Happy, hear to a music . Sad ,listen to a music. Function, music aloud. Condolence . Alone , earphones on. Travel , music must. It does not matter about the language . Its just the same. Music has no language. It is difficult to describe the feel. It can only be felt. It is one of the cultural aspects of all human societies. 

Music has many different fundamentals or elements. Depending on the definition of “element” being used, these can include: pitch, beat or pulse, tempo, rhythm, melody, harmony, texture, style, allocation of voices, timbre or color, dynamics, expression, articulation, form and structure. The elements of music feature prominently in the music curriculums of Australia, UK and US. All three curriculums identify pitch, dynamics, timbre and texture as elements, but the other identified elements of music are far from universally agreed upon.

Music genre is a conventional category that identifies some pieces of music as belonging to a shared tradition or set of conventions. It is to be distinguished from musical form and musical style, although in practice these terms are sometimes used interchangeably.

Music theory encompasses the nature and mechanics of music. It often involves identifying patterns that govern composers’ techniques and examining the language and notation of music. In a grand sense, music theory distills and analyzes the parameters or elements of music – rhythm and texture. Broadly, music theory may include any statement, belief, or conception of or about music. People who study these properties are known as music theorists, and they typically work as professors in colleges, universities, and music conservatories.

Muniba Mazari Baloch – the Iron Lady of Pakistan . She is famously known as the Pakistani activist and also an famous anchor artist, model, singer and motivational speaker. She was born 3 March 1987. She became the National Ambassador for Un Women Pakistan soon after being shortlisted for the 100 inspirational women of 2015 by BBC. She was also a one who made it into Forbes 30 under 30 list for 2016. “I am a strong supporter of UN Women and the role we have in ending gender-based discrimination, and working towards gender equality, making it a lived reality. We need to educate both men and women if we want to eliminate gender-based discrimination, and for this we have to work together as one,” was Ms. Mazari’s word during the event.

When she was 21 years old, Ms. Mazari was left bound to a wheelchair due to a spinal cord injury following a car accident. In order to distract herself while laying in a hospital bed with a broken body, half-paralyzed and barely able to move her hands, Ms. Mazari began to paint. She said that it was painting that kept her alive. She considers her pain “beautiful” since it allows her to connect with others also in pain , despite the immense pain she has endured because of the accident . Ms. Mazari’s life-changing experience has turned her into an activist, encouraging women and girls that have experienced discrimination or violence to not fear or fight the pain.  

Ms. Mazari also supports the well-being of under-privileged children and their education. She has spoken out across Pakistan on important issues including gender inequalities and discrimination. Her speech contained a message of hope, urging people not to give up on life. Her appeal transcends to different generations and represents the voice of women, men, girls and boys across Pakistan on important issues of gender inequality and discrimination.

PART – II

The desire  and  contemptment for entertainment  is unlimited . Knowing this and with  the overview on Disney land services he came up with the idea of establishing the Disney Land. It was as expected a great success  attracting tourists from around the world. With further expansion in it , it had the Americas first monorail system.  It is a fact that the making of an animated movie takes a longer period of time than a normal movie. In Spite of the fact, the Disney studio continued to be busy with the release of about 5 to 6 releases per year. During the period of 1950’s to 1960’s  the creation of popular animated features like Sleeping Beauty. 

The next set of revolution in his creations was the origin Xenography through which they converted the drawings into animated cells. The most successful animated musical adaptation was one of all time highest grossing movies and received 5 Academic Awards. Unfortunately as a result of chain smoking Walt Disney died due to the complications of Lung Cancer. Following Walt’s death Roy O Disney took over as the  chairman, CEO, and president of the company. 

Walt Disney was remarkably a great person , who as a film producer,  holds the record for most Academy Awards  earned by an individual, having won 22 Oscars from 59 nominations. The last two films Walt actively supervised were released, the animated feature The Jungle Book and  the musical’ The Happy Millionaire’.’ Buoyed by the success of Who Framed Roger Rabbit in 1988, Disney’s flagship animation studio enjoyed a series of commercial and critical successes known as the Disney’s Renaissance ,with such films  as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King. 

Even after the demise  of Disney the company still flourished with its new ideas . They  released their first film using 3D animation ,Chicken Little in 2005. During the course of time ,Director Roy E. Disney departed  his soul from the earth.  Have you watched the Watched the Avengers :End game? It is the second top highest grossing film till date. And Disney has the pride of taking its distribution to the world.  In 2009, Disney announced a deal to acquire Marvel Entertainment for about  $4.24 billion.

Let us now talk about the present. It is none other than the pandemic time. The Disney parks are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Disney has  experienced a 63 percent drop in earnings for the fiscal second quarter of 2020, resulting in a loss of $1.4 billion for the company. Yet let us hope for the best!  It is not an ordinary industry to be worn out by such losses. It has already thrived through many difficult times and will come out of this distress too.

PART 1

                                                           

Welcoming you all to the discussion forum of  the Mile cast presented to you by the Entrepreneurship development cell of Coimbatore institute of technology. Apart from different industrial revolutions there are certain creations that stand in the hearts of the people forever. Have you wondered what that is? Yes!  One such creation is the  Comic World. Who else in the comic world does not like MickyMouse and who have not grown up without hearing the stories of Cinderella. There lies a man behind this marvelous creation. It is none other than Walt Disney. In this let us know about this man and his masterpiece establishment ‘The Walt Disney Company’ .

He has grown from a small boy who was interested in drawings and pursuing an illustrator career to a man who has raised his standards to a co-founder of the leading media company. The establishment of this company was started in the later period of 1923. The path to success is not a bed of roses. Yup! This establishment was made after facing a bankruptcy due to  the  failure of his early firm. All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.-  was his motto which made him proceed. His creations started with Alice in Wonderland , which was purchased by the Winkler Productions.

He faced many ups and lifts, during which he started creating his new creation MickyMouse inorder to recover from his previous creation ‘Oswald the Lucky Rabbit’. The film Steamboat Wille with starrer MickyMouse was an immediate smash hit. This was the first Sound film by Disney which he achieved with the feature of Synchronising sound system. Due you know something, it is not  only because of the fondness towards the character that made his project successful. It is because of the features and technology that he introduces that makes his work different from others. 

Soon after this release in the same year ‘The Walt  Disney ‘ was reorganized to a corporation as ‘The Walt Disney Production’ and thus earned a name and became known to everyone.  And in the  earlier period the whole shares were withheld within the Disney family. Disney and his wife  held about 60% of the shares and his brother Roy  owned the rest of the shares. Introducing a different feature that makes it more appealing to the audience in each creation is the specialty of this production and thus establishing it as a powerful media company. 

You can very well know that he is a man of patience , perseverance and innovation.  Which was made sure when he began his first feature lengthened  film ‘ Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs’ in the year of 1934 . It premiered 3 years later in 1937. Undoubtedly it was a box office hit and became the highest grossing film of the time. His studio continued with the release of successful  hits like Pinocchio , Fantasia and Dumbo  . Later the profits of the company declined  during World War II due to the drafting of the animators into the armed forces.

During this time the Government commissioned the studio to make films that support the war effort. It is during this time the famous character Donald Duck . Further the release of Cinderella in 1950 and Alice in Wonderland in and Peter pan in the consecutive years was a success. His mastermind came up with the new idea of creating his first all -live action feature film ‘Treasure Island’. The company  has grown to the height of establishing its own distribution. He always  thought  that it’s a  kind of fun to do impossible things. Walt Disney and  Coca Cola teamed up for the first Disney’s venture into television.

Colosseum is a giant amphitheater . It is also called as the Flavian Amphitheatre . It is built in Rome under the Flavian emperors. Its construction began during the 70^th Common Era. It was opened by the son of Vespasian , Titus . It had 100 days of game which included bull’s fight and other wild animals fight. It also had the Gladiator fights were  the Gladiators were generally slaves, condemned criminals or prisoners of war. Aside from the games, the Colosseum also hosted dramas, reenactments, and even public executions.

The Colosseum is a massive structure of stone and concrete . Marble seats were divided into zones: those for richer private citizens, middle-class citizens, slaves and foreigners and finally wooden seats and standing room in the flat-roofed colonnade on the top tier reserved for women and the poor . It is build using a complex system of barrel vaults. It has a seating capacity of about 50000 spectators in which it had 45,000 seated and 5,000 standing spectators. The final stages of construction of the Colosseum were completed under the reign of Titus’ brother and successor, Domitian.

The spectators were shielded from the sun by a massive retractable velarium (awning). Also a well know fact says that the Colosseum served as a church during the medieval times and a prominent fortress for the families of Frangipane and Annibaldi. The Colosseum was damaged by lightning and very badly affected by the earthquake. The play of Vandalism and pollution also played a major role in its damages.

It lost its decorative materials and all marble seats. After understanding the damages , the notable efforts of Pius VIII a restoration project was started in the starting of 1990’s . It is defiantly a major tourist attraction place with an average of about seven million visitors annually. Its construction is made as of it consists of four stories with a height of 45 meters high ,a width of 189 x 156 meters , a roofed awning of canvas . Despite its degradation, a still magnificent monument, a poignant and enduring testimony to both the skills and the vices of the Roman world.

Speaking about favorite toys Teddy bear always catches a special position in the hearts of the children. It was simultaneously developed by the toymakers Morris Michtom in U.S and Richard Steiff in Germany . It was named after the United States President Theodore Teddy Roosevelt, though he disliked it . It is always regarded as a token of love , affection, sympathy or as an congratulation.

Glimpses of the Past

The name was originated after a bear hunting trip in Mississippi who was invited there by the Mississippi Governor. Amidst a lot of hunting competition one of the Roosevelt’s attendant managed to catch a American Black bear. They called Roosevelt to the site and suggested that he should shoot it. He felt it to be unfair and refused to shoot it . He also asked one of his men to shot it in order to relieve it from misery. It became the political cartoon that was published in the Washington Post on November 1902. This cartoon became the inspiration to the toymakers to make a small stuffed teddy bear . It was kept as a showpiece in the window of the shop and one was sent to the President Roosevelt and received permission to use his name.

New Form

As expected the Teddy bear became a hit and very well reached the market. In most of the Japanese restaurants Teddy bear are seated as partners. Is this not something cute ? yes! if you are seated alone in the restaurant and don’t have a pair or companion to accompany you then the management itself places a Teddy Bear on the empty seat. In 90’s and even now Teddy Bears form has changed according to ones taste , favorite color and size but the preference and the fondness for it has not changed among people .

Loong

There are a lots of myths that are persisting between different people in different parts of the world. Once such mythology is the Chinese dragon. This dragon is also known as Loong , Long or Lung. It is regarded as the legendary creature. It takes many animal forms like turtles and fish. It is mostly depicted as a snake with four legs. They symbolize auspicious powers which can stretch its power over nature like water ,rainfall, typhoons, and floods. It symbolizes the power, strength. It also symbolizes good luck for people who are worthy of it to have. The Emperor of china used this dragon to show his imperial strength and power. In Chinese culture, excellent and outstanding people are compared to a dragon, while incapable people with no achievements are compared to other, some small creatures, such as a worm.

Pixiu

It is usually depicted as a winged lion. It is said to be one of the nine children of the Loong . It is regarded as one of the auspicious creatures of Chinese mythology . It is stated that Pixiu stood in front of the gates as a guardian angel. Even in these centuries it is seen in the form of small jade pendants or worn as jewelry for good luck and money luck. It is also stated that it was a ferocious beast during the oldest Chinese period. It is metaphor for powerful army.

Jingwei

Jingwei was the youngest daughter of the Yan Emperor. She was a lively and rebellious girl . She was also a adventure type girl who swam into the Eastern Sea to see the sunrise. But unfortunately she drowned into the sea because of a storm. It is said that she got converted into a crow like bird. In order to avenge her death she flew as a bird every day to the Western Mountains .She carried pebbles and twigs along with her and dropped them into the Eastern sea . It is said that even the even the sea mocked at her for such a point less effort. But she swore to continue the effort of filling out the sea even if takes million and million of years. She is always remembered in the Chinese tale and stands as a example for perseverance .

Incredible India is the name of an international marketing campaign initiated by the Government of India to promote tourism in India in 2002 . The main aim of the campaign is to project India as a attractive tourist spot. The way used to launch this is to attract the tourists by making them known to the different aspects of Indian culture and history which makes India a special and unique one.

The rich cultural diversity of the country is the reason for the name “The Incredible India” . The different languages , festivals, culture, tradition and people in it make it prove that the name is perfectly a match for it. The ministry of India is credited with the coinage of the name “The Incredible India” in the year of 2002. In the year of 1972, Sunil Dutt started the campaign as an effort to promote the tourism in India . Before 2002 there was just normal efforts but after this effort the tourism of India was aimed to be made a professional one .Amitabh Bachchan has been appointed as the ambassador for ‘Incredible India‘. India is a unique land of vibrant colours, breathtaking landscapes and rich history.

India has one of the oldest civilizations in the World. It is a place of multicultural experience and rich heritage. These attributes and continuous effort from tourism department made the country one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. It extends its hands of beauty from the snow-covered Himalayan heights to the tropical rain forests of the south. It is the 7th largest country in the world. With its mountainous ranges it occupies a distinct geographical entity. It tapers off into the Indian Ocean at its end , Bay of Bengal on its east and the Arabian Sea on the west .

Not all people born on the Earth are perfectly normal. Though many of them are born without any disabilities some people are exceptions to it. Yet such people do not give upon their lives. There are many people who have succeeded to a great height , than a normal born person. Among various disabilities Dyslexia is one among them.

Whoopi Goldberg is an American actor, author, comedian, and television personality. Even before she came to about that she had this disability the kids in her school tagged her as a dumb one. As all mothers her mother also had hope on her and encouraged her. She made sure that her daughter should never hear to such comments .Her mom told her she could be anything she wanted to be. Goldberg believed her and grew up to become a comedian and talk-show host  and one of only about a dozen people to have won a Grammy, an Academy Award, an Emmy, and a Tony Award.

Keira Knightley was diagnosed with dyslexia when she was 6. But she never let that overtake her. She used her love of acting to help motivate her. The Pirates of the Caribbean star made good on her half of the bargain, using movie scripts to practice reading. She went on to become one of Hollywood’s highest-earning actresses.

Tom Cruise is one of the most famous action heroes of modern times suffered from severe dyslexia. This disability never stopped Tom Cruise from doing stunts which can make any normal person faint in a matter of seconds. He once said, “Nothing ends nicely, that’s why it ends. This persistence explains why he has reached such heights.

 Walt Disney ,from his childhood was a victim of dyslexia from his childhood and had difficulties in reading due to his learning disorder. Disney’s upbeat attitude can be clearly seen in his quote “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible”. And then he became an American entrepreneur, animator, writer, voice actor, and film producer. He is a pioneer of the American animation industry.

George Washington- if a person who suffered from dyslexia throughout his life can become the first president of the United States, then no PwD should ever be criticized or deprived of any opportunity as greatness lies within the soul. George Washington once said, “99% of failures come from people who make excuses.”

Albert Einstein -The Father of Theory of Relativity was one of the most famous people with disabilities. He faced difficulty in learning and was not unable to speak until he was 3 years old. He faced major issues in doing the basic maths in school. Expressing himself by writing was also a mammoth task for him. One of his famous quotes was “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

The first cartoon was created by Emile Cohl, a French artist in the year of 1908. It was released by the Gaumont company in Paris . This is considered to be the worlds first animated cartoon. The name of the cartoon was ‘Fantasmagorie’. It means  “a constantly shifting complex succession of things seen or imagined.” It was released on August 17 , 1908. Thomas Nast a German-born American editorial cartoonist is considered to be the “Father of the American Cartoon“. Its popularity began with the sound cartoons in 1928 and gradually ended in the late 1960s , which was replaced by television animated cartoons, which were produced on a cheaper budget. Mickey Mouse is one of the all time fame and favorite cartoon of all. This cartoon first released in 1928 and even now, it’s still a major hit.

Comic books

These cartoons in the form of magazine release is referred to as Comic books. The Swiss schoolmaster Rodolphe Töpffer ,a Swiss school master(1799–1846) is credited with the publishing of Comic first. Most of them agree that it started booming with the launch of Superman in the year of 1938. The term ‘Silver Age‘ refers to a general time period in which the comic books were originally available.

The Carnival of Venice

This Carnival of Venice is described as one of the best carnivals in the world. It is centered around the Piazza San Marco. The events are held in every towns and cities of Venice. This event also contains boat parades along with the Grand Canal. Its main specialty is about their elaborate masks and a mask parade is done in the Piazza San Marco. It comprises of a special Carnival for Children in the Cannaregio district of Venice. It is kind of annual festival held every year in the city of Venice.

It is held for a period of two weeks . It ends just the day before the Ash Wednesday which is very commonly said as the shrove Thursday. During this carnival a number of freebies are available for the tourists. Like the free show , special video projections and free guided museum tours , there’s a lot of free things that happens during the Carnival which makes us to add this carnival as a must attending one on our bucket list. The tradition of the mask started long back to the 13th century .

According to the pages of history, The Carnival of Venice started when the venetians military, of the Venetian Republic won against the Patriarch of Aquileia in the year of 1162. On that time people started celebrating the the victory by dancing . This festival be became an official on during the period of Renaissance. During the 17^th century it became the prestigious way to save the image of the Venice in the world. This carnival reached its peak fame during the 18^th century.
