GIRL IN THE BASEMENT

We all have heard many news about girl or girl child or woman being sexually harassed and abused by men. In most of the cases the culprit is or the culprits are the victim’s close relations like friend, boyfriend, even brother and father.

How much long can you stay at one place without stepping outside a room. Just think kept locked in room for one day. But you will be shocked and get anger, empathy, sorrow all at a time when you hear about a incident that happened in Austria. In Austria, a girl named Elisabeth Fritzl has been kept locked in the basement for 24 years by her own father Josef Fritzl and also he used her as a sex slave. The most horrible thing is he fathered seven kids with his own daughter.

FRITZL CASE:

The cased was emerged in 2008 when a woman named Elisabeth Fritzl told the police in the town of Amstetten, Austria. The girl was raped several times by her father Josef Fritzl in the closed concealed area in the cellar of their own family home.

Josef Fritzl married Rosemarie with whom he had three sons and four daughters including Elisabeth. Elisabeth was began abused by his father when she was Eleven. After Elisabeth completing her education at age of 15, she joined a course to become waitress. In 1983, she ran away from her house and bought back by police after three weeks. Then she completed her waitress course and also pursued a job.

HOW SHE WAS CAPTIVATED:

In 1984, Elisabeth was 18 years old. Josef Fritzl asked his daughter Elisabeth to help him to install a door in his newly built cellar complex. She also agreed and went happily to help her father. But she had no idea how monstrous her father is and this is going to be her last time to see her family and the outside world in 24 years. After reaching the basement she was drugged, tied up and chained to a bed by her father. He kept her captivated for 24 years and raped her several times and fathered seven children. Elisabeth’s mother Rosemarie filed a missing person report. After a month Fritzl handed some letters to police that he forced her daughter to write. The letters are postmarked Braunau telling that Elisabeth became tired of living with her family. So she ran away from them and also don’t want them to come for her. If they do she would leave the country. They believed that she joined a religious cult.

ELISABETH AND HER SEVEN CHILDREN:

After the captivity, Fritzl visited Elisabeth almost everyday or three, four times a week. He constantly raped her to punish her. Elizabeth first baby died shortly after birth. She gave birth to her second child that was taken from her by her father. Fritzl put the baby before his house door and the baby was found by Rosemarie . She took the baby believing that the baby was abandoned by his parents. So they decided to raise the baby but Rosemarie doesn’t know the truth. The same was followed for the next two babies. Fritzl and his wife, who were approved by local social services authorities as their foster parents. Officials said that Fritzl doubtlessly  explained how three of his infant grandchildren had appeared on his doorstep. The family received regular visits from social workers, who saw and heard nothing to arouse their suspicions.

With no medical care, and given just disinfectant and a pair of dirty scissors, Elisabeth gave birth to seven babies in the cellar.

In 1994 after  another three children Kerstin, Stefan and Felix. Fritzl enlarged the room and provided the room with all kind of basic necessities like radio, television, food etc. Elizabeth taught her children to read and write. If they try to escape, Fritzl punish them by shutting off the lights or refusing to give food for days. They were threatened to be gassed if they try to escape. They received electric shocks as an punishment.

Fritzl had been planning the underground prison for years, excavating the garden and even building a swimming pool over the complex where barbecue guests swam, unaware Elisabeth and her children was trapped in her hellish prison below.

ESCAPE:

Kerstin’s fell into illness in April 2008 was the beginning of the end of Elisabeth’s ordeal. In an uncharacteristic act of mercy, Fritzl drove the 19-year-old to hospital where she was instantly taken into intensive care.

Police concerned about the deathly pale girl put out an appeal for her mother to contact them and Elisabeth, watching them on a TV in the cellar, begged her father to set her free.

Incredibly, he relented, driving her to hospital and telling police that the family had recently been released from the sect. But when officers managed to get Elisabeth alone, she revealed the whole shocking story – on condition she was never to see her father again.

The first thing she said was “No one will believe me.”

Even after all this all the cruelty done by Fritzl, the lawyers tried to portray him as a loving father. After all the testimony, Josef Fritzl was sentenced to life imprisonment. He is still in Garsten Abbey jail. Elisabeth and her children were given therapy and treatment. I hope that now they are leading a happy and normal life.

Outsourcing of Services

A Business refers to a set of organised activities for production and exchange of goods and services, with an objective to earn profits.

It includes several services to complete the process for managing business enterprise.

There are certain important services that are rendered outside the business to enable the enterprise perform its primary functions smoothly.

These services include financial services , advertising services , customer support services , etc.

Services done through specialised agencies outside the business enterprise are known as outsourcing of services .

This practice is called Business Process Outsourcing (BPO ) .

Outsourcing means getting an external source service rather than an internal source of the enterprise.

Hence , instead of setting up it’s own department business enterprise outsource it from other external specialised agencies.

A business enterprise prefers to outsource those services that are specialised in nature and performed on a regular basis. These services include accounting data processing, content development , customer care , customer contact , legal services , repair work , advertising services, fittings , employment of employees , training of employees, payroll accounting, etc.

The outside company,  the service provider or a third-party provider, arranges for its own system of labour and technical activities  to perform the tasks or services by the hired  company .

In today’s competitive environment ,the main focus is to concentrate on core specialization and core – competency areas and outsource the rest activities.

The main intention of outsourcing service is that the business enterprise can concentrate on its core areas of competence and leave the additional work to be outsourced . Outsourcing of services is preferred for better quality and economy .As a result a business enterprise can focus its core task through the front office and leave the rest work meant for the outsourcing.

Business enterprises  often outsource as a way to lower costs, improve efficiencies and gain speed . The benefit underlying this  service is that because the third-party provider focuses on that particular task, it is able to do it better, faster and cheaper than the hiring company could.

Given such benefits, companies often decide to outsource supporting functions within their businesses so they can focus their resources more specifically on their core competencies, thereby helping them gain competitive advantages in the market. ___________________________________________

Concept of BPO and KPO

Business Process Outsourcing (BPO ) :-

BPO involves contacting external agencies for performing specific business functions .

Services like call centre jobs meant for customers , contact and payroll preparation , accounting services , courier services , advertising services , customer related services , etc. are some BPO jobs .

BPO job is often divided into two categories

• Bank office outsourcing which includes internal business functions such as billing , purchasing etc.

• Front office Outsourcing which includes customer related services such as marketing , technical support etc.

five BPO exporters according to NASSCOM are Genpact , TCS , WNS Global Services , Wipro and Aegis LTD.

Broadly there are a few different types of BPO  based on the distance between the two members of the relationship. These types are:

On – shoring :- . Relocating work or services to lower-cost locations in the company’s own country.

Off-shoring:- Relocating work or services to third-party providers overseas.

Near-shoring:- . Relocating work or services to people in nearby, often bordering regions and countries

BPO helps the company to focus on its core competencies without being burdened with routine activities. It helps in increasing the speed of various business processes  and allows business enterprises to retain their entrepreneurial speed and agility .

Knowledge Process Outsourcing ( KPO ) :-

KPO stands for knowledge process outsourcing. Outsourcing of knowledge results in the emergence of a new business activity known as KPO .

Knowledge process is a high value added process that depends on the skills , knowledge and experience of the people carrying out various activities .

KPO calls for application of highly specialised knowledge .

India still maintains the competitive advantage for providing the most cost – effective and high quantity manpower . KPO derives its strength from the depth of knowledge , experience and judgement factor.

The scope of KPO is vast and it covers information technology (IT) enabled services ,legal processes , intellectual property patent related services , engineering services , web development application , CAD / CAM applications , business research analytics ,legal research , clinical research , publishing market research, etc .

Advantages of Outsourcing :-

• Getting good quality services :-  A business enterprise cannot be expected to have specialization in all activities . As a result , the need for outsourcing services is generally necessary.  Expert advice from outside agencies facilitates success of the business.

• Concentrating on core activities :-  Outsourcing ensures overall better performance of the business enterprise as it can concentrate on core activities of its strength and competence . This has a positive effect on the quantity of service.

• Avoiding Labour Trouble :- Outsourcing reduces the employee related problems as the agencies include their own staff which are not included as enterprise staff .

• Cost effective Services :- Sometimes , it is economical to outsource some services instead of maintaining a separate department for it which may cost more than expected budget and leads to increase in cost production.

• Avoiding Fixed Investment :- Instead of investing for a separate department a business enterprise gets service from outsourcing . This results in investment savings which can be used for profiting business .

Hence , outsourcing has been viewed as a way to lower costs and gain efficiencies, it is increasingly becoming a strategic tool for companies.

___________________________________________

Disadvantages of Outsourcing .

There are certain Disadvantages that come along with outsourcing .

Disadvantages such as  ,

• Outsourcing Supplier No Longer Able To Supply the service to the Business enterprise which can cause emergency problems .

•. Confidentiality Risk that a business enterprise takes when it selects the option of Outsourcing .

•  By giving away a function of business to an outsource the  enterprise gains the advantage of having an expert for the service but  loses control over that particular function .

• The service may Be more costly than actually expected causing an increase in cost of production.

• Maintaining and securing a trusted relationship is essential in outsourcing efforts and is more complex than establishing service levels and relationships.

Despite disadvantages , outsourcing is opted by my many business enterprises .

The  disadvantages or problems could be avoided by having a trusteeship outsourcing contract and by  examining service level agreements, timeframes ,  rewards, and regular review strategies .

MENACE OF TROLLING

The internet has engendered a completely new outlook to the world. On one hand its a hub to world wide connections whereas on the other hand its has given people a new meaning to freedom of expression, which is not always used in a positive way.

Article 19 of the Indian constitution gives people the freedom to hold opinions until to a point it doesn’t hurt one’s self esteem and name. But unfortunately nowadays trolling and cyber bullying has become a part of our day to day lives.

According to a study published by the University of Manitoba, in Canada, found that trolls exhibit the personality traits of an individual like narcissists, psychopaths and sadists who take pleasure in the suffering of other people. In the latest yearly Freedom of the Net report, Freedom House studied 65 countries worldwide between June 2016 and May 2017, found that internet freedom has declined for the seventh consecutive year. China was the world’s most aggressive abuser of internet freedom for the third consecutive year, followed by Syria. Another study explored “personality traits and social motivations associated with individuals who engage in online trolling, specifically on Facebook.”

REASONS:

There are many reasons why trolling happens and one is different from other. People’s lack of will to appreciate the difference in opinions leads to trolling. Another such reason is impatience in people. It can also occur due to insecurity budding within themselves. Some people troll even for seeking attention, for boredom and what not.

CONSEQUENCES:

Victims of trolling can undergo a sort of mental trauma and can really feel unsafe. Some can even take extreme decision like suicide. It on a majority affects teenagers. Depression and anxiety increases.

COMBAT TROLLING:

One cannot win with a troll but the best way to combat it is: If it is casual online troll, the best one can do is to ignore it completely as we all know “ignorance is bliss“. For repeated troll, report the user to the moderators of the system. If a mass of people report then the moderators have to take away the trolls ability to post online which commonly means that the troll is no more or blocked by IP address.

On conclusion, all that can be said is one need to take control of their behavior and treat everyone as they like to be treated.

ELASTICITY, PLASTICITY AND STRESS

ELASTIC AND PLASTIC BEHAVIOUR OF SOLIDS :-

By a rigid body, we generally mean a hard solid object having a definite shape and size. As we know that solid bodies are not perfectly rigid. They can be moulded or given any shape. A body may get deformed, if an external force is applied on it. When the deforming force is removed, some bodies tend to regain their original size and shape while others do not show any such tendancy.

Deforming Force :-

If a force is applied on a body which is neither free to move nor free to rotate, the molecules of the body experience a force that tends to change their relative positions. As a result, the body may undergo a change in length, volume or shape. The force responsible for it is known as a deforming force.

DEFORMING FORCE

Elasticity :-

Elasticity is defined as if a body regains its original shape and size after the deforming force is applied on it. The objects and materials that follow this property are known as elastic bodies. We can call it a temporary change.

Perfectly Elastic Body :-

This is defined as the nature of an object to regain its original shape and size immediately and completely after the deforming force applied on it is removed. The objects and materials that follow this property are considered as perfectly elastic bodies. Example is rubber band, quartz filter, etc.

Plasticity :-

Plasticity is defined as a nature of an object or material in which it does not able to regain its original shape and size even after the deforming force applied on it is removed completely. We can call it a permanent change.

Perfectly Plastic Body :-

This is defined as the nature of an object or material in which it completely regains its original size and shape after the deforming force applied on it is completely removed. Example is mud.

STRESS :-

When a body tries to regain its original shape and size after the removal of deforming force applied on it, then an internal force is generated within the body. This internal force responsible for helping the object to gain its original shape and size is nothing but stress. Stress is the internal force of an object acting per unit area. Its SI unit is Nm2 and CGS unit is dyne cm-2 .
Types of Stress :-

  • Tensile Stress – If after applying stress on a body such that the length of the body increases in the direction of the deforming force then it is considered as tensile stress. It’s other name is longitudinal stress.
  • Compressional Stress – If the length of the body decreases in the direction in which the stress is applied, then it is known as Compressional stress.
  • Hydrostatic Stress – If force is applied on the body in a uniform manner, then this type of stress is commonly known as hydrostatic stress.
  • Tangential or Shearing Stress – In this case, the force is applied on the body in a tangential manner such that it leads to change in the shape of the body. This stress is known as tangential or shearing stress.

HELEN ADAMS KELLER

Helen Adams Keller (June 27, 1880 – June 1, 1968) was an American author, disability rights advocate, political activist and lecturer. Born in West Tuscumbia, Alabama, she lost her sight and hearing after a bout of illness at the age of nineteen months. She then communicated primarily using home signs until the age of seven when she met her first teacher and life-long companion Anne Sullivan, who taught her language, including reading and writing; Sullivan’s first lessons involved spelling words on Keller’s hand to show her the names of objects around her. She also learned how to speak and to understand other people’s speech using the Tadoma method. After an education at both specialist and mainstream schools, she attended Radcliffe College of Harvard University and became the first deafblind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. She worked for the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) from 1924 until 1968, during which time she toured the United States and traveled to 35 countries around the globe advocating for those with vision loss.

Keller was a prolific author, writing 14 books and hundreds of speeches and essays on topics ranging from animals to Mahatma Gandhi. Keller campaigned for those with disabilities, for women’s suffrage, labor rights, and world peace. She joined the Socialist Party of America in 1909. She was a supporter of the NAACP and an original member of the American Civil Liberties Union. In 1933, when her book How I Became a Socialist was burned by Nazi youth, she wrote an open letter to the Student Body of Germany condemning censorship and prejudice.

The story of Keller and Sullivan was made famous by Keller’s 1903 autobiography, The Story of My Life, and its adaptations for film and stage, The Miracle Worker. Her birthplace is now a museum and sponsors an annual “Helen Keller Day”. Her June 27 birthday is commemorated as Helen Keller Day in Pennsylvania and, in the centenary year of her birth, was recognized by a presidential proclamation from U.S. President Jimmy Carter.

She was inducted into the Alabama Women’s Hall of Fame in 1971 and was one of twelve inaugural inductees to the Alabama Writers Hall of Fame on June 8, 2015.

KELLER’S ILLNESS

At 19 months old, Keller contracted an unknown illness described by doctors as “an acute congestion of the stomach and the brain”, which might have been meningitis caused by the bacterium Neisseria meningitidis (meningococcus), or possibly Haemophilus influenzae (which could cause the same symptoms, but which is a less likely cause due to its 97% juvenile mortality rate at that time). Other possible infections were rubella (which generally only causes blindness or deafness in prenatal infections) or scarlet fever (which did not commonly cause blindness or deafness). The illness left her both deaf and blind. She lived, as she recalled in her autobiography, “at sea in a dense fog”. Helen Keller developed a febrile illness that left her both deaf and blind. Historical biographies attribute the illness to rubella, scarlet fever, encephalitis, or meningitis. This analysis of her illness suggests she likely had bacterial meningitis, caused by Neisseria meningitidis or possibly Haemophilus influenzae.

At that time, Keller was able to communicate somewhat with Martha Washington, the two-years-older daughter of the family cook, who understood her signs; by the age of seven, Keller had more than 60 home signs to communicate with her family, and could distinguish people by the vibration of their footsteps.

In 1886, Keller’s mother, inspired by an account in Charles Dickens’ American Notes of the successful education of another deaf and blind woman, Laura Bridgman, dispatched the young Keller, accompanied by her father, to seek out physician J. Julian Chisolm, an eye, ear, nose, and throat specialist in Baltimore, for advice.

How urbanisation affects life

Firstly we need to understand what is urbanisation. Urbanisation is a process in which people migrate from rural areas to urban areas in search of job opportunity or to fulfill their needs directly or indirectly.

In last 20 years there has been a large amount of urbanization. People have migrated from rural areas to urban areas in a large number.

Does penal of problem due to this organisation some of them are discussed below

Problems or disadvantages of urbanization

There are a lot of problems of urbanization ,some of them are as follows

The first disadvantage of urbanisation is that it increased population of urban areas . People from rural areas migrated in urban areas and the people who are already residing in urban areas has been changed or removed from their places so this made an increase in the population of urban areas because more and more people are now moving from their place.

Second disadvantage is that due to increase in population in urban areas people are getting more and more poor in urban areas. Why? Because there are a fixed number of jobs in urban areas and if, only population will increase and there will be very less increment in job opportunities it will ultimately lead to poverty. Some People do not get jobs in urban areas and since they have moved into cities they have to reside there and for that they work for even lesser stipend.

The third disadvantage is that people get demotivated. This is because they have dreamt about a beautiful world urban cities or urban areas but they even didn’t get a satisfying job which make them unhappy and dissatisfied.

There are many more disadvantages of urbanization. Let’s end it here. We will talk about some positives of urbanization because I don’t want to just tell you you that urbanization is bad in all ways. Let’s see some positive sides of urbanization

Advantages of urbanization

As we have already seen that there are a lot of disadvantages of urbanization but now let’s move and talk about some advantages and it’s not like there are only disadvantages there are a lot and lots of advantages of urbanization .

The first advantage of urbanization is is that it makes people educated. As we All know that education is one of our basic rights and we must get this right. The main reason for urbanization is basically to the first is that people move to urban areas in search of jobs and the second is that people move to urban area to get educated. So, Urbanisation leads to the way of education.

The second is that people get to work in urban areas which makes them fulfill their needs and wants. Some people get very good jobs which make them happy and motivated.

Urbanization helps in education of not only the individual who has migrated it also helps in the education of his or her whole village people. When a person moved from rural to urban area he learns a lot of think and he gets educated he knows his rights he get educated about his fundamental rights HE getS educated about many things which rural people don’t know about, this makes not only him educated but when he went again to his village HE WIL SHARE all these beautiful knowledge to his own whole village and not only his village but the neighbours of his village which makeS A big amount of people educated.

In this we can see that there are many advantages and disadvantages of urbanisation question is that what should we choose should we go with urbanization or should we stop it?

According to me you should stop urbanization no no I am not saying that we should stop urbanization in a negative way I am saying that why not make a rural or urban area why not we convert a rural area into an urban area that’s great right I know that is so we should make convert rural areas into beautiful urban areas this will make the rural people also feel amazing and I will learn they will be educated about a lot of things because in urban cities why we might read a lot of things so this will make them feel educated at this will make them feel cut and this will also lead to the country’s development then why we are not nrusinha should now so if there will be anything like where you can help and advise people on this topic kindly kindly kindly give them advice and tell them not to migrate but to make their own village or city is special allowance same for government

Thank you so much.
