The way to self-improvement

Everybody likes money, it is an essential aspect of our daily lives that controls society. We use it for exchanging goods and services as well as a benchmark for our success. Knowledge and health follow the same principle, we deem people who are smarter or more fit than us just as better, wanting to become better is in the mindset of all of us. It matters whether we put in the effort or not. Money making, boosting health and attaining knowledge which consists of two parts and it’s very simple structure aspect that is ‘Investment’. This is essentially investing and setting aside time money or any other resources to reach your goal, this might seem like common sense but most people say that they are going to do something but end up not doing it due to laziness or not having enough time.

If you truly care about something you will make time and think of a way to achieve that goal. Let’s take the concept of investing resources and apply it to stock market or money making concept. The younger you start investing , the less money you have to invest per day, per month or even per year to become a millionaire by age of 65. If you want to invest more, go ahead and make the million come to you faster. By investing money and time, you get to enjoy your life more slowly improving your wealth over time. We can invest our money into any company, may that be Google, Amazon, Walmart, Tesla, etc. The sooner you start investing your money, the less effort is required to reach a million and this strategy can be applied to any goal that you create. Knowledge and health follow the same principle, invest money and time and you will be greatly rewarded throughout your journey. Buy books or courses for improving your overall health or your knowledge or buy a personal trainer that can help you to change your dream body. Overall it all boils down to whether you are able to achieve your willing goal, you should actually take a leap towards your goal.

The hardest part of your journey will be aspect number two- ‘Motivation’. Motivation differs from person to person, some people want to become rich to have a great life for themselves while others to give money to organizations that make the world a better place, some people want to have an aesthetic body for showing off and others for their fitness, it differs. Motivation is the burning sensation inside of you that either one wants to continue ferociously or wants to give up because you aren’t seeing the results or it seems too risky. We have to realize that by investing into a better view, it doesn’t matter whether you might have pitfalls in your journey, whereas phrase goes “keep your eyes on the prize”. Fundamentally it does not matter what your goal is, find ways to never lose hope and motivation to succeed and you will achieve your goal much faster than you planned.

Improvement can be achieved in two parts- invest time, money or any other resources that you need and the other one is to have the pure persistence or find ways to never lose hope and motivation to succeed. This adds upto a better version of you.

Cuban Link Chain: Symbol Of Luxury

The mind may wither. The body may deteriorate. But the love of art and fashion is what keeps us young. The one constant thing in the world is our eternal love for jewellery.

Since ancient times, we have adorned ourselves with whatever we could find, such as animal bones, teeth of predators, bird feathers and shells and carapaces from the ocean. For years, pharaohs, sultans and emperors wore jewellery as a way of displaying wealth and power. Since then, we have come a long way, but the times have not evolved much.

Even though the reasons for wearing jewellery has not changed, the type of jewellery we wear certainly has. The Cuban link chain is one such type that will never go out of fashion in the world of fine jewellery. Yet, it could never compete with the renowned gold-coloured chains.

Cuban link chains, also known as Miami Cuban links, has a unique interlocked pattern and a thick texture to give prominence to the round or oval links. The links intersecting to form a rope-like design ensures durability and high quality. It explains why they can be crafted into large and heavy pieces while looking versatile and stylish at the same time.

Despite the many claims, the exact origin of the Cuban links is unknown. But they are likely to be the product of a hip-hop jewellery movement in the late 1970s that originated in Miami. There are a plethora of types of jewellery in the market that tend to disappear into the wind and come back in vogue a few years later. But, the Cuban link has managed to stay relevant and never went out of style till today. It has found its way to the wish list of many in recent times. The one thing we can say for sure is that it is here to stay.

The Cuban link is not for the faint-hearted. It doesn’t necessarily cost an arm and a leg, but it does cost sky-high, which is why we can see many rappers favouring and flaunting it for all the world to see. After all, solid gold and chock full of diamonds make up the Cuban links. A single chain can cost nearly $27,000. But a more valuable one could cost ten times more than that. It is a representation of all the success and hard work they have endured.

The Cuban links are generally handmade and the diamonds set by hand since they require extreme and impeccable craftsmanship. Designing a single chain calls for the skill of more than five experienced jewellers. It can take over twelve hours to create high-quality pieces that are worthy of the spotlight.

The most attractive feature is that you can style the Cuban link the way you want, like a long chain or a choker. Go for a basic yet stylish look or wear it extravagantly with other pendants. Else, you could wear it as a choker, just as Rihanna did in one of her outfits. Ultimately, the choice dwells with you.

With the legacy of the Cuban links evolving every day, it comes real close to being the best friend for both men and women. There is no reason why you should be modest about its allure. If you got it, why not flaunt it!

Education for Development

It’s not possible to predict all future educational issues, or know every detail of the sector’s current situation, but in the process of applying for teacher training some research will go a long way in demonstrating your enthusiasm and impressing potential employers.Recruiters are looking to see how much you’re engaging with current issues and are aware of the challenges that these place on a school. Your answers can reveal if you are genuinely interested in education, schools and the world of teaching.Today, education remains an inaccessible right for millions of children around the world. More than 72 million children of primary education age are not in school and 759 million adults are illiterate and do not have the awareness necessary to improve both their living conditions and those of their children.

You may have a question around recent education trends, current issues or new methodologies in education. In your interview you may be asked to create a presentation on current issues in education or asked a question around current issues in schools and in the media. Relate your answers back to the classroom – start with, ‘when I was in the classroom, I noticed…’ or ‘in the staffroom, I heard teachers talk about…’. Take a look at what other teaching interview questions you may be asked.

For many children who still do not have access to education, it is notable because of persisting inequality and marginalization.

In developing and developed countries alike, children do not have access to basic education because of inequalities that originate in sex, health and cultural identity (ethnic origin, language, religion). These children find themselves on the margins of the education system and do not benefit from learning that is vital to their intellectual and social developmentFactors linked to poverty such as unemployment, illness and the illiteracy of parents, multiply the risk of non-schooling and the drop-out rate of a child by 2.

Undeniably, many children from disadvantaged backgrounds are forced to abandon their education due to health problems related to malnutrition or in order to work and provide support for the family..

Universal primary education is a major issue and a sizeable problem for many states. Many emerging countries do not appropriate the financial resources necessary to create schools, provide schooling materials, nor recruit and train teachers. Funds pledged by the international community are generally not sufficient enough to allow countries to establish an education system for all children.

Equally, a lack of financial resources has an effect on the quality of teaching. Teachers do not benefit from basic teacher training and schools, of which there are not enough, have oversized classes.

This overflow leads to classes where many different educational levels are forced together which does not allow each individual child to benefit from an education adapted to their needs and abilities. As a result, the drop-out rate and education failure remain high.

A few problems

India has always been a country which has had it’s own issues and problems. Over the years people have may have looked to change but to be honest there is not much change among people. This is an interpretation of an excerpt about the city of Mumbai, The city might have it’s own beauty but under this beauty there are huge scams and secrets running in the city. The city has a very ongoing influx and efflux of people due to its so called name. The country of India itself is referred to the place of No’s as wherever you whatever you do, there is a huge blockage and that is of the No.

People constantly get rejected. Want an auto? No. Want a ride? No. Want some help? No. The metropolis such as Bombay usually have a huge problem of Overpopulation. In a single building there is a huge population which causes a rise in issues and lack of privacy. Indians also do not maintain their own places of living. Usually winds blow in a lot of garbage into houses which cause ailments and soon people end up in a hospital. Service providers come to do their work on their own will and own sweet time no matter when the owner calls them. People choose to do their own work according to their own desire and wills.

Another problem is how our country provides the whole world with some of the best technical brains and forces but yet we do not develop. People go abroad to study and settle down instead of working for our own country. Why is that? The chances of the population go to either the meritious or the rich. You are either smart or you are rich to buy them off. Everything done in this country falls under the quota of academics or money. People usually do not tend to see the other characteristics of an individual such as confidence or athletic capacity as sometimes these can also define an individual.

These are just a percent of the issues of the Indian population there are a hundred more reasons why our country is still stuck in the same status and rank in the case of development. While other countries are rushing their way through development, India still takes small steps just to reach a goal. The people and their mentalities are the main reason why the country is failing to develop unlike a lot of its peers.

Health and Fitness

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. This is the definition provided by the World Health Organization. Good health is generally the state of normal disease-free conditions. As per the report of Lalonde from Canada, the key factors of a persons health are broadly separated into 3 main categories- Lifestyle, this is usually the choices the individuals choices of day to day actions and products, Environment, which are the external factors of the individual, Biomedical, these factors are influenced by various genetic factors. Major reasons which lead to the fading health in an individual are diseases, malnourishment, injuries and lifestyle choices. Almost lakhs of people die from various diseases yearly due to lifestyle and cardiovascular diseases due to changes. There is also an increasing importance of mental well being recently. Medications of various types have been developed such as Allopathic, Ayurvedic and Homeopathic. What are these various categories of medication? Allopathic medication usually refers to the day to day medication we ingest in the form of tablets. These are usually composed of various chemical formulations and so on. Ayurveda and Homeopathy are more into the side of using natural products and ingredients. They are more focused on the usage of things directly from earth than synthesizing it.

Fitness during the pandemic has been of immense interest. People have a lack of access to gyms and other facilities due to the lockdowns and restrictions. Due to this sudden shift of schedule, people either do not work out or do too much. Both are equally harmful for the human body. There has been reports on an increase of feeding habits among individuals during the pandemic and due to the fear of body image there was also an increase in the addition of workouts on a day to day basis. Some tips to keep up with the fitness needs for any individual would be, do some kind of exercise for at least half an hour a day. This gives your body some time to move around and your metabolism to rise up again. Due to the constant sitting and doing work on our laptops sometimes we get confined to that area which harms us. We might not realize it now but over time we will as it also results in stiffness and fat deposition. Make small lifestyle changes such as walking while on a video call or a normal call with someone. These could really make a difference!

PROBLEMS OF UNEMPLOYMENT IN INDIA:

PROBLEMS CAUSES:

Unemployment and poverty goes side by side. Young people after a long time of unemployment find the wrong way to earn money. To get rid from the unemployment stress, they accept alcohol or drugs.Unemployed youths accepts suicide as the last option of their life.Lower economic growth.Unemployment means a person willing to work but unable to find a qualified job. Our country is facing many problems but one of the serious problem is of unemployment. Many graduates, doctors, engineers, scientist are unemployed or working underemployed.

Due to unemployment we are wasting our country’s human resource. The unemployed rate in between age group 15- 29 has been increased since 2009-2010. According to the Global Employment Trends 2014 the unemployment rate has raised to 3.8%, last year it was 3.7%. The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has said in the recent report that India has shown rise in the unemployment in the last two years. If the problem of unemployment is solved it will help in development of the country. With Population of1.20 billion in our country the unemployment rate is increasing day by day.

The problem of unemployment is rising but still many industries are facing the problem of skilled candidate for their company. There is a boom of software companies, Outsourcing companies in India, but still facing the problem of unemployment. Here are some of the reasons why there is unemployment in India.

There are employment opportunities in India, but the rising population problem creates the unemployment. If the population grows in the same rate the next generation will face more problems of unemployment. If there is vacancy for 1 position 100 or 1000 apply for the position and only one gets the job and others remain unemployed.InflationIndians don’t take jobs which are below their grades. Many find it difficult to work at the below qualification level job.Low wages or salary below the market rate. Many big industries look for the skilled candidate only, for their company.RecessionMany Employers give preference to the experienced candidates only and not the fresher. Not enough or new jobs: As per the experience & analysis from Get Sarkai Naukri, number of new government jobs is decreasing every year. Government is not able to create enough jobs keeping in mind the Indian population.Slow business expansion Advanced Technology: Earlier for a task hundreds or thousand people were required to do a work but now due to the advanced technology only one person can do many people’s work. With the advanced technology companies are hiring few persons to operate the machine. Give a command on computer and the work is done this has cut off the employment of many.Corruption: In Government sector and in some private sector people get the job by giving the bribe. Even though the candidate is not that qualified but if he gives the bribe he gets the job. So to get a government job give a bribe. The qualified candidate remains unemployed as no money to give the bribe. Even though the candidate is not that qualified but if he gives the bribe he gets the job. So to get a government job give a bribe. The qualified candidate remains unemployed as no money to give the bribe. The problem of unemployment gives rise to the problem of poverty. As the employed youth don’t have anything to do they start doing robbery, murder etc.Health issues i.e it affects mentally as well as physically Solutions to the unemployment in India .

1. The very first solution for the unemployment is to control the rising population of our country. Government should motivate people to have small families. Indian government has started initiatives to control the population but still the population is rising.

2. The quality of Indian education should be improved. The current education system is not upto the level. Government should keep a strict watch on the education system and try to implement new ways to generate skilled labour force. Government should select a committee to look after the schools and universities. The syllabus taught is of no use to the industries so the education should be as per the current requirements of the industries. Before completing the education a practical knowledge should be given.

3. Also today’s youth should join the institute or select the course where proper training is given and the course is as per the current industries requirements. Take the course as per your interest and which will bright your future.

4. Government should encourage and develop the agriculture based industries in rural areas so that the rural candidates don’t migrate to the urban areas. More employment should be generated in rural areas for the seasonal unemployment people.

5. Rapid Industrialization should be created.

6. Development of the rural areas will stop the migration of the rural people to the urban cities and this will not put more pressure on the urban city jobs.

7. Government should allow more foreign companies to open their unit in India, so that more employment opportunities will be available.

Caged Bird by Maya Angelou

This poem was published in 1983 in Maya Angelou’s poetry collection “Shaker, why don’t you sing?”. This was her 4th volume of poetry which was published by Random House. It contains 28 poems and they are dedicated to her son guy Johnson and her grandson Colin Ashanti Murphy Johnson. Maya Angelou has depicted the plight of the Black American especially Black Women through this poem.

In this poem, Maya Angelou tries to make a comparison between a free bird and the caged bird. The birds are used as an extended metaphor, the African Americans are compared to the caged birds and the unoppressed people compared to the free birds. The African Americans had to suffer immensely and the caged bird’s captivity depicts the same, whereas the free bird and its freedom to be able to do anything that it likes and its will to claim the sky and everything in its reach depicts the privilege and the entitlement that the un-oppressed felt

The free bird can fly anywhere, explore the sky and they are not subjected to any limitation but the caged bird is kept behind the cage, it cannot fly anywhere and it feels helpless and angered, in the same way, Maya Angelou tries to explain that the oppressed people were not given opportunities and they were treated badly.

The caged bird sings of freedom and that is why that song can be heard even on the distant hills. To the bird which is free, freedom is something which they do not think about whereas for the caged bird freedom is a privilege.

The oppressors feel that they own everything and that they can achieve more and more just like the free bird names the sky his own but the oppressed were not allowed to do anything, they were treated as slaves.

“A free bird leaps

on the back of the wind

and floats downstream

till the current ends

and dips his wing

in the orange sun rays

and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks

down his narrow cage

can seldom see through

his bars of rage

his wings are clipped and

his feet are tied

so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings

with a fearful trill

of things unknown

but longed for still

and his tune is heard

on the distant hill

for the caged bird

sings of freedom.

The free bird thinks of another breeze

and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees

and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn

and he names the sky his own

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams

his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream

his wings are clipped and his feet are tied

so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings

with a fearful trill

of things unknown

but longed for still

and his tune is heard

on the distant hill

for the caged bird

sings of freedom.”

Life in Village

We most of us are living in towns and cities nowadays and our lifestyle has changed a lot. We are living in a place full of tall apartments, shopping malls, all big companies and so on. But is there plenty of trees around us? Absolutely no. Yes we are living in a place filled with pollution and dust. But think of a village life? Life is peaceful over there with nature.

Village is a place surrounded by only nature things. We can say it as a non-polluted area. People over there don’t live luxurious life, but a peaceful and happy life. The atmosphere over the village will also be dust free as the whole area would be surrounded by trees and plants. The best part of village would be the agricultural lands. Most of the people would be farmers in the village who are the backbone of our country. Yes, farmers are the ones who provide us food. Farmers are the best hard working people in the world. Also the people in villages are not by much of diseases.

The food they eat also will be healthy foods which naturally gives us strength. They consume chemical free foods which make them healthier. They also follow certain culture and tradition to celebrate festivals. The traditional festivals in village would be fascinating to watch. All the families would gather together for a festival in villages and celebrate with joy and happiness. The people in villages spend time with their family more than the people who live in cities. Even though some villages don’t have good network facility they remain in contact with their friends and family. Moreover, people in village give respect to each other and help them when they are in need of help. But we people in cities are living a life where there is no time to spend with family and friends.

Children in village also grow up in a good society. The children over there learn good character which develop them into a perfect individual. They also play more outdoor games rather than sitting with gadgets. They too get good education and bloom into perfect professionals. Some children also study farming and bring out new methods in organic farming.

Villages doesn’t have big apartments, but houses which are small and beautiful. The villagers are happy and satisfied with what they have. They also treat animals with love and care. They don’t torture the animals rather give them good food and take care of them. Villagers are people with culture and respectfulness. The people in the village are always happy.

But nowadays we are destroying these beautiful villages and turning it to industries and apartment.  Let us stop doing that and also promote afforestation. Imagine can we get a life like in this cities? Exactly no. So at least we will plant more trees in the place we are and make our area pollution free.

Administrative Law

Definitions:-

According to the definition of Sir Ivon Jennings” Administrative Law can be defined as a law relating to administration. It determines the organization, powers and duties of administrative authorities.” According to Britanica,

Administrative law, the legal framework within which public administration is carried out. It derives from the need to create and develop a system of public administration under law, a concept that may be compared with the much older notion of justice under law. Since administration involves the exercise of power by the executive arm of government , administrative law is of constitutional and political, as well as juridical in nature.

Austin has defined administrative law as one which determines the ends and modes to which the sovereign power shall be exercised. According to him sovereign power should be either exercised directly by the monarch or entrusted to subordinate political agents holding a position of trust.

Holland regards Administrative law as “one of the six divisions of public law”.

Bernard Schawartz has defined it to be the law applicable to those administrative agencies which possess adjudicatory authority of a delegated legislation.

The three main stages led to the expansion of the meaning of the term Administrative law-
1. Laissez Faire

2. Dogma of Collectivism

3. Social-Welfare State

Indian context:

The moving of a state from the laissez faire to welfare state.

Administration has been in the forefront in indian history.Akbar and Ashoka’s court provide classic examples of the same.Later on the British administration was adapted and embibed in India. After independence, After independence, India adopted to become a welfare state, which henceforth increased the state activities. As the activities and powers of the Government and administrative authorities increased so did the need for ‘Rule of Law’ and ‘Judicial Review of State actions’.

Henceforth, if rules, regulations and orders passed by the administrative authorities were found to be beyond the authorities legislative powers then such orders, rules and regulations.

Influence of Western Cuisine on Indians

Burgers, fries, pizza, turkey, hot dogs, wraps, sandwiches, pasta and shakes. Yum, right? While dreaming of delicious food, our mind often wanders to the foods offered by Western cuisine. We cannot deny the irresistible appeal of Western food even though we have pretty good choices of hot and spicy veggies and curry on our Indian menu.

The fast-food chains such as McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC, etc., influenced by western food, are rampant across every part of the world. Western cuisine is gaining rapid popularity everywhere to provide for guests from different nationalities because of tourism.

Do you even remember the last time you ate with your hands? Spoons, forks and chopsticks have invaded our traditional way of consuming food. When we eat with our hands, we become more conscious of the taste, flavours and aroma, leading us to relish and enjoy our food more. Right from the way of eating to what we eat, everything has changed due to westernization.

The staple diet of western people revolves around meat. They have bread as a supplement or an appetizer. They tend to eat fried foods over others and include artificially developed products and processed ingredients. They prefer minimal spices in their food too. But we Indians, on the other hand, love the mix of spices such as cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, saffron and many more. Our staple diet is rice and vegetables. We have unlimited and wide varieties of options to choose from for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We are more inclined towards fresh and homemade food.

We have established that Indian cuisine has aromas, spices and all the tasty whatnots. But still, we prefer Western cuisine. There are many reasons behind it. One chief deduction is that we have always had an inferiority complex that made us hold the Western culture in high regard. In doing so, we began to imitate their lifestyle to become equals to them. The other equally significant reason is that globalization has caused Western foods to crawl into Indian kitchens.

There are two sides to a coin. Sure they look appetizing, taste phenomenal and takes little to cook, making it a convenient choice. What more can we ask for, right? Anyhow, did we ever stop to wonder whether these types of food are suitable for us? They may tickle our taste buds at the moment, but they leave a profound mark on our long-term health.

Western food increases the risks of high blood pressure, diabetes and heart attack. Due to the lack of variety, it focuses higher on sugar and fats. It causes a threat to our biological system, leading to a rise in diabetes patients in our country.

The abundance of fat in fried foods is the main culprit provoking unhealthy weight gain and digestive troubles. Forget about maintaining your thin waistline and toned abs if you are not ready to give up chicken nuggets and salty dips. But, sacrificing them and switching to roasted and baked foods would prevent the adverse effects later in your life.

Despite the ease of preparation, Western dietary habits are disastrous to our health. If we do not establish a stop system to shut down the onset of the growing fast food industry, obesity and lifestyle risk factors will become more prevalent in India.

10 Things In Life Everybody Should Know

Just like how we require a driving license test to be cleared in-order to drive any vehicle on the road, there are certain life lessons which are tested since the very beginning of our lives. There are a certain few things in life which does not require any examination to be given, but at the same time, assesses us in the same way as any other examination. Few of those life lessons are as follows:

  1. Nobody will get out of this life alive- One should acknowledge the fact that life is finite and that everybody is here for a short life span. The very fact that life is temporary will help us acknowledge that we should live our lives to the best each day.
  2. Life is unpredictable, but one can have a plan- Life is very unpredictable, there can be many unforseen circumstances unfolding us in our journey of life. But, a simple plan can ensure us to face the obstacles better and though a plan is not sure about the outcome, it will lessen our fear and obstacles in such a way that we will be able to face anything.
  3. Great Friendships enhance the quality of life- We come across many people in our lives. Some of them stay with us throughout our lives. Always ensure to invest in a few friends, they will be worth it, they bring in the best out of you. But always do remember that quality of friends is more important than quantity.
  4. Always expect and accept setbacks- Setbacks and uncompleted goals or tasks are sure be to there with us. It is on us to move on from it and if those setbacks sets apart our direction or goal, accept it, as it might give us surprises which we would never have imagined.
  5. Do not be materialistic- We might earn a lot of money when we are into any business or profession. But always keep in mind not to be materialistic. Managing with the amount of money we have is the most effective way and the lesser the money we have, we’ll be more effective in spending it.
  6. Always invest on our health- Health is Wealth! Maintaining our body is very important in the long run. Always ensure to pick a good new exercise each day as it will keep our body and mind fit throughout. Always cling on to the new good habits learnt.
  7. Self-discipline is important- Self-discipline is very important to achieve all of our desires. Self-discipline can sometimes be defined as doing what we do not want to do in-order to acheive the thing or result which we wanted to do. Self-discipline will ensure balance among work life, social life and personal life.
  8. Make provision for future- The very fact that life is unpredictable will make us always think about having an emergency fund. Save a certain amount of money for any sort of future emergencies, start off small and then keep increasing your savings.
  9. Mean what you say- Always say what you mean and mean what you say. It brings about clarity in our mind and our spoken words. It will bring about confidence in yourself and the people around you will be confident with you too.
  10. No Procrastination- The habit of postponing things on a later date should never be learnt. What is to be done, one should be determined to do it. Procrastination makes tasks harder.

So, these are some of the ways in which one can lead to an easy life and will be able to lead a meaningful life.

Mutual Funds 1O1- Types (Part II)

In this article, we will take forward the conversation we started in “Mutual Funds 1O1- Types (Part I)”. If you haven’t given the previous article a read at- https://eduindexnews.com/2021/06/22/mutual-funds-1o1-types-part-i/ ,I would recommend doing that for better understanding.

Now, that we are all caught up let’s start from where we left:

3. Debt Funds Debt funds aim to provide safety and regular income to investors through investing in the fixed income instruments like Government bonds, corporate debentures etc. The periodic interest received on these bonds is used to provide regular income to unit holders in the form of dividend. These funds are considered less risky in comparison to equity funds. However the NAV of these funds is influenced by the market interest rate movements. If the interest rates in the market moves up, NAV of these funds declines and vice-versa. If an investor plans to exit at the maturity of the scheme then he is not affected by such movements. There are several types of debt funds like:

3.1 Diversified Debt Funds: Diversified debt funds invest the corpus of the scheme in the debt securities of various sectors and in the government as well as corporate debt instruments. Because of inherent safety of debt and added diversification, these schemes are considered to offer moderate to low risk and return to its investors.

3.2 High Yield Debt Funds: High yield debt funds are the mutual fund schemes which invest in the below investment grade bonds with a rating of BB or lower than that. Because these bonds are quite risky therefore in order to attract the investors they offer high yield. Thus in spite of debt investments these schemes offer high risk-high return to its investors. The NAV of these schemes is quite volatile and the scheme’s portfolio has high default risk and in turn high return.

3.3 Fixed Maturity Plan (FMP): FMPs are Close ended schemes, issued by Mutual funds, and mature at fixed maturity date. It could be 15 days, 30, 90, 141, 180 or even 365 days. Some even have a three or five-year time frame. At the end of this period, the scheme matures, just like a fixed deposit. FMPs invest in fixed income instruments, like bonds, government securities, money market instruments (very short-term fixed return investments) etc. The objectives of FMPs are to generate steady returns over a fixed maturity period and protect the investors against market fluctuations. FMPs are typically passively managed fixed income schemes with the fund manager locking in to investments with maturities corresponding with the maturity of the plan.

3.4 Floating Rate Debt Funds: These funds invest in floating rate debt securities. Example: rate of 10 year G-Sec +1%. Their NAV fluctuates less than debt funds investing in fixed rate instruments because their coupon rate moves in line with the market interest rate.

3.5 Gilt Funds: Gilt funds as the name implies are the schemes which invest in the safest debt instruments. These schemes invest in the long term government bonds which do not have any risk of default. However these long-term bond prices are affected by the general interest rate movements and follow an inverse relationship. Thus NAV of the gilt fund goes down when interest rates in the market go up and vice-versa. A short term investor has to be careful about these movements

3.6 Money Market or Liquid Fund: Money market mutual funds are often used by short term retail investors or corporates to park their short-term surplus funds. These funds offer the highest safety of principal and liquidity of funds to its investors. These funds invest the investor’s money in safe and liquid debt instruments like certificate of deposits, commercial papers, call and notice money market etc. These instruments are quite safe and have negligible default risk. At the same time they have very short maturities and therefore are not much influenced by interest rate movement because in such a short span of time there is very low probability of adverse interest rate movements. Thus money market mutual funds are considered as least risky among all the mutual funds

4. Hybrid Funds: Hybrid funds are the funds which allocate the funds in the equity as well as debt securities. There are various types of such funds like:

4.1 Balanced Fund: Balance funds also known as hybrid funds aim to provide the investor the capital appreciation of equity as well as regular income and safety of debt investment. They invest the pool of funds received from the investors under the scheme in the judicious mix of equity and debt instruments. The perfectly balanced fund will invest 50% of corpus in debt and 50% in equity. An equity oriented balanced fund will invest more than 65% of corpus in equity while a debt oriented balanced fund will allocate less than 65% of its corpus in equity. Thus they offer moderate risk and return to investors.

4.2 Monthly Income Plan (MIP): The investment objective of the Monthly Income Plan is to distribute dividends among its unit holders, every month. It therefore invests largely in debt securities (75 to 80% of their corpus) so that periodic interest received from such debt investments can be used to declare regular dividends. However, a small percentage is invested in equity instruments to improve the scheme’s yield.

4.3 Capital Protection Funds: Capital protection fund is a fund whereby the AMC (asset management company) safeguards the capital invested, irrespective of the fund’s performance. These schemes ensure the capital protection for the investors by investing in the government securities with no risk of default. A calculated portion of corpus is invested in fixed income instruments to ensure the capital protection and balance in equity for some capital appreciation in the portfolio. This calculated portion is decided by applying the time value of money concepts to the returns received in the fixed income instruments. For example, Let us assume in a capital guaranteed scheme, a person invests Rs.10000 and the scheme is a close ended scheme for 3 years. After 3 years, he has to be given back at least Rs.10000.Fund will invest Rs.7938 in Debt fund generating a return of 8% which will provide Rs.10000 after 3 years. Rs.2062 will be invested in the derivative market and will generate returns or at the most it may remain Rs.2062. If it remains Rs.2062, the investor will get back Rs.10000+2062= Rs.12062 a return of 6.45%.

5. Fund of Funds: A mutual fund which invests the pool of funds collected from the investors under the schemes, in the other mutual fund schemes is called Fund of Funds. Just as a mutual fund invests the funds in different securities like equity, debt etc., a fund of funds holds units of many different mutual fund schemes and cash/ Money market securities / Short term deposits. A fund of funds permits investors to achieve the appropriate diversification and suitable asset allocation with investments in various fund categories that are all packaged in the form of one fund. However, if the fund of funds carries an operating expense, investors are essentially paying double for an expense that is already included in the expense figures of the underlying funds.

While the liquid funds are perceived as least risky and therefore offering lowest returns, the sector funds give highest returns though at the cost of huge risk. Other schemes have varying risk-return profiles which may be categorized as high, moderate & low risk-return combinations etc. as shown in the figure.

Helath care availability issues

The robust transformation of India’s Public Healthcare System witnessed in the past few decades has not only been progressive but also an example for the developing economies of the world. The healthcare system in India can be divided into two parts viz urban and rural areas and both have a significant differential gap in terms of treatment, not because of uncommon diseases but due to lack of adequate infrastructure and health experts, besides several other challenges in the system. However, the objective in this article is to bring out the challenges which the public and private healthcare systems are currently confronting with.

Fund Allocation & Inadequate Infra

The gap in fund management by the administrations should be understood and be balanced. Not enough funds are allocated for public healthcare in India and the inequality in urban and rural facilities is well known. Due to the lack of modern quality healthcare in the public sector, generally, people prefer private healthcare which is not affordable for most of the rural population due to lower-income and lack of basic insurance policy. Private healthcare in India is a premium and expensive affair for a large section of society. Notably expensive medical device is procured but basic infra is missing in public healthcare system.

All that has been lost in the pandemic

We are almost over with the second wave, but we humans as a community have lost so much to the pandemic. It almost feels like the silence after the storm, when all the buildings, trees have collapsed but you are standing there helpless, staring at the damage and destruction that has been caused by this storm named pandemic. We still haven’t recovered from the scars of the 2 waves of covid and there is another wave lurking around the corner, and who knows the devastation it may bring about, although I hope it does not cause any more loss.

The second wave saw deaths at a larger rate than the previous wave, there was not a single night where there was no sound of an ambulance wheezing to save a single life.

The sad part is that many of the people who their lives might have been healthy if not for covid, they might not have had any health complications but still lost their life. Young people, too, have lost their lives in this pandemic.

We will eventually come out of this pandemic but at what cost? For many of us, it won’t even matter if the pandemic ends, after losing loved ones. But this where we should try to understand that now, after losing a life which was so dear to you might feel like “does it matter now that the cases are coming down, that deaths are occurring less and less day by day?” But still, we must realize that there are many more lives that need to be kept safe. The pain of losing a dear one will not pass away easily and when your kids will be reading about the pandemic, in the future, in their books, that memory will come alive again.

Many other things have also been lost, many people have lost their jobs, they have not been able to feed their family and themselves. Many students who were looking for employment lost their chances due to this pandemic. We have lost our normal routines, it feels like a lifetime when we went out for dinners and movies, we now miss even a regular day at schools and colleges.

But the bottom line is, life will go on no matter what, people will eventually forget that you had lost someone during the pandemic, they will move on. You will have to deal with this yourself, and we cannot blame them because everybody has to get on with their lives, so take time your time, sit back and reflect. Let the grief enter your mind and heart, feel it completely, cry, and when you let it sink in completely, then maybe you will be able to detach yourself from that feeling, although you can never forget it, it may help you. This detachment theory was something I read in the book “Tuesdays with Morrie”. We all must hope that the third wave does not bring with it any more destruction or better it does not come at all.
