Plant nutrition

Intake of nutrients into the body by an organism is called nutrition. All the nutrients required by organisms are obtained through the food they consume.Plants use inorganic minerals for nutrition. Complex interactions involving weathering of rock minerals, decaying organic matter, animals, and microbes take place to form inorganic minerals in soil. Roots absorb mineral nutrients as ions in soil water.

Organisms differ in their modes of nutrition. There are mainly two modes of nutrition.

⚫ Autotrophic nutrition

⚫ Heterotrophic nutrition

⚫ Autotrophic nutrition

In autotrophic nutrition, the organism synthesizes its own food.Organisms which are able to synthesize their own food materials are called autotrophs. They convert carbondioxide and water into various organic compounds with the help of energy.Depending on how the plants obtain energy for converting Carbondioxide to organic compounds, they are classified as:

⭐ photo autotrophs

⭐chemo autotrophs

⭐ Photo autotrophs

All green plants are photo autotrophs. These are organisms which use energy from sunlight for the synthesis of food.Examples also include some bacteria like green sulphur bacteria, purple Sulphur bacteria.

⭐Chemo autotrophs

Organisms which use chemical energy for the synthesis of carbon compounds are called chemo autotrophs. They get energy by oxidizing simple inorganic compounds such as hydrogen, sulphur containing compounds, hydrogen sulphide and ammonia.E.g.Nitrosomonas bacteria.

⚫ Heterotrophic nutrition

Some organisms cannot synthesize their own food. They depend on other organisms for their food directly or indirectly.Organisms which are not able to synthesize their own food are called Heterotrophs.

Heterotrophic nutrition is of two types:

⭐ Saprophytic nutrition

⭐Parasitic nutrition

⭐ Saprophytic nutrition

Plants which obtain nutrition from dead or non living organic matter are called Saprophytes.e.g.monotropa

⭐ Parasitic nutrition

In parasitic nutrition,an organism derives its food from the body of other living organism(host). These plants are called parasitic plants. They have special structures which penetrate the host and absorb food, water and minerals. These special structures are called haustoria.eg:cuscuta

⭐ Symbiotic nutrition

When two organisms live together, they exchange nutrients and are benefited mutually.Such type of nutrition is called Symbiotic nutrition and the organisms are called symbiots.e.g.Rhizobium

TEACHER’S DAY

Celebrating Teacher’s day at school is one of the finest memories from the school days. With no doubt, we can say everyone will agree with it.

Teachers’ Day is celebrated to honour the memory of India’s first Vice President and to commemorate the importance of teachers in our lives.

The idea of celebrating Teachers’ Day took root in many countries during the 19th century; in most cases, they celebrate a local educator or an important milestone in education.

Why We Celebrate Teachers Day On 5th September?
5th September is the birth anniversary of a great teacher Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a staunch believer of education and was a well-known diplomat, scholar, the President of India and above all, a teacher.

Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan ( 5 September 1888 – 17 April 1975) was an Indian academic, professor, philosopher, and politician who served as the first Vice President of India (1952–1962) and the second President of India (1962–1967).

What is education according to Radhakrishnan?
Education, according to Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, is acquiring of knowledge beyond what is academic and professional. Education is the assimilation of values and ideas for character building and preparing to face life’s challenges.

A life of joy and happiness is possible only on the basis of knowledge and science.”

17 July 2021- What is celebrated today!

1)World Day For International Justice Day

2)Toss Away the “Could Haves And Should Haves Day

3)World Emoji Day

4)National Lottery Day

5)National Tattoo Day

1-World Day for international day 2021:

Also known as International Criminal Justice Day or International Justice Day. This day is celebrated in order to recognize and encourage the growth of the emerging systems of international criminal justice and protect basic human rights around the globe. To spread awareness about injustice happening around, emphasizing human rights, to laud, and support the growth of ICC.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) was adopted at a diplomatic conference in Rome, Italy on 17 July 1998. On 1 June 2010, at the review conference held in Kampala (Uganda), the Assembly of Parties decided to celebrate 17 July as the Day of International Criminal Justice

2) Toss Away the “Could Haves And Should Haves” Day

On the third Saturday in July, Toss Away the “Could Haves” and “Should Haves” Day is celebrated in America. This day is celebrated in order to encourage people to let go of the guilt for what they could/should have done. To let go of regrets and turn a new leaf. To learn from the past and begin an afresh journey with a clean slate (plus experiences that will help us sustain better).
Accept that you cannot change the past, accept every act you did, and move forward knowing you acknowledge them and you will believe in yourself to achieve the goals you wish.

3) World Emoji Day

We use emojis to expresses emotions, feelings, or messages which we can’t put into words. Emojis make our communication easier and more vibrant. In 1999, the first emoji was created by a Japanese engineer, Shigetaka Kurita, who worked in a mobile operating company. He created 176 emojis for the release of an integrated service i-mode.
In 2010, Unicode approved the usage of emojis.

Fun fact: The calendar emoji Depicts the date July 17 to celebrate its existence.

Jeremy Burge, the founder of Emojipedia, declared 17 July as the World Emoji Day in 2014.

4) World Lottery Day

Lotteries are believed to have come into existence since the 15th century. They were mainly used to help economically weaker sections by providing them food and clothes. It was also used to fund the defense forces. Although in present times, it is banned and illegal in some places. Others have their stakes high.
Massachusetts State Lottery founded National Lottery Day in 2018.
This day is used to encourage this sector and to give special offers to mark its origin.

5) National Tattoo Day

The word “tattoo” is derived from the Polynesian language for tatau, which means “to tap or to mark.”  A tattoo is a form of art wherein we mark our treasured moments or quotes to remember.
We can consider tattoos as an individual’s self-expression and sometimes tells you things that matter to the person who adorns them.
The culture of body ink dates back to Egyptian and ice mummies which reveals several forms of symbols and status.
Although the history of celebrating Tattoo day is unclear, it is being officially celebrated since 2016

Remains of the day

Introduction: In this article, I’ll be examining the ideas of dignity, loyalty and nobility that the novel explores.

The novel Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro is a reflective novel. It explores many themes but the one I am going to elaborate about is the theme of dignity, loyalty and nobility. In this novel, the tone is controlled, the language is carefully crafted, and the themes revolve around the position of the individual within a society. The story takes place in July 1956, the same month and year as the Suez Crisis. The novel portrays the decline of the aristocracy and of the practice of keeping a large staff of house servants on English estates. It is staged alongside the histories of Great Britain and Europe in the years preceding and following World War II.
In the novel, the first person narrator, Stevens is a butler on the verge of retirement who takes on a journey to meet his former coworker, Miss Kenton. He also tries to come into terms with his past by remembering the time he spent in Darlington hall.

Idea of dignity:
Stevens’s Idea of dignity is one of the central themes of the novel. Stevens’s definition of dignity is quite different from that of the usual meaning. On one hand where dignity is referred to as being honourable and worthy, Stevens Idea is to completely suppress his emotions which leads to him losing Miss Kenton forever. To him, this kind of ‘dignity’ is the highest Ideal. He believes to be a great butler, one needs to have dignity which one can strive for throughout their career. He believes in professionalism which cannot be compromised at any cost and that’s what makes a great butler, but also adds that the ‘lesser butlers’ who don’t understand dignity will be swayed by the luxuries and etc and forget their professionalism. The fact that his idea of dignity is so misguided is sad because we are aware that he has always wanted great things from life but fails to take the right path in order to achieve his goals.
Stevens Idea of dignity is to follow all orders even if one doesn’t agree with it. For instance, Lord Darlington had ordered all the Jews to be stripped from their post and even though Stevens felt that it was an atrocious step to take, he still believed that following that order would be the right thing to do as he is a dignified professional. He knew that it was wrong and yet carried out because of blind loyalty.

Theme of loyalty:
We can see the theme of loyalty in Stevens by witnessing the way he always followed his employers orders even though he knew some were wrong. Mr. Stevens is so ingrained in his job to please his employer he almost becomes detached from his own self and becomes an extension of Lord Darlington. People always mentioned that his blind loyalty was like being a slave to Lord Darlington but he refused to believe all of it as he thought he was just being loyal to his employer. Stevens makes great sacrifices to dedicate his life to his understanding of dignity and professionalism. We can also see how his choice to blindly be loyal to Lord Darlington takes a toll on him and he breaks down in front of a stranger as he cannot even state that the mistakes were his but he is aware that it’s his employers which makes him a bit sad. It was clear that Lord Darlington sympathised with the Nazis and was Hitler’s pawn in a diplomatic game to influence the British government. Even after being aware of this fact, Stevens remained loyal and stated that Lord Darlington was not a bad man but was just a victim to politics.
Stevens says that Lord Darlington was a courageous man. He chose a path in his life which he thought was right and even though it was a misguided one, he chose it for himself. He says, that’s something he can never say about himself. He always followed orders and did what was expected of him and due to that his personal life was lost. The blind loyalty makes him wonder about his life choices.

Theme of nobility:
We can also see the theme of nobility in the novel. His role as a servant is fixed within the hierarchy of social classes left over from the Victorian and Edwardian eras. As a butler, his duty demands to be loyal to Lord Darlington. He followed his fathers footsteps who was also a butler as it was a tradition of service without families. His position and duties as a butler are defined by the rules and customs that bind the servant class. The class conditions under which Stevens serve are rigid. It says that marriage interferes with service and If one is interested in marriage, they have to first quit the job and Stevens always strives to meet these standards. Later in life he realises that it was a grave mistake and he should’ve just followed his heart.

INTERPLANETARY SUPERHIGHWAY- Dream Vs Reality

A “freeway” of dream vs reality ; dream its a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person’s mind during sleep. Actually dreams are Follow your heart and chase your dreams until you catch them. Negative people who say you can’t do anything are only speaking for themselves. The distance between your dreams and reality is actions….

So many of your dreams , first seem impossible, then they seem improbable and then, when we summon the will , they soon become inevitable.. A dream doesn’t become reality through magic ; it takes sweat , determination and hard work. Always remember , you have within you the Strength , the Patience , And the Passion to reach the final step of your dream. There is, no other substitute for hard work

WHAT IF LIKE DREAMS ARE REALITY AND REALITY ARE JUST DREAMS AND YOU DIE YOU WAKE UP????????? Never be afraid , if you are, on your Dream mission. Never give up because , WAKE UP ….! You are not in movie, this is life get back to reality . live for your dreams. Believe you can , & you’re Halfway there.

Software Development through – Incremental Model

What is Incremental Model ?

The incremental model uses the “Linear and Parallel” process flow, uses linear sequential flow like waterfall model to develop working release of software.

Situation Where Incremental Model is Useful:

When customer needs limited set of features and functionalities quickly and then they want enhancement in functions in later releases of the software, then incremental model is useful.

Flow

Each linear sequence produces a deliverable “increment” of the software.
It should be noted that the process flow for any increment can uses the prototyping paradigm.
When incremental model is used, the first increment is often the core product (that is only basic requirements are implemented), the next increments are modifications of the core product.

Advantages:

This model is useful when staff required is unavailable.
This model is useful to handle technical risk.
Provide better support for process iteration.
Reduces rework in the software construction process.
Some decisions on requirements may be delayed.
Allow early delivery of parts of the system.
Support easier integration of sub-systems.
Risk of project failure is low.

Disadvantages:

Increments need be relatively small
Needs good planning and design.
Needs a clear and complete definition of the whole system before it can be broken down and built incrementally.
Mapping of requirements to increments may not be easy.
Total cost is higher than waterfall

Conclusion

This model provides better support for iteration and the phases in this model goes on linearly as well as parallelly but their may cause confusion in the output of the phases if proper and sorted planning is not done. As well as, the total cost of this model is also higher than the waterfall model so, if their is any confusion among the output of different phases it may lead to wastage of time as well as cost.

Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most frequent invasive cancer in women, and after lung cancer, it is the second largest cause of cancer death in women.

Breast cancer can start in a variety of places in the breast. Lobules, ducts, and connective tissue are the three primary components of a breast. The glands that generate milk are known as lobules.

The ducts are tubes that transport milk from the breast to the nipple. Everything is held together by connective tissue, which is made up of fibrous and fatty tissue. Breast cancer usually starts in the ducts or lobules.

Breast cancer can spread to other parts of the body via blood and lymph vessels. Breast cancer is said to have metastasized when it spreads to other regions of the body.

Photo by Xenia Shtreter on Pexels.com

Since 1989, advances in breast cancer detection and treatment have drastically improved survival rates. There are more than 3.1 million breast cancer survivors in the United States, according to the American Cancer Society (ACS). A woman’s likelihood of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 38. (2.6 percent ).

According to the American Cancer Society, 268,600 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast disease in 2019 and 62,930 persons will be diagnosed with noninvasive cancer.

Breast cancer will kill 41,760 women in the United States this year, according to the American Cancer Society. Breast cancer fatality rates have been declining since 1989, thanks to breakthroughs in treatment.

The need of screening and being aware of the symptoms are both significant methods to reduce the risk. Breast cancer can afflict men in rare cases, but this article will focus on breast cancer in women. Here’s where you can learn more about breast cancer in men.

SYMTOMS OF BREAST CANCER

The initial signs of breast cancer are usually a thicker tissue area in the breast, a lump in the breast, or a lump in the armpit.

1)Other signs and symptoms include:

2)Armpit or breast soreness that doesn’t go away with the monthly cycle

3)Pitting or redness of the breast skin, resembling the surface of an orange

4)A rash on one of the nipples or around it

5)A nipple discharge, potentially including blood

6)A nipple that is sunken or inverted

7)A change in the breast’s size or shape

8)The skin on your face is peeling, flaking, or scaling.

The size of the tumour and whether it has spread to lymph nodes or other regions of the body are used to classify cancer.

Breast cancer can be staged in a variety of ways. From stage 0 through 4, with subdivided categories at each numbered level, is one way.

The four basic stages are described here, while the precise substage of a cancer may be determined by other tumor characteristics, such as the presence of the HER2 receptor.

CAUSES OF BREAST CANCER

Fat, connective tissue, and thousands of lobules make up a woman’s breast after puberty. Breastfeeding milk is produced by these small glands. Milk travels to the nipple through tiny tubes called ducts.

Cancer produces uncontrollable cell proliferation. They do not die at the expected time in their lives.

Because the tumour consumes nutrition and energy, it deprives the cells around it, resulting in cancer.

Breast cancer is most commonly found in the inner lining of milk ducts or the lobules that provide milk to them. It can then spread to other areas of the body.

Photo by SHVETS production on Pexels.com

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF BREAST CANCER

Ductal carcinoma is the most prevalent type of cancer that starts in the milk duct.
Lobular carcinoma is a type of cancer that begins in the lobules.

When cancer cells burst out from inside the lobules or ducts and invade adjacent tissue, it is called invasive breast cancer. This makes it more likely for cancer to spread to other places of the body.

Noninvasive breast cancer occurs when the cancer has not migrated beyond its original location. However, these cells can proceed to aggressive breast cancer in some cases.

It is impossible to avoid breast cancer. Certain lifestyle choices, on the other hand, can greatly reduce the risk of breast cancer and other cancers.

These are some of them:

limiting your alcohol consumption

following a nutritious diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables

obtaining enough physical activity

keeping a healthy BMI (body mass index) (BMI)

Breastfeeding and the use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) after menopause should both be considered because they can increase the risk.

For women who are at a high risk of breast cancer, preventive surgery is also an option.

The Breast Cancer Healthline app connects users to an online breast cancer community where they may interact with others and receive advice and support through group discussions.

Jane Austen-A great novelist

If you have read any novel of Jane Austen, when you hear name her name what comes in your mind is her critical comments on society not harsh but smooth, and her art of characterization. How strong she depicts female characters and male characters soft. It comes to mind that she is a kind of feminist.
Jane Austen, an English novelist. She is one of the great novelists of the 19th century. She is known for her six major novels that interpret, critique, and comment upon British society at the end of the 18th century. Her writings, the way she uses biting irony, along with her realism, humor, and social commentary made her one of the great masters of English novels. Her novels are about the typical life of normal people and families.
Jane Austen died at the age of 41 on 18 July 1817. Even after two centuries of her death, her novels are still considered as best. Austen was not so much famous during her lifetime. At that time female writers were not acceptable so like many female writers she started publishing anonymously. When they were published her works were considered as fashionable but received only a few reviews. By the middle of the 19th century, her novels were admired by various members of the literary elite. They viewed their appreciation of her works as a mark of cultivation. In early 1838 her novels were being recommended on school reading lists.
After reading her novels one can find out that in her novels she depicts characters who seem familiar to her and most of the character’s chief interest was matrimony. She, in her novels, presents criticism of rural society around her and it seems that she confines herself to the middle-class society.
Mainly the themes of the novels of Jane Austen are love and marriage. In her novel “Pride and Prejudice” the opening line says “It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife” this is one of the best opening lines of English literature which shows Jane Austen’s satirical comment on society. In her novels, a young woman falls in love with a rich and desirable man. And after all the difficulties faced by the female protagonists, everything ends very well.
The most interesting and praiseworthy thing in the novels of Jane Austen is her art of characterization. She creates living characters, minutely portrayed and well described. In her novels, males are soft than female characters. The female characters especially protagonists of novels are so bold and perfect. The way she used to present female characters, females from the 21st century can learn a lot. This shows how she imagines at that time about the freedom and rights of females. Hence, we can say that she feminized an English novel. Her most memorable characters like Darcy Elizabeth, Emma and John Thrope, etc.
Name of her famous novels
1811 – Sense and Sensibility
1813 – Pride and Prejudice
1814 – Mansfield Park
1815 – Emma
1818 – Northanger Abbey (posthumous)
1818 – Persuasion (posthumous)

Software Development through – Waterfall Model

What is a Waterfall Model ?

It is also known as the “Classic Life Cycle” model, follows the “Systematic, Sequential “approach of software development.

Situation Where Waterfall Model is Useful:

-When customer wants enhancement or adaptation in already existing software which is well developed then we can use waterfall model.
-Ex. Changes in the Accounting software because of the changes in the rules by government.
-Waterfall Model is also used to develop new software when requirements are completely understood and stable (will not change in the future).

Phases

  1. Communication:

Heavy communication and collaboration with stakeholders-to gather information and requirement of software and to define features and functions of software.

2. Planning:

Defines – schedule of the project, role of each team member, estimation of cost, deadlines or delivery dates of the working modules, what technical task to be performed, risk that can be occurred, and priorities of each module.

3. Modeling:

Design model of software is created to understand the requirements, features and functions of the software.

4. Construction:

Combination of code generation and testing.

5. Deployment:

Software is delivered to the customer, On the basis of the feedback from the customer, software development team makes changes to the software for better quality.

Advantages

•Systematic and Organized approach provides clear separation between different phases of software development.
•This model is simple and easy to understand and use.
•It is easy to manage due to the rigidity of the model – each phase has specific deliverable and a review process.
•In this model phases are processed and completed one at a time. Phases do not overlap.

Disadvantages

•Real projects rarely follows the sequential flow that waterfall model suggests.
•All real projects follow iterative approach indirectly. As a result of this, it causes the confusion among team members when the proceeds.
•It is difficult for the customer to state all the requirements at the beginning of the project.
•A working version of the product is available only late.
•So if there any bug in the software it becomes visible at late which is very dangerous.
•Waterfall Model has a problem of “Blocking States” means some team members has to wait for other team members to complete their dependent work.

Conclusion

Waterfall model is a perspective process model and it’s basically a classic model in which each phase is very sorted and separate from each other so,no confusion occurs but it is not suitable for the changing needs of the Industry as their are tremendous trends coming in the software industry which requires an advanced process of software development with fully defined phases. So, it is suitable for the freshers but they have to adapt and switch to the newer software development techniques.
