OCD and Dopamine
Obsessive compulsive disorder. You might have read this term in many articles, memes and so many places. But…..OCD is not something to be considered as a joke.
The disorder is a psychological disorder which includes a ‘certain’ compulsive disorder. Meaning, a person with OCD always has a way of things, and when it does not go that way,it often results in agitation, hypervigilance(increased state of alertness), repetitive movements and so much more. Now you might be like, ‘ Ya,so what?’ The thing is the person with OCD cannot even control their actions. They just simply can’t control their thoughts at all. They often isolate themselves from socialising. Often anxiety , depression and panics are observed within the patients. Now this does not mean that every second person out there has OCD. Obsessive Compulsive disorder is not being annoyed from your room not being clean. Suppose, you have to save a particular presentation. So, you’ll click the save button once a day your work is done. But an OCD patient will click the save button multiple times. And they don’t have a dominance over it. It sort of becomes a natural tendency after sometime. Our brain is a pretty complex concept. It has various components and chemicals which make us experience various types of emotions. One of them is dopamine. What is dopamine? Suppose you like to eat chocolates every day single day. And it quiet makes you happy. Sure, but when you eat that chocolate, dopamine oxytocin etc. are released within your whole brain. Whenever you do something amusing and mind blowing, dopamine gets released within your body. At some point of time it becomes an obsession. Then you cannot live without it. Why? Because your brain likes to adapt itself in any given condition. Scientists have proven this by experiments, suppose you wear a wristwatch for 3 days straight. After a point of time, your brain eliminates the feeling of the mass of the watch at all. Exactly the reason why we don’t always notice our heartbeat or breathing unless we go for a long run, when the heart has to pump the blood with more intensity, that’s when you sort of feel the heartbeat without actually putting your hand over your heart. Anyways, once your brain gets used to a particular habit,it’s capacity increases day by day. Suppose the first day you drank a cup of coffee, and continued for quite some time . Now your body is used to the caffeine rush of one cup,and now you have to drink about two cups of coffee to get the same effect as before. Dopamine rush, kind of works similarly. Once you acquire it as an habit, your capacity to hold dopamine increases, and a time comes when you cannot control it at all. Dopamine is a natural component. It will be released in the brain. But the intensity through which it rushes is always up to you. There is one more enzyme which is released when you are desperate to make a decision. The liquid, maybe flows into the brain and makes it very hard for you to make the decision. The purpose? Well,it might be a n indirect indication of the body to calm down and take the decision wisely and with all factors into the point of view. Thereforevice, experts advise to use dopamine as a reward for whatever good work you do. Make use of this dopamine as a reward for accomplishing small activities which you planned.
So let’s get back to OCD. The major cause of this phenomenon is not exactly known, but a few speculations are maybe made, but not every speculation is true now,is it? People with OCD often suffer with mood swings from few to depression etc. Some may distance themselves from almost everyone and get used to loneliness. And loneliness is the devil’s workshop. There are several cases of OCD as well. The disorder is not a joke. You might think it funny but the issue is more serious than you think. The people have common symptoms like constant nightmares, repeatedly overthinking about any incident that happened. Ya,now you might be like’ Oh my god, I do this as well!!’ But what you do would be milder than what a person with OCD suffers. It makes you sort of classify everything. Literally. From colours to number of bottles in your house etc. People with this avoid contact with any means like a handshake, door lock etc. Makes them have impulsive cleanliness everywhere. The problem may interfere with your social life, jobs etc.

OCD is pretty rare and one of the mysteries still to be uncovered. Therefore, not much information is available and which is why awareness is not there within the people. That’s why they find it funny. But the things which are experienced from OCD are not funny.
To calm your panic attacks, here are some ideas you could use-
- Use a distraction- Concentrate on anything which does not remind you of the source of your panic
- Take a cool long and deep breath. Often people say that it helped them concentrate on their actual work
- Count any five to ten things which you find weird, amusing or distractive.
- Close your eyes for a minute and remember what could be the possible reason for your work to go Wrong. Once you hit the error, do your efficiently and steadily to avoid any mistake that you did in the past
These are some small tips, but can save from disasters happening!!
Vaccination and COVID-19
How long has it been since we went to school met our friends or had a family dinner at some restaurant? Since March 2020, we have all been advised to stay home and sanitise ourselves in order to stay safe. Sanitizers and masks have been added to our daily use products, all because of one tiny yet dangerous virus Covid-19!
The world is now waiting anxiously for a vaccine against this dreaded virus. Researchers around the world are working round the clock to develop vaccines to combat the pandemic. Currently, more than 165 vaccines against the corona virus are under process and 27 vaccines are undergoing human trials. Vaccines typically require years of research and testing before reaching the clinic. Today, scientists all over the world are racing to produce a safe and effective vaccine by next year.

• When did the efforts start
Efforts to make a successful Covid-19 vaccine began in January 2020 with the deciphering of the SARS-CoV -2 genome. The first vaccine safety trials in humans started in March but the road ahead remains uncertain. Some trials will fail and others may end without a clear result. But a few may succeed in stimulating the immune system to produce effective antibodies against the virus.
• India and vaccine against Covid-19
Like many other countries, India too is immersed in the efforts to develop successful vaccines to counter Covid-19. Thirty different Indian companies are trying to produce a vaccine to fight the infection. 7 out of these have received approval from the World Health Organization. These vaccines are in different stages of testing and clinical trials now.
COVAXIN
COVAXIN is developed by Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech International Limited in collaboration with ICMR and NIV, Pune. This is the first vaccine from India to get regulatory approval. The vaccine makes us an inactive version of a virus to spike up production of antibodies in the host body. It recently initiated Phase I and Phase II of clinical testing.
ZyCoV-D
ZyCoV-D is being developed by Zydus Cadila based in Ahmedabad. The Phase I trials of the vaccine have already begun. Extensive research was done regarding the same in collaboration with medical labs in Europe and US.

• Russia and vaccine against Covid-19
Russia is one of the countries worst affected by Covid-19. The country has been pushing extensively for a Covid-19 vaccine for quite some time now; Russia too is a part of the race to produce the world’s first Covid vaccine. It is possible that Russia would be ready with its first domestic corona virus vaccine soon. The clinical trials were conducted by the Gamaleya National Research centre of Epidemiology and microbiology. There seem to be no reports of side effects on the volunteers. All the participants showed immunity and the country is planning for the serial production of the vaccine by September. By the beginning of next year, Russia hopes to manufacture several million doses of corona virus vaccines per month.
• Oxford University’s efforts to develop a vaccine
The university of Oxford has partnered with AstraZeneca, a British-Swedish pharmaceutical company to develop an adenovirus vector vaccine to combat Covid-19. The vaccine prototype is currently in Phase III of testing. Trials of the vaccine developed by Oxford University show it can trigger an immune response. The vaccine which has so far been found to be safe and effective is expected to be made available for the masses by the end of 2020. This vaccine would also be the first such vaccine to have a large scale testing in India. The observatory data for this vaccine is expected to be available by November this year. The company has tied up with Pune based serum institute of India to mass produce the vaccine once the company gets required approvals and licensing from medical boards.

• Some methods used to make vaccines for Covid-19
Different scientists across the world try different techniques and formulas to develop vaccines. The Oxford researchers have put small sections of the corona virus genetic code into a harmless virus that infects chimpanzees. They appear to have developed a safe virus that looks enough like the corona virus to produce an immune system. Some other scientists have used pieces of raw genetic code, either DNA or RNA. When these are injected into the body it would start producing bits of viral proteins which the immune system can learn to fight. There is also work on corona virus vaccines called ‘plug and play’ vaccines. This method is new and less tested.

Ways to find the real “YOU”
The most important journey of our lives is discovering who we truly are. Have you ever asked yourself- Who you are?
Well, if you didn’t then ask yourself today and try to find your answer !
Finding yourself may additionally sound like an inherently self-centered goal, however it is simply an unselfish process that is at the root of everything we do in life. In order to be the most treasured person to the world round us, the best partner, father or mother etc, we have to first recognize who we are, what we value and, in effect, what we have to offer. Now, let’s discover some of the ways to find out our authentic self.
1) Make sense of our past- In order to find out who we are and why we act the way we do, we have to be aware of our own story. Being courageous and willing to explore our past is an important stepping stone on the avenue to appreciate ourselves for who we are and changing into who we prefer to become. Research has shown that it isn’t simply the things that has happened to us that outlines who we become, but its how much we’ve made sense of what has occurred to us.
So, in order to grow in life and to understand yourself better you will have to make peace with your past, clear up your past issues, recognize your behavior patterns, fix yourself if needed and change for the better. Do not continue to be caught up in your past conflicts.
2)Differentiate- Differentiation refers to the procedure of striving to increase the experience of ourselves as unbiased individuals. In order to find ourselves and to genuinely live our lives in the best viable way, we ought to differentiate ourselves from the rest. We have to attempt to locate our traits that makes us special and unique from others. We ought to additionally try to find our very own values, morals and ideas rather than blindly accepting those values and morals one has grown up with.
3) Seek meaning in life – In order to discover ourselves, each one of us should look out for our personal sense of purpose. This is the ability of keeping apart our personal point of view from other’s expectations of us. It needs asking ourselves what our values are, what truly matters to us, and then following the ideas we truly believe in. Finding your self and your happiness is a challenge inextricably linked to discovering meaning in life and for discovering the meaning in your existence you must have certain goals and dreams to obtain in your lifespan, to make it a life worth living.
4) Recognize your personal power- When we recognize what we prefer and what are our desires that we want to achieve, we are challenged to take control over our lives. We no longer have interactions with ourselves in a spiral of negative questioning that tells us all the things that are incorrect with the world round us or all the motives we can’t have what we want. Instead, we begin accepting ourselves as a powerful participant willing to write our own destiny. Utilising our personal power is vital to both discovering and becoming ourselves.
5) Practice generosity-
Mahatma Gandhi once stated ” The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” In addition to improving your intellectual and physical fitness and extending your lifespan, generosity can enhance one’s experience of reason and attach a meaning to life. It is frequently considered that humans derive more joy out of giving than from receiving. So, if you desire to discover your way in life, it’s beneficial to exercise generosity as an intellectual health precept and take on a compassionate mind-set towards your self and others.
So, if you want to discover your true self, first uncover your past, understand why you are the way you are, develop your own set of beliefs and principles to follow, find a reason to live for, stay focused on what you want out of your life, work hard to achieve your dreams and finally practice generosity to attract happiness into your life. Go ahead and follow the above-mentioned ways and I hope you will discover the real ‘YOU’ soon!

This is a hotly contested topic – with the Chinese , Italian and Arabs all staking a claim.

•Ice cream

Alexander the great enjoyed ice cream made with milk, fruit juice, honey and snow in the 4th century B.C. and the Roman emperor Nero ordered ice to ne brought from the mountains and combined it with fruit toppings. The Chinese also had a method of making ice creams and some believe that ice cream came to Europe from China.
It was Quintus Maximus, a roman general, who first wrote down a recipe for ice cream. Marco Polo brought the Chinese recipe to Venice after his visit to Peking. The king of England, Charles I is supposed to have offered his chef a handsome reward to keep his ice cream recipe a secret!
You favourite ice cream cone was invented by a pastry maker Ernest Hamwi in 1904, at the World Fair in St. Louis. He put a scoop of ice cream on his pastry when an ice cream seller in a neighbouring stall ran out of dishes- and it became an instant hit!

• Chocolate
Cocoa, from which chocolate is made is said to have originated in the Amazon atleast 4000 years ago. The origins of chocolate can be traced back to the ancient Mayan and Aztec civilization in central America, who first enjoyed ‘chocolatel’, a much prized spicy drink made from roasted cocoa beans, the Aztecs believed that the cocoa tree was a gift from their God, Quetzalcoatl. According to legend, He had been banished by the other gods for giving the tree to mankind, but he promised to return to them one day.
The Spanish, led by Hernando Cortez, invaded Mexico in the 16th century. When the Aztecs saw Cortez, they believed their god had returned and welcomed him with a golden cup of chocolate! When Cortez returned to Spain in 1528, he loaded his galleons with cocoa beans and equipment for making the chocolate drink. Soon ‘chocolate’ became a fashionable drink enjoyed by the rich in Spain.

Do you often hate yourself for the things you have done in the past or for who you are as a person today? Well, self-love is something that doesn’t come instantly, you will have to focus on all the good features and characteristics of yourself to truly love being ‘YOU’ as a person. However, don’t mistake self-love for narcissism. The concept of self-love is much broader than mere loving your outward appearance. Now, let’s explore the 5 simple ways, following which you can learn to embrace your true self.
1) Delete your past- the first step towards the process of self-love is to forget the bad events that had happened in your past and that often makes you feel miserable or guilty, today. Every individual has a past of their own, your past should not impact your present, no matter what! Let go of all the past memories that has the potential to make you feel bad about yourself in the present. Your past belongs to the past, don’t let it spoil your present, instead remember the lesson it taught and try not to repeat those mistakes again.Learn from your worst experiences and keep growing in life. Do not look back!
2) Don’t look for outside validation- don’t let people decide how you feel. In order to practice self-love you will have to stop seeking validation from others. Get dressed as you like, do whatever you want to,without seeking anybody’s validation. It’s okay if you do not get appreciated for the things you do by following your heart, well, that doesn’t mean you should stop doing it. After all, at the end of the day, it is you who would have to be with your damn self, so don’t let anybody control your life. You should have control over your life and live it the way you want to without seeking anybody’s validation, otherwise it would cost you your happiness and peace of mind.
3) Have control over your thoughts- it is commonly seen that almost every person sees the good qualities in others while they cannot find one in themselves. This is where you start comparing yourself with others and then end up being depressed. Have you ever tried to find your best qualities and understand yourself better? Well, may be you have never tried doing so! It’s never too late though, try it today, to find all the good qualities in yourself and understand why are you better than the person you were comparing, in the first place. I am pretty sure, you will find a number of reasons to love yourself, now. Accept yourself with all your flaws. Everybody has flaws but that doesn’t make anybody less worthy of love. You are not defined by your imperfections as nobody is perfect in this world!
4) Forgiveness- Just like you should let go of your past, you should also forgive yourself and others. Doing this will help you appreciate yourself better and this would help you let go of any regret, guilt, and shame that you might have been feeling so far.
Forgiveness is thus, the key to love yourself better. Just take a deep breath, let go and forgive!
5) Work on your goals- attach yourself to your life-goals than to any individual. This would help you stay away from the emotional clutches of people that we often find ourselves fall into, as a result of getting emotionally attached to them. As we all know, nothing is permanent, and most of the time people enters your life temporarily, so instead of letting yourself become dependent on them, better stay focused on your goals, and keep chasing your dreams. This would help you become self dependent and give you the strength to fight your own storms. By working on your goals and achieving them would give you immense joy and contentment, and you will feel better about yourself. Your self-confidence would get a boost and you would strive for achieving the best in life.
So if you constantly hate yourself for the smallest of things you have done in your past or because you do not feel good about your appearance, then my dear readers, you should start implementing the above mentioned ways into your life so as to embrace your true- self and to stop holding yourself in a lower position than any other person. Every person is unique in their own way and is worthy of self-love!
What Happens When You Starve yourselves?
Your body needs energy to do anything and everything. But what happens if you do not provide the box with this energy? What consequences would occur?
- Mechanism
A human body is immensely active and has a smart system in itself. It has a great ability to adapt itself into the new environment and new conditions. The only condition your body has with you is health and food to eat. We all know that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It simply gets transferred. Supposing, the same are built so that the turbine spins and through which, electricity and fresh water can be obtained. Here, mechanical energy has got converted into electrical energy. The electricity then flows to make use for domestic and industrial purposes. The electricity then,is released in the form of heat energy. So,your body cannot really make energy. It simply converts one type of energy into the other. So unless you intake any eatables, the body does not have any energy. But…..then how do people in the hospitals for a longer period of time? Well, they are given supplements, maybe through the fluids injected into their body regularly. In fact, according to a site, supposing if a person in a condition of coma and cannot move at all. Many ,many things can happen when a person in a state where he cannot move. First of all,the mechanical equipment, like the central line, the tubes, the cathedral( Yah,confusing to me as well) , these equipment stay at the same place,to inject the fluids. When a substance is left out, infections can commonly occur. These lines or tubes have everything that a microbe needs to grow. Now these same lines travel inside the patients body and not every time,it will get killed. The infection can also lead to be fatal and even statistics say that a certain amount of death occurs yearly due to the central lines getting infected. Sure, the environment in sterilized and all,but we are talking about the things which have actually happened in the past and present. Anyway, the point was that the nurses have to constantly clean the teeth of the patients and even gently jerk the hands. Almost every day. (So the next time you see some nurse in the corner, just don’t ignore them cause they are doing an awesome work out there.) But what if you stop eating, let’s say for three weeks?
- Human fuel.
Some people call food, the ‘human fuel of energy.’ Food is crucial for growth, development, for the organs in your body to work etc. But most people stay without food for about 6-8 hours sometime. What happens is,your body stores that glucose in the form of something called Glycogen. When you eat foods, your body previously stores this glycogen and when your body needs glucose,it will be provided in the form of this glycogen. But..then why do we faint? Fainting can be observed from many factors, the common one being when the brain does not receive oxygen. Why does it not receive oxygen? Well, many factors can be taken into consideration, such as
1. Standing for too much time.
2. Standing under the sun for too much time.
3. When you do not eat food(but sometimes, the food which you’ve eaten, that food also needs energy to be converted into glucose which again makes you faint.)
After some days, your body moves into the phase of something called Ketosis. Ketosis is when your body produces something called ketones which is temporarily used as a fuel. But this is not enough. So the next phase is something very disturbing. Now,the body does not have any carbohydrates, so it sort of cannibalises the fats, the proteins in your body because your brain needs it desperately. But when proteins and fats are used to make glucose, your brain will be satisfied, but your body will be devastated. You’ll develop a bony structure as the body builders (proteins) have been burnt. And if you don’t stop now,it can even lead to death.
Fact- Something similar but less complicated occurs in potatoes. You must have noticed, the potatoes tend to sprout maybe due to humid Linares. How does it grow? It uses all the nutrition inside itself. But the potato will not grow until it obtains N,P,K (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium)so the sprouting is nothing but wasted

Learning to live life is essential
Accept your mistakes and start learning from them, learn lessons from time and make your future better

• Lessons from our mistakes bring experience and learning to handle
• If you have experienced some kind of negative experience, remember to learn from it forever
We all have a few common teachers. The experiences of those who concentrate in their classroom become inspiration for others. Sometimes there is a lesson to be learnt in time, then after gaining some experience, a new lesson is taught. Sometimes the behavior of loved ones is learned, and sometimes the behavior of strangers becomes our lesson. Also consider these things and situations as teachers who teach, explain and carve you a lot. Every lesson, experience and feeling of this class that is going on in life is filled.

Learn from mistakes
It is said that one’s own mistakes are the biggest teacher in life. Like this, making mistakes is also a part of the journey of learning.Lessons from our mistakes bring experience and learning to handle. Usually we are unable to accept our mistakes. But no learning can be achieved without this acceptance. Whereas the identity of a successful and alert person is that he or she should learn from his or her mistakes from time to time and never repeat them further, so that such mistakes become experiences and make you alert and understanding forever.

Nature gives a test every day. Embraces every season. Teaches you how to deal with every situation. After autumn, the feeling of blooming again in the spring explains the feeling of acceptance of sorrow and happiness. Nature teaches and explains that time does not always remain the same. But after times of trouble, a better time also comes, when again the hope and enthusiasm spring up.There is aneed so much that we keep our lives irrigated with cheerfulness and positiveness.
Learn from the experience of others
According to Charles Kalton, “It is better to demand experience than to buy it from others.” Anyway, to learn by mistake every time, the whole life is short. That is, to avoid making mistakes ourselves, we should also learn from the experience of others. Not only this, if you have experienced some kind of negative experience, then remember to learn from it forever. ‘Bad experience is a kind of school where only fools keep going back.’

Awareness lessons
It is said that one who is educated is aware only. But the truth is also that being aware can teach us something. Being alert and awake in life-related situations gives a lesson every day, every moment. Life is like a classroom to say. Always learn to be vigilant in this so that you can learn many lessons from your problems and surroundings, lessons from them can be used in life.
Learn lessons from time
Time is the greatest teacher in life. The ups and downs that come with the time make us aware of many aspects related to life. A bad time, when confronted with bitter truths, can never be forgotten. From relationships to work to work, to understand every aspect of life, lessons learned from time to time lead to the direction of life. Time is like a bitter-sweet medicine which does not appear but becomes a great teacher and teaches us in life a lot.
5 Ways to not lose hope
Do you often feel hopeless and see no light at the end of the tunnel? Well, everybody feels that, at some point of their life. None’s life is perfect, but we should keep thriving to make one. Everybody gets hit by adversity at times, when it becomes difficult to search for the light, but it is only after the storm passes that we become a stronger version of ourselves than ever. Each storm teaches us a lesson to remember and helps us grow as a person. Now, let us explore the five ways through which we can keep our hope alive at the face of adversity.
1) Find support- whenever you feel hopeless and gloomy thinking about your life, or about the things that went wrong, try to talk it out with someone you trust, people who have always supported you and been there through thick and thin. Talking to such people at the time of adversity would help you stay on the right track and their words would give you the much needed strength to fight your fears. They might even help you get your life together.
2) Practice gratitude- Be grateful for what you have achieved so far. Be thankful for the things you have now, which you didn’t had, about a few years back. I am pretty sure you would find ample of things to feel good about yourself and would find a hope to hold on.
3) See the bright side- try to see the bright side of every negative event that might have happened in your life. Consider it as a great life lesson. Learn from your worst experiences and make it a point to never repeat your mistakes twice. The ability to learn from your mistakes would help build your life better and keep your hope alive.
4) Revisit your past- when you feel hopeless just calm your mind, sit with yourself at a quiet place and revisit your past. Try to get back to your past and recall the memories of the difficulties you had faced so far and how you have overcome it, every damn time. This revisiting would thus help you stay strong and would not let you lose hope. Now, your brain would get a positive boost and would try to think about the best possible ways to get you out of your current situation.
5) Everything is temporary- the sooner you realise that nothing is permanent in life, the better you would heal from all the hurt and the bad events that made you feel hopeless. Moreover, just like every night has it’s dawn, similarly every dark days in one’s life brings in bright sunny days later.
So my dear readers, if you have one reason to cry for, today, you would have several other reasons to smile tomorrow. What’s important is never to give up on life and always holding onto hope. Hope is what gets one going right? So no matter what happens, you are strong and brave enough to fight any adversity and most importantly, life donot always go as we plan so all we need to do during such hard circumstances is to keep our eye at the light shimmering at the end of the tunnel. Keep going, have faith in the Almighty and never ever lose hope!
REPERCUSSIONS OF OBESITY.
Being healthy or chubby is a particular individual’s personal choice. But is it good for your health? Not really because obesity causes a lot of problems for your body. Obesity is a complex syndrome involving an excessive volume of body fat. It is a medical problem that doubles your danger of other ailments and health problems, such as heart condition, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. Although there are hereditary, behavioral, metabolic, and hormonal impacts on body mass, obesity occurs while you take in added calories than you burn throughout the exercise and usual daily activities. The body accumulates these extra calories as fat. People with obesity might consume more calories even after they are full, feel starved sooner, or eat more due to tension or worry.
Diseases such as Respiratory Disorders: People with obesity have decreased lung function. They have a larger chance of having respiratory infections. Liver Disease: Obesity is the cause of fatty liver and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Fatty liver disease can create scarring of the liver, occurring in worsened liver capacity, and this can lead to liver cirrhosis and liver failure. Stroke: Obesity puts pressure on your entire circulatory system. This pressure raises your risk of stroke. Obesity can lead to other stroke risk circumstances such as heart disease, hypertension, etc. Sleep apnea: People with obesity are more likely to have sleep apnea, a possibly serious ailment in which breathing frequently stops and starts during sleep. Liquid calorie: People can drink many calories without feeling full, especially calories from alcohol. Other high-calorie beverages, such as soda drinks, can contribute to significant weight increase. Unhealthy diet: A diet that’s huge in calories, lacking in fruits and vegetables, fast food loaded with high-calorie drinks, large servings contribute to weight gain, etc. Inactivity: If an individual has a stationary lifestyle, undoubtedly take in more calories every day than they burn through exercise and usual activities. Working on computers, tablets, and phone screens or involved in sitting activity for too long. The estimate of hours an individual spends sitting with electronics is associated with weight gain. Obesity can diminish the overall condition of living. The person may shun away from people and public places. People with obesity may even face prejudice and other problems such as Depression Disabilities, Lower work achievement, etc.
Obesity can be prevented by losing or maintaining a healthy weight by following certain measures. The intake of fruit and vegetable is 5 to 9 portions every day for adults. Loading your meal with protein and fiber-containing food can help keep calories moderate and decrease the chance of overeating. Avoid oily food and restrict sweets and alcohol. Eat three proper meals a day with restricted snacking. At least get 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise a week to prevent weight gain. Slightly intense physical activities include fast walking and swimming.WHO recommends weight training that involves all your major muscles at least two times per week.Adhering to a healthy-weight plan as much as possible increases your chances of long-term success.
Like Mr.Joseph Pilates quoted “Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.”
What Exactly is Adrenaline??
Ever heard of the term ‘adrenaline pumped through my veins’ in the stories and novels? What does this ‘adrenaline’ mean? What exactly does this fluid do? Well, carry on!
- What Is Adrenaline
Basically, adrenaline is a hormone which is secreted by your body from the adrenal glands. What is a hormone? Simply explaining a hormone is a ‘regulatory substance’ made by any living being and is taken towards the blood or other fluids to balance out specific cells or many tissues ‘into action.Where are the adrenal glands situated? The adrenal glands are situated just above our kidneys. The hormone pumps through our veins, when we are anxious, filled with fear, nervous, or in major danger. Adrenaline is our body’s response to danger. Adrenaline does not have any addictive property. Adrenaline is a condition when our body has to do something in which we feel strong emotions like excitement , fear, anxiety, nervousness and when you face some difficult and life threatening emotions. Which means that this hormone helps us to react to these emotions in a better and quicker way.The chemical formula of adrenaline is C9H13NO3.This hormone contains something called adrenergic receptors. The adrenal gland not only secretes adrenaline, but also many hormones like aldosterone(steroid- regulation of salt and water which effects blood pressure hormone),cortisole (stress hormone)and noradrenaline( with adrenaline, these both incrwase the blood pressure and the heart rate). The glands are actually controlled by another gland named the pituitary gland. You might have heard in dramas when surgeons shout to give a dose of Epinepherine. Yes, that’s right, it’s only the an other name of adrenaline itself. Adrenaline is a hormone. It is released when we are only granted with two options, either fight, or run.

- Why are they secreted?
What is the reason of the secretion of this hormone though? So the initial reason for adrenaline rush is,Suppose you are facing a wild animal, let it be a tiger. What possible options do you have? 1. Either run so hard that, keeping in mind to not leave any trails. 2. Tackle the tiger.
This situation is called fight or flee situation. Adrenaline triggers this response. When the fluid pumps through your brain, the reaction makes the following changes in your body. Your body sweats up as well, just one of the things adrenaline rush does:
i) Makes or triggers the blood vessel’s contraction and sort of makes it so that the blood vessels redirect themselves towards the muscle region.
ii) The blood vessels also reorientation itself towards the lungs and heart
iii) Naturally, this results in an increased heart rate.
iv) What is the purpose of our heart? To circulate blood, right? So when adrenaline pump increases your heart rate, it will also double your blood flow.
v)When adrenaline is released, the body’s pain sensory receptors also get decreased.
vi) Makes it so that, your awareness level increases.
vii) Your pupils get dilated and you have a better sense of vision
viii) Improves your memory.

Adrenaline makes us survive through life threatening situations, where we are supposed to make rapid and immediate decision and even that decision should be utterly perfect.
The adrenaline rush uses sugar, kind of like a fuel to run the body with these functions. But keep in mind, this only happens till there is the effect of adrenaline in your body. Research says that the effect can stay upto about 1 hour
- How does one experiences adrenalinal rush?
Your brain is classified into three parts. a) The thinking brain. b) The emotional brain. c)The action brain. Brain is a very interesting concept to study. Unfortunately though, for now we are only interested in the emotional brain .( aww, don’t worry, I’ll work up to let you know more about our brain in the future articles!) The emotional brain is known as amygdala. It is the only reason why you feel various emotions like guilt, happiness etc. ( Me: I hate you, amygdala for wrecking my thinking with all these complex emotions!!
Amygdala: Great! The feelings are mutual.
Me: Come here you little peice of- )
Anyways, the when you are in one of the strong emotions (with reference to the second paragraph of the article) ,the signals are sent to the amygdala, and amygdala transfers these signals to another part of the brain, called the hypothalamus ( commanding system or the action brain – communicates through the nervous system) signals the adrenal glands, making these glands release the hormones(adrenaline) into our blood flow. Many other changes occur in the body due to adrenaline. These ‘bodily changes’ make the movements of our body faster. According to a site, this process happens very fast.
- How is Adrenaline used as a medication
Epinephrine or adrenalin is another term for adrenaline. Epinephrine is injected into your body. The supplement works similar to the natural process. It is contained in a liquid form. The liquid is initially, to be injected into the muscles. The injection is used for allergic reaction, slow heart rate. Epinephrine is strictly to be injected as per needs. Any more or any less is extremely dangerous. Do not use Epinephrine is you do not have proper knowledge about it (seriously, don’t). But if Epinephrine is dangerous, as a medication, is our (constant) natural adrenaline rush dangerous? No…..right?
Excessive adrenaline rush is not good for your health. Therefore we are always advised to not take a lot of load on our heads at once. This results in complex emotions, adrenaline rushes and the process occurs. Thankfully though, our body is very smart. As fast as the adrenaline is secreted, it is also naturally deaminated by our body. But really, hold on right there,go somewhere where you can get fresh air, and BREATHE! You’ve done a great work until now!
Fact- The detailed understanding of these hormones is really complex. Infact, it has its own branch of science- Endocrinology
Optimism – The need of the hour

Optimism is defined as “a mental attitude reflecting a belief or hope that the outcome of some specific endeavor, or outcomes in general, will be positive, favorable, and desirable” by Wikipedia. I bet not many of us lead a smooth comfortable life, this is when one is put into test. Maintaining mental stability, putting a pause to all overthinking & most of all, thinking for the brighter side of things, is what optimism basically means. So a ray of hope Or even imagining the better times or opportunities is also an optimum drive to cheer one up in the faces of troubles.
A true optimist is believed to never give way easily to despair or psychological pain. On the contrary, a pessimist is defined as someone who looks at the negative & gloomy side of life or things. Thus a pessimist may lose interest from humane values and rather indulge in immoral & cruel acts. This may eventually lead to overpowering one’s mind to inculcate all negative qualities than the positives.
Also, lack of optimism or upon completely losing faith from it may compel one to be cynical & disinterested in life. And a severe form of pessimism may cause one to overload the brain with mental depression. This is often a key reason why people commit suicide. To most of us, the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case clings at the back of our mind. True, the country did lose an exceptionally talented, young & bright actor. Watta pity!
Most of us are quite aware of this widely known idiom, “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.” Mostly it’s used to encourage optimism in the face of adversity or misfortune. The literal meaning relates to when life hands you lemons that are sour in taste, signifying difficulties in life; rather make lemonade out of it that depicts positivity in life.

One may also deduce it as, when life hands you lemons, rather than cribbing about the situation or fate, look out for ways & means to turn it to your advantage. As it is rightly said, “When one door shuts, another opens.” It isn’t always necessary that solutions shall be readily available served right on your plate. So one just needs to scavenge for ways at times & do the needful.
Not all optimists are of the same type. So let’s explore the different kinds of optimists here :
Dispositional optimism: Also known as the “big optimism”, is an expectation that more good shall happen than bad in the future.
Strategic optimism: This involves one denying risks because he believes to have control over the situation.
Unrealistic optimism: Can also be termed as “impractical optimism”, is when the positive expectations don’t match with the actual evidence.
Comparative optimism: It’s expecting good things for oneself compared to others.
Realistic optimism: Also known as “practical optimism”, is when one keeps a positive outlook even in the constraints of the world.
Situational optimism: This refers to the expectation of a positive outcome in a specific situation.
The most common theory used to illustrate the concept of pessimism vs optimism is a glass half filled with water. An optimist will observe the glass as half full, while a pessimist shall see it as half empty. It is simply the difference of perspective of a person that a situation is viewed differently.
An Apple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away- Fact or Fiction?

Remember the classic theory of the law of gravity that Sir Issac Newton came up with when an apple fell upon his from the tree. This lead to the unfolding of a whole new dimension of Physics. Apple is also supposed to be the forbidden fruit of Eden. This English proverb is of Welsh origin.
Apples originated in the mountainous region of present-day Kazakhstan. They are a symbolism of health, love & fertility. It is the national fruit of Austria & its scientific name is Malus domestica. Apples are a part of the rose family just like pears & plums. This deciduous tree is widely grown that takes 4-5 years to produce its first fruit. The tree prospers by bee pollination & is considered to have a life expectancy of 30-35 years.
Often called a “miracle food” & “nutritional powerhouse,” an apple a day really may keep the doctor away. As one is quite aware of this well-known expression, have you ever really given a thought as to why it is said so? A 2015 study found no evidence that the proverb was true. The study only found that people who ate an apple a day used fewer medications. The proverb basically persuades for the intake of this nutritious fruit that will make one healthier.
Apples are found to be loaded with Vitamin C, especially in the skins accompanied by a low content of micronutrients. Pectin, a soluble fiber is found to be present in this fruit that can help reduce cholesterol levels. A medium-sized apple is considered to have an average of 80-95 calories.

Below mentioned are some key health benefits that might push to pick one daily:
1. Aids Weight Loss
As apples contain a bulk of fibers, this makes it difficult & takes a rather long time to be digested in the stomach. Therefore this keeps one satiated and prevents from binging on other junks.
2. Smoothens the Digestion process
Pectin a soluble fiber draws water from the digestive tract and forms a gel, thus helping to lag digestion and pushing stool through the intestines. The apples are also said to contain malic acid, which is again a useful digestive aid.
3. Boost Brain Power
Apples fasten up acetylcholine production, which helps in strengthening the communication between nerve cells and the brain that further improves memory and lower the chances of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
4. Stronger Gums & Healthy Teeth
The malic acid that boosts saliva production, hence removing bacteria from the mouth. Additionally packed with vitamins and minerals that promote healthy teeth.
5. Bone Strengthening
Certain flavonoid phlorizin, found in apple skin, may help prevent bone loss during menopause.
6. Beneficial for Diabetic patients
The fructose and antioxidant polyphenols in apples improve the metabolic balance thus the lagging rate at which sugar is absorbed in the body making it especially effective for Diabetic patients.
7. Relieves from Constipation and Diarrhoea
The high concentration of pectin fiber not only aids digestion but also causes to regulate smooth bowel movements.

One may recall days from his childhood when people mocked that eating the apple seeds may cause one to develop a tree in his stomach. Funny right?! But scientifically it’s dreadful. This is because apple seeds are poisonous. Unaware of the fact, people don’t mind gulping down these pips down their esophagus.
These seeds contain a chemical compound called amygdalin, which can release cyanide, a powerful poison when it comes into contact with digestive enzymes. It’s unharmed if the whole seeds pass through the digestive system relatively untouched, but if one chews the seeds then it may cause to be exposed to the toxins.
Apples typically have about eight pips. One or two will not be harmful, as the body can handle small doses of cyanide. So one would have to eat seeds of 18 apples in one sitting to get a fatal dose.
So don’t forget to grab a fruit every day if not an apple. This shall ensure introduction & a perfect regulation of all elements in the body. Since more or less every fruit has health benefits that can knowingly or unknowingly aid to fight against diseases. One can happily opt to have it in breakfast or post midday meal. And probably the best way to have it is to make a mixed fruit salad as this shall ensure all benefits to clog in the body.
