Modi Government Achievements

Modi can be judged on his government’s five year performance which are follows to read:

Ayushman BharatThe health insurance scheme launched on September 23, 2018, has already benefited 10 lakh poor patients and could be an electoral game-changer. More than 500 million Indians who could not afford medical treatment for non-communicable illnesses like cancer and heart disease now have access to free healthcare.

The Insolvency and Bankruptcy CodeThe legislation, enacted in December 2016, is the silver bullet to tackle India’s chronic problem of non-performing assets. Banks have begun to recover debts that had seemingly turned irretrievably bad. “Phone banking” has ground to a halt.

SanitationThe Swachh Bharat Mission has built toilets at an unprecedented pace. Since October 2014, over 92 million toilets have been constructed, covering nearly 500 million households in one of the world’s largest operations of its kind. Cultural habits, however, mean that open-air defecation remains endemic. Many newly-built toilets lack sewage facilities; others are being used as storage rooms. Nonetheless, a beginning has been made.

Digital transfer of subsidiesThis has cut out most (though not all) middlemen who routinely siphoned off large chunks of benefits due to the poor. Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister, had famously said in December 1985, while addressing the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Congress, that only 15 paise out of every rupee in subsidies reaches the poor. With digitised transfers that figure has probably risen to 75 paise.

Free LPG cylindersUnder the Ujjwala Yojana scheme, women in villages now have access to cooking gas. This has both health and economic benefits. Over 60 million free LPG connections have been given with nearly 50 per cent going to SC/ST households.

PUBG MOBILE APP BANNED BY GOVERNMENT

PUBG MOBILE, a wildly popular online multiplayer shooting game, is among 118 Chinese apps blocked by the government Wednesday amid tension over fresh Chinese provocation in Ladakh. Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has banned 118 more Chinese apps including one of the most popular mobile games PUBG Mobile. The official press release stated that all of these apps have been “banned under section 69A of the Information Technology Act”. The government said that it has “decided to block 118 mobile apps since in view of the information available they are engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of the state and public order.”

The apps have been banned in the country on Wednesday. The apps are still available on the Google Play store and Apple App store. It takes some time for such orders to get enforced and hence both PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite are still available on the app stores. Users can still be able to download the game before it’s gone from the app store. If PUBG MOBILE does not turn off server access to the region, users will still be able to play the game on their smartphone.

In a measure of PUBG’s huge popularity in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during an event on exam stress last year, had remarked to a mother complaining about her teen: “Yeh PUBG-wala hai kya (Is he a PUBG player?)”.

In June, the government banned 59 mobile apps including Bytedance’s TikTok, Alibaba’s UC Browser and Tencent’s WeChat, also citing security concerns. After the PUBG Mobile ban, many people are worried about their money, which they had invested in the game for buying skins, Royale Pass and more. PUBG Mobile has not provided any statement regarding this. But, most possibly players will have to raise a dispute regarding this on the respective app stores to get their money back.

BJP to hold virtual rallies in all districts to mark the occasion.

Bringing out Indian economy from fragile five, removing the country from the shadow of terrorism and preparing it for the decisive fight against the menace, resolving to rejuvenate farmers and poor in the true sense and ability to turn challenges into opportunities were hallmarks of the first five – year tenure of Narendra Modi Government. During the first year of its second term, the NDA Government has stressed on convergence to realize the dream of New India.  As Prime Minister Narendra Modi had mentioned, during his first speech after Lok Sabha poll victory in May last year, the country will now have only two castes – the poor and those who want to alleviate poverty, the government has left no stone unturned to work in this direction.

Our correspondent takes a look at significant steps and welfare measures taken by the NDA Government in the last one year.

The abrogation of  Articles 370 and 35A from Jammu and Kashmir, paving the way and expediting the construction of Ram Temple, banning Triple Talaq to provide justice to Muslim women and enactment of  Citizenship  Amendment Act are among the major historic decisions of the Narendra Modi Government during this period. The extension of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi to all the farmers in the country for providing six thousand rupees per year, pension for small and marginal farmers as well as for small traders are also the significant highlights. During this period, the government has also created a new Jal Shakti Ministry. The decisive leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given new direction to country’s foreign and defence policies which have changed the world view towards India. The government has reformed the higher defence management by creating the post of Chief of Defence Staff to facilitate optimal utilization of resources and promote jointness among the three services. The country’s economy was kept strong despite global slowdown during this tenure. Above all the government action during the COVID-19 pandemic to check the spread of infection along with protecting the interest of all sections of the society have been remarkable.
