MOTIVATION IN MANAGEMENT

The term motivation is derived from the word motive and motives are expressions of a person’s needs and hence they are personal and internal and in this context, the term need should not be associated with urgency or nay pressing desire for something and it simply means something within an individual that prompts him to action and motives or needs are ‘whys’ of behaviour and they start and maintain activity and determine the general direction of the person and motives give direction to human behaviour because they are directed towards certain goals which may be conscious or sub-conscious. Motives are directed towards the achievement of certain goals which in turn determine the behaviour of individuals and this behaviour ultimately leads to goal-directed activities such as preparing food and a goal activity such as eating food and in other words, unsatisfying needs result in tension with an individual and engage him in search of the way to relieve this tension.

INTERRELATED TERMS

While discussing motivation, we need to understand three interrelated terms- Motive, Motivation, and Motivators.

2. Motivation- It is a process of inducing people to perform to their best ability to accomplish a goal and it is a psychological phenomenon which arises from the feeling of needs and wants of individuals and it causes a goal-directed behaviour.

3. Motivators- Motivators are the incentives or techniques used to motivate the people in an organization and common motivators used by the mangers are increment, bonus, promotion, recognition, respect etc.

Motivations may be defined as the complex of forces inspiring a person at work to intensify his willingness to use his maximum capability for the achievement of certain objectives. According to Koontz and O’Donnell “ Motivation is a general term applying to the entire class of drivers, desires, needs, wishes and similar forces and to say that managers motivate their subordinates is to say that they do those things which they hope will satisfy drives and desires and induce the subordinates to act in the desired manner”

FEATURES OF MOTIVATION

1. Motivation is an internal Feeling/ instinct

Motivation is a psychological phenomenon which generates from within an individual and needs are the feelings arising in the mind of a person that he lacks certain things and such feelings affect the behaviour of that individual and causes him to do work and hence, motivation is the process of making an individual feel his needs.

2. Motivation produces goal-directed behaviour

Motivation is a power which leads the employees to the achievement of their goal and the behaviour of the motivated employees clearly shows that they are inclined towards the achievement of their goal.

3. Motivation can either be positive or negative

Positive motivation provides positive rewards like an increase in pay. Promotion, recognition etc. Negative motivation uses negative means like punishment, stopping increments, threatening etc., which also may induce a person to act in the desired way.

Move against Chinese apps is welcome!

The administration has moved shrewdly to square 59 applications claimed or supported by the Chinese – including famous ones, for example, TikTok with in excess of 120 million dynamic Indian clients. It’s not only a proportion of reprisal for Chinese interruptions over the LAC and slaughtering of Indian officers – it’s additionally basic for security reasons. Stealthy information pilferage is a genuine worry with Chinese stages; China has little respect for licensed innovation or protection guidelines. Given that Chinese organizations fundamentally need to work with the Chinese government, the last can utilize these stages to mount digital assaults against India, or acquire granular level knowledge on singular Indians, when the two nations are going head to head along the LAC.

In contrast to 1962, this time the challenge with China is a multidimensional one. China will utilize its immense monetary, innovative and conciliatory clout to hector India and subordinate it to Chinese interests. Moreover, we also ought to be set up to utilize non-direct choices against China and hit them where it harms. This is the reason we must be savvy about managing Chinese imports. While closing off fundamental supplies, for example, dynamic pharmaceutical fixings and other basic contributions for Indian industry is senseless, focusing on Chinese web stages shuts a security escape clause and use India’s colossal market potential to squeeze China.

This is on the grounds that for a considerable lot of these Chinese stages, India is their biggest development showcase outside of China. Also, forbidding them doesn’t have that quite a bit of an effect on Indian industry. Without a doubt, Indian clients of these Chinese stages will be troubled. Yet, this is additionally a chance to create Indian options utilizing our qualities in IT. Nor would we be able to be exposed targets for Chinese digital assaults like the one that hit Australia as of late, devastating sites identifying with government and fundamental administrations.

Valid, there is likewise the issue of Chinese speculations, remembering for Indian new businesses. Truth be told, a political slugfest has broken out among BJP and Congress over Chinese gifts to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and PM Cares finance. This would be a decent an ideal opportunity to audit the whole range of Chinese interests in India and get rid of the lawful escape clause at present allowing remote gifts to ideological groups. The exact opposite thing we need is Indian governmental issues being affected by Chinese cash. Taken together, we have to get ready on different measurements to handle the China danger shrewdly and comprehensively .

The most mysterious thing is that all people thought that the plane had some sort of time travel. While getting this information I was shocked and thought it might be some type of joke but no this is real. How can a plane can be vanished for 37 years? How the passengers where living in the flight? How did the fuel of flight did ended up? In my mind there were many types of questions.

The plane took off from New York without any problem to Miami, but after 3 hours the plane had not reach in the destination airport. When the plane didn’t reach at the airport the Miami airport started to find the plane but it was no where. The New York contacted the Miami airport and told that the plane had vanished from the radar in the mid-travel.Then the air controller started searching for the plane but no traces were found. How that can be possible the plain which took off never landed?

Then it was declared that the plane had crashed and all are dead, but the family members of passengers were asking many questions. They even don’t know what to happen the plane.

Is the plane landed before without knowledge of anybody or still it is vanished?

The Bubonic plague

The Chinese Authorities on Sunday warned of a bubonic plague in inner Mongolia as it was suspected that people there are actually getting infected by the plague. Bubonic plague has happened in the past in Europe around Twelfth century, at that time it had killed Millions of people and due to the plague one third of the population of Europe was wiped out. It was then called the black death.

This is a rare but very serious bacterial disease caused by Yesinia Pestis a type bacteria, this disease can be spread by Rodents and infected fleas. When an infected flea bites you, the y pestis enters into your body and travels through the lymphatic system of your body and then starts to multiply itself in the lymph nodes. As lymph nodes are the perfect medium for them to replicate these nodes then becomes tense and inflamed and as these inflamed lymph nodes becomes sore and would eventually after some time become filled with Pus.

Any disease can be identified if we know the symptoms. Though the symptoms of this plague is not much different from other normal diseases but there are some symptoms which would  indicate that its this disease. The protrusion of lymph nodes which can be as big as chicken eggs, this protrusion can be in different parts of the body like groin, or under the armpits, this is the major symptom. There are also chances that one may have fever, chills, pain in the head, tiredness, some body pains which can be a symptom of this disease.

This disease is curable, as the medicine for this disease is developed. The time between exposure and the first symptom to  appear is twenty four hours. If checked in time it can be treated as the recovery rate is very high. This plague can take a serious turn if it reaches the lungs, when this happens it is called the pneumonic plague but it only happens to some people, because of this the mortality rate of this plague is increased by thirty percent if the pneumonic plague is not treated in time.

The transmission of this disease is just by the infected fleas, rodents , mice .Human to human transmission is rare but yes if a person develops Pneumonic plague then the transfer can happen by the the droplets of the sneeze or exchanging body fluids. If a person dies because of the Bubonic plague, the dead body of this person can actually infect the plague to his close relatives as the source of the infection is still active inside the body.

In the past the plague was treated by quarantines and self isolation , Antibiotics have been developed to treat plague. The disease can be treated if early diagnostics is taken and a person can be recovered.

WHO has put  guidelines about the plague in the website, which says that  from 2010 to 2014 there has been three thousand two hundred and forty eight cases where five hundred and twenty eight people died. So people should take strict prevention measures so as to stop the spread of this plague.

US says foreign students whose classes move online cannot stay, Indian students to be second-worst affected..

The United States said Monday it would not allow foreign students to remain in the country if all of their classes are moved online in the fall because of the coronavirus crisis.

“Nonimmigrant F-1 and M-1 students attending schools operating entirely online may not take a full online course load and remain in the United States,” US Immigration and Custom Enforcement said in a statement.

“Active students currently in the United States enrolled in such programs must depart the country or take other measures, such as transferring to a school with in-person instruction to remain in lawful status,” ICE said.

“If not, they may face immigration consequences including, but not limited to, the initiation of removal proceedings.”

ICE said the State Department “will not issue visas to students enrolled in schools and/or programs that are fully online for the fall semester nor will US Customs and Border Protection permit these students to enter the United States.”

F-1 students pursue academic coursework and M-1 students pursue “vocational coursework,” according to ICE.

Most US colleges and universities have not yet announced their plans for the fall semester.

A number of schools are looking at a hybrid model of in-person and online instruction but some, including Harvard University, have said all classes will be conducted online.

Harvard said 40 percent of undergraduates would be allowed to return to campus but their instruction would be online.

There were more than one million international students in the United States for the 2018-19 academic year, according to the Institute of International Education (IIE).

That accounted for 5.5 percent of the total US higher education population, the IIE said, and international students contributed $44.7 billion to the US economy in 2018.

The largest number of international students came from China, followed by India, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Canada.

200% increase in cyber incidents in last two months, says top PMO official…

There has been a 200 per cent rise in cyber incidents in India in the last couple of months but there is no evidence that the cases increased due to the tensions between India and China, Chief Information Security Officer in the Prime Minister’s Office Gulshan Rai said on Monday.

‘There have been larger cases of phishing, service issues and ransomware which have gone up. These cases have gone up not merely because of heightened tensions, these cases have gone up from January and February-end because of the culture of working from home,’ he said.

During an interactive session organised by payments company EPS here, Rai also said that offices typically have necessary security measures taken in, and urged people to be more careful about what they download and stick to verified applications itself.

‘It is certainly true that during the last couple of months, the cyber incidents (like) hacking systems have gone up significantly. Somebody may say more than 200 per cent (increase), that’s the figure which is available,’ he said.

‘… there is no evidence as of now that the attacks have gone up due to the tensions between the two countries (India and China),’ he added.

He was responding to a query by a reporter that after the violent faceoff between India and China, there were a lot of reports that cyber attacks would increase on India’s infrastructure and banking services.

Rai said there are dedicated agencies which are monitoring the situation and preventing the attacks.

Ties between India and China have hit a new low following the violent clashes in the Galwan Valley in Ladakh, which left 20 Indian army personnel dead. India has also banned 59 Chinese apps citing security concerns.

To a question on reliance on Chinese products, he said China is a world leader in manufacturing and everyone buys from the country knowing that they are vulnerable.

This is where Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for self-reliance is crucial, Rai said, adding that other countries, including America and European nations, are also looking at ways of reducing dependence on China.

‘I think in a couple of years, there will be a lot of shifting towards an Aatma Nirbhar programme. America, Europe as well, everyone is charged up. We need to take steps to check on the misuse or the misfunctioning of the Chinese systems and there are ways and means to do that,’ he said.

In order to reduce incidents of fraud in banking, Rai suggested a method where the receiver of funds from online transfers is not able to withdraw the money for an hour.

He said there is a need to overhaul cyber security architecture at banks because of the rapid changes in technologies, even though a significant amount of ground has been covered in the past.

In cases of critical infrastructure like refineries and power plants, Rai said it is a blessing in disguise that much of such facilities in India are not connected to the wider internet but eventually efficiency needs will force them to get connected and there will be a need for better security at such facilities.

The incident at the atomic power station at Tamil Nadu’s Kudankulam in 2019 was blown out of proportion by the media, he said, adding that systems connected to the internet and the plant operations were totally segregated there.

‘The attack happened on the MIS system in the office, where the hackers have been able to reach and get the files and post it on the dark net. Our control system was safe and they are not connected on the internet,’ he said.

‘We won’t let China take reins’: US pledges military support to India in conflict with China…

Washington, DC: The United States will continue to stand strong in the ongoing conflict between India and China, said a top White House official on Monday. He further claimed that no one in China’s periphery is safe from Chinese aggression.

When asked about the US Navy deploying two aircraft carriers in the South China Sea amid the ongoing tensions, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said, “The message is clear. We’re not going to stand by and let China or anyone else take the reins in terms of being the most powerful, dominant force, whether it’s in that region or over here.”

“Our military might stands strong and will continue to stand strong, whether it’s in relationship to a conflict between India and China or anywhere else,” he added.

Meadows went on to add that the US’ mission is to make sure the world knows that it still has the preeminent fighting force in the world.

Meanwhile, India and China continue to remain locked in a stand-off in areas like Pangong Tso, Galwan Valley and Gogra Hot Springs in Ladakh. The tensions have heightened between the two countries after their respective army personnel clashed in Galwan Valley resulting in the death of 20 Indian troops.

China begins withdrawing troops from Ladakh

Yesterday, the Chinese military began withdrawing troops from the Galwan Valley and Gogra Hot Spring after National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held lengthy discussions a day earlier.

However, Ladakh standoff is not the only dispute that China is currently engaged in. It has conflicts in both the East China Sea and the South China Sea. Beijing has heavily increased the military presence in many of the islands and reefs it controls in the region.

China claims almost all of the South China Sea. Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan have counter claims over the area. It should be noted that both the East and South China sea are stated to be rich in minerals, oil and other natural resources and are vital to global trade.

Diplomacy has gone strongly digital, says Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla

Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla has said that India has been  proactive in assessing and dealing with the challenges caused by COVID-19.

In his virtual address to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India on implementing the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat, Mr Shringla said that saving lives has been our foremost priority. He said, while the case load in the country continues to be high, India  has fared comparatively better than many other countries with a low death rate and high recovery rate. He said,  to  deal with the economic challenges posed by the pandemic and bring the  economy of the country back on track, the Prime Minister has enunciated a forward-looking economic approach under the rubric of Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan. The stimulus package of nearly  20 Lakh Crore rupees launched  under the Abhiyaan aims to both reinvigorate the economy and provide a social safety net to our vulnerable sections. BJP new election campaign idea!

With its initial reception of advanced innovations and absence of asset requirements, BJP is the main ideological group heading into the Bihar get together races without agonizing a lot over contacting the electorate in the midst of the coronavirus alarm. So incredible has been BJP’s initial flood that a grip of resistance groups drove by RJD have contradicted its virtual meetings refering to the requirement for a level-playing field. The interest of the gatherings is probably not going to be acknowledged by the Election Commission as this is an experimental method of battling.

On the other hand, gatherings can spare themselves the expense of transportation and sorting out enormous physical meetings by receiving advancements like Zoom. Reports additionally show that BJP has moved to make a tremendous Whatsapp bunch framework down to the corner level to enhance its informing. It is even conceivable that this political race could see the BJP upstage boss clergyman Nitish Kumar and JD(U) with Nitish unfit to use his interface with voters through ground rallies.

BJP will likewise cheer up at the thunderings inside the restriction camp. Tejashwi Yadav has lost agreeableness among RJD’s partners and Congress seems, by all accounts, to be gauging the chance of testing political openings made by Lalu Prasad Yadav’s shroud. BJP’s definitive desire has been to shake off the partner stuff in Bihar, as it could in Maharashtra. While BJP has reaffirmed Nitish’s supremacy, nothing is changeless in governmental issues and it is altogether inside the domain of plausibility that innovation could rush the following huge disturbance in Bihar legislative issues.
