Significance of Biodiversity

Biodiversity in simple words is the biological diversity or the variety of life forms that can be found on earth as well as to the communities that they form and the habitats in which they live. Biodiversity provides us with various benefits directly or indirectly, it plays numerous functions which can be classified as : ecological, economical and social benefits. It maintains balance in the ecosystem by :
✓ Recycling and storage of nutrients
✓ Fighting pollution
✓ Stabilising climate
✓ Maintenance of water resources
✓ Replenishment of Soil and control of soil erosion
Economically provides us with all raw materials for industries, helps in meeting our medical needs and more importantly provides us with food. The biodiversity looks after us in all the aspects in one hand and on the other hand it repairs all the destructions caused by us.

Biodiversity is the basis for our survival. But we human beings are the major reason for its destruction. We are not only pushing other species to danger but slowly demolishing the habitat that we live in, further paving way towards our extinction.

The saddest part is that though most of us are aware of these facts, we are not paying attention to it. But we need to realise the fact that each and every action of us has an impact on the world. We can’t pass out a day without making changes or influencing our surrounding. The process of conservation is incomplete without our participation. So we must realise the need or the urge for conservation of biodiversity. Everyone must be aware of its importance and work towards preserving our future.

Effects of changing food habits on health

Right from the beginning of evolution till now humans went through lots of changes. Other organisms that thrive in the world adapts themselves to the surrounding whereas the humans on the other hand shapes and modulates the environment suitable for him. So through centuries our lifestyle and also the way we meet our daily needs has changed. For survival a person needs food and shelter, it’s mandatory for every living being. But humans over years evolved to neglect his requirements and has turned to go for false needs.

Nowadays in the fast moving world people forget to care for their health. They are ignorant towards the fact that they are spoiling themself by skipping food and taking improper diets. Its science that tells a person to consume the food that are available or grown native to the region they live, that’s how the system works and the availability varies place to place. Thus consuming foreign variety of food for a long time may be hazardous. Apart form these there is also the risk of growing fast food culture among the people. In search of tasty food, lack of time and ignorance, people end up having multiple health disorders. It affects both the physical and mental health of people, further there are also risk of bringing down our efficiency in our daily activities. Not only the adults but also the kids of this generation are addicted to unhealthy food habits, thus without acquiring necessary nutrients they suffer diseases at an young age. If this scenario persists it may result in the danger of affecting the upcoming generations which includes the factors such as redused life span. So rather than going behind false things one must realise the truth and must work towards changing his lifestyle to a normal form with all it’s regular aspects other than the modified one.

What ‘Pride and Prejudice’ tells about life of women in early nineteenth century ?

Pride and Prejudice is a romantic novel by Jane Austen, was first published in 1813. It is a classic of English literature which centres on the relationship between Elizabeth Bennet, the daughter of a country gentleman and Fitzwilliam Darcy, a rich aristocratic landowner. The novel throws light on role of women in early nineteenth century Britain. The importance of marriage in the lives of Elizabeth Bennet and her sisters have been revealed which reflects on how hard it is to be in a unmarried state, where one needs to depend on others to support themselves financially.

Those days it was believed that marriage as a vital part in a women’s life who needed support inorder to lead their life. The men were allowed to pursue higher education, then job and were let to live independently whereas women were denied education and as a result only few of them got employed. This situation of women are represented through the story of Elizabeth Bennet and her sisters. The women of those period weren’t given choice of independent life and were left to relay on someone else. Although the daughters of the middle and upper class were sent to school still their education was in a restricted form. It created lesser academic knowledge in them and restricted them from pursuing in various fields. Education for women of that time was only gained through private tutors or private institutes thus higher education got restricted and even those who were able to complete their studies successfully were not able to choose the job of their choice. As these cases can be seen through the novel where Elizabeth Bennet being lively and inquisitive mind was able to further her education independently whereas her sisters needed a more elaborate and structured one. Another major cause for denial of women’s formal education was the less job opportunities. In turn these less job availability paved way for marriage as a unavoidable part of their life. The novel also clearly states how the inheritance of property moves only to the male heirs. In case of unmarried state they remained dependent upon their relatives, receiving small incomes. At the end women were left to depend on men to support themself financially. In order to live a independent life and to ensure it for everyone there was a need for structured form of education. The novel thus clearly portrays the life of women of early nineteenth century and also stands as a record which shows the changes the life of women had been through.

How crocodiles survived mass extinction ?

Crocodiles,by reading the name you would have picturised a massive creature with pointed teeth and a thick skin. The very appearance of them would terrify anyone. We can also call them as living relatives of dinosaurs but still it has always been a mystery on how crocodiles survived the extinction which wept out the entire dinosaurs. Crocodiles shares many common features with dinosaurs but they are different from one another and they have a distinct feature which allowed them to survive the mass extinction of dinosaurs.Though we can’t come up with a perfect conclusion still there are few amazing theories which leaves us wondering.

Crocodile show a slow metabolism which allows them to survive for months without food. They being cold blooded cannot generate own heat due to which they hibernate during colder periods. While hibernating they dig burrows in the side of river banks and go for a long sleep. This particular habit of them would have enabled them to withstand the climatic condition prevailed during the mass extinction. The period that followed the event of mass extinction brought a radical weather change which would have wiped of the remaining dinosaurs whereas crocodiles on the other hand had the ability to hibernate or go dormant adopted to the changes and survived the condition.

Another important characteristics of survival is in the process of reproduction. In this case the crocodiles gave rise to a large number of offsprings at a time whose young one takes quicker time to grow mature thus increases the possibility of survival.

They also have a strong immune system which enable them to fight against deadly diseases thus providing more anchorage to the survival process. They grow slowly and steadily in size adapting to the surrounding and availability of food which was not characteristic of the other creatures that lived during that age. Apart from all others features, crocodiles are smarter creatures which can be seen through the fact on how easily they can be tamed and trained. They understand the changing around them clearly and tend to adapt to it. All these factors together has assisted crocodiles to escape and thrive through the mass extinction.

The most powerful thing

Have you ever wondered what the most powerful thing that exist in earth. It is love, nothing in the world exist which can stand against it or have the potential to win over it. But still most people have difficulty in identifying it and prove its existence. Before finding it you need to define it. LOVE, it is the most beautiful and powerful thing which exist on earth. This appears between every single soul but only few are gifted to identify it. It is a unconditional care that one show for another without any cause or reason.

Let me explain a scenario, when a child is born he is just new to the earth indeed new to everyone. The child is even a stranger to his mother, but she still shows endless care for her child. She might stand against everything for the child even her friends and family. She tend to protect the child and always ready to sacrifice herself for the child.

Love can occur anywhere, with anyone. It never raises the question ‘WHOM YOU ARE.?’, it only sees ‘ WHY YOU ARE ?’. It doesn’t end with recieving, it can only be felt when giving. Love everyone around you regardless of how bad they appear or react to you.The person who receive it might not be good to you but it doesn’t mean you need to hate them, just love them back. You must not presume that expecting will leave you hurt sometimes but that’s a misconception because love ultimately lies in giving it,thus you might never need to expect one back perhaps you will feel it while giving. Spreading hatred is nothing of gain to you, its just a false pleasure. You don’t have any reason to be hard to anyone, how bad a person be just forgive because they are nothing but your fellow mates. Very few realise this soon but in many case people realise it later, but it is never late so love everyone. Be good to your fellow mates and spread love. If everyone tend to practice this the world would be a better place.

IS LEARNING A DIFFICULT PROCESS

When it comes to the topic of learning or studies, there arises various queries and comments. Is learning that difficult or a boresome work. Before we blame our Education system or institutes,we need to realise some actual factors. Learning is not a hard job, in fact learning is a delight if you accept it as a friend. It’s just a form of entertainment from which you get to know more. Education is the thing which makes a person complete and everyone must have access to it. Often the process is misunderstood, its aim is  to learn and not merely to crack a exam or to earn a degree. In this case parents and students get worried and anxious about getting into various institutes. They believe that the only way to access it is by joining an institute and spend money on it. It is a misconception, truth is where you study doesn’t matter but how you study is important. The light is within you,the interest to learn new things will help you access it. It’s only lack of attentiveness and sometimes parent’s pressure by which students ends up in coaching centres. A person doesn’t need to go for a special coaching if he has self control and willingness to achieve his goal. It’s just needs a little effort. The process doesn’t eat much of your time but it needs your interest and concentration.

To make the learning process easier and effective one needs to grow interest which can be achieved by active form of learning.

  1. While you are learning a topic first you need to give a thorough reading so that you can form an idea.
  2. You must raise questions and try to explain it yourself. While searching for the answer you get to know more about the topic further you will grow interest in the field.
  3. To have better understanding one needs to explain the concept to other person. You should make sure that you can answer to their queries and make the concept simpler.
  4. The next thing one needs to do is to write down the concept in own words. This makes sure that you never forget the concept.

Apart form these there must be a regular practice. Inorder to follow these, one must have self discipline. If you are able to work in streamlined manner with full dedication you’ll definitely succeed in the process.Once you decide what you want, you need to focus on it without falling for any sort of distraction and must work hard to reach it. Discipline is the important factor for this, if one can practice it there is no need for the person to relay on other and can function independently.

PURPOSE OF EDUCATION

The persisting scenario of pandemic and prolonged lockdown has proven the fact that education can be done online. The learners aren’t required to be physically present but still they can complete the entire course through a virtual platform. This condition might have influence on the post pandemic period or even the present methodology can be adopted. Such things leaves us thinking, WHAT IS THE REAL PURPOSE OF EDUCATION ? WHAT IS THE ROLE OF SCHOOLING IN AN INDIVIDUAL’S LIFE ? Though we can’t come up with a solution for the problems still we have answers for the mentioned questions. Hence we can form a better system.

Going through the history of schooling a certain idea can be derived, the purpose being preaching religious values, morality and knowledge of life or which can be called as art of living a life in a righteous way. Through years it slowly evolved with various theories ending up in the system that exist today which entirely focuses on developing their knowledge in particular field. This system enables the learners to pursue a job and make earning but it fails to teach the person to survive in the society. It denys them from giving a picture of social life thus forgetting the ultimate aim of education. Also in the contemporary world where children confined to their rooms without any other source of entertainment are left to rely on their mobile phones and electrical gadgets. Without supervision of their parents there are lots of chance for them getting mislead with negative influence which promotes violent behaviour in them. This can be seen through the increasing number of crimes which are being committed by the graduates who are being mislead and manipulated  to follow wrong beliefs.

To contradict this we need a social form of education where they learn moral values. The student must be open to social crisis through regular discussion by which they get a idea of the current scenario of world, providing them a real picture and thus allows them to share thier view towards it. This method develops their communication skills and ensures a positive form of interaction. The range of success differs,it changes place to place and between individuals, so one cannot define whether you lived a  successful life but can definitely tell whether you lived in courteous way. Thus inorder to form a well built society for future we need to teach the young generation with moral values.
