DIGITAL FOOTPRINTS :

A digital footprint is a trail of data you create while using the Internet. It includes the websites you visit, emails you send, and information you submit to online services.

A passive digital footprint is a data trail you unintentionally leave online. Websites that install cookies on your devices, apps and websites that use your geolocation, and social media that uses your likes, shares and comments to profile you are examples of a passive digital footprint.

My life is art. Art is my life :

Being an artist isn’t just about putting pencil to paper, or brush to canvas. Art can and does mean so much more than that, to so many people. Art is a way of seeing the world, a way of expression, oftentimes a compulsion: we simply must create!

Art may be a way to explore your world or your imagination. Art may inspire a beginning painter to take steps into learning a new medium, or an accomplished artist to experiment with a new technique. Art is teaching, art is learning. Art can be exciting, empowering, and an expression of love. Art can be a challenge: both frustrating and rewarding at the same time, leading to a sense of accomplishment — or a determination to do more. Art can be a message: of politics, of peace, of brutality or beauty. Art can be an escape, an idealization, or simply a means of play. Art can be anything and everything you let it be!

To succeed they have to work very hard. Picasso said inspiration comes when you are working. They have to have complete mastery of the materials they use which takes endless practice. They have to be aware of what other artists have done. And then the best ones have to have original ideas they want to express.

3D Printed organs

Bioprinting is a method that enables cellular structures to be made from bio inks loaded with stem cells. Layer by layer, the biomaterial is deposited to create skin, tissue or even an organ. Bioprinting projects are growing, and each new project is one-step closer to being a fully functional and viable solution. Laboratories and research centers are bioprinting human livers, kidneys and hearts. The objective is to make them suitable for transplantation, and viable long-term solutions. In fact, this method could allow to cope with the lack of organ donors, and to better study and understand certain diseases. There is still progress to be made but we wanted to present the main bioprinting projects in the listing below, including 3D printed organs and other human body parts.

Bioprinted ovaries :

In May 2017, researchers from Northwestern University were developing a solution for women with fertility issues. Back then, they had succeeded in implanting a bio-printed ovary in a sterile mouse. Two years later, the researchers made some very promising progress. They were able to map the location of structural proteins in a pig ovary, allowing them to create a bio ink to bio print functional ovaries for human use. Additionally, the team explained that their methodology could be used to identify other types of proteins that could facilitate the creation of bio inks for other organs!

Bioprinting pancreas :

A team of scientists from the “Foundation for Research and Development of Science” has set itself the goal of developing a functional 3D printed pancreas by 2020, which will help diabetic patients avoid having to inject insulin and minimize the risk of related secondary complications, which often lead to death. For the bioprinting, a biopsy of the patient, and stem cell harvest is first performed. The cells are then converted into cells capable of producing insulin and glucagon.

ORGAN TRANSPLANTATION :

Organ transplantation — the surgical removal of a healthy organ from one person and its transplantation into another person whose organ has failed or was injured — is often lifesaving and gives the recipient a wonderful new lease on life.

Living donors are arranged through the individual transplant centers, according to UNOS. Another option, if you need a kidney transplant, is to contact the National Kidney Foundation’s National Donor Family Council.

Your living organ donor can be a spouse or other family member or an unrelated person such as a friend, Spicer says. The potential living donor’s blood is tested to see if they are compatible with the recipient.

But even if the blood types are not compatible, you may be able to find a program that allows proxy donors. This is when someone who doesn’t match the intended donor can still donate the organ for someone else’s use, and the intended donor goes to the top of the transplant list.

Another possibility is called paired kidney exchange in which recipients who have donors that are not compatible can enter programs where they are able to “swap” donors.

Those who need a transplant often ask if they can buy an organ. The answer is simple: No. In the United States, it is a felony to buy an organ.

Feminism :

Feminism, a belief in the political, economic and cultural equality of women, has roots in the earliest eras of human civilization. It is typically separated into three waves: first wave feminism, dealing with property rights and the right to vote; second wave feminism, focusing on equality and anti-discrimination, and third wave feminism, which started in the 1990s as a backlash to the second wave’s perceived privileging of white, straight women.

Feminism, the belief in social, economic, and political equality of the sexes. Although largely originating in the West, feminism is manifested worldwide and is represented by various institutions committed to activity on behalf of women’s rights and interests.

Yes! Being a feminist simply means believing in equal rights for all genders. It’s not about hating men. It’s not about women being better than men. It’s not about eschewing femininity.

DIGITAL MARKETING :

Digital marketing is the act of selling products and services through channels such as social media, SEO, email, and mobile apps. Basically, digital marketing is any form of marketing that involves electronic devices.

It can be done online and offline, and in fact, both kinds are important for a well-rounded digital marketing strategy.

Digital marketing puts you in those same channels, so your best prospects can see you, learn more about you, and even ask questions to learn more about you and your products or services.

If you’re new to digital marketing, it may feel overwhelming to think about mastering all the online marketing tactics used in digital marketing.

Having a strong digital presence will help you in multiple ways:

  • It will make it easier to create awareness and engagement both before and after the sale
  • It will help you convert new buyers into rabid fans who buy more (and more often)
  • It will kickstart word-of-mouth and social sharing—and all the benefits that come with them
  • It will shorten the buyer’s journey by presenting the right offers at the right time

FUTURE OF SOCIAL MEDIA :

Social networks are becoming more and more popular. More than 80% of the 4.66 billion people on the planet with access to the internet are social network users… and this share is expected to grow! A few years ago, we were happy to get likes from friends and relatives; today, we share tips and skills, promote services, buy goods, etc.

Many well-known companies, from food manufacturers to large automotive companies, already actively communicate with customers through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other platforms. Some brands have even ditched their websites and completely switched to social networks.

Some of the big names in social media currently are: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Reddit, YouTube, and TikTok. Each of these presents an innumerable number of ways to present the business and promote the product. Each platform also has a specific way in which the content is tailored to the consumer, and that is where the business chooses which is right for it. It is critical that the business understands each platform so as they do not waste time and money advertising on a platform that does not make sense for them.

For example, say, a wood supplier is looking into what form of social media marketing to delve into. Since they have a very specific target demographic, it would not make sense for them to run general story ads on Instagram or Snapchat. However, it would make sense to run ads for a YouTube video for a DIY project. Partnering with an influencer who works with a lot of wood in their projects would also work. This example illustrates the importance of understanding your field and marketing the business properly within it.

The last core point, when it comes to the future of social media marketing is how important it will soon become to have a good reputation on the internet. With the advent of the internet news travels faster than ever. So, while there may have been a time where “any advertising is good advertising” may have rung true that is not the case anymore. All it takes to ruin a brand image is one tweet, Facebook post, Reddit thread, or YouTube video denouncing a product or service to tank a brand. To make sure the business is favorable in the public eye it is crucial that the business has mostly positive reviews, listens to complaints or comments on posts, creates fresh content, is up to date on current trends, and focuses on customer relations. Following these rules should set up most businesses for success in the future of social media marketing.

CARBON FOORPRINTS :

A carbon footprint corresponds to the whole amount of greenhouse gases (GHG) produced to, directly and indirectly, support a person’s lifestyle and activities. Carbon footprints are usually measured in equivalent tons of CO2, during the period of a year, and they can be associated with an individual, an organization, a product or an event, among others. The GHGs whose sum results in a carbon footprint can come from the production and consumption of fossil fuels, food, manufactured goods, materials, roads or transportation. And despite its importance, carbon footprints are difficult to calculate exactly due to poor knowledge and short data regarding the complex interactions between contributing processes – including the influence of natural processes that store or release carbon dioxide.

A carbon footprint is the amount of greenhouse gases—primarily carbon dioxide—released into the atmosphere by a particular human activity. A carbon footprint can be a broad measure or be applied to the actions of an individual, a family, an event, an organization, or even an entire nation. It is usually measured as tons of CO2 emitted per year, a number that can be supplemented by tons of CO2-equivalent gases, including methane, nitrous oxide, and other greenhouse gases.

Methods of reducing your carbon footprint include driving more-efficient vehicles (or making sure that your current vehicles are properly maintained), taking public transportation, using energy-efficient appliances, insulating your home to reduce heating and air conditioning costs, consuming food that doesn’t require as much transportation, and eating less meat, which has a higher carbon footprint than fruits and vegetables. Individuals and companies can also offset some of their CO2 emissions by purchasing carbon credits, the money from which can go into projects such as planting trees or investing in renewable energy.

A passive digital footprint is a data trail you unintentionally leave online. Websites that install cookies on your devices, apps and websites that use your geolocation, and social media that uses your likes, shares and comments to profile you are examples of a passive digital footprint.

Most people create a digital footprint when they use online services.

They may actively publish their own information by sharing – for example publishing personal information or images about a holiday, interest or event. And they may passively – often unintentionally – contribute metadata to the services they make use of. This could include their device IP address, browsing behaviour and ‘loyalty’ to any service that tracks individual or anonymised user information.

The most common forms of risk reported to Netsafe related to individual digital footprints are:

  • Publishing or sharing information that results in harm to reputation, such as loss of employment.
  • Publishing personal information that leads to online bullying or harassment.

TIPS FOR PROTECTING YOUR DIGITAL FOOTPRINT

There are a few tips you can take to protect your digital footprint:

  • Value your personal information
  • Be cautious about what you publish and where you share
  • Think about your online privacy and review platform settings.
  • Manage your reputation – evaluate what the impact could be when publishing a photo, status update, comment or review before you post it.
  • Stop and think about the effect it could have on you and those around you longer term.

GENDER EQUALITY

Gender equality: what is it and why do we need it?

We need gender equality urgently. Find out what gender equality means and why it’s important.

Gender equality is when people of all genders have equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities. Everyone is affected by gender inequality – women, men, trans and gender diverse people, children and families. It impacts people of all ages and backgrounds.

We need gender equality urgently. Gender equality prevents violence against women and girls. It’s essential for economic prosperity. Societies that value women and men as equal are safer and healthier. Gender equality is a human right. Everyone benefits from gender equality.  Gender equality is a fundamental human right. Yet despite progress, women and girls around the world do not fully experience equal rights and their potential as economic, social and sustainable development change-agents remains untapped.

Gender equality is a fundamental human right. Yet despite progress, women and girls around the world do not fully experience equal rights and their potential as economic, social and sustainable development change-agents remains untapped. Empowering women and girls helps expand economic growth, promote social development and establish more stable and just societies. Women’s economic empowerment benefits both women and children. It is pivotal to the health and social development of families, communities and nations. Further, the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) underscore women’s empowerment as an important development objective, in and of itself, and highlight the relevance of gender equality to addressing a wide range of global challenges.

A growing number of business leaders recognize the importance of women as leaders, consumers, entrepreneurs, workers and caretakers. They are adapting their policies, programme and initiatives to create environments where women and girls thrive

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

Women Empowerment is made up of two words women and empowerment. Empowerment means to give power or authority to someone. So, Women Empowerment means power in the hands of women. It signifies that women should be given equal opportunity in every field, irrespective of any discrimination. Our society comprises men and women. In earlier times, men were considered to be the leading members of a family. They were responsible for earning the livelihood and were the decision takers of the family. On the other hand, women were responsible for doing household work and upbringing of the children. So, the roles were mainly based on gender. There was no involvement of women in decision making. If we assess our entire sector, then research says that women’s issues are either focused on her reproductive role and her body or on her economic role as a worker. But none of them is focused on empowering the women.Women can be empowered in various ways. It can be done through government schemes as well as on an individual basis. At the individual level, we should start respecting women and start giving them opportunities equal to men. We should promote and encourage them to take up jobs, higher education, business activities, etc. The Government has come up with various schemes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana, Mahila-E-Haat, Mahila Shakti Kendra, Working Women Hostel, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, etc. to empower women. Apart from these schemes, we as individuals can also empower women by abolishing social evils like the dowry system, child marriage. These small steps will change the situation of women in society and make them feel empowered.

WHITE REVOLUTION :

White Revolution was one of the biggest dairy development movements, by the Indian Government, in India in 1970. It was a step taken by the Indian Government to develop and help the dairy industry sustain itself economically by developing a co-operative, while providing employment to the poor farmers.

The White Revolution helped increase milk productivity and milk was now sold at competitive market prices. This program increased the demand for development and production of healthy animals, use of modern technology in milk production sector and networking between various small and large scale dairy industries.

The White Revolution followed after the success of the Green Revolution and the aim of White Revolution was to make India one of the largest milk producers in the world.

Phase 1: This phase started in July 1970 with the objective of setting up dairy cooperatives in 18 milk sheds in 10 states. They were to be linked with the four best metropolitan markets. By the end of this phase in 1981 there were 13,000 village dairy cooperatives covering 15,000 farmers.

Phase 2: It aimed at building on the designs of phase 1 and on the assisted Dairy development programmes in Karnataka, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. By the end of this phase in 1985 there were 136 milk sheds, 34,500 village dairy cooperatives and over 36 lakh members.

Phase 3: This phase emphasised on consolidating the gains of the earlier two phases by improving the productivity and efficiency of the dairy sectors for long term sustainability. It ended in 1996 and by that time there were 73,300 dairy cooperatives and over 9.4 million farmer members.

Advantages of White Revolution

  1. It ended the imports of milk solids in India and India started exporting milk powder to many foreign nations.
  2. Dairy industries and infrastructures modernised and expanded. Around 10 million farmers earn their income from dairy farming.
  3. Dairy needs are met locally.
  4. Genetic improvement of milking animals has increased due to cross breeding.

Human Genome Project (HGP)

The Human Genome Project (HGP) was the international, collaborative research program whose goal was the complete mapping and understanding of all the genes of human beings. All our genes together are known as our “genome.”

The HGP has revealed that there are probably about 20,500 human genes. This ultimate product of the HGP has given the world a resource of detailed information about the structure, organization and function of the complete set of human genes. This information can be thought of as the basic set of inheritable “instructions” for the development and function of a human being.

The International Human Genome Sequencing Consortium published the first draft of the human genome in the journal Nature in February 2001 with the sequence of the entire genome’s three billion base pairs some 90 percent complete. More than 2,800 researchers who took part in the consortium shared authorship.A startling finding of this first draft was that the number of human genes appeared to be significantly fewer than previous estimates, which ranged from 50,000 genes to as many as 140,000. The full sequence was completed and published in April 2003.

Although scientists have performed many of these tasks and experiments for decades, the Human Genome Project is unique and remarkable for the enormity of its effort. The human genome contains 3 billion DNA building blocks (i.e., nucleotides), enough to fill approximately one thousand 1,000-page telephone books if each nucleotide is represented by one letter. Given the size of the human genome, researchers must develop new methods for DNA analysis that can process large amounts of information quickly, cost-effectively, and accurately. These techniques will characterize DNA for family studies of disease, create genomic maps, determine the nucleotide sequence of genes and other large DNA fragments, identify genes, and enable extensive computer manipulations of genetic data.

ONLINE EDUCATION

Online education is a form of education where students use their home computers through the internet. For many nontraditional students, among them all those who want to continue working full time or raising families, online graduations and courses have become popular in the past decade. Often online graduation and course programmes, some of which are conducted using digital technologies, are provided via the online learning portal of the host university.

It’s not easier studying online! Online institutions must meet with the same quality requirements as brick-and-mortar institutions. With the advancement of online learning technologies, virtual institutions have enhanced automated processes to deter fraud and/or plagiarism.

Many online institutions will partner with universities on campus to develop and deliver online programs. This enables an online service, while providing validated course studies through the brick-and-mortar institution, to benefit from the advanced expertise and technology that an online provider provides.
