How One Person Helped save around 2,500 children from the Nazis

Irena Sendler - Wikipedia

Irena Sendler daughter of Dr Staninslaw a physician and his wife Janina. Her father died from typhus contracted from the patients he was treating, mainly Jews whom other physicians had rejected.

She, later on, went to study at the University of Warsaw and was suspended shortly afterwards because of her public protests.

Her most dangerous and valuable possession was the glass jar which contained names of over 2000 children whom she had smuggled to safety. Her entire life was that glass jar.

When the Nazis had invaded Poland, they made further laws that eroded Jewish rights. Hitler forced the Jews into just one square mile of land. They were subjected to constant surveillance and the families eventually became sick and starving.

Sendler and her colleagues secured passes into the Ghetto and claimed to be checking for typhus outbreaks. They tried to smuggle food and medicines to the people with the help of the Polish. But the scenario was different inside. People were desperate to help their children escape through sewage and over fences.

It was when Irena and her group of 10 realized that they had to change their plan of action. They developed rescue missions –

  1. Make use of an ambulance to take a child out hidden underneath the stretcher.
  2. Escape through the courthouse or church.
  3. Children could escape through the sewer pipes and other underground passages.
  4. A trolley was used to aid in carrying out a child in a sac, suitcase, coffin etc.
  5. If a child pretends to be very ill – he could be legally removed using an ambulance.

The children were sent to convents, foster families and orphanages.

The names of all these children were written down on cigarette papers and stored in glass jars.

The police captured Sendler but her records remained safe. She was repeatedly tortured and finally sent to be executed. But the German officer diverted her course as he was paid a lump sum amount for her release.

She continued her mission of smuggling children out of the Ghetto camps till the defeat of the Nazi’s in 1945.

Irena was awarded for Valor and Courage in 2003.

Things one must know before starting college

Excited about starting college but slightly nervous too? Well keeping that in mind I’ve written an article addressing the very topic.

Starting college is like entering a whole new world and there’s so much to think about:

  1. Will I make friends?
  2. What Major should I pick?
  3. How will I juggle everything?
  4. What should I bring?

And, lot’s more.

That’s why I’ve created this list of things you need to know before you (or your child ) start college. Let’s get started!

1. What to Take With You to College

(You can skip this if you are living off-campus – but it’s still good to read.)

For most students, going to college is the first time they live away from home. So, the question is, What do you take with you when moving into a dorm?

Before deciding…Get in touch with your college and ask for their approved and prohibited items checklist. Every college will have one and each college will have slightly different guidelines. Some colleges won’t even allow a power strip! So…make sure you contact them before spending money on things like mini-fridges. Another thing to consider is space. Freshmen tend to underestimate how much space they need, and dorm storage space is notoriously less than it seems at first(quick tip – find out the exact dorm room dimensions and measure any larger items you want to take figure out how much will fit –good to know before showing up in a U-Haul!).

A good rule of thumb is just only to take what’s necessary:

  • Comfortable clothing for class.
  • A formal outfit & shoes for special occasions and job hunting
  • Laptop & phone (obviously)
  • Bathroom supplies
  • Bedding (sheets, pillows, blanket)
  • School supplies i.e. pens, rulers, calculators, sticky notes, etc.
  • Eye mask, earplugs, and pain medication (just trust me)
  • Of course, there’s more, but these are the essentials.

Many students wonder if you can bring your car to campus. This is something you will need to check with your college. Some allow cars; others don’t.

Talking about transportation ….

2. Things to Do On And Off Campus

Think about what you would like to do with your spare time (and how you will get there). College campuses and their surrounding areas are packed with things to do. Almost every college has plenty of clubs, events, and activities on offer for students. So…when you’re on the phone with the college and asking about what things you can take with you, make sure to find out about things to do on and off-campus. You will also want to get off campus now and then. Do google maps search using the college’s address to find out what there is to do out and about the college.

For example, you could search for:

  • Starbucks near [college name]
  • Restaurants near [college name]
  • Movie theatres near [college name]
  • Comic Conventions near [college name]

And so on…These kinds of places know that students love their products and services. So chances are they will be located around the college.

Then…you need to know how to get there! Once you know where you want to go, make sure that you come up with an idea of how you can get there by bus, train or bicycle (if you have one). Knowing how much it costs to get where you want to go is also an important element in making your weekly budget.

3. What Classes You Will Take

Maybe you have already chosen your Major, maybe you haven’t. Either way: If you look around the room on the first day of college, statistically up to half of them haven’t chosen their major either. Even then…Two-thirds of all college students who have picked their major, change it at least once before graduation. Having said that: You should look into which classes you will be attending in your first semester. Because you will need to prepare beforehand. You will need to buy books for example. However, don’t order them just yet, we’ll give you a few tips about saving money on books later. More importantly…Did you know that you forget almost 82% of what you learn in a class within 28 days? And after graduating from high school, students often have three or four months before starting class again.

This is a great way for students to relax after the stress of their final year of high school but the problem is that because of a natural memory drain, getting back into the flow of studying again can be stressful and overwhelming. That’s why we suggest taking a few pre-college tutoring classes based on classes you will have during the first and second semesters. That way you can hit the ground running with one less thing to worry about when starting college.

4. How to Improve Your Memorization

College can be challenging. There is so much to learn and topics you have never studied before. And…Like I said in the last section: The average person loses 82% of what they learn within 3-4 weeks, while a typical college semester is fifteen weeks long. This means that by the end of the semester: When it’s time for exams, you will only remember 18% of what you learned in the first two-thirds of the semester! Frustrating, right? So, I’m going to share three memory tips that will help you retain much more of your course content and while having fun doing it:

Tip 1. Find Your Why

Think about why you want to study your subjects. If you are just learning to pass an exam, chances are you will forget everything the next day. When you want to learn, you need to have a strong (emotional) motivation. Just tapping into a desire to learn something will increase your memory retention and learning abilities. For example:

Those who want to be doctors are more likely to have an active interest in topics like biology or chemistry and therefore find it easier to remember key facts and information from those classes. What is your end goal? Find something you want to achieve and connect it with your academic success. Once you find your own key motivation for studying, everything becomes easier to learn and remember.

Tip 2. Learn Use Mnemonic Devices

Mnemonic devices are ageless proven tricks to help you remember almost anything more easily. And…Many of the techniques have been around for thousands of years. So what does a Mnemonic device look like? They are simply different methods to help you remember specific chunks of information. Here’s an example:

This mnemonic device helps you to memorize the first 10 elements and their position.

“Henry Hester Likes Beer But Can Not Obtain Food Now”

Just by remembering this line, you are able to remember each of the first 10 elements and their position in the list:

  • Henry – Hydrogen
  • Hester – Helium
  • Likes – Lithium
  • Beer – Beryllium
  • But – Boron
  • Can – Carbon
  • Not – Nitrogen
  • Obtain – Oxygen
  • Food – Fluorine
  • Now – Neon

See how each word represents an element in its position? This is a type of mnemonic device. Our brains find it easier to remember a storyline or a structured sentence rather than a list of random names of elements. You can use Mnemonic devices to memorize nearly anything. The more you practice the easier it gets, too. And…If you practice these tricks often, studying for any exam will become a breeze.

Lastly:

Tip 3. Use Regular review

The best way to move something from your short-term memory banks to your long-term memory banks is to repeat it a few times.

So, schedule some time every week to review your class notes from the semester. Don’t just review what you learned that week. Review what you learned 2,3,4 weeks ago as well. Another extra trick here is to practise recalling the information out of sequence. This cements the info even further into your brain.

5. How to Take Notes Like a Boss

Notetaking is one of the best ways to help you learn faster, as long as you read them – see the previous chapter.

Here are some of our top notetaking tips to become a note-taking pro.

  1. Be prepared. Look over the upcoming class’ outline and slides if available to get an initial picture of the lesson to come.
  2. Use your notetaking to summarize, not transcribe. Focus on recognizing key concepts (often indicated in the class slides).
  3. Practice your listening skills. Learn to Identify the most important snippets of information and forget the rest. Create a few notes on the big picture, then pinpoint “subheadings” underneath with brief, key information under each.
  4. If the lecturer is going too fast for you, take a photo of the slides or board notes with your phone for later review. (Check first whether your faculty allows this)

Recognizing Key Topics

Wondering how to identify key information in a lecture? Here are a few things to listen out for which suggest what your professor feels is key information:

  • Introductory comments outlining the class topic
  • Repeated phrases or information.
  • Auditory changes such as verbal emphasis or change in speech pattern.
  • Verbal cues indicating something to be important.
  • Final remarks in the form of a summary or review of the lecture’s main idea.

Evidence: Noah’s Ark is Real

Evidence: Noah’s Ark is Real

Have you ever heard of the great flood that occurred in the time of Noah? It was the first time the world had seen rain let alone a Flood. Noah was the family chosen and instructed by God to build an Ark. He was to take along with his family every living creature on land in pairs so that they would be able to reproduce and fill the earth once again when the flood recedes.

I’m almost certain that it has always left us wondering however did Noah get all those animals inside? Did he have enough food to feed his family and the animals and much more?

Ark Encounter presents a theme park in Grant County, Kentucky. It represents Noah’s Ark based on Genesis in the Bible.

To answer all your doubts and questions, keep scrolling down and you might even be surprised.

Construction

It is 510 feet long, 85 feet wide and 51 feet high; yes it is massive. People who have gone to visit the architectural marvel have stated that going into the Ark had changed their whole perspective.

The first floor has cages for animals of every size. The builders and architects researched and built the structures, cages, the feeding system, the waste collection etc. based on how the things were made back then – right from the designing to the locking system.

Now if you might think that people of the olden age were not smart and could barely make a few huts and pots with stones and clay; you are wrong! They had much knowledge and techniques incorporated into their constructions. And the Ark is an example of that.

Most of the time we find in Bible stories for kids the Giraffe’s head popping out through the windows of the ark. The Ark Encounter proves that that never happened and everyone had enough room inside no matter how long or tall they were.

One could say that Noah put good thought into considering for the animals entrusted to him. He needed to keep them safe and secure through those tough times.

How did Noah manage to bring millions of species into the boat that we see today?

Now before we go into that, let us look at what the Bible says. In Genesis God commands Noah to take animals in pairs of each ‘kind’.

Species as we see now does not mean the kind that God was referring to. If you look at the classification : Division -> Class -> Order -> Family -> Genus -> Species, this category of species is what we witness now. But initially, when Noah took in the animals there wasn’t a category of species.

Instead ‘kind’ meant Family. This is the key point.

Like if you take the ‘dog kind’ you would have wolves, coyotes, dogs, etc. and the cat kind meaning cheetah, leopard, lion, tire etc.

And if you look at it, evolution only started after the flood. Hence the cat kind that Noah had given shelter to in the Ark gave rise to the tigers, lions, cheetahs that you see now.

So Noah had to only take in a pair of each kind which actually meant that there were just enough animals living at that time which could fit into Noah’s Ark.

The animals that were on the ark wouldn’t be the same as what we see today because they have evolved and you can find a plethora of species around you.

Does this change your perspective on the event that happened many years ago? This one model of the Ark has opened doors for understanding and believing.

Honor Killings in India.

Honor killing is an act of murder by the members of the family. This crime usually takes place when two consenting adults marry or want to marry each other but do not belong to the same religion, caste or gotra. Such marriages bring dishonor to the family and hence their family members punish them or sometimes due to the pressure from society.

Majorly in the Rural regions, villages are very homogenous. No one is supposed to break the laws/norms of society. If anyone dares to- suffers the punishment that is decided by the villagers or the panchayat. Many a time, this punishment is murder. The family also has to face punishment in the form of a social boycott or many times- eviction from the village. In such a situation, the need to removes the family’s dishonor is palpable. Thus, the family members of these consenting adults kill them. According to the official records, the cases of honor killings are not too many but in reality, every year there are more than 10,000 such killings. Normally, if a person goes missing, the family is the one who runs to the police station but in case of killings related to honor, the family members are themselves the perpetrators. Besides, the villagers also do not report this as according to them, this itself is the ‘justice’. On the contrary, such killings are reported by the relatives as ‘suicides’, with family members destroying evidence. Usually, females are more likely to be subjected to suck killings as compared to their male counterparts. According to a report, women constitute 90%+ of the honor killings.

The prime factor of the crime is that the majority of caste members do not accept inter-caste marriages on the pretext of maintaining the decorum of their caste or the status of their family in society. The crime of honor killing is increasing at a high pace due to the complex socio-cultural problems. To restore the honor and respect lost due to the inter-caste love marriage

In 2012, the Law Commission submitted a report outlining a unique legal framework for dealing with honor killings. The Prohibition of Interference with the Freedom of Matrimonial Alliances Bill was aimed at curbing activities and behaviors associated with honor crimes by criminalizing, for example, the unlawful assembly of groups of people for the purpose of condemning a marriage, and criminal intimidation of a couple. It also recommended punishments, protection measures for vulnerable couples, and counseling and legal awareness for couples. Sadly, this Bill was not brought up by an MP in Parliament.

Honor killing happened in the area where the sex ratio is lower and girls are bought for marriages because of a large disparity in the sex ratio, causing the difference in sex ratio to increase. Illiteracy and lack of awareness of rights to freedom and constitutional rights to safeguard their protection from exploitation are the primary reason for the rising of crimes.

Khap Panchayats:

Khap panchayats are gatherings impersonating courts, presided over by the caste leaders. These leaders are the judges of these illegitimate courts. Just as legitimate judges pass judgments according to the Indian constitution, these panchayat leaders give judgments in accordance with the village and societal norms and rules. Marrying outside the caste or religion is not allowed as per these so-called societal norms and such couples are hence eligible for punishment. The khap leaders hold supremacy within their cast as custodians of honor. Khap panchayats often nullify marriages that are inter-caste and inter-religion and also separate such married couples. In March 2018, the Supreme Court of India declared illegal any attempt by Khap panchayats to end a marriage between consenting adults. But even today, khaps fearlessly continue to nullify marriages and sentence death to eloped couples.

Love yourself but don’t Hate others.

Love Yourself, is word that tells a person about loving himself. The ones who have nothing but themselves or those who don’t have a support system to lean on, It provides them confidence of being able to have themselves. But is it all that it does. The concept of love yourself has been around for quite a time but it became more evident to everyone after the campaign,’ Love Yourself.’

BTS

The campaign was launched by BTS, a South Korean Band or a K-POP band. The group has gained recognition from their Album, Wings. Prior to this they have released several albums but they were not as successful as this one. After that BTS released Love Yourself. This album also was very successful and lead the campaign for Love Yourself. The campaign is still going in and gave the band a chance to present a speech at UN.

But there are not only positive outcomes of a thing. If it had a 9 good impact then it certainly an have 1 impact that would ruin the whole thing. Many of the fans who watched and followed the campaign turned out to love them so much that they started being offended on little things.

I have seen videos where they just blur out anything to all those who do not like BTS or does not follow them. They also start telling everyone about it and its just irritating for some people.

Now you must be thinking, all of sudden but it has a reason. I saw a video titled Reply to army’s( BTS’s fandom name) parents. The video said about how the parents hate her for watching BTS and wanting to be a K pop Star. And this is not acceptable. Parents don’t like the stuff their children do all the time and they do say stuff like why you watch this and say you just have to do this all day. But that does not mean that they hate you.

BTS

These people need to understand that not everyone out there is against someone. And about BTS they’ don’t know anything except that you spend your whole time watching them so it will be problematic to them. And they will say stuff to you but it does not turns them in someone who hates you. so i would like to request all of you to stop doing it and stop making things like BTS is making you hate your parents.

Thank you for reading abd don’t forget to tell what do you think about this in the commnents.

Mirabai Chanu – The Real Struggler | Tokyo Olympics 2021

Hello, friends! There’s amazing news for all of us. That, in the ongoing Tokyo Olympic games, India has won a medal on the very first day! Indian weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu won the Silver medal in weightlifting.

And even if for a short while, India was among the top 3 in the Olympic Rank List. It was historic! In this article, let’s get to know about her win. And her super-inspiring story. Mirabai was the only Indian weightlifter in this Olympics. She has won in the Women’s 49kg category.

She got the Silver medal. And the Gold medal in the same category went to China’s weightlifter Hou Zhihui. And an Indonesian weightlifter was at the third position, winning the Bronze medal. Hou Zhihui and Mirabai. It was said that both of them had a good chance of winning. Because Hou Zhihui was at Rank worldwide. And Mirabai was at Rank.

In April this year, in the Asian Championship both weightlifters had created world records. Hou won the Gold medal with a total score of 213 kg. Mirabai had also broken the existing world record in the clean and jerk segment with 119 kg. What does the Clean and Jerk segment mean? Let’s understand a little about this sport. It’s very interesting to know. The more you understand about this sport, the more will you be interested in it. The concept of weightlifting is simple at first glance.

There’s a steel barbell. With rubber weights on both sides. The person that can lift the most weight will be the winner of this game. But there can be two methods of lifting the weights. And these two methods are the two segments of the game.

The first segment is the Snatch. The weights need to be lifted above the head from the ground in a single motion. Somewhat like this. When the snatch segment of all the athletes is over, then there is a short break. And then comes the other segment. That’s called the Clean and Jerk segment. In it, the weights don’t need to be lifted in a single motion. Instead, the weights are lifted to the chest level first and then in the next motion, the weights are lifted from the chest to above the head.

Obviously, because it’s being broken down into two motions it is possible to lift heavier weights in this segment for any athlete as compared to that in the snatch segment. In both segments, the lifter has to stand up straight with the weights. Otherwise, they lose their attempt. And how many attempts do they get?

They get three attempts in both segments. The best attempt among the three, is counted towards the final score. And they get only 1 minute in each attempt. And then score in the best performance in snatch and the best performance in clean and jerk, both scores are added up. And the total score of the weightlifter is calculated. And the weightlifter that has the highest total score, is then declared the winner.

For this game, the weightlifters need to decide the weight that they would attempt to lift. If we talk about Mirabai’s performance in this game, then, she tried to lift 84 kg in the first attempt in the snatch segment. She was successful at it.

In the second attempt, she tried to lift 87 kg. And she was successful at it too. And then she tried to lift 89 kg in the third attempt. But she failed at that. Since her best attempt was at 87 kg, it was considered. In the clean and jerk segment, she lifted 110 kg successfully in the first attempt.

And then she lifted 115 kg. And in the third attempt, she tried to lift 117 kg. But she couldn’t do it. Her best attempt was at 115 kg in this segment. And her final score was, 87 kg + 115 kg. Her total score was 202 kg.

On the other hand, gold medal winner Hou Zhihui’s score was 94 kg in the snatch segment. 116 kg in the clean and jerk segment. Which landed the total at 210 kg. All three scores were World Records. So it was a brilliant game.

If we talk about the past, Mirabai is only the second Indian athlete to have won a medal at weightlifting. Before this, in the year 2000, when the Olympics were held in Sydney, Australia, women weightlifting was introduced then.

Here, India’s Karnam Malleswari won the Bronze medal in the 69 kg category. And she became the first woman the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in India’s history. With this, she was also the first Indian to win at weightlifting. So Mirabai is only the second Indian to win a medal at weightlifting.

She has become a new inspiration for people across the country. She dedicated her medal to the country after her win. And thanked all Indians. She gave the credit of the win to her family, especially her mother and coach Vijay Sharma

A very interesting thing to note here is, she thanked the Indian Railways as well. Because she is an athlete of the Indian Railways. Initially, She had joined the Indian Railways as Chief Ticket Inspector.

In 2018, she was promoted to the rank of officer. Her story is very inspiring, friends! Her village is 20 km from Manipur’s capital, Imphal. Nongpok Kakching.

On 8th August 1994, she was born here. In a low-income family. At home, food used to be cooked on a mud hearth. Since firewood is used to light it, she used to lift more than her elder brother since a very young age.

When they used to get the firewood, she could lift more weight than her elder brother could. In terms of the firewood. She was quite interested in sports as a child. Whenever she saw her cousins playing football, she’d think that though it’s fun to play football but the clothes get ruined. So she wanted to choose a sport where the clothes wouldn’t get dirty.

And the player could remain clean. Then she saw archery. She thought of choosing archery as a sport. Because it’s a neat, clean and stylish sport. That’s why, in 2008, when she was 13 or 14 years old, she went to Imphal with her cousin. She wanted to train at the centre of the Sports Authority of India there.

But at that time, there was no training for archery scheduled there. Then she saw a few clips of Kunjarani Devi there. She is a famous weightlifter from Manipur as well. An Indian weightlifter. She has won many medals in international competitions.

Watching her clips, she felt inspired. And she decided to train for weightlifting. There, international coach Anita Chanu introduced her to weightlifting. The training centre was around 22 km from her village. She had to reach there at 6 in the morning every day.

Not by a car, instead, by a bus! She had to change busses twice. She went to train in the morning every day. And she’d practice. She practised every day to become better. As they say, By practising regularly, a fool becomes a sage; By repeatedly rubbing a rope, even the stone gets worn down.

When water is drawn from a well, the rope repeatedly rubs on the stone and leaves its mark on the stone. Similarly, a fool, if he studies diligently, if he practises again and again and works hard, then he can become a sage as well. With hard work, Mirabai won the Silver medal at the Commonwealth Games within only 6 years. In 2014, the Commonwealth Games took place in Scotland.

She won the Silver medal there. In the Rio Olympics in 2016, she broke a 12-year old record in the National Selections tryout. When she qualified for the Olympics after breaking the record, she was considered a top contender to win a medal.

But a very unfortunate incident took place in the 2016 Olympics. She returned home with a DNF tag. That is the Did Not Finish tag. Because in the clean and jerk segment, she could not get a legitimate lift in any of the attempts. Meaning, that she hadn’t lifted properly.

So the judges disqualified her because of her wrong lifts. And there was only 1 correct lift in the snatch segment. She couldn’t stop her tears. A sport is not only a test of your physical strength. But also tests your attitude and mental strength. How much can you focus?

How much can you keep yourself motivated? It was a very challenging time for her. To return after a disgraceful loss. And to start working hard again. For the next Olympics. She didn’t lose hope. And in the 2017 World Championship in America, she won the Gold medal.

Next year, in 2018, Commonwealth Games took place in Australia. There not only did she win the Gold medal in the 48 kg category, But broke all records also. In 2018, she was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award. Everything was going well. Then life took another turn.

She got a lower back injury. She had to stay away from the game for 1 year. She made a comeback in 2019. And I already told you about the 2021 Asian Championship. And then came the Olympics. Where she won a Silver medal.

This is such an inspiring story that a Bollywood film can be made on it, literally. So many ups and downs. What do we learn from this? Any ups and downs that may come our way, we should hold onto courage.

And keep moving forward. Such inspiring stories, will motivate you, hopefully. To keep moving forward in your life. And the dreams that you want to achieve, I hope you can achieve them.

Space Tourism – Jeff Bezos vs Richard Branson vs Elon Musk

Hello everyone , Space Tourism will be possible. Like you go to other counties for a vacation from next year, you can go to space on a vacation. And most importantly, you wouldn’t need to undergo any training No need to become an astronaut to make this happen. Actually, friends, three people are making it possible.

First, billionaire Richard Branson. The owner of the Virgin Group. His space tourism company is named Virgin Galactic. Second, Jeff Bezos. The owner of Amazon. His space tourism company is named Blue Origin. And third, Elon Musk. The owner of Tesla. His space company is named SpaceX.
There was a neck-to-neck competition between the first two people to see who would be the first man in the world to go to space in their own rocket. Jeff Bezos had announced that he would do this on 20th July. After that, Richard Branson, who had originally planned to attempt this a few months later, preponed his plan.
Richard Branson attempted this a few days ago, on 11th July. With two pilots and three other crew members he got into his Unity Spacecraft.
This Spacecraft flew into the sky. And this mission was successful. Leaving Jeff Bezos behind, he became the world’s first man to go to space in his own spaceship.
It’s very interesting to get to know the technical details of this feat. Because he wasn’t in a rocket that’s launched from a launchpad. Like you normally see in films or like astronauts usually travel, in a rocket. Instead, it was a kind of an aeroplane.
You can call this aeroplane a ‘Space Plane’ because it went into space. What happened was, there is a big plane on the runway, you can call it the ‘Mother Aircraft’ this smaller Space Plane is attached to it. It’s named Unity. Initially, both planes take off from the runway together because they’re attached. And when they reach around 50,000 feet altitude, this Unity Space Plane detaches from the Mother Aircraft. And then at supersonic speed, faster than the speed of sound, it goes towards space. And when we talk about going to space here,
What it exactly means is that it was 88 km above the earth’s surface. If you look out of the window at that height, you’d get to see the curvature of the Earth. This was the view from this flight. And most interestingly, at this height, the passengers of the plane can experience weightlessness.
Like the astronauts experience it. But the unfortunate thing is that, this plane doesn’t remain at that height for long. This weightlessness can be experienced for only 4 minutes on this Virgin Galactic flight. After that, this plane starts its descend. And lands on the runway like a normal aeroplane. It takes only an hour to complete this journey. And the part from the detaching of the Space Plane, reaching the top to landing back takes only 15 minutes.
So it’s not a very long journey. We could see all the photos and videos because Richard Branson live-streamed his test flight on the internet. Another interesting thing, Among the 6 crew members, one was an Indian-born woman. This incident is historic for many reasons.
Even though, Richard Branson wasn’t the first private civilian to go to space. Dennis Tito, an American entrepreneur, had paid $20 Million to be able to sit with the astronauts in the rocket to fly to the International Space Station and stay for 8 days. But that was different. Because he was going with the astronauts in an actual rocket.
But you can think of this as a private aeroplane. For this reason, you may think that Richard Branson didn’t actually go to space. If you do, then you wouldn’t be the first person to think that. Jeff Bezos’ space company, Blue Origin, they mocked this on Twitter. They said that there will be an asterisk (*) next to Richard Branson’s name because he went up to the height of 88 km only.
When globally, most scientists believe that space actually begins at the height of 100 km. This 100 km line is known as the Karman Line. Internationally, the astronauts’ organization in European countries they believe that this line at 100 km is the official boundary between our atmosphere and space.
But in the USA, the US government and NASA believe that the boundary between the atmosphere and space starts at the height of 80 km. So in the defense of Richard Branson, it can be said that according to the US standards, he has gone into space.
But not according to the International standards. That’s why Jeff Bezos’ company mocked him. And now when Jeff Bezos will attempt to go to space on 20th July, he will try to cross this line at 100 km. The difference is very critical here. When Jeff Bezos will attempt it, it will be in the spacecraft built by his company that’s like a rocket. So he’ll go up in a rocket.
His company claims that not only will they reach beyond 100 km but also that the windows on this spacecraft will be huge. So that you can enjoy watching the Earth. But the windows on the Virgin Galactic’s spaceplane, were of the size of an aeroplane’s window and so quite small. Second, Blue Origin claim that their spacecraft will have an escape system that was missing in the Virgin Galactic’s spacecraft.
Third, they claim that their rocket will not have an environmental impact because they’ll use environment-friendly fuel. The exhaust will be only water. But in the case of Virgin Galactic, Nitrous Oxide, which is very harmful, is being released. It is very damaging to the environment. If you find stories about space to be interesting,
I’ll talk about the environmental impact at the end of the video. First, let’s talk about how expensive it will be if you want to go too. What will be the cost? The price of one ticket of the Virgin Galactic’s flight will be $250,000. In Indian currency, it’ll cost around ₹20 million – ₹25 million. (₹2 crore – ₹2.5 crores) It’s up to you whether you can afford it or not.
Our politicians can definitely afford this. 600 people have already reserved tickets for next year. There are many famous names among them. Like Justin Bieber and the actor Leonardo DiCaprio. They are expecting full commercial service by 2022.
And Richard Branson says that eventually, the price will be lowered when more people will start using it. He says that eventually, the price of the ticket may be as low as $40,000. Around ₹3 million – ₹3.5 million. (₹30 lakh – ₹35 lakh) Definitely, today it is not something that a common man can afford.
But once it starts, maybe 10 or 15 or 20 years down the line, I think that normal people will also be able to afford it. On the other hand, we don’t know the exact price of the ticket for Jeff Bezos’s spacecraft. But one ticket was auctioned in June, that was sold for $28 million.
Same with Elon Musk’s SpaceX, one ticket was auctioned that sold for $55 million. But that’s a bit different because they’re proper rockets. And it’s possible that Elon Musk’s flight may take you to the International Space Station to travel.
And the ticket cost obviously includes the training and on-flight accommodation. In the beginning when I had said that no training is required, I meant that one wouldn’t need astronaut-level training to do this.
But you’d still be given some basic training. About how you should behave in zero gravity. And what you should do in case of any emergencies. You’d obviously be told all this. Some people may be scared after knowing all this Because they’d be undertaking a new thing and going to space they may lose their lives if there is any technical problem.
So how realistic is it to be scared of it? It is very realistic. Because you’re going to space. So it hasn’t been tried out enough. If you do this next year, you’d be one of the first people to do so. So there are many risks. Even Richard Branson acknowledges this. He had revealed his intention of building a spaceplane in 2004.
He thought space tourism would be possible by 2007. But after so many problems and hurdles, one of his test flights crashed in 2014. In which some people were even killed. Now, this is finally ready in 2021. His test flight has been successful. But there are many risk factors apart from the flight crashing.
Because generally when Astronauts go into space, they are given severe training to do so. But when space tourists will go to space, they will not undergo any health checkup or fitness checkup. So we don’t know what problems they may have to face. Additionally, the impact of zero gravity on the human body, has never been studied in the long term. Because space travel is a very recent phenomenon.
Additionally, the G-force that you’d have to face, and the radiation at that level maybe quite high. These are also some factors. Though, the Federal Aviation Administration of the USA has said that the radiation that you might experience at that height will be insignificant and not a cause for worry. But looking at the other risk factors, when you’d go to do this, obviously, they will get a form signed by you like shown in the film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Before skydiving, you need to sign a liability waiver form. If there’s any harm to you, then it is your responsibility.
The company will not bear any responsibility. Now, let’s talk about the environmental impact. Many people have criticised all three billionaires on this point. That space tourism will be something that only the rich can afford. Only the top 0.1% of people. But it will lead to so much pollution and the environmental impact of this will be so large, that it is very disproportionate.
The other people will not get the opportunity to do this but the environmental impact on the Earth will have to be borne by the others as well. Talking about Virgin Galactic, the CO2 emissions in a normal flight per passenger per mile is at 0.2kg here you’d get 12 kg of CO2 emissions.
A difference of 60 times. Apart from this, Nitrous Oxide, when it’ll be released into our atmosphere, it will lead to ozone depletion. You’ve learnt in school how important the ozone layer is in our atmosphere. It protects us from the ultraviolet rays of the sun.
The second problem is that when these rockets take off from the land so much heat is generated, that the ozone levels increase at ground level. Ozone near the surface is useless. Higher in the atmosphere, it is beneficial. An increase in ozone at the ground level will be harmful to us. Losing ozone from the ozone layer will be harmful to us. And this will be the result of space tourism.
Ozone will increase near the surface and decrease from the atmosphere. In the case of Jeff Bezos too, even if no harmful gasses are emitted from his rocket, when it takes off from the ground, it will lead to a lot of heat being generated. This again leads to a threat to the ozone levels. These are some points that we’d have to remember in the near future. When space tourism will become more common. And these billionaires will have to come up with their solution.

Inequality

We all are living in 2021, do you think the society treats men and women in a equal manner? No, many of us answer would be no. Don’t you think why? Take your house as an example, does everyone in house do the household chores? No, only the girls especially the mothers.

It is totally not fair at all to make the women to getup in the middle of the meal to serve you. How cruel it is? She is also a human, she to have her own choices and she have all rights to enjoy her life.

We all are hearing different stories each day about how the society treats the girl in the worst manner, the dowry cases, inter caste marriage, acid attack, rape, harassment, abuse these are all the evidence that how the women are struggling to live the common life in this world. As the world is modern the problems are modern, I’m saying about the social media platforms, where most of the women feels insecure,

She is not your servant to fulfill your needs but a living human to fulfill her own needs. As the years passed there stood many peoples raising the voice for the equality of women but still we are fighting for the equality. A good point about that is the situation is not bad as that time but it is not ok to accept that.

Fighting all these things we can see women in the higher points, think about the road she travelled to reach the goal it is not at all the easier one. It says how determine the women should be reach it.

We should teach everyone in the society that men and women are equal, this should be done in the childhood itself so that it would create the better society in the future. This is not only with the men and women but with every human in this world should be treated equally, we all are a fellow human being who are responsible for the society, so it’s our responsibility to make the awareness, and make people understand about the equality.

“Equality is the soul of liberty; there is, in fact, no liberty without it.” – Frances Wright

“The word ‘equality’ shows up too much in our founding documents for anyone to pretend it’s not the American way.” – Martha Plimpton

“There’s nothing complicated about equality.” – Alice Paul

“I would like to be known as a person who is concerned about freedom and justice and prosperity for all people.” – Rosa Parks

How to write good blog posts?

Writing a blog post is a little like driving; you can study the highway code (or read articles telling you how to write a blog post) for months, but nothing can prepare you for the real thing like getting behind the wheel and hitting the open road. Or something.

“Wait for it… wait for it… BASS DROP.”

Now that I’m done thoroughly mangling that vague metaphor, let’s get down to business. You know you need to start blogging to grow your business, but you don’t know-how. In today’s article, I’ll show you how to write a great blog post in five simple steps that people will actually want to read. So let’s get started:-

  • Step 1- Planning
First, a disclaimer – the entire process of writing a blog post often takes more than a             couple of  hours, even if you can type eighty words per minute and your writing skills           are sharp. From the seed of the idea to finally hitting “Publish,” you might spend                   several days or maybe even a week “writing” a blog post, but it’s important to spend             those vital hours planning your post and even thinking about your post (yes, thinking             counts as working if you’re a blogger) before you actually write it.

Long before you sit down to put digital pen to paper, you need to make sure you                    have everything you need to sit down and write. Many new bloggers overlook                       the planning process, and while you might be able to get away with skipping the                  planning stage, doing your homework will actually save you time further down the                  road and help you develop good blogging habits.

  • Step 2- Writing a Great Headline

Everyone and their grandmother have an opinion about headlines. Some say you                   should be as specific as possible (to avoid misleading your readers and manage their             expectations), while others recommend taking a more abstract approach. Vague                     headlines might work just fine if you’re Barkha Dutt, but for most of us, being                       specific is better. There are two main approaches you can take to writing blog post                 headlines. You can either decide on your final headline before you write the rest of                 your post (and use your headline to structure your outline), or you can write your blog           post with a working title and see what fits when you’re done.

  • Step 3- The Writing Part

So, you’ve done your research, settled on a headline (or at least a working title), and             now you’re ready to actually write a blog post. So get to it. Similarly to headlines,                 there are two main approaches to writing a blog post. You can either sit down and                 write an entire draft in a single sitting (my preferred workflow), or you can chip away           at it gradually over time. There is no right or wrong answer here – only whatever                   works for you. However, I’d recommend getting as much done in one session as                   possible. This makes it easier to stay focused on the topic, minimizes the chance that             you’ll forget crucial points, and also lets you get the damned thing out of your hair                 faster.

  • Step 4- Using Image Effectively

Writing for the web is an entirely different animal than writing for print. Oftentimes,             people simply don’t have the time, will, or ability to focus on lengthy blog posts                   without some visual stimulation. Even a well-formatted blog post consisting solely of           text is likely to send your reader screaming back to Reddit or Twitter within minutes,             which is why it’s so important to include images in your posts.

  • Step 5- The Editing Part

Actually writing a blog post is hard. Editing a blog post is harder. Many people                     mistakenly assume that editing is simply striking through sentences that don’t work or           fixing grammatical errors. Although sentence structure and grammar are both very                 important, editing is about seeing the piece as a whole and, sometimes, being willing             to sacrifice words (and the hours it took to write them) for the sake of cohesion.

Lastly one should always express his thoughts in his blogs as the blog will reflect the writer’s personality. Follow all the points and I can bet that you’ll definitely ace at writing blogs.
