Heart breaking gang rape in Delhi again- Victim dies

We all know how nirbhaya was gang raped in Delhi, the culprits were recently hanged. And now within no time the nirbhaya culprits were hanged, there is a gang rape again in Delhi. Manisha valmiki, the victim, 19 years old girl died on 29 September 2020.

The incident took place on September 14. she was working in a field along with her mother and brother, plucking grass. Her brother returned home with a bundle of grass while she remained in the field with her mother.

The mother and daughter were at some distance in the field. The mother realised after some time that the victim was missing. She went looking for her and found her in an unconscious state.There were four to five people who attacked her from behind, gagged her with her dupatta and dragged her to a bajra field where they gangraped her. The family believes the attack was planned; the same men had beaten up members of the family earlier.

The victim was earlier admitted to the JN Medical College and Hospital in Aligarh. The doctors at the hospital had termed her condition “critical”.

The victim had her tongue cut and She had three of her neck bones broken indicating an attempt to make her silent by the attackers. The family has said that they requested the police to shift her to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi as her condition was extremely critical. But the police shifted her to the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, the family complained. The family said the victim had difficulty in breathing due to broken bones and needed oxygen from the beginning. But the police responded to her health condition after a delay of four-five days, the family has alleged. Victim’s brother said “They had raped her. The police did not help us initially… they did not take quick action. They acted only after four-five days,” he said, accusing the police of reacting only after public outrage.

The police initially registered an attempted murder case but added rape charges only after the woman’s formal statement.

Police have denied the charge, saying they were pro-active in responding to the incident of crime. They cite the arrest of accused, namely Sandip Ramu, Lavkush and Ravi for the crime as evidence of their swift action.

The 19-year-old died in the hospital on 29th September 2020. Her family blamed the police inaction and lack of support.

The Bhim Army supporters blocked roads in Uttar Pradesh for hours. A local political outfit, Azad Samaj Party, held a demonstration in Aligarh alleging dilly-dallying on part of the administration in making the arrests and shifting the victim to a better healthcare facility in New Delhi. CM Adityanath’s predecessor and the SP president Akhilesh Yadav said the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh has become “insensitive” leaving no hope for the people. Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, the BSP chief, demanded that the case be heard by a fast track court. She also sought “all possible support” to the victim’s family.

Some hashtags in social media, some bundhs some RIP messages don’t do justice for the girl. The only way to make justice for the girl is hanging those culprits.

He is not only a reel hero but also a real hero, who started helping people reach their native places during pandemic, helping graduates get job who lost their job in pandemic. He arranged flights for some lakhs of Indians who are in foreign countries and couldn’t reach their homes due to lockdown. Starting from helping people reach their homes in pandemic, his heart started to provide scholarships for higher education pursuing students, in the name of “Prof. Saroj Scholarships”. The Mountain Men

Dashrath Manjhi, also known as Mountain Man,was a laborer in Gehlaur village, near Gaya in Bihar, India. He decided to carve a path of 110 m long (360 ft), 9.1 m (30 ft) wide and 7.7 m (25 ft) deep through a ridge of hills using only a hammer and chisel after his wife’s death due to an injury caused by falling from a mountain. He carved the path continuously for 22 years.After 22 years of work, Dashrath shortened travel between the Atri and Wazirganj blocks of Gaya  town from 55 km to 15 km.

Manjhi’s wife Falguni Devi was badly injured and died because she fell from the mountain and the nearest town with a doctor was 55 km away. As a result of this experience Manjhi resolved to cut a roadway across the ridge to make his village more accessible. Manjhi felt the need to do something for society and decided to carve a path through the ridge so that his village could have easier access to medical care.

Manjhi’s work has made life easier for people of the Gehlaur village. Manjhi said, “Though most villagers taunted me at first, there were quite a few who lent me support later by giving me food and helping me buy my tools.” For his efforts, Manjhi became popularly known as the ‘Mountain Man’. The Bihar government also proposed his name for the Padma Shree award in 2006 in the social service sector. A stamp featuring Dashrath Manjhi was released by India Post in the “Personalities of Bihar” series on 26 December 2016. Official roads between his village and Wazirganj and Atri and Gaya were only built where his path was after his death in 2007.

Dashrath Manjhi was died on 17 August 2007 due to gallbladder cancer. He was given a state funeral by the Government of Bihar.

In 2011, director Kumud Ranjan working for the state-owned Films Division of India produced a documentary based on Manjhi’s life titled The Man Who Moved the Mountain. In August 2015, a Hindi movie Manjhi – The Mountain Man was released and well received. The movie was directed by Ketan Mehta. Nawazuddin Siddiqui played the role of Manjhi along with Radhika Apte as Falguni Devi. The first episode of Season 2 of the Aamir Khan hosted TV Show Satyamev Jayate, aired in March 2014, was dedicated to Dashrath Manjjhi. Aamir Khan and Rajesh Ranjan also met Bhagirath Manjhi and Basanti Devi, son and daughter-in-law of Manjhi and promised to provide financial help. Manjhi’s story also had a minor role in a later Kannada film, 2011’s Olave Mandara directed by Jayatheertha.

Now, we have another mountain man and that too from same district of Bihar. Let us know about Laungi Bhuiyan.

Laungi Bhuiyan is a farmer from Kothilawa in Lahthua area of Gaya, Bihar, India. He carved a 3Km long canal by digging hills surrounding their village. These hills stop the water reaching their fields. So, he carved those hills and made a 3Km long canal that would bring the fields of their canals some water. He used to feed cattle in a jungle, and subsequently carved out a canal that reportedly took him thirty years to complete the work.

These two men also gave us the meaning of dedication and love toward to solve one’s problems. Salute to these men.

Shivangi Singh, The first Women Fighter Pilot to fly the Rafale

After the race for Women pilot in Indian Air Force, Shivangi Singh from Banaras was given chance to fly the Rafale. Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh will be Rafale aircraft’s first women pilot. Let us know some details about Shivangi Singh briefly.

Shivangi Singh was born on 15th March 1995 in Paroo, Muzaffarpur, Bihar. She was born to school teacher Hari Bhushan Singh and house wife Priyanka Singh. Here ancestors were agriculturals. She was inspired to become a pilot after seeing a politician using helicopter to attend political meetings. Jer father has now became Principal to the girls-only government school constructed on land donated by Shivangi’s great grandfather.

She completed her B. tech in Mechanical Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology and also completed her Master’s from Malaviya National Institute of Technology. Her Marrital status is not married.

Shivangi got admitted into the Indian Navy under the Short Service Commission (SSC)-Pilot entry scheme. In June 2018, she was commissioned into the Indian Navy. She had taken two successive six month courses; first the Naval Orientation Course at the Indian Naval Academy, and the second at Air Force Academy where she trained on the Pilatus PC 7 MkII aircraft. In the six months prior to December 2019, she learnt flying the Dornier aircraft at the Indian Naval Air Squadron 550. Shivangi became the first female pilot of the Indian Navy on 2 December 2019. She was ordered to fly the MiG-21 Bison. She subsequently became an operational pilot on Maritime Reconnaissance (MR) aircraft after completing her training, as of December 2019.

She will now fly the Dassault Rafale with the No. 17 Squadron IAF post completion of the Type conversion she is undergoing, making her the first Indian woman to fly the Rafale. She will formally join the 17 ‘Golden Arrows’ Squadron of the 4.5-generation Rafales at the Ambala airbase after she finishes her “conversion training”, which is required when a combat pilot switches from one fighter to another. She was among the second batch of women fighter pilots who were commissioned in 2017. IAF currently has 10 women fighter pilots, who have undergone the arduous training to fly supersonic jets. After joining IAF, she was orders to fly the MiG-21 Bison aircraft and was till recently serving at a fighter base in Rajasthan, the officials added on condition of anonymity. IAF’s current fleet of five Rafale fighters is fully operational and are ready to undertake any mission. IAF is operating its Rafale fighter jets in the Ladakh theatre where the military is on its highest state of alert, amid heightened border tensions with China.

The count of women in the military is now more than 4,000, but combat roles were off limits to them until IAF took the lead in crushing internal resistance to induct them into the fighter stream. Sub Lieutenants Kumudini Tyagi and Riti Singh have been selected for the helicopter stream.

India ordered 36 Rafale jets from France in a deal worth Rs 59,000 crore in September 2016. The air force formally inducted the planes at the Ambala air base on September 10 though they landed at their home base on July 29. The next batch of three to four Rafale jets is expected to reach Ambala from France in October followed by a third batch in December. All deliveries will be completed by the end of 2021.

Differences between Harry Potter Novels and Movies

J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series is so magical and would be impossible to present all the magics described in books on screen. Let us now see some major differences of Harry Potter novels and movies.

R. A. B

R. A. B already popped up in the films a very few times and they covered the very basics pertaining to his character which was necessary to move the story along. But there was a lot left out and it’s honestly one of the most interesting stories in the series. Regulus Arcturus black was Sirius’s younger brother. We learned that he became a Death Eater but then turned his back on the Dark Lord and unknown to anyone he was the first to discover Voldemort secret that he had made a Horcrux. Allthis was not added in the movies.

The first task

Having a tribe as a tournament on the big screen is a daunting task and for the most part, the movie did a great job. The first task however was not good as the filmmakers decided to add a bunch of stuff in the film that was never in the books.

Polyjuice potion

Polyjuice potion, the thing that allows you to turn into anyone is something that pops up a lot in the Harry Potter series. But, in the films it’s very inconsistent. The first time where we see polyjuice potion used I the books is we follow Harry drinks it and turns into Goyle and it clearly says when he speaks Goyle’s low rasp of a voice issued from his mouth. However, when adapting the scene to the second movie, the characters had their own voice despite the changing into someone else.

The Obstacles Guarding the Philosopher’s Stone

One of the best parts of the first film was seeing Harry, Ron and Hermione get through the obstacles to get the stone. Each had their moment to shine. In the films we saw almost all of the obstacles Haggard three-headed dog fluffy, sprouts double snare that wakes flying keys, McGonigle’s chess board and Dumbledore’s mirror of Erised. But in the books there were two more obstacles on the top of thosethose, they had to get passed a troll which was setup by Quirrell and they had to get passed a potion rental made by Snape making there be seven obstacles.

Bellatrix in the half-blood Prince

Helena Bonham Carter has simply put incredible as Bellatrix. She’s so out there and really brings the characters craziness to life. She’s probably one of the best parts of the later films. So, the film makers milked her character in the movies. She did have an appearance in the sixth book in the chapter called spinners end where she forces Snape to make the unbreakable vow which we of course saw in the movie. But, other than that, Bellatrix doesn’t appear in the rest of the book. But, there were scenes in the movie those were never there in the book.

Physical fights

There are magical duels and magical fights in almost all the films. But, the films were made much more kid-friendly leading them cut many fistfights out. In the first film, they had cut the fight between Ron, Neville and Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle in the stands of the Quidditch match. In the second film, they cut the fight between Arthur Weasley and Lucius Malfoy and flourish and Blatz. A fistfight was cut from the order of the Phoenix.

Dobby The House Elf

Dobby played a huge role in the books and appeared in the second, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh book. But in the films, he only appeared in the second and seventh movie. The films actually gave many of the Dobby’s part in the books to nephel. Most notably giving Harry the gillyweed so he could breathe underwater during the second task of the Triwizard tournament and showing Harry and the others the Room of Requirement for the DEA meetings. In the books he works in the Hogwarts kitchen after being freed from the mouth voice. He also had many more interactions with creature past the seventh book like when Harry sent both of them to spy on Malfoy to find out what he was doing during the half-blood prince and ultimately this lead to a fight between Dobby and the creature and because he was in most of the books, we also watched his relationship with Harry grow and gets stronger. But in movies, audiences hadn’t seen Dobby in eight years.

Ravenclaw’s Crest

In the books, the coat of arms of Ravenclaw is an eagle and the eagle was paired with blue and bronze. In the film, so after they changed the coat of arms to a Raven and they made their colours blue and silver rather than blue and bronze.

Implicit and explicit type conversion in C

Some of the primitive sata types in C are int, float, double, char etc. We know that int is a small data type and double is a large data type. We say this by comparing the range of the data types. The data type, it’s storage and range is given in following table.

Data typeStorageRange
char1 byte-128 to 127 or 0 to 255
unsigned char 1 byte0 to 255
signed char 1 byte-128 to 127
int2 or 4 bytes-32,768 to 32,767 or -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647
unsigned int 2 or 4 bytes 0 to 65,535 or 0 to 4,294,967,295
short2 bytes-32,768 to 32,767
unsigned short2 bytes0 to 65,535
long 8 bytes-9223372036854775808 to 9223372036854775807
unsigned long8 bytes0 to 18446744073709551615

Implicit Type Conversion

C permits mixing of constants and variables of different types in an expression. C automatically converts any intermediate values to a proper type so that the expressions can be evaluated without losing any significant. This automatic type Conversion is known as Implicit Type Conversion.

During evaluation, it binds to very strict rule of type conversion. If the operands are of different types then the lower type automatically gets converted into higher type before the operation proceeds. The result is of higher type.

Consider the following expression in C,

int x = 10;
char y = 'a';
x = x + y;
printf(“%d”, x) ;

Output: 107

Below is the sequence of rules that are applied while evaluating the expressions.

All short and char are automatically converted to int. Then,

  1. If one of the operands is long double, then the other will be converted i to long double and the result will be in Long double.
  2. Else, If ine of the operands is double, then the other will be converted into double and the result will be in double.
  3. Else, if one of the operands is float, then the other will be converted into float and the result will be in float.
  4. Else, if one of the operands is unsigned long int, then the other will be converted into unsigned long int and the result will be in unsigned long int.
  5. Else, if one of the operands is long int and the other is unsigned int, then 1. If unsigned int can be converted into long int, then unsigned int operand will be converted and the result will be in long int. 2. Else, both Operands will be converted into unsigned long int and the result will be unsigned long int.
  6. Else, if one of the operands is long int, the other will be converted into long int and the result will be in long int.
  7. Else, if one of the operands is unsigned int, the other will be converted into unsigned int and the result will be in unsigned int.

This automatic type conversion of lower data types into higher is called Implicit Type conversion. In implicit Type conversion there is no data loss occurs.

Explicit type conversion

The final result of an expression is converted to the type of the variable on the left of the assignment sign before assigning the value to it. However the following changes may occur during the final assignment.

  1. Float to int causes truncation of fractional part.
  2. Double to float causes rounding of digits.
  3. Long int to int causes dropping off the excess higher order bits.

So here in the above example, the right side expression of the assignment operator is evaluated and will be of type double. But this double value has to be assigned to the variable x, which is of type int, which is lower data type compared to double. The process to convert higher data types to lower types is called explicit type conversion. I explicit type conversion some data loss occurs as said in above there points.

so, to convert higher data types to lower, the syntax is:

lower_data_type_variable = (lower_data_type)higher_data_type_variable;

Example,

int y;
double d=11.22;
y = (int)d; //this gives double value in int by truncating fractional part.
printf(“%d”, y) ;

output: 11

What is a programming language?

The formal definition of programming language is “A programming language is a formal language comprising a set of instructions that produce various kinds of output”. In simple words, as we humans have different languages like Hindi, English, Tamil etc to communicate with each other, what if a human has to communicate with a computer? The language that enables us to communicate with a computer is known as Programming language. All computers speak in binary a series of 1 and 0.

If all the computers speak in binary, then why do we code using English alphabet? The answer to this question introduces two new terms, Compiler and interpreter.

Compiler

A compiler is a tool which is used to convert the text of a programming language (called source code) into machine code. It’s the compiler that converts the High Level Language(HLL) to Low Level Language(LLL). What are HLL and LLL?

High Level Language
A High Level language is a programming language that enables a programmer or user to write programs/codes in a way such that they are easier to read, write and understand. Such languages are considered as HLL because they are closer to Humal Languages and farther from Machine Languages.
Example: C, C++, Java, Python etc.

Low Level Languages
Low level programming language is basically a thing that is close to the hardware you are running your code on. A low level language is a type of programming language that contains basic instructions recognized by a computer. Low level code is often cryptic and not human readable.

Two common types of low level programming languages are Assembly language and Machine language.

Assembly Language
Assembly language is one step closer to high level language than Machine language. It includes commands such as MOV(move), ADD(add), and SUB(subtract). These commands perform basic operations moving values into memory registers and performing calculations. Assembly language can be converted into Machine language using Assembler.

It’s very hard to understand as low level languages are not human readable.

Machine language
Machine language or machine code is the lowest level of computer languages. It contains binary code, often generated by compiling high-level source code for a specific processor. Most developers never need to edit or even look at macine code. Only programmers who build software compilers and operating systems need to view machine code.
The basic Hello World program in machine language will be more worst than that of assembly language.

So what does the compiler go through to convert HLL to LLL? There are 6 phases in a compiler. Each of this phase help in converting the high-level programming language to machine code.

High level language -> lexical analyzer -> syntax analyzer -> intermediate code generator -> code optimiser -> code generator -> Machine code

Types of film certifications

Everyone might have been observed displaying a certificate before a film begins, either in theatre or CD. This means, the film makers display that certificate to everyone so that we can know the standards of that film. But how do those certificates tells us the standard and what do they actually implies? Let us see know.

These certificates are actually issued by the Central Board of Film Certifications. There are actually four types of film certifications issued by CBFC. The certificates are U, U/A, A and S. Let us know about each one of them clearly.

U

U certificate of CBFC means unrestricted public exhibition. This means public of any age group can watch the movie. The U certified films do not contain any pornographic content, too much violence, abuse etc. So these films are something like family entertainers, can be seen with whole family.

Some of the U certified movies are: Hum aapke hein koun, Bhag Milla Bhag etc.

U/A

U/A certificates mean parental guides for children under age 12. This means that the children with age below 12 shouldn’t watch those movies without their parents beside. These movies tend to contain some frightening scenes, little romantic scenes, usage of crude language, moderate abusive scenes, moderate violence. So, the CBFC recommends that the children under age 12 can watch these movies with their parents beside.

Some of the U/A certified movies are: Gajini, Bahubali, etc.

A

If a film is A certified then it means that film is restricted to adults i.e. nobody of age 18 and below are allowed to watch that movie. Thae films tend to have pornographic content, too much abuse, violence in peaks, crude language. So, these films are allowed to watch by the people who crossed 18 years as these people are considered as majors.

Some of the A certified films are: Kabir Singh, The Dirty Picture etc.

S

This is a special certificate and is rarely used. The S certified films are restricted to some special categories of people like engineers, doctors, scientists etc. So, if a film is S certified then it means that only engineers or doctors or scientists can watch that movie.

Initially there were only two certificates U and A. The U/A and S certificates were added in June 1983. The certificate will be provided within 64 days by the censor board members. The censor board members together discuss and decide the type of certificate to be given and this has to be done within 64 days of film’s submission to the board.

The films which include the topics of foreign countries are carefully watched by censor board and decide whether some of the scenes are to be excluded or not. Because, the relations with other nations should not get broken by films.

How do the certificates are given for foreign dubbed movies?

CBFC does not give any seperate certificate for dubbed films. The certificate will be same as the one distributed to the original film.

Hope this article provides you some basic information on film certifications.
