Central Vista Project

Central vista project is an ambitious initiative by the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre to reconstruct a 3.2-kilometer stretch known as the Central Vista in the heart of Lutyens Delhi, which was erected by the British in the 1930s. In 2019, The national government proposed this renovation project to give India’s “power corridor” a new identity. The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is in charge of the project, which is expected to be finished by 2024 and its estimated cost is more than Rs. 20,000 crore. The main vision of this project is to symbolize India’s commitment to confront the tough challenges that have afflicted it for decades and it is relentlessly focused on modernizing in order to satisfy the needs and ambitions of its inhabitants. Tradition is respected, but it is not held captive by it. The project is environmentally conscious yet not paralyzed by it.

This project which intends to renovate and enlarge India’s Parliament, Prime Minister’s home, and numerous other official buildings at a cost of Rs 20,000 crore, has been dubbed a sign of indifference and highlighted as an example of the administration’s misdirected priorities during the Covid-19 epidemic. The criticism to central vista project can be seen in various instances as follows:-

On July 12, a Maharashtra-based organization held a public gathering in the capital to protest the project, claiming that the country “needs hospitals, not a new Prime Minister’s home.” The Central Public Works Department restricted photography and video recording at the building site in May, when the project was attracting criticism for continuing despite the devastating second wave of Covid-19, allowing for even more severe criticism.

Due to many criticisms and reacting to opposition’s objections the central government released a document busting all the myths related to this ongoing project to bring a reality amongst citizens of India.

According to the report and defining the current activity at the project site, the central ministry stated that suspending it at this point would result in the government incurring responsibilities under existing contracts and jeopardizing the interests of the employees. Inflation is also a major concern if the project is delayed. The government also stated that environmental sustainability is at the heart of the Central Vista project, dispelling the misconception that it will harm the environment. No heritage structures, including India Gate, Parliament, the North and South Blocks, the National Archives, and others, would be demolished, according to the administration. The center has also   rejected claims that the Prime Minister’s new home will cost Rs 13,450 crore. The estimate covers a number of projects, including ten structures, according to the ministry, which also stated that the construction work for the Prime Minister’s house has yet to be bid and that the government has given no approval. The major criticism of continuing the work amid covid 19 was also dismissed by the government by citing that the work comes under  Essential Services Act.  On May 31, the Delhi High Court also dismissed a petition challenging the Central Vista Redevelopment project’s ongoing construction operations, calling the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) a “illegal motivation” to halt the work.

How To Describe The Indescribable?

“Describing the indescribable is a work of extreme talent and passion.”

  • Amatullah. P

Salut! Today’s article highlights the ways of describing the indescribable aspects of storytelling.

A writer gains popularity when indescribable facets of a story are described fluently. Of course, this can be done through imagination. This is mainly incorporated in fictional story telling. For instance, in my earlier articles, I have elaborated on the ways of writing fiction which also highlights the creation of ‘alien to the world’ characters. Thus, this is a continuation to that. If you create a bizarre character which is non – existent then you sure will need to provide some description. So, that is how describing the indescribable comes into the picture.

So, let us learn some of the ways of describing the indescribable aspects or characters in storytelling.

Create A Fictional Character That Is Easy For You To Describe Later!

So very important! When you design a peculiar character, you must never forget to keep some description of it in your head through rigorous imagination. Try to jot down some points of description in your notepad in case you are forgetful.

Merge The Description With The Existent Objects!

Try creating a description on the basis of the description or attributes of existent things. You could imagine describing some part of it but also merge it with the description of the describable. For instance, if you have framed a story as your visit to mars and your encounter with aliens there, then you are expected to create a good description of that alien. You could assign it humanlike characteristics (describable entities) and merge it with your own imaginative description. (That is their names are in the form of numbers. The alien you met was named 224). Thus, here you see, human tendency of name has been assigned to a non – existent entity alien and merged with the imaginative concept of numbered names!

Include The Facial Features, Setting, And Imaginative Background Story Of That Indescribable Character!

This would not only enhance the story but also your levels of imagination thereby improving your reputation as a writer. Try not to excessively attribute qualities of existent aspects to the non -existent ones because that doesn’t prove your creativity. Include it just once or twice as an auxiliary branch to your content. Include it to make your work interesting and not to escape imagination!  All I mean is that one can’t escape from including the existent qualities in the indescribable content, but the thing to remember is that the description of that fictional being remains unpopular even with the existent aspects. For instance, the alien 224 has 3 eyes with no retina whatsoever. The eyes are milky white and look creepy. The gender isn’t specified there because they all look the same. The aliens are red in colour as the planet mars.

Don’t Beat Around The Bush With Your Description!

Be straight to the point when describing the characters. Don’t twist and turn the story to the extreme level. In short, don’t incorporate much drama. I don’t say that one must completely avoid twisting the story but there sure is a limit to that. Arrive at conclusions faster after twisting the story for quite some time in order to not avoid breaking the alacrity of the audience.

Beat Around the Bush: Meaning of a Medieval Term Still Used Today

Thus, I would conclude stating that describing the indescribable is a work of imagination which can’t be ignored. Fiction writing would be enhanced with the inclusion of this aspect. Of course, in reality the indescribable things can’t be explained because of their real nature but writing provides us the privilege of including unreal aspects as well which is assigned goodness in the form of imagination! The goal is to describe these non – existent entities as existential. So, now that you know some points, why not try doing it? Plunge your notebook out and get imagining!

Happy Writing And Thinking! 😉

Charlotte’s mother, Karen, is trying to convince herself that there are worse things than becoming a grandmother at thirty-three. For instance, there’s wanting to kill Charlotte for the mess she’s made of her life.Karen uncovers a scandalous family secret involving her own birth, and then falls back with her ex-husband. So much for perfect timing.

Of course, Nan knows that everything will work out fine for Charlotte and the baby–these things usually do. In this funny novel, three generations of mothers learn that it’s the simplest mistakes that can change your life forever. With wit and wisdom, Kate Long proves that there are as many kinds of mothers as there are daughters, but the love that binds them all is what truly matters.

FAVOURITE QUOTES:

‘there’ll never be equality of the sexes till men can get pregnant.”

“Everyone’s history is the product of someone else’s; what we think of as our own experience is only what’s has been bestowed on us by others and you can’t walk away from that. And Why should you?”

“I don’t know which is worse; fear or boredom.”

MY OPINION FROM READING THE BOOK:

“The Bad Mother’s Handbook” remind me that there is neither a perfect time nor a perfect way to be a mother.

OVER-THINKING (Part-1)

Why Do People Overthink?

There are two kinds of people around us. First are the spontaneous ones, the ones who make their decisions and act on it immediately. And then there are over-thinkers, the ones who will think about something for such a long time and often end up not making any decision at all. It is basic human nature to think about every aspect before coming to a decision but that turns overthinking when you can’t get out of your own head. It often starts with you having troubles making big decisions and soon you start to overthink every decision you take.

WHY DO PEOPLE OVERTHINK?

Overthinking is the rot cause of many problems such as depression and anxiety. If we think about the future, the past and all the other things that are not in our control , our mind is bound to go in a spiral leaving us feeling anxious and depressed. There are genuine psychological reasons as to why people tend to overthink everything. Some of the common reasons include:

  • HABIT OF WORRYING: People who develop the habit of worrying about every little detail early in their life become textbook over-thinkers later on. The worry could be about their household situation or some situation at school and this habit turns into bigger worries over time.
  • STRUGGLE TO MAKE DECISIONS: It is generally believed that the more you think about something, the better would be the decision. However, this might not always be the case. Over-analyzing is actually a barrier in decision making. Soon you will find yourself struggling to make everyday decision like what to eat and this is a huge waste of time and energy as well.
  • PERFECTIONIST: People who are not satisfied with mediocre work and do everything perfectly are more likely to be over-thinkers. In order to make a simple decision, they will mull it over in their mind a thousand times. It is a great way of distracting yourself because if you convince yourself that there’s more you need to do, that means there’s more you need to think about. And this doesn’t make you feel inadequate and imperfect. If you don’t try to handle this insecurity, you will not be able to move on.
  • PAST DECISIONS: This is one of the major reasons that leads to overthinking. Your bad and impulsive decisions of the past force you to take every step carefully and you start to second guess every aspect of it. You don’t even realize when this turns you into a blown over-thinker.
  • Some of the other reasons that triggers overthinking include having trouble going to sleep, reliving past mistakes, reliving all the embarrassing memories, asking “what if” questions, finding hidden meaning in things people say to you, or constantly rehearsing conversations in your mind so that you sound smart and don’t say the wrong thing.

The sense of control we try to earn by over-analyzing every situation can be very harmful for our mental health. We need to get a hold over our thoughts. The fear that we are trying to fight with overthinking is actually penetrating further in our minds rather than leaving it. Overthinking might not be all bad but it is always better to get control over your thoughts before the mind goes into a spiral.

BIRDS DOESN’T AGE !!!

Birds don’t age like we do ….

As humans, we’re accustomed to using visual hints to guess the age of someone.

The neighbor’s dog with flecks of gray fur and a stiff walk is obviously getting up in years.

That huge gnarled tree in the park must have been there for decades.

But Birds are different. They don’t get gray ,they don’t get bigger with each passing year, they don’t leave growth rings for us to count.

In fact, once most birds develop their adult plumage, they essentially become impossible to age.

The reality that birds don’t show physical signs of aging creates a challenge for understanding how long they live.

Many birds live much longer than we might expect. Some expects say that birds can live up to 120 years and more..

Here are some characteristics that can help us to guess which species are likely to be longer-lived:

  1. Number of chicks: Birds with longer lifespans often have fewer young, while those with shorter lifespans tend to have more.
  2. Years to reach adulthood: Shorter-lived species tend to reach adulthood more quickly than longer-lived species.
  3. Life on the ground: Birds that live in the nest on the ground have often adapted for shorter lifespans than those that live higher up, such as in the shelter of the tree canopy.

Importance Of Mobile Phones

With the appearance of new innovation the method of correspondence is likewise changed. In beginning of history, pigeons were utilized as method for correspondence. Afterward, composed messages are sent through letters by post. As the time elapsed, phone appeared and today is the period of remote correspondence which leads to cell phones. Mobiles are the most recent creation and normal approach to convey now-a-days.

So we need to utilize hands free sets to stay away from such dangers.

A little consideration is gotten as of late towards the expected effect of the sort of electromagnetic fields created by cells on the human cerebrum. Collecting proof demonstrate that microwave radiation from cell phones may cause genuine infections and aggravations in the physiology. This incorporates an expanded malignancy hazard and hereditary harm, upset cerebrum work and different impacts. Cell phone radiation and wellbeing concerns have been raised, particularly following the huge expansion in the utilization of remote versatile communication all through the world. Consequently, the head set ought to be stayed away from our head and delayed utilization of cell phone ought to be stayed away from.

When she quiver gently..! Evolution of Electric Guitars

The Guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. Apart from normal guitars electric guitars, first patented in 1937. Electric guitars can have solid, semi-hollow, or hollow bodies; solid bodies produce little sound without amplification. The sound is frequently modified by other electronic devices or the natural distortion of valves or the pre-amp in the amplifier. The first successful magnetic pickup for a guitar was invented by George Beauchamp, and incorporated into the 1931 Ro-Pat-In (later Rickenbacker) “Frying Pan” lap steel; other manufacturers, notably Gibson, soon began to install pickups in archtop models. Well..! Take a look at the evolution of electric guitars…..

The Rickenbacker “Frying Pan” 1931
Manufactured by Rickenbacker Electro. The Frying Pan was created in 1931 by George Beauchamp. The name was derived from the flat body and its neck ‘handle’. It was designed to cash in on the popularity of Hawaiian music.

The Rickenbacker “Electro String” 1935
Created by Electro String, its name was changed to Rickenbacker. Was sold until 1953 when FC Hall a California music-business entity acquired it.

Les Paul “Log” 1941
Les Paul’s “Log” has a Gibson pickup mounted on a 4×4 block of solid maple wood with strings. He attached the body of an Epiphone hollow-body guitar for improving the instrument’s aesthetics, and for the purpose of reducing feedback and increasing acoustic sustenance. These were constantly modified by Paul, and the famous instrument designer used them long after creating his eponymous Gibson model.

Bigsby-Travis Guitar 1947
Best known as the creator of “Bigsby Vibrato”, Paul Bigsby’s instrument was important in the development of solid-body electric guitars. These have all six tuners on one side of the headstock, as opposed to the three-a-side headstock arrangement popular during that time.

Fender Broadcaster (Telecaster) 1948
With less focus on design, Leo Fender created a regular guitar that had clear sound. The Broadcaster is a two pickup model, and its necks are incorporated with truss rods. Since it violates the trademark for its Broadcaster line of drums, Fender changed its name to Telecaster.

Gibson Les Paul 1952
A design collaboration between Les Paul and Gibson Guitar Corporation gave birth to the Gibson Les Paul after the introduction of Telecaster created a rage for electric guitars. Les Paul went through 50-60 prototypes before finalizing the design.

Fender Stratocaster 1954
Often referred to as “Strat”. This instrument is a model of the electric guitar designed by Leo Fender, George Fullerton, and Freddie Tavares in 1954. It has a double cut-away neck with beveled edges, a Fender engineered “tremolo” unit in the floating bridge, and three pickups – the first solid body guitar to be fitted with such an arrangement.

Van Halen “Frankenstrat” 1979
Made from an ash Stratocaster body with a routing, Frankenstrat was Eddie Van Halen’s idea of combining a Fender and a Gibson. It had a maple neck, chrome hardware. And red, black, and white stripes. It also made a mark for hyper-fast technical playing.

Jackson Randy Rhoads 1982
Commissioned by guitarist Randy Rhoads, it was supposed to be called The Original Sin. He wanted to produce a guitar that resembled a shark’s fin. The vibrato in the guitar is of very high quality, and the pickups are designed to capture the treble more efficiently. Vinnie Vincent, formerly of Kiss, was the first professional guitarist to be offered an early Rhoads guitar by Jackson after Rhoads’ death.

Ibanez 7-String Guitar 1994
The seven-string, solid-body guitar became famous when the band Korn featured the Ibanez Universe in their 1994 debut album. Today. The 7-string still rumbles on with Muse, Dream theater etc.

Guitar Hero Controller
The series has helped to rekindle music education in children. Many consider Guitar Hero to be one of the most influential products of the first decade of the 21st century, attributing it as the spark leading to the growth of the rhythm-game market, for boosting music sales for new and old artists.

Guitar Hero Live 2015
Once again taking the shape of the old faithful fender Stratocaster. This guitar takes on a new approach with a 6-fret design arranged in two rows of three. The frets are represented by three scrolling lanes on-screen, containing either black or white notes representing the two rows. Due to the new design, the controller cannot be used for backwards compatibility with other guitar hero games.

Technology used in our daily life.

Technology plays an important role in our daily life. We can’t live a single day without using technologies even in every minute we are using cars for going anywhere, mobile phones for call and text message which are part of technology. Starting our day from going to the bed very much we are dependent to the technology.

Today technology has pierced in every aspect of our life: entertainment to communications, travels and tourism, nuclear weapons, electronic gadgets, televisions, internet service. Also communication has become zoom speedy through technology and become so much updated like from cycle to bikes, telephones to mobile phones, advance PCs and laptops.

Remember, ” EVERY COIN HAS TWO SIDES”, in modern day technology made human life easy and it is time saving also. On the other side technology also create several negative effects in human life. Some of the technologies has escaped from human control. Somewhere it made our life complicated. Not everyone knows the right way of using technologies and it is also difficult to understand for lots of peoples. Humans are now very much addicted to cars, bikes mobile phones, electronic gadgets, machines etc.

Technology has both positive and negative effects,it is just a revolutionary way of improving quality of human life and to the advanced generation. I can’t imagine the life without cars, trains, bus, mobile phones, airplanes, etc.

The 21st Century Space Race

Everybody knows about the Apollo missions in the late 20th century, when Neil Armstrong famously quoted, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”, as he became the first human to stand on the moon. But since then, space exploration hasn’t been as enthusiastic and exciting. Until now.

Unlike the Space Race in the 60s, where powerful countries tried to beat each other to space, the new space race is between multi-billionaires with their private space companies. The biggest players are Elon Musk’s SpaceX, Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin and Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic.

Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX, said that his company aims to revolutionize space technology, with the ultimate goal of enabling people to live on other planets. Jeff Bezos, who founded Blue Origin, said the company believes that “in order to preserve Earth, our home, for our grandchildren’s grandchildren, we must go to space to tap its unlimited resources and energy”. Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic is attempting to be the first to offer commercial human spaceflight, trying to open up space to everyone.

Out of all the private space companies, Elon Musk’s SpaceX has achieved the most, with many successful test flights, transporting cargo to the International Space Station, setting up satellites in orbit and sending the first humans to space from the United States since the Apollo missions. He even launched his own Tesla vehicle into space. Not being publicly traded, Musk doesn’t intend to make SpaceX public till it accomplishes its Mars ambitions. He aims to launch a SpaceX rocket off to Mars, containing only cargo by 2022. He has hopes to send a million people to Mars by 2050. He also started a company called Starlink, which aims to set up microsatellites in lower Earth orbit, with the goal of providing affordable internet connection to every corner of the planet.

Following Musk’s remarkable success, other space companies felt the need to do something that will put them on the map. Recently, Jeff Bezos announced that he will be going to space with his brother on July 20th. Following this Richard Branson immediately announced and travelled to space on July 11th. Soon after, this incident resulted in a debate on where space really begins. Blue Origin argued that Kármán line, 100 kilometers above Earth’s mean sea level, is where space truly begins, and Richard Branson with Virgin Galactic did not cross that line, whereas Jeff Bezos is said to be travelling above the Kármán line. Various scientists, astronauts and astronomers jumped into the debate arguing who among the two is right. Famous physicist Neil deGrasse Tyson believes that Richard Branson did not in fact really go to space.

Everyone is waiting for Jeff Bezos to travel to space tomorrow on the New Shephard spacecraft by Blue Origin. This is just the beginning of the massive space exploration business and many private companies are jumping into the very risky yet insanely profitable (if successful) market of the future.

Transgenic mice

We have learnt throughout our lives that mice are used for experiments around the world, but do we really know why mice are used. Is it because they are hated around the world? They is actually a variety of reasons for this. Did you know that mice are 85% genetically similar to humans? Some other features that make them the perfect experimental animals are as follows:-

  1. Adult mice multiply quickly.

They can reproduce as often as every three weeks (they mate on the day they give birth), so scientists have lots of mice to work with. The time between a mouse being born and giving birth (generation time) is short, usually around 10 weeks. This means several generations can be observed at once.

2. The mouse has a short lifespan

The mouse has a short lifespan (one mouse year equals about 30 human years) which means scientists can easily measure the effects of ageing.

3. It is easy to manipulate the mouse genome

It is relatively easy to manipulate the mouse genome, for example, adding or removing a gene to better understand its role in the body. This provides a powerful tool for modelling specific diseases when a mutated gene is known to play a role in the disease.

4. Mice are cost effective

Mice are cost effective because they are cheap and easy to look after. Also the mouse is small, so convenient to house.

But ultimately a mouse is a living thing so there is a lot of controversy surrounding whether mice should be used for experiments or not.

Female hygiene

We all know how important female hygiene is. Our private areas are extremely sensitive and infection prone, if we don’t keep our genitals clean these infections can lead to harmful diseases. Some ways to maintain female hygiene are as follows:-

  1. Use fresh towels

Wash and replace towel and washcloths after you use them. Reusing towels isn’t wise because bacteria can cling to these surfaces. And that potentially puts you at risk for an infection

2. Keep the vagina clean and dry

Cotton is breathable, making it an ideal fabric selection for underwear. It can down on moisture as it keeps your skin cool and dry. With breathable fabrics like cotton, you have a reduced risk of bacterial growth and infections. On the flip side, fabrics like satin retain moisture. That reduces airflow, creating irritation and friction. And that encourages yeast and bacteria growth, which can lead to infections. You should also change out of sweaty workout clothing and wet swimsuits to help prevention infections.

3. Stay Clean

It sounds simple but it’s important to wipe from front to back until the toilet paper shows no residue. That will help prevent bacteria from getting into the vagina. Change sanitary pads and tampons regularly during your period. If you’re wearing panty liners, change them frequently. However, if you wear them all the time, you may have some irritation.

4. Don’t use products to clean inside thee vagina

Your vagina knows how to take care of itself. It self-cleans and naturally produces some discharge that helps get rid of germs and bacteria from your body. So, douching or using harsh cleaners or soaps can disrupt your natural pH balance and can irritate your vagina and wash away good bacteria. Plus, douching will only mask the smell—not cure what’s going on. Stick with warm water and mild soap on the vulva.

A major part of our Indian society is unaware of the importance of proper female hygiene causing an increased amount of female hygiene related diseases in India. Hence it is essential to spread awareness and educate everyone about this particular topic

Westernization

According to M N Srinivas “westernization refers to the changes brought about in Indian society and culture as a result of over 150 years of British rule and the term subsumes changes occurring at different levels of technology, institutions, ideology, values”.

Main features of westernization:

Westernization is a simpler concept. It explains the impact of Western contact (particularly of British rule) on the Indian society and culture. M N Srinivas defends the use of the term when he says that there is need for such as when analysing the changes that a non western country undergoes as a result of prolonged contact with the western one.

It not only includes the introduction of new institutions (for example newspaper, elections, Christian Missionaries) but also fundamental changes in old Institutions. For example, India had schools long before the arrival of the British, but they were different from British introduced schools in that they had been restricted to upper caste children and transmitted mostly traditional knowledge. Other institutions such as the Army, civil service and law courts were also similarly affected.

The form and pace of westernization of India varied from region to region and from one section of population to another. For example one group of people became Westernized in dress, manners, speech while other absorbed Western science, knowledge and literature remaining relatively free from certain aspects. For example brahmins accepted the western dress habits and educational systems and also used gadgets such as radio, television, telephone but they did not accept the British diet, dancing, hunting and such other habits. This distinction is however only relative, not absolute.

According to M N Srinivas in the political and cultural field westernisation has given birth not only to nationalism but also to revivalism, communalism, casteism and heightened  linguistic consciousness and regionalism. To make matters even more bewildering revivalist movements have used Western type schools and colleges and books, pamphlets and journals to propagate their ideas .

The term westernisation, unlike modernisation, is ethically neutral, its use does not carry the implication that it is good or bad where modernisation is normally used in the sense that it is good, according to M N Srinivas.
