Email marketing

Email marketing is the act of sending a commercial message, typically to a group of people, using email. In its broadest sense, every email sent to a potential or current customer could be considered email marketing. It involves using email to send advertisements, request business, or solicit sales or donations.

Benefits of email marketing: spread sheet use, customization draft, option of subscribe and unsubscribe, track links, provide list categories, personification feature, save time. Businesses and organizations who send a high volume of emails can use an ESP (email service provider) to gather information about the behavior of the recipients. The insights provided by consumer response to email marketing help businesses and organizations understand and make use of consumer behavior. Words that can help in increasing the chance of opening an email by your customer- free, discount, specials, reminder, customer name; link with such words can help.

A/B testing- test many things via email. It is a method of comparing two versions of a web page or app against each other to determine which one performs better. AB testing is essentially an experiment where two or more variants of a page are shown to users at random, and statistical analysis is used to determine which variation performs better for a given conversion goal.

Email analytics tools can help to manage the business via email and lessen the burden for checking and keeping track thousands of emails. Many email analytics platforms are geared toward email marketers, who have a more pressing need and a bigger budget, rather than office workers trying to improve their own productivity – or office managers trying to improve the productivity of their team members. The majority of apps focusing on improving productivity add some functionality that makes workers faster or more efficient, rather than getting to the heart of the problem with objective data analysis. Some tools which can help- sortd, email analytics powered by google, ActiveInbox, The Email Game, Todoist, and many more.

Indian art during Maurya period

The Mauryan contribution to art and architecture was significant. Ashoka is known to
have built 84,000 stupas to commemorate various events of Buddha’s life. According to
Megasthenes, Pataliputra’s grandeur matched that of the cities of Persia.
Ashokan edicts were inscribed on stone pillars that were made of single columns of polished
sandstone and had capitals on their top. The best preserved of all Ashokan edicts stands
at Lauriya Nandangarh (Bihar). This thirty-two feet tall column has an almost fifty ton
seated lion capital placed on its top, an engineering feat worth admiring. The bull capital
from Rampura is also another fine example of Mauryan sculpture. The most famous capital
is the one at Sarnath, which shows four lions and the Dharmachakra. You must be familiar
with this as this has been adopted as the national emblem of the Republic of India.
Besides pillars, few Mauryan figures have also come to light. The most well known of
these is the Yakshi from Didarganj. The beauty of these figures lies in the exactness of their
workmanship and in the fact that they. appear to be made from one single stone. Like the
pillars, these figures are polished with a unique surface gloss (now called Mauryan polish).
You will be amazed to know that despite all these centuries this gloss has not lost its shine.
Besides the language that has been used in nearly all the inscriptions and Prakrit which
appears to have become the lingua franca of the country and in the Brahmi script the
earliest known Indian script.

Another noteworthy aspect of Mauryan architecture is the rock cut caves. The Lomash
Rishi (with its impressive entrance) and the Sudama caves are examples of such architecture.
These caves cut from solid rock were provided by Ashoka for non-Buddhist monks.
These caves marked the beginning of the rock cut architecture which was patronised by
later rulers too. His rock edicts were inscribed in the local language and the local script

Ambedkar and Buddhism

In his article entitled “What Way Emancipation” Ambedkar declared that “I solemnly assure you that I will not die a Hindu”, at Yeola, District of Nasik, Maharastra, on 13th October 1935 in front of ten thousand people, where
he went for a depressed class conference. Ambedkar as the president of the conference reminded his audience of their failure to secure elementary rights or equal status in Hindu society through any of the movements. According to him, the concept of sympathy is absent in the Hindu religion. The Hindus have no sense of brotherhood among themselves. The Untouchables are treated worse than foreigners. The Caste Hindus have no sympathy towards the untouchables. They are not brother to each other. They are two opposite castes. Society is based on class or varna, the association of an individual to a group is considered paramount. Even the family is not treated as a unit of society. According to Hindus, though all men are created by God, they are not created equal. They believe that God created different classes of men from different parts of his divine body. There is a section in “Purusha Sukta” of the Rig Veda which says that the Brahaman varna was born from the mouth of God, Kshatriya varna from his arms, the Vaishya from his thighs, and the Shudra from his feet. This they classify as Hindu social order but the views of Ambedkar on free social order
contradict the above sayings. He believed that an individual is an end in himself and the objective of the society is to support the growth of the individual, to develop his personality. The relationship between members of society is based on the principles of liberty, equality, and fraternity. According to him, Hindu social order is based on the principles of graded inequality, fixed occupations for each class, and its continuance by heredity, the fixation of people within their respective classes. According to him, the Varna-vyavastha had developed into a social order of exploitation and oppression. Society must be based on reason, and not on atrocious traditions of the caste system. He found education, inter-caste marriage, and inter-dine as methods that may eliminate caste and patriarchy.

On 14th October 1956, Dr. Ambedkar renounced Hinduism and embraced Buddhism. On 15th October 1956, he delivered his speech in Marathi relating to embraced Buddhism. He said there are so many problems after conversion to Buddhism. He hoped that he will get political rights. According to Dr. Ambedkar, religion is for man and not man for religion and that is why he choose to convert himself to a buddisht as this religion respect and gives a scope of development to people and their thoughts.

Economic survey 2020-21

Bare Necessities:

Access to “the bare necessities” such as housing, water, sanitation, electricity and clean cooking fuel are a
sine qua non to live a decent life.
This chapter examines the progress made in providing access to “the bare necessities” by constructing a
Bare Necessities Index (BNI) at the rural, urban and all India level. BNI summarises 26 indicators on five
dimensions viz, Water, Sanitation, Housing, Micro-environment, Other facilities.

Key findings related to bare necessities: Access to the ‘bare necessities’ has improved across all States in the country in 2018 as compared to 2012. It is highest in States such as Kerala, Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat while lowest in Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Tripura Inter-State disparities declined across rural and urban areas.
Improved access to the ‘bare necessities’ has led to improvements in health indicators such as IMR and
also correlates with future improvements in education indicators. Schemes such as Jal Jeevan Mission, SBM-G, PMAY-G, etc. may design appropriate strategy to reduce the gaps.

  • GDP growth is a critical variable for decision-making by investors as well as policymakers. Therefore, the recent debate about whether India’s GDP is correctly estimated following the revision in estimation methodology in 2011 is extremely significant.
  • The survey highlighted the need to invest in ramping up India’s statistical infrastructure is undoubted. It also said that India has made impressive improvements in several social development indicators.

ROLE OF MINDSET IN WEIGHT LOSS

Are you stressed out seeing the increasing digits of your weight machine
when you stand on it? Or have you tried giving up dieting just by saying
yourself that it is not your cup of it?
Have you ever wondered how your thoughts could shape your body?
Yes, you heard right not only the food you take or the exercise you do
define your body shaping but also how you think about yourself matters.
Even once I was surprised to see a change in the weight of one of my
relatives, and as I asked her about the tricks she used, she told me it
was a magic of meditation.
Thinking optimistic about reducing your body weight as well as working
with full positivity would makes work easier for you. Lebron James once
quoted that “I LIKE CRITICISM, IT MAKES ME STRONGER” similarly
taking up wicked comments with a noble attitude helps you to change
your lifestyle healthily directly affecting your body.

Many boys also face body shamming in every sphere of life, so this thing
is not sticked to one section of society which makes it even more
important to fight it using 3 essential components; YOU, YOUR MIND,
AND YOUR BODY.
So stop feeling sad about yourself, your weight instead feels strong, and
keep an affirmative outlook in shaping yourself and hence your
personality.

All the Gods tried to console him but in vain. Ultimately Shiva-Parvati themselves travelled to the mountain but were turned away by Kartikeya. Seeing their son in such a state they were very hurt and Shiva assumed the form of a Jyotirlinga and resided on the mountain by the name of Mallikarujna. Mallika means Parvati, while Arjuna is another name of Shiva. It is also known as “Kailash of the South” and is one of the greatest Shaivite shrines in India.

8. Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga, Aurangabad: According to the Shiva Purana, a couple named Sudharm and Sudeha resided on the Devagiri Mountain. They were childless, and thus Sudeha got her sister Ghushma married to Sudharm. They bore a son who rendered Ghushma proud and Sudeha jealous of her sister. In her jealousy, Sudeha threw the son in the lake where Ghushma used to discharge 101 lingams. Ghushma prayed to Lord Shiva who ultimately returned her the son and told her of her sister’s deeds. Sudharm asked Shiva to emancipate Sudeha which left Shiva pleased with his generosity. On Sudharm’s request, Shiva manifested himself in the form of the Jyotirlinga and assumed the name Ghushmeshwar.

9.  Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga, Nasik: According to the Shiva Purana, it is on the earnest request of River Godavari, Gautam Rishi and all the other Gods that Shiva decided to reside here and assumed the name Trimbakeshwar. Gautam Rishi earned a boon from Varuna in the form of a pit from which he received an inexhaustible supply of grains and food. The other Gods were rendered jealous by him and they send a cow to enter the granary. The cow was mistakenly killed by Gautam Rishi who then asked Lord Shiva to do something to purify the premises. Shiva asked Ganga to flow through the land to make it pure. Everyone thus sang praise for the Lord who then resided beside Ganga in the form of Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga. Hindus believe that this Jyotirlinga in Maharashtra is the one which fulfils everyone’s desires.

10. Rameshwar Jyotirlinga, Tamil Nadu:  It is believed that Ram on his way to Sri Lanka stopped at Rameshwaram and was drinking water on the seashore when there was a celestial proclamation: “You are drinking water without worshipping me.” Listening to this Ram made a linga of sand and worshipped it and asked for its blessings to defeat Ravana. He got the blessings from Lord Shiva who then turned into a Jyotirlinga and resided at the place for eternity.

11. Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga, Maharashtra: The legend about the existence of this Jyotirlinga is related to Kumbhakarna’s son Bhima. When Bhima learned that he was the son of Kumbhakarana who was annihilated by Lord Vishnu in his incarnation as Lord Ram, he vowed to avenge Lord Vishnu. He performed penance to please Lord Brahma who granted him immense power. On achieving this power, he started creating havoc in the world. He defeated the staunch devotee of Lord Shiva- Kamrupeshwar and put him in the dungeons. This angered the Lords who requested Shiva to descend Earth and put an end to this tyranny. A war ensued between the two and Shiva ultimately put the demon to ashes. All the Gods then requested Shiva to make that place his abode. Shiva then manifested himself in the form of Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga. It is believed that the sweat which poured from Shiva’s body after the battle is what formed the Bhima River.

12.  Baidyanath Jyotirlinga, Jharkhand:  According to a famous legend, the demon king Ravana meditated and asked Lord Shiva to come over to Sri Lanka and make it invincible. Ravana tried to take Mount Kailash with him, but Lord Shiva crushed it. Ravana asked for penance and in turn, was given of the twelve Jyotirlingas on the condition that if it was placed on the ground it would remain rooted to that spot till eternity. While transporting it to Sri Lanka, Lord Varuna entered Ravana’s body and he felt an urgent need to relieve himself. Lord Vishnu came down in the form of a lad and offered to hold the lingam in the meantime. However, Vishnu placed the lingam on the ground and it got rooted to the spot. As a form of penance, Ravana cut off nine of his heads. Shiva revived him and joined the heads to the body, like a vaidya and hence this Jyotirlinga came to be known as Vaidyanath.

LAKSHADWEEP ISSUE

India’s smallest Union Territory, Lakshadweep is an archipelago consisting of 36 islands with an area of 32 sq km. It is directly under the control of the Centre through an administrator.

The Capital is Kavaratti and it is also the principal town of the UT. Pitti island, which is uninhabited, has a bird sanctuary.

ITS SOCIETY-

The society in all islands is matriarchal. The religion is Islam of the pristine Shafi school of law. When Islam came to the islands is debated. Fishery is the main occupation here. It is ruled by a lieutenant governor, Praful Khoda Patel.

THE ISSUE- GOONDA ACT:

The people of Lakshadweep have also opposed the administrator of trying to interfere in the traditional life by introducing a ban on buying or selling beef products, The Goonda Act being introduced in the island that has negligible crime rate and revoking of restrictions on alcohol for benefit of tourism also have attracted criticism from the islanders, Other initiatives by the administrator include panchayat rules designed to restrict the population growth in a territory where, according to the National Health and Family Survey-5 (2019-20), the total fertility rate is 1.4 (which is far behind the national average of 2.2) and relaxing prohibition, extant in the Union Territory because of public demand, Deliberations of the IDA wanted that Lakshadweep, with its land ownership constitutionally protected, be opened to international tourism not as a means of generating wealth for investors from the mainland but to bring prosperity to the islanders.

THE DECISION-

A clear policy must include conservation and natural resource management arrived at after wide consultation, eminently possible within the existing infrastructure of the Union Territory, and also taking into account climatic compulsions.

Maldives is hardly a suitable model. Water bungalows — an expensive concept and also hazardous to the coral favored by the NITI Aayog, would collapse in Lakshadweep’s monsoon.

The Government should recognize the need to develop policies for enhancing employment opportunities, environment-friendly management of fisheries, sanitation, waste disposal and widening access to drinking water, with the youth, having acquired a modern education, preferring salaried jobs over pursuing traditional occupations.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

Is giving girls the right to education enough to define women’s empowerment? Or giving reserved seats in parliament sufficient to help them raise their voice for the country?

Women empowerment is defined as a process of enabling every woman in the country to live a quality standard of life by improving the conditions for education, awareness, literacy, and training. But this definition lacks the real-world problem that we as girls face every day like, going alone outside at night and wearing short dresses is still considered unethical for girls. It is believed in some parts of the country that doing the job is the second essential thing for women to hold positions and learn cooking and household errands still stand first. Even after reaching on top positions of the world, it is considered a duty of women to take care of their household and family more than the men of the family. So the empowerment we talk about is just partial and it will require a great deal to change the mindset of more than half the population to the country.

Economically independence is one thing, which many girls fight to attain, marriage is still considered the best alternative after a woman fails in perfectly setting up her career. We see many male candidates raising their voice for feminism but the real question is whether they know what real feminism stands for or it just became a trend to follow?

Barriers in this process are explained by a condition where women are put in a position where they need to make the decision of whether to maintain in the workforce or have children, which has led to the debate over maternity leave in many other countries in the world. A desk job is preferred over a physical one arguing that women lack the physical structure to do heavy tasks. Even today girls dreaming of a technical career like engineering are made to think twice. Being a pilot for going in a field that is male dominant is the most difficult and challenging job for women. Everyone says that girls should dream big but that big requires big sacrifices in terms of almost everything.

Way ahead-

women empowerment indeed is an ongoing process and sometimes it lacks its significance but it is also true that it had made the political position of women much better than in ancient times not only it had helped women to attain knowledge of their rights but also have given many opportunities in the educational sector to prove their abilities. The process had given courage to many women to come forward and broke the stereotype thinking. This had made them come up with their problems as well as effective solutions. History had witnessed the strength and power of women, what all needed is to give them a platform in an unbiased way and let them show their qualities in their creative way.

A long associated myth with this temple temple is that the shadow of the main structure does not fall on the ground. However, this has been proven wrong by scientists. Brihadeeswarar temple, also known as the Tanjore big temple expounds the number of alphabets in Tamil by the distance and height it is designed. The statue of Nandi at the entrance of the temple is carved out of a single stone.

The lingam is often represented as resting on disc shaped platform called a linga on a peetham. An elliptical figure placed atop a circular base called ‘peedam’ also called as “Peetham”.
