A UNIQUE FASHION ; for a Safe environment!

India consists a total population of 139.978 crore individuals and cloths being the most basic necessity of a person to recite on this planet is produced in hundreds and thousands of square metres regularly. Over this, Increasing modern and western culture in the country has boosted up the demands and production of these Industries at a huge percentage. Wishing to have a good appearance is a very usual part of human Psychology. For which, wearing good clothes plays an important role. Majorly, teenagers and youth are the ones’ who tend to follow the trends, look attractive, maintain their social status high which is often judged by how Fancy / cool / branded one’s clothes are and not only them but even elders are seemed to be changing and adapting these notions. Celebrities and fashion bloggers are currently one of the most influential people on social media. India is expected to have 34.33% share of youth in total population by 2020. Thus, clearly desire for fashion and numerous clothing apparels of each person is rapidly rising. In such case, Butobviously tones of material is used everyday and production process of anything is incomplete without Waste Discardation. Previously, population was less, needs were lesser and technology amd productions were limited. However, now with too much demand and availability of all the materials production processes have reached a high pace of resultant hazardous and non- biodegradable waste. Large manufacturers can also recycle these wastes up to a very limited extent only and most of the waste acts as a contribution to landfills which are tragically harmful for environment in present and for several upcoming years.

As per the Indian Textile journal – 2011, the study mentions that more than 1 million tonne textiles are disposed every year based on estimates, with most of this coming from household sources. But, as we have heard ” Where there’s a will, there’s a way”.

A DOOR TO SOLUTION.

Back in 2012, Kriti Tula after completing her Masters degree in design management from London College of Fashion, studied and analysed a lot over wastage created by fashion industry on a regular basis. She saw that a study cites that approximately 16.36% of fabric is wasted from the total material intake during the process of cutting, 6.37% of it is wasted in the stitching process and approximately .09% goes out in quality check. According to calculations last done in 2010, in an optimistic scenario, about 40 billion square meters of leftover fabrics and scraps are created every year.
“As a kid raised in the 90’s in India, upcycling was a deeply rooted tradition in most middle and upper-middle class families. Every garment was cherished and every piece lasted more than we hoped. We were simply not so wasteful and everything was less disposable as everyone had much lesser money to spend. It was a good time for earth.” – Kriti Tula, Co-Founder and Creative director Doodlage. So as to live a dream of doing something to sort these problems in a beautiful manner while, trying to return the Environment it’s happiness again, There she ended up finding the concept of producing and selling sustainable and up-cycled garments from the waste collected by other textile Or fashion industries, which gave a birth to her label “DOODLAGE” Settled in New Delhi, India

THE IDEA BEHIND.

The aim of Doodlage is to create a sustainable clothing brand, which is an initiative towards protecting the earth from non biodegradable fabric waste and simultaneously fits as per the choices of today’s generation. Each and every attire here is not just eco-friendly but is also very precisely designed and processed. Outfits are all made from scrap, used and leftover materials yet are absolutely stunning, comfortable, cool and highly fashionable in appearance. In 2016, Doodlage collection was also recognised by LAKME FASHION WEEK and they are present in over 40 stores in the country. Kriti got the idea while interning with mass producing brands and export houses. She said “After graduating from Pearl in 2010, I worked with a number of export houses and noticed a lot of fabric was getting wasted at every level of production – cutting, stitching and piece rejection. I knew that I wanted to work on something that already exists and supports a circular economy.” According to her, recycling or up- cycling the products and making the best use of them even if it’s from scrap is what can be called an essential part of lifestyle.

In addition to that, she says art is easy to replicate but doodles are not.
“Every doodle is one of a kind. Similarly every piece at Doodlage is one of a kind”.

The brand started at a time where nobody even understood the terms like ‘ethical fashion’. They believe, the reason for its sucess is the Good quality of products. The story doesn’t ends here ; Because the biggest motive of the label was to convert the left over fabric wastes of the industry or the other companies into usable apparels, they even came up with an idea to prevent the wastage of cut outs produced within processing of their own garments by shredding them to create new fabrics and use them as materials for making bags and furnishings. Team of Doodlage for sure is a great inspiration for fashion industry today and in future.

Third wave of covid-19 knocking at our doorstep

While mass vaccination drive is going on around the whole globe, news of emergence of Third wave of coronavirus have started to surface. WHO (world Health organisation) have also warned about the third wave in Europe. Cases recorded in this wave are of ‘Delta-variant’ of coronavirus.

Second wave of coronavirus caught us all off-guard and hit us hard and many lives were lost and there was a State of panic amongst us all for few months, due to this wave of coronavirus. After, passing of this second wave, people flocked the hill stations and flouted covid norms.
Even, in markets people are walking without masks and not taking necessary precautions.

Alarmed by this situation government of India have warned the citizens about this 3rd wave. Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Health Ministry, on Tuesday said that the third wave of Covid-19 may be caused due to the gross violation of covid appropriate behavior. He told that :

We would like to request to everyone- when we talk about the third wave (of COVID-19), we are taking it as a weather update and not understanding its seriousness and our responsibilities associated with it

Lav Agarwal (joint secretary, Health ministry, GOI)

According to union health ministry data on Tuesday there were 32,906 new cases of Covid-19 and 2020 related fatalities, which pushed the overall tally to 30,905,819 and the death toll to 410,784.

Markets are open and govt offices and school’s are running with 50% capacity, but the way in which common people are violating the covid-19 precaution guidelines, day is not far when we’ll have to pay for this type of behaviour. If situation remains like this, then the government in order to control the spread may impose lockdowns and come up with strict measures.

Hill Stations will be there,if we’ll be safe, then we can visit there later on. We need to learn from our mistakes commited during the second wave of pandemic and try not to repeat them this time.

Government is preparing on its behalf to face up with the inevitable third wave of pandemic. We all as a responsible citizen should adhere with the government guidelines and take precautions, then we can defeat this pandemic.

Effects Of Rape

In the aftermath of a rape, victims can face immensely difficult and painful emotions and experiences. Every victim responds to traumatic events in their own way. The effects of the trauma can be for a short while or can last long after the rape.

We all know that rape is a traumatic experience that affects the victim in a physical, psychological, and sociological way. Even though the effects and aftermath of rape differentiate among victims, they are tend to suffer from similar issues found within these three categories. Long term reactions may involve the development of coping mechanisms that will either benefit the victim, such as social support, or inhibit their recovery. Seeking support and professional resources may assist the victim in numerous ways.

Physical Effects:-

  • Gynecological Effects  experienced by the victims include; Vaginal or anal bleeding or infection, hypoactive sexual desire disorder, vaginitis or vaginal inflammation, dyspareunia – painful sexual intercourse, vaginismus – a condition affecting a woman’s ability to engage in any form of vaginal penetration, chronic pelvic pain, Urinary tract infections, pregnancy, HIV/AIDS.
  • Pregnancy is a potential result of rape. Rape can cause difficulties during and after pregnancy, with potential negative consequences for both the victim and a resulting child. Medical treatment following a rape includes testing for, preventing, and managing pregnancy. A woman who becomes pregnant after a rape may face a decision about whether to raise the child or to make an adoption plan or abort the child.
  • Sexually Transmitted Diseases(STDs) can affect both the victim and the rapist. While penetrative rape generally does not involve the use of a condom, in some cases a condom is used. The use of a condom significantly reduces the likelihood of pregnancy and disease transmission, both to the victim and the rapist. Rationales for condom use include: avoiding contracting infections or diseases (particularly HIV), especially in cases of rape of sex workers or in gang rape.

Psychological Effects:-

  • In the immediate effects the victim of rape may often have anxiety and fear directly following their attack.  According to a study on the reactions after rape, 96 percent of women said they were scared, shaking, or trembling a few hours after their attack. After more time is passed, the previous symptoms decreased while the levels of depression, exhaustion, and restlessness increased.
  • After an attack, rape survivors experience heightened anxiety and fear. According to Dean G. Kilpatrick, a distinguished psychologist, survivors of rape have high levels of anxiety and phobia-related anxiety. This includes and is not limited to the following; Feelings of dread, feeling nervous, feeling tense or uneasy, having panic attacks, having an irrational response to certain stimuli.
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is an effect which is very common among rape victims. The National Victim Center and the Crime Victim’s Research and Treatment Center released a report that found 31% of women who were raped develop PTSD at some point in their lives following their attack
  • Self-blame is among the most common of both short- and long-term effects .There are two main types of self-blame: behavioral self-blame (undeserved blame based on actions) and characterological self-blame (undeserved blame based on character). Survivors who experience behavioral self-blame feel that they should have done something differently, and therefore feel at fault. Survivors who experience characterological self-blame feel there is something inherently wrong with them which has caused them to deserve to be assaulted.
  • Suicide or the attempt of suicide is a common effect among rape victims. Survivors of rape are more likely to attempt or commit suicide. This effect remains, even after controlling for sex, age, education, symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and the presence of psychiatric disorders.

Sociological Effects:-

  • Rape is a stigmatizing in cultures with strong customs and taboos regarding sex and sexuality. For example, a rape victim (especially one who was previously a virgin) may be viewed by society as being “impure.” Victims in these cultures may suffer isolation, be disowned by friends and family, be prohibited from marrying, be divorced if already married, or even killed. This phenomenon is known as secondary victimization. While society targets secondary victimization mainly towards women, male victims can also feel shameful, or experience a loss of purity.
  • The term victim blaming refers to holding the victim of a crime to be responsible for that crime, either in whole or in part. In the context of rape, it refers to the attitude that certain victim behaviors (such as flirting or wearing sexually provocative clothing) may have encouraged the assault. This can cause the victim to believe the crime was indeed their fault. Rapists are known to use victim blaming as their primary psychological disconnect from their crime and in some cases it has led to their conviction.]Female rape victims receive more blame when they exhibit behavior which breaks the gender roles of society.

Bastille Day – Ode to French Glory

Toleration is the prerogative of humanity; we are all full of weaknesses and mistakes; let us reciprocally forgive ourselves. It is the first law of nature.”

-Voltaire

The Bastille Day is quite an unheard term in most of the parts of the world, unless you are a Francophone of course. The day commemorates the qualities of valour, unity and egalitarianism, which were on display when a huge crowd of people set off to destroy the gigantic prison, Bastille located in central Paris on 14th July, 1789. It symbolized the commencement of the French Revolution, against the existing Bourbon monarchy in mainland France.

The streets around France are usually flogged with cheerful families, enjoying leisurely activities. There is a beautiful spectacle at display at the Champs-Elysees, the epicentre of all celebration. The military parade, consisting of several reputed officers, show the strength of the armed forces, in a synchronised form. Similarly, a Bastille Day without a sense of firecrackers would be like having a meal without salt, so there are going to be several firecrackers display across Paris.

Wishing everyone a happy Bastille Day in advance. Joyeux jour de la Bastille

Sexual Harassment

When we hear the word Sexual Harassment what we picture in our mind a girl or a woman getting harassed by a man! But sexual harassment is not a narrow term which we can use only with respect to girls or women. It is a broader term which includes harassment on all the gender.

What is the meaning of Sexual harassment?

The word sexual harassment means any form of unwelcome sexual behavior which is offensive, humiliating and intimidating. According to EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) sexual harassment is defined as : Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature when

  • Submission to such conducts is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of individual’s employment,
  • Submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as a basis for employment decisions affecting such individual, or
  • Such conduct has the purpose os effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual’s work performance or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working environment.

Here, unwelcome does not mean “involuntary.” A victim may consent or agree to certain conduct and actively participate in it even though it is offensive and objectionable. Therefore, sexual conduct is unwelcome whenever the person subjected to it considers it unwelcome. Whether the person in fact welcomed a request for a date, sex-oriented comment, or joke depends on all the circumstances.    Source: Preventing Sexual Harassment (BNA Communications, Inc.) SDC IP .73 1992 manual

Types of Sexual Harassment

  1. Verbal or Written
  2. Non-verbal or Visual
  3. Physical

Verbal or Written

Here in the sense of sexual harassment verbal or written means saying, commenting, joking, or writing about someone in vulgar manner. We have often see on the road boys are shouting out to girls using words like doll, babe etc. Yes, this is also sexual harassing and that’s why it is called verbal. Following are some more examples:-

  • Referring someone using inappropriate or vulgar language.
  • Whistling at someone in an unwanted manner.
  • Making sexual comments on someone’s body
  • Making kissing sounds.
  • Repeatedly asking out someone who is not interested.
  • Spreading rumors about a person’s personal life.
  • Texting someone offensive joke.

Early these were very trivial matter on the roads and  now-a-days it can be widely and easily seen on social media.

Non-verbal or visual

Well, this is the most trivial and probably the hardest to spot because it’s most subjective and one have to put in the shoes of the other person. For example:-

  • Looking a person with elevator eyes (up & down).
  • Staring at someone.
  • Following someone.
  • Making sexual gestures with hands or trough body movements.
  • Making facial expressions such as winking, throwing kisses etc.

Physical

It seems that this is very easy to recognize but it is also too complex. Many time people get confused about physical touch. Here are some examples:-

  • Touching someone sexually around other people.
  • Hugging, kissing , stroking.
  • Actual or attempted rape.
  • Touching someone’s clothing, hair, or bodily assault.

Now-a-days sexual harassment is very common in workplaces and even in educational institutions. Cases about these things can be seen frequently. For example recently in Calicut University an Mphil student leveled sexual harassment charges against an assistant professor, Haris Kodampuzha from English department. As per complaint, he used to send sensual message to the student and for this he was suspended.

There are laws all over world which protects people from sexual harassment. In there is The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal ) Act, 2013that seeks to protect women from sexual harassment at their place of work. The Act came into force from 9 December 2013. In India, the legislations talk only about sexual harassment and rape of women. Then the question is who will protect men from harassments. There is no law to shield males from the bloodthirsty act of harassment and rape. Under Indian law, there is only one section 377 of Indian Penal Code which talks about “sodomy”. 377.  it is written that “Unnatural offences: Whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal, shall be punished with imprisonment for life, or with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.” Explanation: Penetration is sufficient to constitute the carnal intercourse necessary to the offence described in this section. Except this all other laws and sections are meant only for females.

While the sexual harassment of females has consistently declined in the past few years as government has made some very effective legislations in India. But sexual harassment of men is increasing day by day. Hence it is important to demand equal accesses  to justice for both males as well as females. For this the legislation of government has to make laws which protect the male from various kinds of harassments and assaults at different areas. There is also a need to educate and aware people especially children and students about sexual harassment. So if they suffer from any such act then they will be able to approach to any authority or any elder person rather than suffering.

STRUCTURE AND LAYERS OF ATMOSPHERE

The atmosphere is thick near the earth surface and thins out until it eventually merges with space. The five atmospheric layers are:
Troposphere
Stratosphere
Mesosphere
Thermosphere
Exosphere

TROPOSPHERE
The lowest layer of the atmosphere is the troposphere. The Greek word ‘tropos’ means ‘turn’ or change. The layer extends upto 8kms at the pole and upto 18kms at the Equator.

The temperature decreases with increasing height. Almost all weather phenomenon take place in this layer. Hence it is called weather making layer. The upper limit of the troposphere is called tropopause.

STRATOSPHERE
Stratosphere lies above the troposphere. It extends to a height of about 50km above Earth surface. Since this layer is a concentration of ozone molecules, it is also referred as ozonosphere.

The temperature increases with increase in height in this layer. Large jet planes normally fly here. The upper limit of the stratosphere is called as stratosphere.

MESOSPHERE
Mesosphere extends between 50km and 80km. The temperature decreases with increasing height.

Most of the meteors nearing the Earth, get burned here. The upper most limit of the mesosphere is the mesosphere.

THERMOSPHERE
Thermosphere exists above the mesosphere. It extends to about 600km. The composition of gases in the lower thermosphere is more or less uniform, hence it is called ‘Homosphere’. The upper portion of the thermosphere has uneven composition of gases and hence it is referred as ‘Heterosphere’.

Here the temperature increases with increasing height. Ionosphere is a layer of the thermosphere that contains Ions and free electrons. Radio waves transmitted from earth are reflected back to Earth from this layer.

EXOSPHERE
The uppermost layer of the atmosphere is called exosphere. This layer is extremely rarefied with gases and gradually merges with the outer space. This zone is characterized by aurora Australis and aurora borealis.

PLASTIC POLLUTION!

— A hazardous problem for our nation

Photo by Magda Ehlers on Pexels.com

I have realized that i’m living in a world ,where : rivers are filled with pollutants , air is filled up with toxic gases , soil is polluted with waste materials , and humans are habituated to turn a blind eye upon these by the name of technology and development, expect for some people.

The major factor of this pollution is plastic , Do you know : More than 99% of plastics are produced from chemicals derived from oil, natural gas and coal -all of which are non-renewable resources. only 9%of all plastic waste ever produced has been recycled , About 12% incinerated & the rest 79% used in land fills ,dumps etc,. so , please understand the seriousness of this and start using eco-friendly items.

plastic: the common factor for all pollutions.

Plastic waste is something which is not eco-friendly , non-renewable particles . Plastic pollution is nothing but a harmful accumulation of synthetic plastic production in the environment. Basically , plastic pollution is nothing but pollution caused by the plastic in different kinds of ways . Alot of plastic waste is dumped in the dumping areas not only causing the soil pollution but also making the land non-usable .

Photo by Tom Fisk on Pexels.com

-> This land can be used for the poor people from slum areas . India consists 2,216,533 of population who are living in slums . By decreasing the usage of plastic makes the land useful by providing the people to get a place to live.

-> Plastic waste also makes the land infertile and makes the land useful for farming which decreases the production of crops.

-> By dumping the plastic waste in oceans and rivers creates water pollution . It even causes a problem for the livelihood of marine animals . 100 million marine animals die each year from plastic waste in oceans. “This is only in the records , out of the records don’t even know”. and 100,000 marine animals die from getting entangled in plastic waste.

Photo by Yogendra Singh on Pexels.com

-> Coming to the water pollution , Chlorinated plastic can release harmful chemicals into the surrounding soil, which can then seep into groundwater or other surrounding water sources, and also the ecosystem. The long stay of plastic in water can stimulate the plastic and combine some of its nature into water which makes water unreliable to drink and use .

->By burning the plastic , the toxic gases get released causing air pollution . The chemicals which get released ,pollute the air and affect the surrounding areas by making the air un-breathable . The smoke which comes is so hazardous ,it remains in air for longer time and causing the damage for ozone layer : which is protecting us from the direct hit of sunlight . The direct hit of sunlight can shatter the livelihood of humans cause we cannot bare the heat it produces. Though there are many other initials where poisonous gases are producing which causes air pollution. one of the main cause is plastic.

summary

so , guys its high time . so many people changed their way about using plastic in their lives .We also need to change and make earth a better place to live . Lets struggle at first to enjoy the tang of better planet . Don’t you guys want to feel the smell of fresh air where pollution is not present anywhere ,see the stars where the sky can create mysteries with the insane nature it has . I hope one day we can see plastic free world.

Rath Yatra: The world famous Cart Festival

Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra, 12 July, 2021

Rath Yatra, also known as “Car Festival” or “Chariot Festival” is an annual festival which takes place in Puri, Odisha, a state in India. It is famous for being a crowd puller. Every year millions of people arrive in the city to take part in the festival.

This Hindu festival is associated with Lord Jagannath, a form of Lord Vishnu (not to be confused with avatar).

Every year Lord Jagannath visits his birthplace- Gundicha temple, via Mausi Maa temple (maternal aunt’s temple).

The festival is about Lord Jagannath, his brother Lord Balaram, sister Goddess Subhadra along with the eternal wheel Sudarshan Chakra journey and visits to his birthplace. It is a seven days’ visit and on the last day when he returns home, he stops for a short while at his maternal aunt’s home, the Mausi Maa temple.

Each of the deities has a chariot of its own.

Lord Jagannath

Lord Jagannath’s Chariot is the largest of all with 16 wheels and 4 white horses.  The name of the chariot is Nandighosha, also known as Garudadhwaja and Kapiladhwaja. The Chariot is also recognised by its red and yellow colour which are most commonly associated with Lord Vishnu among the Hindus. The guardian of the chariot is Garuda and the name of the charioteer is Daruka. The gatekeepers are Jaya and Vijaya. The Lord is accompanied by the deity Madanmohan. Among all the chariots Lord Jagannath’s chariot is the tallest since he’s the most powerful one even if he’s the middle one. The emblem of his flag is the Sudarshana Chakra.

Nandigosha Rath

Lord Balabhadra

Lord Balabhadra is the second most powerful among the three siblings, hence the second-largest chariot. His chariot has 14 wheels and 4 horses. His chariot is recognised by the red and bluish-green colour combination and black horses. The emblem of the flag on His chariot is a palm tree. The guardian of his chariot is Vasudev and the charioteer is Matali. The gatekeepers are Nanda and Sunanda. His chariot is called Taladhwaja, also known as Langaladhwaja. He is accompanied by Ramakrishna.

Taladhwaja Rath

Goddess Subhadra

Goddess Subhadra is the sister. Along with her brothers, she too travels to Lord Jagannath’s birthplace in her red and black chariot, black being associated with the Goddess. Her chariot, Darpadalana, also known as Devadalana or Padmadhwaja has 12 wheels and 4 red horses. Her guardian is Jayadurga and charioteer is Arjun. She is accompanied by the eternal wheel, Sudarshana. The eternal wheel travels with Her, on Her chariot for Her safety. Her gatekeepers are Ganga and Jamuna.

Darpadalana Rath

The Yatra (The Journey)

The Rath Yatra takes place starts from a specific place and follows a fixed path. The procession progresses down the Bada Danda, a 3km long road. The chariots are drawn by the many devotees who assemble on this holy day at the Bada Danda. The deities reach their destination, the Gundicha temple, before nightfall. They stay in their respective chariots for the entire night and enter the temple the next day. For the following 7 days, they stay there after which they come back. On the day the deities return many rituals like Suna Besha take place.

Once they return to their abode in Puri the Rath Yatra ends.

Everything revolves around robbing the bank with ‘THE PERFECT PLAN’ by mastermind being “The Professor” [Alvaro Morte]. There are some good looking and wonderful actors, Alvaro Morte[The Professor], Alba Flores[Nairobi]. My personal favourite is Tokyo[Ursula Corbero], the most volatile character in the show. She seems like she is going to ruin the whole plan at any moment but she has her own ideas to make show more thrilling. She keeps you high and glued to edge of yor seat. She has a great suspense coming in every minurte.

‘The Forest of Enchantments’ – A Sitayan

“Sita’s story haunted me. Because it was one of the first stories I was told, and because I sensed there was a disconnect between the truth of Sita and the way Indian popular culture thought of her. I sensed that Sita was more than what we took her to be. But who she was I didn’t yet know.”

Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni has made a well-written Author’s note right before the prologue to the novel begins. She tells us one big truth which is to a great extent a commonality among three-fourth of the world’s population who is familiar with the great epic ‘Ramayana’ – who real Sita is, is untold.

Despite Sita being considered as the incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi herself, she is often regarded as a meek woman who is an epitome of sacrifice and unending love, with no temper or hatred. The ‘ideal-woman concept’ idolizes Sita for she is considered the perfect wife with silent stoicism and the ability to long endure without whimpering. This is of course a prominent reason why many name their daughters ‘Sita’ and asks them to look up to the goddess to learn subservience, sacrifice and ‘perfection’. Sita is indeed to be idolized but not in a way most people perceive.

‘The Forest of Enchantments’ is brilliantly feministic in writing. It retells Ramayana through Sita’s eyes, making us analyse the story through a gynocentric perspective. Thus, it indubitably makes Ramayan a ‘Sitayan’.  The author sets to bring out the version of Sita nobody knows, a Sita who is much more than a mere daughter, a loyal wife and a loving mother, a Sita who is a woman, an equal to Ram, one who refuses to give her dignity away even for love. Chitra Banarjee also tries to sympathize with some of the other female characters of Ramayana, who we consider evil, flawed or obnoxious, through Sita. We see Sita musing about whether Shurpanaka had deserved to get mutilated by Ram just for declaring her love for him. Similarly Sita chats with Ahalya asking her a question that most of us would’ve asked if gotten an opportunity to meet Ahalya in real- ‘why did she forgive Gautam?’. Sita is left answerless by Ahalya but it is quiet clear from her countenance that it is what women are supposed to do, forgive and endure.  Sita herself had to go through a similar situation, when Ram refused to accept her, doubting her chastity after Ravan abducted her, she performed the agni-pareeksha and the gods itself declared her innocence. Sita got the answer as to why Ahalya forgave her husband when she found herself forgiving Ram inspite of how cruel he had been to her. The author draws a picture of how women are taught to endure and forgive when men are never blamed for their actions. She also points out how love can be blinding. Ram’s consecutive injustices to Sita like abandoning her while she’s pregnant and making her do fire test is often celebrated by people as the spirit of kingship and the duty of a husband but ‘The Forest of Enchantments’ questions Ram on how he’s going to pay for his actions. The epilogue to the novel is heart-wrenching, especially for the female audience, for it shows how extreme a woman can get insulted, how her dignity is at stake and her indecisiveness whether to choose love or self-respect. Sita lets go the love of her life and chooses to be dignified and decides not to settle for anything less.

Chitra Banerjee’s ‘Sita’ is what every woman should be. Loving, caring yet resilient and dignified. The author walks us through every little detail on ‘How to be a Sita’, not the stoic one but the strong one. The book is indeed a must-read if you are ever asked to be like Sita.

Being your Authentic self

What is Authenticity? Authenticity means being real with your emotions and letting go of role playing. e.g. son, daughter, mother, father, etc.
How to be authentic? Be more real in your outer world. Think of a child, how Child's behaves and why they are so innocent, pure and charismatic. Because they don't have any sense of ego. Behind every positive sense and negative sense of self is ego .

       "Any conceptual sense of self
                             is ego"

Being authentic makes you egoless to all things and this will bring quality in your life because you are no longer worried about the outcome (pain and happiness).

Being authentic changes your inner and outer world as you will no longer going to tolerate fake people in your life and you will be more fearless. You will be speaking your mind.

"Being authentic means wearing your crown even in rainy season"
