Happily Ever After- A Poem

i close my eyes and dream

of a perfect world

of the one promised to me

when I was 6

fairies and mermaids

princesses and unicorns

little did i know

that there were no kingdoms under the sea

there were no happily ever afters

every time a promise is broken

i die a little but inside

but now

i create my own perfect world

and long no longer for the rainbows

i have grown

and learnt

to see the beauty in the rain

i now realise

that my happily ever after

is right here 

and right now
