What is UX designing

UX also called user experience design, which is similar to product designing. But Rather in a neat and clear way UX is launching or making a product that is user-friendly, easy to use, and highly accessible. In no way UX need to be confused with the visual appearance of the product but rather UX focus to provide comfort and ease in the usage of the product in day to day necessity of life.

UX is not a new career option but has been around since the nineties coined by Donald Norman. UX designer focuses on the interaction between users with the product. An example may include making a website, an app for designing a Juicer, or a coffee machine.

How UI and UX are different:

UI and UX are confused with many people. UI and UX are completely 2 different terms and 2 different careers. UI is user interaction whereas UX is user experience.

UI is the features involved with the product may be a phone with multiple options which are arranged in a manner to bring easy accessibility to the user, this is user interaction whereas UX is getting to know the experience of the user with the products, which can be known talking to people about the product, ask them about feedback. Surely, the user expectation depends from customer to customer and the company needs to launch one product that fulfills all these demands like the applications required by a teenage girl/boy will be gaming-friendly, pro camera, high battery life, multiple applications, and good RAM but if we talk about an old age person the need is different which may include good speaker, easy accessibility, good battery, maybe a radio.

Now we can easily figure out that the need of the product expectation varies from age group, profession, etc and all these are included in user experience (UI)

What does a UX Designer do:

UX designer’s purpose is to create easy, accessible, and efficient products. The main task of a UX designer to focus on the user and improve the quality of the experience.

UX designer is not just about visuals but also focuses on overall activities to provide the best.

What skills required to become a UX designer:

  1. Knowledge about software (may include web and app development)
  2. Problem-solving
  3. Communication
  4. Coding

Other requirements to become a successful UX designer

  • A bachelors degree in tech fields
  • A lot of experience with some prior internships in the same field.

More understanding on UX designer

UX designing is definitely a good career to opt for

According to a compensation data company, Payscale.com, the average salary of a UX designer in India is 6,95,863.

UX designer keeps track of all your feelings and emotions at every level from buying, using and leaving, or changing the product. It keeps a record of what the user likes in the product and what the user does not like about the product. It keeps a record of all the age groups and then comes up with solutions.

Synthetic Intelligence: Is it the new 7th kingdom?

From watching ‘I am mother’ to binging ‘Is the world going to be invaded by robots in the future?’ at 2am in your bedroom, the human mind has always weighed the possibility of synthetic intelligence taking up human roles in the near future. Even though I may be a tech person, somewhere in the least of my concerns, there is a red light that blinks whenever I come across such content. So is this red light just a jitter or does it scream the doomsday of humankind?

Spoiler alert for the book ‘Origin’!

If you have read the book ‘Origin‘ by the renowned author Dan Brown, then you may have been horrified when you reached the climax. The synthetic intelligence product Winston, much like our present-day Alexa and Google Assistant, but way advanced, plots and kills it’s own creator. Now, the twist here is that Winston did nothing but what it was said to do. Yes! Shocking right?

The only disturbing fact is the lengths it goes to execute that command. Because, unlike humans, they don’t have a way out. They are programmed to carry out a task and do whatever it takes to do it. The factor of unpredictability or ‘escape’ doesn’t exist here. But humans use it all the time. My job stresses me too much? Quit it! I’m unable to concentrate on online classes? Then don’t! Scroll Instagram!

Yin-Yang symbol and synthetic intelligence
The yin-yang symbol represents order and chaos

The human mind strives to maintain order. It does not like chaos. So it eliminates negative outcomes/thoughts automatically. If you don’t believe it, then think about the fear that would engulf each person if they consider the fact that the probability they could die right now is 4%. Maybe this is what makes us humans. The ability to accept failure. The ability to ignore problems and take a positive outlook. The ability to expect good from everyone.

Humanity and synthetic intelligence

The chances that synthetic intelligence could be the 7th kingdom is definitely high. Statistics don’t lie. But that doesn’t mean its judgement day for humankind. It took million years of Darwinian evolution to end up to the species that we are now. All the fetish around synthetic/artificial intelligence, Iot and automata was formed within a few decades. For these intelligences to reach human maturity it could take a million more years. Until then, it is safe to say that you needn’t worry about sci-fi documentaries or films that romanticize robot invasion.

I hope I’ve given you enough to think about for the day. Here is a quote to conclude the post, which ironically was the inspiration behind it.

One machine can do the work of 50 ordinary men. No machine can do the work of one extraordinary man

Mental Health: Best ways to take care of it

Mental Health problems have persisted for a long time. However, in the context of India, mental health problems were only being highlighted, and precautions to take care of them were only started to be given in the contemporary context.

Mental health is defined as the well-being of the state of mind of a person. The sanity of a person is measured in terms of mental health. The more sane and cheerful the person is, the better their mental health is doing. If the person is depressed and has feelings of sorrow, fear, or so on in the presence or absence of such emotion-causing factors, the person is said to be having mental issues.

The prevalent notion is that mental issues lead to insanity. However, this is not always the case. The word “mental” has been vilified by society. Its original meaning was lost and was replaced with the meaning of “insanity.” This notion is being slowly changed by society by the rising number of counselors and therapists.

How does one take care of their mental health?

Mental health is just as important as a person’s physical health. It is directly connected with physical health as well. Any imbalance with one will affect the other. Keeping one’s physical and mental health is the key to a good lifestyle. Here are a few points on how to take care of your mental health.

  • Know what stresses you out: Knowing what stresses you out is winning half the battle. It may be exams, confrontation, or anything. Knowing what stresses you out will help you recognize those fears or anxiety and handle them better. For example, if you have a fear of examination, the best way to overcome it is to continuously take a lot of mock tests to familiarise yourself with the examination conditions. Similarly, know that each problem has a solution. If you are stressing out, figure out what is causing your stress and strike the problem at its root.
  • Talk to your friends or family: The best way to overcome and keep your mental health in top condition is to socialize. This may include talking to friends, hanging out with them, or talking to your family members. You can only indulge your secrets to those who are close to you. Hence, talk to your friends if you are facing any mental health issues. If you have depression or anxiety, tell your friends, they will be able to help you out and cheer you up. Know that there will be people out there to help you overcome the challenges.
  • Exercise: Exercising will release endorphins which make your body feel ecstatic and happy. This not only keeps your physical health in the top condition but will also keep your mental health good as well. It has been found out that exercising has helped a lot of people suffering from depression. People who worry about their physical appearance are more likely to fall into depression. Hence, it is advisable to hit the gym and lift weights to keep both your physical and mental health good.
  • Seek out things that you like: If you are a person who loves to dive into the fantasy worlds of books, please do so. It will help you out a lot. It will give your mind a much-needed break from reality, and you will feel more refreshed once you are done. You could also watch your favorite movie or TV series, whichever you like more. Doing things that make you happy will increase your mental health. It will be much better if you can seek out things that make you excited and happy. In most of our lives, we seek out things that never make sense in the end. That is why it is important to learn new things that you like and do things you love.
  • Meet a therapist: If things are really bad and you feel like you are in a constant pit of despair every single moment of your life. It would be best to approach a therapist, who will then guide you and help you out tremendously. Do not fear that you had to resort to this. This is the only best solution to taking care of your mental health.

Mental problems plague most of us. The only thing that defines a person is how they can overcome those problems effectively and bring out a better person from within themselves.

Moving to chennai

Coming to chennai would be difficult I guessed
Being a city so advanced and progressed
But my heart has readdressed
Thanks to the amazing memories I share
Now every morning I breathe a new fresh air
But I am blessed tho
To have lived in a cute city of west
Where festivities and people were full of zest

Chennai has a whole different vibe a different amazing smell of medu vadaa and idlis all over the street in the morning . the smell of the concoction of filter coffee in the morning adds a whole new spark to the day.

Coming to new places can be very difficult especially with a whole shift in zone.
The weather conditions and people are different everywhere cultures are different language is definately quite different but all that is common throughout india.and something present in all the cities is the spirit of brotherhood and unity.that just made things a lot easier for me .

MOVIE REVIEW “The color purple”

“The color purple” is a breath-taking historical drama starring Whoopi Goldberg as Celie the main protagonist directed by Steven Spielberg. This movie claimed many prestigious awards like Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, Blue Ribbon Award for Best Foreign Film, etc. The world premiere occurred on December 18, 1985.

The plot is based on the Pulitzer prize-winning 1982 novel “The color purple” by Alice Walker. I always enjoyed the script, the idea of how a woman who is timid, terrified is converted to a strong independent personality at the end of the movie.

Celie is a woman cruelly treated by the world, a shy, frightened little girl whose life consists mostly of eluding the men who want to rape and beat her. As a young teenager, she is raped by the man she takes to be her father, and both of her babies a son and a daughter are taken away from her. Then after this Celie is married off to Albert by her stepfather, Albert- a brutal farmer, who beat her, uses her as a servant and use her as an object to satisfy his lust and also convinces her she is ugly.

There are many emotional scenes in this movie but for me, the scene that pulled my heartstrings is where Celie is separated from her sister Nettie-the one person who loves Celie, who understands Celie. Nettie is one of the beautiful things Celie has in her life. When her father tries to assault her, she flees to Celie for safety now then Albert tries to assault her but when she fights him off, he throws her from his house. This scene is so much emotional, powerful and real. Hats off to the actors Deserta Jackson and Akosua Busia who played young Celie and Nettie, they both are so good in the movie.

The climax in the movie comes when two powerful, strong independent women came to Celie’s life. One is Sofia who is married to Harpo (son of Albert from his first wife) and the other women is Shug Avery the one person Albert cherishes in his life. Shug a jazz singer who remains Albert’s one and only true love. Shug could see the beauty beneath Celie’s fear, she became the transformative power in Celie’s life.

One of the most joyous experiences I have in the movie is the scene where Shug tells Celie “Oh miss Celie why you always cover up your smile, show me that pretty smile” and for the first time Celie laughed her heart out and this scene is the favorite and most joyous scene of mine.

This movie has many scenes where feminist criticism is shown I.e. the inequality between the sexes, the injustice of domestic and sexual abuse, and women’s struggle for recognition as individuals who deserve fair and equal treatment. Some of the scenes are: –

  • Violence by males upon females is a common occurrence even in relationships that are quite loving, like that between Harpo and his wife Sofia. He beats her because a woman is supposed to mind a man. Beating a wife is regarded as an acceptable way to assert male authority.
  • Women are not allowed to laugh at a man like in the scene where Celie passed comments on Albert and every woman present there starts laughing at Albert, Harpo says “Shut up! It’s bad luck for a woman to laugh at the man.”

The most powerful and turning point of the movie is when Shug finds out about Nettie’s letter, Celie discovered that her children and her sister is alive whom she thought had died.

Now, Celie becomes so powerful that she questioned Albert about the letters and finally takes a stand for herself and told Albert that she is leaving him and going with Shug. They both have a war of words in which again Albert tries to convince Celie he says “You’re black, you’re poor, you’re ugly, you’re a woman! You’re nothing!” to which Celie replied “Until you do right by me everything you even think about gonna fail! I’m poor, black, I may even be ugly. But dear god, I’m here.”  This is the favorite dialog of mine in the movie. This particular dialog shows how a shy, frightened woman is transformed into a strong personality and speaks for her own rights.

Hats off to the director and cast especially Whoopi Goldberg who played Celie. When a movie character is really working, we become that character. That’s what the movies offer: Escapism into lives other than our own. For a time during watching “The color purple” my mind, my soul connects with the character Celie as I empathize with her struggle and her victory at the end.

This movie justifies its main central idea I.e. self-discovery, womanhood- how a woman’s mutual sympathy and support can act as a defense against the oppression of men.

Really loved the movie!! Hope you all will enjoy the movie.

Procrastination -A failure

Procrastination can stop your growth
Procrastinate now and panic later

It’s Saturday evening and you are working furiously on a task which you have to complete before seven (deadline )and started cursing yourself for not starting it sooner.

Does it sound familiar? So ,why did this happened?

May be you wasted your time in the tea break watching TV and other stuff delayed your tasks and postpone it for later.

You are not alone many people are facing this problem nowdays. We give time to another things instead of doing the things which is important and avoid it and postponed it for later and at last we are not able to succeed in the task which was given to us.
Do you know, why this happened? Is it only a coincidence? No you procrastinate from the task which you had given and ignore it.
Being procrastinate is also a failure it usually happens because of lack of motivation and fear of failure .
Procrastination makes us lazy and we never achieve our goal .We get afraid before trying anything and ended up with no results. It is a wastage of time and time is the most important in a person life like how effectively they utilize the time they have .

If we keep procrastinating so we will never achieve our goal ‘it has nothing to do with time management’, without even a start we give up .Procrastination is self defeating behavior we avoid the tasks and put them off we do not believe and enjoy them and avoid to make ourself unhappy and have a fear of failure but doing this will never help us in self development if we keep delaying or postponing our tasks at last we only received disappointments by ourself. Only avoiding things will never help us out so just starts enjoy your work from now on things take time if we get afraid without trying so it will never help us out and we  can’t run from that  just let go of our fear .So,  just start from now either its’ Now or never ‘don’t procrastinate and run from the things which is important to you. Psychology  says to overcome from procrastination is

▶get rid of catastrophizing

▶focus on your ”why”.

▶self believe

▶dont make excuses

Try to start the task as soon as possible for better results.
Start believing in yourself and make to overcome from procrastination successfully, you need to figure out why you procrastinate & how your procrastination is preventing from achieving your goal ,so you can formulate a concrete plan of action and execute it better to check out that you are following your plan time to time, and keep focused for what you are doing now never forward your work for later in unnecessary situation.
#doitnowornever

Don't give up without trying it
Never give up without trying

Are underground cities the answer to climate change?

Underground cities are not unknown to humankind. Mankind has planned, made, and inhabited underground cities from ancient times. The most fascinating of them is the underground city of Derinkuyu in Turkey which was discovered in 1963. The underground city of Derinkuyu was made in the 8th century to hide from continuous wars and extreme climatic conditions. It is an eighteen-storied underground town containing living rooms, schoolrooms, kitchens, wells, and even a winery that could hold 20,000 people inside. Ventilation, water, and light could reach every level and there were systems to seal each level during an attack. Such subterranean cities can be a solution to changing climatic conditions. As surface temperatures are increasing, governments are devising underground city master plans.

Extreme weather events like harsh winters and scorching summers can be avoided in such subterranean cities where ambient temperatures will be maintained throughout the year and heat loss is also significantly reduced. Drinking water sources are comparatively purer than surface water contaminated by runoffs and moreover, with the ever-growing population, there will be a shortage of land in the very near future. These could be some of the reasons why many countries around the globe have started focussing on such subterranean architecture.

Helsinki is an underground city that covers a massive area of 214 square kilometers containing tunnels, museums, swimming pools, and other recreation areas. This underground master plan was made to avoid extreme winters, war threats from Russia. Further such examples in today’s world can be seen in the Earthscraper in Mexico City, The Subtropolis Kansas city, and the proposed underground science city in Singapore.

Therefore, with the increasing risk of global warming and its consequences, it is very logical to plan underground spaces that can help to save both space and energy on the surface. With more and more countries showing interest in such architecture, underground plans could be the future of cities.

TV as medium of mass education

One of the most important addition in the electronic world is TV. With the advent of TV, man’s scope of learning has increased to a great extent.

It helps to keep an eye on everything from a distance. It is an important medium of advertisement in addition to the recreation it provides for the young and old alike. Drama, cinema and many important events are screened on it. Important sports events are screened on TV. In fact, TV has brought the whole inside room.

It has a vital role to play as a medium of mass education. Audio-visual system of education has become possible only after the advent of TV. It teaches thousands of students at a time with lessons projected on TV screens. Sportsmen can be taught how to improve their performances by modern training schedule through videos. Farmers can be taught to produce more by proper utilisation of modern scientific processes as advised by experts on TV. Even housewives in the rural areas can learn about first aid, family planning and so many other things in their leisure hours. The quiz programmes are always informative and interesting.

“Black Fungus” Epidemic ?

“Black Fungus” or Mucormycosis is a disease that causes blackening or discoloration over the nose, blurred or double vision, chest pain, breathing difficulties, and coughing blood. This disease usually infects people with a weaker or subdued immune system. As the second wave of the deadly Covid-19 virus batters India, a new disease has caused a new burden on the already tensed healthcare system. ICMR has informed that black fungus is very vulnerable to people with diabetes and people who have recovered from severe covid-19 infection.

The black fungus has already infected a large number of people from thirteen states and the union territory of India, it has also killed a significant number of people. For now, the number of case stand at 7,250 and the death toll stands 219.

Black Fungus

The central government has already asked four states and one union territory to declare black fungus an epidemic as these places continue to see exponential growth in no of infections.

The central government has said in a press conference that, in the normal course, our body’s immune system successfully fights such fungal infections. However, we know that COVID-19 affects our immune system. Moreover, the treatment of COVID-19 patients involves the intake of drugs like dexamethasone, which suppresses our immune system response.

Due to these factors, COVID-19 patients face a renewed risk of failing the battle against attacks mounted by organisms such as micromycetes. The government spokesperson also said that there is a risk for the covid patients who are undergoing oxygen therapy to catch this disease has it has a humidifier where this fungus can easily grow. ICMR has found that this disease is very uncommon in patients without diabetes and has said that recovery depends upon early diagnosis and treatment.

White Fungus another disease on rising?

 How to Treat Black Fungus?

According to the procedure suggested by ICMR, the infection can start with an infection of the skin, it can spread to other parts of the body. Treatment involves surgically removing all dead and infected tissue. In some patients, this may result in loss of the upper jaw or in some cases even the eye. Remedies can also include a 4-6 week course of anti-fungal treatment. As it affects various parts of the body, treatment requires a team of young biologists, internal medicine specialists, intensivist neurologists, ENT specialists, veterinarians, dentists, surgeons, and others.

ICMR also stressed Covid-19 patients with diabetes to take utmost care. It has also asked all the covid-19 recovered patient’s to not lower their guard and take high precautions.

ICMR has asked the doctors to give a controlled prescription of steroids and Covid-19 drugs like Tocilizumob, Itolizumab as these drugs are known to suppress immunity.
