Organic Farming

Organic farming is in a nascent stage in India.About 2.78 million hectare of farmland was under organic cultivation. Organic farming is a production system which avoids or largely excludes the use of synthetically compounded fertilizers, pesticides, growth regulators, genetically modified organisms and livestock food additives. To the maximum extent possible organic farming system rely upon crop rotations, use of crop residues, animal manures, legumes, green manures, off farm organic wastes, biofertilizers, mechanical cultivation, mineral bearing rocks and aspects of biological control to maintain soil productivity and tilth to supply plant nutrients and to control insect, weeds and other pests.

Organic methods can increase farm productivity, repair decades of environmental damage and knit small farm families into more sustainable distribution networks leading to improved food security if they organize themselves in production, certification and marketing. During last few years an increasing number of farmers have shown lack of interest in farming and the people who used to cultivate are migrating to other areas. Organic farming is one way to promote either self-sufficiency or food security. Use of massive inputs of chemical fertilizers and toxic pesticides poisons the land and water heavily. The after-effects of this are severe environmental consequences, including loss of topsoil, decrease in soil fertility, surface and ground water contamination and loss of genetic diversity.

Organic farming which is a holistic production management system that promotes and enhances agro-ecosystem health, including biodiversity, biological cycles, and soil biological activity is hence important. Many studies have shown that organic farming methods can produce even higher yields than conventional methods. Significant difference in soil health indicators such as nitrogen mineralization potential and microbial abundance and diversity, which were higher in the organic farms can also be seen. The increased soil health in organic farms also resulted in considerably lower insect and disease incidence. The emphasis on small-scale integrated farming systems has the potential to revitalize rural areas and their economies.

Advantages

  • Organic farming is environment friendly as there is no usage of chemicals.
  • Organic food is more nutritional, healthier and tastes better.
  • Organic farming reduces pollution.
  • Farmers will have a healthy working environment.
  • The demand of organic food is growing faster than supply and thus we can get a good return on investment.

Disadvantages

  • Organic food is more expensive. The production is less compared to inorganic farming.
  • Production costs are higher because farmers need more workers.
  • Organic farming cannot produce enough food that the world’s population needs to survive.
  • Lack of marketing for organic farming.
  • Organic food generally spoil faster.

Boy with Bright Yellow Tongue

A 12 year old boy with a bright yellow tongue was diagnosed with a serious and rare autoimmune disorder which led to his immune system attacking and destroying its own red blood cells.

According to a report published in the New England Journal of Medicine, the boy went to the hospital after he experienced a sore throat, dark urine, abdominal pain and pale skin for several days.

The boy was diagnosed with cold agglutinin disease,a rare autoimmune disorder in which a person’s immune system attacks and destroys its own red blood cells. While this condition is triggered by cold temperature, doctors suspect the boy contracted the disease due to an infection from EpsteinBarr virus.

Amazing Rain

Dubai created fake rain by using Drone as temperature crossed 50 degrees. The city is employing drone technology that shocks clouds into producing rain, this rain making technology known as Cloud Seeding.

To beat the heat, the United Arab Emirates’s(UAE) National Center of Meteorology came up with a solution that resulted in monsoon-like rainfall in the desert country. The enhanced rain is creates using drone technology known as cloud seeding, according to reports.

This technology, used to enhance precipitation, generates electrical charges prompting clouds to coalesce and produce water. Each year, the average precipitation in the country measures just 100 mm.

As per experts, the technology aims to create rain more efficiently within clouds and in the process, it triggers more water to come down. They suggest cloud seeding methods can help in alleviating the water problem.

Shanghai Maglev Train

The Shanghai maglev train also known as Shanghai Transrapid, has a top speed of 430 km/h.Train use electromagnetic force so there is no contact between track and body. With maglev technology, the train travels along a guideway of magnets which control the train’s stability and speed. While the propulsion and levitation require no moving parts, the bogies can move in relation to the main body of the vehicle and some technologies require support by retractable wheels at speeds under 150 kph. This compares with electric multiple units that may have several dozen parts per bogie. Maglev trains can therefore in some cases be quieter and smoother than conventional trains and have the potential for much higher speeds.

Maglev vehicles have set several speed records, and maglev trains can accelerate and decelerate much faster than conventional trains; the only practical limitation is the safety and comfort of the passengers, although wind resistance at very high speeds can cause running costs that are four to five times that of conventional high-speed rail (such as the Tokaido Shinkansen). The power needed for levitation is typically not a large percentage of the overall energy consumption of a high-speed maglev system.Overcoming drag, which makes all land transport more energy intensive at higher speeds, takes the most energy. Vactrain technology has been proposed as a means to overcome this limitation. Maglev systems have been much more expensive to construct than conventional train systems, although the simpler construction of maglev vehicles makes them cheaper to manufacture and maintain.

Shanghai Maglev Train

Japan operates two independently developed maglev trains. One is HSST (and its descendant, the Linimo line) by Japan Airlines and the other, which is more well known, is SCMaglev by the Central Japan Railway Company.

The development of the latter started in 1969. Maglev trains on the Miyazaki test track regularly hit 517 km/h (321 mph) by 1979. After an accident which destroyed the train, a new design was selected. In Okazaki, Japan (1987), the SCMaglev was used for test rides at the Okazaki exhibition. Tests in Miyazaki continued throughout the 1980s, before transferring to a far longer test track, 20 km (12 mi) long, in Yamanashi in 1997. The track has since been extended to almost 43 km (27 mi). The current 603 km/h (375 mph) world speed record for manned trains was set there in 2015.

Records

The highest-recorded maglev speed is 603 km/h (375 mph), achieved in Japan by JR Central’s L0 superconducting maglev on 21 April 2015, 28 km/h (17 mph) faster than the conventional TGV wheel-rail speed record. However, the operational and performance differences between these two very different technologies is far greater. The TGV record was achieved accelerating down a 72.4 km (45 mi) slight decline, requiring 13 minutes. It then took another 77.25 km (48 mi) for the TGV to stop, requiring a total distance of 149.65 km (93 mi) for the test. The MLX01 record, however, was achieved on the 18.4 km (11.4 mi) Yamanashi test track – 1/8 the distance. No maglev or wheel-rail commercial operation has actually been attempted at speeds over 500 km/h (310 mph).

Why petrol price increasing in India?

Main reason behind petrol price hike, the Union minister of petroleum and natural gas Dharmendra Pradhan explanis…”There has been a jump in crude oil prices in the international market. One of the main reasons behind the rise in fuel prices in india is that we have to import 80% of the oil we consume”.The bonds, he says, is what the current government has to repay along with its interest, leading to and increase in petrol rates.

He had earlier said that it is up to the GST(Goods and Service Tax) Council to decide whether the fuel should be brought under the Goods and Services Tax, which, many believe, would substantially bring down the prices.

Currently, the central and state taxes make up for 60% of the retail selling price of petrol and over 54% of diesel. Centre levies ₹32.90 per litre of excise duty on petrol and 31.80 a litre on diesel. In view of this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government is under increasing pressure to cut high taxes on fuel.

Demonetization

On november 8, 2016 the government of India announced the Demonetization of all Rs.500 and Rs.1000 banknotes of the Mahatma Gandhi series. It also announced that new Rs.500 and Rs.2000 banknotes in exchange for the demonetised banknotes.

Demonetization is the act of removing currency as legal tender.New forms of notes and coins are replaced by the old ones. The most crucial thing is that old notes and coins are banned.

Merits:

  • Corruption is reduced and dealing of black money stops.
  • Liability of the government is reduced by the introduction of demonetization.
  • One of the huge impact of demonetization is that in certain cases, it leads to tax avoidance

Demerits:

  • One of the major challenges faced by the introduction of demonetization is the connectivity of the internet due to digital transactions.
  • And there will be cash storage.
  • Few people don’t know about when this technique have started at the time of demonetization.

GURUKULAM

A Gurukula or Gurukulam ia a type of education system in ancient India with students and disciples living near or with the Guru. The word gurukula is a combination of the Sanskrit words Guru means ‘teacher’ and Kula means ‘family’ or ‘home’.The term is also used today to refer to residential monasteries or schools operated by modern gurus. The students are more disciplined and organized. They are taught to follow a well-planned schedule in school. The students are more focused and possess more concentration power than normal students. This is because they are trained through techniques such as meditation which enhances their focusing power.

Although technology and other facilities vary according to schools, government schools generally have fewer facilities than private schools. Government schools also have a greater number of students than private students; the number of students in a class may also be drastically high due to lack of facilities. However, it is important to notice that government schools always hire highly qualified teachers; teachers must meet all state-mandated requirements and be proficient in their subject to work in a government school.

Dreams are not enough. You need to act.

I spend lot of time on talking about how important your dreams are.But it’s also important to realize that dreams are not enough.Yes, I talk a lot about optimism, positivity and focusing on what in life rather than fearing what you don’t want.So with that in mind, I would like to share three compelling, and optimism including, reasons to start taking that all-important action towards dreams and goals, and they are

  1. Action activates knowledge:Knowledge is nothing until you use it.If that dream is ever going to go anywhere or mean anything, then you have to get that it out of your head and into the real world. And to do that, you must take action and start doing
  2. Action overrides fear:Fear is the common thing when it comes to our biggest dreams and goals.Often we are afraid because we can’t see the whole path before us, we don’t know exactly how we’re going to get from here to there, so we’re afraid to get started, because we don’t need to see the whole staircase, just take the first step in faith.
  3. Action inspires confidence:This is so important, because every time you take action towards your goal and as you start reaching your destination, it makes you more comfortable and more confident in your ability to handle anything that gets thrown at you.

Dreams are not enough to get you where you want to be in life, so when you find yourself slipping into non-action mode remind yourself of these three things.

“THE ART OF KINTSUGI”

Having a simple life without any miseries is quite impossible. No one can live the life with full of happiness. There comes the time when one should go through all the things, no matter who they are and what they are.

I am always interested to learn different arts and culture of various countries ,among them I am always interested in japanese arts .Not only their arts but also their traditions ,their cultures has valuable meanings in it . So I came across this concept of ‘Kintsugi’ when I watched the video of Priya Malik from a poetry show ,immediately I googled this word to learn more about Kintsugi and I amazed after finding the hidden meaning behind it .

The Art of Kintsugi means ‘Golden repair’ ,it is the japanese art form and it comes under pottery repair method. Emphasizing not hiding the break but be proud to show the broken pieces in a unique and beautiful piece .This art form was evolved in 15th century by Ashikaga Yoshimasa .When his favorite tea cup was broken ,he felt too bad and he wants to repair that at any cost ,so he sent that broken piece to china to joint that broken piece but they failed in repairing that and again they sent it to japan .Ashikaga was too stubborn and he doesn’t give up on his precious thing which is broken ,so he ordered the japanese people to repair it ,at last after doing a lot of research they came across with a proper solution which repaired the cup into beautiful piece.

Eventually ‘The Art of Kintsugi ‘ has transformed to ‘The Art of Healing’ in this modern era .Just comparing our lives as broken piece ,we often broken our relationships at certain times due to some circumstances ,at that time we feel to heal ourselves .So this whole process of transforming the broken piece to beautiful piece gives the proper solutions to our broken heart .Giving a meaning that #brokenbutbeautiful .

Dont feel depressed ,anxious or sad when some tragedy happens to our lives .Time heals everything ,it has its own power .Just like a broken piece taken its own time to change into beautiful one.
