Today marks the Independence Day of the American from the Great Britain. Although 4th July was declared to be federal holiday for the United States since 1941, the day is commemorated with celebrations since the 18th Century and American Revolution.
History dates back to the 18th century American Revolution which took place from 1775-1783 when there was a growing enmity between the British and the Great Britain’s 13 North American colonies. Prior to this breakout of the American Revolution in 1775, there was a growing tension between the British and the American colonies. Due to this revolution, many colonies started coming under the jurisdiction of the British who started to levy some new and expensive taxes (via Tea Tax, Stamp Act and Townshend Act) on these colonies. It resulted in the colonial protests which led to the infamous Boston Massacre. Owing to this, a group of colonial delegates decided to raise their voice against the British by denouncing the taxation and by declaring rights with respect to life, liberty, property, assembly and trial by jury. Following this on April 1775, the Revolutionary War broke out owing to the desire of independence by the Americans from the Great Britain. On 7th June, a delegate from Virginia, Richard Henry Lee proposed a motion for independence to the Continental Congress. Subsequently, on 2nd July, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of Lee’s resolution of independence for the Americans and finally on 4th July, 1776, 13 colonies drafted the Declaration ofIndependence which was drafted by Thomas Jefferson.
Now there is a bit of debate as to which day should be considered to be celebrated as the American Independence Day. Should it be 2nd July, when the Continental Congress actually voted for the independence and when John Adams of Massachusetts (a proponent of Colonial Independence) wrote to his wife saying that July 2 “will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival” with parades, pomps, guns, bombs, illumination and bells all across the continent. Or should it be 4th July, when the Declaration of Independence was finally adopted by the Continental Congress.
An interesting fact about 4th July is that both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on 4th July (although at different years).
So be it 2nd July or 4th July, Americans have, since the end of Revolutionary War, continued to celebrate the American Independence on 4th July. Early celebrations included organizing mock funerals of George III as a symbol of liberty. We all know that in the aftermath of the China-India border skirmish the Government of India has banned fifty nine Chinese apps over concerns on the safety and security of user data and privacy of citizens. There has been widespread support of the decision among the public. But all decisions have some pros and cons. The decision to ban apps has apparently affected some groups in the country. Many teenagers are upset particularly about the ban of two affordable online shopping platforms— Shein and Club Factory. But the worst affected group is TikTok users. TikTok is a Chinese creative video sharing social networking service app which is used to create short dance, lip sync, comedy performances. It has over twelve crore users across the country, preceded only by China and the USA. TikTok’s rank is just after Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Now people can neither use it nor download from the play stores. Most people are happy about the ban of TikTok. But it has hit hard those who by being certified TikTokers were earning from it.
TikTok celebrities like Jannat Zubair, Riya Kishanchandani, Ashnoor Kaur and many more, who have over one million followers, have applauded the decision of the government. They have stated that the app was just for entertainment purpose through which some of them tried to give good contents— self-help, DIY videos, lifestyles, tech-hacks and lots more— to their audience. TikTok also provided many opportunities to common people. Some of them had joined the app one or two years ago after quitting their stable jobs. They had confidence about the prospects of the app and found by it a new and interesting job to entertain the followers and brand endorsements. They are in distress as there are only two paths opened to them— either join the YouTube platform or apply for jobs. The netizens are busy sharing hilarious memes, funny posts, GIFs and insulting the state of the users at present. But in one way trolling them for ‘unemployment’ during this pandemic situation is a form of apathy. Those who were earning from TikTok was not doing anything illegal— till the ban— and it is better to be sympathetic about their plight in such trying times. The TikTokers are urging their fans to follow them in their other social media accounts. The ban came into effect on 29 June. The TikTokers have started using Instagram and YouTube links to pursue their craft.
In India more than around 660 million people have installed the TikTok app since 2017. This is the second time TikTok faced trouble with the Indian government. This application was blocked last year after the court ruled that it could expose children to sexual predators, pornography and cyber bullying. It was reinstated a week later after it successfully appealed the court.
Following Prime Minister Modi’s ‘atmanirbharata’ policy some people have started looking for new digital homes. The homegrown short-video application ‘Chingari’ claims that after the ban of TikTok, it has gained tremendous number of followers. It has crossed 3.5 million downloads and around one lakh download per hour since then. ‘Mitron’, another app like TikTok, is in the market. But the domestic app lack the trending filters and have some user-interface issues. Sometimes the phones hang after using it. The app developers have stated that it will take a few more months to be better than the Chinese apps. Hopefully the claim comes true.
India on Tuesday successfully conducted separate trials of two variants of supersonic cruise missile BrahMos to check its capability to hit targets with precision and accuracy, Defence sources said.
A land-attack version of the missile was test-launched from a mobile autonomous launcher at Launch Pad-3 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur near here at around 8.30 am.
Its air force variant was fired in the afternoon when a fighter jet of the IAF flew from Kalaikunda airbase and launched the missile towards an air-borne target over the Bay of Bengal near here.

The trials, carried out to check the capability of the missile to hit targets with pinpoint accuracy, were successful, meeting all the parameters, a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) source said.
The BrahMos missile is a medium-range ramjet supersonic cruise missile capable of being launched from submarines, warships, fighter jets or land. The 2.5-tonne missile has a strike range of nearly 300 kilometres.
The first extended version of the missile with a strike range of 450 km was successfully tested on March 11, 2017, Defence sources said. A shorter range land-attack version of the BrahMos was earlier successfully test-fired from the ITR at Chandipur on September 30, 2019.
Similarly, the IAF had conducted successful trials of BrahMos missiles from Trak Island in Andaman and Nicobar Islands on October 22 this year.

BrahMos is a joint venture of the DRDO of India and the NPOM of Russia. The missile is operational with the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.

China’s two-time Olympic badminton champion Lin Dan announced his retirement in a social media post on Saturday (July 4), thanking his family and fans.
The news means that the 36-year-old, who took golds at the Beijing and London Games, will not be competing in the next Olympics in Tokyo.
The great Chinese badminton player was well known by the name of lindan and was loved worldwide. He ended his fantastic career by winning each and every title in the sport of badminton.
“Even after 20 years, I even have to mention goodbye to the chinese national team and It is very difficult to speak it out,” he said on social media platform Weibo.
According to the Chinese Badminton Association, Lin submitted a formal retirement application a few days ago.
Given his personal preference and his current situation, the national badminton national team accepted his retirement. “I’ve dedicated everything to the sport I love. My family, coaches, team mates and fans have accompanied and helped me through many happy times and difficult moments,” the Chinese media quoted Lin as saying within the retirement announcement.
“Now I’m (nearly) 37 years old, and my physical fitness and pain no longer allow me to fight side by side with my teammates,” he added.
Lin, arguably the greatest player in the sport’s history, also won all the major titles, including five gold medals at the world championships between 2006 and 2013 and six All England crowns.

The British schedules of different castes, especially those of very low or Untouchable (Dalit–see Glossary) groups, later became the basis for affirmative-action programs in independent India that allowed some members of the most oppressed caste groups access to good education and high-paying jobs.Religious, caste, and regional diversity exist in India against a background of poverty. At independence in 1947, the British left India in terrible condition. The country emerged from World War II with a rudimentary scientific and industrial base and a rapidly expanding population that lived primarily in villages and was divided by gross inequalities in status and wealth.
Under the leadership of Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first prime minister (1947-64), India addressed its economic crisis through a combination of socialist planning and free enterprise. Importance of Environment
We truly cannot understand the real worth of the environment. But we can estimate some of its importance that can help us understand its importance. It plays a vital role in keeping living things healthy in the environment. Likewise, it maintains the ecological balance that will keep check of life on earth. It provides food, shelter, air, and fulfills all the human needs whether big or small. Moreover, the entire life support of humans depends wholly on the environmental factors. In addition, it also helps in maintaining various life cycles on earth. Most importantly, our environment is the source of natural beauty and is necessary for maintaining physical and mental health.
Benefits of the Environment
The environment gives us countless benefits that we can’t repay our entire life. As they are connected with the forest, trees, animals, water, and air. The forest and trees filter the air and absorb harmful gases. Plants purify water, reduce the chances of flood, maintain natural balance and many others. Moreover, the environment keeps a close check on the environment and its functioning, It regulates the vital systems that are essential for the ecosystem. Besides, it maintains the culture and quality of life on earth. The environment regulates various natural cycles that happen daily. These cycles help in maintaining the natural balance between living things and the environment. Disturbance of these things can ultimately affect the life cycle of humans and other living beings. The environment has helped us and other living beings to flourish and grow from thousands of years. The environment provides us fertile land, water, air, livestock and many essential things for survival.
Cause of Environmental Degradation
Human activities are the major cause of environmental degradation because most of the activities humans do harm the environment in some way. The activities of humans that cause environmental degradation is pollution, defective environmental policies, chemicals, greenhouse gases, global warming, ozone depletion, etc. All these affect the environment badly. Besides, these overuse of natural resources will create a situation in the future where there will be no resources for consumption. And the most basic necessity of living air will get so polluted that humans have to use bottled oxygen for breathing. Above all, increasing human activity is exerting more pressure on the surface of the earth which is causing many disasters in an unnatural form. Also, we are using the natural resources at a pace that within a few years they will vanish from the earth.
To conclude, we can say that it is the environment that is keeping us alive. Without the blanket of environment, we won’t be able to survive. Moreover, the environment’s contribution to life cannot be repaid. Besides, still what the environment has done for us, in return we only have damaged and degraded it.we should take a precautionary measures to protect and save our environment.
On 4 July 1902 at Belur Math (Beluṛ Maṭh is the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, founded by Swami Vivekananda), near Kolkata a great soul, great human being and legendary figure left for heavenly abode leaving behind his teachings and activities which no Indians can forget, even, many in the world remember him for the same. Because of his initiative Ramakrishna Mission as a spiritual and social service organisation is popular in the world. During natural calamities etc., services rendered by the Mission are known to all. It has to be agreed that because of his participation in the World Parliament of Religion in Chicago in 1893 Indian yogic practices and culture got popularity in the world particularly in the Western countries. Swami Vivekananda mesmerised the audience by his eloquent speech in Convention of Parliament of Religions held in Chicago, 1893.
The Vice President of India, on this date of 4 July 2020, while paying tribute to Swami Vivekananda stated “I pay my respectful tributes to Swami Vivekananda ji on his death anniversary today. He was a towering genius whose keen intellect, vast knowledge and supreme oratorial skills made him one of the tallest spiritual leaders of India”.
Swami Vivekananda was born on 12 January 1863 in Kolkata then Calcutta. His real name in school / college was Narendranath Dutta and pet name was “Biley”. By this (“Biley”) name parents used to call him. Although he is considered a key personality in introduction of Vedanta philosophy and Yoga to Western countries mainly in USA and Europe but humanity was his thought. He was a positive and broad-minded person with the feeling for all human beings irrespective of caste, creed and religion. To get an in-depth idea about his philosophy few lines from his speeches are quoted here, “All power is within you, you can do anything and everything. Believe in that; do not believe that you are weak. You can do anything and everything, without even the guidance of any one. Stand up and express the divinity within you. Arise, Awake, and Sleep no more. Within each of you there is the power to remove all wants and all miseries. Believe in this, and that power will be manifested”.
Love and affection towards others is reflected from his saying, “All expansion is life, and all contraction is death. All love is expansion, all selfishness is contraction. Love is therefore the only law of life”. His positive feeling towards different religious is realized by this discourse, “The Christian is not to become a Hindu or a Buddhist, nor a Hindu or a Buddhist to become a Christian. But each must assimilate the spirit of the others and yet preserve his individuality and grow according to his own law of growth”. He further told, “Feel like Christ, you will be a Christ; feel like Buddha and you will be a Buddha. It is feeling that is the life, the strength, the vitality, without which no amount of intellectual activity can reach God.” Thus one can easily understand Swami Vivekananda’s feeling towards human beings.
He was great believer of welfare of humanity and hard work without selfish attitude. In his words, “It is a tremendous error to feel helpless. Do not seek help from anyone. We are our won help. If we cannot help ourselves, there is none to help us. The moment you fear, you are nobody. It is fear that is the great cause of misery in the world”. His patriotic fervour can be understood through this line, “The soil of India is my highest heaven, the good of India is my good and repeat and pray day and night…….O Thou Mother of Strength, take my weakness, take my unmanliness and make me a man!” He was firmly believed on one’s power and soul, “You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul”.

In the no of cases, India may be going to become 3rd biggest country tag but the good news is that 3.9 lakh patients already recovered from this virus. It is really a very good news and the no of recovered cases are equal to 60% of whole cases in the nation.
It might be noticed that the no of cases are increasing day by day. The cases of Corona Virus is 6.4 lakh aprox. which is really something terrible. But nobody have to panic because the recovery rate is very good in India as compared to other countries.

The percentage of recovery cases are good but although it’s very hard to stopping or slowdown of cases, but through proper precautions we can ensure our safety and when everyone trying for his own safety. Then the situation automatically comes under control. This period is very crucial for all of us.
