Technology.

Technology, techne, “art, skill, cunning of hand”; is the sum of techniques, skills, methods, and processes used in the production of goods or services or in the accomplishment of objectives, such as scientific investigation. Technology can be the knowledge of techniques, processes, and the like, or it can be embedded in machines to allow for operation without detailed knowledge of their workings. Systems (e.g. machines) applying technology by taking an input, changing it according to the system’s use, and then producing an outcome are referred to as technology systems or technological systems.

The simplest form of technology is the development and use of basic tools. The prehistoric invention of shaped stone tools followed by the discovery of how to control fire increased sources of food. The later Neolithic Revolution extended this, and quadrupled the sustenance available from a territory. The invention of the wheel helped humans to travel in and control their environment.

Developments in historic times, including the printing press, the telephone, and the Internet, have lessened physical barriers to communication and allowed humans to interact freely on a global scale.

Technology has many effects. It has helped develop more advanced economies (including today’s global economy) and has allowed the rise of a leisure class. Many technological processes produce unwanted by-products known as pollution and deplete natural resources to the detriment of Earth’s environment. Innovations have always influenced the values of a society and raised new questions in the ethics of technology. Examples include the rise of the notion of efficiency in terms of human productivity, and the challenges of bioethics.

Philosophical debates have arisen over the use of technology, with disagreements over whether technology improves the human condition or worsens it. Neo-Luddism, anarcho-primitivism, and similar reactionary movements criticize the pervasiveness of technology, arguing that it harms the environment and alienates people; proponents of ideologies such as transhumanism and techno-progressivism view continued technological progress as beneficial to society and the human condition.

Places in India that turn beautifully green during Monsoons.

Monsoons not only give new life to nature, but also drape the surroundings in lively greens. While those used to city life might be unaware of such a thing, India boasts of places that turn lush green during the rainy season. If you are also interested to visit such places, here’s a list of places that turn beautifully green during the monsoons.

Top stunning places for your monsoon wishlist.

Cherrapunji, being the second wettest place on Earth, boasts of pleasant weather throughout the year. When here, you might witness rains coming in with such velocity that you will be drenched in no time. And although it receives a huge amount of rainfall, the beauty of this place is that it does not get flooded. In fact, the place turns livelier during the rainy season, with sounds of chirping and humming of birds and insects, along with the thundering sound of rivers flowing at the bottom of the valley.

Chikmagalur, Karnataka

Chikmagalur is blessed with many attractions that turn magical during the monsoons. Sitting in the lap of Western Ghats, it is one of the places that you will make you crave for more. During this time, you can enjoy a drive to Charmadi Ghat near Chikmagalur; the drive will take you through the Western Ghats, home to many gorgeous waterfalls. Further, the spot is also dotted with tall mountains, vast tropical rain forests, and green valleys, all of which turn alive during the monsoons. You need to visit this spot during this time to believe it.

Bhandardara, Maharashtra

Monsoon is a very pleasant time in Bhandardara, as the Randha Falls and streams and lakes get drenched in monsoon rains. The landscape turns fresh, dewy, and green, making it a lovely spot to visit during this time. Further, Bhandardara being situated in the Sahyadri Mountains of the Western Ghats, it also turns into a haven for hikers and trekkers in and around Maharashtra. However, be sure to avoid the trails that turn slippery during the rains.

Mussoorie, Uttarakhand

During monsoons, Mussoorie turns greener than ever, and makes rains the best time to visit. The crowd too gets thinner at this time as compared to summers and winters. If you visit the Queen of Hills during the rainy season, you get the opportunity to witness the dreamlike setting of monsoon that brings out the best of Mussoorie. The beautiful landscapes, serene ambience, make this spot a must ‘green getaway’ during the rainy season.

Banswara, Rajasthan

Also known as the City of Hundred Islands, it’s a paradise of a place to visit during the monsoons. It got its name from the bans or bamboo trees that once grew in abundance here. Lush green hillocks, scenic surroundings, the presence of youthful lakes and rivers, make this spot so gorgeous that you will forget that you are in Rajasthan. When here, visit the lake banks and Mahi river dam that turn stunning during the rains, thereby making it a dreamy monsoon destination.

Steam Deck: Nintendo Switch’s newest competitor

Steam is a digital marketplace and is owned by Valve Corporation. Valve Corporation has published numerous games but in recent years they have been trying to enter the space of hardware. On November 10, 2015 Valve launched its first game controller for connecting to PCs and their own Steam machines (A prebuilt PC developed by Valve which was designed to operate Valve’s Linux-based SteamOS via the Steam client). The Steam controller was discontinued in 2019 and with modest sales.

Steam deck is Valve’s foray into the handheld console space. The Handheld space is currently dominated by Nintendo Switch. With 84.59 million of units sold since its launch in 2017, Switch has been one of the most successful consoles in the current gaming generation.  The most unique thing about Switch is that it can be switched from a handheld design to a home console with the help of a dock accessory.

Steam deck is essentially a PC on the go with very impressive hardware specifications. The handheld is equipped with a 7-inch diagonal display with 1200x800 pixels and 60 Hz refresh rate. It has an AMD APU (Processor) with Zen 2 architectures and 4 cores/8 threads. With 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and storage options ranging from 64GB eMMC($399) , 256GB SSD($ 529) and 512GB SSD($ 649).

Since the late 80s, Nintendo has been the reigning king in the portable gaming space. After the success of Switch, Nintendo revealed the new switch pro which has an OLED display upgrade. This will surely enhance the experience in the console but many were disappointed with no hardware upgrade. Nintendo Switch is still running an Nvidia Tegra custom chip which is severely underpowered and the console struggles to even play Nintendo’s core games with 30 FPS. This means that compromises have to be made to make a game run of the system. Another aspect is that the failure of Sony’s PS Vita (Sony’s portable handheld) failed against the Nintendo 3DS of the previous generation. Sony did not attempt to compete against Nintendo. This meant that there were no major competitors against Nintendo and the company has become somewhat complacent. The launch of Steam Deck also means that there is another competitor against the Switch and this will lead to healthy competition and ultimately it’s a win for the consumers. With 1.6 TFLOPS of GPU power its significantly more powerful than the Switch. Another point to be noted is the versatility that the Steam ex provides. The Deck essentially is a PC and this means that it runs on Valve’s version of Linux OS and by connecting it to a dock via a USB C and it also has full Bluetooth 5.0. This means that you can use it to hook the device up to a full-sized monitor and work on any productivity applications as well. Due to its open nature, even Windows can be installed on the deck. This means that it will be much more flexible than any of its competitors. There have been many recent smaller projects that have attempted a similar portable gaming PC, but Valve (Steam’s parent company) has a much deeper pocket and experience in its hands. The console will be shipped by the end of December 2021. There is no guarantee that this system will be a success but it surely will make the handheld space more exciting.

“𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗦” is the diary that we all carry about with us.” We always have our memory in our pockets and it would leave a smile on our face every time.

we remember it – but imagine a life without memories to recall? Wouldn’t it be very depressing and very boring? 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 because they ‘allow us to grow and learn to be a better person’. Our recollections can teach us very important life lessons, demonstrate skills and abilities and can make us feel happy and entertained. There are so much more things that our 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 can do and how beneficial it is in our lives. 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 because it 🅥︎🅔︎🅡︎🅨︎ 🅘︎🅜︎🅟︎🅞︎🅡︎🅣︎🅐︎🅝︎🅣︎ 🅛︎🅘︎🅕︎🅔︎ 🅛︎🅔︎🅢︎🅢︎🅞︎🅝︎ that we can use and apply in the future. Time would pass by, responsibilities would build up, that is 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀. From what we have learned, we can be able to apply it further in life.

Our memories are what we are, what makes us make the decisions we make, act as we act and love as we love. We would be nothing without our memories but, is it possible to remember everything…….. The answer is no, but we can take measures so that when it comes the time to look back, we have as many memories as we can.

The first thing to keep in mind is that the most important part of a memory is the emotion or emotions it brings. Surely it has happened to you that a certain smell evokes a specific moment of the past. A day with your parents in the flower market returns to your memory when you notice the smell of fresh flowers, or when a perfume reminds you of a person very close to you in the past.

All memories carry with them one or more associated emotions. Those who come with more powerful emotions, fear, disgust, anger, sadness, nostalgia, happiness, etc., are the ones that last the most in our memory.

𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 everything is impossible, since our memory does not work like an infinite video camera. If so, it would be very difficult for us to make decisions quickly, and we would live with an emotional “backpack” too complex to be operative. We remember many things, and most of them will come back to memory when facing a concrete situation.

Holding on to memories are important because it gives us a nostalgic feeling, it reminds us of the good times spent with our dear and near ones , lovely memories of our school, college days , the lovely times spent with our love, and we would never like to erase them from our minds because it gives us a feeling of being loved, cared for and being valued.

Memories are feelings that never change even though people change! we would always love to relive those moments , as it’s a basic human need to remember the good things that had occurred in our lives.

“𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗦” is the diary that we all carry about with us.” We always have our memory in our pockets and it would leave a smile on our face every time.

The Surreality of the Pamirs

Amongst the World’s highest ranges, the majestic Pamir Mountains are situated between Central Asia, South and East Asia. They are located at the junction of the Himalayas with the Karakoram, Hindu Kush and the Tian Shan ranges.

Geography

The lie mainly in the Gorno-Badakshan autonomous region of Tajikistan. The connect the Tian Shan mountains to the North, along the Alay valley of Kyrgyzstan. To the south, they border the Hindu Kush mountains along Afghanistan’s famous anomaly of a province, the Wakhan corridor. To the east, they extend to the range that includes China’s Kongur Tagh, the Pamir’s highest point,  separated by the Yarkand valley from the Kunlun Mountains. The Panj and the Pamir are the major rivers that flow through the ranges.

The three highest mountains in the Pamirs core are the Ismoil Somoni (known from 1932 to 1962 as Stalin Peak, and from 1962 to 1998 as Communism Peak), 7,495 m (24,590 ft), Ibn Sina (still unofficially known as Lenin Peak), 7,134 m (23,406 ft); and Korzhenevskaya ,7,105 m (23,310 ft). Kongur Tagh lies in China in the region known as the ‘Eastern Pamirs’.

There are many glaciers present in the ranges. The 77 km long Fedchenko Glacier is the longest in the former USSR and the longest outside the Polar regions. The majestic lake Karakul is located in the nearby region.

Climate

The ranges are covered in snow throughout the year and has mainly alpine climate, the Pamirs are famous for having long and bitterly cold winters, and short, cool summers. Annual rainfall is about 130 mm (5 in), which supports grasslands but very few types of trees.

History

Historically, the Pamir Mountains were considered a strategic trade route between Kashgar(Xinjiang, China) and Kokand(Uzbekistan) on the legendary Silk Road, a prehistoric route, and had been subject to numerous territorial conquests. The Northern Silk Road connected the ancient Chinese capital of Xi’an over the Pamir Mountains towards the west to emerge in Kashgar before linking to ancient Parthia.

Potential

The region has massive tourism potential and many hiking enthusiasts, travelers, mountaineers and adventure seekers do visit this massive region. The region’s importance will only grow further due its unique strategic location.
