely Walter white and Jesse Pinkman respectively. Vince tried to end the character of Jesse in the season 1 itself. Due to the bonding between two leads actors he changed the script. The story after the series is depicted as movie named as The Breaking Bad movie. Special mention to Dean Norris who played Hank character made the audience emotional. The greatest characters of tv series definitely appear in this show. The way the actors took this show to another level is seen in the number of Emmy awards they won.

Prison break is my most favourite show and remained to be in top position since then. The screenplay of each episode makes us to see 90 episodes. Each episode is worth watching. The story appear to be predicted and in the mean while it turns into unpredictable. Every twist we witness will be forgettable because we have to witness the twist after the twist. It’s never ending process. The excitement we feel will never be felt. The characters will play with our emotions and we involve into such a extent that we urge to see all the episodes in a hurry. We tend to know about the next happenings. Every character has equal importance and will be remembered. Each character has a strong story. The nervousness about the show will definitely make us dream about it. We can’t sleep because we will be busy thinking about the show. Every tv series watcher should give a try because you will never know what you are missing.

Finally I want to conclude that both the shows have gained immense popularity. Breaking bad makes us to know what actually real acting meant whereas Prison break makes us feel the thrill with its screenplay and excellent unpredictable story . For me it’s definitely Prison break because it never made me sleep.

Body Shaming

“Do you ever stop and think about how often we are told to change our appearance?  Magazines constantly offer tips about how to lose weight “in days,” appear slimmer “instantly,” and hide our “imperfections”… without actually knowing anything about us, much less our appearance.  This is one example of body-shaming, and it is everywhere.  Sitcoms so frequently use overweight characters’ bodies as the basis of many of the show’s jokes.  It has become the norm to criticize aspects of our bodies as some type of bonding experience with friends – if we all hate our bodies; it somehow makes us feel connected and united.  Body-shaming (criticizing yourself or others because of some aspect of physical appearance) can lead to a vicious cycle of judgment and criticism.  Messages from the media and from each other often imply that we should want to change, that we should care about looking slimmer, smaller, and tanner.  And if we don’t, we worry that we are at risk of being the target of someone else’s body-shaming comments.

Body-shaming manifests in many ways:

1) Criticizing your own appearance, through a judgment or comparison to another person. (i.e.: “I’m so ugly compared to her.” “Look at how broad my shoulders are.”)

2) Criticizing another’s appearance in front of them, (i.e.: “With those thighs, you’re never going to find a date.”)

3) Criticizing another’s appearance without their knowledge. (i.e.: “Did you see what she’s wearing today? Not flattering.” “At least you don’t look like her!”).

No matter how this manifests, it often leads to comparison and shame, and perpetuates the idea that people should be judged mainly for their physical features.

This leads to the question: if it has such harsh consequences, why is body-shaming so common?  An example we often discuss at the Braintree Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is dealing with conflicts with peers.   Why, when we are upset, annoyed, or intimidated by someone, do we default to criticizing their appearance?  “Whatever, she’s ugly,” can be a go-to defense in these situations, particularly during adolescence and the young-adult years.  In some ways, it feels easier to shoot for something that will hurt, like targeting physical appearance, rather than expressing what is really going on emotionally.  Saying, “I’m really hurt by how my friend treated me,” or “I’m terrified of losing this friendship” opens us up and makes us more vulnerable, and therefore feels easier to bury underneath the body-shaming comments that rush to mind.

How do we challenge this?  In situations like those listed above, expressing true feelings rather than physical criticisms can be a great first step.  While recently discussing this with the Adolescent IOP, several patients admitted that it is hard to identify ways of expressing frustration without using body-shaming, as this has become an almost automatic response.

Practice identifying why you are upset about a situation.  For example, it’s unlikely that you’re mad at a friend because she’s breaking out, and more likely that you’re upset about a miscommunication or feeling of rejection.  Practice thinking it, and eventually, verbalizing it.

Identify who in your life is body-positive – or even body-neutral.  Think of people who celebrate their body for what it can do, and people who refuse to comment on others’ physical appearances.  Spending time with these people can be especially helpful while you are struggling with your own internalized body-shaming, and help you view yourself – and others – more positively.

Confront those who perpetuate body-shaming.  Once you’ve become more aware of your own body-shaming behaviors, you may notice how often your friends, family or co-workers do it.  Talk to them.  Discuss why it bothers you and help them see how it may also be hurtful to them.

Find something (or things!) you LIKE about your body.  We spend so much time witnessing advertisements about how to make our eyelashes millimeters longer and how to get whiter teeth that it’d be nice to counter some of that by celebrating what we do have.  Maybe, despite your body image struggles, you love a new hairstyle you discovered.  Maybe you’ve noticed how much stronger you feel with balanced eating.  Find something physical or nonphysical that makes you YOU and celebrate it every day.”

Thoughtful Gifts For Mourning Families

The hardest part of life is when someone passes over and the family have to grieve for their loved one. When you know someone who has lost a family member it can be difficult to know how best you should support them in their grieving process. This is especially true when it comes to choosing a gift to give at the funeral or something to give afterwards as a token of respect. But today we have a few ideas of things you can send or give to a family who has just lost someone.

Flowers

One of the most simple gifts you can give as a token of sympathy to a family is a bunch of flowers. Flowers are an easy idea because they are unbiased and simply offer a reminder of the life which has been lost. You can sendsympathy flowers by post or in person depending on where you are at the time and it can be something which cheers the family up and allows them to think of something more positive for a moment.

A photo frame

The idea of giving a gift to a family who has recently lost someone is hard and it can be difficult to know what is appropriate to give. One thing which is always going to be a winner in the family’s eyes is a photo frame of them with the lost family member or a large group photo of everyone including you. It can be something which takes them back to a more positive time and it can make all the difference to them.

A poem

For those of the family who will be unable to speak at the funeral due to being too upset, you could do them a huge favour and take their place at the altar, reading out a beautiful poem to remember them once they are gone. The weight this will lift off their shoulders is worth more than any gift and the support you can give will be the best thing they could hope for on such a hard day.

Ashes Jewellery

Depending on whether the person who has passed will be cremated or buried, you could actually do something which can be more than valuable for the family. There are many companies out there who make amazing jewellery out of the ashes of people who have died and this will mean that the family can literally carry their loved ones around with them forever and ever. It can be the most amazing thing and it will let them hold onto their loved one forever.

A Shirt Pillow

Or someone who has lost a family member, the thing they often want more than anything is a hug. You can make it so that they are always there for a hug by turning an old t-shirt or jumper into a pillow for the family. It will have their scent on and it will be a way for them to always be by their side.
