Karst is a type of landscape where the dissolving of the bedrock has created sinkholes, sinking streams, caves, springs, and other characteristic features. Karst is associated with soluble rock types such as limestone, marble, and gypsum. In general, a typical karst landscape forms when much of the water falling on the surface interacts with and enters the subsurface through cracks, fractures, and holes that have been dissolved into the bedrock. After traveling underground, sometimes for long distances, this water is then discharged from springs, many of which are cave entrances.
Chemical Reaction:-
Limestone is a type of carbonate rock — that is, a rock made up primarily of a carbonate mineral which, in the case of limestone, is usually calcite or aragonite. These are both forms of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Over time, limestone may be dissolved by carbonic acid (i.e., carbon dioxide dissolved in water). Carbonic acid is formed when rain picks up CO2 as it falls through the atmosphere. Once it hits the ground, it may pick up more CO2 in the soil, turning into a weak carbonic acid solution. When this solution seeps into limestone bedrock via cracks and fissures, larger openings are created. Over the course of thousands of years, this erosive process creates underground drainage systems and caves.

In India karst topography is present in the Vindhya region (mainly southwestern Bihar), the Himalayas (parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Robert Cave, Sahasradhara, the eastern Himalayas, areas near Dehradun), Pachmarhi in Madhya Pradesh, the surrounding coast near Vishakhapatnam, and Bastar in Chhattisgarh.
Summertime is the most awaited time of any student’s life. It gives them a break from the scorching sun and blazing heat. The summer months are quite hot, however, students love them because they bring a sense of calmness due to the vacations. It frees them from the monotonous and dull routine of school and studies. Most importantly, summer vacations give us a chance to explore new things. We can adopt new hobbies like painting, dancing, singing and more during this time.
Furthermore, it gives us a chance to visit our grandparents or to someplace abroad. Summer vacations bring all types of fun, however, these particular summer vacations were the most memorable for me. My parents made me join a summer camp which was too much fun and then we visited our grandparents’ place.Summer Camp:As the first day of my summer vacations started, I started getting bored easily. Mostly so because all my friends had gone to someplace or the other. My parents noticed this and decided to send me to a summer camp.
Our school itself was organizing one in which my parents got me enrolled. At first, I thought it would be of no use and would be equally boring. However, to my surprise, I was wrong. The summer camp was one of the best experiences of my life. I got the chance to indulge in so many activities and in fact, it was the first time where I discovered my talent for painting. We got up early in the morning at 7 o’clock, despite no school. We had trainers who would teach us different things each day.
On the first day, I got to learn karate, which was very amusing and helpful. Further, I learned how to play sports like basketball, table tennis, and volleyball. Finally, came my most awaited part. We were taught painting and unique tips to master this art. I learned it quickly and started enjoying painting. My passion for painting began from this summer camp, and I will forever be indebted to it.
My Grandparents’ Place:
After my summer camp ended, my whole family decided to visit my grandparent’s village. It is situated away from the city and is full of lush and greenery. I love spending time with my grandparents so I was very excited to visit their village. We stayed there for over two weeks, and that throughout that time, I was at my best behavior. I used to get up at 7 o’clock in the morning to take a stroll with my grandfather.
Then all the family members would get together to have breakfast full of healthy things and fresh fruits from the farm nearby. In the evening, we would sit by our grandmother’s bed and listen to stories. Then, my siblings and I used to go to the terrace and play games. We would also gaze at their stars all night, as we did not get that in the city.In short, this is how I spent my summer vacation. It was definitely one of the best times of my lives. I got to learn new things and spend valuable time with my grandparents. I feel blessed to have a loving family with whom I can enjoy my summer vacation.
Why are summer vacations important?

There a lot of ways to utilize a summer vacation. It can be done through indulging in many activities. One can join summer camps which teach new skills to students. One can also pay a visit to their grandparents or to some chilly place or abroad to enjoy it to the fullest.
Jaipur. The budding journalists interacted with theater actor/director Mr. Chitrarth Mishra, they discussed about the current scenario of theatre artists as affected by the pandemic. Mr. Mishra explained that currently the artists are waiting for state governments guidelines for further shows but also requesting the local auditoriums to provide them seating spaces for some time so they can perform in front of enough audience to cover up the expenses of director and the crew. These artists have also been planning with JKK to organise events or festivals to perform the plays that have been on hold from the past year.
Some artists have been performing at different venues with less people about 10-15 in open spaces with every person sitting in a distance of 2-6 feet. And all the people were to be checked and sanitized who entered the venue. Mr. Mishra told about the workshops and classes organized by the local artists for aspiring actors but they have to do that virtually as the number of covid cases rose, he said that they might plan on taking offline classes with a number of 20 members at a time if the condition gets better. These online workshops though have not been a complete success as according to Mr. Mishra acting is more of an physical activity but learning acting virtually has made it more of a lecture. Mr. Mishra said that plays have been performed online but people don’t seem to like attending them because amid this pandemic people’s lives have been revolving around these digital platforms.
The Art of Articulation is not something one is born with, rather it is something one learns with self practice.
Aren’t we often puzzled by hundreds of thoughts crossing our mind all at once! When required or asked about them we can hardly put one thought is a proper sentence.
Why does this happen? Why are not able to put across our exact feelings and thoughts to the people around?
The data industry is projected to grow by leaps and bounds over the next decade. Massive amounts of data are being generated every day with a quintillion bytes being the safe estimate. Data professionals and statisticians are of paramount requirement in this fast-paced, data-driven world. They perform many tasks ranging from identification of data sources to analysis of data. Additionally, they find trends and patterns in the existing data at hand, however, the real set of duties would depend from organisation to organisation. Since data is relevant in almost every field now, the statistical requirements would also understandably change with the various sectors.
Candidates aspiring to step into this industry would be expected to have a fair knowledge about the statistical software in use, being proficient in one increases the job prospects manifold. It is nevertheless advisable that the potential employees narrow down the types of companies they wish to…
Women have made landmark contributions encompassing various fields. Its time we sing joys of celebration for our sheroes too like we do for men. They have suffered various setbacks in life but emerged powerful as pointed out by Swami Vivekanand ,“Woman has suffered for eons, and that has given her infinite patience and infinite perseverance”.
For celebration we need to know about the milestones they have crossed and the hinderances they’ve overcome.
Their benefactions can be categorized Two folds .First theEducational Sector.
Second the Political and the Social Sector.
In Education:-
When discussing about Economy we cannot rule out the role education. The first female graduates Kadimbini Ganguly and Chandramukhi Bose long broke the stereotypes of Male centric education system. There have been other historic Educationists of India like Ayyalasomayajula Lalitha who became the first Engineer of India back in 1943.
Anandibai Gopalrao Joshi was the first female doctor of India.
SavitriBai Phule along with Mahatma Jyotiba Phule led a movement for education of Girls.
They faced social ostracization and societal pressures but did not stop.In the end, SavitriBai Died while serving the victims of plague. In the field of law which was highly patriarchic Cornelia Sorabji broke all shakles and became India’s first female lawyer. Durgabai Deshmukh an early lawyer and political activist said-“I had then decided to take up the study of law so that I could give women free legal aid and assist them to defend themselves.”
These woman are not mere inspirations or role models, theybecame game changers and paved the way for education for the upcoming generation.
Polity:-
Politics despite being male dominated ,some Strong Female leaders have made immense contributions to freedom struggle. Going back to the the Delhi Sultanate,Razia Sultan became the first and last Female to ever became sultan in 1236.
After that there were different princely states in which women lead their dynasties. Rani Laxmibai became an epitome of strength along with JhalkariBai giving a strong fight to British.
Uda Devi a ‘Dalit Virangana’ fought the British Bravely in 1857 Battle.
Rani Gaidinliu of Manipur, was imprisoned at a young age of 13 because of her Anti-British Stand.During the 1857 Revolt the participation of Begum Hazrat Mahal of Lucknow is unmatched.AhalyaBai Holkar of Malwa Kingdom is still remembered as one of the Finest Leaders of India. In the modern era of freedom struggle Female Leaders like Sarojini Naidu,Annie Besant,Vijay Laxmi Pandit(First Female President of UNGA),Aruna Asif Ali(Grand Old Lady of Independence) etc fought against the British.
Be it Anti partition movement of 1906 or Non Co-operation Movement or Civil Disobedient Movement, Women have added by large, the amplitude of struggle.
Revolutionaries like Capt.Laxmi Sehgal lead the Jhasi rani regiment of INA Army made by Subhash Chandra Bose.AlsoPritilata Waddedar,Kalpana Datta took up arms against the British.
Post-Independence Rajkumari Amrit Kaur became the first woman Health Minister of India.
Indira Gandhi not just became India’s First Prime Minister but also was the first female Finance Minister(1970-71),to present a budget.Sucheta Kriplani became the first female to become a Chief Minister of UP,also Sarojini Naidu became the first ever female Governor in UP.
The list of contributions made by our early Women is never ending. Such zeal and sacrifices, on par with those of Men, despite miniscule opportunities, simply motivates us.
It would be appropriate to agree with Mohammad Ali Jinnah when he quoted,
“There are two powers in the world; one is the sword and the other is the pen. There is a great competition and rivalry between the two. There is a third power stronger than both, that of the women”.
As the human civilization has progressed enormously since evolution, we have started occupying habitable lands and constructing living or working places throughout the planet. With high rise in population through centuries, man started expanding our lands and turning natural forests into brick, stone and metal buildings which have totally transformed into concrete jungles. We have modified the Earth’s natural resources according to our requirements, like developing roads, bridges, towers, dams, etc. to make space for our needs and wants. This has made life easier surely, but bringing about modifications in nature has its own perks. Take for instance, the construction of dams, changing the course of rivers, occupying areas surrounding them, as well as climate changes and global warming, poor town planning, deforestation, etc. has led to frequent flooding in human-occupied areas in the recent years. According to the 2019 Global Climate Risk Index report, floods account for 52% of the total calamities affecting India, claiming 63% of the material damage and 32% of the human losses reported as natural disasters. Floods may be caused by heavy rainfall, severe winds over water, tsunamis, failure of dams etc.
Floods have caused more loss than any other disaster worldwide and India is the second most affected country by floods after China. More than 40 million hectares, or 12 per cent of the country’s geographical area are prone to floods according to the National Disaster Management Authority. Many Indian states have been facing huge losses of life and property due to floods. The state of Kerala has been facing severe flooding conditions since four years. The state government authority estimated Rs 19000 crore loss of property, livestock and agriculture. The state of Assam too faces Heavy rainfall and flooding of Brahmaputra river every year. More than 1.5 lakh people had to seek refugee from about 5,474 villages that suffered flooding. Heavy rains in Uttarakhand lead to landslides blocking roadways and sometimes leading to loss of lives travelling through the mountainous areas. Every year Mumbai faces waterlogged roads, suspended transportation during the monsoon season. The other parts of Maharashtra have also been heavily flooding in the past few years.
This highlights the need for readiness of the frequently occurring disasters. There should be concrete steps taken to mark the flood prone areas so that the losses are minimized. Building infrastructure are required to cope with the frequently occurring floods. Channelisation can be used to redirect excess water. Forecasting mechanisms and a well flood prevention system is a must have in the flood-prone states. District-wise Flood Induntation mapping and other flood prevention engineering will go a long way to manage losses due to floods. Most of all the flood plains need to be reallocated. The flood prone settlements can be converted to afforested land. This will reduce the impact of floods. According to a WWF report, deforestation and global warming are the leading manmade reasons for causing disasters like floods. This hints at the urgent need to bring destructive human activities under control. Also, proper planning of human constructions in cities/towns is necessary in order to prevent disruption of river routes. All in all, we need to restore and reverse the damage caused by unprecedented natural calamities to bring the situation under control, effectively saving living life and preventing economical losses too.
We have transitioned well into the third decade of the 21st century now, with various changes happening around us everyday. With the inception of technology, internet, phones and numerous gadgets which have made our lives very easy, we have developed a lot as compared to the earlier few decades, and have also learnt to grasp and get accustomed to all the advanced machines we are introduced to. Life has become faster and easier for sure due to all of this, but we have reached a new high level of competition in life owing to all these changes. This has led to a lot of stress in our daily routine and the constant need to become all the smarter has seeped into our minds to such a level that we’ve started to miss the joy and satisfaction of the cute and lovely little things that happen with and around us each day. The happy space that we used to spend our childhood in with that chill-pill attitude has all withered away, and all that is left is the stress and hunger to be better each day and walk in sync with a thorough knowledge of what’s buzzing in the world. We have indeed become smarter, as the bar of gaining as much knowledge as possible goes higher and higher, but this is somehow leading to giving the quaint, happy time that we desperately need and deserve a miss. As we progress into a more advanced future, it is equally important to enjoy and savour all the cherishable moments in life, all because we have been gifted with only one! We need to destress, detoxify and rejuvenate ourselves once in a while to find ourselves, our interests, calmness and happiness, a state of mind with contentment and lasting inner peace. We need to take a break from the tiring routine, give all the tensions and work a break, and take a fun ride in the quest to get freshened up completely – a deep cleaning ritual if we may call it so! The real outside world is mesmerising, and we ought to experience its beauty with all our senses and live each moment in a stress-free environment. We can probably keep those electronics away for a few days and embrace the charm and charisma of the nature beheld before our eyes. It is necessary to detox and keep our calm in the chaos of the world in order to function efficiently, as it improves our productivity. To achieve this, we need to dive deeper into our mind, find what disturbs its peace and balance, rectify the problem, and voila! But this is quite easier said than done. The process of introspection is complicated, and we need to take out special time for concentrating on it. But just like the body needs its set of nutrients in order to function smoothly, the mind too, needs its own feedback mechanism and reboot protocol in order to set itself to a composed state. So, we need to figure out various ways of restoring this balance, explore what we like to do to freshen up our mind, how we can cope up to stress, how we can stay peaceful amidst all the ruckus and how we can maintain the level our productivity. And lo, with some patience and a strong determination, we are just there!
We have crossed almost one and a half year now, with the pandemic into its most powerful, raging form with two devastating waves of surge in the number of those affected with the deadly coronavirus. Many countries are facing the wrath of a scathing third wave too, with many new mutated forms and variants of the virus infecting millions of people around the world. Our daily lives have sure been disrupted with the advent of the nationwide lockdowns happening periodically in many countries including our own. From daily grocery stores to educational institutions, office spaces and workplaces, public places, malls and theatres, almost every place has pulled down the shutters temporarily, owing to the lockdown restrictions. Now, these were the regular day-to-day activities that were halted for a short time span. But what about international events which were planned long ago and their preparations had begun in fervour and flamboyance well in advance. Well, these were the events that would be attracting a lot of international tourists, spectators and most importantly, participants and attendees. But as the pandemic set in, international travel was strictly banned, with only very important and urgent travel allowances permitted. The world hoped that this chaotic situation might wither away soon, bringing everything running together smoothly and on track. But it wasn’t late until we realized that we would have to stay put inside our homes for almost the next two years to come and many of our long term plans had to be called off or put on hold for a while. One of these gala events everyone had set their eyes on was the Tokyo Olympics 2020 season. The extravagant Olympics that take place once every four years and are considered the epitome of sporting competitions are something which every aspiring star player and every nation looks forward to with gleaming hopes and pride. To receive the honour of hosting the Olympics is an proud achievement in itself for the hosting country. There are zillions of preparations that go into arranging and conducting the games successfully. With international level players and athletes from hundreds of professional sporting events coming in for the games, the hosting nations have to make sure that the players and their accompanying crew of coaches, medical professionals, etc. are provided with the best facilities and are given the warmest hospitality during their stay through the course of the games. Japan too, prepared with great enthusiasm for the Olympics, making a special Olympic village for the grand purpose too. With a huge budget and unending preparations, the island nation had been in its best form to prepare for the games. But in the face of the pandemic, the Committee had to keep on postponing the Olympics. The event which was to be conducted by mid-2020 was pushed to 2021 due to the difficult circumstances worldwide. But Japan stood up strongly and firmly to the global situation, with successful, well organized and perhaps wonderful conduction of the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Though spectators weren’t allowed in the stadiums for the live matches and events, the organizing body made sure all the games were live telecasted for the highly energetic crowds throughout the world. The nation truly played on a huge risk, but truly stood out in their efforts of bringing in a heartwarming and fantabulous Olympics season, sending a powerful message across the globe of staying strong and standing up with grit against the unprecedented situation with endurance. So, kudos to everyone who made a great effort to positively raise everyone’s spirits up though the Olympics, and kudos to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics!
Almost everything around us starts and stops in a circle. From Earth to life to food chains, etc., everything is spherical or circular, a set of chain reactions with one paving way for the next and so on, till the last again reverts back to the first step of the reaction. Well, all we see in the nature we live in works in this manner. The human race has made significant developments to add to, modify or completely revamp the working of this nature. With new discoveries and a whole new lot of inventions, we have sustained ourselves well by utilising the Earth’s resources and making valuable products out of them. Now, the environment has got its own ways and mechanisms to start a process and regenerate useful materials out of the waste created at the end of the process, thus re-using almost all of the materials in the most efficient manner and creating a near-zero waste system. But humans aren’t the best masters of controlling and regenerating safe and useful things from the waste generated. A large amount of waste is created daily due to humongous industrialization and commercial development. The impact of disposing this waste daily is affecting the Earth and its biosystem drastically by infiltrating its land, water and air spaces and introducing non-biodegradable elements into it. This in turn is bound to have debilitating effects on us and the other living systems on the planet and we will soon be facing a catastrophic situation if we continue in the same manner. So with this realization, a lot of research has been carried out to make our processes and products waste free or causing minimal waste. This will go a long way into protecting, recreating and restoring the natural reserves and creating a pollution-free environment for the coming future generations to live in. It will also help in co-habitation of other living organisms in the world with minimal harm and danger of extinction. This introduced the concept of circular economy.
What is circular economy?
According to European Parliament, a circular economy is a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible. In this way, the life cycle of products is extended. This means that waste production should be to a minimum, and the products should be used to their maximum utility, and then they should be reused with maximum productivity, to create further value. This will lead to zero or negligible waste generation, and whatever is created might be disposed off in the safest possible way either to be benefit the environment or to cause little or no harm to it. As the name suggests, circular economy aims to keep the process of production and revitalization indefinitely. Circular economy thrives on the goal of sustainability. The environmental and Government organizations are encouraging the use of a sustainable system that will result in higher resource efficiency and much less waste. As the United Nations Member States have aspired to adhere to Sustainable Development Goals since 2015, the linear supply chain consisting of material supply, design and manufacturing, distribution and use and discarding of product has found many branches of re-utilization like repair, reuse, optimization, remanufacture, recycle, reduction and energy production from waste which will ensure that the product is not completely discarded as waste or useless anytime.
Thus, with modern practices which are efficient, energy saving, are designed to create less waste and make up for the waste produced, we are walking towards a better tomorrow and a brighter and more favourable future for the years to come.
The universe and the Earth in particular, have been stupendous creations and nothing short of miracles, and it is a spectacle how our planet can sustain life and thrive in all the drastic conditions it is subjected to. Needless to say, humans have been bestowed with so many gifts by nature. We are dependent on nature for almost all our needs, and are truly fortunate to source our things from it for free (though human procuring and processing puts a hefty price on it!). With these resources, we have created a luxurious life for ourselves. We have built huge constructions on land and heights, literally everywhere possible to suffice our necessity of a stable living space. In order to procure such land space, we have cleared the natural flora of the area. Earlier, when human needs were limited and the population was sizable and controlled, the utilization of natural resources was done in an optimum manner. As technology came into the picture and great advancements led to urbanization and industrialization, the land requirement also went up drastically. After these revolutions picked up pace, the usage of available land increased to a great extent. As against this, though the Earth is a gigantic ball of habitable place, the actual land available to us is hardly 30% of it. Now as the necessity and utility increased, humans started occupying forest covers. This led to extensive deforestation and disruption of the balance in the natural ecosystem, resulting a number of problems. Today, the human race is largely responsible for a huge reduction in the number of trees and area under natural habitats, leading to a number of natural species being endangered or totally wiped out from the planet. Now, we ourselves might have to face the wrath of destroying this balance. As the area under forests dwindles day by day, we face numerous natural calamities and problems like scanty rainfall, climate change, increase in temperature leading to global warming, low fertility of soil, etc. which have been detrimental to a lot of living beings. The utilization of cutting these forest resources is done to make wooden furniture, paper, land for agriculture, commercial purposes, etc. But the demand of the time requires way more resources than the available and safely possible ones, leading to their over-utilization and depletion eventually, and causing way more harm in the process. As the nature is a chain of cycles and systems, if one step of the process is stopped or deleted, there is no bypass or alternative to complete the chain and the complete system gets disrupted thus affecting all the other elements in it. So, care needs to be taken in order to set and keep the process going smoothly. But as it is said, ’Destruction is easy, but creation is complicated and magical’, reverting and restoring environmental balance is way more difficult than safekeeping it while good. So, we need to realize that it is high time now and we need to stop the ginormous extent of deforestation in order to secure a good future for the Earth and a conducive and productive environment where all the creations will live in harmony. It is necessary to diligently plant and grow trees as many possible, recycle our available resources, use technology in the best possible way to reduce cutting of trees, find alternative sources of usage, implement laws to prevent deforestation and protect the existing and new trees, etc. in order to stop damage to our environment and preserve the antiquities the creator has gifted to us!
Ever since we humans have descended onto the Earth and made developments through generations and centuries, we have been living with decorum and discipline. The world has become quite organized and diversification has been well designed, planned and implemented. Well, as more and more people get access to better quality of knowledge, competition has levelled up too, and even though there are numerous opportunities available to everyone, the opportunities per person are less than a millionth. With such a tough and cut-throat competition taking place, the chances of making the cut amongst the selected ones for any opportunity is really difficult. People have to stay resilient and hard as a rock to complete and overcome all hardships to stay in the race. Physically with practice and consistency, hurdles seem to be easier to cross. But the real hurdle here is the emotional quotient. It is a herculean task to keep up with failures, setbacks and keep working towards our goals despite all the problems. Also, peer pressure and public opinions affect us and our outlook adversely. The conception of living a healthy life doesn’t just mean good physical health, it also hints towards good mental, emotional and social well-being as well. Thus proper mental health should also be maintained in order to remain completely fit and happy. But mental health isn’t given the same level of attention and importance as maintaining a fit body. Though it is said that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body, a healthy mind paves for a happy self. It is extremely necessary to keep an equally healthy state of mind and stability in order to live a fulfilling and enriching life. Not until very recently, psychological and mental issues were stigmatised and overlooked at by the society. But the gen – z has raised awareness about such issues, and has motivated people to come out of their shells and seek professional help to overcome their problems. Many famous personalities and public figures have opened about their stories, their health problems and how they accepted it and sought the help of their close people and medical experts to get better and healthy. This has encouraged the common person to address his/her condition with a better outlook and positive approach rather than being embarrassed and not facing it, causing more self-harm in the process.
The lifestyle that today’s generation lives is subjected to great stress levels, and coping with that huge amount of stress is itself a great challenge in today’s world. Some people might happen to get stuck in this maze, and might be unable to find the other side of the lit tunnel. These people might happen to be our close-knit ones too, and we might be unaware of what they are going through. In such cases, if we realize that our near and dear ones are emotionally distressed, it is our moral responsibility to support them in their hard times instead of ignoring or mocking them. We need to help them understand that it is totally okay if they are going through a low phase or are emotionally disturbed in any way, and that they can reach out to someone they are comfortable with, or medical professionals who can help them better in such a situation. The same goes with us too. The most important part of bouncing back with vigour and flamboyance in such situations is self-belief. If we believe in our strengths, willpower and potential, nothing is impossible and even the most difficult things are accomplishable. To be emotionally strong and focused, we need to embark on a journey of self-realization, that is, finding ourself. When we understand our good side and shortcomings, we can enhance our strengths and work on our weaknesses to become better versions of ourselves. Activities like meditation, spirituality and wellness programs can help connect our mind and body and help them work in unison as a whole unit in order to increase productivity and synchronization. Many relaxation activities can really help unwind and develop a peaceful environment for introspection and retrospection. This in turn can prove useful to help us understand our mistakes, so that we work on them well. This can also help us understand if our methods and ways are aligned in the proper direction and we can propel ourselves accordingly. We need to look after our mental health with the same intensity and importance as we do for our bodily health. A balanced and completely fit body will help us in living a contended and happy life.
