Rupee slides to record low at 83 against US dollar.

The rupee plunged 61 paise to decline below the 83-mark for the first time against the US dollar on today amid unabated foreign capital outflows and a strong dollar in the overseas markets.

Besides, rising crude prices in the international markets and risk-averse sentiment among investors weighed on the local currency, traders said.

The consumer price index rose 10.1 per cent, compared with 9.9 per cent the previous month, the Office for National Statistics said Wednesday. The new data shows inflation returned to the July peak and is once again at the highest since early 1982. The increase was driven by food prices, which leapt by 14.5 per cent from a year earlier, the biggest jump since 1980, the ONS said.

The US dollar held at a 32-year peak against the yen and rose from a two-week trough against a basket of major peers, underpinned by expectations of aggressive US Federal Reserve interest rate hikes.

Global Hunger Index report is an attempt to tarnish India's image : says GoI.

The government has yet again rejected the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2022 which ranks India 107 among 121 countries and has called it “an erroneous measure of hunger” and an attempt to “taint” India’s image. It also wrongly claims that the ranks are based on an opinion poll.

“Three out of the four indicators used for calculation of the index are related to health of Children and cannot be representative of the entire population,” says the press statement issued by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. This is the second year in a row the government has rejected the GHI rankings.

The GHI scores are calculated using four indicators — undernourishment, child stunting, child wasting and child mortality.

It adds that that the fourth indicator, estimate of Proportion of Undernourished (PoU), population is based on an opinion poll conducted on a very small sample size of 3000 based on “Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES)” Survey Module of Food and Agriculture Organisation- a claim that was also rejected last year by representatives of the Global Hunger Index.

The government said the data used to arrive at the rating drawn from a narrow sample for a country of India’s size and through dubious methods is not only wrong & unethical, but it also reeks of obvious bias. It also accused the Concern Worldwide and Welt Hunger Hilfe, the publishing agencies of the Global Hunger Report, of not having done their due diligence before releasing the report.

The central government highlighted the prejudice and erroneous method used by the agency, pointing out how irrelevant, and questions not searching for factual responses were used in the survey to arrive at the Hunger Index.

The Benefits of Boredom

I have always been a rather easily bored person (much to the annoyance of my parents and friends). I have also been a very creative person. It was not until very recently that I learnt that the two go hand-in-hand with each other.

A lot of neurologists suggest that boredom is good for you. The only problem is that no one allows themselves to experience the benefits of boredom. Why is this, you may wonder? Well, boredom has been demonised in popular culture. People go about saying “An idle mind is a devil’s workshop.” As a result, we instantly seek relief from boredom through some or the other engaging activity- even something as simple as watching a YouTube video or scrolling through Instagram or TikTok.

Boredom makes you itch to do something, anything. But the only way one can reap the benefits of boredom is to wallow in that discomfort. Instead of seeking relief from the boredom, staying bored and letting your mind wander and work its magic is the perfect way to boost and stimulate creativity.

So, every now and then, just sit there and do nothing and see where your thoughts take you!

IMF's Chief praises India's economic growth.

India has emerged as “a bright light” at a time when the world is facing imminent prospects of a recession, the chief economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on 12 October, noting that the country, however, needed key structural reforms in order to achieve the ambitious target of being a USD 10 trillion economy.

Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas, chief economist of the IMF said: “Well, India is, I want to say, sort of bright light. The Indian economy has been doing reasonably well.”   In its World Economic Outlook, the IMF projected a growth rate of 6.8 per cent in 2022 as compared to 8.7 per cent in 2021 for India.

The projection for 2023 slides down further to 6.1 per cent, he noted.

Responding to a question on the ambitious goal of India becoming a USD 10 trillion economy, Gourinchas told PTI that he certainly believes this is achievable.

“Inflation is still above the central bank target in India. We expect India’s inflation at 6.9 per cent in 2022-23, which is likely to come down to 5.1 per cent next year. So, the overall stance of the policy we think that fiscal and monetary policy should be probably on the tightening side,” Gourinchas said.

Kailasagiri of Andhra Pradesh: Place for Pristine Beauty and Mediation

Kailasagiri is a hilltop park within Visakhapatnam city, Andhra Pradesh a wonderful tourist place with pristine beauty. The place was developed by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (popularly known as VMRDA) and spread over to an area of 380 acres of land covered with exciting landscape gardens consisting of rich flora and tropical trees. Kailasagiri is located around 10 kilometers from the Visakhapatnam Railway Station and around eight kilometers from Visakhapatnam Bus Station. The Government of Andhra Pradesh awarded Kailasagiri as “the Best Tourist Spot” in 2003. The hilltop is well connected by all means of transport. It was reported that on average, three lakh Indian and foreign tourists visit the park every year. To protect the environment, VMRDA has declared the hill a plastic-free zone, a praiseworthy step. A cable car connects to the top of the hill, the first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh which I had the opportunity to enjoy. Also, it is pertinent to mention that Kailasagiri is a favourite location among filmmakers all over India. In addition to the eye-catching and holy statues of Bhagawan Shiva and Goddess Parvathi, the hilltop has many wonderful attractions such as the Titanic viewpoint, floral clock, Shanku-Chakra Namas of Bhagawan Venkateswara of Tirupati, gliding point, delicious food courts, etc. The floral clock one of the biggest in India with a diameter of 10 feet is located here. There is a Shanti Ashram on the top of the hill, where one can get huge peace by spending time in meditation. A number of wonderful viewpoints have been developed all around the hilltop. A capsule lift has been provided to fascinate the visitors to view the beauty of blue seawaters and the city along with the stunning beauties of the hilltop from further heights.

During my Kailasagiri visit in the month of September 2022, apart from watching the natural pristine beauty by the train, I felt happy that the train resolved many issues as many senior citizens can enjoy the beauty by sitting on the train as both sides were open so can watch through the windows. Also, those who had leg/knee/ankle problems or other health problems need not walk for long distances. While moving by train as I was in a non-airconditioned (non-AC) coach, observed beautiful butterflies, a few flying insects through windows entered our coach and came out. I personally felt as if these were well-coming us. It is pertinent to mention that altogether five coaches were attached to the train engine. Out of these, three were non-AC coaches and two were AC coaches but all had only chair cars. Each coach can accommodate 50 people. And the journey period was 20 minutes that is every after 20 minutes new people could board the train. Also, it may be mentioned here that the cost of a ticket per person for an AC coach was Rs. 150 and for a non-AC coach it was Rs.100. The most significant advantage of the running of such a train was that it generated employment for many youths such as ticket sellers, ticket checkers, train maintenance, cleaners, etc. The train was operated under the banner of ‘Sarada Roadways Kailasagiri Hills Tour’. Also, another noteworthy point is that there were many shops in the tourist place selling different items and some shops were owned by minorities (Muslims) which is the beauty of our country depicting religious harmony. Anyway, I suggest to all the State Governments wherever technically feasible and economically viable such a project (train journey of 20 to 30 minutes) may be implemented in the tourist places.

(The author expresses his gratitude to Dr. P L K Murthy, Proprietor, Visakha Ads; Chairman, Public Relations Society of India, Visakhapatnam Chapter and Sri T. Lakshmi Pathi, former Chief Engineer, Vishakhapatnam Port Authority for arranging the visit to the place as well as in carrying out the study)

Wimbledon 2022 : Djokovic storms into third round with kokkinakis thrashing

Top seed Novak Djokovic looked every bit the dominant player who is the defending champion in the Wimbledon championships. Djokovic beats kokkinakis by 6-1,6-4,6-2 to stay on course for fourth consecutive Wimbledon title to move level with Pete Sampras on seven and within one of men’s record holder Roger Federer, and on this form, it is hard to see anyone stopping him. It was the 23rd straight victory for Djokovic at the grasscourt grand slam. Djokovic dominated rallies with his precise groundstrokes at was eager to step forward for every opportunity, winning 30 out of 38 points at the net. Djokovic brought the crowd to their feet with the incredible drop shots and when kokkinakis chased a few of them down, Djokovic calmly played the overhead lob to keep pressure on the opponent. The only opportunity kokkinakis had when Djokovic was serving but he duly saved most of the breakpoints and closed out the win in two hours on his second match point in the second round. After completing victory in exactly two hours, Djokovic said, I’m happy with my performance today and quite pleased with the way i’ve raised the level of tennis in two days. Being in 20's

People say that being young is fun and the most exciting part of one’s life is it true ??

Nowadays being young sucks. people around us just thinks we are happy by seeing us smile but the truth is we are just a sad generation who can put a smiling face in any situation. We are in a toxic society that just kills peoples feelings. when it comes to feelings its always about finding love and friendship. am pretty sure we all have heard stories of our parents love and wonderful friends they had. being kid I grew watching wonderful romantic movies like sixteen candles and walk remember these are my favourite movies being a kid. I grew up thinking that life will be like that. i wish that my life was like nicholas sparks novels but it turned out to be an horror movie.

Me being a youngster falling in love with everyone I see without even noticing what type of a person she is mostly I ended up being in a toxic relationship. I exactly remember the first moment I saw her. it was the 1st day of my MBA which is kind of confusing for me everything happened so fast.

India abstained to vote against China at UNHRC.

During this week UN Human Rights Council was holding a debate on the human rights situation in China’s restive Xinjiang region. Human rights groups have been sounding the alarm over what is happening in the resource-rich north-western Chinese province for years, alleging that more than one million Uyghurs had been detained against their will in a large network of what Beijing calls “re-education camps”.

The efforts of the US and Western countries to bring a resolution against China on the situation of Uighur Muslims in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) suffered a setback when 11 countries, including India and Ukraine, indirectly helped China by abstaining to vote at the time of voting.

This is only the second time in the UNHRC’s 16-year history that a US resolution has been rejected. It also explains the changing global equations. Most of the discussion after the UNHRC vote is about India’s stand. Given the current state of relations with China, the US expected support from India. However, India said that it has stuck to its policy of not voting against any country in institutions like the UNHRC.

However, it is believed that India has taken this step due to the apprehension of a UN vote on Jammu and Kashmir in future.

Know all about 'Prachand', India's own homemade attack helicopter.

Indigenously-built light combat helicopter (LCH) ‘Prachand’ was inducted into the Indian Air Force at Jodhpur airbase. The Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), developed by state-run aerospace major Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), has been primarily designed for deployment in high-altitude regions. It was inducted into the IAF at a ceremony in Jodhpur in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari.

The LCH is a multi-role combat helicopter designed and manufactured by HAL, which is made in HAL’s helicopter division in Bengaluru. The helicopter can carry rockets, air-to-air and anti-tank missiles, and bombs.

The helicopter has the necessary agility, manoeuvrability, range extension, high elevation efficiency, and 24/7/365 all-weather fighting potential to carry out tasks like combat search and rescue (CSAR), destruction of enemy air defence (DEAD), counter-insurgency (CI), functions against slow-moving aircraft and remotely piloted aircraft (RPAs), high altitude bunker busting, counter-insurgency operations in the jungle and urban environments, and support to ground forces.

The production of LCH by HAL will give the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative more momentum and encourage the indigenization of defence production and the nation’s defence industry as part of the ongoing effort to achieve self-reliance in the defence manufacturing sector and reduce imports.

India to add 80 new airports till 2027.

India’s aviation regulator has stated that the country could add nearly 80 new airports in the next four to five years. India’s annual aviation sector growth rate currently sits at around 9% but is likely to reach double digits in the coming years.

In the last eight years alone, the number of airports in the country has increased from 74 to 141. This number is expected to shoot up to around 220 in the next half a decade with all the new airports that have been planned.

While new airports are expected to support India’s growing aviation market, the civil aviation ministry has a much larger vision. One of them is to possibly develop an aviation hub in India, with the government planning to create an ecosystem to support such a development in the future.

While Indian airports often feature in the list of busiest and well-maintained airports, they’re nowhere near some of their global counterparts when it comes to offering fast and reliable connections to international passengers.

While there are many challenges to developing a hub airport in India, aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia plans to iron out those issues in the coming few years. The larger plan also includes having more than 90 airports that are carbon-neutral by 2024, with a 2030 net-zero emissions target.

Web series

A web series is, by definition, a run of scripted or unscripted online videos that are published online and typically in episodic form. Web series are a subset of the web television medium, which first appeared in the late 1990s and gained popularity in the early 2000s. I An episode or “webisode” is the name for a single instalment of a web series programme, but the latter term is less common. In general, a variety of platforms and devices, including desktop, laptop, tablets, and smartphones, can be used to watch web series. They are also available for television viewing.
Web series have a special place in the history of modern entertainment because of how common and popular they are. According to statistics, Netflix, a well-known OTT platform, has reached 65% of US households, and the average American between the ages of 18 and 34 spends two hours per day on the streaming service. According to reports, Netflix had close to 150 million customers worldwide in 2019. One can only speculate as to how many customers the pandemic crisis may have affected given the monotony of quarantine and the resulting lack of movies and television series being produced; the real numbers have not yet been released.
There are many factors contributing to this frightening popularity, starting with the fact that these programmes are shorter in length and hence more suited to the attention span of the younger audience. Second, audiences are intrigued by their suspenseful storylines, original content, and creative strategies. Additionally, they have made room for fresher performers to emerge and command attention.

This particular change will help Google in getting more subscribers and will also increase their revenue. But it is not confirmed, as the trial is still going on and the decision will be taken after some time. Until now, there is still no update from Google regarding this change.

In the recent past, Google has been trying to increase its revenue through different methods. One of them has been evident with the trial that is going on with the several ads for the free account users.

Google also shut down its Stadia gaming platform to redirect the revenue flow. It will also increase their focus on the selective few options, that are the real money maker for them.

Now, there has also been speculations that Google is trying various things to increase its user base for subscriptions because it has lesser revenue this year than the last year. But on the bright side, the number of subscriptions is increasing on various platforms for Google. One of them is YouTube music.

Now, on the evidence part, users are posting the screenshots of the new premium option on Reddit. In return, Google has confirmed that some of the users are getting such options as a part of the trial program. It will let them analyze that whether users are willing to pay for such options or not.

Now, it remains to be seen that whether users will accept such a change or not. On the contrary, users can also look at a future where there will be two different options for the users in various settings option of Google on various platforms like YouTube, YouTube Music, and many others.

Bigger subscriber base here does not mean that it is the end for the free account users because there are quite a few. Google will support the free users also as it is the first reason that users are using YouTube in the first place. The other reason is the rapidly increasing traffic on the platform for the content that allows the users to learn various things, that are related to various fields.

With 5G, taking on the world in different parts of the world, at a fast pace. As the network coverage will improve, the users will be willing to experience better and advanced forms of the technological world. They will like to experience a video in 4k resolution. So, in return it might help Google in getting more subscribers. On the other hand, it might not help Google as people will get comfortable with 2k or even Ful HD. All of these are just speculations, and the future is uncertain, but exciting.

India's Foreign Direct Investment(FDI) to be accumulated to whopping $100 billion by the end of this fiscal year.

India is on track to attract $100 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the current fiscal on account of economic reforms and ease of doing business, the government said on September 24, 2022.

In 2021-22, the country received the “highest ever” foreign inflows of $83.6 billion.

“This FDI has come from 101 countries, and invested across 31 union territories and states and 57 sectors in the country. On the back of economic reforms and Ease of Doing Business in recent years, India is on track to attract $100 billion FDI in the current FY (financial year),” the commerce and industry ministry said in a statement.

The statement also mentions that the government has installed a liberal and transparent policy to attract foreign investment. Currently, most sectors of the Indian economy are open to FDI under an automatic route.

Under the government rules, permissions from the appropriate authorities of the government or the RBI are required to invest in the country.

The reform measures include liberalization of guidelines and regulations, in order to reduce unnecessary compliance burdens, bring down costs and enhance the ease of doing business in India, the statement added.
