BELIEVEING IN YOURSELF IS THE ABILITY TO FEEL POWERFUL WITHOUT ANYONE TELLING YOU”

I know so many have the same question in this world. People have this question because they have not yet learned who and what they truly are, and how what they are, as living, breathing beings so completely empowers their reality. No one knows this answer until who they are begins to wake up from this hypnotic dream we live in this world, and the numbing limitations and milk toast concepts we are fed to hold our attention. Only when we finally ask why, do we begin the amazing quest that begins with the question that you have asked here. Even if the question arises in defiance, it has arisen, and that is the important thing.

The powerful intelligence of the body that keeps you alive day after day is still beyond scientific comprehension in its entirety. That is YOUR body, your mind, and your heart and emotions. A human being is a wonder to behold. Even taught the half truths and self diminishing lies we are taught in this world of illusions and deception, a human being will dream, create, use their time and energy to nurture, love and seek out beauty, sharing, and belonging in their lives. They will seek out meaning, relevance, and find the courage and caring to help others when they themselves are down. They will move through one painful challenge after another and still dream of better things. They will suffer great darkness, and still strive to live another day. They can also fall into degeneration and despair, become deceptive and cruel, selfish and cold blooded. Those people are the minority.

We come into this world and are immediately DEFINED. We seem to take on roles that follow the dictates of our initial placement in life, including gender, and the experiences that follow the nature of those placements. We are ‘taught’ what things mean by those before who taught what things mean by those before who parroted yet another generation of interpretations of what life means, creating the phenomena of reoccurring patterns of ‘behavior’ and matching perceptions of ‘realty’ in order to ‘fit in’. This is how humanity came to identify ‘order’. As we know, anyone who steps out of that robotic order is labeled a rebel.

What I have just described here is called sleeping humanity. They feel like victims. They feel justified in blaming the world for their problems and they feel everyone else has the answers. They feel they have just been plopped down into a long sojourn of one scenario after the next and that their only recourse is to blame, react, whine and moan, or somehow plow through it to achieve what they want in life. In this state of vulnerability humanity has been ‘taught’ they must assign those who claim to be authority figures positions of power to ‘govern’, teach, sanction and lead them. Those ‘authority’ figures then are prompted to continue on with the paradigm of the strong leading the weak and ‘uninformed’, as they are born of the very system I have defined here.

Is is no wonder then that the question you have asked here eventually arises? What else could you wonder when your life, your unique expression and your deeper truth has been wrenched out of your hands since childhood? Children come into this world aware of a different reality. They want to do things themselves. They don’t judge their little refrigerator creations. They like every color of skin. They feel a sense of self authority and dignity of expression that is natural to them. It is natural to everyone and should NEVER have been weaned out of anyone. But guess what? After being told over and over how much you cannot do, how much more others know and how hard it is to be happy in life, kids are programmed right out of their magic, their power, their self authority and their self worth. So we get to this point. Well then, what is good about me? What strength do I have? Why am I valuable? These are all question created from the fragmented, untruths that hold sway in this world.

Why is this world like this? It is like this because it is a school. It is like a school theater that presents information that we are meant to eventually see through and WAKE up to the truth of who we really are. In this school we are presented with one illusion and self diminishing scenario after another. The goal of our journey here is to WAKE up and defy, challenge and disprove the limitations born of our programmed reality.

In this school we are presented with one illusion and self diminishing scenario after another. The goal of our journey here is to WAKE up and defy, challenge and disprove the limitations born of our programmed reality.

Now…..who are you really? I mean before you slid into the clutches of the programmed humanity you now find yourself in? You were and ARE an immortal being who is the light and power that illumines your body, heart and mind. You are absolutely equal to all beings ever created. There is no real authority above you. There is nobody sanctioned to define you as you cannot be defined by another human being. You are unique in all of the universe and cherished by the universe for that uniqueness. You are made of stardust. You are at one with the very source of all creation, and are in fact an expression OF that creator in human forms called humanity. You are interwoven currents of genius, beauty, love, wisdom and elegant vision of reality.

So why should you be self confident? Because there is a more expansive part of you who is really calling the shots here. YOU are co creating this reality from a part of your own genius you have been told to forget here. It is time to learn how it is that your own mind communicates with your source. It is time to learn how it is you ALLOW others authority over you that belongs to you. It is time now to wake up and realize how powerful the workings of your own mind are. Your own mind has created and facilitated the reality you have known. It is the power of your own belief that others have manipulated. It is time to realize that power of your own mind is here to serve you and your happiness, not to be used to diminish you. It is time to reclaim what you knew about yourself before you were stolen. This is what all of the fuss is over techniques such as Yoga, meditation, and so many many others that help to awaken who we are. This is why there is so much more information coming out, even in Quantum Physics about the REAL nature of realty that is blowing the top off of the illusions we have believed.

SAUL BELLOW AS A NOVELIST

Saul Bellow was born in 1915 in Canada to his immigrant parents who moved from Russia to Montreal an year before his birth.

“Bellow is one of the giants of the twentieth century novel.”- Irish Times

His family moved to Chicago when Bellow wa nine years old. This city has often been mentioned in his novel. He went to University of Chicago later Northwestern University. He initially wanted to pursue English but felt English faculty was anti -Jewish. Therefore opted for Sociologyand Anthropology. As a result we find his knowledge of human behaviour significant in his novels.

“Bellow and Bloom inhaled books and ideas the way we breathe air.”- John Podhoretz (Bellow’s friend0

His major works include Dangling Man (1944), The Victim (1947), Adventures of Augie March (1954), Seize the Day (1956), Herzog (1964), Humboldt’s gift (1975), Mr. Scrambler’s Planet (1970). He is the only ovelist to have been awarded with three National Book Award for Fiction in 1954, 1965 and 1971 reapectively.

Characterisation

Characterisation in Bellow’s novels are peculiar. His protagonists are mostly picaresque. They have atypical yet extraordinary characterisations. His noel The Adventures of Augie March was compared to Spanish Classic “Don Quixote”.

The protagonist shows affirmation after facing all the predicaments. For example Tommy Wilhelm of Seize the Day and protagonist of Herzo, they both are living an alienated life and searching for happiness throughout. At the end came out successful.

Autobiographical Tone is often found in Saul Bellows novels. His protagonists reflect his intentions, Chicago is the setting and heroes are mostly Jewish. In Dangling Man the hero waits to be drafted in world war 2 and in Adventures of Augie MArch, Bellow depicted his father’s ordeals and how life was during Great Depression.

“His ability to show how Great Depression felt instead of showing Depression distinguishes him from the rest.”

Individualism and quest for self identity are also his major themes. Writing style of Bellow is often descriptive- he provides minute details. For example in Seize the day, while talking about a normal conversation between Tommy and Dr. Tamkin, he provides minute details in this way:

”…. whose fingers in his pockets were feeling in the little envelops for the Phenaphen Capsules.”- Seize the Day.

He writes in a colloquial tone. He writes about blatant culture and gives historical references. As a modern novelist he considered Modern Age as=Literature as Victim Literature, His protagonist were often Victimized.

The thing which sets him apart from others is the Optimism he gave to his endings.

Tommy for example the protagonist of Seize the Day realizes the futility of materialism after getting so many failures. Therefore he was full of optimism.

Bellow’s novels have mindset different from their contemporaries. They did not contain story rather stream of consciousness was important.

He died in 2005 in Brooklyn.

Gender inequality and discrimination

Discrimination and inequality are deep rooted in the society. It can be traced back since ancient time, and this is not only on the bases of gender but, even with the skin a person is born, a person who had dark skin tone was declared a disgrace for the society they have to suffer in terms of the occupation, facilities and even to have the basic necessities fulfilled. This was a common behaviour of the society back then where a person who was born with certain skin is titled unacceptable and suffered of cruelty from his own people.

In many countries, even after so many years of independence people do suffer and the concept of discrimination and inequality is very normal for some. Specifically talking about gender-based inequality it is very common in the backward communities and in the modern society it still prevails in the thinking of people who have always accepted this as normal and not trying to change the orthodox mindset. In many cases the mindset which accepts inequality and discrimination is kind of hereditary and they can not accept change which is totally wrong. There are many households where a girl and a boy are treated differently no matter what, it is like rules are fixed but, who fix those rule ‘the society – as per the preference, likes, dislikes and most importantly what they feel is appropriate as per the narrow mindset which has not changed since infinity. It is actually painful and saddening to see a human treating another human this way, it is targeting our own people to support some ancient concepts which are hampering the growth of a society.

If we can not stop this or at least reduce the number of such incidences that are happening worldwide, how can we expect development of a nation. Afterall, we live on the same land, we breath same air, drink same water and when every one will be a part of the development process then only a nation prospers, its people prosper.

The worst part is the person who has to face all this like even from a small age for instance- if in a family there are two kids and both are treated differently then isn’t it harmful for their growth, a child can feel the difference he or she might grow introverted and disturbed mentally. If not this way, then in future, if the system remains the same the same child can experience discrimination and inequality at any other stage of life may be in terms of the opportunity they will get or even salary they will receive for the same work.

This should be learned that a person is not harmful for the society it’s the difference that we create is harmful. It is not solving any purpose but, creating unnecessary hurdles in the path of change and development. Strict laws and rules can control it up to some extend but, not fully. Today, we are still accepting changes and supporting open minded thinking so this discrimination and inequality should also end soon to have a clearer view of bright future.

The art of being happy

Being happy doesn’t means flashing a forced smile all day long, rather it means a deep sense of satisfaction and gratitude in whatever you do. It is a feeling of liberation, serenity which brings calmness to your soul and your joy is reflected by the way your eyes twinkles. Smiling or laughing is a way to express the feelings of happiness, amusement or hilariousness but it doesn’t conveys you being happy. If your brain is conflicted with many thoughts, with various things making a messy knot in your brain , your ability to think and act straight will go away. Your body’s main focus will be to make you live not to make you happy. The different processes in your body will not try to untangle your messy knots, its your will power which will have to take the initiative of untying the knots and keeping the thought process straight. It is when you have no messy untangled knots in your brain and you have the ability to think and act with your brain, you will find a satisfaction in whatever you do without any regrets .

Decisions we take should be based on entirely our choice not on the pressure or in an attempt to make others around you happy. This is because when you do the thing you mind and heart agrees to , you will find a tremendous amount of satisfaction and serenity and will be completely ready to bear the outcome of the decision whether positive or negative. The deep sense of satisfaction will make you JOYFUL which is a sign towards a happy human.

In short, when your actions and thoughts are in your control and you derive JOY from what you does is what is being called happy.

Happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in harmony with each other.

Mahatma Gandhi

Ways to keep yourself happy

  • DONOT GO BEHIND THE RAT RACE. DECIDE FOR YOURSELF. REDUCE YOUR WANTS AND INCREASE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES. – When you join the rat race by following what million other does because you will that these many people together can’t be wrong, you deprive yourself of the things that you as an individual has planned for yourself. Unplanned things seldom goes good specially when we are talking about the life changing decisions rather it be career, job, relationship or even a small thing like choosing a book. If you choose a book to read on the basis of what others have chosen because you feel that your choice is not upto mark , your mind will get frustrated and confused thinking whether it was a good decision as it already had its own plans. The state of confusion will make you feel negative snatching your peace of mind away. Also, a human has many desires but when the list of desires overpower the list of responsibilities is the time when guilt starts to seep in for not fulfilling the responsibility. The presence of guilt will birth the messy knots snatching your peace and happiness away. Make sure that your desires and wants does not overpower your responsibilities and you fulfill everything that you are accountable for on time and you have enough courage to do what you want to do.
  • DON’T LOOK AT SOMEONE WHO IS FACING LESS PROBLEMS THAN YOU RATHER LOOK UPTO SOMEONE WHOSE CRISIS ARE GREATER THAN YOURS– When you compare your crisis with the heavy baggage it will automatically feel less and your mind will stop the games of comparisons . It will understand that you are not the only person in the world to face this . There are a lot more in worse conditions. This small bit of motivation will help you entangle your messy knots and get calmness which leads to the gateway of happiness.
  • IT IS OKAY TO NOT BE OKAY –Life is full of battles and changes which makes us question are worth and rises insecurity when things goes out of our control. Remind your brain during these times that it is the courage which matters. If you let your valor down now, then your enemy which are the life crisis will overpower you. The bumpers in life are similar to speed breakers on road which are made to keep the life in control. As too much of anything is not good. In a way how a vehicle never gives up by facing the speed breakers you should also never give up while facing the problems and accept it as a part of life which will help you grow.
  • COME OUT OF YOUR PAST- Past can be haunted and traumatic. It is a nature of the brain to hold strong affinity towards the things which had gone wrong in past. Remember then that EVERYTHING IS TEMPORARY NOTHING IS PERMANENT , WITH TIME EACH THING FADES AWAY, WHETHER GOOD OR BAD. Now if you continue to hang on to the past it will destroy you present which in future become your past. Also, since the actions of present makes the future, there are chances of a spoilt future too. So LET GO. It is okay TO MAKE MISTAKES UNTIL YOU ARE LEARNING FROM IT.
  • DEDICATE YOUR LIFE TO A LARGER GOAL. SHARE YOUR HAPPINESS WITH OTHERS. KNOWING THAT YOU ARE THE REASON FOR SOMEONE’S JOYFUL SMILE AND NOT A FORCED ONE WILL MANIFOLD THE HAPPINESS MULTIPLE TIMES.

A happy soul means a healthy body. Several researches have proved that the ones who are happy have a strong immune system and a lesser risk to heart and stress problems and diabetes. A happy you will have a good mental health removing the chances of depression and anxiety monsters to ever attack you as your brain will be well trained to reach upto that goal of happiness no matter what the storm is.

RAIN RAIN GO AWAY!

It’s a relief to hear the rain. It’s the sound of billions of drops, all equal, all equally committed to falling, like a sudden outbreak of democracy. Water, when it hits the ground, instantly becomes a puddle or rivulet or flood………………….Alice Oswald

Among many other season which Bengal enjoys, the rainy season is one of them. It starts in the first week of July and continues up to September. It sets in with heavy showers which brings great relief after the hot days of Summer. The earth bursts into green grass. The wrinkled plants turn green. The dry ponds, pools and rivers are filled up with water. Nature bears a charming scenery everywhere. The farmers’ hearts swell with joy. They become busy with preparing land for sowing. The timely rainfall proves to be a happy boon to them. It brings the crop on nicely without irrigation. Thus, the rainy season is very useful and important.

But the rainy season is also the source of troubles. The village roads turn muddy. The accumulation of water here and there stops the movement of vehicles. The communication system is cut off. The possibility of the spread of many diseases becomes more. Not only this, the excessive rain causes flood. The crops are damaged and the lightly built houses collapse. People are rendered homeless and helpless. The outdoor work is prevented. The poor are bound to suffer.

However, the rainy season is liked by many people. They find the beauty, joy and attraction of the spring and the autumn in this season. The green scenery everywhere makes nature look like the newly married bride. The half-fed animals of summer look blithe and boony because of the abundance of fodder in nature. The frog’s crock, the peacock’s dance, the peasants’ song and the drizzle of rain water make nature throb with life. Thus, the rainy season is as enjoyable as the spring and the autumn.

Tattoos and Body Piercing

Body piercing and tattoos are forms of body art that have been practiced throughout history by various cultures. Tattoo and body piercing has become very popular with adolescents and adults in their early twenties. While the general public and parents may perceive this procedure as rebellious and deviant behaviours, some reasons adolescents offer for body piercing is that it is a form of body art, it is a fashionable, it makes a personal statement. Adolescents and young adults are developmentally susceptible to rebellious behavior, it is seen by many.

The design can be small and discreet or large and obvious. This art used to express individually to indicate membership in a group or to attract attentions. But such body modification carries with it the risk of health problem of ranging from minor bacterial infections to life treating illness. For example, allergies reactions, this may occur even years after they get the tattoo. Some piercing jewelers are made of nickel or brass, which also can cause allergies reaction, Blood- born disease, oral complication, Skin disorder, skin infection.

People who get body modifications have a high threshold for pain. Where the tattoo is located will generally tell a person how much discomfort will be involved. Some of the body part causes the most discomfort for men and women are: head, neck back and front of the knee, hands and the wrists just to name a few. Usually the parts of the body that has more fat or muscle build up will causes the least amount of pain.

Adolescents and adults who participating in this newest of fashion trends is a means to establish personal identity through disassociation form accepted norms, Moreover, participants with tattoo and body piercing are more likely to have engaged in risk behaviours and at a great degree of involvement than those without either.

Tattoos and body piercing are done as expressions of independence, for religious or cultural reasons, or to adorn one’s body. Tattooing is accomplished by injecting pigment into the deeper layers of the skin, usually by way of needles or air pressure.

Piercing is performed quickly and without anesthesia by either a spring-loaded ear-piercing gun or piercing needles, with the needle diameter varying from six to 18 gauge. The skin is cleaned, and then the needle and jewelry are inserted through the tissue in one swift motion. Piercing is typically completed in tattoo or beauty parlours.

While piercing and tattooing are popular, both present distinct health risks. Tattoos can lead to the transmission of infectious diseases, such as hepatitis B and C and theoretically HIV, when proper sterilization and safety procedures are not followed. Black henna tattoos can cause significant allergies and rashes , leading to renal (kidney) failure and even death in those who are sensitive to their ingredients. These types of tattoos have appeared particularly dangerous to young children. Body piercing also presents the risk of chronic infection, scarring, hepatitis B and C, tetanus , and skin allergies to the jewelry that is used. One study reported that 17 percent of college students with piercings suffered a medical complication such as infection or tearing. Use of piercing guns and preferences for upper ear piercing have led to increased infections. The force of the gun’s delivery further complicates matters around the delicate cartilage of the upper ear and some people require surgical intervention.

Body piercing and tattooing are unregulated in most parts of the United States, and illegal in some. The American Dental Association opposes oral (tongue, lip, or cheek) piercing, and the American Academy of Dermatology is against all forms of body piercing except ear lobe piercing.

There are five methods to remove tattoos when desired, including using a laser to break up tattoo pigments; surgical removal that involves cutting the tattoo away; sanding the skin with a wire brush to remove the epidermis and dermis layers in a process called dermabrasion; using a salt solution to soak the tattooed skin (salabrasion); and scarification, removing the tattoo with an acid solution to form a scar in its place. Topical steroids can often treat reactions to henna tattoos, but improvement may take several weeks.

Depending on the type of infection resulting from either piercing or tattoos, the treatment and prognosis vary. Minor infections respond well to antibiotic therapy, while blood-borne diseases such as hepatitis B and C cause life-altering results. Disfigurement may or may not be fully correctable by later plastic surgery.

Obviously, the best way to prevent infection from piercing or tattoos is not to get one in the first place. However, the risks can be minimized. Procedures should be performed in a sterile environment by an experienced professional. The person performing the procedure should remove a new needle from the plastic in front of the person to be tattooed and should put on a new pair of sterile gloves. Anyone considering a henna tattoo should require proof from the artist that he or she is using pure, safe brown henna, not the unsafe black henna.

Piercing should be completed with smoothly polished jewelry made of 14 or 18 carat gold, titanium, surgical steel, or niobium. An allergic reaction can result with the use of jewelry made of brass plate or containing a nickel alloy. Healing time from a piercing ranges from six months to two years. A piercing should be completed in a sterile environment that uses every precaution to reduce the risk of infection. Excessive force, such as exerting a strong pull, should never be applied to jewelry inserted into pierced body parts to avoid tearing and injuring tissues.

SUPERSTITIONS AROUND THE WORLD

There are a lot of times when our grandparents or parents have stopped us from doing certain things at certain times. I have always wondered how or why do people believe that certain things as such happen. We all can name a couple of superstitions but here are some from all around the world.

KNOCKING ON WOOD

Indo-European, Celtic, or possibly British

The Indo-European or Celtic belief that spirits resided in trees could be either called for protection or chased away by knocking on their home. Most likely among the different theories, historians have attributed the superstition to a 19th-century British children’s game called “Tiggy Touchwood” in which players claimed immunity from being tagged by touching the nearest piece of wood. Adults picked up on the habit and the phrase ”Touch Wood”.

BROKEN MIRROR

Ancient Greek/Roman, and European

The belief that a broken mirror brings bad luck most likely has its origins in the simple fact that reflections of ourselves are uncanny and often unnerving. It was the ancient Romans who said that a broken mirror would bring seven years of bad luck as it was believed that only poor health would cause a mirror to crack.

STEPPING ON A CRACK

African and European folklore

The superstition of “stepping on a crack” as foretelling, or even causing, harm to a family member. As with mirrors, cracks—in the earth, on a sidewalk, or almost anywhere—have long been seen as portals to the realm of the supernatural, for both good and ill.

LUCKY HORSESHOE

Ancient Roman, Celtic/British Isles, Europe

The earliest origins of the horseshoe’s function as a good luck charm reside in its vulval shape. The most famous story of a horseshoe bringing good luck, however, refers to the story of Saint Dunstan, who apparently worked as a blacksmith prior to attaining sainthood.

BLACK CAT

European

Things only went downhill for black cats from there, with people of the Middle Ages burning them in bonfires on Holy Days like Shrove Tuesday, the first Sunday of Lent, and even Easter, and with the Puritans in America connecting them to the practice of witchcraft. Also, the color black has long been associated with evil and death, which didn’t help matters for our furry friends who had the misfortune of being born the color of night.

FRINGERS CROSSED

Western Europe, Pagan & Christian

The superstition of crossing one’s fingers is responsible in bringing good luck from pre-Christian, Pagan times in Western Europe, when the practice of making a cross with your own and the index finger of another person was thought to bring the forces of good spirits and to seal a pact or a wish with the fellow-crosser.

THE NUMBER FOUR

China

As we’ve seen with numbers like thirteen and seven, numbers are frequently assigned different magical significance or status depending on the culture in question. For the Chinese, the number “four” is a no-no, due to the similarity in its pronunciation, in Chinese, to the word for “death.”

CURSE OF THE EVIL EYE

Mediterranean and Middle East

It’s a common belief that’s been held for thousands of years that to achieve too much success would be to invite the anger or inspire the envy of the gods, who would then attract the unfortunate individual with a reversal of fortune. In response to the fear of this curse, people across the ancient Mediterranean began using amulets and beads with an image of an ‘evil eye’, sometimes referred to as nazars, which would then help ward off that horrible.

ITCHY PALMS

Caribbean

It is a common belief that an itchy left palm means you will owe money soon, whereas an itchy right palm means money is coming your way. There is an explanation that might tell us why such a distinction. The left hand seems to hold passive energy, and the right hand active energy which symbolically could explain the coming in and out of money.
