Is Arnab Goswami Worse Than A Dreaded Criminal?

“The police forcibly shut off news cameras before barging into the residence of Mr Goswami and attacking and thrashing a reputed national TV news journalist. The police even went to levels of misbehaving with Mr Goswami’s elderly parents, in-laws and assaulting his son.”

–        Complaint filed with NHRC

Is Arnab Goswami some dreaded criminal or a terrorist or even worse than them? Why did 70 police personnel armed with weapons went to his house? Is his son who is just a 20 years old young boy also a dreaded criminal or has he got links with Dawood Ibrahim that police beat him up badly as Arnab alleges? How on earth can police beat up his son or even Arnab himself or misbehave with his wife, his in-laws and parents?

Nothing on this planet can be as shameful as with what has happened so brutally, so badly, so brashly and so brazenly with Arnab Goswami! Why has Mumbai police treated such a senior and eminent journalist with an impeccable reputation who is none other than the Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV – Arnab Goswami like a dreaded criminal? Is this the way to treat such a senior and eminent journalist with an impeccable reputation who is none other than the Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV – Arnab Goswami like a dreaded criminal? If he has done some crime then also he has to be arrested in a humane manner and the police has no right to physically assault him or his family members!

Will it enhance India’s international image as a tolerant country in the world and give a boost to our reputation or will it tarnish our reputation all over? Will this boost the morale of Indian journalists to be fearless like Arnab or will it sag their spirits and demoralize them to a large extent? Why was Arnab roughed up by Mumbai police so horribly? Can it ever be justified under any circumstances?

Why was arrest warrant not issued in proper manner? Why police showed undue haste in arresting him?  Why police did not even allow him to even wear his shoes properly? Is he a hard core dacoit or a robber or a terrorist or even worse than them? Could the arrest not have been made in a much more civilized manner after following all norms and procedure that are followed in effecting an arrest?

Why has Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission summoned the SP of Raigadh in Maharashtra on November 6 at 11:00 am in their office? It is because they have a lot of explaining to do on this horrible and unprofessional conduct of Mumbai police? Why should every human being no matter to which nation he/she belongs hang his/her head in shame to see what all happened with Arnab live on news channels?

No doubt, Republic TV of which Arnab Goswami is Editor-in-Chief has a valid point when it says that, “Republic Media Network stands strongly against Maharashtra government and Mumbai police’s transparent abuse of power, butchery of rule of law, murderous assault on the free press of a democratic India.” The horrifying manner in which Arnab was dragged, caught by his belt that he was wearing, even his hairs on head were not spared and worst of all even his young 20 year old son was not spared and so too were others not spared is most reprehensible and is an unforgivable offence!

It is a consolation to some extent that a majority of Union Ministers in Centre have spoken out strongly, swiftly and suavely in favour of Arnab and have condemned the brutal manner in which he was roughed up for which they must be commended! Hats off to Kirit Somaiya who did not fear Mumbai police and had the guts, gall and gumption to face them boldly while Arnab was being taken away even though he too was manhandled by the Mumbai police! He very commendably, correctly and courageously said that, “I am deeply saddened to see how a journalist was picked up and forcibly taken by the police. The women of his house, who are shooting a video inside their own house, how does the police have the right to stop them? I came to Alibag to see what was happening to Arnab Goswami, and when I was watching him from afar, but the police came and picked me up as well. The way Journalists are being jailed in Maharashtra, social media activists are being jailed. This indicates an emergency situation by Congress and Thackeray government.”

Even Union Law Minister and senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad himself described the arrest of Arnab as “seriously reprehensible, unwarranted and worrisome”. He minced no words in saying it bluntly that, “The arrest of senior journalist Arnab Goswami is seriously reprehensible, unwarranted and worrisome. We had fought for freedoms of Press as well while opposing the draconian Emergency of 1975”. He also said that, “While Congress leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi have attacked the Modi government “through motivated charges of attack on institutions” yet they are completely silent when their own government in Maharashtra is “blatantly suppressing freedom of Press”. It is a “textbook case of hypocrisy”. One can differ, one can debate and one can ask questions too. However arresting a journalist of the stature of Arnab Goswami by abuse of police power is something which we all need to condemn.”

To be sure, Amit Shah who is Union Home Minister minced no words to state upstraight that, “Congress and its allies have shamed democracy once again. Blatant misuse of state power against Republic TV and Arnab Goswami is an attack on individual freedom and the 4th pillar of democracy. It reminds us of the Emergency. This attack on free must be and WILL BE OPPOSED.” Another Union Minister Smriti Irani went to the extent of saying that, “If those in free press don’t stand up in support of him then they are tactically in support of fascism. You may not like him, you may not approve of him, you may despise his very existence but if you stay silent you support suppression. Who speaks if you are next?”

Going one step ahead, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh too jumped in the fray and minced no words to state upfront that, “The treatment of senior journalist Arnab Goswami is a symbol of the totalitarian tendency to weaken the fourth pillar of democracy and suppress the tone of protest. The Congress should keep in mind the instances, including the Emergency, which show that the governments which oppress the press, suffer badly.”

While stating that an attack on the fourth estate without evidence shakes faith in good governance, a Delhi-based lawyer named Siddharth Nayak who is Managing Partner of Atharva Legal LLP has filed the complaint seeking to initiate action against the Mumbai Police and the Raigad Police. Advocate Siddharth Nayak states that Goswami was forcibly dragged by his hair into the police van before being arrested by Raigad police in Maharashtra. Even if police has to arrest someone who is as eminent as Arnab or even an ordinary person, it has to be done in a civilized and proper manner. What Mumbai police has done is most atrocious and must be strongly condemned!

Be it noted, the complaint by Advocate Siddharth alleges that the police should be held responsible for the “blatant and brazenly illegitimate action of arresting Goswami under Section 306 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code 1860 with regard to a suicide case registered and closed in 2018”. On May 5, 2018 architect and interior designer Anvay Naik was found hanging at his farm house in Alibaug, Maharashtra and in his suicide note Naik who was MD of Concord Designs had blamed Arnab, Feroz Shaikh of icastX/Skimedia and Nitiesh Sarda of Smartworks for not paying dues amounting to Rs 5.4 crore. Naik said ARG Outlier had not paid Rs 83 lakh for the Bombay Dyeing studio project. National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has further been informed that no summons were served by the police before arresting Goswami and that he was also denied all legal or medical assistance “despite his injuries in the physical assault perpetrated by the Police”. How can such a brutal assault be ever justified by anyone on earth? Even a person accused of any offence is arrested in a civilized manner and no one is assaulted in the manner that Arnab has been assaulted!

While levelling allegations against the police officer leading the team that arrested Goswami, Advocate Siddharth Nayak states that Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Hindurao Waze is an “infamous ‘encounter specialist’ who holds the blighted disrepute of as many as 63 extra-judicial murders”. If this is really true, why is Waze still in police and not in jail? Why no action taken against Sachin Hindurao Waze himself?

Why when the Mumbai police had itself investigated and closed the suicide case lodged against Goswami back in 2018 and filed closure report in April 2019 and had stated in a court of law that no case was made out was he suddenly arrested so horribly and in utter violation of all rules and norms? Why was his son assaulted and beaten? Why were his parents, in-laws and other members of his family assaulted?

As no case was being made out against Arnab, the complainant – Advocate Siddharth states, as per news sources, the Maharashtra Police Director General “did not approve with the CID Chief on Mr Goswami’s arrest”. Therefore, it is alleged that Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Mumbai Commissioner of Police Param Bir Singh met over the issue and the Superintendent of Police, Raigad was directly given orders from the CM’s office for Goswami’s arrest. The complaint goes on to state that, “Attack on the Fourth Estate without any evidence or verifiable facts, on the basis of closed case being reopened with the sole aim to make an unwarranted illegitimate arrest of Goswami is extremely shocking to the point that it shakes India’s belief in good governance and policing.” No doubt, the manner in which such a senior journalist of the stature of Arnab Goswami has been arrested is most reprehensible and has to be condemned most strongly!

What a terrible atrocity it is that when police went to arrest Arnab Goswami, he was not even allowed to wear his shoes and was dragged out like a dangerous dacoit or  a terrorist or a professional killer or a dreaded gangster! This is just unbelievable! Even hard core criminals are not treated in the callous manner in which Arnab was treated for which there cannot be any justification on earth!

For the sake of argument, even if we accept that Arnab was guilty of some crime, then also to barge into his house with police numbering 70 to 80 carrying weapons and assault and beat not just him but also his son and other family members cannot be justified under any circumstances! The most horrible and disgraceful conduct of the Mumbai police is inexplicable and has certainly sullied its reputation in the eyes of the people!

It cannot be lightly dismissed that Arnab Goswami had highlighted the inept and questionable handling of Palghar sadhu lynching case of 2 sadhus by mob right in front of police and its dubious role in handling the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide/murder case in which former CM of Maharashtra – Narayan Rane and his son had raised questions directly on CM Uddhav Thackeray’s son – Aditya Thackeray! Why is it that this same Arnab was earlier attacked by goons just outside his house and in which he was rescued just in time? All this can be interpreted as a vicious move by ‘vested elements’ and ‘powerful coterie’ to deter him from speaking the blunt truth on these two key issues as also on several other issues also!

No one is saying that Arnab should not be prosecuted or punished for any offence which police alleges he has committed. But this does not confer an unfettered licence to Mumbai police to assault him, beat him, pull him by his belt and drag him by his hairs!  He has an international reputation and he is not some thug or mafia but most unfortunately police has behaved with him most ruthlessly which is most despicable and condemnable!

Worst of all, even his son and family were not spared! This is really atrocious and those who are guilty of doing so must be made to face the strictest punishment! The dastardly arrest of Arnab could have been made in a more civilized manner and if this had been done, the criticism of Mumbai police actions would have been more muted! But most shamefully, the Mumbai police was found acutely wanting on this score also!

87 Rape Cases A Day, Crimes Against Women.

India recorded an average 87 rape cases every day in 2019 and 4,05,861 cases of crimes against women during the year — a rise of over seven per cent from 2018 — shows latest data released by the National Crime Records Bureau.

The “Crimes in India -2019” report shows that crimes against women have gone up by 7.3 per cent last year. The crime rate registered per lakh women population is 62.4 per cent in 2019, up from the 58.8 per cent figure of 2018.

The country had recorded 3,78,236 cases of crimes against women in 2018, data shows.

In 2018, 33,356 rapes were recorded across the country, up from 32,559 in 2017, according to the data from corresponding years.

“Majority of these cases under the Indian Penal Code were registered under ‘cruelty by husband or his relatives’ (30.9 per cent) followed by ‘Assault on women with intent to outrage her modesty’ (21.8 per cent), ‘kidnapping and abduction of women’ (17.9 per cent),” the NCRB data for 2019 showed.

Not only women, the figures collated by NCRB also indicate an upward trend in cases linked to crimes against children. From 2018, the crimes against children have gone up by of 4.5 per cent in 2019.A total of 1.48 lakh cases of crime against children were registered in 2019, of which 46.6 per cent were cases of kidnapping and 35.3 per cent cases were related to sexual offences.

The NCRB, which functions under the Union Home Ministry, is tasked with collecting and analysing crime data from across the country. The agency has compiled the three-volume report after collating data from 36 states and UTs and 53 Metropolitan cities

In 2012, the case of young Delhi-based woman Jyoti Singh, christened Nirbhaya (Fearless) by the media, shook the nation. She was abducted by a group of men and repeatedly raped on a moving bus. They also mutilated her body before throwing her from the bus.

Hathras Case2020: The woman died at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital. She had suffered multiple fractures, paralysis and a deep gash in her tongue in the assault that drew parallels to the 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape. #JusticeforManishaValmiki

The Sentinel Island (Indian) which is left isolated and prohibited for visit

On the 2nd of August 1981, Primrose named one cargo ship which was travelling between Bangladesh and Australia had crashed on a coral reef in the Bay of Bengal. That ship was in the Andaman (group of islands) archipelago around an island termed as “North Sentinel Island”. Ship was in unmovable condition and ships crew was not able to use their lifeboats because the sea was having high tides and waves. So, they were forced to wait for some days at same area so that they or someone can contact them anyhow. After residing there for few days, one young sailor noticed few peoples approaching near their ship. On the contrary as history tells, they were not coming to help them in any manner. Additionally, they were carrying weapons like spears, bows and arrows. Those peoples were “The Sentinelese” the public of that secret island.

Then the captain of the ship sent out an emergency message quoting “Wild men, estimate more than 50, carrying various homemade weapons are making two or three wooden boats,”. “worrying they will board us at sunset. All crew member’s lives not guaranteed”.  They somehow survived as they were inside the ship and unknown in quantity to peoples of Sentinelese.

A week later, the Indian Navy sent a helicopter to rescue the crew of ship. Surprisingly, this ship named Primrose is still lying at coast and can be found near the North Sentinel Island. And here starts the story and facts behind this island prohibited to visit.

This was an unintentional yet accidental interaction with the Sentinelese. Few more such contacts between those peoples and new age humans had happened until now. Earlier few was peaceful as to understand and grow. However, it has turned in not so peaceful meet and greet in coming of ages.

In November 2018, John Allen chau, an American missionary landed in Port Blair and desired to visit the North Sentinel Island and travel and search around there to know more. But he was dedicated to mission of introducing Christianity to the Peoples of Sentinel Islands. It was a fully planned trip and he had written and learned all the details carefully in his diary.

With the help of some local fisherman, he reached the North Sentinel Island with few gifts like scissors and fishhooks. In the first attempts, the Sentinelese reacted very aggressively, and he had to return back somehow saving himself. He left the island In a hurry and ran like a sprint. Also, at the second attempt, peoples of sentinel island were not in the mood of meeting and reacted violently to the john. Sadly, in the third attempt, John Allen Chau was killed by those peoples. And all the chances and attempts were shattered and also costed a life of human.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands as a whole region in sea includes more than 300+ small and medium size islands. North, Middle & south Andaman are together called Great Andaman. These are also known as main island of Andaman. This place is crowded with most of the indigenous (native) peoples count. The original inhabitants (citizens) of the Andaman island were called “Andamanese”, who were supposedly first among the groups of peoples migrating outside from Africa Continent.

A research paper on claims that usually, the Andamanese were Hunter-gathers. They are the pre-evolution categories of human’s who does not depend no Agriculture. Instead, they rely on the Fruits, Fish, Honey & turtle eggs. The first ever known and recorded contact with these peoples was back in 1771. When John Ritchie was sent by Britishers to survey and collect info regarding these Islands. There were as many as 5 groups with around 9+ tribes in 1800’s, which has reduced to much extent as one or two are known to be in fruiting state. Rest are extinct or mixed with these tribes.

The Sentinelese is an isolated tribe of Andaman who are completely isolated and separated from Andamanese and rest of world. The Sentinelese is one of the last tribes in the world which has had very low interaction with the modern Humans and Civilization. The exact figure is impossible to predict but as guesses goes, they would be around 100 to 600 in head counts. We have very little info about them that to from the few interactions we had.

The mention of this specific island was in 1771, when a vessel of the East India Company passed this island and they had noticed few light and sound around the island. All the interactions with these specific tribe we had, one thing we are sure is that they are not very fond of us and they don’t even want to interact with us. Somewhat like they want to be in their place yet undiscoverable to all of us

In 1867, an Indian merchant ship containing 100 passengers and crew were attacked by some peoples. This happened on the 3rd day after they met an accident near the island. These peoples were naked, had short hair, had red painted noses & were making strange sounds. Peoples were saved from there with the help of British India’s Royal Navy.

After this incident, the island remains untouched and not disturbed for almost another 80 years. However, this changed as a film crew wanted to shoot a documentary about the indigenous population of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. They were using tactics of presenting the gifts like food items, fish and pigs. The crew would drop these gifts at the entrance of these islands and then they would move back & observe if the local peoples invite them. This technique worked with the ONGE & JARAWA tribes.

But the same technique did not work out for Sentinelese peoples. It was believed that they follow isolation and one crew member was injured with the bows attacked by Sentinelese. The arrow was 2.5 metre in approx. However, it is still unknown that why Sentinelese are so aggressive and isolation followers against modern humans.

But there is one theory that claims and blames one person for all these bad interactions and perception about us. The person is reportedly MAURICE VIDAL PORTMAN. Portman was a British officer-in-charge of the Andaman Islands. He was sexually obsessed and attracted towards the Andamanese locals, including the “Sentinelese”. It is said that once he had kidnapped a Sentinelese couple and 4 children, in order to study them. But the couple died because they might not have genetic immunity against some diseases. Portman mentions these details in his own publication “A History of Our Relations with The Andamanese”.

All these interactions might have urged them to not meet and greet the modern human civilization for more than 100+ years. After 1974, Indian Government made many attempts to establish communication with the Sentinelese. Two Anthropologist played a key role in this, TN Pandit & Madhumala Chattopadhyay. Since 1981, TN pandit went towards the North Sentinel Islands several times, carrying gifts. But for almost 10 years he was unable to contact or visualize any presence. Things changed in 1991, when an Indian Govt. expedition project crew spent nearly 30 minutes with the Sentinelese.

A few week later, TN Pandit who missed the first trip went back to the North Sentinel Island again. But this time luck favoured, and he was successful this time and it gave us the first video footage of the Sentinelese. This depicted that they were using metals and weapons made by metals which may have been made by cracking and moulding the part of primrose ship.

After the 1997, the Indian Govt. refused to carry out more such expeditions and created an imaginary yet geographical defined perimeter around the Island. For now, we have separated us from all connection with Sentinelese. But at the same time, it questions our thinking as why we are not able to greet them. The answer lies in ourselves as still few cases comes where peoples with illegal transportation uses and take benefits of tribal peoples in all the group of Island in the exchange of mere things like basic facilities. This exchange includes Alcohol and food items and such things. We have progressed but some people still are same as pre-evolution period which affects the relation among us badly.

This information is collectively not present but still it has internet source for distinct proofs. More info and deep discussion can be found on the YouTube channel “soch by mohak mangal”, in which he elaborates the tribal connection and interaction of humans with different tribes of Andamanese.

PUBG Unban in India-Can we expect it?

PUBG Unban in India: The South Korean company, which makes the popular game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), may partner with the country’s gaming firm after its ban in India. Hindustan Times quoted Mint as saying that PUBG is exploring possibilities for a partnership with the Indian gaming company to resume operations in India. Let us know that PUBG Corp is a unit of South Korea company Bluehole Games.

Paytm First Games, one of India’s largest gaming firms, is already working in partnership with Garena Freefire, which is a competitor game for PUBG. Along with this, there are even reports that Reliance Jio can get a PUBG license in India. According to reports, the South Korean company has discussed the Revenue Share and Localization with Reliance Jio. Earlier, India’s largest telecom service provider company Reliance Jio and makers of PUBG Lite Games joined hands to give a better experience of this free to play the game. Under this partnership, Jio users who register for PUBG Lite will be given exclusive rewards. Now PUBG is trying to turn this partnership into permanent. The talks with Reliance are in the early stages and both sides are working together to look into the various aspects to work the deal. Right now, no official statement is given from PUBG or Reliance Jio.

As per sources, after the break-up with Tencent, PUBG is looking for an Indian partnership to sustain itself in the country. PUBG Corp issued a statement, stating that it was breaking up partnerships with Chinese company Tencent Games, a franchise of PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite games in India. Industry experts say that there are very few firms in India that can operate big games like PUBG.

The new partner will operate on behalf of the company in India. The claims and leaks are giving signs of Reliance Jio to be the potential partner. As of now, both the companies have not released any official statement regarding the partnership. Earlier, RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani said in a statement about the growth of gaming in India in February. Reliance also announced its Jio Fiber set-top box to support gaming console. The central government has banned 118 Chinese apps, including gaming app PUBG, amid the ongoing escalation from China along the border in Ladakh.

The South Korean maker of popular mobile game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, or PUBG, is looking to partner an Indian gaming firm in an attempt to resurrect its fortunes in its biggest market.

A person aware of the negotiations said a new licensing agreement is in the works with an Indian gaming firm to pass on the rights to run the PUBG Mobile game in India.

Unlike earlier, PUBG Corp. will now retain the publishing rights for the game, with the Indian partner handling the distribution

Vaccination and COVID-19

How long has it been since we went to school met our friends or had a family dinner at some restaurant? Since March 2020, we have all been advised to stay home and sanitise ourselves in order to stay safe. Sanitizers and masks have been added to our daily use products, all because of one tiny yet dangerous virus Covid-19!

The world is now waiting anxiously for a vaccine against this dreaded virus. Researchers around the world are working round the clock to develop vaccines to combat the pandemic. Currently, more than 165 vaccines against the corona virus are under process and 27 vaccines are undergoing human trials. Vaccines typically require years of research and testing before reaching the clinic. Today, scientists all over the world are racing to produce a safe and effective vaccine by next year.

When did the efforts start

Efforts to make a successful Covid-19 vaccine began in January 2020 with the deciphering of the SARS-CoV -2 genome. The first vaccine safety trials in humans started in March but the road ahead remains uncertain. Some trials will fail and others may end without a clear result. But a few may succeed in stimulating the immune system to produce effective antibodies against the virus.

• India and vaccine against Covid-19

Like many other countries, India too is immersed in the efforts to develop successful vaccines to counter Covid-19. Thirty different Indian companies are trying to produce a vaccine to fight the infection. 7 out of these have received approval from the World Health Organization. These vaccines are in different stages of testing and clinical trials now.

COVAXIN

COVAXIN is developed by Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech International Limited in collaboration with ICMR and NIV, Pune. This is the first vaccine from India to get regulatory approval. The vaccine makes us an inactive version of a virus to spike up production of antibodies in the host body. It recently initiated Phase I and Phase II of clinical testing.

ZyCoV-D

ZyCoV-D is being developed by Zydus Cadila based in Ahmedabad. The Phase I trials of the vaccine have already begun. Extensive research was done regarding the same in collaboration with medical labs in Europe and US.

• Russia and vaccine against Covid-19

Russia is one of the countries worst affected by Covid-19. The country has been pushing extensively for a Covid-19 vaccine for quite some time now; Russia too is a part of the race to produce the world’s first Covid vaccine. It is possible that Russia would be ready with its first domestic corona virus vaccine soon. The clinical trials were conducted by the Gamaleya National Research centre of Epidemiology and microbiology. There seem to be no reports of side effects on the volunteers. All the participants showed immunity and the country is planning for the serial production of the vaccine by September. By the beginning of next year, Russia hopes to manufacture several million doses of corona virus vaccines per month.

• Oxford University’s efforts to develop a vaccine

The university of Oxford has partnered with AstraZeneca, a British-Swedish pharmaceutical company to develop an adenovirus vector vaccine to combat Covid-19. The vaccine prototype is currently in Phase III of testing. Trials of the vaccine developed by Oxford University show it can trigger an immune response. The vaccine which has so far been found to be safe and effective is expected to be made available for the masses by the end of 2020. This vaccine would also be the first such vaccine to have a large scale testing in India. The observatory data for this vaccine is expected to be available by November this year. The company has tied up with Pune based serum institute of India to mass produce the vaccine once the company gets required approvals and licensing from medical boards.

• Some methods used to make vaccines for Covid-19

Different scientists across the world try different techniques and formulas to develop vaccines. The Oxford researchers have put small sections of the corona virus genetic code into a harmless virus that infects chimpanzees. They appear to have developed a safe virus that looks enough like the corona virus to produce an immune system. Some other scientists have used pieces of raw genetic code, either DNA or RNA. When these are injected into the body it would start producing bits of viral proteins which the immune system can learn to fight. There is also work on corona virus vaccines called ‘plug and play’ vaccines. This method is new and less tested.

Online classes results in Eyesight and Ear problems

Most of the students are now undertaking online classes due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. This is indeed a cause of worry for many parents because children spend extra hours on mobile phones and laptops. Experts also speak of the hazardous effects that digital classes can have on eyes of young children. Parents must take precautions and measures to ensure safety of the child’s eyes.

Needless to say, excessive usage of mobile phones, laptops or any other gadgets can affect children in many ways. This can be mental and physical. Eye strain is one amongst the most common problems. Some of its symptoms include excessive blinking, tearing, frequent rubbing of the eyes, dry eyes, headaches from eye strain and even tiredness. Parents must be extremely watchful and careful on how the child spends time online. Most of the classes, especially for children above class 8, goes on for long hours. Parents must cut short their time spent on video games, TV and other gadgets. Only a strict no works with most children!

During the last two weeks, a few school children in the age group of 8-10 came to my clinic with complaints of dryness in their eyes and frequent blinking of eyes. Prolonged reading on the mobile screen and watching it from close range may result in this type of problems,” says G. Hanumantha Rao, an ophthalmologist, who runs his clinic on MVP Double Road. He suggests that a laptop or a desktop with a large screen should be preferred. It also ensures that proper viewing distance is maintained, at least to some extent.

“Prolonged use of earphones can result in noise-induced deafness. It can also cause tinnitus and the child may experience ringing sounds in the ear. Severe exposure may cause inability to hear certain frequencies. The problems depend on the duration and intensity of the sound,” says B. Ramachandra Rao, an ENT surgeon at the Government ENT Hospital in the city.

Money does not get Locked ,it’s get invested:MUTUAL FUNDS

A mutual fund is a company that pools money from many investors and invests the money in securities such as stocks, bonds, and short-term debt. The combined holdings of the mutual fund are known as its portfolio. Investors buy shares in mutual funds.

Mutual funds are a popular choice among investors because they generally offer the following features:

  • Professional Management. The fund managers do the research for you. They select the securities and monitor the performance.
  • Diversification or “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” Mutual funds typically invest in a range of companies and industries. This helps to lower your risk if one company fails.
  • Affordability. Most mutual funds set a relatively low dollar amount for initial investment and subsequent purchases.
  • Liquidity. Mutual fund investors can easily redeem their shares at any time, for the current net asset value (NAV) plus any redemption fees.

How to buy and sell mutual funds

Investors buy mutual fund shares from the fund itself or through a broker for the fund, rather than from other investors. The price that investors pay for the mutual fund is the fund’s per share net asset value plus any fees charged at the time of purchase, such as sales loads.Mutual fund shares are “redeemable,” meaning investors can sell the shares back to the fund at any time. The fund usually must send you the payment within seven days.

Types of mutual funds

  • Money Market Funds: have relatively low risks. By law, they can invest only in certain high-quality, short-term investments issued by U.S. corporations, and federal, state and local governments.
  • Bond funds: have higher risks than money market funds because they typically aim to produce higher returns. Because there are many different types of bonds, the risks and rewards of bond funds can vary dramatically.
  • Stock funds: invest in corporate stocks. Not all stock funds are the same. Some examples are:
    • Growth funds focus on stocks that may not pay a regular dividend but have potential for above-average financial gains.
    • Income funds invest in stocks that pay regular dividends.
    • Index funds track a particular market index such as the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index.
    • Sector funds specialize in a particular industry segment.
  • Target date funds: hold a mix of stocks, bonds, and other investments. Over time, the mix gradually shifts according to the fund’s strategy. Target date funds, sometimes known as lifecycle funds, are designed for individuals with particular retirement dates in mind.

Should we fear the Moral Police

Freedom is being You without anyone’s permission

Anonymous

Moral police is an umbrella category of vigilante groups which act to enforce a code of morality in India. Some of India’s laws, and some actions of police forces in India are also considered to be instances of moral policing. The target of moral policing is any activity that vigilante groups, the government or police deem to be “immoral” and/or “against Indian culture”.

India has several vigilante groups that claim to protect the Indian culture. They resist and oppose cultural concepts that they deem to have been imported from the Western culture. They have been known to attack bars and pubs. Some of these groups have attacked or have forced to shut down art exhibitions, where they claim obscene paintings were being displayed. They have issued diktats against western attires. Some have also condemned beauty parlours. Some members of the media have also colluded with such groups. Some politicians have supported such viewpoints and occasionally such activities. This question has striked hard in the light of recent events of the moral policing attack on kollywood actress Samyuktha Hedge in a public park in Bangalore.

Kannada actor Samyuktha Hegde on Saturday alleged that she and her friends were morally policed, abused and assaulted in a Bangalore park by a lady called Kavitha Reddy and some men for wearing a workout clothes in a public place.

Samyuktha recorded the entire altercation on Instagram live. In another video, a man threatens Samyuktha that he will tell the media that she was doing drugs. Kavitha had called the cops and she wished for Samyuktha and her friends to be booked for public indecency.

“After being in a democracy and following all the norms of social distancing, we were abused and ridiculed by Kavitha Reddy and the mob in Agara Lake for practicing our hula-hoop while wearing sportswear. Despite being polite and trying to solve the problem, the lady hit my friend and used disparaging remarks about me and my friends,” Samyuktha Hedge said in her Instagram post.

“I was extremely disappointed with how the police who came to the location behaved, like nothing was wrong and spoke to her with respect while asked us to be quiet. The cops stood there while her mob harassed us and even after requesting the police continuously, they decided to stand there and support this (proof on igtv). Yesterday was really hard and it was so disturbing to go through this,” she added.

After the consequences of her Action Kavitha publicly apologized to Samyuktha saying that she was always against moral policing and that she realized her actions were constructed as such. She also apologized for her aggressive reactions as well.

Samyuktha accepted Kavitha Reddy’s apology and wrote, “Apologies accepted Ms Kavitha Reddy. I hope we can all move forward from the incident and make women feel safe everywhere.

This action and reaction has made us to think again that should we need moral policing when there is law and order to protect the citizens of India.

There are three things india should say goodbye to:

1. Moral Policing

2.Intolerence

3.Castesim and religious extremism.

One Rule…can end up corruption by 70%

There are many people who talks about it , and few screams and fight to end it…………but since ages, it’s not being possible to make a difference, and still have not got independence from it’s foul smell, where someone dwelling in it , without sense. But, should we live in this rut forever ?…And to accept ourselves as incapable of destroying it, and to live like a looser.

I have a one brilliant rule, if it comes into play that undoubtedly changes the fate of the country. Before i reveal it, let us know why this rule works besides many measures being taken were failing since decades.
The main feasible condition for corruption, is lack of surveillance and awareness among people, and how it greatly damages our standard of living. So,creating awareness among all the people might sometimes work, but most of the time it rewards us with great disappointment. because, India has biggest population, it’s hard to make all of us to bring on to one platform with one voice.

But, there was no dearth of solution, if we think and the first said idea is………….
This idea works with collection of students, professors, university bodies, govt anti corruption and adminstrative bodies , police.
You may wonder that how, could you connect students, professors with police?
The bitter fact is, about 90% of indian passouts graduates are unskilled according to the several esteemed surveys. The main reason for it is, not having a platform to access practical knowledge, we have severe shortage of internship opportunities and real time project works. This problem can also be indirectly solved by our main idea.

The govt should make project works mandatory and give them more importance in their course, some may refrain with this idea…but if we couldn’t able to perform on projects itself, how can we able to sustain after getting to global market; initially it might be hard, but with support of our peer and lecturers we can excel gradually.
Now, we all should be assigned project works by our colleges in collaboration with national education body (now MHRD), only on all governmental assets and organisations….here comes a game changing shot. But, how is it possible?

The government must allow all the students to study governmental organisations, properties, and projects build by them.(let’s say a dam, hospital etc…). This helps to make an assessment for the quality of work being done in various govt fields and organisations. The reports submitted by students can be used by anti corruption agencies and help them to understand the situation at very ground level. As it’s not possible for anti corruption agencies to keep an eye over every inch of the whole country, they can use this student community as a strongest trustworthy network as they don’t provide false reports, if in case; the professor and the whole college who guided him will be felt guilt, and leads to their lack of reputation in society. so, this locking system can help students ro not provide false reports.

All the students must be allotted some projects on live aspects(like dams, hospitals ,industries built and being run by govt) in their respective fields, and we have to start analyzing their maintenance and prepare and submit the report of it’s quality and working efficiency. Here itself, we get an opportunity to dig up the flaws went up and to make a change by preparing efficient reports of the atrocities made and corruption that underwent.

For say, i’m a student of civil engineering, got a project to understand about kaleshwaram dam and have to submit report on it. I started by when it has built, and how much cost it took, what are the materials used in it, what are the technologies use in it, why does the walls of the dam is being getting cracks just after 5 years of its inauguration, what is the reason for recent fire accident……..when i submit the detail report to the college, I am gonna get my marks
The above said will be the work of every student in every field, not only engineering also health, law, agriculture, finance and every field.
Instead the anti corruption bureau working on intensive ground level, they can collect all the project reports form all colleges and will be easier for them to take action, by using the information.
As, it is a real time project, the professor of individual group must take care of no flaws and genuinity of information, as it will be a major source for higher govt authorities to take action.
In simple, students has to set on to study the past govt projects and organisations; and the detailed project reports and student community acts as a strong surveillance framework and it bring out the corruptions of the past as well as prevents the corruptions of the future. This idea, if it honed by the bright minds of our country, it can surely be an influential act.

COVID-19 Pandemic Led to Delays in Care for Nearly Half of Breast Cancer Survivors

Breast Cancer is nowadays rapidly increasing in the urban Indian women. The early weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic caused 44% of breast cancer survivors to have a delay in care, according to an online survey.Because COVID-19 is so contagious, and to save healthcare resources for people diagnosed with COVID-19, many hospitals and other healthcare facilities delayed or cancelled elective procedures beginning in March 2020. Elective procedures included anything that didn’t need to be done to save someone’s life. Breast cancer screening was considered an elective procedure, so many mammograms were delayed or cancelled. Some breast cancer surgeries and other treatments also were delayed, changed, or cancelled.

The researchers from the University of Illinois Chicago who did this study wanted to see how changes in healthcare due to the pandemic affected people who had been treated for breast cancer. The researchers wrote a 50-question online survey to figure out how the COVID-19 pandemic had affected breast cancer care. The researchers invited adults who had been diagnosed with breast cancer to complete the survey by sending invitations via email, posting on social media, and sending invitations to breast cancer support networks. The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has had a profound impact on cancer care across the globe. Early data indicate increased risk of COVID-19 morbidity and mortality for cancer survivors.

Delays in a routine or follow-up doctor appointment were the most common, followed by delays in breast reconstruction surgery and diagnostic imaging or testing.About 30% of the respondents said they had a delay in treatment, including radiation, infusions, and surgery to remove the cancer.

As time has passed, doctors have seen how protective procedures, such as wearing a face mask, washing your hands, maintaining physical distancing, and avoiding gathering with people in a group, have helped slow the spread of the virus. So most facilities are once again offering all aspects of breast cancer care, including screening.

During the pandemic, the weekly average number of people diagnosed with these six cancers dropped by 46.4%. Specifically, breast cancer diagnoses dropped by 51.8% — from 2,208 to 1,064.

“Our results indicate a significant decline in newly identified patients with 6 common types of cancer, mirroring findings from other countries,” the researchers wrote. “The Netherlands Cancer Registry has seen as much as a 40% decline in weekly cancer incidence, and the United Kingdom has experienced a 75% decline in referrals for suspected cancer since COVID-19 restrictions were implemented.

“While residents have taken to social distancing, cancer does not pause,” they continued. “The delay in diagnosis will likely lead to presentation at more advanced stages and poorer clinical outcomes. One study suggests a potential increase of 33,890 excessive cancer deaths in the United States.”

First impressions: Upcoming IPO of LIC

On the 1st February of the year, Govt released the budget for the year 2020 including various points and some new things to kick start. One of the major news was about the disinvestment of the LIFE INSURANCE CORPORATION. The government has decided to give an Initial Public Offering for his stake of some of its holdings. LIC was established in 1956 which is fully owned by the Govt. of India. “Listing on the stock exchanges disciplines the company, provides access to financial markets and unlocks value,” Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in her Budget 2020 speech. “It also gives an opportunity for retail investors to take part in the wealth so created.”

LIC has total assets and costs is around 36 lakh crores. This IPO plays a major role in Finance of India for this. After the COVID-19 situation, this becomes the most important yet vulnerable in equity market case. Govt has some more divesting plans including the BPCL and Air India in the 2nd half of FY 2020-21. However both are running sluggish but LIC expected to list soon. Govt. has set some targets and hopes from this move in future financial years which are following:

  • Disinvestment Target – Rs 2.1 lakh crores.
  • Expected IPO size of around 1 to 1.2 lakh crores for LIC.
  • IPO size of approx. 20k-25k crores for Air India.
  • Estimated IPO size of 50k-60k crores for BPCL.
  • Test of Indian share market’s depth.

Market depth will be stake for test because usually market crashes after some big IPO comes. Asset monetization is the big factor for reviving the economy after some crisis times. Latest fall in market was when SBI Card IPO was offered and hence market attracted towards it and rest of market saw a big down.

As year 2020 has seen a low phase of century in all terms like economy, socialites and life threat due to COVID-19. People are very cautious about their money and they are taking each step only after they are double sure, and they feel necessity to do so. Market has surge and it is not getting levelled in coming months.  A report suggests that economy has fall about odd 20% which will take a year or two to resurface. Looking at situation the only place people are hoping is for their insurance and other covers. Which is good sign for LIC and also for market and economy. Public is caring for their health crisis and hence it may result in good for LIC if it works well.

First year business of LIC before IPO is around 75.9% of market share. (we have not considered the first quarter as its not confirmed and also it is full of disruptions). It has registered the growth of 25% in this year. While Policies wise, it has share percent of 68.7%. However private companies also saw a growth rate of nearly 10% which is little better than their previous performances. LIC has total of 1.2lakh employees including its agents. This factor plays an important role for their brand value and reach to each people in India.

Unlike other finance options, Insurance and other schemes has seen a growth over the COVID-19 period as peoples are scared about their money. They are not willing to invest in other things like equity, debt bonds and commodity. They are looking for an option for future which can return money with a little but sure profit. They also want security for various reasons including any sudden emergency and problems. LIC while has some brilliant figures in terms of returns and claim settlement overall. LIC has more than 99% ratio of successful claim settlements. LIC has become the brand over the years. In the backward areas like village which have not grown as fast as cities, they feel LIC as the only Insurance provider. Infect they will misinterpret you if you say take some insurance. They will feel you are saying to buy LIC, such is the depth of trust in PAN India.

LIC is so successful that it has nearly 1lakh crore of unclaimed settlements in total. This is the amount which has not ever been claimed. This says all about their service and value. Total Asset Under Management is around RS 31lakh crores. LIC has revenue of Rs. 3.37 lakh crores and their net Income is 30,000 crores. While other private companies have total revenue of 1000 crores to 2000 crores. Media discussions estimates the market cap of Rs 10 to 12 lakh crores. Embedded value of LIC focuses on net profit growth a company has to offer his share holders in future. While the LIC has structure to offer 95% of his earning as bonus to their policy holders and employees, while remaining 5% goes to the government of India. This structure is quite old and not preferable as per the guidelines of SEBI. It has to be changed to get Under the equity market and SEBI.

LIC is a very big company on paper which is now preparing to appear for public. It is expected to come as a bang, but somewhere down the line company has lost its market hold over the years. It has reduced to 70% from 90% in last two decades. Which is something to ponder on. This will play a big role for shareholders, if they are thinking to go long term with the LIC. Also, an investor should dive deep into such aspects before taking a stake in LIC. The reason to check for such reason is that company is earning profits, but it has not yielding any growth. But due to increasing inflation shareholder needs that extra edge to compete with price hike in future.

Insurance sector contributes almost the 3.7 % of total GDP of India. While this ratio raises to 6.5% of total GDP of World. This shows the actual path it has still to cover to stay at normal scale of worldwide. Insurance sector has natural growth of 10-11% per annum. Total Asset Under Management is around 40 lakh crores and due to this natural growth, equity of insurance companies is increasing with a boom. The growth which company will do as their extra amount of good work and better performance will add ap the total effect in market and their market cap to grow faster. That’s why shares are enjoying such good run and investors are taking benefits of these parts quite well. Thing to watch out now is how other market players of insurance will sustain when LIC IPO gets introduced. That will tell the story of market in future whether we are balanced enough or we are still vulnerable on market stands.

Small amount of consumption of alcohol can be bad for the health

While daily consumption of alcohol increases apetite, studies have also associated alcohol with an increase in the amount of subcutaneous fat, both in men and women, especially around the abdominal area.Alcohol consumption makes certain changes in the body which results in weight gain. Researchers at the University of Liverpool found that daily consumption of alcohol increases the appetite by reducing the functioning of leptin (the hormone which manages and reduces hunger), which ultimately results in weight gain.

As per the US-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, moderate use of alcohol is defined as two drinks a day for men and one for women, depending on alcohol content in the concerning drink. But recent research done on 2.7 crore people shows that even a small amount of alcohol can have a strong negative effect on people.

The results of the analysis showed that alcohol consumption has a strong association with obesity, as well as metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions such as obesity, abnormal blood sugar levels and high blood pressure, all of which increase the risk of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes.

It was found that men who consumed either half or one standard drink a day (which is equivalent to 7.1 to 14 grammes of alcohol) were around 10 percent more likely to suffer from obesity and metabolic syndrome while the ones who consumed up to two drinks a day (which is equivalent to 14.1 to 24 grammes of alcohol) showed 22 percent to 25 percent increased risk of getting the disease.

Amongst all, the men who drank more than two drinks (24 grammes of alcohol) per day showed 34 percent higher risk for developing obesity and 42 percent increased risk of suffering from metabolic syndrome.
