Procrastination is an action of unnecessarily delaying tasks. Most of us struggle with delay and avoiding work on a regular basis. It has become a habit of delaying work to the next day to the point where deadline knocks on the door.
We make a resolution to stop procrastinating our work but we fail to keep it. When you know that you have enough time you tend to delay because you think there is plenty of time left in the future and you can complete it any day but postponing work till last day stresses you out and it reflects on your work.
So, how can you avoid this habit of procrastination ?
Here are some tips to follow.
Set deadlines –
Lose the habit of pushing your work to tomorrow. Set deadlines. Aim to complete your work on the that deadline. Always set deadline that can be achieved. Set deadlines that help you to complete your work two days or a day prior. This way you struggle to the last minute.
2. Organize yourself
Tracking progress and due dates is a great way to ensure timely completion of work. You can make use of daily or weekly planners.
3. Prioritize your work –
Make a to do list where you list down your assignments and projects according to their priority. The most urgent and important should be given more attention followed by less urgent and less important.
4. Avoid distractions –
Avoid activities or places that cause distraction. Always silent your phone to avoid calls or notification sounds. Notification sounds are distracting and compel you to focus on the phone rather than your work. Quite places help you to concentrate on your work. Noisy backgrounds distract you.
5. Set goals –
Unplanned routine is a cause of procrastination. Setting goals gives a clear plan as to how you should proceed with your assignments or projects. But remember to set realistic goals. Instead of focusing on completing large chunks of work at one go, focus on completing lesser amount on a regular basis.
6. Always take a break
Breaks are needed to restore drained energy during studies. Take a 5-minute walk or have something to eat. Avoid longer breaks. Time your breaks. Also, being on phone should be avoided only if you feel phone can distract you from your timed break.
7. Reward yourself
Incentives encourage you to work harder. After you complete your target of the day, reward yourself with something you like.
8. Be around people who are organized
Spending time with people who are organized and do they work on time should be made friends with. They inspire you to push yourself and work diligently. They inculcate their drive in you.
9. Avoid thinking of it as a pain
Since, you are not used to doing things before the due date, it can be painful and tiring at first but eventually you will like how stress-free it is to complete it beforehand. You will be motivated to work more.
Procrastination can be difficult to overcome but it is not impossible if you believe in yourself. If you truly want to get organized and free yourself from the stress of last minute deadlines, then these tips will help you.
All farmers do farming, but nowadays Pearl farming trend is rising rapidly. Fewer labor and greater benefits are proving to be a bargain. Earlier, training for Pearl farming was given at Central Institute of Fresh Water Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar (Odisha), but now many other organizations are providing the training in the state.
The most advantageous season for pearl cultivation is the time of autumn i.e. October to December. Beads can be cultivated in a pond of at least 10 x 10 feet or larger. For pearl cultivation, pearls can be generated from a maximum of 25000 oysters in a tiny pond like 0.4 ha. To start farming, the farmer has to gather oysters from pond, river etc. or they can also be purchased.
After this, after every minor operation in each oyster, simple or designed beads with diameter of four to six mm like Ganesha, Buddha, floral shape etc. are put inside it. The oyster is then closed. These oysters are kept in nylon bags for 10 days on anti-biotic and natural feed. These are scrutinized daily and dead oysters are eliminated
Profits of pearl farming
A single oyster costs around 20 to 30 rupees at a lesser cost. The price of one mm to 20 mm oyster pearl in the market is around Rs 300 to Rs 1500. Nowadays designer beads are being liked very much, which get good price in the market place. Much better income can be earned by trading pearls in overseas market than Indian market. After eliminating the pearl from the oyster, the oyster can also be marketed. Many decorative items are made by oyster. The work of obtaining fragrance oil from oysters in Kannauj is also done on a huge scale. Due to which oyster can also be sold in the local market instantly. The water of streams and ponds is also filtered by oysters, so that the problem of water contamination can be dealt with to a great extent as oysters are voracious filter feeders, they keep the water clear of pelagic algae & floating detritus
It is a Source of income for pearl farmers
While pearl oysters are edible, they are rarely consumed. This means they can be bred in murky, possibly polluted water to achieve points 1 & 2
If they are to be eaten as well as to produce pearls, then they need to be bred in unpolluted water. However, selling them as food, if not for humans then at least as pet food, after harvesting the pearls provide the farmers with an additional source of income
It usually takes 20 to 24 months to give you results but if cultivated properly it usually gives you an income of 10-12 lakhs that is around a profit of 8 lakhs.
Pearl cultivation gives you a large amount of profit while only requiring your skill and will to give you such good results.
Other prospects of pearl farming
For handling a pearl farm effectively, one needs to check the farm consistently. By doing so, you will know if there are any broken or missing lines. Also, check for any absent shells from the site.
Next step is to regularly clean the site since of the amount of useless organisms that breed on the lines, shells and other hanging materials. While cleansing, you have to take special care as pearl oysters tend to get stressed out after cleaning is done. Frequent cleaning can be prevented and should be done once in a month.

Pattachitra or Patachitra is the ancient traditional and indigenous cloth based painting technique of Odisha and is highly known for its intricate details. The word Pattachitra is derived from Sanskrit words, “Patta” meaning canvas and “Chitra” meaning painting or picture. Thus, Pattachitra is painting which is done on canvas and makes use of rich colors, creative motifs and designs for mythological narratives and folktales.

The specialty of the painting is that, it uses colors that are natural and are fully made by Chitraakaras or Odiya Painter. The tradition of Pattachitra painting is more than thousand years old and is still practiced in the state.
HISTORY OF THE ART FORM
The arts inscribed in “Pattachitra” resemble the ancient murals of Odisha and Lord Jagannath is taken as the source of the art form. The artform mainly shows the religious centers of Puri, Konark and Bhubaneswar region and the best works of the artform are found in and around Puri and especially in village of Raghurajpur. Other such regions were the artform is still being practiced in Paralakhemundi, Chikiti and Sonepur. The color schemes used in the artform are similar to the color schemes of deities of Puri. The wooden statues of the three deities of Puri are covered with cloth and are painted with the four limited colors of red, yellow, white and black. These deities also have their traditional art and painting which shows their life events and different tales and these are as old as the deities themselves.
Some of the popular tales or themes that are depicted in this art form are “Thia Badhia: A Depiction fo temple of Jagannath”, “Krishna Lila: Enactment of Jagannath as Lord Krishna and his powers displayed during his childhood”, “Panchamukhi: Depiction of Lord Ganesh as a five headed deity” etc. These themes are the soul of the art form and are the true reason behind the existence of this artform. The artform requires unbending concentration and careful craftmanship and it takes nearly five days of work for completing the art and it may take long or shorter period onnthe basis of the complexity of work and labour required.

Pattachitra painting is a disciplined art form and the makers always stick to the use of natural products only for making Pattachitras. They have certain rules the follow and abide by while making an artform and end up creating remarkable paintings that depict emotions, tales, history, culture etc. and the Chitrakars try their best to being the most accurate expression through the use of the rich colorful motifs.
Pattachitra has came a long way and has gone through large number of transitions and the chitrakaras have painted on tussar silk and even on palm leaves. Wall hangings and showpieces are also being created. And all this is done by strictly following the rules and these have remained intact throughout generations.
Pilpantri, a village with a population of 8000 , located in Rajasmand district of Rajasthan has been a matter of pride for the entire nation. It is the perfect example of how the cycle of change starts from one person itself. This small village has been attracting attention from all over the world due to its efforts of saving the environment and promoting the girl child birth and education. Now, feminism and Rajasthan in one sentence may be shocking to some as Rajasthan has a tanned image for female infanticide, child marriage and is considered to be one of the least progressive state for females. However, times are changing. Pilpantri, itself being an example of this change which has made it a role model of eco feminism.
This village plants 111 trees for every single girl child being born there. The number of trees being “111” for every girl child has a different story behind it. India is a land of traditions which is what makes us unique. It is a tradition in India that on every auspicious occasion a donation of 101, 111, 1100 or the similar numbers being made ,which is termed as “shagun” in Indian terms. The traditions when used in an innovative way may prove extremely beneficial for the present times. The plantation of such a huge number for every girl child born increases the green cover around the village protecting the people there from the pollution and its aftermath, which is one of the biggest problems in India. The saying “Nature has solution to every problem provided you regard it well” holds true.
History of the plantation drive
In 2005, when Shyam Sunder Paliwal had taken over as the village sarpanch, the entire area surrounded by hills was denuded for mining. The district of Rajasmand is known for marble block mining and is the largest producer of marble in the entire country. Mining leads to the loss of vegetation and invites several problems in the mined areas such as floods, water logging, soil erosion as the natural protectors of environment i.e. the trees are sacrificed in mining and no or least attempt is made to restore them.
Two years later, when Kiran , Paliwal’s 17 year old darling daughter died due to dehydration, he decided to honor her by planting a tree in her name on the village entrance. He then thought of implying this scheme for the birth of every daughter in the village . Not only to celebrate the birth of a girl (which is a very rare practice in India) are trees planted but also to commemorate the lives of those who died. The village plants 11 trees in the memory of every person that dies here.
Pilpantri as a model of feminism
In India, where patriarchy has a strong hold, females are neglected since birth and are seen only as an institution to carry on the generations forward. The birth of the female becomes a matter of shame for the family while some starts to worry about the dowry of a new born girl. To put a stop to all these problems, the people came with a very “horrifying” solution which is to kill the girl before she is born. A report suggests that in Rajasthan, the child sex ratio is 888 girls per 1000 boys. The census also revealed that of total deaths in Rajasthan, over 20% of them were infant deaths. Overall, the female child population (age 0-6) between 2001 and 2011 dropped by 3 million. One journalist referred to this as “the silent genocide.” Female infants are sometimes tragically killed by opium poisoning, starvation, or even being crushed with stones or drowned in water.
Pilpantri , a small hamlet not only cares for the environment with every girl born but also secures her future through the various schemes implemented by the village. As reported by The Hindu, Rs. 21,000 is collected from the village residents at the birth of a girl child and Rs.10,000 from the girl’s father and this sum of Rs. 31,000 is made into a fixed deposit for the girl, with a maturity period of 20 years. Also, the village authorities make these parents sign an affidavit promising that they would not marry her off before the legal age, send her to school regularly and take care of the trees planted in her name.
When the girls grow up, they tie Rakhi( a holy sibling bond signifying the protection of each other) to the trees.
Pilpantri as a model for environmentalism
According to a report by BBC, the region now has more than 350,000 trees, from mango and gooseberry to sandalwood, neem, peepal and bamboo, growing across the once-barren lands and covering an estimated 1,000 hectares. To plant the trees what is required is soil and water along with the saplings. The more the greenery, it will attract higher numbers of birds , bring more rain and prosperity to the region.
The village has also developed a water harvesting system , where the run off rain water is collected through ditches, bunds and dams. Now, clear pools of water shone and adorn the village attracting animals like geese and rabbits.
Also, to protect the large number of trees from termites villagers plants aloe vera in large amounts near the trees which in turn is utilized by the women of the village to make aloe juice ,gels and cosmetics for sale in the market, increasing the village economy and their independency.
In 2018 the state government instituted a training center there to educate people on the “Piplantri Model”. The building hosts engineers, officials and residents from other districts who hope to replicate Piplantri’s model of water harvesting and tree planting elsewhere in Rajasthan and the country. As many as 50 to 60 visitors come to Piplantri some days – most of whom come to attend workshops in the training center – and the village even has a set of cottages to house them.
Now, the birth of a daughter is no more considered to be a burden but a matter of pride and celebration. It is the efforts of Shyam Sunder Paliwal which have adorned the earlier dried village considering females as a burden , into a developed hamlet which is an inspiration for the entire country in more than one ways. The woman has been associated with “fertile lands” in literary terms by many poets since ancient times . It is not only because of her ability to reproduce which gives her this association but also her ability to nurture and regrow an arid land of which Pilpantri is the best example.
Oxygen debt means when the demand for oxygen is greater than the supply. It means that when your body works hard you breathe a lot of oxygen but you can not absorb enough oxygen to cope with the level of activity. It is the stage of oxygen debt. As a matter of fact, ATP (or adinosine triphosphate) is the source of energy for muscular contraction . There are three main sources , which provide a continual supply of ATP.
Creatine phosphate.
Glycolysis
Oxidative phosphorylation ( critic acid )
When our muscles remain in resting position, these contain large amount of ATP and creatine phosphate . But, when we start exercise during the first few seconds of muscular contraction, the reserved ATP is used up immediately. During this period , ADP ( or adinosine diphosphate ) levels increase. Creatine phosphate rapidly supplies ATP for the contraction of muscles. The molecule of creatine phosphate contains both energy and phosphate , which are transferred to a molecule of ADP to form ATP and creatine. If the contraction is short , the muscle can drive all its ATP from creatine phosphate. If light exercise is to be done for longer period, other sources of ATP must be available . Glycolysis is the process by which glycogen ( stored from of glucose in muscles ) or glucose from the blood is broken down to CO2 and H2O by oxidative phosphorylation in the citric acid cycle to produce more ATP . The breakdown of ATP , the combination of creatine phosphate with ADP , and glycolysis can occur both aerobically (in the presence of oxygen ) and anaerobically ( in the absence of oxygen ) . Oxidative phosphorylation is an aerobic process . It means it requires the presence of oxygen . If oxygen supplied to muscles gets exhausted ( during heavy muscular activity ) , the pyruvic acid formed in glycolysis is converted to lactic acid . The accumulation of lactic acid in the muscle causes fatigue. At this stage ,m muscle is in oxygen debt . If exercise is continued , then there will be more debt of oxygen . In oxygen debt , lactic acid diffuses out into the blood and is carried to the liver, where it is reoxidised to pyruvic acid. In the liver , pyruvic acid can enter the citric acid cycle and can be broken down to CO2 and H2O . It can be said that it is reconverted to glycogen . It has been observed that up to the deficit of 2.3 litres oxygen , the lactic acid is not produced in muscles but , after that , if the amount of lactic acid goes on increasing , the deficit of O2 will be increased at the same rate .A complete rest helps in removing oxygen debt . During the rest , ATP is again stored in the muscles for activities . Generally , lactic acid is removed approximately in one hour if cooling down is performed properly . It may also take 2 hours or more if cooling down is not done with gentle exercise .

Nowadays, Technology plays a huge role in our daily lives ranging from the simplest of apps to the most groundbreaking inventions. Every single website or piece of software that we encounter has been built by a web developer. To the newbies who have no idea about it, web development can seem like a complicated, confusing, and somewhat inaccessible field. So, Today in this article we’ll put some light on this fascinating industry.
What is Web Development?
According to Wikipedia “ Web development is the work involved in developing a Web site for the Internet or an intranet.” Web development is also known as website development, and the professionals that maintain a website are called web developers or more commonly web devs.
Scope of Web Development
It ranges from developing a simple page of plain text to complex web applications. A more comprehensive list of tasks to which Web development commonly refers, may include Web engineering, Web design, Web content development, client liaison, client-side/server-side scripting, Web server and network security configuration, and e-commerce development.
The Basics Of Web Development
The basic divisions in web development is as follows:
Client-side or Frontend
Server-side or Backend
Database Technology or Content Management System
Front-end/Client-side
Client-side coding or frontend development refers to everything that is experienced by the end-user directly. The frontend code executes directly in a web browser and is the part which people see when they visit a website. Things like layout, fonts, colours and menus etc are all driven by the frontend.
Back-end/Server-side
Server-side coding or backend development refers to what goes on behind the scenes. The backend is essentially that part of a website that the user doesn’t actually see. It stores the data and ensures that everything on the client-side runs smoothly. It is done by communicating with the frontend.
Database Technology
The another important part is the storing and retrieving of data which is done via a Database Management System. It contains all the files and content that are necessary for a website to function. It stores the files in such a way that makes it easy to retrieve, organize, edit and save. Most websites typically use relational database management system (RDBMS).
Basically, the frontend, backend and DBMS all are related and work together to build and run a fully functional website or application, and these three layers form the foundation of web development.
The Difference Between Web Development And Web Design
The terms web development and web design are often used interchangeably, but these are two very different things.
Web designers design the look and feel of the website. They prepare the layout of the website and make sure it’s user-friendly, and pleasant to use. They consider all the different visual elements that form the part of a website. Web design is a broad field, and is broken down into more specific roles such as User Experience Design (UX), User Interface Design(UI), and Information Architecture.
The job of the web developer’s is to take this design and convert it into a fully functional website. The front-end developer takes the design as provided by the web designer and develops it into website using coding languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript whereas the backend developer builds the more advanced functionality of the site, such as the payment function on a website..
In a nutshell, a web designer is the architect, whereas the web developer is the builder or engineer.

It doesn’t mean to feel like superior from others or in any arrogant way but to believe in a positive manner that you’re capable. A confident person can achieve the goals and face the scenarios of life far better than those who lacks it.
The people who are confident enough are admired by others ,can take the risk , look up the situations positively and also inspire others.
” low self-confidence isn’t a life sentence. Self confidence can be learned , practiced and mastered- just like any other skill. Once you master it, everything in your life will change for the better”.
Barrie Davenport

Our mind is an universal miracle! It’s incredible to acknowledge that our mind has the capability to process much more thoughts, than the count of the molecules. Our stream of consciousness is about 15,000 words per minute. But the control is in our hands. It is possible to predict and have a control on the prudent aspects of our life, by being a master of our mind and its thinking process. Thomas Edison’s famous saying is that ” Thinking is the hardest work of all, which is why most people avoid it at all costs.” Thus the term ‘Think‘ plays an inevitable role in each stage of our life.
So, developing the habit of thinking is one of the best thing that we do for ourselves; but how does we think matters a lot because, ‘thinking’ is a kind of ardent skill that one should carry over. This process is done with the basis of the partial informations and available statistics which may lead to cognitive bias and it is important to be careful before we think as the available sources of informations may not be trusted. Let’s get landed into the so-called Slow thinking which contrasts from the fast thinking. These two thinking styles differs as the former would be called as something that is conscious, effortful and logical process and the latter would be termed as unconscious, frequent and automatic.
Fast thinking is the course of making decisions quickly such as while driving a car in a traffic. Such decisions are made with less considerations as it takes most of its role in our daily life situations. It doesn’t matter whether one orders for a hamburger or sandwich, but he/she is definite to grab a delicious dish! Whereas slow thinking should be considered with little difference as it costs for long-term decisions with preferable consequences. Determination of a goal can be quoted as a good example. It may be disastrous to use fast thinking in such circumstances. This concept cannot be bound with such long-term aspects, but also with the decision making in situations such as, to turn the focus towards the clown in a circus and giving someone our telephone number. Certain decisions which are made at the moment, may have long lasting impacts. Even turning the focus from a central black dot towards the surrounded white sheet requires slow thinking. In this way it could be evinced that slow thinking drives our mind in a unique manner, which may also enhance oneself with good attitude and perseverance.
So the very title, why is it necessary for us to get acquainted with Slow thinking? The reply is; according to scientists the speed of information processing of the human mind could be calculated with the inverted ‘U’ shape. The thinking speeds up from childhood to adolescence and then gradually slows down as the age increases and that’s why we hear our grandma’s or grandpa’s say that they tend to forget things easily. The relative stability in our thinking process is maintained in the youth period. The frontal and parietal cortex, which is most of the brain is responsible for analytical decision making and as the age surpasses, the white matter of the brain tears which is connected by the apron cells.
Thus, all our mind is trained to run towards the future in accordance with the conventions. Since our life is oriented with futuristic goals, it is important to practice slow thinking, in accordance with the long-term consequences. The adolescent and the youth period of life is the important stage as the energy is reserved to direct them towards our plans and it is essential to practice the habit of slow thinking especially during this time, as our measures would be directed in futuristic way. ‘Actions should speak louder than words, and our mind should be moderate before we perform something.’
Everyone in this world faced this kind of situation lots in their life. stress occurs when one’s desires are not fulfilled properly or ended negatively . I am not a psychiatrist I am just a student who have gone through lots of stress in my life and everyone has too. But I didn’t give up that’s my power . I become more and more confident when I raised my positive outlook in life. Always ask this questions when you’re in stress.
1)what’s the reason behind my stress?
2)Is this stress necessary ?
3)why I’m thinking that this bad luck will last long throughout my life?
4)what are the ways to remove my poor mindset?
Answering this questions itself gives you a lot of clarity. Here are some things that humans commonly do avoid that
1)Comparing your life with others life:
Avoid this kind of thinking. your personality and life is different from others then why comparing your life with others. They may look like happier but they only know how much stages they have gone through in their life. So, don’t have this silly thought that what kind of troubles that they have faced in their life. Human life is of two sides negative and positive .Everything is connected when we face negative side we learn and the result is success (positivity) that’s how life works.
2) Avoid jealousy:
This kind of character will destory you . Don’t get jealous about others instead compliment them. It will make you happier than ever. Instead of being jealous , learn from them.Use that knowledge to improve yourself in your own way. Being Jealous is a waste of time as it will not improve you instead it will degrade you on a lower level.
3)Positive outlook :
whatever happens in your life look in positive outlook. The universal truth is whatever thing you took it will have both advantages and disadvantages .
For example: Morning and Night . Let’s keep morning as happiness and night as sadness . If you like only the morning time and you keeping it for the full day and avoiding the night .For somedays you can survive but living for longer period destroys the world as well as you due to the aggressive heat of the sun . That’s how universe works . In your life too you have to face both in order to balance your life . Instead of getting stressed accept this truth and it will help you to grow .

Teaching gardening in schools
This project was launched in 2 schools of Waynad – Hill Blooms School, Mananthavady and Government High School, Thrikaipetta, in January, 2021 and it is a huge success till date. The programme was initiated by developing a nutrition garden and fruit garden at both schools following COVID 19 protocols.
These gardens were designed on approximately 870Sq.ft land and fruit trees were planted as part of the campus greening. The nutrition garden has been cultivated with mostly leafy greens such as Amaranthus, Spinach, Curry leaves and Moringa and the commonly consumed vegetables such as Brinjal, Okra, Beans and Cow peas as well as medicinal plants , fruit trees, wild food plants and larval hosts have also been planted.
The first harvesting from the nutrition gardens at the edible schools was done by the students and they were guided by their leaders. They were very excited to see their produce as well as fruit garden saplings of Guava, Custard Apple and Mango seeds growing into healthy trees.
Although during pandemic the students couldn’t visit the school campuses much, the nutrition gardens have been extended to their homesteads. Training was given to the students for the collection and multiplication of the seeds of wild native trees like Venga, Njaval, Athi etc. The seedlings planted by the students will be handed over to MSSRF and hence, the students will be a part of the reforestation programme
