Spread the Flowers of Happiness

“Never become someone’s happiness, instead add happiness into their lives”. You must be a teenager, an adult or maybe a 70 year oldie, but do you really know what happiness means, what things gives you the spark of happiness or what all things make the butterflies dance in your stomach. We human beings tend to find happiness at every step of our lives, be it our crush, our pets, cooking or be it any other thing, we always think of being happy at every stage of our lives. Now the thing which I am talking about is different, it’s not about being happy it’s about spreading happiness, making the others happy and contibuting something to the society. Money is a materialistic and perishable which will not stay with us forever and which can only make us happy for a short period of time, but happiness is immortal, we will remember the moments of happiness till the last breath of our lives and it will always add a spark in us. In the same way if we follow the ” give and take” rule, contribute happiness to the society, we can master the art of living, we can live with a happy heart and hence look at the society with a different perspective.

If you are busy or confused about how to spread happiness follow these steps to enlighten your lives with different colours.

1.Be happy inorder to make someone happy: First step starts with changing yourself because if we will change ourselves, we will be able to change the others. Be happy, find happiness in small things, have patience in every situation and do not lose hope. This will give you the power to fight with every obstacle and will help you to overcome it.

2.Smile: The best mantra to be happy and to spread happiness. Don’t wait to be happy, think of the moments that make you smile, watch shows that will make you happy and just turn your rough day into a happy happy day.

3.Appreciate others: If your wife makes tasteless food with extra salt, don’t scold her or taunt her, she had put in extra efforts and gave her precious time just to make food for you, appreciate her, infact make another dish for her and spend a lovely happy time. This will not only bring a smile on her face but will also show a sign that you love her and care for her.

4.Be a good listener: There are endless problems going on in everyone’s family these days but what can we do is become a good listener and listen to their problems patiently, guide them, give them a solution or else just tell them that their problems will end soon, you just have to be happy and never lose hope in the situation of crisis.

5.Be a hero for the others: Wish everyone with a smiley face and turn their dark sad days into happy days. This will help you to relieve their pain and bring a sigh of relief in their lives.

6.Feed the stray animals or help the poor: Lat but not the least, the most important part of being happy is by feeding others, is by never letting them sleep with empty stomach and always helping them as a saviour.

As you know that these are the days are of pain and suffering where people are surrounded with endless problems, depression, anxiety and other things and in this time we as a human being can help them by sharing their burden, by always telling them that no matter what happens we are like the pillars of happiness who will never leave you alone. Follow this for once and you will see the difference.

Will India have SUPERPOWERS like USA?

The world is almost ruled by powerful countries like USA, China, Japan, Russia etc. and its none of the wonder that developed countries are helping as well as exploiting the developing countries. Developing countries like India, Pakistan, Srilanka and many more… are mostly dependent on the developed countries, but the biggest question arises will India be list of the superpower countries by 2050. The answer would be yes, but unfortunately due to pandemic situation that number will rise to 2055-2060 because India faced a major setback due to this and also India build a strong relation with other countries with help of our respected Prime Minister sir. Let us look out which factors are going to help to build a nation with superpowers:

1- Economic growth

Chinese economy is based on foreign investment, while India is growing based on a more local economic sector. So if we look in future i.e. after 30-40 India will overtake as it is very slow process. We know very well that many MNCs have begun to invest tremendously in India and has started to rely on Indian engineers for their next generation products. Companies like GM, Boeing, Motorola and many others have begun to build their Research and Development facilities and Asian headquarters in India. They see more potential on Indian market. If India is able to maintain this steady growth, it can definitely become 2nd largest economy by 2050.

3) Military power

India stands on 4th rank in terms of defense with the budget of 54 billion $ and 13L+ army man. India has a total of 2,102 aircrafts and a naval strength of 295 and is ready to tackle any military emergency. India is gaining new technology and ideas from world and also our DRDO is working very efficient like wise India adopted 5th generation fighter plane from Russia and Defense Drone technology from USA and other technology too from Israel. Therefore if India increases the defense budget in next 3-4 decades, specially in Air force and cyber and New technology than India definitely can handle any worse situation.

3- Diplomacy and international relations

India’s Diplomacy is standing at a good potions no matter still there are many internal disputes but in the eyes of world India is at a better place. India is able to maintain relation with foreign countries in a stable and steady manner which will ultimately help the people of India. In the coming years India will be able to maintain permanent seat in UN Security Council which will be biggest achievement in diplomatic point of view.

4) Population

India has highest number of fresh minds, they are handled correctly with innovative and interesting education system than none of the country can stop India to be listed in top 5 countries. Youth is the biggest asset of India and no other country has this much amount of youth in their population. In the coming years, some of the strong nations of the world will face problem of decrease in populations and this will lead to, a decline in workforce, India will face no such problem.

India’s education system need to be modified a bit and student instead of memorizing theories, they should be taught to learn and understand the concept. The subject related to entrepreneurship should be added at early age so that they get knowledge of business at early age which would help them and ultimately help the nation.

Does CONNECTIVITY really means DISCONNECTION ?

I FEAR THE DAY WHEN TECHNOLOGY WILL SURPASS OUR HUMAN INTERACTION. THE WORLD WILL HAVE A GENERATION OF IDIOTS

~ALBERT EINSTEIN

Our era has come to see the vital importance of digital technology in our daily lives. It allows us to unlock a huge collection of information and communication data. Each kind of task, be it a regular task or a job specific task requires digital proficiency or literacy. Digital literacy can be defined as “the ability to use digital technology, communications tools, and or networks to access, manage, integrate, evaluate, and create information in order to function in a knowledge society.

The utilization of digital devices such as computers, TV, mobile phones and video game has escalated substantially over the past few years globally. Technology has helped humanity get things done faster and there is no doubt or shortage of recognition of these increased benefits to mankind.

How far both Digital media and social media have become integrated in the lives of most of the global population is shown here as at 31st March 2011, with the exception of some third world countries such as Liberia and Ethiopia. At the other end of the scale Asia has the largest percentage of internet user at 44% of all users globally from its population of 3.8 billion, a penetration of 24%. China is by far the highest population of users at 485 million and India at 100 million.

We live in a digital environment ; just short of being pixelated or virtual ourselves, the things around us continue to get smarter, faster, more accurate and the connection becoming increasingly more digital. Customer relationships are digital; Business channels are digital; Our conversations are digital, and our social interactions are slowly being affected by this digital world. With the existing of new and emerging technologies through the past decade, it is an undeniable fact that digital technologies have made a significant  contribution to improvements in our lives. It has made our lives effortless, placing more of our daily activities to the online web and being able to communicate across long distances. For example, currently being on exchange has allowed me to connect with my family back home via FaceTime an online video application.

Computer systems and the Internet have altered human interactions arguably in the most critical ways when compared to non-computer technological systems that have been developed in the last few centuries. The alterations in how humans communicate with each other in the modern day – which is largely via smart apps, through the Internet/WiFi – has both good and bad consequences. The wide availability of Internet-capable smart devices means that it is now possible for loved-ones to be in close contact wherever they are on earth

While technology-

  • has helped bridging a global gap by connecting people via the digital world, This bridge has allowed multitudes to learn about the world, and connect with others, in ways that were previously impossible
  • The Internet has also provided endless source of resources, educational materials, and learning systems for people to learn or work from their own home, without interacting with anyone
  • Additionally, for social interactions, people often meet friends or dates using apps, from the convenience and comfort of their own home. This is contrasted with a previous age of meeting friends and dates via day-to-day mingling outside of one’s own home.

As technology are becoming more prevalent in everyday life, the assessment of technology’s presence in relationships and its impact on how humans interact with one another is an emerging area of study. There are diff outlooks on the relationship between technology and human interactions and relationships. It is purported that the integration of technologies in everyday life can have intense effects on human relationships.

Nevertheless, the downsides of technologies cannot be ignored; which is why I will be discussing the negative implications that the digital technology can bring into the social face-to-face interactions of our relationships today.

Humans are made to form relationships since we have an innate longing to share our lives with family, friends and partners. This social interaction is important but often intricate as people take in face to face communication in different ways. The nature of social interaction has changed as technological advances have provided new methods of contact. Consider the evolution from in-person contact and letter writing to the telegraph and telephone and, most recently, to ever more individualized and electronic forms of contact such as cell phones, video calls and social media (e.g., Facebook). We know very little about how different forms of communication influence social relations, health, and well-being. However today, instead of spending time in person with friends, we are consistently choosing to communicate via online mechanisms such as applications like Facebook, IMessage, Snapchat and Instagram. These four are only some of the new ways that offer ways of interaction and engagement allowing us to be as physically close to one another as possible in a virtual world

Technology has both eliminated a gap and created one. Virtual distance is the phenomenon where people are physically together but detached from each other due to being completely absorbed with their technological device. This is called Virtual Distance. Additionally, modern Technology is often linked to an over exposure to EMFs, and is linked to excessive blue light exposure, while developing children not only face possible cognitive changes due to constant exposure to the above factors, but often grow up in a possibly more isolated manner due to constantly being “wired” to their smart devices instead of physically spending time with friends.

However, the biggest difference: conversations that happen over technology lack content. You never really know when someone is being sarcastic, funny, or serious. Misunderstandings, miscommunication and assumptions impact how we view others, and happen very often when there is no face-to-face communication. Online contact still falls short and fails to deliver personal touch despite all these advances

Conversations that now happen through social media and have taken the place of traditional interactions is causing people to leave their houses less and less since they do not need to leave to communicate with others. This can lead to social isolation.

  • High level of usage of Digital Technologies are associated with decline in communication within family members.
  • Domestication of Digital Technologies in household & technologisation of childhood has led to a bedroom culture & digital divide in a negative way
  • There is an individualism & privatization within a household regarding digital technologies

It is not uncommon for people to prefer texting instead of actually meeting, or at the very least, calling and thus hearing another human voice. It is also not uncommon for people to walk around, or even sit with others, head bowed to their digital device without saying a word or even noticing anything about anyone else. Human interactions and relationships have thus largely decreased, while intimacy and human-to-human interactions have been replaced with human-to-machine interactions. Technology has helped to modify human behavior by creating a gap between people and reducing intimacy. In an age where robots and AI are slowly replacing humans within the workplace, this interaction between humans and machines is only set to increase.

One of the main areas of interaction that has been impacted by Virtual Distance and technology besides parenting is dating. With the advent of popular dating apps like Tinder, people do not utilize social skills to meet potential mates, but simply swipe through a “catalog” of people. Additionally, ghosting (simply disappearing from the digital world when one is no longer interested) is often very prevalent, which results from a lack of social skills – or courage – to end a relationship in the old fashioned way. Thus, virtual distance directly results in the reduction of refined social skills that was previously universal.

CONNECTIVITY REALLY MEANS DISCONNECTION

Though technology has helped to bridge global gaps, devices and social media/messaging apps, for instance, have largely helped to create a larger disconnect between people. Increased isolation, decrease in social interaction and social skills, and increased human-to-machine interactions are all a result of an excessive use of technology, which has created a wall between many people globally

HONOR KILLINGS -not so honorable!

For ages the Indian society has been embroiled down by many social evils and many of them were pertaining to woman. Women have always been on the target ranging from female infanticide, dowry, domestic violence, prostitution, rape  etc. although with changing times people have been educated and changed their perception and these practices have been reduced in some places but till date there are certain social evils  prevalent in not only our country but many other countries , one such act is of HONOR KILLING.

According to a survey there are more than 300 cases of honor killing in last 3 years in India. It is one of the most tenacious forms of gender violence – and also the least acknowledged.

In India, women are not considered individual entity  with lives and choices of their own. Instead, they are seen as the torchbearers of family ‘honor’. The “honor (ijjat)” of a family, society or the community is so called the ‘purity of women. Hence, instead of being considered as independent individuals with their own choices, women’s lives are controlled by an honor code.

Human Rights Watch defines “honor killings” as, Honor crimes are acts of violence, usually murder, committed by male members of family against females of the family who are seemed to have brought dishonor upon the family. The mere perception that a woman has acted in a manner to bring “dishonor” to the family is enough to trigger an attack. Sometimes men can also be the victims of honor killings by members of the family of a woman with whom they are considered to have an inappropriate relationship, or by partaking in homosexual activities.

Honor killings are often a result of strongly misogynistic views towards women, and also  the position of women in society. In these traditionally patriarchal  societies women are dependent first on their father and then on their husband, whom they are expected to obey. Women are contemplated  as property and not as individuals with their own agency. Violence is seen as a way of ensuring compliance and to avert the rebellion.

The concept of ownership has turned women into a commodity that can be exchanged, bought and sold”.In such cultures, women are restricted to take control over their bodies and sexuality: these are the properties of the males of the family, the father (and other male relatives) who must ensure virginity until marriage; and then the husband to whom his wife’s sexuality is subordinated—a woman must not sabotage the ownership rights of her guardian by engaging in premarital sex or adultery.

The occurrences of honor killings are extremely  difficult to determine and estimates vary widely. In most countries data on honor killings isn’t collected systematically, and most of those killings are reported by the families as suicides or accidents.  Murder is not the only form of honor crime, other crimes such as acid attacks, abduction, mutilations, and domestic violence occur too.  The cultures in which honor killings take place are usually considered “collectivist cultures”, where the family’s pride is more important than the individuals life.

LETS TAKE FEW RECENT EXAMPLES OF THESE HIDEOUS KILLINGS IN INDIA

Couple killed in Tamil Nadu

25-year-old Nandhish from the Dalit community fell in love with Swathi, an upper caste woman. The couple got married and lived together for a few months before they were both murdered by the couple’s father. Swathi’s father has confessed to murdering them and throwing the bodies into a river in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district.

Honour killing caught on CCTV

Amrutha, who belongs to a wealthy upper caste family, fell in love with Pranay from the Dalit community and the couple got married. In September 2018, while returning after a medical check-up, Pranay was hacked to death in broad daylight in front of his pregnant wife. The gruesome murder that shook south India was caught on CCTV. Amrutha’s father confessed to have plotted the murder as he did not approve of Pranay’s caste and lack of wealth.

Minor killed allegedly by father

In Chandigarh, a 16-year-old girl was found dead in mysterious circumstances in October. Why ??? only because The girl was reported to be in love with a 19-year-old from her village. The girl’s parents had earlier filed a rape case against him.

And recently on 6 may 2020 in Hisar, a woman died at a village near Uklana town of Hisar district on Monday. Her live in partner alleged an honour killing. The Village sarpanch said she died of electric shocks sustained while ironing clothes, in his police complaint, The man had an affair with the deceased for last 3years and said that her family was against their marriage.

Although honor killings are often linked with the Asian continent, especially the middle east  and South Asia. In 2000, the United Nations estimated that 5,000 women were victims of honor killings each year . The existence of ‘honor killings’ all over the world puts universal human rights under severe threat . It puts the agency of “individualism” and “choice” against the notion of collective social agency and strict norms. The right to marry comes under “right to life” enshrined by Article 21 of the Constitution of India. However, In India, the concept of free will in exercising the right to marry is considered more as a duty or social in nature, rather than an individual choice or opinion.

The term “honor” crime is somewhat misleading because it implicit that such crimes are “honorable”. These acts of violence, attack something more than women’s bodies: they additionally strike their challenge to oppressive patriarchy. By adding the word “honor” to killing, we use the language of those who rationalize  this loathsome crime on the basis of “honorable” motives. We use the language of their excuse. We must stop doing this. The term “honor killing” not only gives too much power to the culprit, but is offensive to survivors and women. Instead, we need to see the crime through the eyes of those assaulted.

It is true that these culprits invariably invoke their slighted “honor”. But there is a further common feature: this violence seeks to punish women for seeking to exercise independent choice, and to flout not only the wishes of their families and societal  expectation – for daring to be free. That’s the heart of the matter, and that’s the right lens to view the problem through.

Anxiety makes you the prisoner of your own mind

What a dreadful night it was, when my body was as cold as ice, I was frozen in the month of may and was constantly shaking with the fear of losing someone. Thinking about that dreadful situation itself gives me anxiety. Coping up with anxiety is not at all easy my friends, it is like climbing up the Mt.Everest with naked feet, where you feel the chills of the cold wind and the hot aggressive waves of heat passing through your spinal cord. Why does this happens, why does the blood pressure dances like a columbus. Why does the brain cells dance like a hippi and why do we feel nervous or tensed as if there’s a war going outside our house and the people will eat us up.

Everydayhealth.com

Difference between anxiety and getting anxious

Anxiety is a feeling of nervousness, uneasiness or feeling worried. When I was lying cold in the bed, I was constantly shaking and my mind felt numb, thinking about what will happen next, why is my life like this, should I call out for help, should I share it with the others? But you are not able to do anything at that moment, you just want to stay still for a while, even listening to songs never helps. You just want to be alone with your thoughts because anxiety leaves you lifeless and unhappy. This is what anxiety is, a monster under your bed, which enters in your mind like an unwelcomed guest and creates a havoc in your body.

Feeling anxious is a different thing, it is not constant, it comes according to the situation. Anxiousness is a feeling of distressed, uneasiness or stressed about a particular matter for a short span of time. For example, many of us feel anxious while giving a speech, examination or also at the time of giving an interview. Many of us feel anxious while talking to someone, while stepping out of our comfort zone or even going to the parties. The symptoms remain the same that you will feel cold or sweaty but the condition of anxiety is even worse.

There are various kinds of anxiety disorders and the two of them are:

1.Panic Disorder: It is a state of disorder where you get constant panic attacks and you will feel as if you are in real danger or the world is going to end. It is a feeling of terror and you lose your control over things, over your behaviour. They can occur anytime, anywhere, where a person feels that this is a harmful or dangerous situation and it can cause a panic attack. The symptoms of panic attack are feeling sweaty, having numb toes or feeling hot or cold.

2.Social Anxiety Disorder(SAD): Also known as Social Phobia, it a situation where one has abnormal amount of anxiety and fear of going out and having social interactions or even talking to the strangers. It is a situation where the person feels that he/she is being watched and judged by people. As a result people often avoid going out and do not interact with them. The symptoms can be a rapid heart rate, nausea and feeling sweaty.

How does the society takes it and how should we deal with it?

Mental illness is still a stigma in our society, where people feel anxious about sharing it with others because they feel that the society will mock at them and will never understand their situation. Over the years the word ‘anxiety’ has been thrown around lossely. Society takes it up as a condition of normal stress or tension, but they do not understand the real meaning of anxiety, they don’t know that it is a monster which threatens or blackmails us. But the society will never accept this, they have painted a different picture for themselves regarding ‘anxiety’ and always think that it is not more than stress from which we will get rid of after sometime. We should not focus on what the society thinks, we should focus on our health and fight with this monster inorder to get cured from this mental-illness. We should try to maintain calm and should not panic and try to meditate. Doing regular exercise will help us to get rid of this problem. We should always think positive in every situation and try to stay away from the things that can bring us near to the anxiety. The biggest cure for this problem is that we should share our problems with the person on whom we trust and who will never mock at us, be it family or friends. Society will always try to put you down and will always mock at you and you should always try to ignore them because they are the main reason for anxiety and mental illness. You have to accept that it will take time to get rid of this and have to follow the right steps and the right therapy and accept that you are still a normal person, nothing can disturb your life.

Pride Month 2020: #21daysallychallenge

Pride march

Every year, in the month of June, the LGBTQ community hosts pride celebration in various ways. It is a month long celebration of diversity, love, acceptance, inclusion and unabashed self-pride. Various events are held across the globe during this commemorative month as a way of recognising the LGBTQ community and their influence around the world.

Why the month of June?

The month of June was chosen for LGBTQ pride month to memorialise the riots held by LGBTQ community members against a police raid that occured at the Stonewall Inn, a gay club, in New York City on June 28, 1969.

The message was clear; to peacefully protest and raise political and social awareness of the issues facing by the community. The queer community wanted to be open about their sexual orientation and be free to go anywhere without the fear of being arrested.

Pride Month 2020: #21daysallychallenge

This year, because of the social distancing norms across the world, many pride parades and events are on hold. But still we would not be restricted to celebrate all forms of love. Due to the global pandemic concerns, this year a different approach have been taken by the Pride Circle to take aware and conscious steps to acknowledge and redress stereotypes and biases about the LGBTQ community and bring about social change.

The aim of the challenge is to bring together individuals and influencers from over 28 countries and 70 organisations to establish a global community of LGBTQ allies. It started on June 1, there will be 21 mini-challenges extended over a period of 21 days in the month of June. As per the Pride Circle’s Statement, “this is based on science that it takes 21 days to form a new habit. Anyone can participate free-of-cost and sign up for it by clicking on the link – https://thepridecircle.com/21daysallychallenge/

Some of the challenges of the initiative include building awareness about the existence and journey of an LGTBQ person, for instance, read or watch or find out about the coming out story of an LGTBQ person, laws associated with the community; show your allyship, test your biasness- have you ever made fun of or discriminated an LGBTQ. Wear something symbolic or just shout out, let the world know that you’re an ally. Build your knowledge about the community. Learn about the art and literature by them and go all out. Don’t hold back, talk about the stigma and bias against LGBTQ persons.

In our country, decriminalisation of homosexuality is yet to complete 2 years, this initiative which has sprouted in India could become our leap of faith to ignite a global movement to look out for equal rights and fair treatment for the people belonging to that community. Allies would be able to contribute in creating a safe space where people of every sexual orientation is welcome and respected. It will help bridge the gap and let people understand the importance of treating others, who may be different from them, with equality, fairness, acceptance and mutual respect. The #21daysallychallenge could be a favourable step in the direction of building and inclusive and conscientious society with support and trust.

The movement is supported by various organisations, along with eminent academic institutions such as IIMs, IITs, NMIMS, MICA and the only school in India participating in Pride month celebrations, Tagore International School, Vasant vihar. This is a great achievement towards creating safer schools, workplaces and society for the coming generation. Such support from organisations like these is the need of the hour as it plays a vital role in the bigger fight to advance the community and promote inclusion in all spheres of life.

Now, more than ever, we, the people of India, should encourage everyone who believes in LGTBQ equality to come out and be an ally or support in the best possible way. It’s time we move towards being a more accepting society and initiatives like these is the fundamental step towards that larger goal of “vasudhaiva kutumbakam”, i.e. “the world is one family”.
