Comparative Study b/w Parliamentary and Presidential System of Government

Parliamentary system is a democratic form of government in which the party with the greatest representation in parliament (legislature) forms the govt., its leader becoming prime minister or chancellor. Presidential form of govt. is a democratic and republican govt. in which a head of govt. leads an executive branch. The head of govt. is in almost cases also the head of the state, which is called the President. India follows a parliamentary form of govt. modelled on Britain’s.

Features

Features of Presidential system are that the executive can veto acts by the legislature, the President has a fixed tenure and cannot be removed by a vote of no confidence in legislature. The President has the power to pardon or commute judicial sentences awarded to criminals and the President is elected directly by the people or by the people or by an electoral college whereas features of parliamentary system are- close relationship b/w the legislature and the executive, executive is responsible to the legislature, there are two executive i.e. real executive and titular executive, bicameral legislature, no fixed tenure, leadership of Prime Minister.

Merits

Merits of Presidential system are- seperation of powers, expert govt., stability and less influence of the party system.

Merits of Parliamentary system are- better coordination b/w executive and legislature, prevents authoritarianism, responsible govt., represents diverse groups, flexibility in the system.

Demerits

Demerits of Presidential system are- less responsible executive, deadlocks b/w executive and legislature, rigid govt., spoils system as the system gives the President sweeping powers of patronage.

Demerits of Parliamentary system are- no seperation of powers, unqualified legislators, instability, failure to take prompt decision because there is no fixed tenure, party politics is more.

Conclusion

The Presidential system is better for one because of its seperation of powers, the role of judiciary and the govt. accountability to its people. We should ensure a system of govt. whose leaders can focus on governance rather than on staying in power. The present parliamentary system has been tried and tested for nearly 70 years. It can be reformed thoroughly to remove the challenges thrown up by it. Also, there is a need to reform the electoral processes to make democracy more robust.

Facts to maintain your bright canvas as new one

REMOVING YELLOW STAINS FROM WHITE VANS

It is always pretty good to wear bright colors of shoes and clothes that will make our impression look admirable. But as days goes these attractive ones get prone to stains which makes us worried. Especially white canvas vans are really awesome while shining but it’s becomes worse to removes stains. As most probably we lose the shine and love we have on it after washing as the material it’s brightness.

  1. Procedure to remove stains without losing its glowing

Let us first wipe of some solid dirt or dust hanging on the vans softly with a smooth cloth and by using a brush gently. Then it is necessary to remove laces from shoes and wash them separately as combined cleaning may not be proper. Further, we can sink them in a broad vessel or utensil with lukewarm water so we can clean them preciously.

Along with the water it is recommended to add some detergent including hydrogen peroxide and allow them to penetrate in the dirt for few hours. After the appropriate duration of soaking, we can start to rub particles attached to the shoes aggressively with a flexible brush that can go through corners and edges of the footwear. With constant scrubbing we can find the stain begins to fade.

  • Removing stains after the period of soaking

Since it has soaked well, we can be vigorous while rubbing shoes with brush to make them shine as earlier. Put your effort more to bring out your precious footwear to a useable one. The hard we scrub we can bring back it as brand new one with perfection in it. At this right time, vinegar can be used with the previous things in the utensil so it takes away the stain completely while rinsing.

It is advisable to make them dry in indoors after the whole process of removal of solid and dried impurities on it. Allow it to dry for nearly 7-8 hours so that you can make use of them the next day.

After the shoes has dried you can notice the glowing beauty of your ever-lasting, lovable thing attracting to wear it on your legs again. Once in five days try to wipe them gently so dust won’t get accumulated and becomes harder as well as color remains same.

  • Precautions and measurements for storage

Always be cautious while storing them as they require careful handling of preservation as mistakes may happen which after it will become useless instead to throw away. So, try to store them in separate cardboard boxes as they can preserve shoes for years as fresh. Store canvas vans in a dry and places where solid things and items are kept to avoid destruction or loss of material instead of placing them near fluid materials. As in certain situations by mistake it may get spoilt.

Whatever thing it is our outmost care makes them to last longer and be ours precious one always. Preserving and protecting them from external factors like dust and stains from surrounding is the crucial role for us to make a product last longer and based on the handling of them how we use them wisely.

Rachid Yazami, a Moroccan innovator, breaks the world record for charging EV batteries in under 10 minutes.

Electric vehicles are sweeping our cities, and an overwhelming number of individuals are choosing to commute in electric vehicles. Electric mobility is unquestionably the way of the future, given the environmental advantages offered by these vehicles and the commitment of both manufacturers and drivers.

Rachid Yazami, a Moroccan innovator, revealed a few weeks ago:

We broke a new world record a few weeks ago by charging an electric car battery in just 10 minutes. I hope that morocco will succeed in developing and marketing ultra-rapid chargers.

Statement by Rachid El Yazami

Dr. Rachid Yazami, the inventor of one of the most important components of lithium-ion batteries, is working on a method to charge an electric vehicle in less than 10 minutes.

Given the recent technological advancements, electric vehicles still face obstacles in becoming the preferred mode of transportation and replacing combustion engine vehicles. One of the most significant concerns is slow battery charging, however, it appears that this impediment is coming to an end.

Dr. Rachid Yazami, the inventor of the graphite anode, a critical lithium-ion battery component, is working on a method that will allow the electric car to be charged in as little as 10 minutes. A breakthrough in these aspects will be a watershed moment in electric transportation, virtually equating the time spent charging the vehicle’s battery to just the time spent replenishing traditional fuel.

According to The Register, Dr. Rachid Yazami is working on a new quick charging system for electric automobiles that beats any other technology now available. Your technology, according to current testing, can charge a high-density battery in under 10 minutes, which itself is seven times faster than Tesla.

To attain this goal, Dr. Rachid Yazami uses a different loading method than the usual one. Instead of utilizing constant current, they utilize non-linear voltammetry, which adjusts voltage instead of current.

Voltage, according to the expert, should be seen as a sequence of steps on a ladder. Every one of those rungs’ voltage must remain constant until the conditions are met and that the next rung can be advanced. During the charging process, this charging mechanism gives the batteries a break, helping them to last longer.

“Fast-charging technology improves battery life by decreasing stress”, according to Dr. Rachid Yazami. “We can preserve the battery for 10 years instead of five because we charge it in such a way that it is not subjected to high temperatures or current stress. The optimal charging situation for the battery would be 10 minutes of charging time for an 800 km range.

HUMAN BODY.

The human body is a structure of a human being .our body consists of a number of biological system that carry out specific function necessary for everyday living. Human body comprises of neck head trunk arms legs hands and feet. The study of the human body in words anatomy physiology histology and embryology. Many systems and mechanisms interacts in order to maintain homeostasis with safe levels of substances such as sugar and oxygen in blood. The body is studied by health professor physiologist anatomists I am buy artist to assist them to their work.

Elements reside in trillions of cells and non cellular components of the body the adult male body is about 60% water for a total water content of some 42 litres. The content acidity and composition of the water inside and outside cells is carefully maintained the main electrolytes in body water inside cells are sodium and chloride. Now let’s look into the brief picture of the body parts the cell is the fundamental unit of life the body is also host to about the same number of non human cells as well as multicellular organism which reside in the the gastrointestinal tract and on the skin . At the maturity there are roughly 30-37 trillion cells in the body has estimate arrived at by totalling the cell numbers of all the organs of the body and cell. Cells sit in a extracellular Matrix that consist of protein success collagen surrounded under bye extracellular fluids. Tissues the study of tissues is called histology and often occurs with a microscope the body consists of four main types of tissues connective tissue nerve tissue muscular tissue and lining cells. Endothelial cells are the cells that line internal cavity including body tissues and glands organs reside within cavities within the body. These cavities include the abdomen and pleura which contains the lungs. immune systems defends the body against pathogens that may harm the body. The system comprising a network of lymphatic vessels that carry e a clear fluid called lymph. Endocrine system serve as signals from one body system to another regarding and enormous array of conditions and resulting in a variety of changes in function. Immune system provides a mechanism for the body to distinguish its own cells and tissues from outside cells and substance and to neutralize or destroy the latter by using specialised proteins such as antibodies. Circulatory system paths of of blood circulation within the human body which serves as a transportation system to transfer oxygen fuel nutrients waste products from one part to a body to another. Pulmonary circuit which pumps blood to the lungs to receive Oxygen and leave carbon dioxide and systematic circuit which carries blood from the art to the rest of the body. It consists of heart blood blood vessels articles and veins. Digestive system consists of a series of connected organs that together allowed the body to break down and observe food and remove waste the molecular takes the form of protein fat vitamin and minerals. The nervous system controls both voluntary action and sends a signal to different parts of body consists of the body’s nervous and glial cells which together form the nerves, ganglia and gray matter which intern form the brain and related structures. Endocrine system serve as liquids from one body system to another regarding and enormous array of conditions and resulting in a variety of change of function the hormones internal transfer to different tissues and regulate various body functions such as metabolism growth and sexual functions. It gives the body basic structure and the ability for movement all bones are major storage site for calcium and phosphate. Reproductive system consist of the the gonads and the internal and external sex organs the male reproductive system includes the penis and tests , the female reproductive system consists of vagina. Respiratory system consists of the nose masopharynx, trachea and lungs. It brings oxygen from the air and circulate carbon dioxide and water back into the air and executes carbon dioxide. Urinary system apps to eliminate a waste product called urea from the body it room it removes toxic material from the blood in the form of urine which carries a variety of waste molecules. And finally the skin is the body’s largest organ it protects us from the outside world and is our first defence against bacteria viruses and other pathogens are screen helps regulate body temperature and eliminate waste through perspiration.

Strengthening from the Grassroots – Ministry of Cooperation

A Ministry of Co-operation has been newly setup by the Central Government realizing the vision of ‘Sahkar se Samriddhi’ (Prosperity through Cooperation) and to give a new push and to strengthen the cooperative movement.

The Government has signaled its deep commitment to community based developmental partnership. It also fulfils the budget announcement made by the Finance Minister in 2021.

Ministry of Co-operation – The right step in the right time!

  • It will provide a separate administrative, legal and policy framework for strengthening the cooperative movement in the country.
  • It will work to streamline processes for ‘Ease of doing business’ for co-operatives and enable development of Multi-State Co-operatives (MSCS).
  • It will help deepen Co-operatives as a true people based movement reaching upto the grassroots.
  • Since the country is going through a deadly second wave of the pandemic, which has led to millions losing their means of food, this initiative comes as the right step to reform the co-operatives and help strengthen it from the grassroots.

What is a co-operative

  • According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO), a cooperative is an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise.
  • The cooperative society ensures benefit for its members and serves for the wider interest of the community as well .
  • In India, a Co-operative based economic development model is very relevant where each member works with a spirit of responsibility.
  • India is an agricultural country and laid the foundation of World’s biggest cooperative movement in the world.

Cooperatives and the Indian Constitution

  • The word “cooperatives” was added after “unions and associations” in Article 19(1)(c) under Part III of the Constitution. This enables all the citizens to form cooperatives by giving it the status of fundamental right of citizens.
  • A new Article 43B was added in the Directive Principles of State Policy (Part IV) regarding the “promotion of cooperative societies”.
  • The Constitution (97th Amendment) Act, 2011 added a new Part IXB right after Part IXA (Municipals) regarding the cooperatives working in India.

Cooperatives in India

Some examples of successful cooperatives in India

  • AMUL
  • Indian Coffee House
  • Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO)
  • Karnataka Milk Federation(KMF)
  • Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF)
  • Pratibha Mahila Sahakari Bank
  • Orissa State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation
  • Anyonya Co-operative Bank Limited

Significance of Cooperatives

  • Cooperatives provides credits and funds to its members and is also able to collect investment through voluntary contribution for the development of its members and the cooperative society.
  • Cooperatives creates a conducive environment for small and cottage industries.
  • Cooperatives provides strategic inputs for the cooperative societies.
  • Cooperatives may serve as an organisation for the poor who wish to solve their problems collectively.
  • Such an organisation softens the class conflicts and reduces the social cleavages.
  • Consumer cooperatives societies meet their consumption requirements at concessional rates.

Roadblocks in the path to Cooperatives

  • Lack of Awareness – The people are not aware about the cooperative societies.
  • Management issues – Since it does not have a trained personnel it may face management issues. Also A cooperative with a large membership turns out to be mismanaged unless some secure methods are employed to manage such co-operatives.
  • Manipulation – In the elections to the governing bodies, money became such a powerful tool that the top posts of chairman and vice-chairman usually went to the richest farmers who manipulated the organisation for their benefits

Way Forward

The pandemic has caused large scale disruptions in the economy, hence the network of cooperatives developed to help revive the economy.

The cooperatives have the ability to bring people with knowledge on the same line, together to make a stronger block and its potential can be used to develop our society. The cooperative society has the power to bring the people together and solving the problems as a community. Such stable and powerful blocks can be a powerful tool to achieve great heights.

Bpi Sports BLOX REVIEW

Bpi Sports BLOX Review

There is a new form of amino acids hitting the market, silk amino acids and this is what BLOX is all about.  Most people have heard about the branched amino acids before but this is a different form.  This product is going to take the muscle protein synthesis one step above and allow for greater progression with the workout program.

The silk amino acids provide a sustained release formula that helps to increase muscle volume and increase blood flow throughout the workout session. Bpi sports BLOX claim that they can help us gain more muscle, increase our stamina, raise our testosterone levels and a more complete recovery after workout.

According to them we can achieve the best pro anabolic product if we can have the correct amino acids in the right series. The recommended dosage for Bpi sports BLOX is water with 1 scoop added in it.  It can be taken before, during, Or after workout and we can choose from different flavors that include – orange, watermelon, green apple etc.  On the days we aren’t training,  we can take the product first thing on an empty stomach to speed recovery between sessions.

It is well said that along with improved nutrient delivery, we will get improved fatigue resistance which will enable us to perform more work in each workout session.  In addition to assisting with resistance training,  the product can also help to improve our endurance exercise performance as well by preventing the fatigue built up due to slow delivery of oxygen to muscle tissues.

This product is suited for whom?

It is suited for anybody doing intense workout or athletic training who may need a boost in their recovery capacity. It will work for those also who are dieting heavily as the additional amino acids may decrease the risk of suffering from lean muscle mass loss.

What are the ingredients used up in this product?

The product consists of amino acid blend containing alanine, glycine, serine, valine, and threonine in a specially designed matrix for optimal release.

According to other Bpi Sports BLOX review, this Supplement works with silk amino acids (SAA). They area a series of 18 specific amino acids but only five of them mentioned above concerns us.

What are the advantages of this product?

  • The main advantage is that it mixes well with water and it is highly praised for its taste.
  • Can decrease the level of fatigue experienced during a workout session.
  • Increases the level of strength gains experienced.
  • Helps in boosting protein synthesis and speeds up the muscle recovery.
  • It is available in different flavors to make consumption easier.

What are the disadvantages of this product?

  • It is still required to consume a high amount of protein in our everyday diet to optimize recovery.
  • It is expensive that any other similar product in the market .
  • Some people may experience slight stomach discomfort if taking in higher dose level.
  • Majority of people also expressed their disappointment regarding after workout performance.
  • Furthermore, the formula also does not assure us how much of every amino acid we will be getting so the results will most definitely vary.
  • People also pointed out that since the experiments were done on rats, the dosage needed for humans should likely be higher.

Conclusion

Overall, this product is a good aid to our workout program as long as we are taking a proper diet. Some people tend to believe the amino acids they are taking in their diet isn’t as important but that is not the case at all.

It is important that we consume sufficient protein in addition to these supplements to get the full spectrum of amino acids. Although all the scientific evidence regarding this are still being questioned. With it being on the expensive side, people should be assured more of its effectiveness rather than its taste.

Lastly I would like to conclude by saying that  those people who are training heavily, this product will make a difference in the recovery ability so that it is possible to hit the gym harder on daily basis.

INTERNET CENSORSHIP

In today’s time everyone uses internet and all of us at least have one social media account. The Internet is massive. According to Broadband Search, the Internet connects 4.79 billion individuals, or over two-thirds of the world’s population. Of course, this number continues to rise and will continue to do so in the future. With so many individuals connected, we now live in an era when we have access to an infinite quantity of data.It is expanding at a breakneck speed that no one knows how many people use it.

When the internet was first developed, it was intended to be a futuristic environment where people could freely interact and learn. However, depending on which nation you are in, the internet may not be as accessible. Hence, censorship come into play. So what basically is internet censorship?

The practice of banning or censoring particular online information is known as internet censorship. Information which is often censored is porn, file shared through decentralized networks which we call peer-to-peer network, the media reports on events, websites from other countries, social media etc. Censorship can be carried out by institutions, governments, or any other entity that has power over the visibility of others on the internet. Internet censorship can be good or bad depending on the reason of why is it banned? When utilized for good, it may be used to restrict hate speech or other dangerous or sensitive content, block access to copyrighted information, and more. However, when utilized for the wrong reasons, it may be used to restrict public opinion, freedom of expression, and demonstrations.

Many nations have internet filtering laws, and they vary widely throughout the world. The majority of western continents, such as Europe and North America have no internet regulation compared to other nations where the extent of internet censorship is extensive. For instance, In the People’s Republic of China, internet censorship is among the most severe in the world. Many major websites are prohibited, including Google, Facebook, and Twitter. Unfortunately, the Chinese government utilizes its authority to suppress information about the government, oppress citizens, and prohibit any kind of media that criticizes the government.

So likewise, it can be said that internet censorship has its own pros and cons. The pros and cons are highlighted in the table given below:-

ADVANTAGESDISADVANTAGES
1. Internet censorship may be used to hunt down and shut down dangerous websites. Hence, it improves internet security.1.Freedom of expression is suppressed which is self-evident, and we’ve seen it in above instances that China and Myanmar are two countries that showcase how it has been abused. Simple remarks said against the government, or a favorite individual might result in imprisonment or detention.
2. Internet filtering can be used to prevent users from accessing unlawful or dangerous information. Human trafficking, illicit narcotics, frightening films, and other disturbing content are examples of this. This is very useful for the younger readership. therefore, it allows us to browse safely.  2. While limiting fake news and misleading information is a good thing, it may also be used to limit information. This is a common tactic employed by China to keep civilians from witnessing police violence and corruption. In other words, it has the ability to regulate information flow – sometimes excessively. And we all know that too much of everything is dangerous.
3. We’ve all heard of false information. You can’t believe everything you read on the internet. We can fact-check sources and uncover incorrect information because of internet restrictions.3. it also limits economic opportunities because when a government approves legislation allowing Internet filtering, everyone must submit their material for approval before it can be published. That implies entrepreneurs would have to pitch their ideas to government officials with no assurance of being able to launch a firm which in turn leads to lower economic opportunity.

Nowadays, Internet censorship is at the center of discussions around freedom of speech, as disinformation and foreign manipulation of social media have become key topics. The issue of internet censorship is divisive because it has two sides just like the coin has. One is for good and other one for evil. After studying how other nations manage digital censorship, I am certain that some kind of it should be implemented and placed in the hands of the appropriate authorities. After all, the Internet might be a very hazardous place if there are no rules in place but excess restriction is menacing.

World population day: Facts about India

What is world population day? World population day is an annual event which is celebrated on 11 July every year. The main motive of this event is to create an awareness about the increasing population, gender equality, among the people. This day is inspired by the 11 July of 1987 when the world population reached the 5 billion. And look how much the population has increased since then!

July 11 is observed as world population day. India stands as the second most populated country after china. It is expected to add 273 million people by end of 2050 and surpass china in just right years. It will remain the most populated country until the end of the century, according to UN report.

Since 2010, 27 countries have recorded a minimum percent reduction in population. However India’s population is on the rise. By the end of the century world population is set to reach 11 billion.

  • Facts.
  • Tokyo is the world’s most populated city. It has a population of around 37.4 million.
  • The second most populated city is Delhi, which has a population of 29 million.
  • Vatican City is the less populated city in the world with a population of 800.

More people means an increased demand for food, water, housing, energy, healthcare, transportation, and more. In the past fifty years or so, the growth of the population has boomed and has turned into overpopulation. The birth and death rates must be equal to balance each other to maintain a population growth rate.

STRUCTURE OF ANDREW MARVELL’S TO HIS COY MISTRESS

Andrew Marvell is an impressive robust in the metaphysical tradition not just for his copious use of characteristically metaphysical wit, conceit and imageries, his exhibition that affects one’s intellect as much as his emotion, but also for the argumentative and logical evolution of his lyrics that shows a peculiar blend of passion and thought, feeling and ratiocination. The trait is the most visible in To His Coy Mistress.

The poem, To HIs Coy Mistress, is itself an argument that presses itself towards a conclusion by seemingly logical steps. The subject and structure of To His Coy Mistress is conceived of and expressed by Marvell syllogistically. The logical structure of the poem is best understood from the manner in which the three stanzas open: “Had we but World enough, and Time,/ This coyness Lady were no crime…”

The dialect of the poem does not only reign supreme in the formal demonstration which is so explicit in the three strophes of the poem, the strophes that have a syllogistic relation to one another, but also in the apparent contrasts evoked by the imageries they include.

Marvell writes, “Had we but World enough, and Time…”. The “had” helps the poet to create a make-believe situation or condition which is actually the incipient, suppositious proposition, the first premise of his argument. The “Had” also enables him to grammatically establish his assertion that “we” do not have “World enough, and Time”, The vastness or infinitude of both time and space is again ingeniously verbalized in his witty reference to two Biblical allusions; the “Flood” mentioned in Old Testament and the “conversion of the Jews” to devout Christians just before the end of the world, i.e the Doomsday.

The first premise attains a climatic point with the poet’s use of metaphysical conceit in his lines : “My vegetable Love should grow/ Vaster than Empires, and more slow.” The “vegetable love” is a curious attribution to love. In short, the first stanza begins with a suppositious and the rest of it offers a series of hooks upon which Marvell hangs his hyperboles, conceits and wit to complement the premise.

The indispensable “But” with which the second strophe opens is just too sufficient not to repudiate or disown the make-believe condition the first strophe helps the poet build. With the abrupt introduction of the imagery of Time’s “winged chariot” the poet ushers in a turn and surprise in the incessant linear thought. The lover says the life in short and the time is fleeting, death is first approaching them. After death the lady-love will lie in the grave and the lover will not sing song to her. The worms will violate her chastity in the grave, her honour will be turned to dust and the desire of the sexual intercourse is impossible there: “The Grave’s a fine and private place,/ But none I think do there embrace.”

Therefore, it is the suggestion of the love to conclude that as the life is short and the time is fleeting, so the lady-love should give up false mantle of coyness and social honour for keeping her chastity intact and they should join sexual union without delay like “amorous birds of prey”. They will be fierce in their brutal sexual pleasure by rupture hymen. Thus, they can conquer time and death by their mutual love.

in conclusion, it is said that the general structure of Marvell’s To His Coy Mistress is syllogistic, but the poetic quality involves several non-syllogistic elements as well.

RESPIRATION

The term respiration refers to the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between environment and cells of our body where organic nutrients are broken down enzymatically to release energy.

Respiratory functions

The five primary functions of the respiratory system are
✓To exchange O2 and CO2 Between the atmosphere and the blood.
✓To maintain homeostatic regulation of body pH.
✓To protect us from inhaled pathogens and pollutants.
✓To maintain the vocal cords for normal communication (vocalization).
✓To remove the heat produced during cellular respiration.

Respiratory organs in various organisms

Different animals have different organs for exchange of gases, depending upon their habitats and levels of organization. The amount of dissolved oxygen is very low in water compared to the amount of oxygen in the air. So the rate of breathing in aquatic organisms is much faster than land animals.

Characteristics features of respiratory surface

✓Surface area must be very large and richly supplied with blood vessels.
✓Should be extremely thin and kept moist.
✓Should be in direct contact with the environment.
✓Should be permeable to respiratory gases.

The steps involved in respiration are
✓The exchange of air between the atmosphere and the lungs.
✓The exchange of O2 and CO2 between the lungs and the blood.
✓Transport of O2 and CO2 by the blood.
✓Exchange of gases between the blood and the cells.
✓Uptake of O2 by the cells for various activities and the release of CO2.

Respiratory Volumes

Tidal Volume (TV)

Tidal Volume is the amount of air inspired or expired with each normal breath. It is approximately 500 ml., i.e. a normal human adult can inspire or expire approximately 6000 to 8000 ml of air per minute. During vigorous exercise, the tidal volume is about 4-10 times higher.

Inspiratory Reserve Volume (IRV)

Additional volume of air a person can inspire by forceful inspiration is called Inspiration Reserve Volume. The normal value is 2500 – 3000 ml.

Expiratory Reserve Volume ( ERV)

Additional volume of air a person can forceful expiration is called Expiratory Reserve Volume. The normal value is 1000 – 1100 ml.

Residual Volume (RV)

The volume of air remaining in the lungs after a forceful expiration. It is approximately 1100 – 1200 ml.

Respiratory Capacities

Vital Capacity (VC)

The maximum volume of air that can be moved out during a single breath following a maximal inspiration. A person first inspires maximally then expires maximally. VC = ERV + TV + IRV

Inspiratory Capacity (IC)

The total volume of air a person can inhale after normal expiration. It includes tidal volume and inspiratory reserve volume. IC = TV + IRV

Expiratory Capacity (EC)

The total volume of air a person can exhale after normal inspiration. It includes tidal volume and expiratory reserve volume. EC = TV + ERV

Total Lung Capacity (TLC)

The total volume of air which the lungs can accommodate after forced inspiration is called Total Lung Capacity. This includes the vital capacity and the residual volume. It is approximately 6000ml. TLC = VC + RV

Minute Respiratory Volume

The amount of air that moves into the respiratory passage per minute is called minute respiratory volume.
Normal TV = 500ml ; Normal respiratory rate = 12 times / minute
Therefore, minute respiratory volume = 6 Litres/minute (for a normal healthy man).

Dead Space

Some of the inspired air never reaches the gas exchange areas but fills the respiratory passages where exchange of gases does not occur. This air space is called dead space.

Dead Space is not involved in gaseous exchange. It amounts to approximately 150ml.

Exercise increases the rate and depth of breathing and supplies extra oxygen to the muscles and removes more CO2 from the tissues.
