For a rapist, rape is just a mere word but for the victim, it costs his/her life. We live in a country where it takes many years to punish the rapist. In our country, rape is the fourth most common crime against women. According to the stats in 2018, nearly 34000 women reported the crime of rape.
The highly publicised rape was in 2012, a girl was brutually raped by 5 men out of which 1 was a juvenile. They raped her on a moving bus and also she was beaten by rod, her boyfriend was also beaten by the rapists. The victim died on 29th december, 2012, 13 days after the crime. Justice was served to her in 2020. Nearly after 8 years, her parents suffered a lot and tried a lot and at last there efforts were worth it.
There are many kinds of rape like marital rape, date rape, gang rape, custodial rape, rape of children, statutory rape, prison rape, serial rape, and etc.
In our country, a rapist can walk freely because nearly 4-5 years after the crime he gets punishment till then, he walks freely. And a victim dies everyday, he/she suffers pain each and every second.
In the end I just want to say that please give punishment to the rapist as soon as possible. And also make India a safer one, for the women.
