Is China's crypto mining ban an opportunity for other countries?

China’s role in crypto world

Let’s begin with basics China Holds most crypto which holds
for about 70% even after several restrictions by the Chinese Government from Not
accepting crypto to stopping mining in 2021. The Chinese legislation over
crypto is also one of the reasons for market crash. But for facts China also
holds largest numbers of miners in the world, China also ended the fundraisers
for the cryptocurrencies.
 As we
know cryptos are an online currency that can be stored in an e-wallet. And this
is not a safe way to make transactions with these currencies for governments.
Because the government has not any control over it. Cryptos are not traceable,
anyone never knows where the transaction has happened and who makes this.

So, the government also unable to trace any crypto transactions. And the
terrorist and illegal workers take this advantage of cryptos. They make illegal
transactions and they never have been traced by the governments. No banks have
controlled these transactions and cryptos are not verified currencies. These
are online untouchable money.

Most of the illegal transactions have happened in China. And government
cannot trace they’re for cryptocurrencies, so China’s president Xi Jinping
totally ban cryptocurrencies and crypto mining from China.

Opportunities for other counties

If we talk about largest countries to hold crypto, your
brain will go on default

USA or Russia but the fun part is it’s Africa, Nigeria to
be precise (32%) of the crypto is hold by Nigeria

But the question arises how these countries are taking
these opportunities?

Whenever this crash occurs countries like these invest
large amount of money in crypto for Nigeria alone $400,000,000 (190 billion naira) worth of cryptocurrency was
traded by Nigerians

After Ban in China Countries like Japan, USA, Nigeria Has
Coined this moment and crypto mining is increasing day by day in these
countries.

Crypto And USA

Currently USA is trying to be no.1 in Crypto market by
accepting bitcoin and dogecoin as mode of payment Tesla you’re hearing me
right, jokes aside USA is trying hard to be next China in terms of crypto
mining by implementing less taxes and legislation over the currencies which is
like piece of cake for the miners and even endorsement of currency like
Dogecoin- you never thought it’ll go this up haven’t you by Beloved Crypto
Crasher Elon Musk, These are the reasons why people are interested in
Crypto In USA and turning out huge profits

Will crypto last long?

No as Countries Like China and India aren’t confident on
cryptocurrencies because of fluctuation in price and inflation countries are
not willing to invest in crypto and the major problem is highly priced hardware
and as global warming is increasing countries are on the go on green energy and
less carbon emission on where crypto mining is totally opposite

Adolescent psychology

Psychology is the science of mind and behavior. It is the study of how people behave, think, feel and react in relation to a particular field of knowledge or their personal circumstances of life. There are various psychologies behind our happenings in life and in particular let us know about the psychology behind adolescence which is very salient for every individual to know about. Adolescence is the transition period between childhood and adulthood.

It encompasses some big physical and psychological changes accompanied by some intricacies and challenges as the individuals may not be aware of the changes in them. It is a very important stage of life with specific health and developmental needs and rights. It is a time to promote knowledge and skills, learn to cope up with the feelings and relationships, manage emotions and acquire attributes and abilities to the enjoy the adolescent age.

Adolescent psychology focusses on the issues that are unique to adolescents. Adolescence is a time of fluctuating and rapidly changing interests and desires, high energy, sexual maturation, physical growth and limited emotional insight. It can be full of exciting discoveries and changes as teens develop unique personal traits. Physical changes can be tracked by all but some some of the mental transitions could push them into a state of anxiety and distress and this stresses the need to know about adolescent psychology as everyone could not afford a psychiatrist all time. So it is very important for all the parents and the individuals as well to understand about the mental changes and how to handle the trauma.

When the adolescents grow into independent personalities there is also some growing pressures to evolve into a responsible person while they tussle with issues like sexuality and peer relationships. Adolescent psychology helps them with the transition from a child to an adult. If anyone is struggling with the teenage life, it is very normal and here the parents should play an important role by making it normal without putting their children in more torment. What are the problems that adolescents more likely to go through?

  • Be more impulsive
  • Mishandle or Misunderstand emotions and social cues.
  • Indulge in making vulnerable decisions, physical fight.
  • Risky behaviors, mental health disorders, emotional assault, anxiety.

So this period is a quite complex process where they become more prone to the above mentioned complications. Brain development during this period is particularly important. The areas of the brain that allows teens to control behaviors and emotions experience significant development during this phase. Teenagers also acquire the the capacity to think and act more efficiently due to changes in the myelin and synapses of the brain. Many physical changes drive the changes of the ability to think and behave.

Teens equally perceive opportunities and challenges as well. Imagination and complex reasoning develop exponentially in this phase where they develop cognitively. Individuals need to be made aware of the complications and made to be understood that it is okay to have infatuations, sexual attractions, behavioral changes, or any kind of anxiety or depression. The most important fact that drives them crazy is they think that only they experience these sort of challenges. As we educate children about the physical hormonal changes in school it is as important to teach them about all the mental changes that occur. Parents can contribute on a greater note to help the troubled teens out of these difficulties by creating a culture of open communication to get to know about their thoughts and opinions, granting them some responsibilities in the family , guiding their attitudes and beliefs, establish boundaries and rules, understand the reason behind the anger or grief, promote their self esteem and make their adolescence a gratifying one!

IS TECH THE REASON FOR DESTRUCTION OF NATURE ?

In today’s world, humans are in a very relaxed cycle: they eat, they watch television, they sleep. What most people do not realise are the health risks they are taking every day when they do their daily tasks. Humans are becoming more and more reliant on machines to do simple activities, such as changing the channel or traveling. I agree that technology does make activities uncomplicated, and genuinely makes life easier, but how can a person stay physically fit and healthy when he/she does nothing himself/herself? In Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, many environmental issues are discussed. Among the issues, Quinn talks about technology and how humans believe it to be a turning point in society, but will eventually lead to the downfall of humans.

People are at great risk to their health with the advancements in technology. Not only have individuals fabricated new ways of entertainment, but have built factories, which pollute the air they breathe and water they drink. In Ishmael, Quinn tells of man trying to fly; when man fails, he does not just simply give up and wait to fly, but creates a new way, that is not fool-proof. Humans will do anything to make life easier, but for no reason than to make life easier. But is this really making life relaxing? People still have to go to work, still have to breathe in polluted air, and other such effects, all of which may be hazardous to their health. Humans keep creating objects that are harmful to the environment, and they call this “technology.” Well, this may be “technology,” but obviously citizens do not see that it is taking control of their lives. Most technology is for luxury and entertainment, while a select few fabrications are necessities, (airplanes, food machines, etc.). People really need to stop relying on artificial intelligence for simple tasks.

Criminalization of Politics

At present we very often come across the words criminalization of politics. The meaning of the term is quite known to educated people and newspaper readers. When politics or political power is used by self-interest-seeking persons for pecuniary gains or various other advantages such as to get a special position in administration or to rise to the higher stage of administration which is normally not feasible. So criminalization of politics means to use politics or political power for nefarious gains. To gain something not legal or normal has been called a crime. Here the word crime is used in politics in a special sense.

India can vaingloriously claim itself as the world’s largest democracy, but can’t hold up to claim to be the greatest democracy of ideal representatives. Because, there is a constant and audacious increase over the years in the number of candidates in the elections, whether for Parliament or the state assemblies with criminal cases against them.

The ADR ( Association for Democratic Reforms) analysis shows that the candidates facing criminal charges had more chances of winning as compared to those with a clean record and this raises the question as to why Indians elect criminal politicians? It is usually said that people vote for criminals out of fear. Indian voters elect criminals due to the benefits of the divine they would receive from them since the politicians would have huge discretionary power over the implementation of policies that enable the distribution of benefits to the public

Criminalization of politics in India includes political control of the police, state money, corruption, weak laws, lack of ethics, values, vote bank politics, and loopholes in the function of the election commission. Having a weak rule of law in India is the main reason that has led to an increase in alternative forms of dispute resolution.

Conclusion

Every country’s fate depends upon its politics. Abraham Lincoln says, “ Democracy is a government of the people, by the people and for the people”. But now, the rule of law can only be found in books. Criminals, powerful people, the machinery have formed such a dangerous cocktail that is now proving to be poisonous for society. Corruption and criminalization of politics are ruining the roots of democracy.

how COVID change my life

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has had a global effect on people’s lifestyles. Many people have become physically inactive and developed irregular eating patterns, which leads to unhealthier lifestyles and aggravation of lifestyle-related diseases; these, in turn, increase the severity of COVID-19.

The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which occurred in China in December 2019, was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization in March 2020 and has rapidly spread all over the world, including Japan. The first COVID-19 case in Japan was identified on January 15, 2020, and private companies subsequently started to introduce a remote working policy prior to official stay-at-home recommendations issued on February 20. Schools were closed on March 2 and on April 7, a state of emergency was declared, and stay-at-home requests were extended.

Colleges, Universities, and schools are closed with no certainty as to when they will be open. Though there is a need to adopt new changes in the education system. Technology has become a life saver for the students in this time. There are several sets of guidelines and plans issued by the government.

Then started the new form to continue with classes i.e ONLINE platform. No idea when we are sleeping when we are eating when we are getting up when we are playing? We get up in the morning with the link to join the class. This situation is very painful to all the students There is a lot of students who didn’t have the resources for online classed and E-leanings. They are struggling to obtain the gadgets required for online learnings. Listening to lectures online is much more different from how we were copying from the board where the teacher used to write. Frequent disconnection, blurred videos are hardly connected a student from the teacher to the topic they are covering on.

We were not aware of how this situation came up but we have to deal with this together. Updating the infrastructure and thinking about the students who can’t afford the education due to the loss of their parents’ jobs and many other reasons can be helpful. Besides building the digital infrastructure, training has to be given to the teachers to use those infrastructures and to provide authentic and seamless education to the students of India. Successful delivery of education is important because learning from a digital platform is far more different than learning in the classroom.

GST ( GOODS AND SERVICE TAX )

India is notorious for its complex tax system it is almost impossible for new businesses and startups to understand the direct and indirect tax systems, this problem gets even more aggravated when constant changes are made to taxes with each financial year but things change with the new goods and services tax commonly known as GST.

GST is abbreviated as Goods and Service Tax. It is a very good step taken by our government of India to make a developed country. This system is launched by our honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi on 1st July 2017. GST is the one tax system that is really helpful for the people. The main aim of this tax system is really helpful for the people. The main aim of the tax is to reduce black marketing and make it easy for business people to analyze tax.

There are mainly three taxes in GST

Central Good and Service Tax (CGST)
State Goods and Service Tax (SGST)
Integrated Goods and Service Tax (IGST)

GST is divided into two types one is goods and service tax that is abbreviated as SGST and central and service tax which is abbreviated as CGST. Transport of goods comes under integrated goods and service tax which is abbreviated as IGST.

There are four slabs in the GST system. They are 5%, 12%, 18%, 28%. These slabs are divided based on how essential the goods are? Many items of daily need like milk, bread, butter, and health facilities have been exempted from GST. The prices of some items have reduced like coffee, eating in restaurants, confectioneries while prices of some items have increased like cars, air traveling

GST has brought a major change in the indirect taxation system. It is beneficial for consumers, traders, and also the government. Though it has few drawbacks, it should not be the reason to demean a system that has many long-term advantages. In my opinion, GST is a historic move by our government that has brought major changes in our taxation system by implementing one Nation one tax. The GST is obviously not a panacea for all ills of India’s economy. It is nevertheless a revolutionary and long-pending reform. It promises economic growth and jobs, better efficiency and ease of doing business, and higher tax collection. We hope that its imperfections and potential pitfalls will be sorted out as we roll it out.

LGBT RIGHTS IN INDIA

                                                                   (Photo: iPleaders Blog)

Every cloud has a silver lining.” This proverb goes well with the historic judgement passed by the Supreme court on 6th September 2018 in the favor of LGBT community rights. This has been much debated topic since a long time. Nothing could be more blessing than the enactment of Article 377 for the relief of LGBT community. The hearing of the petitions began with a bench consisting of Chief justice Dipak Misra and justices DY Chandrachud, AM Khanwilkar, Indu Malhotra, and Rohinton Fali Nariman. It was truly a landmark decision which struck down a 19th century law criminalizing homosexuality in India.

What role does the Indian Constitution play towards the emancipation of the society’s most marginalized and excluded? What vision does the Constitution espouse with respect to basic fundamental rights and freedoms? And what conception of inclusion and pluralism does the Constitution pursue in a society that remains deeply divided and disjointed? All these searching questions came to form a distinct part of the decision of the Indian Supreme Court (Court) when it was called upon to rule on the constitutional validly of Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. It was not the first time however, that the Court was examining Section 377 on the touchstone of the Constitution, as the case previously travelled through several levels of judicial adjudication involving different jurisdictional procedures.

Embodying the ethos of Victorian morality, Section 377, a colonial-era law, criminalized ‘…carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal…’. Anything that was not penal-vaginal sexual encounter was ‘against the order of nature’ and as a consequence ‘unnatural’. Through this provision, homosexual acts even between consenting adults was considered and proscribed as a criminal offense punishable with imprisonment. Thus, a significant section of the population comprising the LGBT+ community remained perpetually ostracized by the Indian society, persecuted by State authorities and marginalized in the discourse of constitutional rights. Therefore, when the Court decided in Navtej Johar v Union of India that Section 377 in so far as it criminalizes same sex acts between consenting adults, violates the constitutional mandate enshrined under the Fundamental Rights chapter, especially, Art. 21 (life and personal liberty), Art. 14 (equality and equal protection of laws), Art. 15 (non-discrimination) and Art. 19 (Freedom of expression), truly, it was a historic undoing of injustice towards the LGBT+ people. In other words, as a result of this decision, LGBT+ people who were historically and by default considered ‘criminals’ under the law, came a bit closer to acquiring an ‘equal moral membership’ of the society and the State. It was a tough as well as a long road but at the end everything seemed to be mightier.

Let us look back into the history of India from where the seeds of this discrimination were actually sown. India has a long tradition of tolerance for all kinds of beliefs, faiths, philosophies, and ways of living. This takes us back to the 1800s. Lord Macauley first created this law in 1860 when he was the President of the Indian Law Commission. The reason for this law was because the British WANTED TO “impose Victorian values” on the colony of India. Not only were such values trying to be inflicted on the Indian society but also the Constitution of India wanted to “…narrow constructions of patriarchal gender relations and heteronormativity” (Ramasubhan 91).

What’s important and a reflection of the movement itself is that the support has come not just from the queer people, but across a range of actors, movements and institutions.  Progressive groups, state bodies like the National Human Rights Commission, teacher’s associations, professional associations including the medical and mental health establishments, women’s groups, student groups, trade unionists and private companies came out publicly against the judgement. Thousands across the country stood together, repeating the chant that brought together our resistance: ‘No Going Back’.

In declaring Section 377 to be unconstitutional, however, the Court was deeply reflective about the fact that for Constitutional rights to acquire a meaningful purpose for the marginalized communities, disciplining State action alone will not be sufficient. In this regard, the Court did not mince words when it stated that it is both, criminality of the law and the ‘silence and stigmatization’ of the society towards the LGBT+ community that orchestrates the marginalization and the exclusion of the former. Implicit in that claim was the understanding that inequality, hierarchy and prejudice transpires as much from State action as it does from societal sanctions, community conventions and private relationships. In the context of such social realities, what is the stated role of the Constitution and the laws? Is the mandate of the Constitution simply confined towards ordering the relationship between the State and the individual (vertical) or does the Constitution have an equal role to play in shaping normative values among individuals within the society?

The Court unequivocally embraced the latter narrative and found that the Indian Constitution envisions an expansive role for both the State and the individual to actively promote social change within the contours of the Constitution. It seeks transformative change ‘in the order of relations not just between the State and the individual, but also between individuals’. The transformative potential in Indian Constitution is a conscious ‘attempt to reverse the socializing of prejudice, discrimination, and power hegemony in a disjointed society’. Therefore, the Constitution, the Court surmises, obliges not only the State not to violate fundamental rights, but also individuals to ‘act in a manner that advances and promotes the Constitutional order of values’.

“Sexual orientation” is an essential attribute of privacy. Discrimination against an individual on the basis of sexual orientation is deeply offensive to the dignity and self-worth of the individual. This judgement can be considered as a revolutionary one in a society like India. But every judgement has two parts, one is written and other is its execution. The written part is progressive and reformist and its execution includes sensitizing the society and institutions in accepting what is written in this judgement. That may take time. Till then I would like to put forth some suggestions. The first step is sex education in schools and at homes. The second step is that the law enforcement agencies such as the police needs to be more sensitized towards the LGBT people. Similarly, our media and film fraternity can play a very important role in imparting knowledge and disseminating true information about LGBT people.

To conclude, we all are equal.  Nobody should be discriminated on whatsoever ground.  In the last few years LGBT are gaining acceptance in many parts of India. Many Bollywood films have dealt with homosexuality. They have also fair well at the box office. There’s a transformative constitutionalism which is happening and the real import of transformative constitutionalism lies in positive measures that the State ought to take in bringing the Constitution closer to the most deprived. Indian society needs to shrug off its old thinking and come out of the widely prevailing homophobia.

Eat, Pray and Love| Life lessons to look forward to!

You need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select your clothes every day.

Summary:

Elizabeth Gilbert’s perfect world comes shattering down when she gets divorced. She then embarks on a journey across the world in an attempt to rediscover her true self.

Book adapted from: Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman’s Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia

“Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it.

Review:

Liz Gilbert- a women in a subtly failing marriage, successful life, and a safe home. She has everything one dreams about. She hits the stage of crisis in faith and realizes hard truths of her marriage. She leaves him and travels around Italy, India and Indonesia to find herself. Doing so isn’t easy. She hits roadblocks and understands that she, herself is her biggest hater.

Liz went to Bali for a Yoga magazine work, and she met Ketut Liyer. He reads her palm and lays out her near future. He inspires her to travel to know answers to her questions. She regains her love for cuisine, her body, her likes, and her dislikes. After meeting and conversing with people she meets in Italy, her love for food and meaning of life starts building. The notion of perfect body, extreme diet, and insecurities one might have about their body is pondered upon here.

She visits her guru’s ashram, introduced by David, a short love-interest she had after her divorce. Her initial days at ashram is challenging. She meets Richard from Texas, who gives her a push in understanding the true meaning of meditation and life here.

Instead of trying to forcefully take your thoughts out of your mind,  give your mind something better to play with. Like pure divine love.

She then tries to focus her prayers on someone and find more meaning to “Praying“. She then decides to stay there for few more months. Richard helps her to find freedom- letting go, forgiving- and resolves things between her and her ex-husband. She is greatly affected by meditating in Ashram. The Author has left 2 poems to express gratitude.

“I’m here. I love you. I don’t care if you need to stay up crying all night long, I will stay with you. If you need the medication again, go ahead and take it—I will love you through that, as well. If you don’t need the medication, I will love you, too. There’s nothing you can ever do to lose my love. I will protect you until you die, and after your death I will still protect you. I am stronger than Depression and I am braver than Loneliness and nothing will ever exhaust me.”

She visits Bali, Indonesia to meet Ketut Liyer again, She meets Felipe and her journey to refine the meaning of “Love” and trust again begins.

“Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it.

This movie, book and several more books by Elizabeth Gilbert is going to be a part of my life forever. The moment we let ourselves be receptive to healthy thoughts, they are bound to be grown when you nurture them occasionally with love and faith. Even the slightest beam of sunlight (Metaphors for faith and hope) is enough to keep you going, trying again and again without pondering over growth rate compared to others. Go with your own pace.

it is a book and a movie which you must see and read at least once.

ONE NATION ONE RATION CARD

The Supreme Court had earlier ordered the implementation of Centre’s One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) scheme across the country by July 31. Just days before the deadline Delhi Cabinet on July 19 decided to implement the scheme. All the beneficiaries would get ration free of cost in a phased manner through e-PoS devices on biometric authentication at all fair price shops (FPS) across Delhi.

“Migrant beneficiaries under national portability having proper ration cards and who have been identified under the National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA) in their parent state would also get ration free of cost under this plan. The Delhi government has decided to continue the distribution of ration free of cost up to November 2021,” an official statement said.

What is One Nation One Ration Card scheme?

The ONORC is a central government initiative that allows eligible beneficiaries to avail food grains they are entitled to, under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) from any Fair Price Shop (FPS) also known as ration shops across the country.

The scheme eliminates the need to obtain a new ration card for the new location.

A pilot run for the inter-state portability system was started by the union minister in two clusters of adjoining states — Andhra Pradesh-Telangana and Gujarat-Maharashtra in 2019. This enabled beneficiaries from either states’ cluster to avail benefits under the NFSA from any of the two states.

This is aimed at ensuring that the beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and other welfare schemes, especially the migrant workers and their families, get ration from any Fair Price Shop (FPS) across the country.

Other aims of the intended reform were to better target beneficiaries, elimination of bogus/duplicate/ ineligible ration cards, and thus enhance the welfare and reduce leakage. For this, the reform conditions stipulated Aadhar Seeding of all Ration Cards, biometric authentification of beneficiaries, and automation of all the Fair Price Shops (FPS) in the State.

Who are eligible beneficiaries under the ONORC?

The beneficiaries under the system are ration cardholders who are eligible to get food grains from fair-price shops. Ration cardholders can buy up to 5 kg of rice at Rs 3/kg, wheat at Rs 2/kg, and coarse grains at Rs 1/kg per month, as mandated under the National Food Security Act passed in 2013.

Under the previous process, migrants had to apply for new ration cards at their new locations if they want to buy subsidised food grain, as the cards are linked to their residing places.

However, the new system helps the large migratory population to avail the benefits anywhere across the country.

How many states have implemented the One Nation One Ration Card scheme?

According to the Union Finance Ministry’s latest update, 17 states have successfully operationalised the One Nation One Ration Card system with Uttarakhand being the latest State to complete the reform. The 17 states that have implemented the scheme are Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh.

CYBER SECURITY

Cybersecurity means protecting data, networks, programs, and other information from unauthorized or unattended access, destruction, or change. In this era where the use of computers has become commonplace, cybersecurity is a major concern. The rapid development of technology and the availability of the internet to most of the public, has become commonplace, cybersecurity is a major concern. The rapid development of technology and the availability of the internet to most of the public, has broadened the pathway of cybercrime.

There is a different form of Cyberattacks like viruses, Malware, spyware, phishing, ransomware, fraud, etc. Clicking infected web pages, malicious websites, links or unintentionally downloading a dangerous program also allows hackers to gain illegal access to other computer systems. According to a report, India Steel ranks higher than Global peers as there are 54% Malware and ransomware attracts in India as compared to 47% globally. Yahoo also acknowledges that in India 3 billion accounts were breached in 2013.

Cybersecurity is equally important for local, state, and central governments as these organizations maintain a huge amount of confidential data and records concerning the country and its citizens. Yet several government organizations face difficulty in protecting data because of inadequate secured infrastructure, limited funding, and lack of security awareness. Stealing of confidential data or sensitive information, digital by terrorists from government organizations, as well as digital spying can lead to serious threats on a country. For this reason, cybersecurity is of paramount importance for government organizations also and is a vital asset to the nation

Cybersecurity offers a variety of career paths depending on the level of experience you have and your area of expertise. You can be an analyst/engineer, network administrator, programmer, or data analyst and many more other positions available depending on your area of interest and experience. Some jobs a required while others are possible as long as it relates to your field in the security field such as computer science or finance. If you’re looking for a career that will pay well, then cybersecurity is the right choice for you because it’s relatively new and will only continue to grow.

Radio Script

Introduction:
Radio is a way of communicating using radio waves. Radio can be used for numerous purposes. In the early 1990’s, they were used to learn about political happenings and things going around the world. These days they’re used for listening to music and also many radio shows impart knowledge to their listeners. In this article, I’ll be giving an example of how to write a radio script. This is an interview with two great personalities who have done tremendous work in the social field.

Script:
J – Good morning Bangalore! This is Joy and I welcome one and all to radio campfire. So today’s show is going to be very informative and I request you all to pay utmost attention to what is being said and if need be you can as well take down a few pointers/notes. So today we have with us, two very special guests, who have gained great popularity in their respective careers or work fields because of their hard work. Two very known social workers, we have Ms. Eden Everett, who is a Child Welfare social worker and we have Ms. Tessa, who works for children with disabilities. Hello and welcome to my show today. It’s an honour to have you guys here .

EE – thank you for having me.

TS – thank you for inviting us. It’s a pleasure.

J – So I’ve been wanting to invite the both of you for the longest time and it finally happened. I’ve heard a lot about you guys and can’t wait to talk to you further about things that are very important for one and all to know in today’s time.

EE – yes ofc.

TS – I’m excited!

J – So first and foremost, I’d like the both of you to introduce yourselves and talk a little about yourselves. We’ll start with Ms. Eden.

EE – Thank you, Joy. Hello everyone! I’m Eden Everett and I’m a child welfare social worker. I’ve been working in this field from the past 7 years and it’s been a great experience.

J – As we proceed, we’ll talk more about it.

EE – Yes, sure.

J – And Ms. Tessa?

TS – Yes thank you . Good morning everyone. I’m Tessa and I’m a social worker. I work for the children who suffer from various disabilities.

J – That’s great! Thank you for the introduction. So, I’d like you guys to ellaborate a little more and tell everyone what it is that you guys do and how do you help people?

EE – So since I specialise in child welfare assistance, what we do is we serve some of the most vulnerable children, youths and families. We specialise in building on the strenghts of families and helping them to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the children and youths.

J – That’s interesting. And Ms. Tessa?

TS – Yes so, I specialise in helping children with any form of disabilities. We give them assistance and make sure that their environment is as healthy and friendly as possible.

J – Ms Tessa, so the field that you work in,the children are usually very introverted and most of the times they don’t like sharing with their parents about the abuse they suffer because of their disabilities or the difficulties they face! How do you deal with such cases?

TS – So I’ve been working in this field for about 8 years now and I’ve seen every sort of scenarios where the children had to suffer and some cases where the children brought it upon themselves that they want to be treated the way they’re being treated. So most of the children that I spoke to wouldn’t open up to me at first and they’d slowly start talking and sharing their experiences. But some were so traumatized that they wouldn’t even blink an eye, which was very painful for me to look at. But I’ve learnt different ways of communicating with such kids and I’m trying my best to help them in any way possible.

J – that’s amazing! So glad that you took the initiative to do so much research and to help them in any way possible. So Ms. Tessa, there are sometimes, a few cases where the parents give up on their children and keep demotivating their children, constantly reminding them of their disabilities and forcing them to accept that harsh and abusive behaviour that they experience instead of being their support system! What do you have to say about that!

TS – Yes that’s a very good question. About that, there have been also many instances where the parents would give up and they’d start showing their frustration on the children. So what we do is that we not only assist the children but we also help the parents of the children to understand their child’s legal rights. We help parents learn to be advocates and find special services that enable their children to be as independent as possible.

J – That’s so nice of you! I’m so glad that you take so much initiative to help them lead a better life, if not the best.

TS – thank you! That means a lot but I’m still working towards it! I’ve still got a lot to learn.

J – I hope the best for you.

TS – Thank you.

J – what about the services? Are they available at ease or how do you go about that?

EE – Yeah we have groups of social workers alloted in different states. We’ve tried to provide help and service across the country as much as possible and we’re still trying to broaden the network of helpers. We’ve also given out numbers that they could dial in order to receive help or merely even if they just want to talk about it. Any sort of help provided is very crucial and important for us.

J – That’s great. And Ms. Tessa?

TS – I think at the end of the day, if you look at it, though we specialise in different fields of social working and aid, we all comprise or fall under the same category that is social worker or proving aid. So I think when it comes to services, we follow the same pattern. We have groups that are 24/7 at service when required and we have the numbers given out, where the person if unable to meet in person, can talk about their problems and seek help because Joy, as you see there have been quite a few cases where the one suffering just needs someone to listen to him or her and that itself gives them so much peace and encouragement. So it is very important that we realize that even the tiniest amount of help, be it as mere as just listening to the one suffering, might be something very simple for us but in many ways it changes their life.

J – Absolutely true. Any sort of help that can be given out counts and is just as important as any sort of counselling or service provided .

TS – yes

EE – Absolutely. In fact, I’d like to point out that the children or youth I’ve helped these past few years have now taken upon themselves to help kids and youth who suffer from what they were suffering and I feel so proud of them for finally building up that courage and self-esteem to finally get over things or past experiences.

J – Thank you so much for the ending remarks. It was a please having the both if you on my show. I genuinely want to thank the both of you and your teams for the immense help and service you provide for those in need and help them live a happy and better life. And lastly, to all my beautiful listeners, don’t forget to be kind, spread love and always know that hating or looking down on someone will bring you no good. It’s better to realise from the past mistakes and strive to become a kind, empathetic human being. That is all for today. Thank you for listening, stay safe and I’ll meet you guys again next week.

Conclusion:
The above Radio script is just an example of how one could write a script. Just keep in mind that the questions need to be very clear and there must be no communication gap between the interviewer and the one being interviewed as that might confuse the listeners.

Patriarchy and women.

Man is a social animal, and his need to socialise gave rise to society, thus society is made of people. With the birth of society, certain principles and ideologies were born.
Even though society was born 2,000,000 billion years ago, differences in ideologies remain within different societies, however certain ideas and principles remain the same in different societies. The inferior position of women to men, i.e. women’s subordination is prevalent in every society, irrespective of the class they belong to. Women’s subordination alludes to the second-rate position of women, their need to get to assets and choice making. Subordination is a result of patriarchy.

Dr Lerner, the author of ‘Creation of patriarchy’, cites proof for the idea that patriarchy is a cultural invention, not a natural or inevitable phenomenon. Pieces of evidence, suggests that prehistoric hunter-gatherer societies were egalitarian. Patriarchal social structures failed to develop until the Pleistocene era. With the rise in social and developmental advancements, domestication took place, this gave rise to the downfall of the women’s status in the society.

The Oxford Dictionary states, patriarchy as, “a society, system or country that is ruled or controlled by men and giving power and importance only to men”. This patriarchal system comprises male-dominated hierarchy throughout the society. Patriarchy is the principal impediment to women’s development and advancements, regardless the levels of domination, the principles remain the same that is men are in control, despite the levels of domination and oppression that may differ.

The roots of patriarchy are embedded deep into the culture of any society. Some scholars believe the concept of fatherhood took root, at the beginning of the spread of patriarchy. Dr Lerner views that patriarchy was established and developed around 3100 to 600 B.C.

Ancient history showed pieces of evidence of patriarchal structures and ideologies. For instance, in his work, Politics, Aristotle saw women as subjects and objects to men, he believed that they are higher than slaves, but lack authority and that men are superior to women and the latter are properties of the former. He also, believed that the husbands are meant to rule, while the wives are meant to be ruled. Aristotle claimed that women are more apt to scold and to strike, more compassionate, more dependent, jealous than men.

Modern events that occur still prove to us that patriarchal ideologies prevail and continues to be an obstacle to women. A relevant example of patriarchy is the ‘Bois Locker Room’ chat conversations that degraded and objectified and shared the nudes of women without their consent. This gave rise to an uproar among many youngsters shunning the chats and calling for serious action against the members of the group. With a large majority calling for the arrest of these boys, and a minor portion supported the boys and their motives, by using the phrase, ‘boys will be boys’, and slut-shaming the girls.

Subordination of women still occurs despite the class or the society she belongs to. Some ways women are held subordinate in the family, at the place of work and the society are stated below:

• Families prefer male infants to the female ones, whenever a baby girl is born in the family, they are treated differently than the boys in the family. Sometimes, the pregnant lady is forced into an abortion, if the family members come to know that the child is the girl. Female infanticide and illegal abortion still go on in the country even though, there are laws.

• Women are pressured into doing more household works like cleaning and sweeping and taking care of the family members, while men are given opportunities to work and advance.

• Girls lack educational opportunities because their parents think education is primarily necessary for male children. In a patriarchal society, a woman from her childhood does not get an equal chance to develop her qualities, which makes her vulnerable and dependent on the male members of her family.

• Sexual harassment and molestation is another feature. Many women have faced sexual harassment either by the members of their family or people they know of or strangers. Sexual harassment is so common that women don’t even feel the need to report it, however, if they do, it turns into a, ‘He said, She said’ situation, wherein the people in power mostly support the male, and victim shame the women. The movement that encouraged women to speak up against their perpetrator, were told that they were fame chasers.

• Men control female bodies, and how they are supposed to dress and who are they supposed to talk to. Women have no control or access to fertility or reproductive rights. Domestic violence is another example.

• In most cases, women don’t even choose their life partners; rather the male members of their families that choose their spouse for them.

• Honour killing is another patriarchal feature. Women killed by their male family members if seen interacting with members of the other caste or marrying a guy their family didn’t choose for them.

• Women earn a far lower wage than their men counterparts doing the same work. In India, men and women do not earn an equal wage in agriculture, mining and trade. In America, female football players are paid less than their male counterparts, even after they won the women’s world cup; after standing up and bringing the issue to light, they were ridiculed by saying their level of the game, wasn’t that intense in comparison to their male counterparts. Women in all countries face the same issue of not getting equal pay even after putting in more efforts than their counterparts.

Today, media and entertainment institutes spread patriarchal ideologies by portraying women to be the submissive and dependent type, while men are portrayed as the alpha male and more dominant type. Media and entertainment industries reduce women to bodies and objectify them, thus giving rise to an increase in various acts of violence and sexual assault women.

Movies to play an important role in spreading the ideology of women’s subordination, this gives rise to increase incidents of molestation and rape in urban centres. The film Kabir Singh despite having scenes of domestic violence against the women turned out to be a great blockbuster. The filmmaker of the movie justified the movie and the scenes by saying, “Being in love with someone means having the freedom to assault each other”. This movie gave people or men the excuse of justifying domestic violence as their love for their partner.

As it can be seen, without a doubt that women still witness subordination in various parts of the world, despite the class of society they belong to. However, nowadays women face more freedom than what they did before, as of today, they can go out and set their mark in various fields, divorce their husbands, and also gain access to reproductive rights and use contraceptives to some extent. It is obvious that there have been many important changes in state policy over the last 150 years but these also include some very significant limitations.

Thus, the state is still patriarchal and continues to contribute to the subordination of women.
