IF KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, WHY IGNORANCE IS BLISS ?

Knowledge means understanding of something such as facts, information, description and skills. It is the source of power to man and this distinguishes him from other creatures of the universe. However man is genuinely more vulnerable than numerous creatures, for he can’t see similar to a bird, nor can lift heavy weights as certain creatures. In any case he is the most remarkable animal on earth. This power essentially comes to him from information not from actual strength. ‘Knowledge is power’ implies that a man has instruction and a full oversight on his life by utilizing the strength of information. This means a person has the resources to express his views dynamically and make intelligent decisions based on his every day situations, awareness and understanding.

Kim Harrison Quote: “Knowledge is Power. Ignorance is Bliss. But curiosity – even if it had killed

Ignorance, nonetheless, is “an absence of information, instruction, or mindfulness”. Knowledge is amazing, indeed, however a few people think it is incredible to pick when you need to know and proficient in something. This is the reason ignorance is bliss for some individuals. While knowledge is something you can decide to have, ignorance is picking whether you need to have a specific information. In any case, having an “ignorance is bliss” mindset is like people who love to procrastinate. They realize they have a forthcoming cutoff time, yet they fear the possibility of managing it, thus they delay it until they can no longer do so. Ultimately, they’ll encounter the cutoff time. Is ignorance truly euphoria? You can decide to not know something, however sooner or later, whatever information you’re attempting to keep away from will introduce itself to you. Knowledge is genuinely power, as you have control.

In any case, we can’t deny the way that sometimes “ignorance is bliss”. For instance, imagine a situation wherein an exceptionally giant meteor will hit earth. Having the information on this you will attempt each conceivable thing to save earth. You will attempt to change the predetermination. Eventually, you will either be successful or not. Notwithstanding, in case you were totally ignorant about this reality you would have proceeded with your life or would have attended parties, not realizing the end is near. The person that have the knowledge about the incoming meteorite may have the power to change something but he or she can never experience happiness or bliss at that kind of situation knowing their impending demise. He may get miserable or cry over the way that world is reaching a end.

1.There are a few contentions that one forward on the side of fetus removal. As a matter of first importance, any birth of a youngster ought to happen whenever the guardians need and not by some coincidence. This way it would go far in helping the world to have a climate where all youngsters that are brought into the world in this world have a climate favorable for legitimate turn of events.

3.It ought to likewise be noticed that when an individual chooses to carry out an abortion it isn’t out of her aversion for youngsters but since she feels that it would not be an insightful choice to continue with the pregnancy as it is as yet not yet the ideal opportunity to have a child.

4.On account of assault or inbreeding, keeping a pregnancy is very damaging to the individual assaulted as nobody would wish to keep a kid that is a consequence of this, and the best answer for this issue is to abort the unborn kid.

5.At times entanglements can happen to a pregnancy that might put the existence of the mother or unborn youngster in harm’s way and surprisingly now and again every one of them. For this situation, abortion should be allowed to save the actual wellbeing of the mother.

DISADVANTAGES:

1.As indicated by Koster, abortion is just a brief and unreasonable choice that cause ladies to feel that they have gotten some help to an undesirable kid against odds of extremely durable loss of fruitlessness.

2.She further argues that although removing an unwanted pregnancy may somehow offer relief to the woman the possibility of becoming infertile especially if an unqualified person performed the operation is very significant and once you lose your fertility there is zero chance that you will regain it.

In fact, in most of the times, this feeling of relief is just a deliberate attempt by the psychology of a person to delete the sense of guilt and shame that creeps in immediately one procures an abortion.

5.A great deal of favorable to lifers would liken early termination to murder, and it is consequently ethically off-base and ought to be prohibited. Genovesi characterizes murder as a purposeful demonstration of removing the existence of an individual. He further adds that since the baby of an individual has life, then, at that point removing it will add up to killing it, which is equivalent to kill.

Making a Choice of Profession

In India it is a great problem to choose a profession best suited to one. In America there is a National Intelligence Test Bureau where everybody’s intelligence is tested. This test is carried on a mass scale. It is then quite easy for you to select the career that will suit you the most. The system will naturally save our national energy and our health. It will also help in overhauling our present educational system wh8ch is very defective.

When we look around, we see how our schools, colleges and universities are turning out innumerable young persons. They are not fit for any other job except those of clerks. We have to call these institutions as clerk-manufacturing factories. They do produce lawyers, doctors, engineers etc but ‘clerical line’, has the lion’s share on that side.

There are many factors which should determine the choice of a profession. The first and the foremost is a young man’s taste and aptitude. One who is made to follow a profession for which he has taste or liking is not likely to find himself a misfit therein. He will not be a square peg in a round hole, as the expression goes. One who has a taste for music is likely to shape well as a musician rather than as a lawyer. Rabindranath Tagore had a taste for poetry. If instead of allowing him to follow that line, he was put into some other profession, the result would have been disastrous both for himself and for the world. So aptitude is a great consideration.

Another determining factor is talent. A meritorious young man may go in for a learned profession. But there again a careful choice is to be made. For instance, if he has an argumentative brain and the gift of the gab, but no head for mathematics, he is more likely to make a successful lawyer than an engineer.

A third consideration is sufficiency or otherwise of financial resources of a young man’s family. He may have the aptitude for a particular profession, he may have the talents for it; but if his father or guardian cannot afford to pay for his education or training in that line, it is useless for him to think of joining that profession.

The competition to be faced in a particular profession has also to be taken into account in making a choice. Some professions are already overcrowded and one should try to avoid them unless there are special circumstances, which may help one’s mark in it.

After choosing a profession, there are two fundamentals for its success. First, we must be devoted to our work . We must be able to learn its secrets in the spirit of a devotee. Let us take to any vocation of life. We must work with all the zeal and enthusiasm to make our work a grand success. Secondly, we must be ready to stick to it and struggle for it. A rolling stone gathers no moss and so a drifting worker is rarely a success. The choice should be made after careful consideration, but once it is made, we must stick to it.

The choice of a profession is a matter of vital importance to every man. A right choice may make his future career bright while a wrong choice may mar it forever. It is, however, not possible for an inexperienced young man to assess his abilities for a profession or his chances of success in it. It is, therefore, the duty of his guadians and teachers to help him to make the choice.

How to W.R.A.P decisions in Life

Every living being in this universe is subjected to make decisions for their survival – be it an ant and or a humpback whale. Fortunately, humans are the only beings gifted with the power of discrimination of understanding what is right or wrong for us and making a decision accordingly. Decisions can either be positive or otherwise but the quality of your decisions will determine how deeply they would impact your life.

It's A WRAP - Better Decision Making

Chip and Dan Heath, in their book ‘ Decisive: How to Make Better Choices in Life and Work’, talk about a Framework called W.R.A.P for making better decisions
WRAP consists of four elements:
W- Widen your options
R- Reality test your assumptions
A- Attain distance before deciding
P- Prepare to be wrong

Widen your options

There is a misconception that having a lot of options can lead to confusion and is as same as seeing only the big picture. So, people narrow their frames of you and often lose possible options that could have worked better for them.
You can start finding more options by creating a mindset where none of the options you are considering is available. What else can you do? Think about it and be surprised about how many new options crop up!

Reality test your assumptions

While encountering a decision-making situation, we all tend to select the options that support our preconceived beliefs and actions. But that might not work all the time.
We can overcome this by seeking out relevant data that might redeem or discard the options at hand. Also, for example, if you have a piece of work or a product to be published you can sample your work ok for a response from a small group first instead of jumping right into the market. Reason out to yourself why you would want to make a particular choice.

Attain distance before deciding

We often let our short-term emotions cloud our rationality and take hasty decisions. It is imperative to have a well-settled mind before making an important life decision.
Try broadening your point of view. Ask yourself what a reliable third person would do in such circumstances- step into your friend’s shoes or think like someone who you look up to. This can give you a fresh perspective of the situation at hand and make you take a better decision.

Prepared to be wrong

Voice Blog: In Order To Be Original, Prepare to Be WRONG - Ben Francia

We predict a lot in our life. What if a decision that you made is based on such predictions and things actually don’t turn up the way you wanted? What then? You should be ready to acknowledge the decision’s flaw.
Think about working back from a possible future. For example, suppose your work has been published and was poorly received. Think about how the work could have been made better so that you really don’t have to face that situation. Come up with backup ideas that can act like your ‘insurance’ and protect you in case things go the other way.

The next time when you faced a situation, remember that the process is as important as the decision itself. You are the master of your life- so make sure that the decision you made don’t make your life different from what you wanted.
Trust the process!

The Choice Factor

That brisk strut with billowing robes behind. That almost sneering smirk under his hooked nose. That voice lashes out at people in the most subtle way possible. That is Severus Tobias Snape, Potion Master at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizarding, the dour ’bat’ of the dungeons. But my hero-worship for this misunderstood man has made me reflect on one of the important lessons for life-The Choice Factor.

Although Snape’s passion for the Dark Arts and the Dark Mark on his arm, along with his air of intimidation and sharp tongue attributes to his ‘villain’ aura, the choices that he made speak differently about his true character. The choices that he made say it all. It is not so surprising how similarly Snape and Voldemort are portrayed throughout the series. Both men had strikingly similar parentage; with muggle fathers and pureblood mothers and a miserable childhood. They also shared a common passion for the Dark Arts and even went on to pursue the same goals as adults, with Snape joining Voldemort’s Death Eaters in their ironic quest to establish a pureblood society.

Snape’s core differs immensely from his exterior. Real character is ultimately determined by one’s core traits, not by surface actions or attitudes. When Snape realized that the woman he loved was in danger, his alliance shifted for good and he became a spy for the Light. This was where he strayed from the path that Voldemort had taken and he had been tentatively travelling on; He chose Love over Power, Light over Dark, and Good over Evil. He thereon became one of the most critical parts of Dumbledore’s master plan to bring down Voldemort. His love for Lily Evans enabled him to see clearly through the dangerous path he was treading on, which gave the entire anti-Voldemort movement an edge over their enemies, even at the cost of his own life.

Thus we can say that Snape’s choices throughout his life redeem his character at the end of the series. The converse can also be true, as it takes a strong character and spirit to take such important decisions in life.

Choices define who we are as a person; it shows our character to the world. To enhance the probability of making better choices and surviving bad ones, personal character and inner spirit play important roles. Essentially, there is a thin line dividing any two paths or choices in life. We need to turn the thin line into a sturdy barrier. We need our consciousness and discriminating sense create these barriers to keep us centered on making better choices. Now, no one is perfect; we all make mistakes or bad choices. But how we handle the adversity, again lies in one’s willpower and character.

Choices define who we are as a person; it shows our character to the world.

Next time when you make a choice try asking these questions to yourselves:

1. What type of person do I want to be?

2. How can I be a better person by making a particular choice?

Below is a quote from a poem that has influenced me a lot. I leave you to ponder upon its meaning, at your own choice, Of course!

“Two roads diverged in a wood and I- I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference.”

The Road Not Taken By Robert Frost

BOLLYWOOD: NOT SO GLAMOROUS INDUSTRY

“Bollywood” lately has always been making headlines but this time for a change the news is not so heartwarming. Bollywood is India’s biggest film industry which has always caught the attention of millions of people who are or were planning to make their career in acting. The glamour world looks beautiful from the outside with new fashion trends, expensive lifestyle, etc.

However, the year 2020 which was a lot unpredictable witnessed the unfortunate demise of one the actor, Mr. Sushant Singh Rajput which has raised various enigmas regarding the functioning and clarity of this captivating world. The death talented actor has showcased the reality of Bollywood and has created a stir amongst the entire audience. Although, Bollywood actors who made it big with their hard work and dedication had previously mentioned ‘Nepotism’ as a hindrance in their path of success and did not get a proper chance to prove their abilities and skills were always taken as a joke and it is very much upsetting to see the facts that it costed the life of a remarkably skilled young actor for the public to consider this subject thoughtfully.

It has made the audience to recognize the fact that it is them who has the power, it is they who has raised them to stardom, and now it’s the audience have to chance and reason to choose what is right and the outrage of the public was much apparent in their response to the movie trailer of a popular personality as well as in the social media platforms against the product of nepotism with trending tweets like boycott Bollywood and famous actors and producer. This high profile stars almost rules this industry and who believes in “Monarchy”. Indian especially the Hindi film industry which actually should have been the platform to give an unbiased chance to showcase the capability of the nation, a stage were people with talent and interest had a chance to build their career is now almost over with this ugly truth coming into the forefront”. Being one of the most Prominent cinema industries rather than impacting the lives of millions of souls positively has on the contrast wrecked and shattered the dreams of people.

The time has come it’s not the actors or producers who have the power over Bollywood, we the audience have the power for it. The actors leading a life wearing masks are fake in real life. Even animals care for their kind but humans are just selfish and Bollywood has proven it with a hard-hitting reality. We have to choose who should shine and who should not and it’s high time, we need to make the right choice for the betterment for our future generation, and Let’s give the young talents a fair chance and bring back the glory of the industry along with the nation. This is the least we can do for SSR a tribute to him and let him live in our hearts and let’s not do a mistake again.

Abortion – The Debate on the Sole Choice of the Mother

Abortion is the term used to identify the act of intentionally interrupting pregnancy and not allowing the embryo or foetus to continue its normal process. The definition clearly recognizes only women reproductive parts giving a clear message that it only affects the women. But the question is whether it is actually true and justified from a general point of view.

Up to some extent, we find the world comfortable with the debate being a sole decision of the mother because there is no proper legislation regarding it yet. Our Legislation gives special Right to Women in order to encourage them to be at par to men in day to day life but no where does it mention that Men should compromise for the same. What is fair should remain fair according to law. If it is a “women’s choice” whether or not she wants to become a mother then it is also a man’s choice whether or not he wants to become a father.

When a father doesn’t have an opportunity to express his opinion it only disapproves that he as a human, can have feelings. It is totally unjust that he doesn’t have a preference in the birth of his own child. In the support of my argument, there are provisions that I feel can be enforced. Like, if both parents choose to have an abortion then the child is aborted where both of them have an equal share in costs of the procedure. But if the mother chooses to have an abortion and the father wants to keep the child then she shall not be required to fund any part of procedure or any costs that may arise from it. Similarly, if the mother chooses to keep the child but the father wanted the abortion, then the father shall have zero legal or financial obligations from the day forward. In each case, the father shall likewise be recognized, and his choice duly recorded as a matter of legal record.

Another point to give light to is, when we claim that it is only about the mother’s choice, we tend to deny the whole of father’s responsibility in the scenario. Perpetually like that men need to stay out of the discussion about abortion because it is a woman’s body is not only untrue, it is catastrophic for generations to come. It is a sort of hindrance to the society we need for its utmost development. What we need is a generation of young men who honour ladies by helping them protect the precious gift of their sexuality as it was intended to be. We need a generation of young men who will not treat women like objects but honour them with dignity and respect. A generation who will not run away when they get a woman pregnant or pressure a woman to end their life. We need a generation of men who will love their unborn child and go to utmost lengths to encourage the mother to have their baby. They must be willing to help raise the child or place the child for adoption. In addition to that, we also need a generation of women who will encourage men to take responsibility and show the sacrificial love and empathy that ought to mark men, not push them out of the conversation of abortion.

Though abortion uniquely affects women, it is not only about women. It is also about the child in her womb, and the child’s father. Because in the end, it is her body but it is THEIR baby.
