In an important announcement, the Intergovernmental Committee of UNESCO’s 2003 Convention on Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage has inscribed ‘Durga Puja in Kolkata’ on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity during its 16th session being held at Paris, France from 13th to 18th December 2021. The Committee commended Durga Puja for its initiatives to involve marginalized groups, and individuals as well as women in their participation in safeguarding the element.

The Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and DONER, in a tweet said that this is a recognition of the confluence of our rich heritage, culture, rituals and practices and a celebration of the feminine divinity and the spirit of womanhood.

Durga Puja not only is a celebration of the feminine divinity but is a consummate expression of dance, music, crafts, rituals, practices culinary and cultural aspects. The festival transcends the boundaries of caste, creed and economic classes and joins the people together in its celebration.

With the inscription of Durga Puja in Kolkata, India now has 14 intangible cultural heritage elements on the prestigious UNESCO Representative List of ICH of Humanity. Furthermore, its importance is not in the cultural manifestation itself, but in the wealth of knowledge, know-how and skills that are transmitted from one generation to the next.

Mother Teresa

Humanity, something that should always be treasured more than anything else in the world prevails when someone actually carries it in their work.

So did the wonder women of needy people, our Mother Teresa, she was the epitome of kindness, this is the story of the woman who was an extraordinary mother of the whole nation who proved that no matter how many obstacles are going to be there on the path she would never deviate and will always abide by the utmost dedication and indomitable courage.

She might be the only one when she started this wave but she comes out to be a much bigger inspiration for many others out there who all are in the path of dedication and peace.

Undying Spirit

The call of God is something that every one of us gets at least once in our whole day still are we able to grasp it clearly without the disturbance of the world’s attachment?

No, most of us don’t even have time to spare for the things which could deliver peace to our soul, to our society, and everyone else around us because we are living in a speedy world after all.

If we talk about the 19’s then the things were different and difficult for everyone out there but women, it would be an understatement that it was tough for them, they were going through much evil practice of the society at that time, and even if times like that couldn’t stop the will of a girl named Agnes Gonxha.

A girl so young and pure devoted her whole life to spread the message of humanity and love too far lands without the attachment yet feeling the pain of every poor and needy out there.

The capacity and ability of one’s soul to dedicate the whole life without even thinking for yourself even for once is a virtue not many of us can ever achieve.

Yet there she left her home and parents to give us the message, No not to leave home but to not stop till you achieve what you think is right and peace bearer for the upliftment of the society.

Born as a Mother

In the young age of Agnes when her father died, she was just 8 years of age and that was the time Agnes’s mother stilled the deep compassion and love for the whole of humanity. She taught her daughter that one need not be wealthy to help others one needs to be considerate and compassionate to help.

When Agnes was young her mother even set an example to teach her daughter how to be a human above every caste, creed, color.

Even when not stable enough her mother invited every destitute to din with them and taught Agnes that you don’t unless they do and that was the point and learning she took which changes Agnes to Mother Teresa, a symbol of peace for humanity, an epitome of boundless love and care for the poor.

A HELPFUL PERSON I’VE MET

There are very less people in this world who will stay by your side always or help you always. But still, they exist. I’m glad that I had encountered with such person. So, when I was in 8th grade I shifted to a new school in a different city. Being a quite introverted person I always had problems while meeting new people or adjusting to new environment. I always take time to get comfortable with new people.

That same thing happened on my first day in the new school. I was not able converse with other students. Some even made fun of me. I almost believed that this is worst day of my life. I was feeling humiliated but then a girl approached me and tried to talk to me. At first I thought she must be here to make fun of me like others but she just wanted to be friends with me. I accepted her offer and slowly we become close.

She was very good at studies so she helped me with my studies and she often provided me with notes if I was absent in school. We used to play many games during our free time. She also helped me with my projects and assignments. Slowly we became best friends, we would often visit each others’ houses. I felt no longer lonely with her. On days, when I felt miserable and giving up she would motivate me and helped me to stay calm.

She was literally the best person I’ve ever met. Her interests were in literature so she used to write a lot about various topics and things. She was very ambitious towards her goal which used to inspire me a lot. Whenever someone tried to break our friendship She always stayed my side and never left me. Even after so many years when I think about our friendship, I feel really blessed to have such friend.

World Humanitarian Day

The 19th of August is marked as the World Humanitarian Day by the UN General Assembly. On this day, in 2003, a bomb attack in Iraq killed 22 Humanitarian aid workers. Each year, a theme of global concern is chosen for the Humanitarian Day. This international day aims to spread awareness around the issues important for survival, well-being, and dignity for the group of people affected by any sort of crisis.

Theme for the Humanitarian Day

In 2020, the theme was about the Covid aid workers. Its objective was to show gratitude and respect for their tireless efforts in rendering service day and night. Theme for this year is “The Human Race”, with special focus on climate change. It highlights the human cost of climate change and aims to pressure world leaders to make meaningful decisions to help the most affected people.

Its aim is to draw attention to the millions of people who are vulnerable to climate change, and have already lost lives, livelihood and home, due to the extreme climatic changes. UN plans to shed some light on these issues by using the #theHumanRace on social media and other platforms. “Climate Change emergency is a race we are losing, but it is a race we can win.” said the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.

Global Humanitarian Overview

Global Humanitarian Overview is an evidence based assessment of the humanitarian needs such as eradication of hunger, diseases, gender-based violence, etc. In the overview of 2020, Gender-Based violence and its response was a major priority. Particularly due to the pandemic’s impact in deepening the existing inequalities and vulnerabilities.

According to the overview, nearly 235 million people will need protection and humanitarian assistance in 2021. The need for assistance has gone up from 1 in 45 people in 2020, to 1 in 33 people in 2021. According to the assessment, most people in need of assistance in 2021, are present in Afghanistan. The international organizations have planned to help 160 million people affected by hunger, conflict and climate related issues.

To overcome the main issues around poverty and hunger require humanitarian assistance and aid. According to Nelson Mandela, a well known humanitarian leader, “Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like slavery and apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings. Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. You can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom.”

It is important to join hands and make a positive change for the betterment of humankind. Humanitarian activists and leaders, along with the common people can work together and eradicate all the ills faced by humanity.

Peace and trust builds humanity.

As the famous quote by Dalai Lama goes, “World belongs to humanity, not this leader, that leader or that king or prince or religious leader. World belongs to humanity.” So what does Humanity mean and how can we induce a sense of humanity in our society and how can we build it up?

Humanity refers to the human race. It also symbolises qualities that make us human, qualities like love and compassion towards each other. Humanity is an important part of life which tells that to help others whenever and wherever possible. Humanity entails putting others’ needs ahead of our own at times when they are most in need, and putting others’ needs ahead of our own when they are most in need. Humanity means extending unconditional love to each and every living being on Earth. For showing humanity you don’t need to be a rich person, even a poor person can show humanity by helping someone or sharing food, etc.

The image above shows us, that as human we are all interconnected, so for one to thrive, the others have to thrive as well, and for that, humanity needs to built.

However, humanity has not always been this perfect idea of love, compassion and togetherness. As humans, we tend to be selfish rather than selfless in many ways, we tend to view minorities and less fortunate as lesser humans, we take pleasure at the expense of another person’s distress, we create divisions and play God. And as we go through this cycle of the same vile thoughts and ideas, the sense of humanity slowly moves further away from us.

To break this cycle, humans need to be more trustworthy and must have a sense of peace. As the concept of humanity is also dependent on qualities like trust, honesty and a sense of peace and togetherness one must know the importance of the qualities of trust and peace.

Trust is the glue of society, it cements relationships, makes us feel safe and helps us to belong to a group. To trust is human, however, somewhere along the lines the actual meaning of trust has gotten erased in all the selfishness, insensitivities and egoism of humankind. For any society to flourish, trust is one of the many prerequisites  for humanity to thrive as when trust is present things go well, whether it is trust in a leader to follow, in a doctor, in a consultant or a coach or trust in spouses, siblings and friends. However, trust has to be earned and yet even the trust that is earned can be lost, but it can also be regained.

Peace is another pre-requisite for humanity, as it a necessary conditions for the development of mankind. Peace of all the human beings mean peace and harmony among all the nations, ethnic groups and religions. It can bring about a stable society. The virtue of peace and its importance is mentioned in many religions.  However, in today’s society peace doesn’t seem to exist between countries, political parties or even in families. This absence of peace gives rise to many conflicts and violence. These violence’s are created by differences in political or religious ideologies. This ends up with people fighting and losing sight of the basic humanity.

Hence, trust is one of the most important tools that has an incredible power to helps us to connect, inspire, motivate and encourage people and peace is a way of sustaining social life distant from internal conflict, which is necessary for what is left of humanity to survive.

PROBLEMS FACED BY LGBT COMMUNITY

The expression “LGBT” represents lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans gender. A lesbian is lady drawn to another ladies. Gay is a man drawn to another man. Bisexual individuals are drawn to more than one gender. A transgender individual is somebody whose sex personality varies from the one they were appointed upon entering the world. Individuals in the LGBT people group are battling for equivalent rights and acknowledgment. Trans individuals, particularly, face a ton of trouble in discovering acknowledgment. Individuals in the LGBT people group are peered downward on constantly. While lesbians, gay and bisexual individuals are reluctant to inform their families about their sexuality.

They are not acknowledged in the public eye. Others ridicule them. “LGBT” terms are regularly used to affront somebody. “Gay” is frequently utilized as a revile/curse term which isn’t right. Somebody’s identity shouldn’t be utilized as reviling/cursing word.

Consistently, an enormous number of LGBT individuals face gigantic issues identified with brutality, joblessness, separation, destitution and absence of medical care. Biased individuals have issues with the manner in which individuals from the LGBT people group lead their lives. These individuals, I accept, are being juvenile. There are a few group who claims themselves as LGBT ally however the extremely next second they crack lame and sexiest jokes on them.

However, there are individuals who genuinely support LGBT people group. Be that as it may, of individuals have ill-conceived notion about them. They accept that LGBT individuals shouldn’t be permitted in home. I believe If school make their understudies mindful about the LGBT people group, we would not deal with such issues.

Homo Sapiens!

No defination can define humanity. Humanity is something that a person does for another person’s well-being and betterment. Being human does not mean that an individual possesses humanity. Humanity means caring for and helping others whenever and wherever possible. Humanity means helping others at times when they need that help the most, humanity means forgetting your selfish interests at times when others need your help. Humanity means extending unconditional love to each and every living being on Earth.

Humanity is all about feeling love and compassion for others, for other people, be they relatives or even people who are distant from our life. It’s a feeling of love and compassion for everyone, irrespective of religion, caste, and creed, irrespective of nationality, and even for our enemies. Matters like religion, caste, creed, and nationality often separate people and do not unite them.

Humanity, however, is much more than that. The feeling of love and compassion is not just for human beings, but also for plants, animals, and also for the environment in which we live.

Unfortunately, many of us have detached ourselves from humanity. We have become inhuman in many ways.

Now is the moment, it’s done or die. So do it for hunger, do it for charity, do it for peace or do it for freedom, do it for equality, do it for cancer, or do it for the poor, do it for the living, but do it for change and do it for today…do it for HUMANITY.

AN INCIDENT THAT RESTORED MY FAITH IN HUMANITY

Prior to disclosing to you my story , I need to make myself clear that I am not saying that humankind has totally evaporated from our reality. Yet, it is truth that we people have gotten insatiable and egotistical. More often than not we don’t help other people except if we see our benefit. These days, cash has gotten more essential to us than others. I additionally sort of accepted that thing, however after that one incident I came to realize that there are as yet pleasant individuals in world, who will help other people without seeing their benefit.

Save The Humanity – We Care For Everything

So, it was around 10 years prior, I was 7 years old around then. It was the long stretch of February and was recent days I was felling extremely debilitated, it was such a lot of that we chose to visit the doctor. The specialist recommended me a medicines, yet those prescriptions were of high dose which consequently demolish my condition. Scarcely any days after that I understood that I was unable to move my limbs much. My parents got truly stressed and we visit to the specialist once more. I got conceded in the emergency clinic yet my condition didn’t improve, it continued getting decline. Then, at that point two of my Mom’s companions came and encouraged to go to the next clinic which was in other city. We went their and we came to realize that my left half of body got paralyzed.

My folks couldn’t really accept that what they heard, they were stunned. I got conceded in that hospital. Since that emergency clinic was not in our city, we dealt with issues particularly me since I was unable to eat custom made food. Close to my ward there was additionally an old individual conceded. His family used to live in that city just , so they brought him hand crafted quality food and other important things. Be that as it may, one day his family visited my ward and connected with my folks. They felt terrible for me and said to my folks that “You can uninhibitedly get in touch with us on the off chance that you need anything”. Following day, when his family came they brought nourishment for us too. We were so moved by their thoughtful gesture. Also, regardless of being a finished outsider to us. They brought food and other important things for us practically ordinary, even after that grandpa got discharged. Following one and a half month I got released, despite the fact that I was not totally well.

They offered us to live in their home since we may require help. In any case, we declined the offer since we would prefer not to give them more difficulty, since they previously helped us a great deal in this range of one and a half month. We chose to go to our home yet following not many months we went to their home to express gratitude toward them, since we were so moved by their thoughtful gesture. We felt so fortunate to met them. They were really heavenly messengers in human structure. They helped us in our difficult stretches. Besides, they additionally gave us moral help and support my parents. They energized me while I was recovering and they wished me wellbeing and accomplishment before we left.

This thoughtful gesture reestablished my confidence in humankind. It caused me to accept that there are as yet pleasant individuals in our reality. Furthermore, in all honesty we as a whole have encountered such incidents in our life which have made us puts stock in humankind. As a result of such individuals “Humankind” actually exist in our reality.

Is love depleting from the world of humans?

Photo by Min An on Pexels.com

“Love will find a way through paths, where wolves fear to pray”, as beautifully quoted by Lord Byron. Indeed “Love”, is one of the purest elements in the whole universe, which makes our world more beautiful.

Why do we love? Is it important to love others? Should we love ourselves? There are endless unexplored questions that make us think about it. For a poet, love is like seeing those dazzling stars at night, for a painter, love is beauty gifted by nature, for a philosopher it is something beyond existence. But one common thought which provokes in every human is that love makes us unite, it gives us harmony and a sense of comfort towards each other.

Love is illusioned in our minds, in our hearts, but yet it is fading somewhere from the world of humans.  Somewhere, we humans have forgotten how to love each other.

We are living in a generation where humans are rebellious and have detached from the emotional state of being. In the Contemporary world, people have forgotten about love and its profoundness. Whether it is self-love, to love others, Humans are having a neglecting behavior when it comes to love and gratitude.

This era is an era of remorse! An era where we are afraid of each other. Humans are toxic to each other. Where people don’t care for each other.

Gone are the days when the world was a beautiful place with all the precious jewels of mother nature. Now our world is a place filled with hatred, jealousy, evilness towards each other. Humans are in a motive to devastate each other for their desires and to let down other humans.

The love is no more the love that was there in the 18th century when Romeo loved Juliet had an eternal for each other. This was the time when love was the most prominent role for all humans to perform. Humans are the most threatening creature on our earth which is not only depleting love but also depleting humankind.

Love is no more than the love we had!

We have lost all our ethics and norms and living a misleading life. Often, we are living a life that has become a misfortune. We are living beings with shallow hearts. We have created a world where faith and trust no longer exist, and if it all is found we are burdened with societal pressure that we fall apart from our convictions.

Love is considered feeble, rather is one of the most vigorous things in the universe.

But as we say there is always hope for all. Love never dies and so we are alive till love exists. It all depends upon us and our convictions that how we perceive it.

In the end, to conclude we can say that why to deplete such a beautiful thing from the world. Let’s make a world more alluring than it is. Let’s make the world a paradise by loving and caring for each other.

Water

Water is the foundation of our lives. For daily survival, the human body requires water. We can survive for a week without any food, but we will not even survive three days without water. Also, 70 per cent of our body fluids is water. In turn, this helps our bodies to work usually. There are also significant health issues for human beings because of the shortage of adequate water or intake of polluted water. The water we drink, thus, is of substantial value to our physical wellbeing plus fitness.

Besides, without water, we do not carry out our daily activities. It is equally necessary whether we are thinking about brushing up early in the morning or preparing our meals. We depend very strongly on this transparent chemical in this domestic use of water.

The industries also consume a great deal of water on a large scale. For almost every step of your process, you need water. The product that we use every day is essential to manufacture. If we look beyond human uses, water plays a vital role in every life of the living creatures. It is the birthplace of marine animals. Every organism needs water to survive, from a small insect to a whale. We thus see how water is required, not only for humans but also for plants and animals. To function the Earth depends on water. We cannot be egoistic and use it for our uses without taking care of the environment.

Water is necessary not only for our survival but also for a healthy and happy life. Everyone has seen the situation of water-deprived countries like Africa, where people lead miserable lives. All have to wake up to the urgent need for water conservation.

We all know it is important, and we all know we should be doing it. But do we know why? Well, for starters, water makes up 60 percent of your total body weight, and a startling 90 percent of brain weight. Adequate hydration is essential for your body to function at all, let alone optimally. But if that isn’t enough to convince you, here are five fantastic reasons water is important to your health:

1. Water boots energy. Water delivers important nutrients to all of our cells, especially muscle cells, postponing muscle fatigue.

2. Water helps weight loss. Water helps you feel full longer, without adding any additional calories. Drinking water or eating foods with a high water content can be a big help in managing your weight.

3. Water aids in digestion. Water aids in constipation and other abdominal issues, especially those suffering from IBS. Water helps to move the digestive process along and through the system.

4. Water detoxifies. Moves toxins through your system faster, and optimizes kidney function. Inadequate hydration means inadequate kidney function.

5. Water hydrates skin. Forget expensive creams and cure-alls, water is the best defense against aging and wrinkles in the skin.

The guideline recommended amount is eight glasses per day, though this varies from person to person. Those who exercise regularly, work outside, or have chronic medical conditions should consume more water to compensate for more water loss.

Remember, water is your friend, and proper hydration is a key to good health.

Human rights and armed conflict

Armed conflicts

Numerous armed conflicts are currently taking place around the globe, cost of which goes beyond the numbers deaths but it also includes the victims of the consequences of war.The number of indirect victims of armed conflicts is much higher than that of direct deaths.  Indirect death is mainly caused by some preventable infectious diseases, undernourishment , and pregnancy-related conditions. In addition to deaths, armed conflicts also lead to undernourishment, increased infant mortality rates, forced migration, refugees, destruction of infrastructure.

International armed conflict, internationalized armed conflict, and non-international armed conflict are the three types of conflicts recognized by International humanitarian law.

Human rights

“Human rights” can be defined as rights of all human beings, regardless of nationality, residence, gender, ethnic origin, race, religion, language or any other status. Everyone is equally entitled to their human rights without any discrimination. This belief is fairly new and it stems from an evolution of the reflection of human dignity over the past centuries.

After World War II, stronger ideas of human rights emerged . People wanted to make sure that they never again be unjustly denied freedom, food, and shelter. The calls for human rights standards to protect citizens from abuses by their governments, came from different parts of the world. These voices played an important role in the San Francisco meeting that drafted the United Nations Charter in 1945. United Nations was then established with the primary goal of maintaining international peace and preventing conflict.

International humanitarian law

Human rights during armed conflicts are infringed upon the most. Therefore, over the years, there has been much focus on the formulation of mechanism aimed at alleviating human suffering armed conflicts. International law of armed conflicts, of which humanitarian law is a part, tries to provide protection to victims of war and crimes.

AMBITION

The starting point of all achievement is desire.” —Napoleon Hill

One needs to aim for the sky, to achieve as much as a mountain in the bargain Success in life comes only to those who are ready to work hard for the same. The key to success is to have an aim in life and the earlier you attain this aim, the better.

In spite of all the new options in today’s times, there are those age-old professions that are a favourite with most of the youngsters all the time. These include, the profession of a doctor, an engineer and that of a teacher or an advocate. I too, wanted to be part of one of these noble professions. If my memory proves me right, I always wanted to be a teacher. What is exciting about teaching is that this is one of the few professions where you are actually dealing with living beings. To make a difference to a child’s life or to positively influence a child in such a way as to bring about good change, is a great achievement in itself. Somewhere, along the path, we are also the product of the reinforcements made by our parents and teachers, one way or the other.

However, even our Puranas reinstate that the teacher or the guru’ comes above God. The reason being that teacher is the person who shows you the way to God, or teaches you, what God is all about. So, if the enlightenment of God and the things around you comes from one particular force, then that is the person to be revered, first.

The responsibility being immense, it’s not an easy job either. If the young minds have to look forward to you as a source of knowledge, then you need to be one. With the quantum of knowledge increasing day by day, it’s a difficult task to keep abreast of the upcoming information. Apart from all this, what is more important in this profession is whole hearted dedication and willingness to work beyond the restrictions of time and assigned duties.

With all this view in mind, I would like to pursue my ambition to be a teacher. It’s anyhow of least importance to assert which subject I would specialize in because subject is not as important, as to know, how to effectively teach it. Be it Maths. English or Science, to develop a flair and love for the subject is a teacher’ s greatest challenge. A bad teacher can always generate an aversion towards the subject in the minds of the children, just by not giving the subject a proper treatment. My ultimate aim would be to be such a teacher who would make a difference in the lives of young minds and bring about their overall development.

HUMANITY

Being kind is the biggest asset in you.

I’m very sure humanity dead in this generation. Everyone are busy with their works, they forget helping others. In this world, each day has 24 hours and we ourself not even spend a single minute to see others. This is the only place where richer gets rich and poorer stays poor. How to get off the imbalance the rich should take over the poor. The life is undefined, even next minute may take our breathe after that there’s no use of hiding money. Just a single paper of currency can bring smile among many.

For an instance, while you’re walking in a road a man before you suddenly gets fainted there’s nobody noticing him even yourself never bought a bottle of water to wake him instead we all just take our mobile and tape him and put them in social media’s tagging RIP HUMANITY, yes humanity dead and the first accused is you.

There are many people in search of God and spending lot to find where’s the origin and who he belongs. But the actual truth is no such thing, don’t search God among others search God on you. If a hunger begger gets feed by you, then you’re the God to him. Feel the God in you, if you sow smile I’m others by helping then you can see the good aura in you.

There are many developed countries and many developing countries, between these two there’s another category countries which could be developed. The majority businessmen are failed to take care of their own motherland. Think others with a open communal mind, if the hungry of you gets over and still you have food then why you hesitate of storing it instead you could share it.

The question is where does it starts or whom does it should be. The answer is within you. Search yourself and start helping others. As a human you should take care on others too that’s why we are declared as 6th sensed beings.

HUMANITY IS NOT THE BEST QUALITY, IT’S A BASIC QUALITY.
