Bizzare Indian Superstitions

https://www.pexels.com/

As the world has entered the era of drone delivery & Chandrayaan launches, yet it fails to get rid of age-old beliefs that have no scientific or logical reasoning behind it. The Cambridge dictionary defines superstition as “a belief that is not based on human reason or scientific knowledge but is connected with old ideas about magic & etc. “
This blind belief upon superstitions turns one into a mentally-weak, peevish & ridiculous person. This directly or indirectly causes retardation in the progress of the country.
Although this blind trust upon superstitions is not the same as faith. Exemplary support to describe faith can be the existence of God. It’s not a superstition to believe in his existence. Faith is necessary for a man’s existence. This theism instills the quality of being religious & god-fearing thus ennobling one morally & spiritually.
There are still many people in the country who believe and follow many of such beliefs and superstitions. While superstitions are usually attributed to lack of education, well-educated Indians also follow these superstitions quite blindly. Although you can’t make out the reason behind them. But they are still being followed within some Indian societies with utmost sincerity. So here is a collection of 10 super-weird & fun superstitions curated just for you :
1] A black cat crossing your way hints one to delay or postpone the work. To tackle the situation, people usually tend to change their way or direction, avoiding to take that particular path that the cat crossed.
2] The hooting of an owl & moaning of dogs are considered to be a bad omen.
3] This has to the most prominent Indian superstition by far. Having a spoonful of sweetened curd before heading out, to begin with, something important is considered auspicious.
4] If a crow is calling by your place, implies you are having guests. On the contrary, a crow’s shit is also implied to bring good luck.
5] Getting hiccups hints that someone is probably thinking of you.
6] Adding a rupee to the cash meant to be given, is considered auspicious.
7] One can easily spot some chilies & a lemon hanging by a string in front of shops in India. This is believed to avert the evil power from your place.
8] There’s a right time & period to cut hair & nails. One shouldn’t cut his nails or hair on Thursdays & Saturdays. Plus also not in the night time.
9] No. 3 or 13 is said to bring bad luck. So one must avoid these numbers.
10] Wearing rings of different stones & metals is said to bring good luck.

Tencent out of the Way….

The developer of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has cut ties with Tencent (TCEHY) in India in a bid to skirt a government ban on Chinese mobile apps in one of the video game’s most lucrative markets.PUBG Corporation said in a statement on Tuesday that Tencent Games in India will no longer be authorized to publish the mobile version of its PUBG franchise. The South Korean gaming company said it will take on all publishing responsibilities itself within the country, where PUBG was the biggest grossing mobile game last month.

PUBG was the top mobile game by monthly active users in India last year, according to analytics firm AppAnnie. In the first half of this year, it was downloaded more than 54 million times, analytics firm Sensor Tower told CNN Business. Last month, it generated $2.2 million in revenue, earning the most among India’s top 20 mobile games. The news will come as a blow to Tencent (TCEHY), which has already had its popular messaging app WeChat banned in India. It is also contending with a possible WeChat ban in the United States. Tencent did not immediately respond to a request for comment on PUBG’s announcement.India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has now banned nearly 200 mobile apps originating from China, according to Gateway House, a foreign policy think tank in Mumbai. In June it banned the short-form video app TikTok, which is owned by ByteDance. The ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether PUBG’s actions will give Indian fans access to themobile version of the game again.

A week after PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite were banned in India citing threats to national security. South Korea-based PUBG Corporation has said it was working with the Government of India to resolve the issue. PUBG’s solution is to start publishing all games itself in India and not via Chinese tech major Tencent Games.

Within two days of the ban, both Google Play Store and Apple App store have removed PUBG Mobile as well as PUBG Mobile Lite. Both apps had millions of downloads in the country. “It has seen an overwhelming amount of support for the game from the country’s player base and would like to thank the community for their passion and enthusiasm,” PUBG noted.

The South Korean maker of popular mobile game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, or PUBG, is looking to partner an Indian gaming firm in an attempt to resurrect its fortunes in its biggest market.

A person aware of the negotiations said a new licensing agreement is in the works with an Indian gaming firm to pass on the rights to run the PUBG Mobile game in India.

Unlike earlier, PUBG Corp. will now retain the publishing rights for the game, with the Indian partner handling the distribution

Terrorism In India : An Overview

The unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to indimate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.

India has already been ranked among the top ten terrorism affected countries including states such as Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Tripura, Assam, Nagaland and Manipur. • There are other states also which have been victims of Naxalite terrorism.

 CAUSES OF TERRORISM IN INDIA

 • In India ,terrorism can be classified in 3 distinct parts: . Cross border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. . Terrorism in the hinterland. . Extreme violence and terrorism as an integral part of the ongoing insurgencies.

 • In a richly diverse society, politics of communalism and criminalisation, fanatic religious movements and irresponsible statements by political leaders, marginalised minority communities, high levels of youth unemployment, poverty, illiteracy etc. Provide an ideal fertile ground for terrorism to take root and thrive in India. India also remains highly vulnerable to terrorism by foreign terrorists, due to porous borders with all its neighbours and a long coast line.

 • As a result, the terrorists and insurgents continue to receive material support and funds from a number of sources.

 • India has experienced all kinds of terrorist attacks like hijacking and blowing up of aircrafts, the assassination of 2 of its prime ministers etc.

• Political cause: primary source of terrorism in India. For example, this ia primarily seen in Tripura and Assam. The political factors that resulted in terrorism included the failure of the government to control and manage large scale immigrants from Bangladesh.

 • Economic cause: Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh are prime examples. The economic factors include rural unemployment, exploitation of landless labourers by those who own land. These economic perceptions and grievances of gross social injustice have led to the rise of ideological groups of terrorists.

 • Religious causes: these are also primary sources of terrorism. In Punjab, some elements of Sikh belonging to different organisations shifted to terrorism to the development of an independent state known as Khalistan for Sikhs.

• State-sponsored terrorism: which consists of terrorist acts on a state or government by a state or a government.

 • Dissent-terrorism: which are terrorist groups that dissent against their government.

• Terrorists and the left and the right: which are the groups rooted in political ideologies.

 • Religious terrorism: terrorists groups that are extremely religiously motivated.

• Criminal terrorism: terrorists acts used to aid in crime and criminal profit.

Terrorism can undermine political moderation in a democracy, paving the way for more extreme elements to gain footholds. The death toll of a terrorist attack ,often inflicted in a spectacular way that draws media attention and leads to political criticism, can undermine faith in government.  The secular, pluralistic, ethnically diverse, and vibrant democracy that India has nurtured ever since its independence on 1947 has become the envy of many radical and extremist ideologies.

IMPACT OF TERRORISM

Firstly, it creates a state of panic amongst the citizens. The bomb blasts or firing impacts the mental health of the people.  Terrorist attacks create a sense of doubt in the foreign investors of India. This causes a huge blow to the business of India depending upon them. Thus, it damages the economy. As terrorist attacks cause loss of life and property, the replenishment takes up a lot of capital. There are political effects of terrorism in India. The killing of ex prime ministers of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi and Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, by terrorists ,effected Indian politics and economy at large. Due to 26/11 Mumbai attack , Home minister Mr. Shivraj Patil, chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh had to resign. This unstabilized the Indian industry.  The financial markets have been directly and indirectly the victims of terrorist attacks. In the aftermath of attacks, the financial markets were not only confronted with major activity disruptions caused by the massive damage to property and communication systems, but also with rising levels of uncertainty and market volatility.

STRATEGIES ADOPTED BY INDIAN AGENCIES FIGHTING TERROR.

NIA : A central government investigative agency to probe terror attacks in the country ,created by an act of the parliament of India on December 31,2008, following the Mumbai terror attack of November 2008. Full form is National Investigation Agency.

 • Intelligence agencies: There are a set of agencies responsible for fighting terrorism in India. A major agency utilized for gathering cross border information is the Research and Analysis wing(RAW)- the external intelligence agency. The Intelligence Bureau(IB), a division of the home affairs ministry is responsible for collecting intelligence information inside India

. • NATGRID: National Intelligence Grid is an intelligence grid interconnecting certain agencies of the government of India to collect and share intelligence that could be used by the intelligence agencies of various departments.

 • CAPF: Centre Armed Police Forces are used extensively in Maoist areas , Kashmir and North-east.

Terrorism in India poses a significant threat to the people of India. Ideologies and brain drain are among one of the important thing to keep in mind as causes of this crime. Terrorist attacks leave deterrent effects on society, political instability for the government and loss to the economy, in form of national and international business. Terrorism is very dangerous as it not only kills the human life but also the infrastructure, industry, ultimately damages its overall growth

Assassination of Indira Gandhi

I do not like carving the world into many segments; We are one world

Indira Gandhi, India

Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi Nehru; 19 November 1917 – 31 October 1984) was an Indian politician and a central figure of the Indian National Congress. She was the first and, to date, only female Prime Minister of India. Indira Gandhi was the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of India. She served as prime minister from January 1966 to March 1977 and again from January 1980 until her assassination in October 1984, making her the second longest-serving Indian prime minister after her father.

As prime minister, Gandhi was known for her political intransigency and unprecedented centralisation of power. She went to war with Pakistan in support of the independence movement and war of independence in East Pakistan, which resulted in an Indian victory and the creation of Bangladesh, as well as increasing India’s influence to the point where it became the sole regional power of South Asia. Citing separatist tendencies, and in response to a call for revolution, Gandhi instituted a state of emergency from 1975 to 1977 where basic civil liberties were suspended and the press was censored. Widespread atrocities were carried out during the emergency. In 1980, she returned to power after free and fair elections. After Gandhi ordered military action in the Golden Temple in Operation Blue Star, her own bodyguards and Sikh nationalists assassinated her on 31 October 1984.

In 1999, Indira Gandhi was named “Woman of the Millennium” in an online poll organised by the BBC. In 2020 Gandhi was named by the Time magazine among world’s 100 powerful women who defined the last century.

Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated at 9:29 a.m. on 31 October 1984 at her residence in Safdarjung Road, New Delhi. She was killed by her Sikh bodyguardsSatwant Singh and Beant Singh in the aftermath of Operation Blue Star. Operation Blue Star was an Indian military action carried out between 1 and 8 June 1984, ordered by Indira Gandhi to remove the Sikh leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his armed followers from the buildings of the Harmandir Sahib complex in Amritsar, Punjab. The collateral damage included the death of many pilgrims, as well as damage to the Akal Takht. The military action on the sacred temple was criticized by Sikhs both inside and outside India.

At about 9:20 a.m. Indian Standard Time, on 31 October 1984, Gandhi was on her way to be interviewed by British actor Peter Ustinov who was filming a documentary for Irish television. She was wearing a saffron saree with a black border, and accompanied by constable Narayan Singh, personal security officer Rameshwar Dayal and personal secretary, R. K. Dhawan. She was walking through the garden of the Prime Minister’s Residence at No. 1 Safdarjung Road in New Delhi towards the neighboring 1 Akbar Road office.

Gandhi passed a wicket gate guarded by Satwant and Beant Singh, and the two men opened fire. Beant fired three rounds into her abdomen from his .38 revolver, then Satwant fired 30 rounds from his Sten submachine gun after she had fallen to the ground. Both men then threw down their weapons and Beant said, “I have done what I had to do. You do what you want to do.” In the next six minutes, Border Police officers Tarsem Singh Jamwal and Ram Saran captured and killed Beant, while Satwant was arrested by Gandhi’s other bodyguards, along with an accomplice trying to escape; he was seriously wounded Satwant Singh was hanged in 1989 with accomplice Kehar Singh.

Kailasa Temple: A Golden Inscription on the Pages of Indian History

Rock cut architectures, especially from the bygone eras, are awe inspiring pieces of excellent craftsmanship and structural engineering. The sheer amount of details and size of some of the best examples of this art form can leave the people dumbstruck. It is unimaginable for many minds as to how such extravagant monuments and structures were carved with the tools that were available during their creation. These architectures are a reflection of how human beings can create even with limitations, which again, is a relative term with respect to time.

India has a special relation with rock cut architecture, as for the country has the most variety and abundance of these structures across the world. Most of the rock cut structures in India are religious in nature. Amongst all, the Kailash Temple, which is a part of the Ellora cave series is considered to be the pinnacle of this category of architecture. So, what makes it special? Let’s see…

Introduction

Rock cut architecture mainly refers to carving out of structures from a solid natural rock. The large amount of surplus rock pieces that were produced during this process were presumably shifted somewhere else for other economic purposes. To prevent the rocks from falling over the workers, the interiors were carved starting from the roof and then working downwards.

Ellora is one of the largest rock-cut monastery- temple complexes, and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is situated at a distance from 29 kilometres north-west of Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India and features Buddhist, Jain and Hindu monuments, dating back to 600 CE. This complex was constructed over a large period of time, spanning from 600-1000 CE. They were built during the reign of Rashtrakuta dynasty (constructed the Hindu and Buddhist caves) and Yadava dynasty (added quite a number of Jain caves). Over 100 caves were excavated in this site from the basalt cliffs in the Charanandri Hills. Out of them, only 34 are open for the public. 12 Buddhist (caves 1-12), 17 Hindu (caves 13-29)and 5 Jain (caves 30-34) make up the public accessible attractions and also display the religious harmony that was the binding cultural fabric of ancient India. The legendary Kailasha temple is featured in cave 16, and holds the honour of being the largest monolithic rock excavation in the world.

Glory of the Bygone Era

Kailasa or Kailashanatha temple is the largest rock cut Hindu temple in the Ellora cave complex. It is a megalith (stone from which a structure or monument is created, alone or along with other stones) shaped like a chariot, carved from a rock cliff face, ranging across 2 kilometres along the sloping basalt cliff. Its construction is estimated to have started in between 756-773 CE and was completed around the 8th century CE. Though there is a lack of dedicatory inscription, but on the basis of two epigraphs (the Vadodara copper plate inscription of Karkaraja II, a ruler of Rashtrakuta branch of Gujarat and the Kadaba grant of Govinda Prabhutavarsha), it is considered that Krishna I, a Rashtrakuta ruler has commissioned the creation of Kailasa temple. Though there are some specks of uncertainty due to various irregularities in the timeline and other historical documents. This magnanimous structure is dedicated to Kailashanatha (Shiva), but there are various sculptures of deities from Vaishnavism and Shaktism, along with relief panels depicting the two major Hindu epics, Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Due to the size, architecture and sculptures, it is considered to be one of the  most exceptional cave temples across the world.  One of the highlight worthy fact about the construction of this temple is that it has been excavated vertically, that is, the carving started from the top of the original rock and moved downwards, in contrast to the established method of carving from the front. The architecture defers from the earlier style attributed to the Deccan region. The southern influence is considered to be due to involvement of Chalukya and Pallava artisans. Based on a Marathi  legend, an architect named Kokasa is theorized to be the chief architect of Kailasa temple. It has some resemblance to the Virupaksha temple, Pattadakal and Kailasa Temple, Kanchi.

Exploring the Culture

The temple courtyard entrance has a low gopuram. The deities on the left side of the entrance belong to Shaivism and on the right side, deities of Vaishnavism are more prominent. This gateway leads to U shaped courtyard, which is edged by a three storey high columned arcade. The arcade and the complementary alcoves are decorated by sculptured panels and relief carvings of various deities. Some of the famous sculptures are ascetic Shiva, dancing Shiva and Shiva being warned by Parvati about Ravana.
The central shrine is dedicated to Shiva and has an image of Nandi (the sacred bull), and is situated within the courtyard. The temple encasing the lingam, also include a flat-roof mandapa, held up by 16 pillars and a Dravidian shikhara. Throughout the entire shrine, carvings of niches, windows, images of deities and mithunas are in abundance. As the tradition, Nandi sits on the porch in front of the primary temple. The Nandi mandapa and the main Shiva temple is situated on a height of 7 metres, and built in two storeys. The base of the temple is carved as such to project that the elephants are holding the temple aloft. The Nandi mandapa is connected to the main shrine via a rock bridge. The lower levels, upon which the temple is standing, depicts various mythological scenes and sculptures. Five detached shrines in the compound are also a notable feature, three of which are dedicated to Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati.

Friendship Is The Most Wonderful Relationship In Our Life

Friendship is the most wonderful relationship that anyone can have. Ideally a friend is a person who offers love and respect and will never leave or betray us. Friends can tell harsh truths when they must be told. There are four different types of friends: True friends, Convenient friends, Special interest friends, and historical friends. To have friendship is to have comfort. In times of crisis and depression, a friend is there to calm us and to help lift up our spirits. There are many illustrations that show why a friend can be a great comforter. For example, if a student is going through a hard time at school, a friend can offer guidance, encouragement and support.

A true friend is also someone who loves and respects us. A boyfriend and a girlfriend desire to be with each other. They love each other so much that they just want to be with each other as much as possible. This bond is also present in a good friendship because it has genuine love. Also, as friends they respect each other. They try to avoid causing conflicts. They don’t make fun of each other, but treat each other with respect. As friends, we all make sacrifices for each other. Some friends risk their lives for a friend.

A person is acquainted with many persons in their life. However, the closest ones become our friends. You may have a large friend circle in school or college, but you know you can only count on one or two people with whom you share true friendship. There are essentially two types of friends, one is good friends the other are true friends or best friends. They’re the ones with whom we have a special bond of love and affection. In other words, having a true friend makes our lives easier and full of happiness.

Most importantly, true friendship stands for a relationship free of any judgments. In a true friendship, a person can be themselves completely without the fear of being judged. It makes you feel loved and accepted. This kind of freedom is what every human strives to have in their lives. In short, true friendship is what gives us reason to stay strong in life. Having a loving family and all is okay but you also need true friendship to be completely happy. Some people don’t even have families but they have friends who’re like their family only. Thus, we see having true friends means a lot to everyone.

Being in a relationship and having a boyfriend and girlfriend they key word in that is “friend” the key to a relationship is to be good friends first before rushing into anything. that also means you have genuine love for each other and you even respect each other more. One of the most important thing about having a friend is to never betray them. A friend is loyal through thick and thin, broke or rich, house or no house, smart or dumb. A lot of friendships now a days are not real friendships. People are friends with each other for even a certain period of time to get something out of them. A lot of people do not keep promises in a friendship anymore and it is sad. Loyalty and love makes a friendship a lot stronger.

Therefore, there is no doubt that best friends help us in our difficulties and bad times of life. They always try to save us in our dangers as well as offer timely advice. True friends are like the best assets of our life because they share our sorrow, sooth our pain and make us feel happy.

Online classes results in Eyesight and Ear problems

Most of the students are now undertaking online classes due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. This is indeed a cause of worry for many parents because children spend extra hours on mobile phones and laptops. Experts also speak of the hazardous effects that digital classes can have on eyes of young children. Parents must take precautions and measures to ensure safety of the child’s eyes.

Needless to say, excessive usage of mobile phones, laptops or any other gadgets can affect children in many ways. This can be mental and physical. Eye strain is one amongst the most common problems. Some of its symptoms include excessive blinking, tearing, frequent rubbing of the eyes, dry eyes, headaches from eye strain and even tiredness. Parents must be extremely watchful and careful on how the child spends time online. Most of the classes, especially for children above class 8, goes on for long hours. Parents must cut short their time spent on video games, TV and other gadgets. Only a strict no works with most children!

During the last two weeks, a few school children in the age group of 8-10 came to my clinic with complaints of dryness in their eyes and frequent blinking of eyes. Prolonged reading on the mobile screen and watching it from close range may result in this type of problems,” says G. Hanumantha Rao, an ophthalmologist, who runs his clinic on MVP Double Road. He suggests that a laptop or a desktop with a large screen should be preferred. It also ensures that proper viewing distance is maintained, at least to some extent.

“Prolonged use of earphones can result in noise-induced deafness. It can also cause tinnitus and the child may experience ringing sounds in the ear. Severe exposure may cause inability to hear certain frequencies. The problems depend on the duration and intensity of the sound,” says B. Ramachandra Rao, an ENT surgeon at the Government ENT Hospital in the city.

An individual for living a life with pride and respect with a roof above the head and Food on the dining table, a steady employement is required. But after the arrival of Covid19 into the scenario the whole situation has been changed and the virus has affected a lot of bindividuals’ livelihood to a very great extent.

The economy was suffering since the slowdown which came into the country after the year 2018-19. The automobile sector wasthe kne which was affected to the maximum extent.  Sales were low and the market was lesser and lesser demand from the marketside and as a result after the end of the fiscal year, a lot of inventory was left with the automakers.

India’s automobile industry accounts for 49% of the country’s manufacturing GDP, and it directly and indirectly employs 37 million workers. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), 3, 50,000 jobs (mostly contractual) have been lost because of this slowdown and over a million are at a risk due to plant shutdowns and bankruptcy of dealers and component makers.

The services sector is the largest sector in India. The services sector accounts for 53.66% of total India’s GVA of Rs. 137.51 lakh crore. The industrial sector is at the second spot and contributing around 31% of the Indian GDP.

As many as 41 lakh youth in India lost jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic with most job losses in the construction and farm sector, according to a joint report by the International Labour Organization and the Asian Development Bank.
Youth will be hit harder than adults (25 and older) in the immediate crisis and risk bearing higher longer-term economic and social costs, said the report.

There are job disruptions in the form of reduced working hours and earnings, and job losses for both paid workers and the self-employed; disruptions in their education and training; and difficulties in transitioning from school to work, and moving between jobs in a recession.

Data from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), an independent body that measures and tracks economic indicators, has said that salaried jobs took a big hit during the COVID-19 lockdown, with the total loss estimated to be at 18.9 million during April 2020-July 2020.

The plight of salaried employees has worsened since the lockdown, with a loss of 17.7 million salaried jobs in April, additional 0.1 million jobs in May, followed by a gain of 3.9 million jobs in June and then again a loss of 5 million jobs in July.

Salaried job loss are very rare, but once lost they are further so difficult to be retrieved again. Another report says that salaried jobs were nearly 19 million short of their average in 2019-20.

As per the World Economic Forum (WEF), the Coronavirus pandemic is putting up to 50 million jobs in the global travel and tourism sector at risk. Of the 50 million jobs that could be lost, around 30 million would be in Asia.

Data from bloombergquint.com, timesofindia.com and theeconomicstimes.com

Moving ahead from the data of organized sector, there’re huge job losses in the unorganized or informal sector where there are no regulations, no rules and hence no correct data. Over 122 million people in India lost their jobs in April, according to estimates from Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy. Around 75% of them were small traders and wage-labourers. Local manufacturers previously also were not in a very good state because of big foreign producers availing goods at cheaper prices, but after the lockdown and the corona virus, their condition have turned to be even more inferior.

Small street food sellers, vendors who generally earn on daily basis, without savings and without sale have shut down their small business and are in a very bad state prolonging to have some credit and start the business again.

Even after introduction of various budgets and relief funds by the department of finance but still, daily wage labourers, and the small businesses are still suffering. Though the relief funds and other budgetary measures are taken by the government but this help is not reaching to the people at the root level. Proper disbursement of financial help directly to all the concerned groups should be there and the benefits of the schemes and other employment generation programs should reach to every sufferer.

Cumulative efforts by the government and other bodies will help the working population and various business to grow again and retaining their same positions like earlier in comparatively lesser time.

The ability of the player to control and maneuver the situation made it more even exciting. Violent video game is one type of game that has been the most out popular among players. But with the increasing number of people engaging into these computer games, a number of issues have been raised: negative and positive effects of these violent video games to children and young adults.

For kids, playing video games is one of the most important activities of their daily lives. Aside from doing their home works, most of these children spent time playing video games, and most probably spent more time playing as compared to the time spent in doing their homework. It is not only a trend for kids but for young adults and adults as well. From the time it was invented it has evolved into a more exciting and challenging media games of all time. Technological advancement has made it even more exciting for the players to play it and challenge themselves with tricks and clincher that comes with every game.

The graphics and sound effects are fascinating making the experience real for the player especially those three dimensional computer machines. The ability of the player to control and maneuver the situation made it more even exciting. Violent video game is one type of game that has been the most out popular among players. But with the increasing number of people engaging into these computer games, a number of issues have been raised: negative and positive effects of these violent video games to children and young adults. This essay will take the position that violent video games do have negative effects on children.

One of the negative effects of these violent video games is the physiologic changes that happen while they are playing. The excitement brought about by these violent video games stimulates the sympathetic nervous system, thereby creating significant changes in the individual’s heart rate, respiration and other involuntary responses in the body. It is exciting and stressful at the same time, the stressful events could affect gastric stimulation and frequent adrenaline rush, and this adrenaline rush is what makes these players to feel “good” and makes them want to do it repeatedly.

Sympathetic nervous stimulation promotes vasoconstriction, and this vasoconstricting effect is not good as it alters cardiac mechanism. This in turn affects blood supply going to the central nervous system, causing dizziness, headache and nausea. According to Grossman & DeGaetano, “the effects of violent video games on young adults’ arousal levels, hostile feelings, and aggressive thoughts have been measured. Results indicated that college students who had played violent virtual reality game had a higher heart rate, reported more dizziness and nausea, and exhibited more aggressive thoughts in a posttest than those who had played a nonviolent game” (70-71).

Moreover, another negative effect of these violent video games to children is that it teaches the kids wrong values for reinforcement of behaviors. In psychology, there is a thing called “positive reinforcement”. It is a way of reinforcing a “good deed” or behavior by rewarding a child if the child has done a good job in school or if they behaved well. On the other hand, computer games bestow rewards on the player after killing or defeating their opponent. This process is totally the opposite of what id thought in “positive reinforcement”, the act of killing is rewarded and the purpose of “positive reinforcement” is defeated, which in turn could affects the child’s perception of what act or behavior must be rewarded. And this reward system in violent video games could affect the child’s behavior by imitating those seen and done in violent computer video games. As mentioned in the Gentile’s book, “reward increases imitation” (136).

Most of the bad effects of video games are blamed on the violence they contain. Children who play more violent video games are more likely to have increased aggressive thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and decreased prosocial helping, according to a scientific study.

College student spending too much time on online games every week tend to suffer from worsened learning ability, concentration problems, poor academic performance, and decreased interactions with other people.

Effects of Video Games on Children and Teenagers In recent years, technology has developed very rapidly. This has led to many arguably both positive and negative changes in our everyday lives. One such change was the increased accessibility of personal computers and gaming consoles as well as the introduction of numerous video games. Due to their entertainment value, these games gained popularity among children and teenagers.

It is nutritional in the sense that learning comes along while playing these violent video games, such as mastery and control and hand-eye coordination. This paper totally disagrees with this notion. There are more appropriate ways of learning these things, without jeopardizing the minds of these children of what is good and what is wrong. Example are art camps, indoor and outdoor activities that utilizes the body, where in physical, psychological and emotional aspects are given importance, which builds friendship and the values of sportsmanship, as well as maintaining a healthy active body, which computer games don’t give. Furthermore, computer video games promote isolation, aggressive behavior and a sedentary life style by sitting long hours in front of these computers.

In conclusion, violent video game has a strong correlation in children’s aggressive behavior. Violent video game has a great impact in children’s behavioral, emotional, physiological, and psychological well being. Parents are the first line of defense against the invasion into children’s lives. The decision to buy or not to buy violent video games is a true freedom and should be taken seriously. They should know the consequences of possible effects of such materials to their children. Moreover, parents, caregivers and government sector should be more careful and protective to these vulnerable children. Manufacturer should consider designing games that will teach children the good values, true manhood and moral courage; games that will provide fun, excitement, and will give visceral pleasure that is engaging and absorbing without the unnecessary violence.

Using proportionate stratified sampling, the survey respondents were selected to examine the weekly involvement in online games among college students from central Taiwan, who were divided into low-, medium- and high-involvement groups in a cluster analysis. Results of the survey were tested using a self-developed evaluation system based on working memory and response time. Totally 36 college students, or 12 students from each of the low-, medium- and high-involvement groups, were randomly selected from the population to test how involvement in online games, game-playing time and display duration affected their working memory.

Nowadays online games are like addiction for new generation. Even if the small kids are also involving so much in this online games. Due to this they isolate themselves from their own family that leads to crime, depression and many more. According to the survey, children are making crimes due to the influence of online games. So now we have to cure this fever of online games between the new generation.

SOCIAL MEDIA : BOON OR A BANE ?

YOU DON’T HAVE TO POST IT.TO PROVE IT . You must be wondering (maybe) that why am i using Capitonomy ? Obviously to emphasize. To emphasize on the state of mind a lot of people have that if their opinions are not validated by social media their opinions do not matter. But why ? Why is it so important for people to have opinions of people that do not even matter ? There is no doubt that Social Media has reshaped everything .Social Media has not only reshaped communication industry but has also redefined the ways in which we communicate and express. We have embraced it so tenaciously that social media is now an integral part of our lives. Whatever we do ,whatever we say impacts our lives directly.

I prefer calling the social media both a boon and a bane. Why boon ? Social media has made our lives comfortable than ever. It is just one click and your thoughts are expressed globally. You can talk to anybody at anytime. You can engage to people as many as you want. You can be a youtuber ,you can be a blogger, you can share your cooking recipes, you can earn online, you can teach online ,you can find jobs online , you can do anything and everything just by being on the internet and i don’t deny it at all. Had we not got a platform like this we would still be finding ways of communicating to each other. Today i am writing this article for my viewers to read and it is the easiest way i can do this. Social media has helped marketing to a big extent . Now marketing has entered a different stage. Now, it no more a one way traffic .Now marketers know their customers and customers know their marketers. It is the most cost effective platform one could get to reach a mass audience. You post a video on social media today and it goes viral next day maybe you are a celebrity with a verified ID. Social media is so strong it can make and break both at once.

But, looking at the other end, social media also turns out to be dangerous at times. Why a Bane ? There is a lot of conflict of privacy being hampered of the users. The data you share on the platform is not safe . Then, you get addicted to the social media once you are on it. Another, you start valuing yourself on the opinions of others. You look for validations which is completely not needed. You have to be YOU WITHOUT VALIDATIONS !! You also have to post or speak very specifically and very carefully because one wrong step and it costs you bad. Through social media we also tend to engage with people we do not really know and are characterized as “Internet friends” and you don’t really know who is fake and who is real.

Summing up, everything has a two way traffic. Nothing and Nobody is PERFECT. It is we who have to decide what, how, when and where to use . But, remember in a crowd if you feel something is not right, STAND FOR THE RIGHT EVEN IF IT MEANS STANDING ALONE !

How to learn programming

The most demand skill in today’s world is programming many companies want to hire people who have this skills,it can be said this is the most basic skill in today’s era. Programming is lots of fun and extraordinarily useful. It allows you be creative and also opens up a wide range of new careers for you. Here are a few tips when it comes to learning computer programming.

1. Learn by doing.

With every new subject, the sooner you start playing with the code, the faster you will learn the given concepts. Even if you blaze through an entire chapter of reading and a topic like for loops seems straightforward – so straightforward even a monkey could do it – you’ll still be scratching your head when tasked to implement the code for the first time. You’ll think, “wait, what was that one piece of syntax again?” As the saying goes, you need to “use it or lose it”.

2. Grasp the fundamentals for long-term benefits

As elementary as they may appear at first, programming fundamentals always need to come first: the better you understand them, the easier it is to learn more advanced concepts.

Code by hand. It sharpens proficiency and you’ll need it to get a job

Computer monitors become thinner, hard drives lighter, and programming languages more powerful, but coding-by-hand still remains one of the most effective methods to learn how to program. Be it on a whiteboard or notebook, coding-by-hand requires further caution, precision, and intent behind every line of code. Because unlike on a computer, you can’t run hand-written code midway through the sheet to check if the work is correct. Although more time consuming, this restriction will mold you into a more fundamentally sound developer, both in the classroom and the job market. For college exams and technical interviews – a critical component of the job interview process – you will have to code-by-hand, because not only is this good for learning, but it’s universally known to be the ultimate test for a programmer’s proficiency. So start early and get used to this old-school practice.

4.Seek out more online resources. There’s a wealth of content

If a particular concept doesn’t make sense, be it on codeacademy, in a textbook, or during class lecture, maintain your confidence and look for alternate online resources to learn the same content. Everyone learns differently, and just because one source doesn’t make sense, doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you. It means that you’re not clicking with the delivery of the material. The online resources to learn computer programming are endless, and there’s always a reddit post, youtube tutorial, or blog explanation that will make the material-at-hand crystal clear.

5 Don’t just read the sample code. Tinker with it!

Reading sample code is not enough to understand how it works. To develop a true understanding, you need to actually run the code and tinker with it. With the additions of comments and instructions, sample code is packaged to be easily digestible by the reader; but in realityit’s pretty difficult to replicate from scratch. Reading is not the same as understanding, and actually trying to write the code yourself, or at least running it, will facilitate the learning process much mo

Conclusion: Keep Calm and Keep On Coding

Despite these tips, the most important ingredient to learn programming faster is to remain confident. To do so, you should expect to fail repeatedly and be patient with your progress; because becoming an expert at anything requires hard work and time. And if a single doubt ever clouds your mind, remember that every programmer has walked this path before – none of them more destined to become a developer than you.
