Life and Work of R.N.Tagore(7th May,1861- 7th August,1941)

One of the greatest person in the world i.e., Rabindranath Tagore was born in the year 1861.He is also famous by his pen name Bhanu Singh Thakur (Bonita), and also known by his nicknames Gurudev, KabiGuru as well as Biswaka Kavi. Professionally he was a poet, musician as well as artist plus dramatist who took birth in Indian Sub-Continents. He is the one who reformed the Bengali Literature and music, as well as Indian Art with Contextual Modernism. Author of the profoundly sensitive, fresh and amusing words of Gitanjali, in 1930, he was the one who won the Nobel Prize in Literature. Tagore’s poetic songs where observed as spiritual and mercurial; however, his elegant prose and magical poetry remain largely unknown out Bengal. He was also  called as “The Bard of Bengal”.

Rabindranath Tagore was a great poet and was considering ― “Artist of Life”, because he knew the art of life and living. An artist is considered as true lover of life he can communicate with both the Almighty God and at the same time perform duties for the society and the world. According to him the most important thing is practice of realizing and affirming the presence of the infinity in all the things. He considers every day as a process of surrounding ourselves and reducing and removing obstacles with the spirit of Supreme Being. Extending one consciousness towards devotion and service and goodness and love is what one should have. He was well familiar with the inner secret of life and the true relation between Man and the God and the Universe. And most importantly he was not a world refusing mystic leaving in seclusion and avoiding the company of fellow human and society. He was a true lover of life and has the courage to happily face and accept what life presents in front of him. He also had a great knowledge of being practical and rendering services to humanity of how to translate the inner to the outer and his medium was through the inspiration of duty.

He says: ― “It is very characteristic of life that it is not complete within itself; it must come out. It truth is in the commerce of the inside and the outside”. And he further says that: ― “When a man feels the rhythmic throb of the soul- life of the whole world in his own soul, then he is free”. He was one of the most inspiring men who feel that the main characteristics which should be present in an artist are the way of dealing life. One must gain the ability of positive attitude towards the leaving world on the basis of his or her profound understanding of the dual reality of life. This duality exist in once own goodness and without it no creation would be possible. Love is the alpha and omega of all life and existence which could transform and harmonize everything.

What does the word realize me? According to Tagore when we perceived, comprehended and realize our inseparableness with God, we called itself realize or God Realize.

Tagore says: “Our existence is meaningless if we can never expect to realize the highest perfection.” He further says that ― “God can be known by joy and by love”. For joy is knowledge in it completeness, it should be known by our whole being. Intellect sets up apart from the thing to be known, but love knows it object by fusion. Such knowledge is immediate and admits no doubt.” The realize one is completely free because he speak from the very core of existence and address the universal heart of the naked and natural human being, excellently devoid of dogmas and isms, cast and creeds and any kind of national or other boundaries. Such a man was Rabindranath Tagore.

Psychological Disorders Part 8

Introduction

In Psychological Disorders Part 7, Depressive and Substance-Related disorders were discussed. They are both very serious disorders that need immediate help. Both can be dealt with by consulting a psychologist and taking the proper medication needed. This article will discuss Neurocognitive and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders.

Neurocognitive Disorders

These disorders are accompanied by deficits in cognitive functioning. These are different from the disorders of impaired cognition present at birth.

Delirium is a serious disorder concerning disturbance in mental abilities that results in confused thinking and reduced awareness of the surrounding environment. Delirium is usually very rapid; it starts within hours or a few days. It usually arises because of contributing factors such as a chronic illness, changes in metabolic balance, medication, infection, surgery, or intoxication. It is important to note that delirium and dementia look very similar but are different. Symptoms for reduced awareness of the environment are the inability to stay focused or continuously switching topics, getting easily distracted by useless things, getting stuck on one idea, and being withdrawn. Symptoms for poor thinking skills are disorientation, poor memory, difficulty in speaking or recalling words, trouble understanding speech, rambling, and difficulty in reading or writing. Some of the behavioural changes are hallucinations, calling out or moaning, lethargy, disturbed sleep habits, agitation, being withdrawn, and reversal of the night-day cycle. Some of the emotional disturbances experienced are depression, euphoria, apathy, anxiety, paranoia, anger, unpredictable moods, and personality changes.

Neurocognitive Disorders used to be known as Organic brain syndrome. It is a group of conditions that leads to impaired mental function. These disorders usually occur in older people but that does not mean they cannot affect young adults. It includes problems with memory, changes in behaviour, trouble performing daily activities, and difficulty understanding language. These symptoms may be caused because of a neurodegenerative condition like Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Neurodegenerative diseases result in the brain and nerves deteriorating over time which then causes loss of neurological function. Neurocognitive disorders can be a result of brain trauma or substance abuse. Symptoms for this are memory loss, confusion, anxiety, headaches, inability to focus, short-term memory loss, trouble performing normal tasks, changes in vision, and difficulty in walking and balancing. Some of the neurodegenerative diseases that cause this disorder are Alzheimer’s disease, Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, prion disease, dementia, and multiple sclerosis.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders

This is a category of psychiatric condition that includes obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), body-dysmorphic disorder, hoarding disorder, trichotillomania (hair-pulling disorder), excoriation disorder (skin picking), substance-induced OCD, and OCD because of a medical condition.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is a pattern of unwanted fear (obsessions) which leads to doing repetitive behaviours (compulsions). This starts interfering in the daily activities. When a person tries to ignore the obsessions, the anxiety keeps increasing hence making the urge to do the compulsions stronger, and this is how the cycle of OCD is created. Obsessions usually have a theme such as fear of contamination, having difficulty tolerating uncertainty, needing things to be symmetrical, having horrific thoughts about losing control, and unwanted thoughts on religion or sexual subjects. Symptoms of obsession are fear of touching people because of contamination, doubts whether you have locked the door or turned off the stove, images of driving into a crowd of people, unpleasant sexual images, excessive stress when objects are not placed orderly, thoughts about acting inappropriately in public and avoiding situations that might trigger obsessions. Symptoms of compulsion are washing hands till the skin becomes raw, checking doors repeatedly, checking the stove repeatedly, counting in a pattern, silently repeating a word or phrase, and arranging things in a particular order.

Conclusion

Neurocognitive disorders remain chronic but they can be controlled and monitored by medication and therapy. There is no exact way to prevent OCD but it can be treated by consulting a psychologist and learning how to deal with the fears that lead to the compulsions.

MUST-READ TWO BOOKS BY PAULO COELHO – 2

Paulo Coelho wrote many best-selling books most of which are popular all around the world. And translated in various languages. One of his masterpieces is Alchemist. All of his works are related to self-help and motivational genres.

Book: Veronica Decides To Die

Veronica is a young woman who commits suicide due to being full of emptiness in her life. While she waiting for death after taking a lot of sleeping pills she fainted and found herself in an asylum alive. But Doctor said that she has only a few days to live due to a heart condition caused by the overdose. Her presence there affects all of the mental hospital’s patients, especially Zedka, who has clinical depression; Mari, who has panic attacks; and Eduard, who has schizophrenia, and with whom Veronika falls in love. At least she wants to live or not is the key base of this novel.

Why you should read this book:

This one is not a boring plot, book content moves slow still does not let you drop the idea to read it. And this contains good vocabulary which is worth recommending to every reader. If you ever tried or at least thought once to end your life read this one it will make you believe in Miracle.

Book Quotes:

People never learn anything by being told, they have to find out for themselves.

You are someone who is different, but who wants to be the same as everyone else.

You have two choices, to control your mind or to let your mind control you.

Note: This book is also adapted as a film by Emily Young in 2009.

Book: The Spy

Mata Hari, the beautiful woman, the dancer, the courtesan, and the spy. She was the center of attraction wherever she goes… As a dancer she delighted her audiences, as a courtesan, she bewitched the richest and powerful men of the era. But is she really a spy?

Why you should read this one:

This book is based on real events. Mata Hari is a real person who is accused of espionage and executed.

On the back cover, it says, “Fiction.” But, I would rather love to say it’s a historical work.

When a man sleeps with many women, do we care to say any terms? So, I can’t criticize Mata Hari for being a courtesan.

In this work, I can visualize how men treated women as an object during those time. They gave preference for outer appearance. They wanted their wife to be loyal. But, those rules aren’t for them. And those things made my heart shrunk.

Book Quotes:

I decided to be who I always dreamed of. And the price of a dream is always high.

When we don’t know where life is taking us, we are never lost.

At this moment, I look back at my life and realize that memory is a river, one that always runs backward.

Recommendations:

I don’t recommend both of these books to children especially if you are younger than sixteen. One book contains intimate scenes and another one contains sexual harassment scenes. Thus I would like to recommend these to elder readers who are more than sixteen.

WHEN AND HOW TRANSPORT AND COMMUNICATION CAME TO EXISTENCE?

The Victorian era witnessed great strides been taken in the fields of transport and communications. There was a remarkable improvement in the social life of England during the 19th century. With the introduction of steamships, railways, penny post, telegram and cables the entire society underwent a dramatic change. Life I was never the same again. The slow pace of the stage coach disappeared and the age of speed arrived.

RAILWAYS THE MOST IMPORTANT MEANS OF TRANSPORT:

The most important means of transport in the Victorian period was the railway. It was the outcome of experience conducted to find the best method of moving coal from mines to places where it was required. As Trevelyan puts it “the railways were England’s gift to the world”. The first efficient steam engine was made by James watt in 1769 this engines which was stationary were used at first to pump water out of mines or to operate the power loom in factories it was only later that these engines were used in vehicles the year 1819 is an important one in the history of steamship because the Atlantic ocean was cross for the first time by a ship fitted with steam engines “The Savannah”. The story of the railways is even more exciting. It brought about a complete revolution in the way of life and in the landscape of the country. Richard Trevithick what’s up pioneer of locomotives in 1804 steam carriage transporter carload of passengers for the first time. George Stephenson produced an engine which was used chiefly to carry coal. The first two railways lines in the world were built one between Stockton and Darlington and another between Liverpool and Manchester.

POPULARITY OF THE BICYCLE:

The popularity of railways founded the death knell of roads and canals. The public mail coach and the heavy family coach disappeared from the roads. They continue to exist on by roads connecting me railway station and the towns. The roads regain their importance only when the motor vehicles came into use. One thing that help the roads to regain their long lost importance was the fashionable use of the bicycle. The common use of the motor car and motor bicycle was yet to come when Queen Victoria died in 1901.

PENNY POST:

Many innovations were made in the area of communications in the 19th century. An outstanding development in the means of communication was the establishment of the penny post in 1840. It was the result of unselfish and tireless efforts of Sir Rowland Hill who was originally a teacher by profession.Post had been a government Monopoly in England’s in strain of James I. There was a tax on letters but it was very difficult to impose its deadly sins private travellers smuggled letters. The introduction of the penny post sending letters was a costly affair and something which the poor could not afford. Rowland Hill’s proposed hello rate of postage would increase the revenue of the state by increasing the volume of male, all postage rate should be the same without regard to distance and all mail should be prepaid for which he suggested a device which was known as the postage stamp. He he faced a lot of opposition in suggesting the postage stamp, from the indifference statement and uninformed civil service. Carlyle (a great writer of that time) in one of his letters to his mother expressed anxiety that the art of letter writing will become worsen. The letter writing system was very helpful to many and that was the first time for the poor, in the history of mankind to communicate with their loved ones from whom they were separated. It was a success.

ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH:

The same decade of penny post also witnessed the introduction of electric graph which was based on the invention of Samuel Morse. After the many difficulties Samuel Morse was able to build his first telegraph line in the United States from Baltimore to Washington in 1843. The next year he sent his first message “What hath God wrought”. Later after the spreading of telegraph lines, the inventor Samuel Moses was rewarded by many governments of Europe. The first telegraph company was formed in 1846 had 17 offices in London by 1854. the first successful cable was laid in 1866 and in 1870’s Stearns and Edison developed method of sending more than one messages over the wire at a time.

TELEPHONE:

The telephone was the most popular and easiest means of communication. It was invented by Alexander Graham bell and naturalized American. In 1856 with an apparatus embodying the results of office studies in the transmission of sound by electricity and this invention with modification and constitutes the modern telephone. After two years when Graham bell visited England he demonstrator is invention before Queen Victoria. Only per the support given by her, the first telephone exchange was opened in England in 1879 with 7 or 8 subscribers. Many telephone companies were organised in Great Britain in the cause of the next few years. The uses of telephone communication began to be appreciated the government gradually took over the service. It is today one of the easiest means of communications.

Is It Necessary To Leave An Impact In Business?

“If you think you’re too small to have an impact, try going to bed with a mosquito.”

Anita Roddick

When we begin a business, we surely do have a target audience in mind be it local business or a huge global company. Let us consider an example of a local business here, like the sale of school wear which would include children as your target audience in the age group 6 to 14. On the basis of this data, you abide by the norms of a particular school which specifies a dress code which you consider during sales.

However, if your business is concerned with random clothes for children, then you have the freedom to analyze the patterns and designs modern children would prefer. You would understand the current market trends with which today’s children flow. In short, you will try to delve into the psychology of young minds through various mediums be it surveying, interviewing some children in person, or market researching that is checking out your competitors and observing the ways they receive traffic!

Why do you do all this? Perhaps the common answer would be to sell your commodities. But before that, an important step is usually missed out- Impact! We do say that by advertising our services people would purchase our goods but the chain includes another element. Advertising – Impact – Purchase!

There are times when even after advertising their services people aren’t satisfied with the results. That is because your services haven’t left that deep an impact on the audience. With impact comes value. Let us consider our own psychology. When do we really appreciate a service and go for it? Is it just because of its attractive advertisement? No. Only when the service seems beneficial and leaves a positive impact on our minds, do we value it and decide to try it out. That is exactly why, every business tries to prove its genuineness in business so as to leave a good impression on the mob out there!

Leaving an impact means getting into the depths of human psychology and the current market needs. Checking reviews of your competitors and coming up with services which they couldn’t, can create a good influence. So, one can say that uniqueness and impact go hand in hand. However, human psychology as an element is added in the chain. Of course, you can create a unique service but what good is it, if it can’t satisfy one’s desires? A point to remember is that, services leave an impact when more desires of people are met. However, later customer satisfaction too matters, that is the way you treat your customers. That would determine the quality of your services which would be the aftermath. Impact however, is significant in compelling people to approach you through your creative banners all over social media! Impact puts your advertisement to action! Its’ a mini but extremely effective call to action!

Some businesses still work but they receive fewer customers who would be interested, which means that partial psychology has been taken into consideration here. One must usually go for a generalized preference on part of people instead of delving into a portion of it, to gain a good surplus! For instance, a shop selling real gemstones may receive partial response while a shop manufacturing rings with gemstones would definitely appeal to the mob because it adds value and utility to the product.

Limitations and restrictions in services that cover a specific area or gender of the society may not receive that good a response. For instance, a Men’s wear shop will fetch limited customers as opposed to a Unisex clothing shop, won’t it? Absence of limitations or restrictions too leaves a positive impact on the audience.

A Shopping Center is a perfect example of diversity in choices because it offers no restrictions! Various shops sell varied items that grab people’s attention which is the reason malls are always crowded!

Thus, Impact and Value get along well together. They are inseparable and besties forever! When we value something, it definitely has impacted us somewhere in our mind which is forcing us to try that particular service or product out! Thus, the responsibility of a business owner is to arouse this attraction towards a particular service or product in the minds of potential customers by following the given chain:

Consider Human Psychology- Introduce The Service- Effective Advertisement- Leave A Positive Impact (which eventually creates Value)- Have A Successful Sale!

A Memorable Spooky Experience.

Ok, i will narrate my experience you can decide whether it was paranormal or not. Sorry some of you may find it lengthy. I am a big believer of paranormal, and may be this is the reason that i have had a couple of paranormal experiences.

Who Knocks?’ ‘I who was beautiful Beyond all dreams to restore, I from the roots of the dark thorn am hither And knock on the door.’

Lines from Walter De La Mare’s The Ghost haunt my memory as I take a walk back to the past. People usually refer to the past as dead and buried. Is it really so?

It was a cold night in Deogarh, Jharkhand. I was in Class V then. We were supposed to go to a party at a friend’s house about one-and-a-half kilometres away. My mother was working in the local school. Mum and Dad were supposed to reach the house of Barry Uncle, our host while I was to be accompanied by our caretaker, Ramu.

It was a moonlit night. Deogarh is surrounded by lovely hills and trees. The silhouette of trees in the moonlight is one combination I love. Ramu had an upset stomach after eating thirty-seven pakoras the day before. So I was going alone but I did not feel lonely. The moon was travelling with me. I could see it moving across the branches as I walked. The gentle laughter of a lady suddenly pierced the charming silence of the night air.

A girl in bright red appeared suddenly, ‘Why do you keep looking up to your left while you walk?

I was looking at the moon,’ I answered, rather embarrassed at having my romance with the moon noticed.

The girl asked, You are going to the party, right?”

“How do you know?

“It is a small place. People know each other. I will give you company.”

“So kind of you.

So we talked, laughed and joked for the next twenty minutes. 1 noticed her carefully. Red blouse, red and white skirt, light make up, bright red shoes. A small red bag. The lipstick was a bit too bright. She had amazing grace in the way she walked. Her lively but gentle laughter had the freshness of a mountain spring. We were discussing hobbies. She said she liked collecting old photographs. Why old?’ I asked.

She looked at me queerly and answered, ‘Old photographs have lots of hidden and forgotten stories.

“All right, I said.

Barry Uncle’s house was decorated beautifully. Music and lights welcomed us. Suddenly, the girl stopped smiling. She turned around. ‘What is wrong?’ I asked her.

I prefer the moonlight. I will not go in,’ she said and started walking away.

At least take this jacket,’ I offered her. She was my height and I knew about chivalry. She gave me a mysterious smile, wore the jacket, and walked into the darkness.

In the party, I grooved to the music for some time. I needed to have a wash. While moving towards the washroom, I suddenly came across a photograph of Barry Uncle with the stranger I had just met. “That’s my niece, Mary. She died two years ago in a tragic accident,’ Barry Uncle said, with a note of sadness in his voice. She is buried in the graveyard behind St Michael’s Church,’ he added.

This is indeed an experience that I would not dare to forget……………….

The book is written by Jiddu Krishnamurti at the basics of daily routine. The book is based on the observations and experiences of the author. The book is about finding the truth of life through living. This book presents the 365 days of the year. The writer was meditating and trying to find the truth of life. His experiences are interconnected with others. He started writing from January to December.

The story of man of mankind is in you, the vast experiences, the deep-rooted fears, anxieties, sorrow, pleasure and all the beliefs that man has accommodated throughout the millennia.

The book is about the listening process, learning, authority and self-knowledge. The author said, ask yourself why do we follow a leader or authority and later on we criticize them and insist on carving ourselves. Self-awareness is a process of knowing one self. It is not about isolation or withdrawal from the relationships mentioned by the author. He said self-knowledge can help to bring change in society.

The author described the sense of becoming, beliefs, action and good and evil. The author said everyone wants to become something. Becoming something is a will. A will is led by self-projections and a conflict is about struggling to reach our wills. All wills and conflicts are becoming integrated. The author mentioned the love and self, role and hinders of beliefs. He focused on the observations, action and ideas. He said goodness has no motive whereas evil things can’t be justified at any cost.

Dependence, attachment, relationship and fear are in sync. We all depend on something, be it beliefs, religion or a person. The dependence leads to attachment. The attachment develops the relationship when the relationship starts having conflicts and a fear of detachment. The root of fear, anger and loneliness is you and I. we have to learn the tricks to deal with our fear.

The author discussed intimacy, love, lust, marriage and profession. Here also he asked the individual to leave the ego and accept the reality of life. He also discussed the intelligences, thoughts, knowledge, brain, transformation. He said aloneness is not loneliness. Mediation is the way by which we can achieve that peace and truth of life.

To choose this book for the review is my first option because the book is related to the life experiences of the author. The book consists of all aspects of life. The author discussed every topic briefly with causes and results. The book has a religious aspect of life. It is a daily life experience. How meditation helps a person to attain inner peace, the importance of self-knowledge, self- reliance and the truth of life- all the things are core essence of this book.

But I feel the book is in accidental order. The author is just assuming the things. The topic discussed by the author in this book is very common. I think he could work on some other topics too.

Conclusion:

We are just busy in our lives. We all are lost in the darkness of sorrow, greed, anger and love. We stopped to think about the truth of life. We are just focusing on the material world. We all are ignoring our truth of life. We just have to spend our life handling some emotions like sorrow, anger and ego. The cause of the problem is only the sense of supremacy. We are just working for I and degrading you. We are not happy with what we have. We are not satisfied with what we achieved. We all are having an unnecessary race. The book gives us idea how we can deal with ourselves. Knowing yourselves, listening, hearing and what is the true knowledge we are not even don’t care about all of these things. The book focuses on this value. The attainment of true knowledge is only possible through mediation. The mediation helps to awaken your inner desire of knowing truth, learning about the real meaning of peace and maintaining the meaning of self-knowledge. The book supports love not lust. The difference between love and desire, willing and integration, loneliness and loneliness are clearly mentioned in the book. Aloneness is the essence of achieving the truth whereas loneliness is about withdrawal of your feelings. Relationship is the mirror- the lines really give a different idea about the relationship. Here the meaning of relationship is considered as knowing yourself from another point of view. I learnt the value of self-knowledge and I felt that self- knowledge is the only key to unlocking life. Controlling and managing your emotions is really important because it reflects your knowledge which could be only possible by mediation.

Future of Electric Automobiles

We are now in the biggest automobile revolution since the 1913 motor revolution led by Henry Ford. Electric cars are going to take over much sooner than we think. Many industry observers believe we have already passed the tipping point where sales of electric vehicles (EVs) will very rapidly overwhelm petrol and diesel cars. Companies like Jaguar, Volvo and Lotus have already said that they plan to go fully electric by 2030. General Motors says it will make only electric vehicles by 2035, Ford says all vehicles sold in Europe will be electric by 2030 and VolksWagen says 70% of its sales will be electric by 2030. But what makes the end of the petrol and diesel engines inevitable is a technological revolution. And technological revolutions tend to happen very quickly.

Global sales of electric cars raced forward in 2020, rising by 43% to a total of 3.2m, despite overall car sales slumping by 20% during the coronavirus pandemic. By 2025 20% of all new cars sold globally will be electric, according to the latest forecast by the investment bank UBS. That will leap to 40% by 2030, and by 2040 virtually every new car sold globally will be electric.

Companies like Tesla have already proved that there is a huge market for electric vehicles. In 2020, they sold almost 500,000 units in the US alone. The Company’s segments include automotive, and energy generation and storage. The energy generation and storage segment include the design, manufacture, installation, sales and leasing of solar energy systems and energy storage products, services related to its products, and sales of solar energy system incentives. The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk beleives that as soon as electric vehicles become cost-competitive with fossil fuel vehicles, the game will be up. He also said that they’ve seen a real shift in customer perception of electric vehicles, and their demand is the best they’ve ever seen. But, they beleive that there is still work to be done before EVs can completely outclass petrol and diesel engines. Some of the problems are the availability and accessibility to charging stations and of course, the actual affordability of the vehicles themselves. If these problems are worked on and solved in the next few years, we can surely say that electric automobiles will take over in no time as they are much better for the environment and we need them now more than ever.

The Threat Of Mucormycosis Amid Covid-19

Mucormycosis Explained

It is a rare but dangerous fungal infection that has a mortality rate of 50%, caused by the fungus micromycetes commonly found as mould in the soil, decay and manure. It is also found in the mucus and nose of healthy people.

Affects people with diabetes, HIV/AIDS, cancer and much more. It affects the people who have a lower immune system or take medicines that affect the body’s ability to fight germs and sicknesses.

The initial effect is seen in the nose from where it spreads to the brain and can be treated by major surgery either by removing the eye or part of the skull or the jaw.

Symptoms to keep in check for the fungus

  • Swelling and pain in the eye;
  • Drooping eyelids;
  • Sinusitis – stuffy and bleeding nose;
  • Blackish discolouration over the bridge of the nose;
  • Chest pain, bloody vomits, coughing, headache;

Treatment

A drug that is effective against the disease is an anti-fungal intravenous injection which costs around Rs.3500 per dose and has to administer every day for up to 8 weeks.

In some cases, the only way to prevent the disease from spreading is by surgery. Where eventually it leads to loss of the upper jaw or at times even an eye.

Prevention is better than Cure

  • Use of masks when visiting construction sites.
  • Wear shoes, long trousers, long-sleeved shirts and gloves while gardening.
  • Maintain personal hygiene.
  • Control diabetes, monitor sugar levels after Covid-19 treatments.
  • Reduce the use of steroids.
  • Hydrate adequately.
  • Discontinue immunomodulating drugs.

Black Fungus linked to Covid-19 in India

More than 7,200 people have been reported with the fungus and around 291 have lost their lives. The risk of mucormycosis in Covid-19 patients is due to the overuse of steroids in the treatment of coronavirus which can compromise the immune system if taken for long periods.

Another way of contracting the fungus by covid-19 patients was when people in ventilators had their airways exposed to humidity and moisture.

Five states, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Odisha, Rajasthan and Telangana have declared the fungus as an epidemic.

Post Mucormycosis Surgery

Patients who have been operated on the jaw would have to come to terms with the loss of function – difficulty chewing, swallowing, self-esteem. But not to lose hope, whether it is the jaw or the eye, prosthetic replacement is possible by using artificial substitutes. This can be done once the patient stabilizes after surgery.

Dr B Srinivasan, a maxillofacial prosthodontist quoted that: “Prosthetic reconstruction can be effected after surgery, but interim solutions should be planned even before surgery of the jaws for better long-term outcomes. Prosthetic reconstruction can ensure that the cure is not more dreadful than the disease itself.

E-COMMERCE IN PANDEMIC WORLD

Covid-19 worldwide pandemic was one of the 2020’s defining events and it still is. It has changed everything even the e-commerce world. The internet and e-commerce industries have grown amid the COVID-19 issue and experienced extraordinary and unexpected development.

Many restaurants, pubs, movie theatres, and gyms are closing in major cities. Meanwhile, many office workers are encountering new problems as they transition to full-time remote employment. However, People are adjusting to the reality of our interconnected society and the difficulty of briefly separating oneself from others. It would be an understatement to suggest that we are living in extraordinary times. In these times, lockdowns became the latest trend therefore, companies and customers progressively “went digital,” and started delivering and purchasing more products and services over the internet which in turn boosted e-share commerce’s of global retail trade from 14% in 2019 to almost 17% in 2020 as per the statistics. The epidemic has sped up the transition from physical to digital purchasing by around five years.

Customers are avoiding public locations, and non-essential enterprises are being forced to close in these trying times due to covid-19 situation where cities are going under lockdowns. Shopping for only the bare necessities is becoming the new normal. So, To satisfy shifting requirements, brands are adapting and becoming adaptable by consumers.

Millions of individuals turned to e-commerce platforms this year, not only in metropolitan area  but also in tier III and beyond, due to the need for social distance and prioritizing safety during the epidemic, according to companies like Amazon and Flipkart as well as industry analysts. It is expected that the coronavirus pandemic influence will increase e-commerce business by 84% to $111 billion by 2024. Mobile shopping will fuel India’s e-commerce sector, which is expected to increase at a rate of 21% annually over the next four years. The most common payment methods online in 2020 were digital wallets, credit cards, and debit cards. As well all know that Physical retail has merged with the digital world and e commerce capacity is no longer restricted to traditional websites. Consumers are becoming habitual with this e-commerce world and  want the same hassle-free and convenient shopping experience whether they purchase via an app, through their social feeds, or in person in near future.

However, despite several governments’ attempts during the COVID-19 crisis to promote e-commerce, persisting digital inequalities mean that not everyone has been able to participate. Furthermore, in the event of growing universal sales models or novel modes of delivery, rules that are not suited to e-commerce might create hurdles for businesses. While many of these issues existed before to COVID-19, the present crisis, as well as the growing role of e-commerce for consumers and businesses, has increased the need for governmental intervention.

Systemic issues in connection, financial inclusion, skills, and trust (for instance- digital security, privacy, and consumer protection) have been brought to the forefront for consumers. To solve this issue, governments may provide rural and underdeveloped areas with inexpensive and high-quality internet, improve financial inclusion, and encourage trust and the development of skills needed to participate in e-commerce.

Governments must also maintain fair system in the context of online platforms. It’s also critical to provide enough competition in the retail sector and a well-functioning enabling environment for e-commerce, which includes communication services, logistics, and trade.
