Pride of Mumbai

Taj Mahal Palace Hotel is the pride of Mumbai. Mumbaikars and other people around the globe dream of spending a night in this marvelous hotel. The hotel is built in the Saracenic Revival style, situated next to the Gateway of India.

But unfortunately, we saw the hotel burning and getting damaged on 26 November 2008 by a bunch of terrorists. These terrorists attacked five locations in Mumbai, one of which was The Taj Hotel. Two of the terrorists entered from the front door and started throwing explosives and shooting. The attackers brutally killed the guests as well as the staff members of the hotel. It is said that 31 people were killed at the hotel, out of which 17 were staff members. Hemant Oberoi, the head chef, and the other staff helped a lot of guests and kept them safe. He stayed calm throughout the situation and acted bravely. More than 150 guests were rescued from the hotel on 27th November.

The hotel was rebuilt within a month after the attack. The heritage wing of the hotel was severely damaged therefore, it was opened in phases. It took around $38 million to reconstruct the hotel. The hotel is solid to such an extent that no man on this planet could stop it and that’s the reason it is known as the pride of Mumbai.

Green Lives Matter

We always get a positive vibe when we see plants around us. Growing plants on the balcony is a dream for many of us. We all love growing plants in our house, balcony, office, etc but very few of us know how to take care of it. It is very essential to give them proper time and care. Like humans even they need proper nutrition to go. Sunlight, water, soil, proper temperature are essential for them to live. Lack of nutrition may result in withering, yellowing of the leaves, stunted growth, etc.
To avoid these conditions in our plants one must provide them nutrition.

Things to keep in mind while growing a plant in your surrounding.

 • Research about the plant
Before growing a plant, one should study the plant and its needs. The need for sunlight, water, etc may differ from plant to plant. Provide them everything accordingly.

 •  Proper size of the pot
The size of the pot matters a lot in the growth of plants. Plants need an area to grow. Make sure the roots are not crowded and have proper space to spread and grow.

 • Perfect amount of sunlight
Sunlight is very essential for them to grow but all plants don’t need a lot of sunlight. The need for sunlight differs from plant to plant. For example, a snake plant can grow with very little sunlight whereas, a marigold plant needs a lot of sunlight.

• Providing water from time to time
The right amount of water should be provided to plants. Don’t water them a little or don’t water them too much. Study the need for water according to the plant you’re growing.

These are some most basic things to keep in mind before you grow any plant. Plants have life to and it is our responsibility to keep them healthy because we need them more than they need us.

It is difficult to sacrifice our lives at such a stage where our lives have just begun. But not in the case of Bhagat Singh. Bhagat Singh didn’t even think once before sacrificing his life.

He left his house for Kanpur at a very young age when his parents tried to get him married. He didn’t want to get married in slave India. After leaving the house, he joined Hindustan Socialist Republican Association. He planned to kill Superintendent of Police James Scott but instead, he killed John Saunders, Assistant Superintendent of Police, and he had to flee Lahore to escape the death penalty.

In 1929, Bhagat Singh and his associate bombed the Central Legislative Assembly in Delhi to protest the implementation of Public Safety Bills. He surrendered himself to promote their cause.
After the arrest, he went on a hunger strike in prison, and on 23 March 1931, he was hung to death.

His death inspired the youth of the nation to fight for the nation’s freedom. He became more popular after his death amongst Indians. The whole country faced mixed emotions on his death and Indians were filled with courage. It is also said that his photograph was on same in every city of the country. His work hard reached every corner of the nation. He is truly a hero who still resides in the heart of every Indian.

Feed them Pawfectly!

What if I offer you crores and crores of money and ask you to stay away from food for days in return? Will you do it? Can you survive without eating? I’m guessing it’s a NO!
Food is one of our necessities. Here ‘our’ not only includes humans but also animals. For animals food (including water) is their only requirement to survive but unfortunately, they don’t even get that.
You’ll have seen dogs, cats, cows, and various other animals come behind us while we walk on the street. They don’t walk behind you to harass you they come to you with hope in their eye. They just need food and a little love rather than getting hit by a stick. Being cruel to them won’t make you superior instead having empathy towards them and treating them like humans will.

Every mother loves to feed their children and would cook many dishes for them but don’t forget those mothers who search for food in a heap of garbage every day just to survive.
Do they deserve this? Of course not!
Nobody deserves this! Then why do they have to do this for their survival?

God has not given them a voice to speak but their eyes are enough to convey their sorrow.
Just feed an animal and see what they do for you in return. Trust me! you’ll be God in their eyes

Things to keep in mind before feeding a stray animal
 • Avoid sweets
Sweets take a lot of time to digest and can result in various health issues in them and can also affect their immunity.

 • Avoid fried and spicy food
Animals might not find fried and spicy food attractive. Avoid feeding them leftovers. Fried and spicy food can lead to many health problems

 • Avoid allergic food
Animals can be allergic to some food items just like humans. Always research before feeding.

 • Do not Overfeed
Every animal has their capacities to eat. Do not force them to eat more, it might make them ill.

 • Avoid plastic bags
Never give them food in plastic bags. They might stick their head inside it and cause breathing problems. Try using plastic bowls.

 • Serve them water
Water is as important as food for them. They can find their water but it’s best to serve them which will make their job much easier.

Failure Life’s Biggest Lesson

Failure a seven-letter word that has travel seven continents of the world. Failure comes across in every person’s life. In life failure is inevitable and everybody should taste failure because it teaches you the importance of everything that made you fail. Like for if you had invested money in some stock market and it failed then it teaches you the value of money, the same goes when you failed to pass an exam it teaches you the importance of time when you fail in your relationship it teaches you the value of the person you were with and the list can go on and on because failure can come even when a baby falls when he tries to stand for the first time to a startup by a young entrepreneur which fails and everyone in life has a different meaning of failure/ has a different meaning of failure in life and no one can tell you what’s failure to you and them because it’s different for everybody.

A person who has never failed in life is a real failure. Everyone thinks heroes are those who win but I feel heroes are those who have lost because they only know the real value of the win. This goes the same in the life one cannot get successful without getting failure. Failure is a part of success and also leads you to success.

Failing in anything makes you a loser in the eyes of the world. Society judges you only on your outcome. It’s like the stigma that one cannot fail in something but that’s not true everyone fails in any of the ways in life at a certain point. Rather than getting failure in something people are more concerned about what if I failed and what would people say about it and this makes you the real failure.
Rather than demotivating or making fun of someone’s failure, we should help them to overcome it.

On the other hand, telling someone to never give up is terrible advice. Successful people give up all the time. If something is not working, smart people don’t repeat it endlessly. They revise. They adjust. They pivot. They quit. As the saying goes, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Success vs failure is only decided when you lose the persistence and determination to keep trying. Circumstances can only specify the amount of time and effort which it will take to achieve your goal and perhaps there are some goals you will never achieve in your life but your attempts and experience you got from it will help you in living your life.

Failure teaches you to be ready for similar situations that come in the future making you better than before. It makes you learn through the experience of a situation so that you will not fail the next time when you are in a similar situation. Failure makes you a wise person. It helps you to make wise and careful decisions about important aspects of your life so that you will not commit the same mistake twice.

So, failure is not just about not working hard or not giving your 100% percent, or not putting in the extra effort. You should also realize that it is about the decisions you take and the choices you make. It is about the responsibilities and the things you believe in.

To try and to fail is a part of success.

The Gentleman’s Game

Cricket one of the most widely played sports in the world. A game that has millions of fans. A sport which has not to remain just a sport but a life for many/ but which has become a life of many.

Move passion, move people, move a lot of money, move to television. But to understand this you have to look a little in history, know its origin and evolution now. Cricket was invented in the vast fields of England, supposedly by shepherds who herded their flock. Later on, this game was shown kindness by aristocrats, and now has the stature of being England’s national game. After a century now, cricket stands in the international arena, with a place of its own.

THE GAME

Cricket involves two teams with 11 players on each side. The captain who wins the toss decides whether his team bats or bowls first. If they bat first, they aim to score a lot of runs and make sure the other team does not reach that score.

FORMATS OF THE GAME

Cricket is played in many formats, but the most popular are TEST CRICKET and ONE DAY cricket. In TEST cricket game goes on for 5 days, with each team batting twice – if time permits.

ONE DAY is the most popular format, with each team getting 50 overs to score runs. And the other team tries to outscore them within the same number of overs.

T-Twenty format which consists of 20 overs per team to play is now one of the shortest formats in international cricket and one of the most emerging formats in the current era.

The Cricket world cup is the biggest international event of cricket. The winner of the cup shows who are champions of the game. Australia has 5 World Cup titles in their name the most by any country.

Women’s cricket also emerged a lot in recent years. But it still doesn’t get the same amount of support and viewership from the fans. Seeing the current support from them one day it will get the same amount that today the men’s team get.

Cricket has produced many legendary players all over this time. The first one was Sir Don Bradman with an average 0f 99.97, then comes the god of cricket Sachin Tendulkar, MR Cricket Mike Hussey, and King Virat Kohli, and successful captains like M.S Dhoni, Ricky Ponting and many more.

Through His Eyes

After an interview with a group of rapists, some interesting facts came out about how these rapists “choose” their victims.

 • The first thing they always notice in their victim is the “hairstyle”. They probably go after the women whose hair is tied in a ponytail, braid, or bun. Since these hairdos will make it easy for them to grab.
They usually go behind women who have long hair.

 • The second thing they look at is the clothing style. They’ll follow women whose apparel will be simple for them to remove.
It is also seen that they usually carry scissors around to cut clothing.

 • They focus on those ladies who are occupied on a call or searching for something through their purse because such women can be easily overpowered during such situations as they are distracted.

• They are bound to attack in the early
mornings between 5:00 am to 8:30 am as there wouldn’t be anyone to help around.

 • They also mentioned the place where they can easily attack their victims. Parking lots, garages, restrooms are most common among them.

 • These rapists don’t for the most part carry a weapon with them because rape carries a 3-5 years sentence whereas, rape with a weapon carries a 15-20 years sentence.

 • They mentioned that they don’t go after women who carry umbrellas or any other comparable object as it can be utilised from distance.

These are some common things found through the interview which will always help you to stay aware.

How to be aware or save yourself?

 • Always carry a pepper spray with you
 • Pinch the assailant in some sensitive parts very hard such as under the arms, inner thighs.
 • After this, always go for the groin!
It’ll be extremely painful for them.
 • You can also grab his fingers and twist them as much as you can.
 • Always be aware of your surroundings especially when you notice some odd behavior.

An Art of Hope

Do you get annoyed when somebody doesn’t respond to your calls? or Do you feel frustrated when you are unable to finish a task? These emotions are faced within you when you lack patience.
Patience is when an individual can bring these emotions under control and it is also a skill or an ability to tolerate delay and act accordingly.

Impatience leads to anger issues, it also acts as an obstacle between you and your goals, it increases the chances of making wrong decisions and it may also lead to a negative attitude and constant complaining.

Whereas patience will help you to stay calm, it will increase the chances of making proper decisions and may create a positive attitude within you and a positive environment around you.

Patience is a skill which should be taught by parents to their children. A child should learn to wait even for the littlest craving. It will increase their ability to wait and would definitely help them to get closer to their goals and dreams in the future.

The importance of patience is also given in some holy books like Bible, Bhagavad Gita, and Quran.
It focuses on the ability to be calm with your loved ones as well as your foes.

How to foster patience?
There are various ways to develop patience.

 • Learn to wait
 • Take a long view before making any decisions
 • Stay calm even during difficult stages of life.
 • Smile even during facing challenges
 • Relax between tasks
 • Also be a patient listener

A child’s patience is tested when he doesn’t get his favourite toy , a man’s patience is tested when he doesn’t get his job promotion.Patience is tested of every person at every stage of life and one should know how to tackle it perseverance can bring patience to life.
Patience comes to us when we practice it in our daily lives. It is a virtue to be exercised with repeated efforts to create long-term goals and be successful. So, have patience!

Life Of Mercury

Close your eyes and envision yourself standing on the stage and singing in front of a countless crowd while they cheer for you. Indeed, you are a rockstar!
The first Indian Rockstar to experience this was Freddie Mercury, original name Farrokh Bulsara. It is said that he was given this name by his teachers and classmates. He was born to Parsi parents and spent the majority of his adolescence in India. He later moved with his family to England, where his music career began. He formed a band with Brian May and Rodger Taylor and named it Queen. Bassist John Deacon joined the following year. Initially, the band failed to draw much notice however, the album Sheer Heart Attack( 1974) and A Night At The Opera (1975) made them internationally famous. ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ is considered Queen’s most mysterious and beloved song.

When it comes to his personal life Mary Austin stole Mercury’s heart in 1969 and they became inseparable after that. He always mentioned Mary Austin whenever he talked about the only love of his life.

Paul Prenter played a significant role in his life too. He was his former manager and he double-crossed him by selling a story to a national newspaper about his personal life. He ruined his life by claiming that Freddie slept with hundreds of men and furthermore gave profound insights regarding his personal life which forced him to fire Paul. His last day on earth was 24th November 1991, he passed away due to bronchial pneumonia due to AIDS-related complications.

Without a doubt, he was a courageous, gallant, and defiant Rockstar in the history of music.
