House No.- XXX
TG Nagar
Rourkela

January 7th, 2015

To,
The Chairman
Municipal Committee
Rourkela

Subject: Need for a Library

Sir,

The residents of Basai have always looked forward to you for providing better civic amenities to this village which is fast getting urbanised. You have helped this village to upgrade the middle school to class tenth. T.V. sets have been for public viewing. But, unfortunately the village lacks a library.

There is no source of recreation for anyone. The young and old are compelled to spend their leisure time glued to the T.V. or indulging in useless gossip.

The village library can change their way of living. It will upgrade and update their knowledge and upgrade the school learning.

It will keep them abreast with new information and will equipped them with technical and scientific knowledge for improving the yields of their forms.

If a suitable plot of land is allowed, and some library grant is provided the village shall raise funds to build a small library.

Thanking you.

Yours faithfully

Letter to the Editor of a newspaper critcising the indiscriminate use of loudspeakers

H. No.- XXX
Hazratganj,
Lucknow

10th January 2015

The Editor
The Times of India
Lucknow

Subject: Indiscriminate use of loudspeakers

Sir,

Through the esteemed column of your newspaper, I wish to draw the attention of the authorities to the evil of indiscriminate use of loudspeakers.

Loudspeakers are one of the gifts of science and have a great utility. They come very handy to address a large gathering. But we face trouble when people use it without caring for the interests of others.

Loudspeakers are now being used all the time and frequently throughout the night at high pitch. Even small shopkeepers misuse them to attract customers. In marriages and in lavish night parties, the free use of stereos and deafening high pitch shocks the whole locality. Then there is a spate of Bhagwati Jagrans which by using the highest pitch of the loudspeakers force the people to stay away the whole night. Nobody cares whether there are students preparing for their examination or patients requiring undisturbed rest or people, after day long hard toil, longing to sleep.

The public needs that there should be some restriction and special permission and time limit for their use; deterrent punishment for the infringement of orders.

Thanking you.

Yours faithfully

Short Essay on \’I had a dream\’ (170 Words)

I had a pleasant dream last night. I went to bed late and was fast asleep. Suddenly, I felt that I was in fairyland. There was a big garden. The flowers were blooming. The fairies were singing beautiful songs. One fairy came to me and greeted me with a sweet smile. She offered me a small chair to sit on and enjoy the dance. Then I saw a little child playing on the flute. He arrived in the midst of the fairies. There were some dwarfs and elves sitting nearby. There was a beautiful river. The Sun was shiny and a cool breeze was blowing.

I sat under a shady tree. The tree was laden with fruits. The child brought some fruits for me. Then they again started singing and dancing. It was a beautiful scene.

When I was taking fruit and enjoying dancing, suddenly woke up. My mother asked me to get up and prepare for school. Dreams, whether good or bad, always have an ending of such type only.
