The name is used for the togetherness of the 7 states of the northeastern part of India.
Assam, Arunachal Pradesh,, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura .

In 2002, Sikkim became the eighth state. All together they share an international border of 5,182 kilometers with several neighboring countries such as Tibet, China, Myanmar, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan.

Northeastern region was originated in the 19th century during the British rule in India, In the time between 1839 and 873 it was a part of Bengal Province .In the independence year of India, Northeastern region was consist of Assam, Manipur, and Tripura. Later others states were formed from the larger areas of Assam. at the time of British rule Shillong was the capital of Assam . After Meghalaya was formed the capital of Assam was shifter from Shillong to Dispur. The states of the Northeast region are officially recognized under the North Eastern Council, in 1971.

They are called Seven sisters was those starts are interdependent, They are connected to India through the Siliguri corridor.

Northeastern states have the raw beauty of nature surrounded by broad valleys, rolling hills, and low mountains with unseen areas for once a watch. The culture of the northeast is varied and unique, it is the homeland of a large number of tribes, a total of 145. People of the northeast are not a follower to a single religion, there are mixed of followers of Buddhism, Muslim, Christianity, and Hinduism.

The cuisine of Northeast is varied, with wholesome of mouthwatering dishes of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, the local delicacies are like Bamboo shoot pickle, thukpa, Kappa, kinalas, and smoked pork, Momos.

northeastern states have a unique contribution in the field of art and craft, it has their craft culture roots in ancient times, local people are mastered in weaving and wood-craving, silk weaving, cane crafts, jewelry making, which they produce and happily share with the world.

Along with their raw beauty of nature, they have pride in their folk songs and dance and creating several unique musical instruments like Labang, Tamak Drum, etc. Shillong has considered to music capital know for the hub of rock music, organizing many music festivals like Ziro music festivals, weekender, apart from them some mesmerizing festivals are Loshar of Arunchal pradesh ,Moastu Mong of Nagaland, Anthurium of Mizoram.

Northeastern states are never behind in literature, it has its unique literature apart from English, some famous artists like Anand Kumar Agarwal, Amulya Barua, Anand Chandra Barua, Easterine Kire, Lakshminath Bezbaruah. it’s the treasure trove of the national park and wildlife sanctuaries. Covering 28 out of all India, such as Kaziranga National Park, Manas National Park, Namari National Park, and so on, with breathtaking views of flora and fauna.
