The rituals for the most celebrated and the world-famous Rath Yatra have started. The Pahandi ritual (procession) has also begun. The chariots of the Lords Jagannath and Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra will be pulled only by the selective servitors and police officials.
The rituals for the world-famous Rath Yatra have started with Mangal Aarati followed by Mailam, Tadaplagi, Rosha hom, Aabakasha and Surya puja. The Pahandi ritual has also begun. The siblings Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra will board the chariots at the Singha Dwara facing towards the Gundicha Temple by 10 in the morning. The Chherapahara ritual will be held at 11.30 a.m. The chariots will be pulled thereafter around 12 noon.
After the Supreme court’s decision in favour of Rath Yatra, the District Administration has imposed a curfew in Puri for the Yatra. The public has been requested not to enter any part of the district during this period. Around fifty platoons of police have been deployed. Only selective servitors and police officials will be allowed to pull the chariots of the Lords. Moreover, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has made a special appeal to the people of Puri to observe COVID guidelines and keep themselves and their families safe.
These are the secrets from an amazing book called “How to Make people like you in 90 seconds or less” by Nicholas Booth Man. Likable people are always open, welcoming and friendly in nature and you can notice their sincerity, trust, and self-confidence in their behavior as well, and you can develop all these qualities in yourself by meeting other people in a regular manner. If other people do not find you interesting in first 90 seconds after meeting you, then they would want to get rid of you as soon as possible.
If you want that people like you more, then you have to invest your efforts from the very beginning, and this starts even before you speak a single word from your mouth. Any new person notices three basic things just after meeting you, these three things are your
Body language
Your eyes
Expression on your face
Thus, it is essential that when you meet anyone, these three elements give the feeling of openness to other people. For doing this, you will have to show your interest in them, along with your body, you will have to move your brain as well toward them. This effort will show your sincerity and commitment and openness in the conversation and in them as well after this, you need to see directly in the eyes of other people, this establishes the trust and as soon as you make an eye contact with other person make sure you give a genuine smile to them before they think or assume anything else about you. Let your positive attitude shine with a broad and genuine smile with this simple action, other people will consider you as a genuine, open and sincere person with this simple effort, you already made a warm and welcoming mood for the situation, and now you need to initiate by introducing yourself. You can do that with a standard greeting, like Hi or hello and you must need to do that in a very pleasant tone. Along with that make sure you share your first name to the other person and it will encourage the other person to introduce themselves for example, you can say,….”Hello, I am Akash”. When you say this, then the other person will also share his or her name with you, and as soon as they share their name, you must need to repeat their name like wise you said… “Hello, I am Sahil” you got response… “Hi, I am Sohil” now you have to say, “Sohil, Nice to meet your Sohil.” In his famous book, “How to win friends and influence people,” Dale Carnage shared the fact that the name of any individual is the sweetest sound in the entire world for that person that is why it is essential that you repeat other person’s name in the conversation as much as possible. This method will increase your acceptance and respect, it will also make it easier for your to memorize their name. And finally, you have to lean forward slightly. Just a little leaning would be enough, just like Mr. Obama is slightly leaning forward in this photo.
With your slight inclination, other people will assume you are showing interested in them, and you are listening to them carefully, also, it will give you a pleasant appearance. Just look at photo and tell who is looking more generous in both of them. Of course, it is Mr. Obama, because he is using this principle.
Studies proved that people hire those people that are similar to them and even most of the time they date people with similar people because they make them feel safe and comfortable. If you try to pay attention, you will find, you enjoy the company of those people who think like you, who behave like you and those who make you feel comfortable. You can be comfortable for them just by synching your voice with their voice. The synching of voice is a very powerful tool in communication skills for this, you need to speak at the same pace as other people are speaking that means if they talk slow, then you should not run fast and second thing, you shall try to use the same tone similar to them. If they are calm and relaxed, and you will speak loudly or with excitement, then it won’t work well for you. You need to use same volume and you need to relax while talking. With this, other people will think you are like them and they will feel more comfortable while talking to you.
In 1979, Dr. Lisa Berkman did a study on 7000 people, and this study lasted for 9 years with this study, she found that people that do not have more social connections or those who do not meet other people, they get ill more often, and it increased their chances of earlier death as well and who meet other people more often, were likely to live longer. So, go and expand your social circle without having any fear, without any complications.
As we all know that Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. After Mercury, it’s the second smallest planet in the Solar System.
Let us take a look at some more interesting facts about the planet Mars.
Reddish Appearance
Mars is called the ‘ Red planet ‘ because it appears in the sky as an orangish – red star. This appearance is because the rocks and the dust of the planet are rich in iron and minerals that cover its surface. Hence, the planet appears reddish in colour.
However, neither did Mars always have the red appearance nor it was an arid desert as it is today. Evidence say that many years ago liquid water flowed in streams and rivers across the surface of planet. Mars even had oceans.
Composition
Mars is also known as the terrestrial planet as it is primarily made up of rocks and metals and has a hard surface on which we can stand on.
Dust storms
The largest dust storms in the entire Solar System occur on Mars. They sometimes last for months and cover the planet in a swirling red dust cloud completely.
Ice caps
The two polar ice caps on Mars appear to be largely made up of water.
Atmosphere
Mars has a thin atmosphere that consists mostly of carbon dioxide, argon, nitrogen and very little oxygen and water vapour. We can’t breathe on Mars.
Existence of Water
Due to its thin atmosphere, liquid water can not exist on the surface of Mars except at the lowest elevations for a very short period of time as it will evaporate very quickly.
Seasons
The seasons on Mars is caused by its axial tilt. The hemisphere that is tilted closer to the sun experiences spring and summer and the hemisphere that is titled away experiences fall and winter. At two specific moments each year known as a Equinox, both the hemisphere receive equal illumination.
Mountain
Mars has the tallest mountain of the Solar System. Olympus Mins is a volcano with a height of 27km which is 18km higher than the Everest.
Visibility from Earth
Mars is one of the five plantes which are visible from Earth and can be observed with naked eyes. It is because of its reddish colour and brightness in the sky.
Moons
Mars has two moons namely Phobos and Deimos, which mean fear and threat. These names come from the twin Gods who accompanied Mars and Ares into battle.
Phobos and Deimos are small and have an irregular shape. Phobos is roughly 22km in diameter while Deimos is 12km. They are thought to be asteroids captured by Mars as gravitational pull.
Survival
The German Aerospace center discovered that the lichens that are found on earth can survive in the conditions of the Mars.
Mars and Earth
Around 6 Mars planets could fit inside the earth.
Mars is about 15% of the earth’s volume yet it’s only 11% of earth’s mass. It’s smaller than the earth and also less dense.
Even though Mars is smaller than Earth, it has almost the same amount of land as around 2/3rd of the planet earth is made up of water i.e. oceans.
As the size of Mars is smaller than that of the Earth, the gravity on Mars is a bit less than 40% than the gravity on earth.
The surface of Mars has marks on it. It is because the planet Mars is situated close to the asteroid belt. As a result, it has higher chances of being striked by space rocks which leave behind too many craters. In comparison, Earth is very noticeably cratered because the potential crater makers have to pass through the thick atmosphere. Even if any crater enters the earth, they land in the oceans.
The temperature on Mars is more variable than its on earth. The average surface temperature of Mars is roughly -81°F.
The sun appears about half the size from Mars than that from the earth.
Since Mars has no atmosphere, the colour of the sunrise and sunset on Mars appears blue instead of orange and red like Earth.
A day on Mars is of 24 hours and 40 minutes which is slightly longer than the earth which has 24 hours in a day.
Mars takes 687 earth days to complete it’s one orbit around the sun while Earth takes 365 days to complete it’s one orbit. This means that one year on Mars is 88% longer than that on Earth.
Mars has an axial tilt for about 25° which is very close the Earth’s axial tilt which is 23.5°.
Mars lacks a magnetic field as it does not possess molten metal core like Earth. However, scientists believe that the planet did have a magnetic field many many years ago.
According to NASA a round trip from Earth to Mars will take around two and a half years.
Scientific studies suggest that Mars was once like Earth. Its gravity captured several satellites that later crashed into Mars causing the core to cool down and stop spinning.
There are currently 7 Robots roaming in the plains of Mars.
On the 24th of September 2014, the Indian Space research organisation (ISRO), to Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM or Mangalyaan), space probe entered its orbit of Mars. By doing so, India became the first nation on Earth to set the spacecraft into Mars orbit in the firstattempt.
These are some interesting things about the planet Mars that everyone should know and will enjoy reading.
A powerful suspense drama 13 mins Hindi short film Devi directed by Priyanka Banerjee, endorses the concept of femininity. ‘Devi’ is a Sanskrit word that means ‘Goddess’. The short film “Devi” unites some women who are coming from different backgrounds but a victim of the same kinds of situations like sexual assault, rape, domestic violence, and so on. This short film is confined in a room but the use of camera and script didn’t let the audience feel monotonous. With the help of close shots, the expression of the characters has become so vividly exposed that the movie reached another dimension. There is a clean play with time, the continuous cut gives an engaging effect to the audience during the conversation of the characters. There are characters like urban alcoholic ( Shruti Hasan), English speaking city dweller (Neha Dhupia), Urban clad lady, a mute girl, there is a medical practitioner girl, housewives, primitive ladies and more. But among them, Kajol is a very calm and silent yet fierce figure who is the pivot of family. The character is god worshipping and it produces a motherly figure and women omnipotence. The scene fades in with a girl slapping on the television to start it. Then by wide shot, the camera covers the different activities of others present in the room. Then with some shots, we get a glimpse of other activities to get some ideas about the other characters. We come to know about the characters when a debate starts on coming to a new member of the family. Everyone disagrees stating their problem to adjust. As the situation escalates, a quarrel starts between Marathi the old lady, and Neha Dhupia. Ultimately Kajol as the avatar of the goddess convinced them to let the new member referring their helpless situation when they came into the house. Kajol is doing a task like glue to take the victims in the same room. Ultimately when the new member comes in, it breaks the heart of everyone, even the audiences. It was a little girl of maybe 5 or 6 years. The camera takes a shot from the back of the girl revealing half of the girl’s body. The little girl goes and hugs the old Marathi lady. At this moment another news of the rape of a little girl on the television takes every characters’ attention, they look at the television with tearing eyes. The scene fades out. In this egalitarian world and an era of women empowerment, the safety of women’s physical and mental dignity remains a paradox. The movie doesn’t reveal the face of the little girl probably not to specify one girl because in every minute a girl like her is being victimized. So the little girl is the representation of each girl in the country. We can see the evil representation of the society where irrespective of age, class, status, women are being victimized. This is a film, portraying how the women are fighting to survive to bear the brutal stab of the society. The film also gives a message of positivism that if one door closes the other opens. God saves the best for everyone. Here in the film, Kajol plays a character of the avatar of goodness who rescues everyone’s life. I think everyone should watch this movie to have an idea of how social vultures are continuously chasing to win over. Moreover, it also learns problems can’t be bigger than one’s life. If a little adjustment can save one’s life then it’s far more peaceful than mundane some comforts. It will leave everyone thinking if not me then who?
Majority of the people look back at their past relationships with regret and many say they are “unlucky in love”. The fact is that whether you find love with one person who lasts a lifetime or find it with 15 other people who were short term, it means you’re lucky in love! The problem arises when you expect a relationship to last forever, especially in today’s day and age where there are so many changing dynamics and you’re surrounded by so much opportunity and so many choices. Lots of people look at the “good old days” when marriages lasted a lifetime as exemplary, completely ignoring the fact that if many of them lasted a lifetime, it was not for positive reasons. Back then, the woman was not allowed to return to her marital home once she left. Being a divorcee was a stigma and almost always meant being an outcast and seen as “threatening” to other marriages. There was also the aspect that women were brought up to see marriage as a final destination and lacked education and the ability to earn and support themselves outside of marriage. So, they had to take whatever came their way, be it abuse, dowry demands, infidelity, lack of rights, and being treated like a slave by the family she was married into. Child brides and couples who were married off the moment they were of marriageable age never had the opportunity to find love or even look for it. They were bound by family decisions and had to live with it for a lifetime whether they liked it or not. The nature of relationships has changed dramatically in just one lifetime, and it’s incredible to see the amount of opportunity and resources available to find a compatible life partner. There is an acceptance of pre-marital sex and to be able to move on if things don’t work out. Experiencing multiple relationships doesn’t mean you’re unlucky. It means it felt right and was right for that period of time, and that you’re lucky to be able to move on from a relationship that was headed downhill. Thank it for what it did bring into your life instead of regretting it. Yes, sometimes the nature of love evolves and lasts a lifetime, but love is not a commitment for a forever, marriage is. And marriage can be a way to force someone to stay with you, but it isn’t a way to force someone to stay in love with you.
Some thoughts and their answers.
I have had a history of bad relationships. I want to break this cycle but I simply don’t know how to. Can I do it by myself or should I approach a mental health expert? I have been trying to understand why I keep making the same mistakes. time I promise myself a better future but it ends in heartache. Please guide me. ( Question by a Girl)
Please define “bad relationship”. If you feel that the people chosen weren’t right for you, ask whether they were right for that period of time and if you let them in, what void exists that they were filling. If what you want is sex and some happy times, realise it and go for it. If what you want is love, enjoy it while it exists. If you want a long term it’s about compatibility, so focus on getting to know the person and not to jump into relationships. If there is a pattern of physical abuse then it’s mostly connected with self-worth and allowing yourself to be punished and for that, it’s best to meet with a good therapist or hypnotherapist to sort out inner child issues. (The Answer)
I am in my late 20s, and wondering about whether arranged marriage as a concept is still relevant in today’s times. My parents want me to meet potential suitors, but I have my reservations about arranged marriages and the way you are rushed into things that you may not necessarily be prepared for. I don’t mind meeting people, but I don’t want to be rushed into things. How do I meet people without the sword of marriage hanging on my head? (The Question)
Whether it’s meeting someone in your orbit, finding someone on the internet, or having your parents find someone for you, the rule remains the same: Ensure you have multiple areas of compatibility and things you like to do together to keep a strong bond. Most importantly, focus on what you both don’t like and what is not acceptable as those become thorns that tear the fabric of respectful togetherness apart. Tell your parents, you’re happy to meet people but will settle down only when you feel it’s the right fit for a long haul. (The Answer)
I am a 45-year-old single woman and have been working at the same organisation since the past 20 years. I feel like I am stuck in a rut, but I also don’t have the guts to leave and look for better opportunities. I don’t know whether I should continue or take a leap of faith and quit. Please help. (The Question)
Sounds like a dead marriage. Except, in a marriage, looking for options is considered cheating, but in work, it’s acceptable for sourcing a better future. 45 is not an age to resist change, go out there… put out your applications, and follow your gut instincts when they accept as to whether it’s the right fit for you. Perhaps you can take a one month holiday and use that time to work at another company to check out the work dynamics at a new place. It might excite you to leave, or alternatively make you aware of how wonderfully comfortable you are with your current job. Both ways, a win-win eye-opener. (The answer)
Gigi and Zayn fit perfectly into each other and are the extension of greatest “couple goals” of all times. America’s sweetheart and glam doll, Gigi Hadid seems to be every man’s dream girl. But the model had seemed to hold on tight to pop-star and every girl’s heartbeat Zayn Malik for five years straight.
While there is no kept secret that the duo shares an inevitable bond, their unparalleled PDA beams brightly through the transparent walls, and it says it all! And after the much-needed quarantine-surprise, Gigi’s pregnancy tale seems like another fairy tale, the big news has managed to replace a month-year-old frown with an exciting grin. Both snuggled into each other’s private space, happy in their own little world.
Nevertheless, the pregnancy rumors added a little sheen to the Victoria Secret model’s life and there is no doubt about that. And with the latest pictures of Gigi doing the rounds, she looks flushed with happiness than ever before.
There are some reasons why Gigi Hadid is entitled to become Zayn Malik’s “best girlfriend” in the entire world.
The protective tool
Against all odds, Gigi manages to bring out of her high-glam avatar and puts her foot down against all her BF’s uninvited troubles. The 25-year-old model has broken all boundaries to prove her love for Zayn several times. She has stood thick and thin beside him like a rod.
When a string of ‘infidelity’ rumors surrounded the couple, that’s when Gigi came into the picture, and framed defensive statements, proving her bitter-sweet protective nature towards Zayn unbeatable.
Strong fam bond
There is no doubt that Gigi Hadid had been accepted by Malik’s family with open arms, she is often seen strengthening the family bond, leaving us all overjoyed and awed.
A-lister supportive partner
Gigi is unlike the rest! she passionately supports Zayn Malik’s successful and steaming music career and once starred in one of his music videos. The couple had also collaborated for a high-octane song together which was applauded by their fans. In the music video, they both were seen sharing intimate scenes inviting critics to put a thumbs down to one of their most awaited collabs of all times.
Zayn’s mouth piece
Though the “Pillowtalk” singer is shy to express his opinions openly to the world, Gigi had been seen speaking on behalf of him on several occasions. This does not mean that Zayn is spineless, he might follow the rules obediently
Everyone present on this earth is here for a reason and purpose. As soon as that purpose is accomplished the person has to leave earth and shift to their heavenly abode.
That’s what life is like, each human being present on this earth plays an important role in someone’s life. Their role can be a main lead role, a side role or cameo role in someone’s life but there is a role that you have to play regardless of your choice.
There are some things which you can’t choose or control like you were born without your choice and you will die without your choice, you didn’t choose your parents, you didn’t choose the conditions in which you were born in and you didn’t choose the situations and people that come in your way, but all these things happen because they are meant to be happen you can’t make any alternation in them. The only thing in which you can make some alteration is your perspective toward things happening in your life because that’s the only thing which is in your authority.
The people who died in 2020 because of COVID-19, accidents, suicides etc . There purpose of being on earth fulfilled and they left for another life. I am in no way saying that they deserve this. No not at all they didn’t deserve this, they should have got the opportunity to live and enjoy their life to the fullest but they didn’t got why because god has other plans for them. They served their purpose, the death of people due to COVID-19 has forced the mankind to think how deadly human ignorance towards earth can be. It’s an alarming bell for humans that we should treat earth more delicately and cautiously otherwise we will face more pandemic like this in future and will once again lose our loved ones to our ignorance.
People dying due to suicide are forcing people to change their perspective towards mental health, it is wake up call for us which should be picked up because it is the need of the hour, it should be given utmost importance and changes in our behaviour towards others is also mandatory to stop more people from falling prey to suicide.
The role of leaders in this pandemic is forcing the masses to reconsider their choices of leaders. Their callous attitude towards public is a warning that we have chosen a wrong leader who in no way can understand and handle the problems of people.
All things happen in a person’s life according to God’s plan. It’s all because of his decisions, you achieve, you lose, you cry, you laugh but one thing that’s in your control is your reaction to every situation.
Life is always like that you don’t know what’s going to happen the very next moment, you don’t know whom you are going to meet and whom you are going to lose in the next hour. It’s a mystery and always will be.
They would be a pleasant sight to behold and the tiny creatures could bring a smile on one’s face, especially in the morning when one can spot them floating around in the balcony or courtyard and they would add beauty to a monotonous site, these petite birds are truly mesmerising to the eyes. They fill us with joy and can fill our hearts with happiness. But one can definitely notice their sudden disappearance in many areas. There are many reasons behind it.
(All About Birds)
Rise in greenhouse gases-
The rise in greenhouse gases has caused an increase in pollution which is one of the main causes for the disappearance. Sparrows cannot live in a disturbing environment as it affects their lives, infertility problems and also their health.
Noise pollution-
The rise in noise pollution de the increase in vehicular traffic or even machinery from industries contributes to their decrease in urban regions. Sparrows are sensitive to loud noises and hence like living in calm atmospheres with minimal noises which they can bear.
Infrastructure and Industrialization-
Rise in Infrastructure is one of the other problems as they won’t be able to build nests, even though they are social creatures they will only be able to build nests in trees, with modern infrastructure taking over their lives are hindered, they prefer open spaces unlike pigeons who can live a luxurious life even in apartment complexes.
Declining rate of greenery (trees)-
The declining rates of greenery specifically trees and tree felling is also one of the causes behind the decline in the rate of sparrows in urban areas, trees are an essential component in any sparrow’s life, as they build their nests on them and also live in them, tress can also become one of the sources to find food for themselves and without lush greenery it’s impossible for them to survive.
Chemical Components-
Increase in chemical products like use of pesticides and fertilizers can really irritate them and hence they can displace off to new places which are more home friendly, modernization has shown its effects along with many other factors in displacing sparrows away from urban sprawls. Sparrows are nature friendly creatures and can’t adapt themselves to the modern changes of society.
(Imedpub)(BTO)
City life is continuously changing and for sparrows who love the best of both worlds that is a bit of wild nature along with the frenzy of the urban life cannot sustain in urban areas.
Most of us are under the impression that these species have become endangered and might be soon wiped out but according to the survey analysis certain ornithologists have concluded that’s not the case, these species have found a new place and they have displaced themselves to village areas, forests and lush green zones.
On the other hand there are many ornithologists who have concluded that their population has declined by 52% and hence they are being threatened by the changes in our surroundings. This instance of the house sparrow is a a good example of the effect which our ever changing environment has on us.
Pranks, they have been a staple in every strata of the society from a long time. The only difference being that the pranks of the so called “nobility” or the upper class tend to showcase their superiority and upper classmanship, while that of lower and middle class was viewed as “uncouth”. Usually pranks are often viewed as a fun filled frolic or by some as meddlesome and tiring, but one such prank brought forth many upsides. However, pranks no matter who plays, tend to be short lived, however today we talk about one such prank that went not for a decade or a century but rather played out till a whopping 400 years. This takes place when the Crusaders had started gaining momentum in Europe.
In 1165, a certain letter had started circulating throughout the western Europe. To view it now, we can clearly infer that it was a hoax, however people at that time believed it to be true. The letter spoke of a realm filled with mystical features, such as the Tower of Babel, The fountain of youth, with mystical weapons and animals within their arsenal. It mentioned that the mysterious and fabled land was ruled by the letter’s mysterious author: Prester John. This prank or hoax brought about an age of exploration, inspired an intercontinental diplomatic relation and rather sadly brought forth an civil war. This letter came forth during a time Europe Crusaders were trying to find Christian allies to serve in their war against the practitioners of “blasphemous” religions, mainly the Muslims and the Jews. They were fascinated by an army that had defeated a vast Muslim army in the far east. They were referring to the Mongol warriors that consisted of some converted Christians. However like all news spread by the means of words and stories, it spread unreliably and by the time it reached Europe, the story had changed the Mongol horde to a great Christian army full of soldiers with strength of biblical proportions, with a enigmatic ruler leading them with similar goals as the crusaders of marching to Jerusalem. This was the time the forged hoax of a letter reached the hands of the crusaders and despite its obvious European origin the appeal was too great for the crusaders to ignore. Thus, began a search for the mystical realm in the east that Prester john ruled. Soon they even reached Africa in search for Prester John’s ancestors. This was the time that Portuguese reached Ethiopia and found about a Christian kingdom, and with a mix of confusion and diplomacy the Portuguese thought they had encountered the fabled kingdom of Prester John. This happened nearly 350 years after the letter had instigated the search. A decade later when the sultanate of Adal attacked Ethiopia the Portuguese came as help, and soon realized that they weren’t the fabled kingdom they had pegged them to be. Worse still the increasingly intolerant roman catholic church had deemed the sect of Christianity found in Ethiopia as heresy. This sparked a civil war between the “ideal” Christians and the “Ethiopian” Christians and in the 1630s Ethiopia cut all ties with Europe. Over the next two centuries the legend of John’s kingdom faded to oblivion.
Thus, ends the tale of the medieval version of modern click-bait.
Libya is a country in the Maghreb region in north Africa, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea. It is the fourth largest country in Africa and sixteenth largest in the world. Libya became an independent Kingdom in 1951 and was ruled by king Idris I who was overthrown by a military coup in 1969 and the ‘bloodless’ coup leader Muammar Gaddafi ruled the country from 1969 until the 2011 Libyan civil war in which he was killed.
A brief history ofslavery
Slavery can be traced back to many of the world’s oldest societies, from the “emergence of civilization” in Mesopotamia to ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, as well as the Mayan and Aztec empires. Male prisoners of war and seized sailors became laborers; prerogative women became concubines and domestic servants; children were used as farm hands or to help around the house. The Arab slave trade flourished on the African continent.
The corridor from Africa’s most populous country to its northern Mediterranean shores has proved especially remunerative. As conflict, climate change and lack of opportunity push increasing numbers of people across borders.
A video of men in Libya being sold off for as little as $400 at an auction shocked the world and brought the much needed attention at the plight of migrants and refugees in the north African country.
The slave trade of Libya
Libya is the main conveyance point for refugees and migrants trying to reach Europe through sea. According to International organization for migration, almost 150,000 people have made this dangerous journey across the sea of which 3000 people could not make it through . The Libyan Coast Guard, supported with funds from the UN and Italy cracked down on boats smuggling refugees and migrants to Europe. With estimated 1 million people stuck in Libya, the detention centres are flooded and have ascending reports of rape, robbery and murder. The conditions in concentration camps are horrendous and make refugees vulnerable to being sold off as laborers in slave auctions.
How is Libya handling the crisis?
The U.N.backed Libyan government has launched a formal investigation into the allegations. But Libya is largely considered a failed state. Since Muammar Gaddafi, who ran the country for four decades, was ousted in 2011, the country has descended into civil war. A transitional government failed to implement rule of law in the country, which has shattered into several factions of militias, tribes, and gangs. In lawless Libya, many see the slave trade and smuggling as a lucrative industry and tackling the country’s humanitarian crisis will require international support.
Slavery may seem like a relic of history but according to the U.N.’s International Labor Organization, there are more than three times as many people in forced serfdom today. What the ILO calls “the new slavery” takes in 25 million people in debt bondage and 15 million in forced marriage. As an illegitimate industry, it is one of the world’s most remunerative, earning criminal networks $150 billion a year, just behind drug smuggling and weapons trafficking. Modern slavery is far and way more profitable now than at any point in human history.
The trade might be most noticeable in Libya, where aid organizations and journalists have documented actual slave auctions. But now it is seeping into southern Europe too—in particular Italy, where vulnerable migrants are being forced to toil unpaid in the fields picking tomatoes, olives and citrus fruits and peddled into prostitution rings.
How many slaves are there today, and who are they?
The word “slavery” summons images of shackles and transatlantic ships – depictions that seem relegated firmly to the past but more people are enslaved today than at any other time in history. Experts have calculated that roughly 13 million people were captured and sold as slaves between the 15th and 19th centuries; today, an estimated 40.3 million people are living in some form of modern slavery, according to the latest figures published by the UN’s International Labor Organization (ILO).Women and girls comprise 71% of all modern slavery victims. Children make up 25% and account for 10 million of all the slaves worldwide.
Where is this happening?
Statistically, modern slavery is most ubiquitous in Africa, followed by Asia and the Pacific, according to the Global Slavery Index, which publishes country-by-country rankings on modern slavery figures and government responses to tackle the issues.
What’s the difference between slavery and human trafficking?
Human trafficking is just one way of subjugating someone. Whereas centuries ago it was common for a slave trader to simply buy another human being and “own” that person as their property (which does still happen), today the practice is largely more insidious.
Trafficking involves the recruitment, transfer or obtaining of an individual through coercion, abduction, fraud or force to exploit them. That exploitation can range from forced labor to forced marriage or commercial sex work – and the exploiter can be anyone, including strangers, neighbors or family members. Most people are trafficked within their own countries, although they can also be trafficked abroad; most often the individual is trafficked into forced labor.
Strategy for resistance
What’s needed is to address the root causes. Poverty alone does not explain slavery. Roughly 700 million people meet the threshold of extreme poverty, the number of slaves is estimated to be 40 million. What distinguishes these 40 million from the other 700 million very poor? Slavery usually occurs when poverty is compounded by specific risk factors. These include an inability to assert basic human rights, lack of access to essential social and economic services (especially schools, health care and credit),the failure of the rule of law and, an absence of services for slavery survivors that leads to re-enslavement.
Libya is considered a failed state. After Gaddafi, the country has been in shambles due to the civil war and hence in lawless Libya, but what is really disheartening is that there are broken people with stories of barbarity and abuse, hoping to find a way out of it, waiting for help but unaware of the reality that there are too little people who care, too little ears to hear their stories and too little hands guided their way for help.
By understanding the behaviors that underlie trust, leaders are better able to elevate the level of trust that others feel toward them. Here are the three elements.
Positive Relationships. Trust is in part based on the extent to which a leader is able to create positive relationships with other people and groups. To instill trust a leader must:
Stay in touch on the issues and concerns of others.
Balance results with concern for others.
Generate cooperation between others.
Resolve conflict with others.
Give honest feedback in a helpful way.
Good Judgement/Expertise. Another factor in whether people trust a leader is the extent to which a leader is well-informed and knowledgeable. They must understand the technical aspects of the work as well as have a depth of experience. This means:
They use good judgement when making decisions.
Others trust their ideas and opinions.
Others seek after their opinions.
Their knowledge and expertise make an important contribution to achieving results.
Can anticipate and respond quickly to problems.
Consistency. The final element of trust is the extent to which leaders walk their talk and do what they say they will do. People rate a leader high in trust if they:
Are a role model and set a good example.
Walk the talk.
Honor commitments and keep promises.
Follow through on commitments.
Are willing to go above and beyond what needs to be done.

“A laugh is a smile that bursts.” – American writer, Mary H. Waldrip
Laughter is a core part of our everyday life. It is impossible to worry while laughing. Humor helps us cope, conquer, and carry on. It has been called social glue because it bonds us to the people we laugh with. It strengthens our relationships by triggering positive feelings and fostering emotional connection. Laughter also unites people during difficult times. Incorporating more humor and play into your daily interactions can improve the quality of your relationships as well as your connections with co-workers, family members, and friends. It brings the focus away from negative emotions, making us more cheerful and putting ourselves in a positive frame of mind.
Laughter isn’t just fun and enjoyable, it’s good for our health. It relieves stress, pain, and conflict, lightens your burdens, inspires hopes, connects you to others, and keeps you grounded, focused, and alert. It provides a physical and emotional release. Laughter boosts the immune system and decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving our resistance to diseases. Other health benefits of laughter include lowering our blood pressure, increase the oxygen supply level in our blood hence giving us more energy, helps to burns calories , improves the function of blood vessels , increase the endorphin activity in our body resulting in a sense of well being and relaxes the whole body.
Many people find that maintaining a sense of humor is useful for a good quality of life and makes us capable of finding delight, experiencing joy, and releasing tension. The ability to laugh easily and frequently is a tremendous resource for surmounting problems, enhancing your relationships, and supporting both physical and emotional health. When we laugh we are more socially attractive. People enjoy being with those who laugh easily and often. When we laugh with one another, a positive bond is created which acts as a strong buffer against stress, disagreements, setbacks and disappointment. Shared laughter is one of the most effective tools for keeping relationships fresh and exciting and also an effective way to heal resentments, indifference and sadness.
A good laugh is not only the result of humor, it is often also the cause. Laughter helps us forget judgments, criticisms, and doubts. Release inhibitions and fear of holding back and holding on should be set aside. Deeply felt emotions are allowed to rise to the surface. Use humor to neutralize conflict in your relationships. Learn to cultivate an atmosphere of humor and laughter in your relationships as happy people laugh a lot together and laughter is considered to be one of the most effective tools to judge the quality of any relationship. The body heals with play, the mind heals with laughter and the spirit heals with joy. All emotional sharing builds strong and lasting relationship bonds, but laughter and play also adds joy, strength, and contentment.
Everyone needs to incorporate humor into their life. It can be infectious and make others smile and feel happier. Hence lets make it our motto “to live better is to laugh more” .
..so as a part of a a content writing project, we were told to write a blog piece on something which gravely impacted my life now when it comes to realizations I’m kind of poor at realizing things at the correct point of time.so this realization struck my dumb head today although if it actually were to happen it should have happened around two years ago cause that’s when I had watched this movie.
SPOILER ALERT
.well, I’m talking about this movie called before I fall Before I Fall is a 2017 American teen drama a film directed by Ry Russo-Young and written by Maria Maggenti, based on the 2010 novel of the same name by Lauren Oliver. The film stars Zoey Deutch, Halston Sage, Logan Miller, Kian Lawley, Jennifer Beals, Diego Boneta and Elena Kampouris.

Maybe for you, there is a tomorrow. Maybe for you, there are 10000 1000 or 3000 tomorrows. so much time you can bathe in it so much time you can waste in it but for some of us there is only today and what you do today matters in the moment or into infinity and I didn’t know any of it until I fell . The thing is you don’t know any of it or you don’t wake up with a bad feeling in your stomach or neither do you see shadows move. If you are like me you wake up 2 minutes 47 seconds before your best friend is supposed to be picking you up. If you are like me you last day starts like this. – Samantha. you know it often happens that when we watch a movie or a Netflix series or read a piece or a book the way that book or that above piece is written we either start getting attached or start relating to a certain character or say the protagonist itself in here the protagonist Samantha wakes up in a sudden shudder the next day after a life-taking accident. now she keeps reliving the same day the cupid day she goes to school receives the same roses go to the same party gets in trouble with the same girl that they call a sociopath and the same suicide of the same girl Julian in front of their truck the same accident that Samantha wakes up to every day on three consecutive days she relives the same day but she tries to live it in a different way like the first day she relives that day she couldn’t help much though the next day she changes her outfits and tries living in a different way possible on the third the day the final day she tries and mends the ways she tries to be happy spends time with her little sister her family and her friends goes to the same party gain though this time she talks to Julianne (sociopath) and tries to mend her ways by saving her from killing herself though the twist is Samantha dies in that accident itself. like this movie gravely affected my life after seeing this movie for a couple of days I had technically questioned my existence and on a rewind, I had seen my life whether should I mend my ways or simply lead on to that I had found that I wasn’t doing much of a worse to anyone. well till a couple of more days I would compare my days from the previous ones if I had been repeating something in the entire day or to be specific I was looking for some unnoticed deja vu. well to this I realised in all of my activities I was just looking for some acceptance and some epiphany of my family started growing on me. to be very honest in the movie as well the character Samantha was leading her life in the gloom until she technically realised that she was doing wrong to people. she was dating rob just because he was the most popular guy in college and not good love.the character Lindsy was looking just for acceptance cause she had put the name on Julianne when peed her pants in the sleeping bag just because her parents were going through a divorce. and Julianne she just shut down from the world cause neither did she have any acceptance not to mention nor any friends and on top of everything she was treated in a very ill manner.so before yours mine and our life take a stop and create deja vu on us we gotta mend our ways and be ideal human beings . after all you don’t know if you once will wake up to a shudder to relive the same day .
