A Visit to Goa- The paradise

It was in 2017 when I was in the 10th Std. The first term exams were approaching. Every year my family and I go on an outing. Previously we went to Agra-Delhi-Haridwar-Jammu. A year before that, we visited the Tirupati temple and also traveled to Tamil Nadu. But since it was my 10th std this year, my parents were reluctant of planning a trip. I requested, almost begged because we hadn’t traveled in the summer vacation because of my ongoing classes. Also, the year was too hectic and I needed a break. After a lot of melodrama, my parents agreed.

My cousin’s and my family planned a trip together to Goa. We traveled by air to Goa and returned back by train. We reached Goa within an hour. That would have been the shortest journey so far. Since it was a late-night flight, having reached our hotels, we just slept. The next day after having our breakfast, we traveled to few places nearby. We could see the splendid beauty of nature. ‘Heaven’ as they say, truly, it is! We, then, went to a beach where we could go on a dolphin-watching boat tour. We wore the life jackets, boarded our boat, and maneuvered towards the open sea. After some time, we could literally see dolphins swimming to the surface of the water. Dolphin is one of the most charismatic sea dwellers. They were a feast for eyes. Besides, we could also gaze at Goa’s very old Portuguese jail and the Millioniers palace from our boat. It was a mesmerizing experience.

Dolphin Trip

We then went to Calangute beach. Unlike Mumbai’s beaches, Goan beaches were clean and beautiful, had clear water and the blissful faces of the exuberant people enjoying there made us even more excited. No sooner we reached the beach, than my cousins and I jumped into the water. We also tried water sports. My cousins and I did jet-skiing, while my dad and uncle did parasailing. We, indeed, had an amazing time there. Since no one was willing to move out from the beach, we spent the rest of the day on the beach itself. Then, tired and sleepy, we headed back to our hotel. Another day rises, bringing in more excitement. We now visited the old Goa church- The basilica of Bom Jesus. It is a Roman Catholic-basilica and a UNESCO world heritage site. It is popular as it holds the remains of St. Francis Xavier. It was colossal and a magnificent church, as beautiful and auspicious. Then we went to the Mangesh temple. It is a Shiv temple and the largest in Goa. This temple was built before the Portuguese invasion in the 1500s. Next, we headed towards the Dona Paula jetty. It was a beautiful view there. Open sky, sea-facing, and mild wind. It couldn’t get any better! But this day was quite sunny, and we had a tough time out in the sun.

Our third day was exclusively dedicated to site seeing. We visited various places across Goa and one of them was Aquada fort. The fort was originally constructed in 1612 to guard against the Dutch. It was a sea fort and we could gaze and enjoy the scenic beauty of nature as well as the sea. We then went shopping at the Panaji market. The market disappointed us though. We had heard a lot about it but it turned out like any other normal market you visit weekly. After the sunset, we went on a Cruise ship. As we got engrossed in watching the spellbinding view, the management, then, delighted us with live performances which included Goan and Konkani dances. The host later called everybody on the dance floor and we enjoyed ourselves a lot- dancing, clicking pictures, singing, etc. This was the end of our amazing trip. Indeed, Goa is a place not for a one-time visit, as your heart would want to visit here again and again!

What Is a TLD? Top-Level Domains

What Does Top-Level Domain (TLD) Mean?

Top-level domain (TLD) refers to the last segment of a domain name or the part that follows immediately after the “dot” symbol.

For example, in the internet address: https://www.google.com,  and Domain.com
the “.com” portion is the TLD.

TLDs are mainly classified into two categories: generic TLDs and country-specific TLDs.

Examples of some of the popular TLDs include:

.com
.org
.net
.gov
.biz
.edu.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), is the entity that coordinates domains and IP addresses for the internet.

Historically, TLDs represented the purpose and type of domain or the geographical area from which it originated. ICANN has generally been very strict about opening up new TLDs, but in 2010, it decided to allow the creation of numerous new generic TLDs as well as TLDs for company-specific trademarks.

Top-level domains are also known as domain suffixes.

Top-Level Domain (TLD)

ARPANET created TLDs to allow humans to ease the process of memorizing IP addresses. Instead of using a series of digits for each computer, the domain name system was established to organize addresses in a more user-friendly way.

In 1971, the first email was developed and sent using an “@” symbol. The “address” after the @ was not the domain but the actual computer it was sending to. In the early 1980s, when the earliest domains started being developed, the first TLDs such as .org and .com saw the light.

A top-level domain recognizes a certain element regarding the associated website, such as its objective (business, government, education), its owner, or the geographical area from which it originated.

Each TLD includes an independent registry controlled by a specific organization, which is managed under the guidance of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

ICANN recognizes the following types of TLDs:

Generic Top-Level Domains (gTLD)
These are the most popular types of TDLs. Some examples include “.edu” for educational sites and .”com” for commercial sites. These types of TLDs are available for registration.

Country-Code Top-Level Domains (ccTLD)
Every ccTLD recognizes a specific country and is generally two letters long. For example, the ccTLD for Australia is “.au”.

Sponsored Top-Level Domains (sTLD)
These TLDs are supervised by private organizations.

Infrastructure Top-Level Domains
There is only one TLD in this category, which is “.arpa”. The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority controls this TLD for the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).

In earlier times, the purpose of each TLD was specific, such as .com which was used only for commercial websites. Eventually, as the Internet kept growing and evolving, this restriction was abandoned, and now there’s almost no distinction between most TLDs.

However, some TLDs are reserved for some unique purposes even today, such as gTLDs that are assigned for educational institutions (.edu) and those assigned for government and the military (.gov and .mil).

Some of the TLDs and their original explanations are as follows:

.com — Commercial businesses.
.org — Organizations (generally charitable).
.net — Network organizations.
.gov — U.S. government agencies.
.mil — Military.
.edu — Educational facilities, like universities.
.th — Thailand.
.ca — Canada.
.au — Australia.

.in — India

How to Buy a Domain Name: Domain Registration Guide

If you want to start a blog or a new online business, you’ll need to register a domain name, the name for your website. Getting the right domain for your needs might sound technical at first, but the process is pretty simple.

This domain registration guide will tell you what you need to know about domain name extensions, how to choose the right one for your needs, and the steps you’ll need to take to check if a domain name is available and to register your domain.

What Is a Domain Name?

Every website on the internet has an IP address. These addresses point to a website’s location — think of them like GPS coordinates. The IP address, which is generally a set of numbers, usually resembles something like this:

Unfortunately, trying to remember all of those numbers in order to navigate to a website can be challenging. That’s where domain names step in and lend a hand.

A structure called the Domain Name System (DNS) translates those IP addresses into names that are (hopefully) simple to remember. Those names are called domain names.

Your website’s domain is what people enter into the address bar on their browsers to point it toward your website. In the simplest terms, if an IP address is your website’s GPS coordinates, the domain is its street address. Some examples are mailchimp.com and google.com.

When someone types a domain into a browser, it gets routed through a DNS server. That server translates the name to figure out which IP address it points to. Then it grabs the data for that website and delivers it to the browser. This process happens in a matter of seconds, letting you find and view a website fast.

Types of Domains

According to Verisign, there were over 360 million registered domains in 2019. The types you can buy vary greatly. To make the best choice, you need to first understand the anatomy of a domain, which is made of two main parts — a second-level domain (SLD) and a top-level domain (TLD).
Second-Level Domains (SLDs)

A second-level domain is what most people think of when they think of the name of a website. It’s the unique name that you choose to represent your brand because it’s the part that people will remember the most.

In a web address, an SLD appears just to the left of the extension, or top-level domain. It can contain as many letters, numbers, and special characters as you want, but it’s best to keep them short and easy.
Top-Level Domains (TLDs)

Top-level domains (TLDs) are also referred to as domain extensions. They’re the series of letters that appear at the right of your SLD, after the dot. The most popular ones include:
.com: Short for “commercial,” this was the first TLD launched, initially meant for business and commercial use. It’s still the most popular.
.net: Short for “network,” this was created for technology organizations, but it has become another common option for business website owners of all types.
.edu: Short for “education,” this TLD was created for universities, colleges, and other educational institutions. Today, it’s mostly associated with U.S. schools.
.org: Short for “organization,” this was developed for non-profit organizations but soon became popular among schools, communities, and for-profit enterprises.
.gov: Short for “government,” this was created strictly for U.S. government agency use.
.mil: Short for “military,” this TLD was developed solely for use by branches of the U.S. military.

There are also TLDs for different countries (.ca for Canada, for example) as well as niche domains like .coffee, .cheap, and .ninja. In all, there are more than 1,500 different TLDs to choose from, and the list continues to grow. But the cost for different TLDs vary. Some carry more “weight” than others, which should impact your decision when buying a domain.

How Much Does a Domain Name Cost?

When you buy a domain name through domain registrars, you register it for one year with the option of a multi-year registration. You will be able to renew your domain name registration when the initial period finishes, and will usually be alerted by the registrar to do so. Domain names are also sometimes included in your web hosting plan and if not, usually offered by your hosting company.

A domain name with a common top-level domain, such as .com, can be had for as low as $12.99 per year, and promotions are often available. Internet domains purchased through Mailchimp also come with free WHOIS privacy protection and a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate to provide your website with free verification and encryption.

You do need to have a web hosting plan to put your site online, but you don’t need to have hosting to purchase a domain. Assuming you have a business or blog name in mind, it’s possible to reserve your brand’s name for the future by purchasing and registering your domain name now. Then you’ll have plenty of time to consider how to build your website.

How to Choose a Domain Name

Since your domain name can have a major impact on your online presence, what you choose is a vital first step in building your brand. Finding the perfect domain name, however, can be challenging.

While it’s true that there are millions of domain names available, many of the popular domain names that are easy to remember are taken. Fortunately, you can still get what you need if you go through a simple process and use a bit of imagination.
Make It Brandable, Not Generic

Creative, memorable domain names are always better than generic ones. After all, your domain name is how people will find, remember, and spread the word about your business on the internet. It’s much better to have something that aligns with your brand instead of a domain name that’s made up of a bunch of general keywords.

For example, can you tell the difference between cheapcarinsurance.com and affordableautoinsurance.com? Which one would you trust when it comes to buying insurance? Probably neither. Both sound a little spammy, and they’re terribly generic.

On the other hand, you’ll probably know where the domain names progressive.com or geico.com are going to point you to. Those companies have invested in their brands, and they’ve used them in their domain names. You can trust that these sites are legitimate.

Even if you haven’t built up trust and loyalty yet, you can start by choosing a strong domain name that fits your brand.

Choose the Right Domain Extension

When picking the extension or TLD for your domain name, “.com” is still the best choice unless you have a reason to choose something else. Roughly 43% of all domains have a .com extension, making it what people expect to see the most.

While Google confirms that your choice of TLD will not impact rankings, it does affect consumer perception. Many people view other TLDs as less trustworthy.

That said, .net or .org extensions are not uncommon, so they can be good secondary options if you find the perfect name and the coveted .com isn’t available.

But if you do decide to go with an extension other than a .com, make sure you take a look at what type of website is currently on the .com extension. Someone is bound to go there accidentally while looking for your brand. If the site holds fishy or offensive content, you might want to steer clear of that name altogether.

Finally, avoid those niche domain name extensions like .space, .club, .pizza, unless you really think they’ll enhance your brand.

Watch Domain Length

When it comes to domain name length, shorter is better. Search engines — Google in particular — give preference to easy-to-understand and simple domain names that deliver what they promise. URLs that are filled with numbers and special characters can hurt search engine rankings.

Your domain name should be as short as possible while still capturing the concept of your website. Short domains are easier to read, take up less room on marketing materials, and have a better chance at sticking in visitors’ memories.

The downside to short domain names is that there are fewer of them available. But, if your brand name is 100% unique or has some other creative element to it, you might be able to find something to fit the bill.

So, what is an acceptable length? Aim for 6 to 14 characters with a focus on the shorter end of that range.

Make It Memorable

Whatever domain you choose should also be memorable. It should be simple enough for anyone to spell and type.

Not sure if your domain name is memorable? Tell it to 10 friends and ask them if they can spell it. If more than a few struggle, you need to pick something else.

Provided your chosen domain name passes that first test, make sure it’s also easy to pronounce for the sake of word-of-mouth promotion. Use that same “10 friends” test as a guide. Write the domain name down and ask your friends to pronounce it. If no one struggles, you have a winner.

Think about some popular websites like Yahoo, Amazon, Reddit, and Twitter. Each is short and easy to spell. If you choose poorly, there’s a good chance that many of your visitors are going to end up on someone else’s website.

Avoid Numbers and Hyphens

Imagine asking your 10 friends to spell or pronounce a domain name filled with numbers and dashes. It won’t work.

If you choose a domain name with these elements, you’re likely going to lose traffic to people who can’t remember your domain or effectively tell someone else how to find it. We probably wouldn’t have Facebook today if you had to go to Face-Book.com to reach the site.
Check for Trademark Infringement

Both major and minor brands alike take issue with others using their trademarked names. Even if you’ve just made an innocent mistake, the legal hassle involved in a lawsuit and having to rearrange your web presence could be costly.

You can avoid these situations by using a trademark lookup tool before you finalize your choice.
Future-Proof Your Domain Name

Domains and websites are long-term investments. That means you should avoid choosing a domain name that includes a year or the latest trendy catchphrase.

Think about where your business or brand might be in five or ten years. If you provide basic SEO services now, you might end up expanding your offerings as your business grows. So, using the words “marketing” or “digital marketing” might be better descriptors than “SEO services.”
Use a Domain Name Generator

If you’re not the creative type, you can use a domain name generator to help spark some ideas. Simply enter in some words or phrases that describe your brand or website, and these tools will give you a list of ideas that you can then check for availability.

Steps to Buying a Domain Name

Let’s assume you have a list of catchy, memorable, branded, and short domain names, and you’re ready to buy. Here are the steps for buying and registering your domain name.
1. Choose a Reliable Domain Registrar

To get a domain name, you should first find a registrar that is accredited with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), which is the nonprofit organization responsible for coordinating all of the numerical spaces on the internet. Mailchimp offers domains governed by ICANN.
2. Find a Domain Availability Checker Tool

The next step in your journey is a domain name search and should involve a domain availability checking tool. This will tell you if the domain you want, such as tinysgarage.com, is available or not.

3. Choose the Best Domain Name Option

When you’re checking for available domain names, you’ll often find that your first, second, and tenth choices are already taken. Some of the different approaches you can take when this happens are:
Keep searching. Let your creative juices flow, and continue to search until you find something you love — or at least like.
Choose another extension. If the .com isn’t available and you’re set on a certain name, consider the .net or .org if you think it will work.
Reach out to the owner. Maybe the domain is already owned, but it’s not being put to much use. You could reach out to the owner with an offer.

4. Purchase Your Domain Name and Complete Its Registration

During the checkout process, you’ll be required to enter your contact information, including an email address, to register the domain.

5. Verify Ownership of Your New Domain

Paying for your domain might seem like the last step in the process, but you also need to verify your ownership. This step lets you send email using the domain (myname@topnotchsales.com, for instance) and keeps other people from using it without your permission.

If you purchase your domain through marketplace, this process is simple. You’ll receive a verification email after you complete your purchase. Simply click on the Verify Domain button in the email and follow the instructions on the next page, and you can start using your domain to build your brand. You’ll only ever have to complete this step once.

Buying a Domain from Another Person

If the domain name you want is already owned, it might still be available. Assuming you find a name that you simply must have, here are the steps to complete a purchase:
1. Find the Owner’s Contact Information

Locate the owner of the domain by looking up their contact information through the WHOIS directory. If it isn’t listed, you may be able to contact them from information you find on the domain’s website.
2. Negotiate a Fair Price

Once you make contact, offer a fair price for the domain. If you aren’t sure about a price, do some research. You can even hire a broker to facilitate the deal on your behalf if you want the domain badly enough.
3. Complete the Sale Using Escrow

Avoid wiring money to a stranger on the internet. It’s just a bad idea. Instead, use an escrow service to ensure that both parties are satisfied and your sale is as low risk as possible.

Breaking Down the Myths on Self Harm

Self-harm is very common and affects more people than you might think. This means it’s likely that at least two young people in every secondary school classroom have self-harmed at some time, so if you are self-harming, you are not alone – lots of information and support is available.

Self-harm isn’t a suicide attempt or a cry for attention. However, it can be a way for some people to cope with overwhelming and distressing thoughts or feelings.  Self-harm should be taken seriously, whatever the reason behind it. It is possible to live without self-harm. It is important to know that you won’t always feel the way you do now. With the right help and support most people who self-harm can and do fully recover.

The self-harm cycle

Self-harm most frequently takes the form of cutting, burning or non-lethal overdoses, resulting to behavioral outbursts. It usually starts as a way to relieve the build-up of pressure from distressing thoughts and feelings, as a temporary relief from the emotional pain the person is feeling. It’s important to know that this relief is only temporary because the underlying reasons still remain. Soon after, feelings of guilt and shame might follow, which can continue the cycle.

The self-harm cycle

Because there may be some temporary relief at the start, self-harm can become someone’s normal way of dealing with life’s difficulties. This means that it is important to talk to someone as early as possible to get the right support and help. Learning new coping strategies to deal with these difficulties can make it easier to break the cycle of self-harm in the long term.

While it is true that anyone can be affected by self-harm, some people are more likely to self-harm than others because of things that have happened in their lives – where they live, things that are happening with friends, family or at school, or a combination of these. This means that some people are more at risk of self-harm than others. Some factors that might make someone more at risk are:

  • Experience of a mental health disorder. This might include depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, and eating disorders.
  • Being a young person who is not under the care of their parents, or young people who have left a care home.
  • Being part of the LGBT community.
  • Having been bereaved by suicide

Some people can manage these troubles by talking to friends and family, while others may find these difficulties overwhelming. When we don’t express our emotions and talk about the things that make us distressed, angry or upset, the pressure can build up and become unbearable. Some people turn this in on themselves and use their bodies as a way to express the thoughts and feelings they can’t say aloud, hoping that the pain they inflict upon themselves will distract them from their mental pain and negate it.

There are lots of myths attached to self-harm. Negative stereotypes can be powerful enough to hurt someone who’s already hurting.

MYTH: ‘Self-harm is attention-seeking’

One of the most common stereotypes is that self-harm is about ‘attention seeking’. This is not the case. Many people find it difficult to talk to anyone about what they are going through for a long time and it can be very hard for them to find enough courage to ask for help, hence they find self arm the easiest way to let all the pain out.

MYTH: ‘Self-harm is a goth thing

Self-harm has been stereotyped to be seen as part of youth subcultures such as “goth” or “emo”. There is no conclusive evidence of this with little or no evidence supporting the belief that self-harm is part of any particular young person subculture. A certain way someone dresses has no connection to one’s mental state. Dressing up all black with pierced and inked skin and dark eye makeup doesn’t mean you cannot be happy, or living in a rich or posh family doesn’t mean you can’t be hurting. Human mind works in different ways and stereotyping our upbringings doesn’t do justice to it.

MYTH: ‘Only girls self-harm’

It is often assumed that girls are more likely than boys to self-harm, but boys aren’t heartless. It doesn’t necessarily mean that if a boy is unable to express his feelings, they aren’t worth heard about and dealt with.

MYTH: ‘People who self-harm must enjoy it’

Some people believe that people who self-harm take pleasure in the pain or risk associated in the behavior. The term “harm” means pain. For some, being depressed has left them numb and they want to feel anything to remind them they are alive, even if it hurts, because sometimes emotions can be overwhelming enough to make you vulnerable to an extent that you choose harming yourself for the sake of feeling something instead of talking it out. Nobody would voluntarily want to hurt themselves in their normal state of mind.

MYTH: ‘People who self-harm are suicidal’

Self-harm is sometimes viewed as a suicide attempt by people who don’t understand it. For many people self-harms is about trying to cope with difficult feelings and circumstances. Some people have described it is a way of staying alive and surviving these difficulties, some look at it as punishment for the deeds they regret doing. However, some people who self-harm can feel suicidal and might attempt to take their own life.

People often link self-harm to suicide but for me it was something very different; it was my alternative to suicide, my way of coping even though sometimes I wished that my world would end.

Yes. Talking to someone is the first step to getting out of the cycle.

Telling someone about your self-harm shows strength and courage; it can often be a huge relief to be able to let go of such a secret, or at least share it.

One shouldn’t be afraid to ask for help whenever and however they need to. Talking about your feelings isn’t a sign of weakness, it shows that you are taking charge of your well-being and doing what you need to stay healthy. It isn’t always easy to express how you are feeling. Talking can be a way of coping with a problem you’ve been carrying around in your head for a while. Feeling listened to can help you feel more supported and knowing that you aren’t alone in this.

I’ve tried so many distraction techniques – from writing down my thoughts, hitting a pillow, listening to music, writing down pros and cons. But the most helpful to my recovery was the five minutes rule, where if you feel like you want to self-harm, you wait for five minutes before you do it, then see if you can go another five minutes, and so on till eventually the feeling that you need to is over.

Many people stop hurting themselves when the time is right for them. Everyone is different and if they feel the need to self-harm at the moment, they shouldn’t feel guilty about it – it is a way of surviving, and doing it now does NOT mean that they will need to do it forever. It is a huge step towards stopping when they begin to talk about it, because it means that they are starting to think about what might take its place eventually.

Celebrity Endorsements

Impact of Celebrity Endorsement on Consumer Buying Behavior

Celebrities can influence the taste, preference and beliefs of the public. They can make powerful Influence in the minds of consumers about the product and services which they endorse. A popular face can communicate more than any advertisement using a model. It will lead to mass brand sale. Companies use stars to endorse any products and services like food, soft drinks, soaps, perfumes, hair oil, cosmetics, home appliances, mobile networks, mobile phones, electronic equipment, health products, automobile etc. Even political parties are influenced by the charisma of stars because of the magnetism of stars in the country. In the recent parliament election major political parties fielded a record number of stars from different constituencies around the country. South Indian star Nagma, Innocent and Suresh Gopi from Malayalam industry, Anitha Prathap from media competed in election.

Factors of successful celebrity branding

1)            Consistency and long-term Commitment

As with branding, companies should try to maintain consistency between the endorser and the brand to establish a strong personality and identity. More importantly, companies should view celebrity endorsements as long-term strategic decisions affecting the brand. A global must respect local needs, wants, and tastes while endorsing.

2)            Prerequisites to Selecting Celebrities

Before signing on celebrities to endorse their brands, companies need to ensure that they meet three basic prerequisites, namely the endorser should be attractive, have a positive image in society, and be perceived as having the necessary knowledge (although it might be difficult for a celebrity to meet all three prerequisites.

3)            Celebrity-Brand match

Companies should ensure a match between the brand being endorsed and the endorser so that the endorsements are able to strongly influence the thought process of consumers and create a positive perception of the brand. Tiger Woods endorsing the Buick brand makes no sense at all. There is just no believability that Tiger is dying to drive a Buick. And without believability celebrity endorsement is worthless.

4)            Constant monitoring

Companies should monitor the behavior, conduct and public image of the endorser continuously to minimize any potential negative publicity.

5)            Selecting Unique Endorsers

Great brands represent great ideas. These brands express the uniqueness of position to all internal and external audiences. Companies should try to bring on board those celebrities who do not endorse competitors’ products or other quite different products, so that there is a clear transfer of personality and identity between the endorser and the brand. The controversy related to the endorser’s personal or professional life must hamper the associated brand image. Kobe Bryant’s family-friendly endorsement deals with Nutella and McDonald’s came to a quick end after he was accused of rape.

6)            Timing

As celebrities command a high price tag, companies should be on the constant lookout for emerging celebrities who show some promise and potential and sign them on in their formative years.

The benefits of celebrity branding

  • Attracts the attention: Celebrity ensures attention by breaking the clutter of ads and makes the brand more noticeable.
  • Establishes credibility: celebrities create a sense of trust for the brand among target audience. It will be more helpful to new products.
  • Associative benefit: When the celebrity prefers the product it helps to create a persuasion to the target audience. It creates a feeling that as the celebrity benefits from the brand the consumer will also benefit.
  • Psychographic connect: Stars are loved and respected by the public, so the advertisers use stars to capitalize the feeling to turn the fans towards their brand.
  • Demographic connect: Stars represent different demographic segments like age, gender, class, geography etc.
  • Mass Appeal: Stars have universal appeal can make interest among these masses.

Some of the famous materials used for dinnerware sets are Bone China, Porcelain, Earthenware, Ceramic, and many more. Read on to have a detailed look at the types of materials.

Bone China

Bone China is the perfect type of dinnerware for both daily use and formal dinners. It is durable, stylish, comes in many designs and colors. It is generally thin,  lightweight, and chip-resistant. In addition to its qualities, it is microwave safe and can be easily washed in a dishwasher. It has an elegant appearance and is better than fine china.

Earthenware

One of the oldest types of dinnerware sets that gives a casual appeal. Earthenware gives slight durability and adds value to the dinner set. It also provides a significant weight to the dishes. But make sure you avoid high temperature changes that may damage the look of the material. Keep the microwave at low temperature settings while using earthenware. It is affordable but not as suitable for daily use as others.

Porcelain

Porcelain is the most common type of dinnerware material and the best for daily use purposes. This amazing type of material is dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe. It provides wonderful durability and appealing designs. Porcelain has a non-porous surface that gives an amazing texture. It is difficult to manufacture. But it is less expensive than Bone China and is easily affordable.

Ceramic

Ceramic is specifically not a type of material but it is considered as a class containing different types of china and porcelain. It is generally white in appearance but ranges in color from white to blue. White also has many different shades in ceramic, like off-white and others.

Stoneware

Stoneware is made from the same materials as porcelain but in different ratios. This makes it more heavy weight and sometimes it has a texture. This material may have speckles on it which gives a beautiful look to the plates and dishes. It generally comes with an off-white body. It is durable and user friendly. It is good for regular use as well as dinner parties. But they need to be kept at normal temperatures and away from both freezing or very high temperatures.

Melamine

Melamine is used for outdoor purposes as it is unbreakable. It is hard to break or chip. It is dishwasher safe but unfortunately not microwave or oven safe.

Sizes of Dinnerware sets

CONSTITUTIONAL PROVISIONS RELATED TO ENVIRONMENT

Environmental legislation are often defined as, a set of laws and regulations which are aimed toward protecting the environment from harmful actions. In both the international commitments and constitutional framework of India, the need for protection and conservation of environment is reflected.

Constitutional Provisions

By the Constitution (Forty-Second Amendment) Act, 1976 , Article 48A was added as a part of Directive Principles of State Policy and Article 51A as a fundamental duty of every citizen of India.

Article 51A under Part IV A of the Indian constituition talks about the 11 fundamental duties that are expected to be performed by the citizens of India. One of these is to protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers and wildlife, and to have compassion for living creatures. Furthermore, Article 48 A, of the Directive Principles of State Policy (DPSP) enumerated in Part IV of the Indian Constitution says that the State shall aspire to protect and improve the environment and to conserve the forests and wildlife of the country.

Some of International Conventions for Environment Protection to which India is a Signatory :

Stockholm Convention

The objective of the convention is to target additional POPs for action, supporting safer alternatives, and make a POPs-free future. It calls to ban nine of the dirty dozen chemicals (key POPs), limit the use of DDT to malaria control. As per Article 25(4), India ratified the Convention in 2006.

Montreal Protocol 1987

The Montreal Protocol was negotiated and signed by 197 parties in 1987 with the aim to control the consumption and production of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) which is responsible for Ozone Layer depletion.

The adoption of the 2016 Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol is projected to reduce future global average warming in 2100 due to hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) from a baseline of 0.3–0.5°C to less than 0.1°C.

United Nations Framework Convention on climate change (UNFCCC)

It was signed in 1992 at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development ( Earth Summit, the Rio Summit or the Rio Conference). The parties to the convention meet annually at the Conference of the Parties (COP) to review the progress under the convention. It aims to achieve stabilization concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere at a certain level that would prevent the climate.

United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)

It was established in 1994 with the aim to take care of and restore land and soil productivity, and to minimise impact of drought.

Indian schools of philosophy a retaliation for the western school of thought?

The Hindu philosophy is categorized into six Orthodox and three Heterodox philosophies. The classification is based on the acceptance of the authority of the Vedas. The Orthodox school of philosophy also called the Aastika School believes in the authority of Vedas, while the Heterodox school of philosophy, popularly known as Nastika School rejects the principle of authority of Vedas. While the western schools of thoughts came up one after the other, with the only aim of destructing the existing thought process and establishing a new totally different way of thinking. In other words, the western schools were never complimentary to each other while the Indian schools sprouted and nurtured giving
each other a stand to hold on. Rasa is generally regarded as the corner stone of Indian Aesthetics. Rasa implies aesthetic emotion. The earliest work of Indian aesthetics is Bharatha’s ‘Natya Sastra’. It consists of a few instructions to the actors about present plays. In the course of discussion, Bharatha remarks that the aim of presenting a play is to evoke Rasa. Rasa, according to him, is the product of the combination of the Vibhavas, Anubhavas and the Vyabhicharibhavas. While the western philosophy concentrated on authors intention, structure, semantics, semiology and other highly technical aspects. Indian philosophy concentrates on the universalization of poetics. Universalization of poetic art is of two kinds. First of all, the aesthetic composition presents before our minds an aesthetic situation and an emotion, free from its local character. Secondly, the expression of this artistic enlightenment has a universal character in its manifestation in different minds. In the next stage this presented whole, becomes mingled with various types of subconscious and unconscious feelings which are lying dormant in the minds of various people. But we do not find any trace of any local character or colour with the real objective world around it. It is therefore, called transcendental, i.e., Alaukika or Camatkara. While the western philosophy school almost dissipates this possibility by ensuring such elements that make it connect to surroundings of the work is not done.
As per the Indian aesthetics, the beauty of literature is related to the synthesis of law and liberty. A literary work is presented in the medium of language. Hence it is certainly subjected to the rule of language. However, the beauty of a work of art is beyond these considerations. In fact, the laws are the wings of literature with which it soars high in the horizon of meaning. This synthesis of law and liberty is achieved by the judicious use of the elements of suggestion or Vyanjana. The concept of Vyanjana explains how meaning expands far beyond the literal sense. The language of poetry is different from the language of ordinary discourse. It is characterized by ‘suppression in expression’. Beauty in literature is best generated by the technique of Vyanjana or the suggested meaning. In the words of Kuntaka, Vakrokti or indirect expression generates beauty in poetry. According to Anandavardhana, the soul of poetry is suggestion. This concept is encapsulated in his maxim ‘Kavyasyatma Dhvani’. Words have different orders of signatory power. They have primary or literal meaning as well as contextual and suggested meaning. The primary meaning is referred to as ‘Abidha’ and the contextual meaning is called ‘Lakshnna’. Vyanjana is the suggested meaning. Concealment is the essence of Vyanjana. Poetry generates beauty by suppression in expression. Concealment arouses curiosity and the urge to unravel which leads to conquest. In poetry, only the implicit, indirect and suggested language is capable of producing beauty. This suggested language is called Vakrokti. Vakroti presents before the Sahridaya an indeterminate range of meaning to be explored. The greatness of poet lies in his mastery over the technique of suggestion.
A sentence may express something over and above the meaning of the words that constitute the sentence. The relation between the various words is unexpressed. This relation is referred to as Samsarga by the Naiyayikas of ancient India. Samsarga is Vakyartha. How Samsarga is expressed is not satisfactorily explained. In sentences, there is a juxtaposition of words. The element of the relation between words is conveyed by suppression. The essential part of every judgement is conveyed by suppression. This shows how the Indian schools of thought were already in an elevated state way before the introduction of western philosophical schools. The absence of manuscripts and the lack of ability to translate the ancient texts has truly hindered the growth of Indian philosophy into a universally recognized one.

Human rights and armed conflict

Armed conflicts

Numerous armed conflicts are currently taking place around the globe, cost of which goes beyond the numbers deaths but it also includes the victims of the consequences of war.The number of indirect victims of armed conflicts is much higher than that of direct deaths.  Indirect death is mainly caused by some preventable infectious diseases, undernourishment , and pregnancy-related conditions. In addition to deaths, armed conflicts also lead to undernourishment, increased infant mortality rates, forced migration, refugees, destruction of infrastructure.

International armed conflict, internationalized armed conflict, and non-international armed conflict are the three types of conflicts recognized by International humanitarian law.

Human rights

“Human rights” can be defined as rights of all human beings, regardless of nationality, residence, gender, ethnic origin, race, religion, language or any other status. Everyone is equally entitled to their human rights without any discrimination. This belief is fairly new and it stems from an evolution of the reflection of human dignity over the past centuries.

After World War II, stronger ideas of human rights emerged . People wanted to make sure that they never again be unjustly denied freedom, food, and shelter. The calls for human rights standards to protect citizens from abuses by their governments, came from different parts of the world. These voices played an important role in the San Francisco meeting that drafted the United Nations Charter in 1945. United Nations was then established with the primary goal of maintaining international peace and preventing conflict.

International humanitarian law

Human rights during armed conflicts are infringed upon the most. Therefore, over the years, there has been much focus on the formulation of mechanism aimed at alleviating human suffering armed conflicts. International law of armed conflicts, of which humanitarian law is a part, tries to provide protection to victims of war and crimes.

FIBONACCI SEQUENCE! THE MAGIC!!!

Though mathematics is an interesting and beautiful subject, most of us find it difficult to learn. We often learn mathematics to do calculations and learn formulas to get good grades in the exams. Mathematics is a wonderful subject which we tend to apply in our day-to-day life. If you see maths through a different dimension, it will be as interesting as social media. We learn so many formulas and theorems, but where do we apply them? Think and come to a solution to make mathematics an interesting one. To prove mathematics an interesting subject, here come the Fibonacci numbers. Most of us have heard it once or twice in our classes when our teacher says about it. If you love to play with numbers, then Fibonacci numbers are the one. Let’s see how interesting these Fibonacci Numbers are!!

The Fibonacci Sequence in Nature

Fibonacci numbers are numbers, such that each number is the sum of the two preceding numbers starting from 0 and 1. The Fibonacci numbers or Fibonacci sequence are first used in the book, Liber Abaci, by Fibonacci which is used in the calculation of the growth of the rabbits. The Fibonacci numbers are closely related to the golden ratio. The ratio of the two consecutive Fibonacci numbers gives the golden ratio as n increases. {Golden Ratio: 1.61803398875}. Though, Liber Abaci contain the earliest description outside India, Indian mathematicians are the ones who described Fibonacci sequence as early as the sixth century.

Fibonacci Sequence

The Fibonacci day is celebrated on November 23rd every year. If we write it in mm/dd format, 11/23; it is also a Fibonacci number. The name Fibonacci is named after its inventor, Leonardo of Pisa, commonly known as Fibonacci was an Italian Mathematician, who was famous for his invention in the history of mathematics.

Leonardo of Pisa, commonly known as Fibonacci (1170 – 1250)

Let’s see the Fibonacci sequence with the example of rabbit, A farmer put a pair of rabbits on a closed surface. How many rabbits can be produced from the pair in a year, if it is that every month each pair produces a new pair which from the second month on becomes productive? The solution is the Fibonacci sequence. The sequence will go on like   1, 1, 2, 3, 5,….. and so on.

FIBONACCI SEQUENCE IN NATURE!!

  • In some flowers, the petals are arranged in the Fibonacci sequential arrangement which is enough to prove that Fibonacci sequences are available in nature too.
  • In the branches of plants, the leaves are spirally arranged in the Fibonacci sequence arrangement. In small plants, it will be 5 or 8. In larger ones, it will be 8 or 13 based on the growth of the plant.
  • The pattern of the seeds within the sunflower follows the Fibonacci sequence (1,1,2,3,5, …..).
The nature of design: the Fibonacci sequence and the Golden Ratio - Cleveland Design

Fine! Till now, we saw what is a fibonacci sequence, and who is the inventor and where can we see this fibonacci series. Now, shall we see where these fibonacci sequence are used practically? Yeah! Come on!

IN MATHEMATICS,

  • The Fibonacci numbers occur in the sum of the shallow diagonals of Pascal’s triangle.
Fibonacci sequence and Pascal’s triangle
  • The Fibonacci sequence is also used in the Pythagoras theorem. The hypotenuse of the triangle can be a Fibonacci number.
  • The Fibonacci sequence is also used in the network topology for parallel computing.

IN COUMPUTER SCIENCE,

  • The Fibonacci numbers are important in the analysis of algorithms (computational run-time analysis) of Euclid’s algorithm.
  • Its also used in the common factor tree method that is called a binary tree method which is the Fibonacci number minus one.
  • This Fibonacci sequence also used in the game called poker, it is a step in the game development.

Fibonacci sequence are used not only in these two fields but also in many other fields. To put it simply, I have given these two fields. As we saw earlier, fibonacci sequence can also be seen in nature. While contructing tall buildings, climb up and see from the top, this is also an example of a fibonacci sequence.

Algorithms 101: Climbing stairs in JavaScript | by Joan Indiana Lyness | JavaScript in Plain English

These are the various interesting facts in the Fibonacci sequence. It’s just a small part of mathematics. If we take an interest in various parts or topics in mathematics, we can make maths an interesting one. Mathematics is an ocean, where Fibonacci sequence is a small fish in it. Let’s try to catch various fishes like the Fibonacci sequence and make our lives a great one. If you find it interesting, just do some more research and excite by yourself like how I got excited!!

DO NOT GIVE UP THE BEGINNING IS ALWAYS THE HARDEST

EVERYONE IS CAPABLE OF CREATING THE LIFE THEY WANT;YES WE ARE CAPABLE OF ANYTHING ONLY IF WE BELIEVE THAT BECASE  WITH BELIEF COMES TO ACTION AND WITH BELIEF COMES POSSIBILITIES.

WHEN WE ARE OPEN TO LEARNING MORE….THEN WE ARE WILLING TO WORK FOR IT…

AND WE THRUST OUR INTUITION & FOLLOW OUR HEARTS…..WELL,THEN ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!NEVER EVER GIVE UP!

In order to understand the attitude ,read this amazing motivational story .this is very interesting ,so make sure to read till the end.

Once a foreigner came to india and he was enjoying sightseening on the outskirts of kerala , a beautiful city of south india .he then entered a temple which was in under construction.

He stops nearby a man who was a sculptor busy in making an idol with his brush and few tools. There was another similar idol lying nearby the sculptor.in confusion ,the foreigner asked the sculptor.

“ i can’t see any mistake in the first idol ,where is it ,can you please let me know”

While brushing the second idol ,the sculptor replied “please see ,the nose of the first idol is damaged and it cannot be repaired”

The foreigner said,” okay….. Where will it be installed?”

Sculptor answered” it will be installed at the 200 feet above the temple building”

The foreigner smiled sarcastically and said to sculptor” if this idol will be installed so high then obviously no one would be able to see the damaged nose of the idol .why are you wasting time in creating this second idol?”

The sculptor smiled and said “yes…..you are right.no one will be able to see that damaged nose but i know it and  every time when i will see that idol ,the guilt of building a damaged idol will hunt me.”

Guys ,excellent means perfection and you have to be  perfect in anything you do in life ,no matter what .excellence drives from inside and you have to realize it.

Excellence is not something that you want to show off but it should be from your inner self.no matter what you do in your life ,you should be satisfied from inside.

One thing you have to understands is if you don’t do it with complete excellence ,don’t do it all because if it is not excellent then it will not be profitable or fun.

We are what we repeatedly do and excellence, therefore ,is not an act ,it’s a habit.

This story clearly shows that life presents changes to all of us .success is no accident but it is hard work, preseverance ,learning ,and sacrifice .a dream doesn’t become reality through magic.

It takes sweat ,determination ,and hard work .humans are creatures of habit .if you quit when things get tough ,it gets much easier to quit the next time.

On the other hand ,if you force yourself to push through it ,the grit begins to grow in you .so ,my dear friends believe in the end.

Always remember strength doesn’t come from winning ,your hard work and struggles in life develop your real strengths.

When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender ,that is call strength ,what is one piece of advice we can give to the young guns of this new era? It is indeed never give up.

Nowadays ,many students are too afraid to dream of how great their life can be because of other people .they offer them numerous example of what can go wrong.

Hey ,give plenty of examples of how hard life is ,the struggles in life….. But there is no need to believe in that.

“BELIVE YOUR SELF,NEVER EVER GIVE UP”.

Internet- Boon or Bane

Photo by Teona Swift on Pexels.com

INTERNET stands for Interconnected Network that is a network system that connects millions of web servers. . Let us simply know its definition first. Internet is a hug network that connects computers all over the world. It has become the most significant medium for sharing information and communication from anywhere in the world.

Internet got introduced in India in 1986 but it took a decade to make it available for the public. VSNL first launched the internet in India on August 15, 1995. Today it has taken such a place in our life that a person can manage anything but they can’t survive without internet.

Recently, a study reported that the number of IP addresses has crossed the total limit, with the increase in the number of internet users across the world. With this huge development in this field one question also remains whether Internet is a boon or bane? For this we can have different opinions because some people consider it as a boon as they are just seeing the advantages and entertainment they are being provided by the internet while the rest will have some other arguments.

Everything has some pros and cons so as the internet. We can get alot of opportunities through the internet we can carry our business at a global level ,we can entertain ourself and also education can be provided by the internet and many more else . But on the other hand we are aware of various incidents that take place regularly of cyber crimes which is a big threat amd virus can also enter in our system which will also disturb our information and harm our privacy.

Internet is one the biggest tool that is making our life very easy. Just think if in this COVID-19 there will be no internet how will you get yourself updated? And attend your online classes? So its basically important that the reason and the time period for which internet is used must be the priority concern and it must be used with all the necessary precautions to keep it as a problem solver instead of a problem creator.

I sometimes wonder how we spent leisure time before satellite television and Internet came along…and then I realise that I have spent more than half of my life in the ‘dark ages’!
