“Flower of Evil” – A Crime thriller Drama which is Cathartic too!

In general, it is observed that Thriller Genres are often very intense and have a serious environment in their background. But taking this particular drama, Flower of evil has broken the wall of the thriller genre and added the essence of Melodrama in it. The perfect blend of Emotions, thrill, suspense, elements of relationships, love story and nostalgia, and a little action make this drama a perfect 10/10 to watch.

As we can see that the ratings are 5.0 with lots of positive feedback, as this drama has certainly gotten a place in the heart of many drama lovers.

Amazing Plot structure:

Many times we see that though the storyline is fascinating the plot structure spoils the whole sequence of the story and makes the whole drama boring. Although this is not in the case of Flower of Evil, as the plot structure is incredible due to the excellent chemistry between Baek Hee Sung ( performed by Lee Joon Gi ) and Cha Ji won ( performed by Moon Chae Won ).

The plot becomes more interesting as it contains lots of twists and turns and make the viewers in a state of awe as every minute of the plot is important to watch or else one can miss the important key of the story.

Brief Synopsis of the Drama:

The storyline is about a man who has an anti-social disorder and changes his identity and lived as Mr. Baek Hee Sung who is the Husband of Ms. Cha Ji Won who is an Intelligent Detective. This lovely couple lived a beautiful life until Ms. Cha started to doubt his husband as the murder suspect of the sudden serial killings around their area.

Mr. Baek was a perfect father and Husband but lived a fake life by hiding his cruel past in which he lost his father ( Do Min – Seok) because of his father, Mr. Do was falsely known as the son of a serial killer.

But due to her wife, Ms. Cha, who cherished love in his life and made him a different person. She even investigated the 20-year-old case and brought justice to his husband by making him innocent in the case.

Flashback and Glimpse of Nostalgia – A Key Element

This drama always shows a series of Flashbacks at the beginning of every episode of the love story and the past life of the couple which is very touching. These Flashbacks make the audience aware of the background of the character development.

The characters are often living with the feeling of nostalgia as for some the nostalgia is sweet whereas for some it’s their dark past that is unforgettable.

These flashbacks also raise many queries in the minds of the audience who is the real killer? as all the characters are suspicious in their behavior which makes the audience blown out when they found out the real murderer!

Flower of Evil – An Alluring Title

When the scriptwriter ( Yoo Jung Hee ) of this Drama was interviewed she mentioned the unique quality of the title which is mesmerizing and also the key center of the whole drama.

“Flower of Evil”, has been taken from Charles Baudelaire’s “Book of poetry” called – “Les Fleurs du mal” ( The Flowers of Evil in English ). His poems were about the chaos and anxiety that arises when societal values, which should be clear-cut and black-and-white, become ambiguous and borderline.

Both couples are a symbol of the Flower of evil, as Baek Hee Sung is a character which cannot be considered good or evil rather he is like a flower of evil which is neither black nor red it is colorless, like the personality which the protagonist had.

Baek Hee Sung changed his personality from Do Hyun Soo to escape from the tragedy that happened to him in his past and to save her sister ( Do Hae Soo) who was the real culprit of the murder which happened 20 years ago in his life. Mr. Do had an Anti-social disorder due to which he didn’t feel any emotions, but due to her wife, he finally felt every emotion as he was accepted by her wife the way he was.

On the other hand, Ms. Cha Ji won is also considered as the Flower of Evil as she overcomes all the barriers which she had between herself and her husband and loved him eternally, transparently without judging his past life.

Symbol of the Metal shop – “Where the Rising Star stays”

The story behind the title of the Metal shop is moving for the audience when they watch this drama. The Metal Shop was the place where Mr. Baek was the Metal crafter and named his shop “Where the Rising Star stays” as the title denotes the story of Greek and Roman mythology, where there was a god of a blacksmith named Hephaestus who had a terrible anger issue, he had a wife whom he cherished very much and was named “Venus” in English and was known as “Morning star” which was nicknamed as “Rising star” which was relatable to the situation of Mr. Baek who cherished her wife very much.

Similar to Hephaestus, Mr. Baek had a personality that was not liked by anyone and that was the reason for him being anxious towards the judgmental society.

This drama kept the audience in a sense of emotional attachment as many incidents were sentimental. The ending is quite satisfying as all the characters were justified according to their will and their dreams.

To find your real self: Major Element of the drama

This drama also provides a moral message of finding your true self which sometimes hides due to certain circumstances created by life and in the end, the person goes back to their real self and wins all the obstacles made in my life.

Mr. Baek is one of them who proved that he was not a psychopath with fewer emotions rather he had the grief of not meeting her mother and hiding her sister’s murder and running from his real self.

This drama is a perfect bunch of all emotions and makes the story worth watching by the drama freaks!

“When Everyone else was becoming a demon, Only Hyun – so remained a Human Being”

Is education too commercialized nowadays?

Generally speaking, the level at which education is converted from services to businesses nowadays is a growing concern for society. Education can only be deduced to be way too commercialized by considering the pons and cons of its commercialization. Of course, education is way too much commercialized nowadays. Higher institutions nowadays see imparting knowledge as a means for economic ends(returns). Before further discussions, let’s take a glance at what “education” and “commercialization” are.

What is Education?

Education is the process of imparting, receiving or acquiring knowledge, skills, or ideas either formally or informally.

<

p style=”text-align: left”> What is Commercialization?

Commercialization in ordinary parlance simply means the application of the business methodology in any activity with an expectation of economic return. Commercialization of education refers to when an act of imparting, learning, and acquiring knowledge is perceived as a way of creating an enterprise to attain economic ends or returns(profit).

Naturally, education should be seen as a way of disseminating knowledge that will constitute job creation rather than to be seen as a mechanism for procuring a better standard of living by acquiring economic return. The commercialization of education has a serious effect that is so vague that it goes on undetected and one of its worrying aspects is that the interest of youths and the kind of education that brings out their full capability and potential is sidelined. Also, the global commercialization strategy of higher education has resulted in the creation of serious competition between the fruit-bearing capacities of education as opposed to its light-bearing quality. This adds to the notion that students are consumers of service for a very specific apparent purpose which is to gain access to a well-paying job hence, attain a high standard of living.

Furthermore, knowledge should be imparted to those who find it based on free will to promote the level of education in society rather than being used as a way of exploiting students by commercializing education to earn an economic return as it is done nowadays. Also, the fact that institutions and students both lives in a commercialized world nowadays makes every degree of teachings and learning no matter how small it is, valued based only on monetary terms instead of being valued on psychology term. That is the level of understanding.

Government should intervene by taking into consideration things that are yet to be done presently rather than doing things that have been laid hands on already thereby correcting the deficiencies of anomalies. They should carefully plan, improve financing and establish an empowering policy structure to make higher education equitable, accessible, and qualitative hence, redefining the role of the state in higher education.

The main reasons for the commercialization of education:-

1. Increasing population
Due to the increasing population in our country, the government is failing to accommodate the education of such a large number of people. This has led to the setting up of various private institutions.

2.The Mindest of People
It is the most common misconception among people is that good education is costly so most of them often prefer private schools and colleges over the government.
3.Better Facilities
The private institutes provide better facilities than the government institutes.

To conclude I would say education is also often portrayed as the method through which an individual can achieve success. Hence, there has been a rise in the demand for proper education. Because of this reason and a number of other reasons, education has started to become more commercialized. There are a number of ways through which education is commercialized these days. And some of those methods include setting up private schools, universities, coaching centers, and learning centers.

Greeting is Important

Conversation skills are very important and each conversation starts with a greeting. These greetings are mostly verbal. People exchange greetings everyday regardless of culture, age, gender and country. But in a situation, choosing a better greeting will show your improved communication skill and helps to have a good impression.

A greeting is a simple way of saying hello to someone. If two people of the same community are greeting each other, the process will be easy compared to people from different backgrounds greeting each other. Greeting a person means you are initiating a conversation with the person and It is important to be able to select the appropriate greeting for the situation. English language has different ways of greeting people. But greetings can be broadly classified in two sections of formal and informal greeting.

formal greeting

As we know, formal greetings are used in a formal conversation like in a business meeting or meeting a important person. These are also used while addressing the audience of formal functions like conferences. We use some of the formal greetings everyday. Good morning/afternoon/evening are used so frequently. These work as replacement for the word Hello. How do you do? is a old greeting but used in very formal situations. How are you doing? is the another form of the greeting. How is it going?, Good to see you, Its an honor to meet you are some of the other formal greetings.

informal greeting

This type has more number of greetings than the former type for obvious reasons because people have more informal conversations than formal ones. And also people face informal situations everyday. Hi, the word which is kind of informal version of the word Hello, widely used by everyone. We here this word very frequently. Hiya is the another form of the word Hi, mostly used in UK. Hey is another greeting which I feel is very upbeat. sup? is more commonly used in USA, which is the slang term for the word what’s up. Yo is the word mostly used because of its light heart feel. How’s life? is the informal way of asking how are you?. Howdy and how is everything? are also in the category.

How glorious a greeting the sun gives the mountains!

-John Muir
why should i greet?

Why should I greet? Can`t I start a conversation without greeting? well, you can. But that will be weird. Just randomly starting conversations from nowhere will introduce confusions. To create a friendly environment you should choose a good greeting. It is a fact that greeting is also a gentleman and ladies gesture. A greeting can turn a stranger into a friend. And greeting also help to maintain relations. If a person refuses to greet the other, for some reason we all know that they are not in good terms. Greeting is a part of courtesy. It will help to show that you respect the person. When you greet someone you are acknowledging their presence and this will make the other person feel good.

Not for all other reasons, just greet to be good person!

Do Love always give pain?

Everyone says that love hurts. Indeed , this saying is true. Loneliness hurts, rejection is a pain and losing someone is truly depressing.
In reality though, love is the only thing that could cover up all these suffering and make us feel whole again, but you’re scared to love again because you think it is going to hurt as you associate love with pain.

Marxist reading of Franz Kafka’s A Hunger Artist

Franz Kafka, novelist and short story writer, is known for his often absurd, puzzling and parable-like writing style. Often described as kafkaesque, his writings leave readers on a never ending quest for underlying meanings that he might have intended to convey. In his short story A Hunger Artist, he leaves similar suggestions, that points to a broader picture of the unjust world he tries to portray through his novels. With the protagonist starving himself to earn a living and to believe that his suffering is an art that he is conditioned to do, stands as a silent validation to the socialist society that demarcates duties and lifestyles and pushes mankind to the two extremes of a spectrum. Marxist literary theory, a conflict theory that states that there exists a constant conflict in the society, between its two layers, the bourgeoisie and the proletariats or between the rich and the poor. This will be the perfect lens that we can adopt inorder to analyse Kafka’s work.

The story revolves around the central character, the hunger artist; a typical representative of the proletarians, starves himself inside a cage so as to entertain his spectators. This enclosed act wherein the protagonist confines himself in a cage and voluntarily starves himself under the authority of an impresario projects the image of a capitalist superpower exerting power, and the working class falling prey to the authoritative superior. The hunger artist sees his life as a performance that he is addicted to, he starves himself for his act. The extreme nature of the act shows how a particular strata of the society is forced to engage in gruesome tasks so as to sustain oneself. This portrays a typical capitalist society that makes the rich richer and the poor poorer. The rich exert their power over the working class, only with exploitative outcomes in mind. They reduce the workers into hands that mend money and get their work done. This causes a kind of alienation in such workers. This can be seen when the impresario, treats the hunger artist well on the fortieth day where he is forced to end his fast, the impresario has realized that after forty days the crowd starts to lose interest on the fasting muse, hence he takes away the artists right to fast even when he wishes to do so. Here we see how the artist fails to realise that the goal of his act is only to amaze the spectators which in turn make the impresario rich, he fails to realise this destiny of his act and only concentrates on the brief part he has to play in the big process of earning money for the impresario. The hunger artist, once his profession is no longer trendy, is left with no other work option; another striking feature of capitalism that makes the workers de-skilled leaving them incapable of doing anything other than the small part that they are conditioned to do. This small part that they do mechanically diminishes their status in the work chain, which eventually happens to the artist as well. When moved to a new working environment of the circus, with no profound change in the revenue he was creating, the artist is once again lost. He is forgotten and is later on discovered in a haystack minutes before he dies.

Here the cage that he is enclosed in constantly, can be seen as the capitalist box of entertainment, it confines the struggles and hardships of the working class and projects it as an entertainment for the bourgeoisie. It also shows the clear demarcation between the two classes existent in the society. The hunger artist stands as the metaphor for the struggling proletarians and the story is the most realistic portrayal of the existing class wars.

Which Trading is Better?

Want to trade? Stuck choosing between online and offline? You have come the right way. We are here to help you through your decision for trading online or offline. First, you should know the basics of trading. Then we will guide you through some points stating differences between online and offline trading.

Before the age of the internet, trading was carried out by stockbrokers. They dealt with the work of buying and selling equities on behalf of their clients. But the internet made this process a lot easier and faster. Today, both online and offline share trading is prevalent around the world.

To understand more clearly, let us tell you something about Forex trading.

What is Forex Trading?

Forex trading or better known as foreign exchange trading is multipurpose trading carried out around the world. It can be explained as a network of various types of buyers and sellers willing to transfer currency between each other at an agreed price.

Forex trading or any other type of trading can be carried out by individuals, organizations, companies, and central banks. They convert currency into one another and transfer the same. The amount of currency they convert daily causes price movements across many countries around the globe.

Now let’s see some differences between online and offline trading.

Differences between online and offline trading

 1. Ease of trade

Online trading is usually done individually and the person makes all the transactions for himself without any guidance. Also, online trading can be done with any device provided by the internet. Here all you need is the internet so it is less expensive.

Whereas in offline trading all the transactions are carried out by the broker. And the individual has to approach the broker and contact him by going to his office. This also makes offline trading more expensive.

 1. Convenience

Convenience is the most important factor to be considered when doing absolutely anything. Similarly, online or offline trading services should be selected based on the convenience of the individual.

Lack of the internet can be a problem for those who prefer online trading. But if you have a mobile and full-time internet then your best option is online trading. But for people who prefer regular guidance, should go for offline trading.

 1. Security

In terms of security, online trading is much more secure than offline trading as in online mode, the individual has complete control over the transactions to be made.

In offline trading, the transactions are in the hands of the broker. They carry out the transactions on behalf of the client without any knowledge.

Another advantage of online trading is that the traders can check their tax, brokerage, and other statements. But in offline trading, the broker can easily manipulate the trader.

 1. Real-time information

While trading, the trader needs to keep track of the real-time information. So again online trading has the ball in its court. It is a huge benefit of online trading that all the real-time information is displayed on the trader’s screen. He can have access to updates on any crashes in the stock market.

Whereas in the case of offline trading, the trader can’t keep track regularly as the market keeps updating every second.

 1. Trading fees

In online trading, the client executes the trade themselves so there is no need for middlemen. This reduces the trading fees to almost negligible in online mode.

Whereas in offline trading there is more than one person involved in the process which increases the trading fees significantly.

 1. Guidance

Guidance is necessary during trading. So in online trading, the trader can surf the internet for various expert comments and suggestions.

Whereas in the side of offline trading, the trader has no other option but to depend on the broker’s word for everything.

 1. Platform

It is a huge advantage of online trading that it has all the things under one umbrella. The trader can find everything on a single platform. No need to search here and there. Plus, the broker houses make sure they upload all the necessary things on their site.

Whereas in offline trading, the trader needs to do independent research about everything, before asking the broker to trade.

 1. Quality of service

In online trading, the trader can access detailed reports of trends in the market and can have all information regarding stocks and orders.

Whereas in offline trading, the trader should trust the broker for all information.

 1. Flexibility

With online trading, getting the order at the right time has become easier. All broker houses provide a trading platform like their website or app. There the trader can execute buying and selling of orders and make transactions.

Whereas in offline trading, the trader needs to go to the broker’s office or carry out the trade on call. This is tiresome and inconvenient to almost everyone nowadays because of the busy schedule.

 1. Fraud

Online trading provides the trader with full control over their trades and transactions.

But in offline trading, clients have to take the broker on his word. This sometimes leads to mistakes and cases of fraud.

Now you can easily start trading without depending on anyone for information and all the necessary transactions. Clearly, online trading won the battle online Vs offline. Hope you make the right choice. Happy trading!

Evils of Dowry

Women for sale?

Dowry system is a great evil that afflicts India. Even after seventy three years of independence and freedom, the evil and menace of dowry system prevails and the parents of a bride are forced to give money, jewellery, costly articles etc in dowry to the bridegroom and his family. It has become very difficult to find a suitable match for a girl without payment of huge dowry. The parents of well educated and highly placed boys demand large amount of dowry both in cash and in kind. Brides are burned alive, tortured, harassed and abused to bring more and more money. In many cases a girl commits suicide to escape this devil of dowry.

Dowry is a crime against women and humanity and severe punishment should be meted out to all those who indulge in it. It is an extreme example of greed, selfishness, degeneration and social sin. It is an old, dead, useless and rotten system that should be done away with in one go. It reduces the status of women and girls to that of commodities which can be easily bought and sold. It is a great curse especially for poor parents. They have to borrow, beg or indulge in corrupt practices to have huge amount of money to arrange dowry for their daughters. That is why people feel sad, unhappy, miserable and unfortunate at the birth of a baby girl. That is why many baby girls are killed before or soon after their birth.

Such a social evil on such a vast scale is to be found nowhere else. It is a matter of great national shame and social decadence in this age. This immoral and vile custom has turned us all into an object of ridicule in the eyes of all other civilised nations of the world. People use double speak and double standards. They often condemn dowry in public in no uncertain terms but in practice and private life they demand dowry, arrange marriages purely on the basis of dowry. In ancient days it might have been relevant to some extent as the girls did not inherit property or were confined to the hearth and home. Therefore, to compensate this loss, a girl was given several gifts in cash and kinds by her parents, relatives and well wishers in dowry. These gifts ensured a sort of security to the newly married girls. New women have equal rights. Now giving and receiving dowry has no relevance, no meaning and sense.

Now, it is a cognizable offence under the Dowry Prohibition Act under which if any person who gives or takes dowry is punishable with imprisonment which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to five thousand rupees, or with both. Now, apart from the parents and relatives of the bride, the police and the registered social organisations can also lodge a complaint against the party demanding dowry. Moreover, there is no time limit for lodging such complaints. But laws are not enough. They are being violated blatantly and with impunity. There are over seventeen dowry deaths every day in the country and yet very few offenders are caught and punished. Besides these legislative measures, we need other meaningful and effective social measures. All out efforts need to be made to generate an effective public opinion against the evil. More and more heads of panchayats, priests, social groups, women organisations, leaders, elders etc should be involved in the agitation against dowry. The movement should be taken to villages and far flung areas of the country. Social boycott of those indulging in the evil custom can work as an effective deterrent. Group and mass marriages can also be a very useful in this respect. More and more girls should be made to enter schools. They should be trained to stand on their feet. They should be made aware of their social, family and conjugal rights and privileges. They should never feel weak, helpless, inferior or incapable. They should revolt and expose such antisocial elements who demand dowry. They should refuse to marry when dowry is demanded or given. They should wage a relentless war against all sorts of discriminations and unjust male domination.

Three new deaths in a row in Kerala; all three tortured for dowry. Link below:-

SAVE ENVIRONMENT

The natural environment and conditions in which humans live are referred to as the environment. Regrettably, this environment is under great danger. Human actions are mostly to blame for this issue. These human actions have undoubtedly wreaked havoc on the natural world. Most importantly, the survival of all living creatures on Earth is jeopardized by this destruction. As a result, environmental protection is critical.

The environment is made up of the air we breathe, the soil we live on, the trees that provide us with oxygen, and other flora and animals on the planet. Without such a hospitable atmosphere, survival on the planet would have been impossible. However, we have observed a continuous degradation in the quality of the environment around us as a result of the recent boom in urbanization.

“Save the environment” should be a top priority for everyone today. The term “environment” refers to the complete environment, which includes water, air, sunlight, plants, animals, and other elements that provide favourable conditions for development and growth.

Ways of Saving Environment:

First and foremost, tremendous emphasis should be paid to tree planting. A tree is, above all, a source of oxygen. Unfortunately, numerous trees have been felled as a result of building. This will undoubtedly reduce the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere. The more trees that are planted, the more oxygen is produced. As a result, planting more trees will improve the quality of life.

People must also pay attention to forest conservation. Forests are extremely important to the environment. Deforestation, on the other hand, diminishes the size of forests all over the world. Forest conservation efforts must be launched by the government. Forest destruction must be made a criminal act by the government.

Another key aspect of environmental protection is soil conservation. Landslides, floods, and soil erosion must all be controlled to accomplish this. Afforestation and tree planting should also be included in the soil conservation plan. Other options include terrace farming and the use of natural fertilizers.

Environmental protection through Waste Management is a significant tool. Waste disposal must be done properly. Above all, this would aid in maintaining the health of the environment. The government must ensure that the streets and other polluting land areas are cleaned regularly. In addition, every home should have a toilet. The government must also supply sufficient public restrooms.

The greatest threat to the environment is most likely pollution. Air pollution is caused by smoke, dust, and hazardous substances. Industry and cars are the primary sources of air pollution. Chemicals and pesticides also pollute the environment and the water supply.

The Advantages of Environmental Conservation:

To begin with, the global climate will stay normal. Global warming has been caused by environmental damage and pollution. Many people and animals have died as a result of this. As a result, preserving the environment will help to prevent global warming. People’s health would improve. Many people’s health is deteriorating as a result of pollution and deforestation. People’s health would undoubtedly benefit from environmental conservation. Most importantly, preserving the environment will minimize the prevalence of numerous diseases.

Animals would undoubtedly be protected if the environment was preserved. Many species will not go extinct as a result of environmental preservation. Many endangered species would likewise see a rise in their numbers. The level of the water would rise. Groundwater levels have been substantially lowered as a result of environmental damage. Furthermore, pure drinking water is in short supply throughout the world. Many people became ill and died as a result of this. Saving the environment would undoubtedly prevent such issues.

Next Destination: Space

If you are bored from drives, lakes, beaches, resorts, mountains, deserts, valleys, trenches and even underwater sea-diving and have shit ton of money in store, this article is for you. And even you don’t have that kind of money, then hang on. Hopefully, there will be cheaper space-crafts for us as well very soon. And, you would have probably guessed by now. I am talking about this new adventure sport, recently launched in market, very very recently. Last week, Richard Benson, a British Businessman in his ship virgin galactic, made a quick visit to space and another famous businessman, Jeff Bezos is ‘all set to launch’ today. They are opening what we call space-tourism for the wealthy mass of the world.

Photo by Mikhail Nilov on Pexels.com

Space-tourism, as the name itself explains, refers to humans travelling to space for

 • amusement
 • diversion
 • enjoyment
 • fun
 • hobby
 • show-off
 • spending money

what-ever your reason might be, thereby making space accessible to all us non-astronauts who are clearly not interested in space for any scientific purposes, thank you very much. This isn’t the first time a space tourist has visited space. In the year 2001, US millionaire Dennis Tito PAID US $ 20 Million to travel via the Russian Soyuz spacecraft thereby visiting the international space station and even ended up spending 8 days there. There were 7 more people until 2009, before the Russian company closed off this private sale of tickets. And so, now if it makes you think about this ‘amidst nowhere’ proposals or this private floating marriage or even spending your weekend up there, it might someday be your dream come true. Just hang on there for a while, or year, or a decade, maybe.

Till now, Space Adventures was the only private company sending private customers to space. Now, there are 3 more participants in this ‘Race to the Space’- all set to explore this new venturing tourism domain with its high profits and the intense thrill that comes with it- both for the tourists as well as organizers.

 1. Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic- Started in 2004, its a reusable space plane and can fly off into sub-orbital space. It uses VSS unity space-plane lifted using VSM Eve- a large carrier aircraft. A single ticket is estimated to be priced at between $300,000 and $400,000 and offers a 2.5 hours flight with 6 min of weightlessness. The space-ship was separated 45 minutes into the flight. It can carry 6 passengers- 2 crew-persons and 4 customers.
 2. Jeff Bezos’s blue origin- Founded in 2000, it works towards vertical take-off into the sub-orbital space as well as vertical landing. It aims for an 11 minute flight after separation and a few minutes of weightlessness. It shows you the curvature of earth before returning. Blue origin flight can take up-to 6 passengers. Unlike other companies, Blue Origin works at providing holidays at affordable rates. So, look out for this one. it might very well plan your next holiday.
 3. Elon Musk’s SpaceX-This company was formed in 2002. Its dragon capsule uses a reusable Falcon rocket to launch itself into space. It is capable of carrying up-to 7 people. The mission is expected to last 3-4 days.

Space tourism has a very high significance in the near future. Seeing the number of millionaires and billionaires across the world, the market is estimated to comprise nearly 2.4 million people in the near future and is a boost to the world economy. And who knows, maybe space tourism might even help us to expand life throughout the space and find us a new place to live in this infinite space. But whatever it may do in this regard, it is bound to increase our interest in space exploration and we might as well make an engineer or a scientist out of it or a wonderful sci-fi and maybe the next world-hit movie. Success of this industry will bring in investments that will lead to development of more advanced technologies in the future. And if we are unable to find somewhere to live, we might end up making one for ourselves. Who knows?

With this rosy picture, painted in our minds, we need to loo at the harms it offers to not only us but the already degraded-due-to-human-activity- “EARTH”. The soot or black carbon that is emitted by rockets gets accumulated in the stratosphere and cannot be washed away by rains and wind and hence, will stay in this region of the atmosphere for years thereby causing serious damage as well as causing elements to escape the earth’s recycling process. After a particular height when we escape the earth’s atmosphere or in the region where the atmosphere thins we are exposed to harmful radiations and solar flares. Also travelling via a space craft can affect our vision, cognition, balance and motor control. The industry has just begun. It might lack the necessary safety equipment or might avoid them in the absence of safety protocols.

The space is a dangerous area we are willing to venture. Before further developments in this field, we need to ask ourselves if space is even meant for humans? Or if we haven’t done enough damage to nature and our surroundings as it is? Is it all worth the harms it offers? Can we do without it? And if we can’t, isn’t it better to leave it to those experts who might extract a lot more than just fun out of it?

What is Web Hosting? It's Features, Types! Web Server

WEB HOSTING

Have you ever heard of the term ‘Web Hosting’? Well, I am 99% sure that you heard of the term ‘Hosting’. Web Hosting is different from Hosting. Hosting a show, Webinar, etc. is different from Web Hosting. In Web Hosting, there is no host. As the term suggests, Web Hosting is somewhere related to the Web. So, many of you guess that the term ‘web’ is also included in the keyword ‘Webinar’, then how is it different from it? You are guessing wrong. Let me clarify to you.

Web Hosting is an online service that permits you to host or publish your website, store, etc. on a specific Web Server. The website which you are reading currently is also somewhere hosted on the planet. When you buy a Web Hosting, the hosting provider rents you some space on the server or rents you the full server according to your requirements & budget, where you can store all your crucial files & data of your website.

What Exactly is a Server?

WEB SERVER

A server is a computer that is responsible for the communication of the web user’s browsers to your site from anywhere on the planet.
When the client’s computer requests website data from the server, it delivers the website data such as text, images, videos & website data (like HTML, Databases, etc.). The web server communicates with the web browser using the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). The Web Hosting provider is responsible for the maintenance & uptime of the server.
But don’t you think that there is an address of the website, through which the user connects to the server. Yes, there is an address of your website, which is labelled as Domain. Ex- https://google.com , https://www.edupediapublications.org , etc. If you don’t host your website on a domain, then your website address is in the form of an IP address. The user has to enter the IP address in the browser to connect to your website. The IP address is hard to remember, that’s why we used the domain as a website address.
If you don’t know much about Domains, then you can read our other articles –

What are the basic features included in Web Hosting?

1. DISK SPACE –

A disk space, which is also known as web space, refers to the amount of space aligned by the Web Hosting provider to the buyer. The buyer can store all website data such as code, images, videos, & other files related to the website. Web space is generally scaled in MegaByte (MB) & GigaByte (GB).

2. BANDWIDTH OR DATA TRANSFER –

BANDWIDTH OR DATA TRANSFER

Many of us believe that the term Bandwidth & Data Transfer are the same entity, but they are different. Bandwidth is the amount of data that can be transferred at a time. While on the other hand, Data Transfer is the actual amount of data transferred at a particular time. While purchasing a Web Hosting plan, you should make sure that your website size & the amount of monthly visitors you have is completely reliable with the plan.

3. FTP ACCESS –

FTP (FILE TRANSFER PROTOCOL)

FTP, also known as File Transfer Protocol is used to transfer your website data from your computer to the server. It is also used for downloading your website files from the server to your computer. It can also be used for manually backing up your website to your computer.

4. E-MAIL ACCOUNTS –

EMAIL ADDRESS

It is the common feature of Web Hosting. It allows you to create a branded email address according to your domain. You can also send emails through various methods, i.e. POP & IMAP.

Types of Web Hosting?

There are many types of Web Hosting –
 1. Shared Web Hosting
 2. Managed Hosting
 3. Dedicated Hosting
 4. Colocation Web Hosting
 5. VPS (Virtual Private Server)
 6. Reseller Hosting
There are more types of Web Hosting, we will talk about all of them in future posts. We will also talk about all features in detail, how to manage it. So, don’t forget to bookmark this website (or page).

Dickinson’s “Much Madness is divinest Sense” – New Critics Perspective

“Much Madness is divinest Sense” is a poem by the American poet Emily Dickinson. This article will analyse the poem under the theoretical framework of New Criticism. New Criticism is a school of thought that viewed the text as an autotelic entity “constituted by internal relations and independent of reference either to state of mind of the author or the actualities of the external world.”

The New Critics emphasised on Close reading. Which means that, they looked at the poem as an organic entity of its own instead of associating it to the external cultural and historical background. A close reading of this poem would hence exclude all external factors such as the time period or the socio-political background which the poem might refer to. Furthermore, Wimsatt and Beardsley coined the terms intentional and affective fallacies. According to them, reading the poem by trying to understand the ‘intent’ of the poet would fall under intentional fallacy. In this poem, reading it with reference to Emily Dickinson or her views and criticisms on religion and patriarchy must be avoided. Affective fallacy refers to reading the text in terms of the emotional effect that it has on a particular reader.

The poem presents several sets of opposing forces like sanity and insanity, rationality and irrationality, and consequences of either assenting or demurring. The poet persona offers two opposing choices. If one chooses to assent and follow the orders without questions, then they are considered sane. But if one chooses to voice out their opinion and demur against the orders, then they are instantly branded as dangerous and are subjected to punishment. The persona does not specify which is better. Although assenting seems like the easier option of the two, the individual has to go against their beliefs and give up their freedom of choice to be labelled safely as sane. Meanwhile, demurring results in the curbing of physical freedom or the loss of a social status, but the individual at least had the satisfaction of being true to themselves. Both the choices ultimately result in the loss of freedom in one way or the other. Thus, the poem achieves perfect balance or equilibrium and is rendered invulnerable to irony.

Ambiguity, paradox and metaphors have been used throughout the poem. The terms ‘much’, ‘madness’ and ‘sanity’ are not terms that are adequately quantifiable. They are ambiguous in the sense that each of these are perceived differently by different individuals. What ‘much madness’ is to one person might not be the same to another. Similarly, madness in itself is an ambiguous term as it can be defined only with reference to context. In the beginning line, madness is considered to be the divinest sense, and yet, due to the subjective nature of the perception of madness, it is also seen as something dangerous. This serves as a paradox within the poem.

In his essay “The Well-Wrought Urn”, Cleanth Brooks speaks of the ‘heresy of paraphrase’ wherein, the text cannot be subjected to summarisation without losing its meaning. Similarly, in this poem, culling out a line from within the poem would render it meaningless. The poem works as an organic unity wherein all the lines complement each other within the context to give it full meaning.

The New Critics considered the form of the poem to be equal or reflective of the content of the poem. Here, the random capitalisation of words and the abrupt pauses disrupts the flow and rhythm of the verse, hence reflecting the sense of madness mentioned in the poem. Similarly, words like ‘much’ and ‘madness’ are repeated to emphasise on the inherent theme of the poem. In the sixth line, we see that the lines are much shorter and simpler as the persona speaks about assent and its simple consequences. But in the seventh and eighth lines, the lines are much complex and stretched out as the persona speaks of demurring which is reflective of the dire consequences mentioned in the poem. Dashes are present throughout the poem linking each line to another which is representative of the ‘chain’ mentioned in the final line. The poem “Much Madness is divinest Sense” can be regarded as an ‘ideal poem’ according to the framework laid down by the New Critics. The poem presents two opposing forces of assenting and demurring which achieves equilibrium by proving that neither is better off than the other, hence rendering the poem invulnerable to irony. The poem also uses ambiguity as well as paradox to convey the theme better. The form of the poem is reflective of the content which maintains the organic structure of the text.

Current Scenario of Water Resources in India

[9:54 PM,20/07/2021]Priyanshi: Current Scenario of Water Resources in India

Water resources are sources of water that are useful or potentially useful to humans. Water resources come in many forms but the three major forms are saltwater, groundwater, surface water. Although our earth is called the ” Blue Planet” as 70% of the earth is covered by water yet only 2.5% of the world’s water is fresh, while 97.5% is saline being oceans. Of this small percentage of fresh water, only 0.3% of this freshwater is available from rivers, lakes, and reservoirs, 30% from the groundwater while the rest is stored in distant glaciers, ice sheets, mountainous areas, places that we hardly access. The demand for water from various water users, namely domestic, municipal, agricultural, horticulture, recreation, power, and industrial sectors are increasing.
Now for discussing the current scenario of water resources, we will be discussing two things the availability and the quality of water resources. Firstly, discussing the availability factors, the renewable freshwater resources of the country are only about 4% of those of the world. As in many countries, the water resources of this country are not evenly distributed in space and time. Although some water is received from the upstream countries, precipitation is the main source of water availability. India is an agricultural country and a greater share of the population lives in rural areas. There prevails so much inadequacy of water resources in some areas whereas there is excess supply of water resources in other areas. This much inequity in distribution leads to so many problems. One side of the country is facing floods whereas another side is facing drought , these two opposite phenomena are hitting the country simultaneously. The increased pressure is spilling over the groundwater resources as well because of unhydrological uncertainty growing groundwater contamination problems. Our government is trying to solve this problem that exists due to inequity in distribution of water resources by working on certain projects like transferring huge volumes of water from one basin to another whether there is a lack of water resources.
If we talk about the quality of water resources then we must be aware of the fact that with increasing population, the amount of wastewater discharge also increases. This poses a crucial problem of water pollution to rivers as well as groundwater and thus meeting human water needs and sustenance of aquatic ecosystems remain one of the greatest. Indian rivers such as Ganga, Yamuna are showing a very poor state of water quality in many stretches. Also, the groundwater contamination by arsenic in West Bengal and fluoride contamination in Rajasthan is posing a serious threat to mankind as the drinking water supply is at the stake of great hydrological risk. Arsenic poisoning and fluoride contamination are becoming major bottlenecks in safe drinking water supply and health. Thus water quality management is the most complicated task.
Appropriate water management plans are required to be adopted by the industries to reduce wastewater, water scarcity and to have less stress on the water resources so that they could be used for other essential drinking water supplies. This will facilitate water accountability to industrial consumers and in turn, it will be a significant contribution to water resource planners and for the sustainability of resources as well.
