Shashi Tharoor and his ideology on British rule in India

An author, politician and former International civil servant, Shashi Tharoor, once said – ” India matters to me and i would like to matter to India.”
He is currently a third-term Lok Sabha MP representing the Thiruvananthapuram constituency. People mostly regard him as “Oxford dictionary”, because of his impeccable knowledge of English Literature. Shashi Tharoor, in his book named An Era of Darkness: The British empire in India that was published in the year 2016 talked about colonization and the
disastrous effects it had on Indians. In his book, he explained about the evils of British rule and how it affected us Indians, deeply explaining how we were being trampled upon by the Britishers and treated as animals without any freedom. Tharoor wrote in details how the Britishers looted India off of it’s rich resources, culture and wealth. In one of the most famous lines from the book, he writes:

“They (the British) basked in the Indian sun and yearned for their cold and fog-ridden homeland; they sent the money they had taken off the perspiring brow of the Indian worker to England; and whatever little they did for India, they ensured India paid for it in excess. And at the end of it all, they went home to enjoy their retirements in damp little cottages with Indian names, their alien rest cushioned by generous pensions supplied by Indian taxpayers.” Tharoor has remarked that every single thing or development that occured in British India such as establisment of Railways, parliamentary democracy, rule of law and others were simply done for their own benefits and luxury and not for Indians or for India’s progress and betterment. Tharoor explains that though some British legacies proves to be useful today, however they were just mere side effects that came along with colonial authoritarianism.
Tharoor genuinely believes that after 200 years of immense brutality and injustice to Indians, Britain owes an apology to India and Indians. Some of the most outrageous events in history of India took place under British reign. For instance, according to recent studies, the Bengal Famine of 1943 that costed millions of lives was caused not only by drought but also by the complete failure of the policy of British India under the Ministry of Winston Churchill, who is remembered as the man who caused the Bengal famine. Furthermore, the horrendous Jallianwala Bagh massacre was a heinous crime committed under British Raj. Today, Indian society is divided along lines of caste, creed, religion and culture but it is little known fact that the Colonial Government ignited such divides and pitted one community against the other. Shashi Tharoor did a marvellous job with the book and made us realise what we had forgotten with passage of time.

GENDER DISCRIMINATION IN INDIA

Gender discrimination is the inconsistent or disadvantageous treatment on someone because they belong to a specific gender. It is normally the women who need to face such gender discrimination.

Gender difference actually exists in India. Being brought into the world as ladies in Indian culture, one needs to confront gender discrimination at all levels. At the family level, females are restricted to their household work, bringing up youngsters and taking care of families, independent of their schooling degrees or occupation profile. At her work environment: ladies have restricted admittance to job opportunities and are paid less for a similar work.

Training and learning open doors: gender-wise education rates in India represent the wide gap among people. According to 2011 census information, effective literacy rates (age 7 or more) were 82.14% for men and 65.46% for ladies. Parents in India are not willing to spend money on the education of girls on the grounds that educated ladies is of no worth as they will just serve their spouses and the parents in law later on. The Indian constitution gives equivalent freedoms and privileges to all kinds of people, however most ladies across India despise these privileges and potential ensured to them.

CAUSES OF GENDER DISCRIMINATION

Poverty: This is the main factor of gender discrimination in the male dominating society, as the financial reliance on the male partner is itself a reason for gender discrimination. An aggregate of 30% of individuals live underneath the poverty line, and out of this 70% are ladies.

Illiteracy: Gender discrimination In India had prompted educational backwardness for young ladies. It’s a pitiful reality that regardless of educational changes in the country, young ladies in India are still denied to learn. The attitude should be changed, and individuals need to comprehend the advantages of teaching young ladies. An informed, very much perused lady guarantees that different individuals, particularly the offspring of the house, get quality schooling.

Patriarchal setup in our Indian society: Men dominate cultural and everyday life in India. This has been the situation in the past ages and keeps on being drilled in most of the families. However, this attitude is changing with urbanization and education, there is yet long way for the situation to change permanently.

Social Customs, Beliefs and Practices: Until now, majority of families have an inclination for a male youngster and disgrace towards the little girl. Children, particularly in the business networks, are viewed as financial, political, and ceremonial resources where girls are viewed as liabilities.

Lack of Awareness Among Women –A large portion of the ladies know nothing about their fundamental privileges and abilities. They miss the mark on essential comprehension of how the financial and political powers influence them. They accept all prejudicial practices that exist in families from age for the sake of custom and cultural standards, basically because of their lack of awareness and ignorance.

Gender-based discrimination across India can only be checked when young ladies are not denied their opportunity to learn and grow.

OVERCOMING GENDER DISCRIMINATION

  • Promoting human rights by supporting media events for girl child.
  • Complaining to police if we witness any sex determination test.
  • By making a severe move against gender discrimination.
  • Creating awareness for gender equality in our villages, cities, nearby areas, society etc.

STATUS OF WOMEN IN INDIA

The situation with women in India has been dependent upon many changes over the range of recorded Indian history. Their situation in the public arena disintegrated early in India’s ancient period, particularly in the Indo-Aryan talking regions, and their subjection kept on being reified a way into India’s initial current period.

  • EDUCATION

India’s poverty is one of the fundamental explanations behind low education among ladies. Just 13% of farm is claimed by ladies across India, in any case, this figure is exceptionally low with regards to Dalit ladies in India. Around 41% ladies in India make their living by physical work.

Being a non- earning member, it further grows women’s weakness and expands women reliability on their male partners.

India is positioned 105 among 128 nations in its Education for All Development Index. Among SAARC countries, India stands third behind Sri Lanka, and Maldives. India actually has one of the least female education rates in Asia. According to the India’s last enumeration in 2011, the female education remains at 65.46% contrasted with 82.14% of males. Estimates show that for each 100 young ladies in rural India just a single girl arrives at class 12 and practically 40% of young ladies leave school even prior arriving in fifth standard.

LABOUR FORCE

Women’s cooperation in the force is very low, and has been falling in the course of the most recent couple of years. The female to male proportion is just 0.36. This is deteriorated by absence of decisions that ladies need to take part in paid business related to work type and area, patriarchal gender norms, and the excessive burden of neglected consideration work that ladies bear.

GENDER WAGE GAP

The wage gap between Indian male and female is among the most exceedingly awful in the world, a report by international confederation of charitable associations, Oxfam, said. The Monster pay Index (MSI) says, Indian men earn 25% more than women in a similar sort of work done by all kinds of people. The normal orientation gap is 38.2%. Not only that, Accenture research says that the gender gap in India is pretty much as high as 67%. Over 47% of ladies in India are associated with Agriculture related works, but the wage gap is inconceivable, in view of non-uniformity in areas, which is the same for other unorganized sectors in India.

WORK AND LIFE BALANCE

There is as yet the obligation assigned to women of being liable for care in their home and the need to earn money to keep up with their families.

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

Given to India’s male dominating society, aggressive behavior at home remains as socially acknowledged due to social and strict reasons. In a study with young men and women in India, 57% of young men and 53% young ladies accept beating by spouses is acceptable. In one more ongoing overview between 2015-2016, it uncovered, 80% of working ladies experience abusive behavior at home because of their spouses.

WOMEN IN MEDIA AND SPORTS

Gender discrimination by all accounts assume a significant part with regards to the selection of stories for printing or announcing in Media in India. The Global Media Monitoring Project 2015 has found that just 37% of all accounts, remembering for papers and TV, were accounted by women. This was a similar figure 10 years prior. On the web, nonetheless, ladies’ portrayal was 42%. Inside the Asia-Pacific locale, ladies correspondents contain just 28.6%, as per the International Federation of Journalists.

One of the reasons is that Gender predisposition keeps holding back sports talent in India particularly in bigger stage. Be it any games in India, political help and financial foundation play important part in acquiring a birth in any sport event.  Taking the national awards, less than one in 25 women got Dronacharya awards over the years, while one fourth of Arjuna awards were granted to women.

As Diana David, cricketer quotes: “Men are certainly treated better compared to ladies in cricket. For each Ranji game, we are paid pretty much nothing, maybe 10% of what the men would get. The majority of us keep on playing just for the love of the game.”

Overthinking: Road to Self’s Destruction

If we were to name any one thing or precisely one habit which is present in the major portion of people in our society, it would be the habit of overthinking. It is also called as rumination, which means thinking obsessively about a particular thought or theme that in turn interfere with the other forms of the mental activity. It is a common feature of the “obsessive compulsive disorder” and “generalized anxiety disorder”. It means that when we dwell ourselves repetitively over the same thought and the same situation over and over unless it causes anxiousness.

It is often said that when a person overthinks, he is unable to concentrate on anything be it studies or anything of relevance. His focus is not present there and this is because that thought occupies his mind so strongly that he is unable to think anything else. He is so delved in that situation that even if he tries to come out from that very place, it will worsen the situation.

The official mark of the overthinking is that it is unproductive. It is nowhere useful in building any personality trait or behavior. It just strangles the current personality of the person involving so many disorders. It just disturbs the mental functioning of the person. Thinking over the same decision and situation for hours and hours by ignoring the sleep and missing on the deadline is not something construction to a person’s life. It is not same as the stress and worry because that lasts for a short span of time but overthinking makes a person feel stuck where he is unable to act or take up any action. It is really very unhealthy for an individual.

The root cause for overthinking is that we try everything to be perfect. We want that everything to be in our full control because that is what will make us confident. And for that we analyze everything so deeply that it captures our whole mind. It occupies its place so effectively that there is no place for some other thought. It is also ironic that after overthinking we are unable to take up any action regarding that. Whenever a solution pops up, another worry question comes in the mind and the cycle continues. Later, we end up doing nothing.

All this while overthinking is considered as bad, unhealthy and much more but the question which pops up in everybody’s mind after reading it is, Is it a disorder? The answer is Yes. It is a mental disorder. It is associated with other mental health conditions like:
a) Depression
b) Anxiety Disorders
c) Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
d) Post traumatic Stress Disorder

Lastly, I want to conclude with my opinion that overthinking destroys our mental health. It also disturbs a person emotionally. In a nutshell, it creates a situation of imbalance in the body which can take a good amount to recover. So, to keep away from this kind of disorder, the individual should be always ready to challenge his thoughts. The reaction should be so strong that whenever any thought or situation tries to capture his mind or make him anxious, the person is ready to challenge it.

The Flow Of Words

500+ Writer Pictures | Download Free Images on Unsplash

Today, I am not going to write a quote, nor am I going to speak about issues, problems, and the need for change. This article is going to be something entirely different and the one I hope that connects with all people reading my article out there like it has been doing constantly. My article is going to be about the joy, beauty, and satisfaction of writing an article. As I said, something that is out of the box. This is an experience that everyone needs to have at least once in their lifetime.

Something that I have learned over the process is that if you are writing an article you do not necessarily have to publish it for the world to read. It can be a very personal thing and that will still be an article. The reason I am calling it an article and not diary writing is because a diary is very you put your feeling, emotions, and happenings of your life into paper. However, article writing is channelizing your thoughts, feelings, and emotions to things happening around you and using words to put out your opinions and perspective into it.

If you think, your article is not going to make a difference you are wrong. Every small thing that we do has an impact not just on ourselves but also on the people living around us. I would want all my readers to remember that if you are writing an article and putting it out in the public, which makes you think that it will not make a difference or an impact then it is high time you think otherwise. When you do the job of writing an article with all your might and hard work then the article will do its job and does not necessarily be out for the public.

Writing an article is not the only thing that one can do. There is so much more than that everyone can explore and bring themselves out with their amazing talent and art. We cannot please everyone on this planet nevertheless what we surely can do is please ourselves with our work and talents. The other thing that I would like to tell my readers is that when we are writing and we write for ourselves rather than thinking about other things, it often brings the best out of us, sometimes beyond our expectation and that is the magic and power of words.

Factors that make writing an article a joy

So many factors make writing an article a joy. The factors that I am going to mention are the ones that are always the ones that make me want to keep up with my writing abilities as much as I can.

Learning something new: One of the most important things that keep me going and writing as much as I can is because I always learn something new. Even though I am aware of that topic, there are so many nuances that I learn every time I about topics I am already aware of. Apart from that, new topics give me so much information about things that are happening which makes me more aware and knowledgeable that it brings about a sense of satisfaction about myself.

Makes me more aware of my society, surrounding, environment: I used to think every day about what is my article going to be about today. To find an answer to that I made sure to see things happening around me small or big. Things that are often brushed off. Social media usage helped me read so many things that exist in a society, which was good and bad. Writing an article every day about something relevant to society made me more alert and brought about so many different opinions and perspectives about things for me.

A sense of responsibility: When we know that the things we write and the things we feel play an impact, at least to some extent we become more responsible while writing our articles. This sense of responsibility made me write about topics that cover different issues that exist in society and the urge to be responsible in some way to bring about change that is much required. I believe when people read my article it should create an impact on them. Therefore, I should write with complete responsibility so that a positive impact and effect can be seen in the readers.

A major self-impact: Writing articles also comes from a place of it being able to create a positive impact on me. By writing articles, I feel much more confident, valued, respected, and have a sense of power about myself, which is the most fruitful thing for me. The best part is that it makes me feel good about myself, which matters so much in creating a positive and pleasing environment for me.

The rush of my thoughts, opinions, and imagination: This happens to me every time I think of a topic and it is the best part of writing an article for me. My thoughts, opinions, perspectives, and imagination all work together simultaneously and brings about an abundant amount of information to my head, and putting all of these down into words is what makes it so special for me. The amount of happiness I get by the flow of my words into the document is what makes my life interesting every day.

I can go on and on about several other factors that play an important role in making the process of writing an article a joy. However, bringing out each factor that brings out the beauty of writing an article for me spoils the essence. It is something I believe that people should experience on their own. Of course, some things might not be factor for me but will surely be a factor for someone else and that is completely okay. What is important is that factors should be important for you and should not be because of any external factor that is playing a role in it.

My article is not going to be very long today. It is not going to tell what one should do or how one should do things. It is because I believe everybody can write and every writing is beautiful as long as the writer loves their work

To conclude, writing an article is a beautiful journey. A journey that does not have good things in it but also bad things in it. These things might sometimes make you feel tired, however, it is only when you learn and overcome these bad things and emerge as a winner that truly makes this journey a beautiful one.

OTT Platforms: Why Are They So Popular?

What is An OTT Platform?

An over-the-top (OTT) media service is a streaming media service offered directly to viewers via the internet without the traditional use of cable/satellite.

Over–the–top media services (OTT) platforms have become quite popular since the last few years. Due to COVID-19 outbreak in the country, many filmmakers are now releasing their movies on major OTT platforms, instead of waiting for the theatres to re-open.

Your Complete Guide to Over-The-Top (OTT) Advertising

REASON FOR RAPID GROWTH OF OTT PLATFORMS

1) Affordable Subscription-Based Service:

Most OTT platforms offer very pocket-friendly subscriptions. For example, the leading OTT player in the market, Netflix offers an Rs.149 subscription for mobile users in India. The variety of content offered for prices as low as that beats PayTV/Cable subscriptions by miles and we are not complaining.

2) Ease of Viewing Across Devices:

Another major point in favor of OTT platforms is that you are not stuck in front of TV or praying for good weather before the match starts because even the tiniest of raindrops render the UFO-like dish antennas useless. OTT platforms work across smartphones, smart TVs or laptops as long as you have a valid subscription.

3) Ad-Free Streaming Experience:

This one is one big reason why OTT Platforms are getting more popularity than televisions and stuff. Wasting 15 minutes on seeing add is as irritating as it sounds. Plus it interrupts the interest while watching something. That is why the ad-free streaming experience is what viewers are investing their money and time for.

4) Flexible Subscription Models:

Unlike satellite TV/Cable subscriptions where they keep confusing you with choices that are barely any different from one another, OTT platforms offer straight-forward subscriptions. You get an all-access pass with only one subscription for Amazon Prime, whether monthly or yearly. Netflix offers multiple choices depending on how many screens are being used.

5) Ease Of Payment:

All your payments can be made online using debit/credit cards, online wallets or UPI payment options, or your Amazon pay wallet if it’s your Prime subscription. You get reminders over texts/emails before your subscription expires unlike Cable TV alerts on your TV screens that leave you more pissed off than mindful. You also don’t have to run to your local operator or spend hours on the phone any time the service is disrupted, which is a rare possibility in itself.

6) Better Choice Of Content:

The major reason most of us have taken to OTT platforms is definitely how different and fresh the content is as compared to satellite TV channels. On OTT platforms like Prime and Netflix, you can watch  pretty much anything from movies to web series to original content. Set your filters and let the algorithm recommend possibilities for compiling a list of your favourite shows to binge-watch on the weekends or late at night whenever you want, rather than waiting for it to air on the television. The originality of content is a major factor, just as much as the fact that we finally have the option to watch shows from all over the world and not just from your own country.

7) Convenience:

The best thing about the OTT platform is that it is differentiated from a normal TV set, it is based on the following slogan: “Anytime, Anywhere, Everyone”

  • Anytime – The user can watch their favourite shows at any time, because the shows are already on the web, except for just a few clicks;
  • Anywhere– User can watch shows anywhere, the only requirement is a gadget and internet facility (in case of online streaming otherwise shows can be downloaded also);
  • Everyone– Any person with any gadget can access the platform. You just need to create an account on that platform and can use it.

8) Quality and Fresh Content:

The OTT platform gives you the option to watch anything. People are also attracted to these platforms because they are tired of traditional TV serial especially Indian serial which is endless. The growing demand for fresh and original content has been addressed by these OTT platforms.

9) The World Is On Your Screen:

OTT service providers have done away with any remaining geographical barriers when it comes to the distribution of content. Now we can watch global shows at the exact same time as the rest of the world, or even premier football league matches! Similarly, even audio content distributors now finally have a global audience, leading to a tremendous rise in both revenues as well as growth opportunities.

10) Functional User-Friendly Interface:

Last but not the least, the use of AI technology in OTT platforms have created a far superior user interface experience than what traditional TV could even get close to. You see suggestions based on your browsing history and your preferred genres as soon as you launch the respective apps, as well as get alerted to upcoming launches, thereby engaging the users better without forcing them to constantly reach out for the remote control to change the channels.

With an increasing demand for content on OTT platforms, we can expect quite a few more media giants to jump on the OTT wagon. Given the potential for growth and promises of better content, it is safe to assume that OTT platforms are not going out of trend any time soon.

These are some of the epic reasons of why the OTT platforms are gaining such popularity than any other infotainment platforms.

SELF-CARE

None of the stress relieving activities will help you if you aren’t taking care of yourself. No meditation or yoga is going to get you the adequate sleep. The term self care describes a conscious act of a person in order to promote their mental, physical and emotional health. There are many forms of self care.It could be going out to get some fresh air or it could be about getting yourself enough and adequate sleep.

Unfortunately self care is considered as a luxury and not a priority by many bacuse of which they are left with the feeling of overwhelm and left inequitable to handle life challenges. Its important to make sure you are caring about yourself rightly and in every domain so that you also care for your mind, body and spirit.

Importance of Self Care:

  • Reduces anxiety and depression
  • reduces stress
  • Improves Resilience
  • Improving happiness
  • Increasing energy
  • Strengthens interpersonal relationships

According to WHO self care comes above everything else as it can help promote better mental and emotional health and help people cope better with illness.

Different types of Self-care:

Self care isn’t always about finding ways to relax. It is about finding the right way to care for your mental, physical, spiritual, emotional and social spectrum. In order to care for each of the above it is important to find a balance that can help you dress each of these areas. Sometimes you may need more self care in one area to find relief in another.

  1. PHYSICAL SELF-CARE: Your body needs a strong connection between your mind and body to function efficiently in its physical aspect. When you care for your body you’ll feel better too. Physical self care involves how much sleep one gets, how much physical activity one does and how well one cares for their physical needs.
  2. SOCIAL SELF-CARE: In todays busy world its difficult to make time for friends and its easier to neglect your relationships which at the end of the day makes you feel like yourself. Close connections are important for your well being. The best way to keep the connections are to work on them and put in time and efforts.
  3. MENTAL SELF-CARE:The way you think fills your mind with negative or positive energy which leads to your psychological well being which is as important as your physical well being. You mind find reading books or watching movies something that fuels your mind.Practicing self compassion and acceptance will help you live better with your psychological aspect of life.
  4. SPIRITUAL SELF-CARE: When a lifestyle includes religious or spiritual practices it makes life healthier. Nurturing your spirit however doesn’t have to involve religion. It can involve anything that helps you develop a deeper sense of meaning and understanding or connection with the universe which is good for our lifestyle.
  5. EMOTIONAL SELF-CARE:It is important to have healthy coping mechanism to your emotional feelings. Whether you talk to a close friend or your partner it helps you to process your emotions. Its important to incorporate emotional self care into your life. Emotional self care includes activities that help you acknowledge and express your feelings regularly and safely.

Therefore,I conclude by saying that self care in itself is the greatest form of care that people of todays generation more precisely need to take care of.

Women Empowerment

Women’s empowerment or female empowerment in its literal meaning can be said as the promotion of the women’s sense of self worth, confidence to believe in their own choices and decisions and paving the way for them to bring a social change for themselves and others also. In a nutshell, it talks about the restoration of the women’s confidence which they have lost from centuries of suppression.

Today, this topic is not merely a topic to consider but also has become a significant topic for the discussion in various fields be it economics or human resources. It has occupied its place in the global movement also and the manner in which it is gaining momentum, it will not be wrong to interpret that it will reach new heights in the coming years.

But despite its development and the progress, women and girls are still facing problems, precisely discrimination and violence, wherever they go. The notion of suppression is still imbibed in the minds of the suppressors and they are unable to accept a women’s viewpoint or opinion. They are unable to digest that a woman can also present some idea or thought which can prove to be constructive or productive in any area of life. Sometimes they do, but that is very few in number and what really this society wants is full credit and recognition.

There are many kinds of empowerment like economic empowerment, political empowerment, digital skills enhance political empowerment, cultural empowerment and so on. The basic thing which is present everywhere is that women should be given importance. They should be treated as equals and no one has the right to discriminate against them from any aspect in any phase of their life. And for this two methods which were taken into the consideration by the feminists are:
a) Raising Consciousness: To fight for the rights, one has to know what his/her rights are. It is the stepping stone. With this approach, feminists try to raise consciousness of women present out there that it is their right to be treated as equals. It is not a privilege that can only be enjoyed by few. If they are denied, they should fight for that. Not only that, its relation with the political and economical issues should also be taken into account apart from the personal struggles. Awareness of the root cause of their problems will initiate the need to be empowered.
b) Building Relationships with the women participants and their external oppressors: According to the scholars, bridging the gap between the relationships will reduce the power gap which is already prevailing in the society. The balance between the relationships is very important.

But still there are barriers present in women’s empowerment and equality because of the existent cultural norms prevailing in the society. Many of them have become accustomed to it. They have accepted the fact that they are lesser than men and happy with that only. And many men also don’t want to break or disrupt the already formed social structure. They themselves have accepted the societal norms and further inculcate in others also.

Lastly, I want to conclude with the fact that the movement of women empowerment still has to go on. It is not a project which can be achieved in 10-15 years. It will not stop unless this society change its mindset and changing of the mindset will take time. In this, the education and internet has to play a very important role in imparting consciousness and making them aware of the fact that women are equal as men’s. Nothing less and Nothing more.

THINGS ONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT LIFE

If someone wants to obtain any skill or any certificate he or she often tends to take a test which shows if he or she is least bit eligible to proceed with it. What if there was a test of practical life which could tell us how good we are with our responsibilities and the challenges that come our way. What if this way we could give our best shot at a meaningful life?

Lets focus on a few aspects which would help us live life better and to its fullest :

  • Though life is unpredictable, planning is always a good idea: Carrying an umbrella won’t prevent the storm from happening but it’ll reduce the consequences anyway. Nobody can predict the future, none of us.Everyday brings in so many experiences and events which we face which can be made easier to handle with the help of planning. It helps you bear the consequences headstrong.
  • Great Friendships enhances the quality: Good friends always enhance the quality of your life. There are certain people who join for a certain time only which makes them temporary In our journey while some join us for an entire lifetime. Deep and long lasting friendships take a long time to develop. Invest in a few, you don’t need a lot. This is one of the cases where quality is over quantity.
  • Healthy Relationships make life richer: As for romantic interests, it’s okay to acknowledge that not all relationships will last, but it is wise to try to make them as healthy and as free from conflict as possible. When in a relationship, you’ll spend a lot of time with your partner. How much you enjoy that time will depend a great deal on your attitude, expectations and actions.Just like friendships, romantic relationships also require work to maintain. And they are a team effort. You must be willing to contribute an equal amount to your partner.Eventually, you may find a life partner. Even when you do, don’t neglect to keep putting in the effort.
  • Core values should be known and valued: Like they say,”When you don’t stand for anything, you fall for everything”. Our values are what make us stand for the right.Life gets complicated at times and some decisions carry emotional baggage. It’s easier to take such decisions when you know whats important to you.Once you settle for whats important to you, you can confront things better.
  • Life is better when you invest in your health : Unlike the several materialistic things lying around you which have a quick replacement your body needs maintenance and can’t be replaced with anything else.So learn to do things which will help keep your body in better conditions. Practice habits that lead to a better life for a longer and most importantly healthier life.
  • You always have a choice: One common mistake we all make it assuming that we don’t have a choice whereas there’s always a choice. One should always do what he wants to instead of doing something else because he or she thought they didn’t have a choice. If made a wrong choice, no worries, follow the next best step after that.
  • Unhealthy relationships also make your life unhealthy: Toxins are poisonous. So are toxic people. They will sap your energy, discourage you, frustrate you, and in a myriad of ways, make your life more difficult.Avoid them if you can. If it’s impossible to avoid them, figure out how to mitigate their destructive potential.
  • Failure is your teacher, not you enemy: Failures are inevitable. Big failures and small failures. Failure is a valuable teacher but you must be a willing and a teachable student. Its said that the only thing more painful than learning from experience is not learning from your experience.
  • The art of saying NO: Through the journey of life you will figure out there are people who will be controlling or manipulativeandf influence you towards their agenda. Never let such people succeed in their agenda. Always know your way out by telling no. Its very important for you too learn to do what you want to instead of somebody else controlling it.
  • This too shall pass: On your journey there will be times when your life won’t turn out to be the way you imagined it. You have to get through that part of life as well like you do for the others.Don’t focus too much on your circumstances. Don’t spend too much time thinking about how good things used to be. Learn to accept what you cannot change.Say, “It’ll be okay, just not today.”

Women Should Also Be Financially Independent

Enough has been written and spoken about financial independence especially with reference to women in the last two decades. But what does financial independence for women mean? It is subjective and can mean different things to different women. For a working woman, it may mean being able to make her own financial decisions or being able to sustain herself financially. For a homemaker, it may mean being able to spend money whenever she wants or being able to sustain herself during emergencies.

a basic level, financial independence makes women feel more secure and respected irrespective of their socio-economic background. This automatically has a relay effect not just on women but their families, society, and the country at large. More financially independent women mean a more progressive society that is healthier

When women work, not only do they become financially independent, they have a huge influence on the larger society and the nation. Their income contributes to the family income. The family lifestyle, savings, children’s education, old-age funds, all get positively impacted. Cash in hand and hence buying capacity improves thereby impacting the economy. The impact of increasing participation of women workforce on the GDP is well documented. When the GDP of the country improves, it is not only the women who benefit, the whole nation benefits and all those naysayers who say women should stay at home also benefit.

Here’s why every woman needs to be financially independent, married or not –

1️⃣To Pre-empt emergencies:

Every family needs to be prepared for a contingency. Layoffs are more frequent, jobs aren’t super secure and neither is life. If the husband is the sole bread earner, with the wife and kids being dependent on him, then there is reason to worry for the family. Panic tends to ensue in the time the man finds a new job. With most families running the risk of multiple EMIs, it makes sense for the lady of the house to also hold down a job.

2️⃣To meet the rising cost of living:

Inflation, as we all know, has risen noticeably in the last few decades. To own a decent home, send your kids to a good school and live an above average standard of living has become very high. Hence, 2-income households certainly fare better. Women who are financially independent can not only contribute to the everyday expenses of the household, but also help to meet the family’s financial goals.

3️⃣To feel responsible and boost morale:

Financially independent people are capable of taking their own decisions and don’t have to depend on anybody. This increases their self-respect and makes them more confident to face any kind of situations in life. Many women from conservative backgrounds with dreams and aspirations depend on their partners or parents for their fulfilment. Being financially independent, will enable them to self-sufficiently fulfil their wishes – enhance their skill-sets, go for a trip with friends, or even buying things that they want and so on.

4️⃣To stop feeling dependent

: No one should have to tolerate domestic violence or abuse, much less because they’re financially dependent on their partners. Therefore, it is extremely important that every woman becomes financially independent so that they never have to feel helpless in life.

To be a role-model: A woman who can support the needs of the family financially, socially, emotionally and so on is a role model for her children to show them that gender bias is created by the society and doesn’t mean anything when a woman is strong, confident and sure of herself. The children learn from what they see. If kids see that their mothers are financially independent, they will also understand the value of money and be inspired to be self-sufficient in life when they grow up.

In the end ,Every woman is a human being first, with the right to choose her own path, with the right to express what she wants to do, and go after it without hesitation, without the fear of being judged, without the hindrances of what society believes she must do. There are no right or wrong answers except for what are her aspirations, and what she wants to achieve in life, And she is answerable to no one but herself!

It is extremely important for all women – be it married, single, separated, widowed or divorced to be financially independent. However, it is important not to financial independence with financial security. A monthly pay cheque in your bank account alone cannot render you capable of meeting all of your financial goals. It is how you plan and manage your finances which will result in fruition of goals later in life.

All about James Webb Space Telescope

History

The success of Hubble Space Telescope after its repair mission in 1993 motivated the organizations to make a larger infrared light telescope that could see the past better. Hubble telescope system’s temperature interfered with the infrared radiation it received from the outer space. A new innovative next generation telescope was needed which was faster , better and cheaper. In 2003, NASA’s initial contract for James Webb Space Telescope(JWST) was $824.8 million collaborating with European Space Agency (ESA) , Canadian Space Agency(CSA). in 2005 after major redesign and re-planning , the mission cost reached a hefty amount of $4.5 billion. The telescope has a history of major cost overruns and delays due to backlashes from people and lack of funds.

Nevertheless, JWST launched on December 25, 2021 in Ariane 5 rocket from NASA Goddard Space Flight Centre, French Guiana. this orbiting infrared observatory will complement and extend the discoveries of the Hubble space telescope.

The telescope will cover a wavelength of 0.6 – 28.5 microns for the light falling from red till mid infrared wave spectrum .

Location

JWST will not orbit earth but will be move in a orbit of second Lagrange point(L2 point) which is about 1.5 million km away from the earth. The L2 point is sufficiently near to the earth allowing proper signal communication and the sun shield will prevent any infrared radiation coming from the Sun.

Sun-shield protection

For it to make observation in the infrared spectrum , it must be kept under 50K (−223.2 °C) otherwise the infrared radiation from its system , the earth , moon and sun will interfere with the data. It uses a large 5 layered tennis court sized sun-shield to block that radiation and maintains its surface temperature. the single layer is as thin as a human hair and made with polyamide films . the membranes are coated with aluminium from both sides and a silicon doped layer facing the sun. the shield can be folded 12 times to fit in the Ariane rocket .

The Honeycomb mirrors

The primary optical mirror is beryllium reflector with area 25.4 m2 . gold is used to coat all the 18 mirror segments because it is a highly reflective material for infrared wavelength. The honeycomb pattern utilizes the best use of space available and are also deployable .

Mission goals

  1. Search for galaxies formed after the big bang . It can look 13.5 billion years into the past , about 400 million years after the big bang.
  2. How galaxies evolve.
  3. Observe the formation of stars.
  4. Measure physical and chemical properties of the planetary systems including the Solar System.

This mission will take the Space Science to the next level, thanks to our Scientists……
