me and my world both got tilted

Hellooooo guys !!!

oh! you may get doubtful about how I am writing this article if both me and and my world are both tilted right now.

Just kidding guys😄

I have to tell you guys a secret shhhh🤫 come closer to the screen guys . Actually the thing is….

I am a” warrior” you don’t believe do you? want to know how?

Actually I am an undergraduate student during this pandemic ,haha 😆sorry my jokes are also tilted.

I thought a lot about what should I be writing so you may get to know how my perspective changed after the pandemic that is as my title says.

After this pandemic everyone’s life became a big mess .Many people lost their lives, livelihood ,their loved ones, there is alot of negative things happening around which is quite depressing
This situation tilted every one’s lives .

Coming to the point “lockdown” is the term we are now most familiar with

so in this lockdown what did you do?

I just lazed on my couch, attended online classes, not to mention watching my favourite kdramas ,listening to kpop ,reading my favourite webtoon, manhwas and surfing through the net.

We all are experiencing the situation that the male lead in “old boy” movie faced , for those of you who are not familiar with the movie I recommend it its a very good thriller. The so called tilt in our world caused by pandemic is the reason why we can relate to the character in the movie.

Similarly seasons passed while I was lazing on my couch too , I mean the seasons in web series.
Here we go again with my silly jokes.
I know most of them can relate to our binge watching the series days, the so called boring days, the days we had to find something to keep ourselves busy.

But thinking about this in my tilted world , I enjoyed my time by spending with my family ,had online meetings with my friends, joined online classes (obviously for attendance) .

People are learning new courses ,they are trying to find new hobbies such as learning musical instruments, dance ,arts and so on…, they started learning cooking ,they are trying various things ,they are doing trends, making video challenges ,starting their vlogs and writing blogs.

People are finding new talents that even they weren’t aware of them before.

Myself, themselves ,and ourselves ,each and everyone one us are finding something new about the so called “self”.

“There’s always an opportunity with crisis. Just as it forces an individual to look inside himself, it forces a company to reexamine its policies and practices.”

Judy Smith

So my point is in this pandemic people’s perspective of viewing the world changed.

Why don’t we also try to change our perspectives and view this pandemic as chance given to us , to find the magic that has been lost in our daily stressful lives, why don’t we slow down our pace and take a look at the world we are living in we are breathing in.
Why don’t we try to change ourselves and try to adapt into this new tilted world
Finding the “new tilted selves”.

Hope and despair are the two different sides of the same coin so when we toss the coin the chance is half and half but why don’t we grasp this opportunity and stick to the hopeful side of the coin.

I know its easier to fall rather than to climb, its harder to view a negative thing in a positive light.

My point is as the world is already tilted why don’t you try to tilt yourselves and your perspectives ,that is utilising this time to know what do you enjoy? ,what is your strength’s and weaknesses? ,what do you like what you don’t like ? ,what is the so called yourself that you always speak about?.

What is the “new tilted self” that you found ?

Ask these questions to your selves and try to answer those questions even if you didn’t find the answers no rush go in your own pace and you will find them automatically.

I know you are going to be okay.so cheer up ,you can do it!!
And thanks for visiting my tilted world and sparing your time .😊

STOCKDALE PARADOX- NEVER LOSING FAITH HEREAFTER ?

“You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end- which you can never afford to lose- with discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.” –                                       Admiral James Stockdale

No one knows when the current situation will get over, but everyone needs a 360 degree approach in life now. From facing the harshness to sometimes dealing with stress and pessimism a lot has changed since the pandemic arrived at out doorstep. We have lost interest in everything we used to do, surely this pandemic has taught us to deal with our own selves, to not lose hope and be optimistic till the end. But is being optimistic good enough ? Being pessimistic without doing anything is the same as being optimistic without taking a course of action.

The answer surely lies in what we call Stockdale paradox.

Stockdale paradox is a concept which was used by Jim Collins in his book ‘Good to Great’. He ones met a renowned Admiral James Stockdale who was a highest ranking US military officer on Hanoi camp, Prisoner of war during Vietnam war.  He was held for 8 years in the camp from 1965 to 1973 and tortured several times. In his interview with Jim Collins he recounted his experiences of sheer brutality with which he was treated, without any rights of prisoners, with no release date and uncertainty of getting out.

When he was asked how he lived with the hope of not getting out, his answer was very different from the optimists who always proposed a date of their release and were very confident and positive about their freedom, but in the end died. He said he never lost faith in the end of the story. Have faith but be ready to face the brutalities that life has imposed on you. He didn’t depend on blind optimism alone but did what was required to improve his chances of survival. He raised morale of his fellow mates, helped them in every way possible and exchanged secret information with his wife through letters.

The present times demand us to be positive and hopeful that everything will become normal in the coming days. But sitting at our comfort zones and just waiting for time to turn in our favor is folly. We can instead spend this time on productive activities which can help us fulfill our goals. We can take efforts to heal ourselves by finding ways to reduce mental agonies, helping and supporting others, comforting and giving hopes to those who have faced uncertainties.

How can we apply Stockdale paradox in our life –

  1. We all want to be successful, happy and fulfill all our wishes, but reaching this state won’t come simply by being positive. We feel good about this attitude and that’s why love the way motivational speakers influence our minds by changing our life simply by changing our mindset from negative to positive. That is well and good but that is not the only thing required. There must be a sense of self-awareness about the realities and action towards something that moves you in the first place. Confronting situation is fundamental to success along with a bit of positive attitude.
  2. Applying this paradox in business- Optimism drives innovation and can lead to growth but one needs to check whether you are playing in reality and not heading towards something that can’t happen.
  3. The Stockdale paradox can help any leader to improve leadership and plan for forthcoming challenges. It makes us resilient through idea of positivity and confrontation of unpleasant facts of the current situation.

So, try applying this principle in your life and make things work out for yourselves.

Covid-19: We shall overcome.

A call for unity, action: COVID-19 and principles of responsibility, hope - Opinion - Chinadaily.com.cn

“You may not always have a comfortable life and you will not always be able to solve all of the world’s problems at once but don’t ever underestimate the importance you can have because history has shown us that courage can be contagious and hope can take on a life of its own.”

– Michelle Obama

It’s been almost two years since this  pandemic started. In all these months there have been so many changes in around us and worldwide that we’d never imagine. All that we could find was terrifying news and negativity all over. It’s easy to run over and over the topics that are stressing us out- be that the corona virus pandemic, climate change or something else. People have lost their loved ones, people are facing mental health issue due to this and the economic condition of the country is going for a toss. Essential and health service workers are over burdened with duties yet they aren’t stopping. We need to support them, we need to stay positive and the ray of hope needs to stay.  Connect with your family members, follow the social distancing norms and make your days productive. In times like these people find meditation  and mindfulness really peaceful.Sitting ideally at home would only remind you of the terrifying situation outside, instead try being constructive- learn a new skill, exercise for some time, connect with your family and friends through social media, read books or listen to some music. Utilize your time wisely.  Don’t let negativity ruin your day.  If it’s possible from your part then please try to contribute something to the society, this isn’t the time to be selfish. Indeed it’s a really difficult time for all of us but it’s our unity that matters. We”ll get over this soon, things will get back to normal. Let’s stand together and fight this!

Procrastination -A failure

Procrastination can stop your growth
Procrastinate now and panic later

It’s Saturday evening and you are working furiously on a task which you have to complete before seven (deadline )and started cursing yourself for not starting it sooner.

Does it sound familiar? So ,why did this happened?

May be you wasted your time in the tea break watching TV and other stuff delayed your tasks and postpone it for later.

You are not alone many people are facing this problem nowdays. We give time to another things instead of doing the things which is important and avoid it and postponed it for later and at last we are not able to succeed in the task which was given to us.
Do you know, why this happened? Is it only a coincidence? No you procrastinate from the task which you had given and ignore it.
Being procrastinate is also a failure it usually happens because of lack of motivation and fear of failure .
Procrastination makes us lazy and we never achieve our goal .We get afraid before trying anything and ended up with no results. It is a wastage of time and time is the most important in a person life like how effectively they utilize the time they have .

If we keep procrastinating so we will never achieve our goal ‘it has nothing to do with time management’, without even a start we give up .Procrastination is self defeating behavior we avoid the tasks and put them off we do not believe and enjoy them and avoid to make ourself unhappy and have a fear of failure but doing this will never help us in self development if we keep delaying or postponing our tasks at last we only received disappointments by ourself. Only avoiding things will never help us out so just starts enjoy your work from now on things take time if we get afraid without trying so it will never help us out and we  can’t run from that  just let go of our fear .So,  just start from now either its’ Now or never ‘don’t procrastinate and run from the things which is important to you. Psychology  says to overcome from procrastination is

▶get rid of catastrophizing

▶focus on your ”why”.

▶self believe

▶dont make excuses

Try to start the task as soon as possible for better results.
Start believing in yourself and make to overcome from procrastination successfully, you need to figure out why you procrastinate & how your procrastination is preventing from achieving your goal ,so you can formulate a concrete plan of action and execute it better to check out that you are following your plan time to time, and keep focused for what you are doing now never forward your work for later in unnecessary situation.
#doitnowornever

Don't give up without trying it
Never give up without trying

Hope – The essence of our soul

https://tse1.mm.bing.net/th?id=OIP.z5zfExYtgomYCLt-GK059gHaDy&pid=Api&P=0&w=303&h=156

“ Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness. It whispers, You will overcome this hardship. It reassures us, soothing our minds by reminding, life will improve.”                                                                           – Desmond Tutu

As I was reading a newspaper, a thought came to my mind that made me conscious of the fact that almost every other page in the newspaper nowadays has headline surrounded by depressing and terrifying words. Every day we come across such articles that leave us thoughtful and make our mind accustomed to these negativities that we are surrounded by in the present times. The news of rising cases, increasing death rates and lack of infrastructure facilities makes our feelings frightening and dejected. Everyday we question ourselves when will this be over and when can we get back to our normal lives.

As lord Krishna has rightly said “Change is the law of universe. What you think of as death, is indeed life. In one instance you can be a millionaire, and in the other instance you can be steeped in poverty”. Times have shown that humanity has always adapted itself to extraordinary circumstances. The present ongoing pandemic situation has proved that no matter what the situation becomes our lives will always be governed by hope and affirmation.

Hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. Hope is a symbol of positivity, expectations and joy. It is closely linked to our health, well-being, mental state and situations that surround us. It is like a flower blossoming with the thorns. Hope is linked to trust. When you are hopeful you are believing that something positive will happen, when you are hopeful about future you trust your own choices and decisions, when you trust someone you have a hope that they will never betray your trust. Every action of ours signifies hope, the trust that when you go to bed you will wake up with cheerful mind is itself a hope.

Hope makes us believe that things will get better, that every situation in life is temporary and every dark day is accompanied by positivity and happiness. It changes our perspective and allows for healing and wholeness for ourselves and for others.

According to Charles R Snyder, a psychologist, hope includes three elements: a goal, a path and freedom of choice. A person who is hopeful believes that he/she will succeed. The person has a specific destination and knows the route that he has to take to reach the desired outcome. Hope is a mindset, determination and will to believe that you can overcome your difficulties.

Hope acts as a remedy for all sorts of hardships and misfortunes. It enables us to cope with stressful events, like demise of our near and dear ones. It motivates us to carry on our activities with zeal and enthusiasm. It assists the sick person in getting well, encouraging them to do what it takes to recover. It makes our mind believe that everything will get better with time.

The more you look for hope the more you find it. We can find hope and joy in many things .

Mind is a powerful weapon, it is with us to control it. The type of thoughts and emotions that we want our mind to get used to requires practice. The more we look for positive things in every aspect of life the more we get our minds acquainted to it.

By recalling past instances where you have been hopeful and this hopefulness has led you to accomplish something good can rejuvenate this hope again.

Hope comes with expectations, if you expect good about something you will be hopeful. Hope comes in feeling grateful for things that you have. It comes in closely associating yourself with nature, having an emotional connect with it and feeling embraced.

We should be grateful for the life that we have, we must be happy that at least we have a roof under our heads to keep us safe in these destressing times, that we are not surrounded by miseries faced by those in the hospital yearning for an empty bed, those who don’t have a job or a shelter, or those who are still struggling for meal once a day and are living their life only because they have hope of betterment.

Ways to be optimistic and positive every day

Years of research and studies have shown that positive and optimistic thinking helps us be happier, healthier and more productive in any field of work. It is the key to living a satisfactory life and ensuring the well-being of the people around us as well. However, it’s very difficult to practice positivity and optimism every day, so here are some tips.

1. Guide your energy. Positive energy invites positive deeds and events, and vice-versa. According to quantum physics, our thoughts have a frequency and a corresponding unique vibration that attracts similar frequencies into our lives. So negative thinking attracts negative energy; positive thinking attracts positive energy. This also applies to group thinking or collective consciousness. When a collection of people together guides their mental energy for a positive outcome, the likelihood of their success is usually lot higher and than otherwise. Their collective energy attracts positivity or negativity.

2. Develop resilience. Positive people develop a mental capacity that allows them to adapt with ease during adversity. They develop a set of powerful mental traits. Resiliency begins with adaptability, acceptance, and gratitude. Success and happiness does not always come from blasting through rocks and impediments, rather from having the faith, courage and ‘letting it happen’ attitude to cope with harsh realities of life.

3. Connect with yourself. The better we understand the nature of the world, the better we can move in the world. The better we understand the nature of ourselves, the better we can move within ourselves. Life is a process of ongoing transformation spurred by the interlinked qualities of curiosity, purpose, and courage. When you know yourself, you can act with a confidence that is your own.

4. Be kind to yourself. It is particularly difficult to stay positive in the face of adversity and failure. For many, even though it may be easy to show compassion to others, it may be hard to accept, embrace, and be compassionate toward ourselves. Some of us blame others for all our miseries and some blame ourselves. Often it’s easy to blame oneself, feel sorry, and/or put oneself down. It is only through being able to let go, have compassion for oneself, and self-encouragement that we can pursue a path of positivity.

Only gradually changing your ways to implement these can improve the quality of your life and help change your outlook towards it for the better, which will eventually result in material gains in the form of happiness and productivity.

Random Acts of Kindness

Humanity has gone down a downward slope over the recent years because of the growth of consumerism and capitalist selfishness. Being considerate of the welfare of others is almost an anomaly, especially in urban environments where the concepts of privacy and individualism have eroded the natural human instinct to care for fellow human beings.

In such a scenario, we must take it upon ourselves to be kind to others and to not let our lives turn into a crude competition of self-service. Every act, every gentle word and every tangible contribution to someone else’s life with no desire for self-enrichment is a way to regain the lost selfless character of humanity.

This random acts of kindness day, we should all pledge to go out of our way to aid our fellow human beings in any way we can. This can be done through helping our someone with their work, donating to the underprivileged, helping an old woman cross the street and so many other ways! Even the smallest contribution to someone else’s life will not just enrich their life but have a softening impact on our own character. To do so is a favor towards humanity and to ourselves.

Toxic Positivity: To Not Become Numb About The Downs of Life

Has it ever happened to you, that when you are speaking about some problem, you have been told, “People have it worse”, “Look at the bright side…” or, “This shall too pass” ? What did it make you feel? Or, is it something you tell yourself?  So, why is it something which is not very helpful sometimes. The simple reason, positivity is an emotion, and emotions cannot be forced.

Positivity and optimism are essentials for a satisfying and peaceful life. To be bitter and negative about things, and life in general, not only slowly burn out one from inside, but also have unfavourable effects on their social life and relations. But being over-positive doesn’t always help too. Life has its own share of ups and downs. And it’s not always possible to see the good side, because sometimes, there aren’t any.

According to California based psychiatrist Gayani DeSilva, toxic positivity is “ insincere positivity that leads to harm, needless suffering, or misunderstanding”. Positivity is a healthy practice to have. It can help to sort the thoughts, plan well, and give the energy to face the world with a smile. But bad days are also a part of life. Somedays, it is just too overwhelming to keep a smile on the face, or a bright thought in the mind. Toxic positivity is, when someone fails, or refuses, to acknowledge this. Cheering up a friend? Not listening to what they are actually saying and rather encouraging them to forget it or pointing out the silver linings will not help much in the long run. It will only serve to discourage them to not share their actual, authentic emotions regarding incidents.

When faced with toxic positives on a personal level, people often tend to feel guilty about ‘feeling down’ or not being ‘upbeat’. This happens so, because they get conditioned to believe that the negative feelings are inherently bad. This avoidance and guilt, itself, takes a toll on the mind. That beats the ultimate goal of being positive, to be at peace and happy.

Also, it gets harmful when optimism and positivity shrouds over reality. Positivity should help us grow, rather than giving an illusion that everything is as good as it can be, thus stagnating the personal growth. Constructive criticism, from the inner self and from the well wishers, are not perceived as negative or jealousy. Things and works are not always perfect, and if that can be made better, then it should be tried to make that better. Hence, it won’t do anyone any harm listening to someone pointing out a problem, which can be overcomed.

Acceptance should be within oneself, be it for our own experiences or for someone’s narration of ordeal. Dismissing or downplaying someone’s experience, even unconsciously, in the favour of looking only to the positive outcomes, doesn’t do justice to that person. Instead, the attitude should be listening. Whatever it is. Because they have lived that, and they know what they are speaking of. The essence of sharing should be to let go of the emotional burden, instead of hiding the worse parts out of the fear and shame of judgement.

Even when living it through. The acceptance of the negative parts of an emotional journey helps us to emerge stronger, wiser and more experienced. Positivity can only hold its true meaning when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable to feel down. It’s the same as how we appreciate the beauty of the sun rays after spending a night devoid of it. That is the beauty of emotions, to be able to feel.

State Of Happiness

Happiness is one of the most essential features of our lives. It is the thing that most people want, yet it is one of the most difficult aspects of life to assess. What is Happiness? How do we define Happiness? How do we measure Happiness? These are the questions that break the limit to its single definition of being happy. Happiness does not have a single universal definition, it is unique for every single individual including me and you. Some find joy in helping others while some find pleasure in hampering others. It is the word that is not only bound to something we have achieved rather it can also come from experiencing loss. An example of experiencing loss in terms of happiness can be the thing precious to you is lost and later on realizing that it is not good for us.

So, Firstly, it is important to know ‘What is Happiness’
Happiness is used in terms of mental and emotional states, including positive or pleasant emotions ranging from satisfaction to intense joy. Research on happiness has been conducted in scientific disciplines, including social and positive psychology, clinical and medical research and economics of happiness. In the Context of psychology, it is said when one feels intense joy and is very happy he or she develops crow’s feet at the outer corner of the eye. Hence, it is a very subjective topic.

Secondly, ‘How do we define Happiness’   Happiness comes when we feel satisfied and fulfilled. Happiness is a feeling of contentment, basically, believing that life is just as it should be. Perfect happiness, enlightenment and insight come when we have all of our needs satisfied. There is no need for any definition of happiness as it has a unique meaning for every human being.

Thirdly, ‘How do we measure Happiness’
By far the most common way that researchers assess happiness is through measuring self-reports. By using questionnaires or surveys, we can simply ask people about their level of happiness. People think about their happiness, and it is pertaining to the soul, so it makes sense ask them about it.

The word Happiness includes:

H- Heal

A- Active

P- Pleasure

P- Peace

I- Insight

N- Natural

E- Enlightenment

S- Success

S- Smile

These words of every letter in the term ‘Happiness’ are important factors to achieve happiness in life.

The opposite of happiness is sadness which is a state of apathy in the mindset. When we remain sad for an extended period of time it can lead to stress and will result in depression. To avoid this state of mind we must always remind ourselves of positive happenings in our lives that made us happy.

To achieve the complete state of happiness practising on enhancing the state of spirit is must:

1. Staying connected in life with what we have. Murmuring and Cribbing never led to happiness.

2. Staying concentrated on the current life instead of daydreaming of the good days or old days to be focused on the present day.

3. Stop dispraise for the things that went terribly wrong in life. Life is all about going on. Stop concerning and worrying and set new goals in life.

4. Being thankful to God for all the good things that we have in our life.

5. We should have good people around us who can boost up positivity in our life.

Everyone wishes to be happy in life. Happiness cannot be achieved without establishing complete control of one’s thoughts as it is very easy to be carried away by the bubbles of thoughts and emotions surrounding us. Remind yourself of the good things of your life and be thankful about it and follow above mantras to achieve a complete state of happiness.
