Social media is an plateform which is build that facilitates the users to create content and sharing of information, ideas, interests and different contents ,through virtual communities and networks technology.

Over the last two decades, social media has gained tremendous growth and fame. Despite the fact that almost everyone in the world is connected to at least one social media platform, youth and teens are the ones who who are using social media and are becoming so socially hampered that they even interfere their lives with social media. According to researchers, they have found that these different social media plateforms have a profound impact on the lives of our youth in society in terms of morality, behavior, and even education.

The use of social media has both negative and positive impacts on our youth today. The positive effects of social media on young people today is keeping up to date with what’s happening around the world and being able to network and stay connected with classmates and friends without physical meetings. For example, people in one city can connect and interact with friends in other cities and neighborhoods, bridging the gap between them. In addition, social media platforms allow young people to create pages and groups based on their profession, beliefs, and other aspects of life, creating more connections and more opportunities in their respective fields. This could even create more employment opportunities for unemployed youth.

According to a BBC News report, social media sites appear to continue to connect and inform more people, but it’s also causing social isolation among youths as it reduces the number of face-to-face interactions between young people, as they usually spend most of their time on these online social platforms. Analysis of many studies by various scientists has shown that social isolation can have a variety of effects on youth’s physical, emotional, mental and psychological estate which can create different problems in them. This, in turn, can lead to depression, anxiety, and many other problems. Also, using short forms and abbreviations can lead to misspellings and misuse of words and tenses. This has a direct impact on the student’s language skills and tends to adversely affect the student as it leads to poor language performance.

Also, young teens under the age of 18 can be exposed to online content that may not be appropriate for their age. Social media often introduce these teens to pornographic content which may be shared on online social groups and this may mislead them . The morals of these teenagers are also manipulated because they are granted access to immoral literature and video. This can harm their phycology of seeing things differently in life.

The social media can be used effectively by youth as long hours on social media can be devoted to productive activities that enable people to grow, earn a living, and be educated, such as using online tutorials and online research materials.
Social media may harm ones creativity and also can reduces the productivity of teens by chatting for long periods on social media sites . This may cause young people to not be independent, and rely on the help from others . Social media also provides a great platform for cyber theft and bullying. This increases the chances of personal information theft and incidents. This poses a lot of risk to young people as their personal information can be stolen because they are stored in places they do not know or where security is unknown or suspicious.

At last, social media opens a communication channel for young people and has many benefits. This includes the development of oneself and opening to wide range of social networks that promote opportunities and cultural abilities. However, it is very important that youth should use different social platforms carefully to avoid being victimized by cybercriminals and using it in limit so that it may not harm their mental and phycology abilities.

Mental Health

Today in the 21st century where we can get things at the tip of our fingers, where there are flying cars, one can see each other from any corner of the world; where one can shop for food, clothes, house everything from their mobile phone but still our mind is not happy or is at peace which creates mental
health issues.

Today we are physically strong but mentally weak. Our body is perfect yet our minds are chaotic. Today we have everything but still, our mind desires more of other things which makes our minds unhappy, jealous, and unsatisfied with our life.
Mental health has been one of the most important health issues in today’s time. People have thousands of friends on Facebook but still no one to hear their problems. It makes a person feel low self-esteem, self-doubt, depression, and anxiety too. If your mind is not happy then no matter what you do; no matter whom you are with, you won’t feel good at all.

It feels like you are with all the people around you, and yet you may lose yourself in the crowd. Mental health issues make you feel sad and add negative contemplations to your brain which impacts your daily life.

It makes you feel bored and lazy to do the job. One going through mental health problems always try to isolate themselves and they don’t socialize with people usually. They have irregular sleeping patterns. They start consuming alcohol and smoking cigarettes which makes them feel better.

One of the most important reasons behind the rise of this Issue is today’s digital world we live in. Where we are provided with every information we want but also exposes us to the information we are not supposed to have. Too much exposure to something always leads you to the negative side. People get wrongly influenced by this information which results in wrong thoughts.

But still today in our society having mental health problems is a stigma. People are afraid to tell others about their problems because society judges them. Which makes it even more worse for people to talk. But this stereotype is slowly breaking, people are now accepting this as completely normal.

People can talk to their friends, family, or with someone, they can connect with. Talking about problems and feelings will always help you to reduce your stress and stay calm. People can start doing meditation or play outdoor games, or socialize with people which would definitely help them with their problems.

PEER PRESSURE

Peer pressure refers to the pressure to follow societal norms and do what is right. Peer pressure is a significant issue that is frequently overlooked. When a girl or a boy reaches the age when they are regarded “ready” to marry, peer pressure plays a major impact. Peer pressure begins to act on someone who is not married according to society conventions. It’s a significant issue since many individuals, even if they don’t like it, do things out of peer pressure.

When graduates begin seeking for work, this is an example of peer pressure. When the majority of people work in mainstream organizations, a person who wants to go outside the box and do something unusual faces a lot of peer pressure. Children want you to purchase them toys or clothes so that they can be loved by their peers. Later in adolescence, individuals may feel pressured to participate in certain activities, such as dance or sports, because most of their peers do. Under the influence of the “popular” kids, they may desire to emulate anti-social habits like bullying, smoking, or even drugs.

Peer pressure has a major influence on a child’s behaviour during his or her adolescent years, as well as in later adulthood. Peer pressure that is healthy can be a motivator for doing well in school, athletics, and extracurricular activities. It may prove counterproductive for the individual if used excessively. Though peer pressure might be a motivation at times, it should never be permitted to override one’s particular preferences or inner real calling.

The only way to prevent aggressive behaviour among children as a result of peer pressure is to teach them how to say no when necessary and to stay away from peers who pressure them to do things they are uncomfortable with or that are potentially dangerous. They must spend time with other children who can resist peer pressure and should always seek the advice of an adult they trust if they are having difficulty resisting peer pressure. Parents and instructors should pay attention to their children and interact with them if they encounter any problems.

Effects Of Peer Pressure On Children And Strategies To Help Them Cope:

It is a natural human desire to want to fit in and be a part of a group that one admires or idolizes, especially during the formative years of adolescence when children want belonging, acceptance, and attention. However, rather than leading to more friends, this ambition is more often than not met with unwelcome pressure. Peer pressure is the term for this type of stress. It’s a form of societal pressure that nearly everyone encounters at some point in their lives. External stimulation in the form of peer pressure or internal motivation to follow one’s peers can both cause peer pressure.

Peer pressure is most prevalent throughout the adolescent years, when each individual undergoes numerous internal and external changes. Peers have an important role in a child’s growth, particularly during adolescence. Beginning in early childhood, peers have a strong impact that only grows stronger during adolescence.

Mental Health Awareness

If we look more closely at the word suicide, we can really turn it around to read it as u decide. But have most of us stopped to think the same with our lives too. Whenever faced with an issue we all decide to reach to a very extreme solution, that is ending our lives. No matter how small or big the problem is suicide seems like an easy way out sometimes.

There is always a solution, a answer or a way out to all the problems we face. All we need to do is to look at it clearly but sometimes what happens is that we forget to do it. It is advisable to consult someone and talk about your problems. Just like the saying goes sharing is caring. Sharing our problems can lower the burden sometimes.  But most of don’t like sharing our thoughts especially because of the stigma attached towards it by the society. People are scared that they might not fit into society’s perception of a perfect human being, that they are ready to risk their mental health too.

Mental illness is the illness of the brain which an result in the change in the behavior and thinking of a person. It is also just like any other disease that affects our body which can be cured with the proper medicine. One of the most common mental health issues found among people are anxiety disorders and mood disorders. Mental health is a primary component of a human being. And it is high time that we give certain importance to it too, after all we need healthy and sound people as our work force rather than people whos minds are not at the right places

Recently people are coming out of their holes in admitting that they have mental health issues too. Many celebrities have also taken up the issue of addressing the need for wiping out any kinds of stigma around mental health. Lets talk is a frontline campaign for the mental health movement where people are encouraging others to talk about their mental illness and any kinds of problems they face.

Sometimes it becomes so hard to reach out to people because we believe that they cannot help us. But what we think about certain things might not always be true. There is always two sides to a coin. We have to all make sure to have empathy to people rather then being sympathetic.
We cannot always find someone willing to talk to. And sometimes we simply cannot tell the difference between a person not suffering from mental illness and one who is suffering from mental illness. Like other diseases its not a visible one under an eye. It is something that can only be cured with a proper approach towards the patient.
