Anandi Gopal Joshi

Anandi Gopal Joshi was the first Indian female doctor and graduate with a two-year degree in western medicine from Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania, USA.

Anandibai was born on 31 March, 1865. She was raised in Kalyan, Maharashtra. Her family had been landlords for years but due to extreme taxes levied by the British, they went through financial difficulties. At the age of nine, she was married to Gopalrao Joshi, a twenty years older widower and a clerk. Originally, her name was Yamuna but she was renamed by her husband after marriage.

EARLY LIFE

They moved to Kolhapur due to Gopalrao’s transfer. Anandibai gave birth to a boy at the age of fourteen but her child did not survive due to lack of medical care. She was devastated after her child’s death and after a few months, she decided to become a doctor so that no one else has to through the pain of losing a child. She also felt the urge of becoming a doctor because women were uncomfortable with male doctors that time and were shy to discuss their problems with them. Gopalrao believed that a woman has equal right to learn and receive the education she deserves. Even before she wanted to become a doctor, Gopalrao was determined to teach her and would make her read books as much as possible. He wanted her to have her own identity besides being somebody’s wife. He relentlessly encouraged her to chase her dream of becoming a doctor. However, it was not easy to enroll her in a school, considering that people from her community opposed it. He tried to enroll her in a school in Kolhapur but constant opposition from the people compelled them to move to Calcutta.

A letter was sent by Gopalrao to American missionary, Royal Wilder, stating that her wife is interested to pursue medicine in United States and enquired about a fit post for himself. This letter was made public by Wilder in Princeton’s Missionary Review. It happened to be read by Theodica Carpenter from New Jersey. She was impressed to see Anadibai’s passion to study medicine and endless support to her by her husband that she wrote to Anandibai. They developed a close bond with each other and immensely helped by Theodica during her stay in United States. Gopalrao wanted to move to United States with her but his job and responsibility toward his family did not let him.

EDUCATION

She travelled to New York by ship in 1883. Women’s medical college was the second women’s medical college in the world, where she was enrolled after writing a letter to admit her. She began her medical journey at the age of 19. But during her medical program, she contracted tuberculous due to extreme cold weather. Gopalrao could not see her all this time and conversed with her through letters. He seemed unhappy with her lack of efforts. He managed to move to United States but when he reached there, she had graduated with MD and became the first woman in India to receive education abroad. In 1886, she moved back home, where was offered to work as the physician-in-charge at Albert Edward Hospital.

Before she passed away, every effort was made to treat her. Medicines were sent from America to treat her tuberculosis. Still, she was getting weak and medicines eventually stopped working. She kept studying medicine until her death on 26th February, 1886.

Anandibai was a true inspiration for not only women of those times but woman who dream of creating their own identity today as well. She gave confidence to woman around the world that nothing is impossible, if u have the will and determination.

Star Wars IX: Explained

The final chapter of the wonderful series concludes Rey’s story and brings back a villain from the past. This movie is the last time we see Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Leia Organa, and Mark Hamil as Luke Skywalker. Star Wars IX: The rise of Skywalker even brings back many fan favourite actors and voice actors like Ewan McGregor and Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Kylo is given stronger subordinate Knights to help with his mission, he again becomes the leader of the Knight of Ren. Rey is continuing her Jedi training under master Leia organa.

Finn and Poe Dameron learn from a spy that Emperor Palpatine is alive and operating from Exegol, Rey knows from Lukes notes that the only way to reach Exegol is by using a Sith way finder. Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewie, BB-8 and C3-PO depart on the millennium falcon looking for clues about the way finder, they reach a planet called Pasaana. The clues lead them to Lando Calrissian who helps them locate the ship of Jedi Hunter Ochi, there they find a Sith Dagger and Ochi’s remains. Rey experiences a vision of her past aboard the ship before Kylo initiates their Force bond connection. They are part of a rare Force phenomenon known as a Force dyad where 2 force sensitive subjects are connected to each other.

Kylo arrives on Pasaana with the knight of Ren and engages Rey in a duel. The first order captures the chewie and takes him away along with the dagger using a transport, Rey tries to use the Force to stop the transport from leaving the planet. Rey accidentaly uses Force lightning to destroy the transport when locked in combat with Kylo. Believing Chewie to be dead the group escapes using Ochi’s ship. The group travels to Kijimi to see a droid smith, C3-PO knows almost every language in existence but cannot translate the Sith text on the dagger. C3-Po’s programming prevents him from translating the text, so the group hopes to use a droid smith to override the programming. The droid smith is successful in extracting and translating the Sith text which leads the group to a Sith way finder.

Rey senses Chewie to be alive and the group infiltrate Kylo’s star destroyer to rescue him and get the dagger back. Rey recovers the dagger and has vision of Ochi killing her parents with it, Kylo reveals that Rey is the granddaughter of emperor Palpatine. The rest of the group is sentenced to be executed but is saved by general Hux that reveals himself to be the spy who revealed the plans of the First Order to the resistance. Hux lets the group escape using the Falcon but is discoverd by General Pryde and executed for treason. The group escape to a moon in the endor system to find the way finder, they are greeted by ex-storm troopers led by Jannah. Rey against the wishes of her friends goes to the ruins of the Death star to find the way finder alone, she fights a vision of herself before retrieving the way finder. Kylo Ren reaches the death star and engages Rey in a duel, after a brief battle Kylo stops before he could deliver the killing blow when his dying mother reaches out with the force. Rey uses this opportunity to impale Ren but heals him when she senses Leia’s death.

Rey uses Kylo’s ship to exile herself on Ahch-to fearing her own powers and future. Meanwhile Poe assumes command of the resistance along with Finn after Leias death. On Ahch-to Luke’s Force spirit convinces Rey by giving her Leias’s light saber to face Palpatine and destroy the threat once and for all. Issues with sedition law

Sedition

• Offence related to the conduct or speech that is inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or government.

• Punishable under Section 124A of IPC, 1860.
 Section inserted to IPC in 1870.
 Intent of the section – To punish an act of exciting feelings of disaffection towards the government, with disaffection being
distinguished from disapprobation.
 Differentiation important for freely voicing feelings against the government
as long as they obey govt.’s lawful authority.

Issues with Sedition law

• Low conviction rate under the section 124A IPC.
 Failure to convict due to lack of evidence.

• Vague definition, especially of the term disaffection – Difficult to differentiate disaffection and disapprobation.
 Leads to simple criticism being construed sedition – Suppressing dissent.

• Affects fundamental right of freedom of speech.
 Free speech – Most significant principle of democracy, human right,
liberty.
 Yardstick used for distinguishing harm is to be ‘high’.

 Reality – Both ‘provocative’ and ‘innocuous’ speeches or writings treated as same.

Judicial interpretations enables it to continue.

Kedar Nath Singh v. State of Bihar, 1962 – SC attempted an attenuated interpretation of the provision.
 Upheld the validity of section 124A.
 Not sedition – As long as the criticism or comment of a
citizen does not incite people to violence against the
Government established by law or with the intention of
creating public disorder.
 ‘Public disorder’ considered to be a necessary ingredient
of section 124A IPC by the courts.
 Author – Lessened the severity of the section –
Restriction imposed on free speech could not be declared
unconstitutional.
• Misused by the police or govt.
 Criminalise strident political criticism and
accuse as being ‘antinational’.

 3 political reasons:
a) To suppress criticism and protests against particular policies/projects of the government.
b) To criminalise dissenting opinion of rights defenders/lawyers/activists and
journalists.
c) To settle political scores.

• Relic of colonial legacy and is unsuited in a democracy.
• Recent development –

 Supreme Court and CJI – Indicated their intention to reconsider the sedition
provision.
 Might lead to new guidelines and safeguards for using section 124A
meticulously.

Conclusion

• Section 124A should be struck down.

WORKS OF CHARLES DICKENS

One of the most popular of the Victorian novelists was Charles Dickens. It was his stint as a reporter in The True Sun that gave him an idea about his genius. His first book Sketches by Boz was a collection of stories and descriptive pieces written for various papers. However, unlike his predecessors, Charles Dickens tended to focus on the hitherto neglected lower middle class. His fame as a novelist was cemented by the Pickwick Papers, a kind of genial picaresque novel. After this came a series of novel, whose theme often dealt the contemporary evils of society. In Oliver Twist(1838), his focus was on the evils of child-labour while Nicholas Nickleby(1839) attacked the brutality of charity schools. After The Old Curiosity Shop(1840), comes the series of holiday stories, the best of which is obviously the Christmas Carol. Thereafter, it is the time for his mature masterpieces like Dombey and Sons(1846) and David Copperfield(1849-50). Forster’s biography of Dickens entitled Life of Dickens shows how the experience of his early life had been employed imaginatively in David Copperfield. The pen which wrote the novel was often dipped in his own blood.

Although Dickens does not propound any serious social or political theory, he does not launch a scathing attack on what he considered to be the evils of time. The long drawn legal system is attached in Bleak House, the sufferings of the poor debtors is poignantly presented in Little Dorit, while Hard Times exposes the lifelessness of the mechanized society. It has been said that “his success as a novelists rests on his success as a social reformer who could moralise with a smile on his lips”.

Dickens’s representation of the spirit of Reign of Terror is excellently produced in The Tale of Two Cities (1858), that is often regarded as excellent supplement to the history of the period. As it is often the case with Dickens, He draws heavily upon his personal experiences in creating Great Expectations. Dickens enjoyed great popularity during his lifetime but his tendency to slip into bathos and his preference for caricature rather than characterization, has led to a sharp decline in his reputation as a novelist since then.

Discipline

Discipline is very important in everyone’s life. It is so important to be disciplined in the life. Discipline is not acquired from a single day. World’s most expensive burger

Chef creates ‘world’s most expensive burger’, sells it for ₹4 lakh.

A chef has created the ‘world’s most expensive burger’ and it sold for 5,000 euro, nearly ₹4.5 lakhs.

Robbert Jan de Veen of De Daltons diner in Voorthuizen, Netherlands took this interesting take on the everyday burger. He also shared an image of the dish on his Instagram page.

According to the official website of the diner, among other things, the burger is prepared using Beluga caviar, king crab, Spanish Paleta Iberico, white truffle, and English cheddar cheese. It also has a barbeque sauce that is made with one of the costliest coffee beans in the world, Kopi Luwak. Also, the bun is made with Dom Pérignon champagne dough and topped with gold leaf.

The burger was sold to Netherlands-based business conglomerate Remia International. It was then eaten by Rober Willemse, chairman of the Royal Dutch Food and Beverage Association.

The amount collected from the sale was donated to an NGO by Veen.

SPACE RACE

On July 11 British billionaire Richard Branson and crewmembers (which also included Indian origin Sirisha Bandla making her third Indian origin woman in space) from his space tourism company Virgin Galactic, reached an altitude of 88 km from the deserts of New Mexico from where it took off. Reports pointed up they experienced three to four minutes of weightlessness and safely returned and the total time taken by them was approximately fifteen minutes. Although few doubted if it was space as it did not pass over the Karman line(100 km above the earth), the business community celebrated his feat and his competitors congratulated him. Virgin Galactic has already started receiving requests for reservations from the rich.

Former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos stepped down and one of the areas he wanted to focus on post-retirement from the CEO job was space exploration. Talking of space who would not know Elon Musk’s SpaceX which persistently is working in this domain and who’s out of the space ideas and heavy experiments and trails is always making news.

But what is common in Elon Musk’s SpaceX, Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origins, and Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic is that their main motive is the commercialization of space route. Unlike previous many space travel who’s main aim was expanding scientific knowledge through research, observation, and exploration this time the entrepreneurs are more or less involved in the “space race”, and their main motive- dominating the space tourism industry and or achieving the feat first. Anyways whatever the motive(unless not far extremely on the wrong side) given the leverage they have exploring the unknown, and the less-traveled road is not completely a bad idea and might bring us something exciting in the future. It would be exciting only when it does not as a result end up slowly poisoning and degrading the space like the other capitalist industries are degrading Earth.

Importance of Health gadgets in 2021

The health tech revolution continues at its pace, by innovating various health gadgets which are helping to improve and manage our health. From electronic thermometers to medical devices that monitor vital signals to the health gadgets in our hands or in our mobile, we have witnessed a tech revolution in the health sector. Health gadgets have been playing an important role in our life for ages but in the year 2021, it plays a crucial role. Or we can say in this whole pandemic like situation, it turned out as a boon to medical facilities.

As of 2021, 2nd wave of Coronavirus disease strikes in different parts of world-leading once again to face a serious health problem. The health sectors’ priority now is only to save more and people suffering from this pandemic. And all the doctors, nurses, pharmacists, other healthcare workers have been hands-on fighting this pandemic. Apart from people, one thing that has become very important, that is needed to save human lives is health gadgets. In this pandemic situation, it is almost impossible for people to run to the hospitals, diagnostic centers for regular check-ups. People themselves are avoiding going to hospitals for check-ups. This may lead to some serious health issues so, health monitoring devices or health gadgets help people to keep an appropriate record of their health without going to hospitals or other related places. To ease everyone’s life technology industry is teaming up more with potential investors in the health sector and launching new products.

In this period of lockdown, people have been more stressed than ever before. More stress lead to serious health issues that should be seriously checked. One of the issues that occur due to stress is Hypertension. Now as people do not want to go to the hospitals for check-ups and it is not safe too to go to hospitals regularly. So people are using a digital health gadget that rightly tells about blood pressure with the help of a digital blood pressure monitor.

Diseases like diabetes in which regular monitoring or check-ups are very important. And the number of patients is gradually increasing. In this case, a blood glucose tracker is very useful than anything. It tells about the glucose level in a person and with the help of this seriousness of the disease can be assayed.

In 2021, health monitoring devices like oximeters, oxygen concentrators, pedometers have been crucially important, so these are the top-selling equipment. Patients are suffering from insufficient oxygen and breathlessness, with the rise of a number of Covid-19 cases in the world. Oximeter has become an aid to patients as it can tell instantly about the concentration of oxygen in a patient’s body. Now they can easily check it themselves in their own home and they do not have to go to hospitals and wait in the long queue to get their oxygen levels checked.  Oxygen concentrators help one to get oxygen in sufficient amounts without the need for an oxygen cylinder instantly. So oxygen concentrators have been of great help.

Making schedules is one of the best methods to manage the time. All you have to do is, think of the things what you have to do on a particular day and allot some particular time for each activity. Complete particular activity in the allotted time. When the work takes too much time, then leave it aside and go for another work. Whenever all the work is finished, go for the work which is unanswered in the beginning and complete it. This is how schedules helps for time management and makes the proper use of the time.

•Don’t spend much time on one thing:-

Spending much time on a particular thing disturbe the individual and disturbs the concentration. So, to focus on the work, an individual must go for some another work whenever they get bored on a particular work. So, it helps to focus on the work and for not wasting the time.

Time management is the process of planning and controlling how much time to spend on specific activities.

Individuals who practice good time management are able to better achieve goals and objectives, and do so in a shorter length of time.

  5. LIST OF TIPS FOR EFFECTIVE TIME MANAGEMENT:

  1. 1.SET GOALS CORRECTLY:
Set goals that are achievable and measurable. Use the SMART method when setting goals. In essence, make sure the goals you set are specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely.

  2. 2.PRIORITIZE WISELY :
Prioritize tasks based on importance and urgency. For example, look at your daily tasks and determine which are :
  • Important and urgent : Do these tasks right away.
  • Important but not urgent : Decide when to do these tasks.
  • Urgent but not important: Delegate these tasks if possible.
  • Not urgent and not important : set these aside to do later.

  • 3.SET A TIME LIMIT TO COMPLETE A TASK :
Setting time constraints for completing tasks helps you be more focused and efficient. Making the small extra effort to decide on how much time you need to allot for each task can also help you recognise potential problems before theyv arise. That way you can make plans for dealing with them.

  2. POOR WORKFLOW :
The inability to plan ahead and stick to goals means poor efficiency. For example, if there are several important tasks to complete, an effective plan would be to complete related tasks together or sequentially. That translates to reduced efficiency and lower productivity.
  3. WASTED TIME :
Poor time management results in wasted time. For example, by talking to friends on social media while doing an assignment, you are distracting yourself and wasting time.

  4. 3.LOSS OF CONTROL :
By not knowing what the next task is, you suffer from loss of control of your life. That can contribute to higher stress levels and anxiety.

  5. 4.POOR QUALITY OF WORK :
Poor time management typically makes the quality of your work suffer. For example, having to rush to complete tasks at the last minute usually compromises quality

  6. 5.POOT REPUTATION :
If clients or your employer cannot rely on you to complete tasks in a timely manner, their expectations and perceptions of you rely adversely affected. If a client cannot rely on you to get something done on time, they will likely take their business elsewhere.

A Visit to Goa- The paradise

It was in 2017 when I was in the 10th Std. The first term exams were approaching. Every year my family and I go on an outing. Previously we went to Agra-Delhi-Haridwar-Jammu. A year before that, we visited the Tirupati temple and also traveled to Tamil Nadu. But since it was my 10th std this year, my parents were reluctant of planning a trip. I requested, almost begged because we hadn’t traveled in the summer vacation because of my ongoing classes. Also, the year was too hectic and I needed a break. After a lot of melodrama, my parents agreed.

My cousin’s and my family planned a trip together to Goa. We traveled by air to Goa and returned back by train. We reached Goa within an hour. That would have been the shortest journey so far. Since it was a late-night flight, having reached our hotels, we just slept. The next day after having our breakfast, we traveled to few places nearby. We could see the splendid beauty of nature. ‘Heaven’ as they say, truly, it is! We, then, went to a beach where we could go on a dolphin-watching boat tour. We wore the life jackets, boarded our boat, and maneuvered towards the open sea. After some time, we could literally see dolphins swimming to the surface of the water. Dolphin is one of the most charismatic sea dwellers. They were a feast for eyes. Besides, we could also gaze at Goa’s very old Portuguese jail and the Millioniers palace from our boat. It was a mesmerizing experience.

Dolphin Trip

We then went to Calangute beach. Unlike Mumbai’s beaches, Goan beaches were clean and beautiful, had clear water and the blissful faces of the exuberant people enjoying there made us even more excited. No sooner we reached the beach, than my cousins and I jumped into the water. We also tried water sports. My cousins and I did jet-skiing, while my dad and uncle did parasailing. We, indeed, had an amazing time there. Since no one was willing to move out from the beach, we spent the rest of the day on the beach itself. Then, tired and sleepy, we headed back to our hotel. Another day rises, bringing in more excitement. We now visited the old Goa church- The basilica of Bom Jesus. It is a Roman Catholic-basilica and a UNESCO world heritage site. It is popular as it holds the remains of St. Francis Xavier. It was colossal and a magnificent church, as beautiful and auspicious. Then we went to the Mangesh temple. It is a Shiv temple and the largest in Goa. This temple was built before the Portuguese invasion in the 1500s. Next, we headed towards the Dona Paula jetty. It was a beautiful view there. Open sky, sea-facing, and mild wind. It couldn’t get any better! But this day was quite sunny, and we had a tough time out in the sun.

Our third day was exclusively dedicated to site seeing. We visited various places across Goa and one of them was Aquada fort. The fort was originally constructed in 1612 to guard against the Dutch. It was a sea fort and we could gaze and enjoy the scenic beauty of nature as well as the sea. We then went shopping at the Panaji market. The market disappointed us though. We had heard a lot about it but it turned out like any other normal market you visit weekly. After the sunset, we went on a Cruise ship. As we got engrossed in watching the spellbinding view, the management, then, delighted us with live performances which included Goan and Konkani dances. The host later called everybody on the dance floor and we enjoyed ourselves a lot- dancing, clicking pictures, singing, etc. This was the end of our amazing trip. Indeed, Goa is a place not for a one-time visit, as your heart would want to visit here again and again!

Ways to Manage Stress

Stress is part of being human, and it can help motivate you to get things done. Even high stress from serious illness, job loss, a death in the family, or a painful life event can be a natural part of life. You may feel down or anxious, and that’s normal too for a while. Talk to your doctor if you feel down or anxious for more than several weeks or if it starts to interfere with your home or work life. Therapy, medication, and other stategies help. In the meantime, there are things you can learn to manage stress before it gets to be too much. Consider these suggestions:

Exercise

To start with, physical activity can help improve your sleep. And better sleep means better stress management. Doctors don’t yet know exactly why, but people who exercise more tend to get better deep “slow wave” sleep that helps renew the brain and body. Just take care not to exercise too close to bedtime, which disrupts sleep for some people. Exercise also seems to help mood. Part of the reason may be that it stimulates your body to release a number of hormones like endorphins and endocannabinoids that help block pain, improve sleep, and sedate you. Some of them (endocannabinoids) may be responsible for the euphoric feeling, or “runner’s high,” that some people report after long runs.

People who exercise also tend to feel less anxious and more positive about themselves. When your body feels good, your mind often follows. Get a dose of stress relief with these exercises:

Applications

Animals

Since the time Earth developed the quality of sustaining life, life has always gone under the process of evolution. Life started from single celled organisms and developed stage by stage. One organism extinct to develop into its better developed species or even at times it happens that some animals get erased from the surface of the earth due to extreme environmental condition.

EXTINCT ANIMALS: Species of animals which existed in the surface of the earth once upon a time but has no current existence, this may have been a result of extreme environmental condition or some other condition for existence. For example, we have dinosaurs, Dodo.

ENDANGERED ANIMALS: The species of animals which have only a few animals left on the surface of the earth and are in the mouth of being extinct are known as endangered, currently this is a result of poaching i.e., unethical killing of wild animals with purpose or change in the climate due to pollution and other factors. For example, we have the Royal Bengal Tiger.

We cannot do anything for the species which are extinct but we can definitely take steps and save our endangered species. Poaching laws should be made stricter and it should be taken care that people follow them.

Different types of animals :

Scientists sort the different types of animals in the world into categories based on certain characteristics. Animals are generally grouped into six types of aninals. The system for animal classifications is called taxonomy.

The Animal Kingdom :

All animals belong to a biological kingdom called kingdom Animalia. This kingdom is then broken down into over 30 groups. About 75% of all species on earth are aninals. Animals are then broken down into two types : vertebrates and invertebrates.

* Animals with a backbone are vertebrates.

* vertebrates belong to the phylum called phylum chordata.

* vertebrates are classified into five classes. They are amphibians, birds, fish, mammals, and reptiles.

* Animals without a backbone are invertebrates.

* Most invertebrates are in the phylum Arthropoda.

1. Amphibians :

All amphibians are vertebrates, and they need moist environment or water to survive.

* They are cold- blooded.

* They absorb water and breathe through their thin skin

* They have at least one special king gland used for defense.

* Most follow the life cycle of egg-larva- adult.

* examples : frog , newts, salamanders, toads.

2. Birds

Birds are a type of warm- blooded vertebrate that are adapted to fly.

* Not all birds can fly, but they do all have wings.

* Birds have beaks that help them catch and swallow food.

* The digestive system of a bird allows it to eat whenever it can and digest that food later.

* Birds lay egg to reproduce.

* They are endothermic, mening they maintain their own constant body temperature.

* They are bipedal, which means they have two legs.

* They have hollow bones and their bodies are covered in feathers.

* Birds belong to the class called Aves.

* Examples : albatrosses, chickens, hummin birds, falcons, falmingoes, ostriches, owls, parrot, penguins, pigeons.

3. Fish :

Fish are also vertebrates, and they are considered the oldest-known vertebrates.

* They are ectothermic, or cold- blooded, which means they rely on their surroundings to regulate their body temperature.

* Fish have funs.

* Most, but not all, fish have bodies covered in scales and breathe through gills.

* Fish live under water.

* Examples : eels, hangfish, lampreys, minnows, rays, salmon, seahorses, sharks.

4. Mammals :

Mammals are another type of vertebrate that belongs to the class Mammalia.

* young mammals get nourishment from milk produced by their mothers.

* Most mammals have hair.

* Their jaw is hinged directly to their skull unlike all other vertebrates.

* Almost aĺl mammals give birth to live bsbies.

* They are endothermic, or warm- blooded.

* Examples : there are over 5500 living species of mammals all over the world. Aardvarks, bats, elephants, hamsters, human, rabbits, rhinoceroses, whales.

5. Reptiles :

Reptiles are thought to be the first vertebrates to live completely on land. But, not all reptiles live only on land today.

* They are cold- blodded, or ectothermic

* They lay eggs to reproduce.

* They have four legs or descended from animals with four legs.

* They breathe through lungs

* Their bodies are covered in scales or scutes.

* Examples : crocodiles, geckos, lizards, sea turtles, snakes, tortoises.

Invertebrates :

Approximately 95% of all animals are invertebrates. Invertebrates do not have a backbone. There are different types of invertebrates, but they all share a few characteristics.

• They are made up of many cells that work together, or multicellular.

• Most, but not all have tissues, cells that work together in a more complex way.

• Most, but not all, can move.

• There are over 35 phyla of invertebrates.

• They generally have soft babies.

Types of Invertebrates :

There are eight phyla of invertebrayes that are alive today.

* Annelida – have a segmented body and primitive brain

* Arthropoda – have jointed appendages and an exoskeleton.

* Cnidaria – have tissues and an incomplete digestive system

* echinodermata – have some type of spiny structure on their bodies

* Mollusca – generally have sofy bodies and a hard exoskeleton.

* Nematoda – unsegmented with worm- shaped bodies

* platyhelminthes – have soft, ribbon- like worms with no respiratory system.

* porifera – multicellular organisms living in water with no organs or tissues.

Examples : anemone( cnidaria) , clams ( mollusca), coral,
