4 Ways to Stay Motivated While Achieving Your Goals

Well, who doesn’t want to achieve what he or she wants in life? So, if you have started setting up your goals, then congratulations, you have begun your journey!! But, if you are experiencing some unexpected zigzags amid of the expected alluring summit and your current progress in life, then it is quite natural. It’s nothing unusual actually!

Almost everyone experiences a downward spiral like this, where the dreams seem to be something impossible and it feels like that you are not able to reach them even. But, there’s always a rescue to every obstacle!

Here are four astounding practices, which are based on scientific research. They will assist you to stay yourself determined, muster the energy, and make the journey to success as enjoyable as you expect the destination to be.

Take a glance over!

  1. Mingle with Others

It has been seen over the years that the strength of our social support system is something, which is one of the significant ways to success, resilience, and happiness.

When we have some trusted ‘others’ around us, to remind us of our desired goals, then it gives us immense strength to get back into the game.

If you go for even a mere shopping day or a chit-chat evening with a beloved friend or family of yours, then it could do wonders for you!

  1. Believe in Self-Assurance

Your dream can appear to be no but a mirage to you, if you get into all quite social comparisons. It can thus sabotage your motivation, while letting the fear of failure to loom large in your mind. However, being an inherent attribute of human being, society’s pursuit of perfection is something from which you and I cannot remain away.

Therefore, in such a scenario, you ought to be kind to yourself, which can give strength to you for facing all the fears which will be both the important and imagined ones. So, whenever you are feeling low again about your goals in life, then just place your hand on your chest and provides a reassurance to yourself with a couple of motivating words.

  1. Give a second thought to your roadblocks

It is a human tendency to spot the negatives in their lives prior to the positive facts. When the going gets somewhat tough, then we often start doubting our own abilities and allow the roadblocks to take the toll. But, this can be escaped, while rethinking about the roadblocks – your explanatory style.

Martin Seligman, father of positive psychology, split this explanatory style into 3 Ps. If you explain your difficulty, while considering yourself as the problem (Personal), nothing will work out constructively (Pervasive), and your demoralizing mind-set will remain the same (Permanent). Therefore, he suggested that it should be the time for you to rethink and take the next stride towards your goal afresh!

  1. Go for “LOL”!!

There are definitely some more significant infatuations of ‘LOLs’ than how much it is credited for! Laughing out loud releases the stress hormones in your body and balances your psychological and physiological states. It will help you feel the insignificance of many things, and thus you will be distanced from the fear of failure, which makes you become immobilized.

If you’ve got a dream, then take every stride to satisfy an equivalent , how long it’d take you to try to to so! Never lose hope, and follow the aforementioned tips to stay yourself inspired always to realize the most important goals in your life.

HACCP

“Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points”.
It is basically a preventive approach to food safety which is used to find and then eliminate the biological, chemical and physical hazards which may or may not be there in production processes and can cause the final products to be unsafe and unhealthy for human consumption. These are certain principles which have been designed by the government to ensure the food quality and safety. It is a various step process that is followed in any food industry.
The HACCP system is followed at each and every level of food chain i.e. in food production and preparation processes which also includes packaging, distribution and even consumption by the consumer. It is therefore known as FARM-TO-TABLE process.
This technique was originated by NASA in the 1960s and US food and drug administration gave a particular definition to this. The main objectives of the HACCP system are –
• Prevention of food-borne diseases so that no one is affected after the consumption of food.
• This system mainly focuses on quality assurance unit i.e. maintains the quality of the food.
• HACCP system tends to reduce the cost of analysis of food.
• It also reduces the losses which occur due to product recall.
• And finally it helps in protecting the reputation of government.

HOW TO CONDUCT A HACCP PLAN??????
Conducting a HACCP plan is a 5 step process as mentioned below –

  1. Collection of HACCP resources and assembling of HACCP team which will look into the all steps.
  2. Description of the product by the team and deciding its method of distribution.
  3. Developing a complete list of ingredients and raw materials which are to be used in the production of the final product.
  4. Developing a flow diagram of the process i.e. how the product will be manufactured, its complete process.
  5. Meeting the requirements for the product to be manufactured safely.

PRINCIPLES OF HACCP
There are 7 main principles of conducting successfully a HACCP plan.

  1. To conduct a hazard analysis is the first step in which all the potential physical, chemical as well as biological hazards in the production of the product are identified.
  2. To determine all the critical control points (CCPs). At this step, all the control measures are thought to be applied. Basically at this step, those points are identified where control measures can be applied for the safety. This step is very essential to eliminate hazards completely from the product.
  3. To establish critical limits is the next step i.e. in this step the control measures are actually applied and also the maximum and minimum limits are set for the preventive measures. To each point found in the last step, a critical limit is applied. These limits assure the food safety.
  4. To establish monitoring procedures is the next step in which all the planning which was done yet is monitored and it should be done on a regular basis. This step assures that there is no mishandling of any procedure of the complete plan.
  5. To establish corrective actions is the next step in which appropriate correct actions are taken if after monitoring it is observed that the critical limits are not met. The corrective actions for each point and limit are already pre-decided.
  6. To establish verification procedures is the next and most important step in which the complete HACCP plan is validated. The complete verification of the plan is required to assure that the precautions and preventions are taken carefully.
  7. To maintain record keeping and documentation procedures is the final step in which the record is maintained and established which must be done regularly. It is necessary for validation procedures.

Swarm Of Locusts Reaches Gurugram, But Will They Enter Delhi?

Houses and trees were covered by locusts in some parts of Gurugram as the swarm continues to advance from west to east with steady wind.

A swarm of locusts, about 3 km in length, has hit Gurugram and it is flying across the city in the NCR region from west to east, according to officials.

The Gurugram administration is sounding sirens and blowing horns to make noises so that the locusts don’t settle on green vegetation and destroy them.

Besides, we have been spraying chemicals through vehicle-mounted pump sets in rural areas,” said Amit Khatri, Gurugram Deputy Commissioner (DC).

There is disagreement amid different administrations over whether the swarm will enter Delhi.

“They are flying across the city West to East due to the steady wind. They will most likely enter Delhi,” said Khatri.

Delhi Air Traffic Control (ATC) on Saturday directed pilots of all airlines to take necessary precautions during landing and take-off of aircraft in view of locust swarms seen near the airport in areas along Gurugram-Dwarka Expressway, news agency ANI reported. A team has been set up to monitor the situation.

However, KL Gujjar, deputy director, Plant Protection, Quarantine and Storage (PPQS), Faridabad, says that it is unlikely that they will reach Delhi because they are moving in East direction. PPQS comes under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and it is a nodal body to take locust control measures with its various sub-offices across the country.

“They have entered India from Pakistan through Jaisalmer and Barmer border area and reached Jhujhuna. From there, they travelled to Rewari. From Rewari, they came to Jhjhar and from there they have reached Gurugram. Now from here, they will fly to Faridabad and then considering the current wind direction they will move towards Palwal side. I don’t see that they will enter Delhi,” he said.

Meanwhile, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai called an emergency meeting to discuss the situation following a locust attack in Gurugram. The minister also directed the administration to be alert, an official said.

“After the emergency meeting, an advisory will be issued on steps to be taken to deal with the situation,” Rai told PTI.

He asked the officials of the Agriculture department to make field visits to areas close to Gurugram.

On Friday, Gurugram administration reportedly warned its residents about the attack, urging them to keep their windows shut as a precautionary measure. The administration also asked them to make clanging noise by beating utensils to repel the crop-eating insects.

The locust attack has ravaged parts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and few other states for over a month.

Experts say that the present locust crisis that many Indian states are faced with is intense due to the younger population of the insect, swarms of which have entered the country from the north-west areas bordering Pakistan.

A young locust is far more dangerous for crops than a mature and older one. While the mature locusts cover shorter distances and focus more on breeding, the younger ones can fly 150 km in a day and devour more green vegetation.

Experts believe that the current locust invasion was part of the residue population that survived after February 17, 2020, in the deserts of Pakistan and Iran. After 1993, for the first time on May 22, 2019, large swarms of locusts invaded areas bordering Pakistan. Locust controlling units thought that they could finish them by the end of October 2019 but the invasion continued till early February 2020.

“On February 17, 2020, we either killed all the locusts or forced them to go across the border in Pakistan and Iran. We stopped our locust control measures and expected that Pakistan and Iran would take similar measures to eliminate them. But somehow, the residue population continued breeding and in April they attacked,” said Dr Rajesh Kumar, Plant Protection Officer, Jaisalmer.

Theory vs Practices : Super Conjunctive Comparison !!!!!!

I want to justify titles with several popular quotes-

GTU to conduct Examination for final year students, here’s how it will be conducted…!

GTU – Gujarat Technological University to conduct online as well as offline exams on 2nd of July. V.C. of GTU Navin Seth and V.C. of MS University Parimal Vyas raised an issue about exams and said that:

“All private universities are conducting examinations and if state universities do not conduct exams, the students enrolled with them are going to face serious repercussions for the same – in terms of not being able to go for higher study, or even bag a job. “Their competence in the time to come will be challenged.”

So, the GTU has decided to conduct examination for final year candidates.

GTU (@GTUoffice) | Twitter

“Allow universities to frame examination guidelines as per their requirement and local dynamics. The new proposed guidelines may create further issues, so the framework of new guidelines regarding cancellation of examination must incorporate the flexibility of giving autonomy to individual universities for taking the decision regarding the date, mode of examination and other related guidelines in line with the set norms of UGC,” – the V.C. said.
GTU also plans to conducts for those who have fear and lives in containment zone via online mode as well as off in the month of September-October.
We have students from 32 states. To bring uniformity in exam patterns for Gujarat, out of state and of India students, we decided to conduct online exams for all. I raised only one point and asked All India University members that they should convey to UGC that universities should be given autonomy to decide and conduct exams. No mandatory guidelines for all universities should be set for blanket implementation,” Vyas said
GTU gets 'Most Trusted State University' - Times of India
The online mode of exam will be conducted with high safety in hand on hand with varasity, and planned to conduct exams of around 1600+ students with 1 supervisor for each 15 student and the computers will be completely checked there will be no copy-paste option available as well as browsing on the internet will also be disabled for an additional security each and every 1600+ students movement will be recorded, computers will be properly sanitized before and after use.

What Should Parents Know About COVID-19-Related Anxiety in Kids?

The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted the lives of everyone, including children. Vermont’s mental health professionals have seen higher-than-normal numbers of kids experiencing anxiety brought on by the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order, school closures, canceled extracurricular activities, and curtailed visits with family and friends.

Thankfully, parents can play an active role in reducing their kids’ anxiety, beginning by reassuring them that they live in a very safe place. According to the Vermont Department of Health, the number of youth under the age of 20 who have contracted COVID-19 remains low, and no Vermont children or teens have died from the virus.

Still, if children seem unusually anxious for a prolonged period, there are things parents can do to help. Dr. Lewis First, chief of pediatrics at the University of Vermont Children’s Hospital, shares his expert advice for managing anxiety in kids.

KIDS VT: What is anxiety?

DR. LEWIS FIRST: Anxiety is a normal emotion we all experience at one point or another as part of our natural fight-or-flight response. Having a little stress or anxiety about something new, different or challenging is normal and prepares us to be sharper and more alert to respond. For a child, it may be a big test or athletic competition. But anxiety can become a problem when a child faces a sudden, prolonged crisis — which makes COVID-19 the perfect scenario for causing stress and anxiety. While their stress may not indicate a classic anxiety disorder, it can reach the upper limits of what a child is emotionally able to handle.

KVT: What signs should parents watch for?

LF: Anxiety becomes a concern when a child experiences a persistence of symptoms associated with this condition. Kids may have physiological complaints such as headaches, stomachaches or loss of appetite. Some kids become irritable or agitated. They may become restless, easily fatigued, have trouble concentrating or difficulty sleeping. Some become disruptive or even withdraw from their parents as a way to cope.

KVT: Does anxiety look different depending upon the child’s age?

LF: Kids of all ages, even babies, can show signs of stress or anxiety, which they can sense from their parents’ unease or experience when they’re around people they don’t know. Babies, toddlers and preschoolers may seem clingier, cry more, get upset easily and not want to do things that they previously enjoyed. Older schoolchildren and early adolescents may exhibit more negativity. They may complain of shortness of breath, shakiness, clamminess, a racing heart and feelings of doom, which are all classic signs of a panic attack.

KVT: When should parents be concerned about a child’s anxiety?

LF: First, parents should realize that the vast majority of children who are showing signs of stress right now are not having classic anxiety disorders. To make such a diagnosis, we need to see at least one sign of excessive anxiety occurring more days than not for at least six months, and we haven’t been dealing with COVID-19 for that long yet.

KVT: What can parents do to help?

LF: Kids tend to stress when they sense that their parents are worried. I know it’s hard right now, but parents need to remain calm and manage their own stress as best they can. This is a great opportunity for families to recognize that, even while isolated or as we slowly get out in public more often, this is a special time together. Parents should build in time to be with their child where it’s not about talking at them but really listening to them. With an older child or teenager, sometimes a parent expressing their own concerns will open the door to them feeling it’s OK to vent their own feelings. Parents can ask a child if there’s something they saw or heard about the coronavirus that worries them, then educate them about what is fact versus fiction. Parents can also reassure their children that scientists and medical professionals around the world are working every day to find new medicines and vaccines that will make this virus go away.

KVT: What can kids do themselves?

LF: Children can be made to feel like they’re part of the solution by practicing physical distancing, good handwashing hygiene and staying home when necessary. Parents should focus on all the positive things their kids are doing. Limit children’s exposure to the news or, with an older child, watch it together as a family so that you can discuss what’s going on. One of the most important things you can do to reduce anxiety is create predictability. Uncertainty breeds anxiety and fear, so parents should create a schedule that is predictable yet flexible and includes plenty of group playtime. Communicate with family, friends, teachers and coaches by phone or videoconference. And parents should not loosen the rules too much on healthy behaviors such as consistent bedtimes, good diet and daily exercise.

KVT: What if kids are still struggling with daily anxiety?

LF: If children just aren’t sleeping well most or all nights, are anxious most of the time, or continue to show the signs and symptoms we’ve discussed, then it’s time to talk to a health care professional. They can recommend treatments such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and even medication. A counselor or therapist can be very helpful in teaching a child coping mechanisms such as taking slow, deep breaths; counting backward from 100; and having a safe space to go to in their minds and/or in their homes. Increased anxiety in adults can lead to physical or emotional abuse, so parents need to manage their own stress levels, too.

Life skills: A necessary lesson!

In a world where humanity is slowly degrading, certain life skills need to be imbibed and nurtured into us humans. As life these days are full of twists and turns and numerous hurdles one needs to take smart decisions in the right direction. Life skills can teach one to deal with stressful situations and can abstain one’s self from making hasty decisions.

Life skills will help us deal with the challenges of our ubiquitous life, it will aid us in decision making and will also help us in controlling our mind in inflexible times. One can discipline themselves with the implementation of certain life skills in everyday life. Being a good human and inculcating virtuous values is a long process but not a tough task.

According to UNICEF life skills should be inculcated amongst children from a young age be it empathy, problem solving or even critical thinking, this would help the children in taking the right decisions and thinking in the right way when they glow older especially in work places. Certain life skills will refrain oneself from taking illogical settlements. Life skills can be anything from a simple decision of wearing a helmet on your two wheeler to a decision refraining yourself from using the computer for long hours.

These days the word humanity is heard very frequently be it social media, news articles or just a usual family conversation but when it comes to practising humanity we are definitely greatly lagging behind and we can see that from unbelievable cases happening in and around the world which have shook us all and touched our hearts, questioning our sensibility as human beings.

Just like IQ that is Intelligence quotient, EQ is also important is also equally important and stands for emotional quotient (emotional intelligence), especially in a world where we are more prone to mental illnesses like depression and anxiety disorders. EQ is a great way to measure your emotional intelligence, be it decision making, critical thinking, communication and interpersonal skills or even self-awareness, to improve one’s EQ one has to improve and work on their life skills. The value which emotional intelligence hold is equally as important as the value given to IQ.

Certain life skills are crucial to holistic development and are essential, they are-

  • Decision Making and Problem Solving.
  • Interpersonal skills and Communication
  • Self Awareness and Empathy
  • Critical thinking and Creative thinking
  • Equanimity(self-control) and Assertiveness

These life skills when inculcated in our daily life can help us overcome so many obstacles. They inculcate certain values in us such as goal setting, courage, leadership, persistence, flexibility, confidence and sportsmanship.

Many schools have life skills as a compulsory subject to be taught to the students in their curriculum through interesting and engaging activities. Be it sports or fun activities, which would help them in their journey in the future. I feel it should be included in all school curriculums and should be taught  in middle school(childhood) as it is needed for the adoption of certain vital skills such as decision making, cooperation and empathy.

To induce positive development and good ethics within one’s self, self-work on life skills is needed, especially in a time where life is becoming tedious and can take unexpected turns one needs to look into one’s self care.

Intrinsic factors affecting the growth of microorganisms in food

There are various types of interactions between microorganisms and other living organisms. These interactions are natural, constant and also play a significant role in maintaining the ecological balance and stability of the biogeochemical cycle of the nature. Mostly, the food products we consume are obtained from plants and animals and also these foods are rich in variety of microorganisms which may or may not be pathogenic to humans. Growth of microorganisms in food depends on various different parameters which can be broadly classified as INTRINSIC and EXTRINSIC factors.
INTRINSIC FACTORS –
These are the factors that are present in the food substance in which the microorganism is growing, or it may be said as the internal factors of that particular food substrate. Various intrinsic factors are-

  1. Hydrogen Ion Concentration – All the microorganisms have minimal, maximal, or optimal pH for their growth and survival. Thus, the growth of microorganisms in food is affected by the pH of the food material. Foods may be classified as low pH or high pH foods. Most fruits, fermented foods come under high acid foods whereas most vegetables, meat, fish and milk are low acid foods. pH range of different microorganisms are :
    • Molds – 1.5-9.0
    • Yeasts – 2.0-8.5
    • Gram-positive bacteria – 4.0-8.5
    • Gram-negative bacteria – 4.5-9.0
  2. Water activity or moisture content – Water activity can be defined as the measure of availability of water present in any substance which can be used for biological functions and it also gives an idea of free water present in any food product. Water is an excellent requirement for microorganism for their growth. It has been observed and noted that the water activity of fresh food substances is 0.99. Also bacteria require more water activity i.e. free water in any food substrate for their growth than molds and yeasts. If specifically studied, it will be observed that gram-negative bacteria have relatively higher water requirements than gram-positive bacteria. Free water in any food substance is an essential requirement for the growth of microorganisms. Water activity of any food can be reduced by various absorption techniques to reduce the affect of spoilage by microorganisms.
  3. Redox Potential – Redox potential can be defined as the reducing and oxidizing power of food and it also greatly influences the growth of microorganisms in food. The concentration of oxygen present in any food sample determines the type of microorganism that will grow in it. Like, aerobic microbes require the oxygen whereas anaerobic microbes can also grow in lack of oxygen. So, it can be said aerobes grow at positive O-R potential whereas anaerobes grow at negative O-R potential.
  4. Composition of nutrients – Food composition is also an another intrinsic factor which influences the growth of microorganisms in food. There are 5 major nutrients group which are counted i.e. carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, vitamins and minerals, amount of each varies with the type of food and so the type and growth of microorganisms. Bacteria require the most nutrient requirement than yeasts and molds. Microorganisms utilize large complex nutrient molecules and convert them into smaller molecules. For e.g. there are some proteolytic bacteria which acts on proteins and hydrolyze it. Also some microbes convert lipids into glycerol with the help of an enzyme lipase. Some microorganisms which require vitamins for their growth are called as fastidious microorganisms.
  5. Inhibitory substances – There are a number of inhibitory substances that are present in foods by their origin which naturally prevent the growth of microorganisms in them. For e.g. some plants contain essential oils possessing antimicrobial properties. Milk also contains several antimicrobials like lactoferrin, conglutinin, etc.
  6. Biological structures – The natural structure of some foods have the remarkable excellence in controlling the entry as well as the growth of microorganisms in or on them. It can be noted as the natural covering of some foods which prevents the entry of microbes. So, the inner parts of the healthy tissues are sterile and possess very less microbial count. For e.g. skin of egg, rind on fruits, etc.

Why do I fear?

I was in a shock when I saw one of the teacher asking kids to mute themselves in an online class due to their willingness to answer. While me being a graduate in a year feeling tense to answer a known question to my faculty. How could I overcome my fear?Knowing nothing makes me feel comfortable rather than knowing something which causes me to fear about the rest half. Being a kid has more advantage rather than being a grownup.

I am just letting out my random thoughts to this question because I don’t know the answer. I am trying my way best to let my fear out. Why can’t I respond or even give a reply to a askout? I know I am overthinking the things and making my fear replicate everytime. How can I make my fear a reciprocal? Bringing all the courage in me and loosing it at the moment of requisite. All the courage goes in vain when my teacher picks a random student to answer. I didn’t know where did I left the courage that I had, when I spoke in my farewell. The courage I get back when I think of my past is temporary. Living in present by gathering the courage that I had in past to face the consequences in the future.

The fear you fear is just an illusion. The real existence of fear is a lie. The thoughts we have are just thoughts. The life we live is a dream. We rather live in thoughts and leave the present life. We should come out of the thinking life and live in present life. The thoughts make us feel about the non-existent temporary feelings. Come out of fake world and live a normal life. Everything is a feeling and the feel is temporary and it changes from time to time and make us play with it and make us mad. We are just players in the real world and play according to the coach who makes us feel about the temporary things in our thoughts. Our thoughts kill us daily.

Trying to motivate me by motivating readers by writing some stuff. Letting myself out by writing some stuff because I can’t speak it to anyone else. You might wonder that I am letting my things out to some random readers. But that might not affect me since being a unknown person to the readers. I know that I should get some motivation from my trustees but I don’t know why am I choosing the other way instead. I don’t have fear of being judged my mates because they are my mates and they don’t judge and if they do it then it can’t hurt me. I want to be confident and courageous and speak what I feel and should express the way I feel inside. The way I speak to my mates should become the way that I speak to else. I must be brave enough to speak the fact that I can’t do or I don’t know the answer. Accepting the fact of denial is the greatest contribution that one gives to him/herself.

Be brave to accept the unknown and have courage to speak the known. It’s our life and what the heck do we care of judging us. We are here to live our lives not to satisfy others. If we can’t express ourselves the way we feel about ourselves then it’s worthless to feel bad inside and destroy ourselves as a consequence of it. Be yourself both inside and outside.

Overthinking Worriers Are Probably Creative Geniuses

How many hours per day do you think? I never thought about that. So let me get this straight. You’re thinking all the time, and yet, you never realize how much time you spend thinking. That sounds like an addiction to me. I know, because I’m addicted to thinking too.

I am constantly overthinking things, whether it be focusing on irrelevant details, over complicating problems, psyching myself out, or getting overwhelmed by too many thoughts. It’s something I know a lot of people deal with, seemingly more in this generation than most, and it’s an interesting phenomenon. I can’t say exactly why I tend to overthink things (keep in mind I’m not a psychologist), but if I had to guess, I would say that it ties into the high expectations created by society and myself to be perfect, resulting in an unrealistic perfectionist attitude when approaching problems. I constantly have to remind myself that I’m focusing on the wrong parts of a problem and wasting time considering things that have little to no difference in my life in some futile search to be perfect. This problem of overthinking is most noticeable when I attempt to create art. Whether it be writing, drawing, making music, or even doodling, I always hit the brick wall of perfectionism.

Overthinking can be one of the most frustrating, debilitating habits one can develop. Besides putting you through undue amounts of stress, overthinking can put your life on hold by preventing you from succeeding at work, damaging your relationships, and keeping you from chasing your dreams. It can throw your sleep patterns out of whack, cause you to stress-eat, and hold you back from appreciating your life for the gift that it is.

Much of the time, when we are overthinking, we are engaging in a destructive thought process that leads to unfavorable outcomes.

The “critical inner voice” in our heads that hones in on the negative aspects of a situation. This “voice” is like a sadistic coach that feeds us a ceaseless stream of criticism and undermines our goals. It’s that thought that pops up when we are about to go on a job interview: ‘You’ll never get this. You’re going to embarrass yourself. Just look how nervous you are.” It’s the dialogue that plays in your head analyzing your relationship: “Why is she so distant today? I must have said something stupid. She’s losing interest. She probably likes someone else.

So, why do we nurture this internal enemy that feeds us such negative commentary and dreadful advice? The truth is, we are all divided. All of us are split between our real self and our “anti-self.” While our real self is life-affirming, goal-directed and represents our true values and desires, our anti-self is like an internal enemy that is self-denying and self-critical, paranoid and suspicious, both toward ourselves and toward others. Our real self is built from positive life experiences, healthy developmental events and characteristics we witnessed in our parents and early caretakers. Our anti-self is shaped from our negative experiences, harmful events and attitudes we were exposed to early in life.

Why do we live in our minds when we can just be living our life?

It’s all about perspective and mindset.  While we’ve been contemplating situations that haven’t even come to fruition , or worrying about where we’ll be in five years, we could be celebrating the present and all the things going right in life.  Take a moment to breathe and think about all the great things in your world, and the things that make you happy: family, friends, children, relationships, vacation….football. The list is endless, but it takes a conscious shift in mindset to realize that what is bringing you down can weigh you down mentally, physically, and emotionally, too if you let it.

If you’re a classic over thinker, you analyze everything that happens in your life. You mull over every decision until you’re exhausted. You even brood about your tendency to brood. People who overthink tend to score high in the neurotic department. Neuroticism is one of the five big personality traits, along with openness, conscientiousness, extraversion and agreeableness. It’s linked to anxiety, fear, moodiness, worry, envy and frustration.

A lot of world-famous problem-solvers and artists were indeed worriers and over thinkers

There are a lot of incredibly creative scientists and artists on that list. If you have a tendency to worry about things to the point of being neurotic, there is a good chance you are a creative genius yourself.

Cheerful, happy-go-lucky people by definition do not brood about problems and so must be at a disadvantage when problem-solving compared to a more neurotic person. It is easy to observe that many geniuses seem to have a brooding, unhappy tendency that hints they are fairly high on the neuroticism spectrum. For example, think of the life stories of Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Vincent Van Gogh, etc. Perhaps the link between creativity and neuroticism was summed up most succinctly of all by John Lennon when he said: ‘Genius is pain.’

The overthinking hypothesis also explains the positives of neuroticism. The creativity of Isaac Newton and other neurotics may simply be the result of their tendency to dwell on problems far longer than average people.

Motivational Tips for Depression – 6 Ways to Feel Better

Depression can strike anytime to anyone. It doesn’t spare its victims, and has no boundaries. Depression may be a serious illness and will never be taken lightly. Depression is sadness, hopelessness, a loss of interest in your daily living, crying, feelings of loss and thoughts of suicide are abundantly present.

There can be many causes for depression:

Life Changes
Worry
Chronic Pain
Drug and alcohol abuse
Holidays
A break-up
A death
When you start to feel depressed, or when things are beginning to compile , here are 6 ways for you to feel better and obtain yourself motivated and possibly slip away from the misery of depression.

  1. Get up and Move

Get out of bed no matter how demanding it is. Achieving physical activity when depressed is difficult. However once up, make yourself do minor things to elevate your energy. You can always go back to bed later for a nap.

Make your bed. Brush your teeth. Do the dishes. Get the mail. Read the newspaper. Feed your cat. Sit on the porch. Call people you know. Go on the computer. There are numerous minor things to settle on from. Do them all or just one or two. Of course, if you have to go to work or school then you are way ahead of the game.

  1. Get in the Shower

Taking a hot shower will wake you up and cause you to feel refreshed and clean.

Get out of your pajamas or night attire and into something you are not ashamed of wearing outside your home. When you look pleasantly, you feel worthwhile, and when you feel worthwhile, it is a self-esteem boost.

Someone once told me when you’re depressed, take a shower, and wash your troubles away. So I go with that. On many occasions, I even have hauled myself literally crying to the shower, trying to scrub away depression. There is something about crying your sadness away within the shower that creates you are feeling somewhat revived.

  1. Put On A Happy Face

Put on some make-up, fix your hair up, shave that stubble off. Sometimes, with depression, we don’t take beneficial care of ourselves as we normally would. When you feel clean, refreshed, and polished, it’s harder to think less of yourself.

By doing my hair, I add the gel and blow dry it for a moment , and that i am good to travel . My hair is wild usually. Which is fine. If it is clean, I feel better. So get going and placed on that happy face.

  1. Tidy Up

Clean up and organize you living area. When our surroundings are dark, dirty, or messy, you start to reflect that atmosphere, falling deeper into depression.

Keeping your work and lebensraum clean, well-lit, and maintained, causes you to feel good about accomplishing something.

Keep the curtains open, let the sunshine through. It’s a good way of getting your daily dose of vitamin D. I rarely shut my curtains. I have a glass slider and a bedroom window. So, whatever sun I can get i’m optimistic. So vacuum, dust, and start cleaning your house or apartment.

  1. Listen to Music

Crank up the radio, or put on a DVD and dance. Strut around the house footloose and fancy free. There are all kinds of music that will get you moving if you just motivate yourself. Irish, Latin, Salsa, Reggae and more. Find something that you can move to, something up-beat and cheerful. Something that gets you moving and motivated. Let the music guide you into a better place.

  1. No Procrastinating

Tackle something you’ve been putting off doing. Even small accomplishments start your day by giving your self-confidence the increase it needs. If you are a writer and you like to write an essay or paper, write.

Take pictures, knit, clean out the attic you’ve got been aiming to do. If I can get one article done each day , I even have accomplished something. I attempt to get a 4 page article finished a minimum of four days week. TRY being the main word. Accomplishing one activity, one day at a time.

Working Through Depression

These things are not going to work without a concentrated effort. For the steps to work you must take an active role in your depression.

Sleeping is one of the safest activities to do when you are depressed. And at times, that is all you can do. But at one point, you’re going to have to come out from under the covers and find the light. So next time you feel like you are moving into the darkness try to motivate yourself to do at least one activity to keep your mind from falling even further into the pit of darkness.

Lucid Dreaming

We have all been dreaming since we were little kids. To enter the land of infinite possibilities where literally anything is possible is what every kid wishes when he or she dozed off to sleep. When we sleep our subconscious mind at times starts to make up situations and sequences which we see in our head. These situations and sequences are called dreams. These series of events that our mind makes us see can feel very vivid and real. Whatever a human can possibly think of can exist and can be even experienced in the dream world.

But we usually don’t have the ability to control our dreams. Nor do we realise that we are in a dream. But imagine being able to control your dreams and dream of whatever you want. That way of dreaming is known as lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming is an art of dreaming where the dreamer is aware that he is in a dream and has control over it to some extent. Lucid dreaming is an extremely difficult and near impossible skill. One may train his mind to lucid dream for the whole of his or her life and still not master it.

This is because our brain is a very complex organ if not the most complex organ. That’s why every part in our body can be replaced with a man made machine except the brain. And gaining complete mastery over the subconscious part of the brain comes out to be a bigger and near impossible challenge.

Imagine being able to control your dreams and experience anything you can positively think of. Be in any scenario, literally be the god of your own world. Lucid dreaming seems pretty amazing on paper but unfortunately can’t be done by everyone.

One reason why mastering it becomes especially hard is that we do not dream every time we sleep. Nor can we control when we dream and when we don’t. Lucid dream is about a dream where while in your dream your subconscious brain snaps and becomes conscious of the fact that it’s dreaming.

But it is no way close to deciding when to dream. We also dream for approximately 5-10 mins when we dream which may seem like a long time in the dream world.

People have come up with methods to try to lucid dream but none of those prove to be successful. One method to try to dream lucid is counting your fingers.

If one develops a habit of counting their fingers throughout the day and accidentally the subconscious mind starts to make you count your fingers in the dream you might start to lucid dream. This is because when only the subconscious part of our brain is awake we are unable to process numbers so if in a dream you start to count something. You would not be able to. And that error counts as a snapping factor, whenever the number of fingers you have in your dream do not add up to 10 your mind instantly becomes aware that you are dreaming and gains a bit of control.

Good luck trying to lucid dream.
