Pedalling Population

“All great changes are preceded by chaos”

The pandemic situation has brought substantial changes in our day-to-day life. The changes include both sides of a coin – the raise and the fall. Let us have a  look at the optimistic changes. One noteworthy change is the switch from bikes to bicycles.  It is indeed a much-needed change for both the users and the environment. The usage of bicycles has significantly increased in the past year. The primary reasons for the growth in numbers are as follows:

  • The shutdown of gyms, recreational centers, indoor sports clubs over a prolonged period of time.
  • Stress due to the work-from-home scenario.
  • Increased fuel prices.
  • Aggravated air pollution.
  • Cycle rental services in metro and urban cities.
  • Increase in brands producing good quality cycles.
Cycling Pals in India

Constructive Competition:

People find cycling as a gateway to their emotions and thus rejuvenate their souls after a tiresome day.

Apps like Strava, Fitbit help users track their daily rides and share them on social media. This develops constructive competition. Whenever like-minded people compete the outcome is remarkable. Hence cycling became a regular habit among groups of friends, neighbors across various parts of the country. Cycling events are getting more attraction in recent times. Recently in Telangana, a national event was organized after 10 years where 600 cyclists from various parts of the country participated in cycling. Constructive Competition has not only buzzed up the consumers but also the producers of bicycles.

Market Analysis:

According to a report by Hindu, the cycling market had negative growth of about 8% in the year 2018. It was expected to turn out worse in the following years. On contrary, the market had an aggressive growth. Omkar Singh, Chairman of Cycle Federation of India is overwhelmed by the rise in sales of cycles in India. He said that the cycle market has gained a raise of about 300-400% in the lockdown period. India is one of the leading producers and consumers of cycles in the world while China holds the leading position.

Startups like E- Motorads , Nahak Motors, Go Zero Mobility have an unbelievable outreach in the Indian Market. They are reported to have sales of more than 1000 cycles within two months of their launches. This is quite huge for a startup emerging in India. The primary reasons for the success is the quality and exquisite features offered by them.

Hero and Ti cycles hold the largest share of the pie in the Indian cycle market. KK Paul, president of TI cycles shares an interesting fact that the demand for premium cycles with a price of about 30,000 INR has increased eventually. The only question which remains a mystery is with the numbers in the future. Companies are perplexed by the sudden rise in the sales of cycles and are unable to predict the mindsets of consumers in the upcoming years,

A change that was brought without anyone’s expectations has given considerable changes to both the consumers and producers. Let us hope for the best to happen in the forthcoming years.

Jagganath Rath Yatra 2021

India is land of culture and tradition; its diversity is the main reason behind such a vast number of festivals, celebrations, rituals and ceremony that we Indians celebrate every year. This forms our culture, which is rich and beautiful. One such instance of our culture that showcase the devotion, unity and purity is Jagannath Rath Yatra, Orissa.
The preparation for Jagannath Puri rath yatra which is held every year during the month of June and July has begin from today. The yatra is held in Puri, located in Orissa in the Jagannath temple. The Jagannath temple is a holy shrine for the devotees constructed by king Chodagan Dev in 12th century. It is no less than a festival for the people of Orissa and lasts for many days.
The word “Jagannath” which stands for lord of universe and rath yatra which refers to chariot journey. The popular yatra is basically about three deities lord Jagannath Bal Bhadra (brother of lord Jagannath) and sister Subhadra who travel from Jagannath temple to Gundicha shrine and they return back to Jagannath, the distance is approximately 3km and the whole celebration lasts for eight to nine days. Three big chariot which are made out of neem wood and other material, these are very tall and have long stretch canopies on the top made out of cloth and thousands of devotees pull these three chariots or rath and it takes 2 to 3 months to make these huge rath who can carry the idol of all three. Every year new rath are designed and the rituals start many days before the rath yatra.
Pulling these rath is considered a good deed and every year there are visitors from around the country to be a part of this extra ordinary rath yatra. It is a 460-year-old tradition, it has immense importance but, from the past two years the Yatra is held in the presence of limited number of people that too the main ones.
Well, this is only one out of many in India most of the time in a year people are celebrating their traditions, rituals and identity. The best part about this is getting to learn about the ancient practices and the importance they carry like why this is done, what is the speciality, where does all this takes place etc. All these things keep us connected to our land and people. Hence, of greater importance specially when you belong to such a diverse nation.

11 People Die Of Hunger Every Minute: Oxfam Report

11 People Die Of Hunger Every Minute

Countries such as Afghanistan, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Syria, Yemen and Lebanon are living in excruciating conditions. 11 people lost their lives each minute due to starvation outpacing the covid fertility rate according to a report of Oxfam.
The report also pointed out that around half a million people are living in famine conditions. In 2021, the fresh numbers of people who have been facing severe food security are 20 million, making a total of 155 million people in 55 countries.
Since the pandemic was declared, trade and market have hit the lowest of the decade. Economic activity slowed down by 3.5 per cent notwithstanding poverty, which increased by 16 per cent according to the report.
Around the world, prices of food have increased by 40 per cent, which is also associated with stuck trades and lockdowns that have disrupted food flaws.
Mulu Gebre, 26, who forcedly fled from her home in Tigray told Oxfam: “I came to Mekele because I heard that food and milk were offered for infants. When I arrived here, I couldn’t find food even for myself. I need food especially for my child, who is only four months old and was born underweight.”
The situation has indeed worsened in the last two years. Lifting people out of their destination should be the primary concern for the countries around the world. Political parties, governments, various economic cooperation groups and the UN have to come together to save human suffering.
Lebanon is the fittest example who is facing political sectarianism. As there is no stable government. Parliament’s 128 seats are divided evenly between Christians and Muslims. Which makes them serve their interests only.

In the end, there is hope that the situation will be great again. It reminds me of this quote of Buzz Aldrin
If we can conquer space, we can conquer childhood hunger.

They find it miserable to overcome the circumstance but often lands at failure. To relax and relieve them from this condition the online platform entertainment plays a vital role in every human’s life. These series have a mind-blowing background of concept that makes viewers to admire their story with a sensational and emotional touch comprised of their story.

These web series are usually hosted under certain applications that are totally but to use their features it needs to be paid as per their plans. Virtual entertainment become worldwide famous but the hosting servers and applications are different in each country but all the web entertainment providers can be used under a single gadget of smartphones. We have some amazing web series that keeps us to hook up to screens and worthy watching them.

I have discussed the opinions that were fair enough for me to give an introduction about these sites if you are newbie. So let me discuss about the top series that are favored by people to entertain them when they are totally collapsed by their work burden or studies pressure.

  1. The Family Man Season 2 (Amazon Prime)

This concept is about a middle-class family that narrates the story of the husband of the family working under a secretive branch of National Forces Agency for Investigation. He risks his life while trying to balance the protection of nation and his own family with the impact of terrorists with his pressurized, low paying job followed by the second part of it where the comeback of an enemy threatens the nation. This is a kind of drama filled with emotions, affection and trust that makes us feel with tears.

  • Special Ops (Amazon Prime)

The Captain of a Special Operation Team is attacked surprise when his team along with him were on their mission to rescue a life-threatening nuclear weapon as they have to escape by tracking the hidden bomb but also proving himself from innocence from a false complaint as undergoing the government rules. This story seems an action-packed one with continuous thrills after every scene making audience seated until the series is completed. A worth series to be seen.

  • Hostages (Amazon Prime)

This is a suspense-thriller where a family has been house-arrested by terrorists as the woman in the family has to operate a surgery of the country power man Prime Minister that has to take place as a failure to save her family but the situation remains still confusing for viewers followed by the murder of the Minister by his own agent and lands up under siege in the hands of police force along with his friends. His challenge is to save his wife as she is at a worse condition, Will he succeed is the main sequence of the drama so stay focused to know the logic behind this if you are to have a completed experience of feel from this series.

  • Criminal Justice (Amazon Prime)

This deals with the deep concept of sexual abuse and the rape containing the aspects of the misbehaved with the wife itself barring exceptions by concealing it to themselves less to the features of law such as police and courts followed by the murder of the husband by his own wife that is hidden by a lawyer where her daughter comes as witness and the question revolves the reason behind the murder of her own husband. This is a series that can be viewed casually but avoid this mostly as it contains spoiler alert scenes which is worse.

  • Delhi Crime (Netflix)

The script that won the hearts of people globally including the International Emmy Awards 2020 that a crime thriller that has its full packed story for second season also that goes through the story of a gangrape murder case that happened in reality also the struggles and challenges behind the capture of those culprits the criminals of the society. This is a best novel and story I have seen before. The screenplay is really eye-catching and attracting to watch till the end. You can experience it watching.

  • Paatal Lok (Amazon Prime)

This journal takes you out to a maze as it confuses you a bit same as the cop, the main character itself struggles to find out the real happening as it is all a fake happening framed by someone else to secure themselves. The innocents are nabbed but the real mystery is hidden very secretly. This can help to ease out your time and relax for few minutes as it doesn’t contain the track and pulls the anxiety of thrill to audience.

  • Made in Heaven (Amazon Prime)

This is a generous sequence of the two persons Tara and Karan working as wedding coordinators in New Delhi under an agency that is the title name “Made in Heaven”.  A normal routine life concept with some facts and humors a bit each. To while away your time this might be helpful.

  • Asur (Netflix and Amazon Prime) 2nd edition

The second edition talks about the battle between the bad side and justice that Asur has promised to balance the scale that is totally a action packed series that shows face to face the confrontation clearly that will create an awareness among the bad and worse things happening.

  • Breathe (Amazon Prime) into the Shadows

This is 12 level episodes filled with the anxiety of thrill that revolves around for the search of a girl missing by their family members. Finally lands to the kidnapper itself covered with a mask after the sequence takes you to the core of each scene that is to be happened next that will be a perfect family entertainer also for a day.

  • Breathe (Amazon Prime)

An, appreciable factor is that the criminal is a south Indian actor as his acting was a lot more than I guessed. It is another entertainer to be watched with the family as you won’t find your time running at ease with this kind of story that explores the living of normal person with unexpected situations combine the deaths of unconnected ones who is an Officer of the Main and investigation Branch that led to the convict after conclusion of the clues. You can try watching it if possible.

  • Inside Edge (Amazon Prime)

This is a different concept so far; I have discussed where it explains the tough and hard impact on the members of a T20 franchise players to play in a league match. This team ‘Inside Edge’ becomes the powerful team consisting of men and women to destroy their obstacles behind the players and match fixers to reach their goal. Can be viewed as it is related to sports directed by the story of Mumbai Mavericks.

  • Code M

This story takes you to the peak of suspense where a officer is murdered by the corresponding militants themselves that is taken to the lawyer of the defense to investigate as it seems like an outdated and closed case.

I have given my experience with these web series but avoided series from other platforms as to ensure that no sexuality shots should be accompanied with those and I can these as genuine compared to others mostly in my opinion. So, it took me a long day enough to choose drama titles.

Does India has low divorce rate because of happy marriages?

Divorce refers to the legal cancellation of marriage declaring that marriage as null and void. Marriage which is said to be a union of two individuals is generally expected to last till the death of the couple but in some cases when the couple feels that they are not compatible with each other or are hindering each other’s growth or any other reason , they decide to legally cancel their marriage . The reasons for divorce are many not just the two reason which are mentioned above raging from domestic violence, to the cases where one partner commits infidelity to cruelty, insanity, desertion etc. It is not good to continue in a relation which is turning toxic as it will affect the mental as well as physical well being of an individual.

India , the second most populated country in the world has less than 1% of divorce rate while Maldives which is 11,031 times less populated in India has the highest divorce rate in the world with 10.67% of divorces happening per 1000 inhabitants. The reason for such a high rate is that being a Muslim country, Maldives prevents any kind of premarital physical relations and as soon as the children turn 18 , they marry . Also the marriages there are not at all a costly affair with $10 being the fee for the judge and 10 relatives being invited to the wedding. The decisions taken in such tender age of 18 are often proves to be wrong , as the partners mature with time they realise that their aims are very different from others. Also, there are no social obligation restricting them in a unhappy marriage.

Why is there such a huge discrepancy between both the countries? Is it because people in India are quite happy with their partners? Or is it because they are married with their choice of life partner? Read the blog completely to know the reasons.

Why does India has such low divorce rate?

The main reason for divorce rate being the lowest in the second most populated country in the world is that people consider divorce to be a taboo. Marriages in India are a big affair with every acquaintance being invited and treated to the best lavish dishes and luxurious gifts that the family can provide which often leads to the expenditure of the entire savings of the family and heft loan amounts. According to a common belief, here marriages are made in Heaven and even if you are suffering terribly you should not break the bond which is said to be pious tying to people in a matrimony for their next seven human lives. This belief is very contrary to what the VEDAS(the oldest religious scriptures in the world which is a theoretical source for all the laws written in the SMRITIS which used to govern the laws in ancient times) say.

Also, there is a social stigma attached to the divorces which questions the character of mainly the woman stating her to be incapable of “fulfilling her husband’s demands”. Women since centuries now, are a piece of toy who despite all her qualification fails to be called a successful woman if she is not married and has not produced the kids. It is a woman who is supposed to adjust, putting even her self respect at stake. This is the reason where a woman even after becoming a victim to domestic violence never dares to file for separation as victim blaming and shaming starts soon after and she eventually accepts domestic violence as a part of her life. A woman is supposed to have no voice of hers as she is considered incapable of taking correct decisions for herself. What an irony it is that staying in a venomous marriage is considered to be good for a woman! This is the reason that the states of Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan and UP where patriarchy still has a strong hold have the lowest divorce rates while the liberal North East has the high rates. It is the state of Mizoram in India that has the highest divorce rate of 6.34%

The time period of divorce also stretches infinitely long sometimes taking years when the divorce is not mutual which drains the involved parties emotionally, mentally and financially due to the amount of alimony involved.

What does the VEDAS say about the marriage and divorce

According to Kirron Krishnan a Vedic spiritual theist, Rigveda (which contains information about religious, social and economic life of the people) or any of the other three Vedas do not contain any mention of the term called divorce. In those times the term was not needed because according to Rigveda , the husband takes the hand of the bride to live with her till their old age playing with their grandchildren respecting her , loving her and supporting her all along. Meanwhile the wife was the queen of her husband’s household who would over the same support , respect and love back. It was a mutual show of respect by both the parties which did not leave any scope for any domestic violence case. Further, unlike in today’s time where a daughter is considered to be a liability who is born just to be married off, in the days when India was a golden bird the women were trained and skilled by her family and was married to the groom of her choice and the same was prevalent with men.

However there is the mention of remarriage if one partner dies , rennounces the world , disappears , is involved in criminal activity or is impotent. The laws in the ancient times were far more suitable for both the genders than they are today.

Is it good to have such a low divorce rate in the country

By stating that the low divorce rates are not good it doesn’t implies that the divorces are good and more people should have it. If the couple in the marriage is happy then there are no issues, but if the couple in the marriage is not happy with each other and is only together “because they have no other way” then it is completely wrong as it will generate negative vibes harming the couple as well as their innocent children . It is seen in more than one cases that the children from unhappy marriages results in being a frustration box to their parents’ outbursts which hampers the growth of the child.

MOUNTAINS v/s BEACHES

Who doesn’t enjoy a good vacation. The question always comes down to is whether to go to the mountains or the beach. This debate has been going on for a long time. Let’s consider both the alternatives and make a decision that suits us the best.

MOUNTAINS

  • The primary reason people choose mountains is to enjoy the peace that comes with it. There are many tourists in hill stations but as you go on a higher altitude, there shall be lesser people and thus more peace and calm.
  • Trekking is one of the best activities during a hill station vacation. It really gets your blood pumping and as you go higher and higher you can practically feel your soul enjoying every moment of it because you know the view on the top would be mesmerizing.
  • Another thing you won’t find in any other place is the clean air. You can smell the fragrance of the pine trees all around and it is proven that the fragrance of pine helps in battling depression, anxiety and hostility.
  • The views from the mountains are always breathtaking. Even while you are driving to reach your destination you can see mountains all around you and that beauty is unmatched.
  • Mountain vacations are best for people who love to take some time off and just disconnect from the world. These areas rarely have cell reception and if that is not the way to disconnect then I don’t know what is.
  • Mountains are a place to just relax and think. If your job demands a lot of creative thinking, in that case you must try the solace a hill station can offer you. It really opens up your mind because there is so much quite and you can feel the creative juices flowing in your mind.
  • A vacation to a mountain is best for a solo trip. If you are planning on going on a solo trip, a hill station must be your first choice.
  • Some of the best hill stations in India are: Dharamshala, Mussoorie, Kufri, Chail, Nanital, Triund, Lahaul-Spiti Valley and the list goes on.

BEACHES

  • First and foremost a beach vacation lets you soak up as much Vitamin-D as you want which is great for your health.
  • Beach vacations are great if you have a large group of friends. Beaches are great to just sit down and have fun conversations with your friends.
  • There are a lot of fun activities to do while on a vacation like, go deep sea diving, play Frisbee or volleyball, build sand castles or maybe have a picnic.
  • The best part of a beach vacation is the sound of waves crashing up on the shore and the purely blissful scenic beauty.
  • People who prefer beaches are always high on energy.
  • If you have ever been on a beach you would have seen how chill people are. Everyone is in their own element. There is absolutely no care in the world.
  • Beaches attract more tourists than mountains so there is the element of diversity.
  • People on a beach vacation never sleep. You can be out as long as you want and would always be people around just walking and talking.
  • Such vacations are cheaper as compared to any other destination.
  • Lastly but not the least you get a great view of the sunset and the sunrise. The night sky is beautiful, full of stars and you can just let it all in.
  • Some of the great destinations for a beach vacation are: Goa (of course), Andaman and Nicobar islands, Pondicherry, Kerala and many more.

Have you decided which one are you? But you know it doesn’t matter if you are a beach person or a mountain person, you must take a vacation once a year just to relax, rest, enjoy and detach yourself from the hustle and bustle of life. Take out some time to travel but keep the ongoing pandemic in mind while finalizing the destination. Safe travels!

AMBITION

The starting point of all achievement is desire.” —Napoleon Hill

One needs to aim for the sky, to achieve as much as a mountain in the bargain Success in life comes only to those who are ready to work hard for the same. The key to success is to have an aim in life and the earlier you attain this aim, the better.

In spite of all the new options in today’s times, there are those age-old professions that are a favourite with most of the youngsters all the time. These include, the profession of a doctor, an engineer and that of a teacher or an advocate. I too, wanted to be part of one of these noble professions. If my memory proves me right, I always wanted to be a teacher. What is exciting about teaching is that this is one of the few professions where you are actually dealing with living beings. To make a difference to a child’s life or to positively influence a child in such a way as to bring about good change, is a great achievement in itself. Somewhere, along the path, we are also the product of the reinforcements made by our parents and teachers, one way or the other.

However, even our Puranas reinstate that the teacher or the guru’ comes above God. The reason being that teacher is the person who shows you the way to God, or teaches you, what God is all about. So, if the enlightenment of God and the things around you comes from one particular force, then that is the person to be revered, first.

The responsibility being immense, it’s not an easy job either. If the young minds have to look forward to you as a source of knowledge, then you need to be one. With the quantum of knowledge increasing day by day, it’s a difficult task to keep abreast of the upcoming information. Apart from all this, what is more important in this profession is whole hearted dedication and willingness to work beyond the restrictions of time and assigned duties.

With all this view in mind, I would like to pursue my ambition to be a teacher. It’s anyhow of least importance to assert which subject I would specialize in because subject is not as important, as to know, how to effectively teach it. Be it Maths. English or Science, to develop a flair and love for the subject is a teacher’ s greatest challenge. A bad teacher can always generate an aversion towards the subject in the minds of the children, just by not giving the subject a proper treatment. My ultimate aim would be to be such a teacher who would make a difference in the lives of young minds and bring about their overall development.

Addiction to Gadgets

Technology and gadgets are now indispensable in our daily lives. In the past few years carrying a miniature computer (a smart phone) in a pocket has become commonplace. Technology helps advance the human race forward and makes doing mundane things more efficient and repeatable. Technology has helped create the information revolution.
With technological advances, devices have evolved to be so powerful and smart that it feels like having a super-computer on one’s hands. Humans now have an insatiable appetite for information at their fingertips. When technology makes this happen, the natural tendency is for this to become an expectation.
Life Without Gadgets:
■People born before the 1980’s would very well relate to life before the information age, when people had no access to internet or personal gadgets.  Let’s briefly walk down the memory lane to relive those moments — a life without gadgets.
■Children played together outdoor — they had a lot of physical activity.
■People talked to each other more often, and verbal communication face-face was at its peak.
■Chat jargon did not exist and people knew their spellings well, as they read more books.
■People enjoyed spending more time outdoors with family and friends.
■It was commonplace to get the news from newspaper or radio.
■Entertainment came from playing board games, playing sports, going to the movies, watching VHS tapes, etc.
■Writers often used either a type-writer or a word processor on their computer.
■Computers were expensive and bulky.
■Doing research was hard; frequent visits to the library or scouring through plethora of papers, books, etc. were necessary.
■Communication was slow.
Life With Gadgets:
Gadgets equipped with internet have transformed our lives in several ways and brought about a paradigm shift in our dependence on technology to perform key tasks in our everyday routine. To highlight a few:
■Enormous amount of information at our fingertips
■Use Google Maps to get directions, watch YouTube videos to learn to cook, sing, draw, learn science, etc.
■Health monitoring apps on the cell phone that would remind people to walk, run, bike, check BP periodically, etc.
■Capability to share daily life or special events instantly with thousands of people and see reaction in a matter of minutes, if not seconds
■Expedited research with access to information galore
■Ability to watch videos on demand from anywhere (Netflix, Amazon, etc.)
■Ability to read e-books online on demand — no more visits to library needed
■Use of mobile phones, tablets as pacifiers for kids
■Improved speed of communication by orders of magnitude leading to faster decision-making
■Existence of mobile apps for entertainment, social interaction through digital media, paying bills, accessing bank accounts, etc.
Effects of Gadget Addiction:
While the business model of the top few app companies hinges on people spending more time with their gadgets every day, we need to recognize that the most important fallout of this induced behavior would be the rising epidemic of gadget addiction. A sense of urge to use the phone or any other gadget when bored or idle equates to addiction. Gadget addiction doesn’t discriminate who is affected, it affects all age groups and people of all races. The effects range from mental, physical, emotional to even threatening our democracy.
Mental and Emotional Health:
Dopamine is a neurochemical that largely controls the pleasure and reward centers of the brain. High levels of dopamine are usually associated with motivation and excitement to fulfil goals that would lead to recognized rewards and thus reinforcement of a sense of pleasure while achieving those goals. Procrastination, lack of enthusiasm and self-confidence, and boredom are linked to low levels of dopamine.
Research has shown that the brain gets “rewired” as excessive amounts of dopamine get released in the body on frequent interaction with a rewarding stimulus, i.e., using a smartphone app like Facebook. Boredom triggers an interaction with the rewarding stimulus (Facebook app), which in turn results in wide variety of rewards in the form of likes, messages, photos, etc. causing high releases of dopamine in the body. Frequent cycles such as these cause the brain’s receptors to become more insensitive to dopamine, causing the body to experience less pleasure than before for the same natural reward. This leads the person down a spiral, where one has increased craving for the same reward to achieve normal levels of pleasure. If the increased craving cannot be satisfied, it would lead to anxiety, lack of motivation and depression. Gadget addiction is likened to addiction to alcohol or drugs since it results in similar negative consequences.
Studieshave shown that children’s cognitive and emotional development can be adversely impacted by internet/gadget addiction. More screen time means more virtual interactions and rewards through social media (shares, likes) and less face time. Less face-to-face interaction with other people results in lack of empathy for fellow human beings.
Physical Health:
Today’s children are immersed in technology right from a very young age. With more than half the schools in the US using smart devices as teaching tools in class, coupled with at-home smart device usage, the total screen exposure time of students in the age group 8-18 has exceeded ten hours a day. There are obvious benefits to being exposed to technology right from a very young age, i.e., development of skills needed to be successful in technology-related areas in a future career. However, on the downside, there could be lack of development of social behavioral skills and high risk of obesity due to limited physical activity.
As one would also expect, one of the biggest health risks of excessive smart device usage is vision-related. The National Eye Institute has found that the frequency of myopia (near-sightedness) has increased exponentially in Americans over the last few decades. The other effect on eyes was reduced blink rate leading to higher incidence of dry eye symptoms.  Based on these findings, the American Academy of Pediatricshas revised recommendations for limiting screen time for kids at different ages.
Listening to loud music through earbuds has detrimental effects on hearing ability  The National Institute of Deafness and Other Communication Disordersreports that about 15% of Americans between the ages of 20-69 have a reduced capability to hear high frequency sounds due to exposure to loud sounds. Other negative effects on physical health from excessive gadget usage include lack of sleep and increased weight on the spine as the head tilt increases to view the screen.
As we see the rise of ill effects of long term gadget use, rising health concerns amidst this drive to seek mindshare, finite attention of the same consumers there are groups of individuals who are now speaking up and taking a stand. These groups are investors, ex-employees of these companies and consumer groups. Starting 2018 these voices have amplified and there is a call for action and change is imminent.

Social Media

Social media is a big tool and has a huge impact on individuals and their lives. While some impacts can be positive, social media has been shown to negatively affect things like our moods and stress levels. Addiction is caused by social media too. With access to it anytime of day on our phones, it’s easy to fall into the bad habit of checking it everywhere – during a meal, in class when a professor is talking, or even in bed when it’s time to sleep!

Genrally what we consume daily is what we become eventually many people get confuse in their life because they are not ableto enjoy their life as they are comparing their luife with life of someone they haver followed virtually,

social media create fake scenarios among young individual, only some percent of people use it wisely other just get depressed by seeing other persons life.

Social media has been a part of our lifestyle since last few years but eventually it is more disturbing now, social media was created to share information’s, to communicate with people, to make friends but now its idea has been changed widely its used for posting pictures, posting about how they buy new car its a whole show off business this can adversely affect young minds i think their should be some age restriction regarding use of social media

AT last I would say, Blaming someone or some users wont help well who are users they are people like us scrolling Instagram or Facebook hours by hours and wasting their time, i think we have power to use it in positive way just wasting time wont help

Think wisely !!

HUMAN EVOLUTION

The story of human origins is complicated since our ancestors swapped genes (and probably skills).

The first humans emerged in Africa around two million years ago, long before the modern humans known as Homo sapiens appeared on the same continent.

There’s a lot anthropologists still don’t know about how different groups of humans interacted and mated with each other over this long stretch of prehistory. Thanks to new archaeological and genealogical research, they’re starting to fill in some of the blanks.

The First Humans

Homo habilis individuals chip away at rocks, sharpening them for cutting up game or scraping hides while a woman, with her child, gathers wild berries to eat and branches to make shelters.

First things first: A “human” is anyone who belongs to the genus Homo (Latin for “man”). Scientists still don’t know exactly when or how the first humans evolved, but they’ve identified a few of the oldest ones.

One of the earliest known humans is Homo habilis, or “handy man,” who lived about 2.4 million to 1.4 million years ago in Eastern and Southern Africa. Others include Homo rudolfensis, who lived in Eastern Africa about 1.9 million to 1.8 million years ago (its name comes from its discovery in East Rudolph, Kenya); and Homo erectus, the “upright man” who ranged from Southern Africa all the way to modern-day China and Indonesia from about 1.89 million to 110,000 years ago.

In addition to these early humans, researchers have found evidence of an unknown “superarchaic” group that separated from other humans in Africa around two million years ago. These superarchaic humans mated with the ancestors of Neanderthals and Denisovans, according to a paper published in Science Advances in February 2020. This marks the earliest known instance of human groups mating with each other—something we know happened a lot more later on.

After the superarchaic humans came the archaic ones: Neanderthals, Denisovans and other human groups that no longer exist.

Archaeologists have known about Neanderthals, or Homo neanderthalensis, since the 19th century, but only discovered Denisovans in 2008 (the group is so new it doesn’t have a scientific name yet). Since then, researchers have discovered Neanderthals and Denisovans not only mated with each other, they also mated with modern humans.

“When the Max Plank Institute [for Evolutionary Anthropology] began getting nuclear DNA sequenced data from Neanderthals, then it became very clear very quickly that modern humans carried some Neanderthal DNA,” says Alan R. Rogers, a professor of anthropology and biology at the University of Utah and lead author of the Science Advances paper. “That was a real turning point… It became widely accepted very quickly after that.”

As a more recently-discovered group, we have far less information on Denisovans than Neanderthals. But archaeologists have found evidence that they lived and mated with Neanderthals in Siberia for around 100,000 years. The most direct evidence of this is the recent discovery of a 13-year-old girl who lived in that cave about 90,000 years ago. DNA analysis revealed that her mother was a Neanderthal and her father was a Denisovan.

The human lineage of Australopithecus afarensis, Homo habilis, Homo erectus, Neanderthals and Homo sapiens.

Scientists are still figuring out when all this inter-group mating took place. Modern humans may have mated with Neanderthals after migrating out of Africa and into Europe and Asia around 70,000 years ago. Apparently, this was no one-night standresearch suggests there were multiple encounters between Neanderthals and modern humans.

Less is known about the Denisovans and their movements, but research suggests modern humans mated with them in Asia and Australia between 50,000 and 15,000 years ago.

Until recently, some researchers assumed people of African descent didn’t have Neanderthal ancestry because their predecessors didn’t leave Africa to meet the Neanderthals in Europe and Asia. But in January 2020, a paper in Cell upended that narrative by reporting that modern populations across Africa also carry a significant amount of Neanderthal DNA. Researchers suggest this could be the result of modern humans migrating back into Africa over the past 20,000 years after mating with Neanderthals in Europe and Asia.

Given these types of discoveries, it may be better to think about human evolution as a “braided stream,” rather than a “classical tree of evolution,” says Andrew C. Sorensen, a postdoctoral researcher in archaeology at Leiden University in the Netherlands. Although the majority of modern humans’ DNA still comes from a group that developed in Africa (Neanderthal and Deniosovan DNA accounts for only a small percentage of our genes), new discoveries about inter-group mating have complicated our view of human evolution.

“It seems like the more DNA evidence that we get—every question that gets answered, five more pop up,” he says. “So it’s a bit of an evolutionary wack-a-mole.”

Early Human Ancestors Shared Skills

Human groups that encountered each other probably swapped more than just genes, too. Neanderthals living in modern-day France roughly 50,000 years ago knew how to start a fire, according to a 2018 Nature paper on which Sorensen was the lead author. Fire-starting is a key skill that different human groups could have passed along to each other—possibly even one that Neanderthals taught to some modern humans.

“These early human groups, they really got around,” Sorensen says. “These people just move around so much that it’s very difficult to tease out these relationships.”

Book – kafka On The Shore.

The whole story revolves around two completely different characters, Kafka Tamura and Nakata Sataru and therefore the characters they found in their journey.

Kafka on the Shore demonstrates Murakami’s typical blend of popular culture, mundane detail, magical realism, suspense, humor, an involved plot, and potent sexuality. It also features an increased emphasis on Japanese religious traditions.

Kafka Tamura a 15 year old runaway bearing a forbidden curse given by his late father and painful memories. Kafka’s character is unlike the other fifteen year old kid features a strange touch of complexity and it certainly is deep growing over time. The second character Nakata Sataru an old man who doesn’t have any clue about his past checking out coming future. Nakata, a dumb yet smart his character itself is sort of a paradox, which may only be dumb if he’s smart and only be smart if he’s dumb. Which is totally different from kafka who bears an easy perspective about things. Nakata’s ability to look at things during a strangely simple perspective is what makes the characters strong and firm as a ancient fence .

Both characters goal and life is totally different yet at an equivalent time similar at certain point of your time . It’s like 2 different ends of same thread. One looking back at his past while deed from it while another being careless of his past heading for completing a search which is to shut the doorway of the alternate reality. One is overly smart and hooked in to books along side other things while another doesn’t even knows the characters in his name.

In the book both characters encounter some potential person’s which makes the story interesting.the first person was a boy named crow which is nothing quite a illusion made by kafka in his mind. The person he meet on the bus while he was deed from his home. Later when he visited a personal library in takamatsu he found another person Oshima, a transgender character who supported Kafka throughout the book may be a nicely forged character. his perspective on LGBT community is sort of impressive and he check out things metaphorically which is totally at another level. it is a character which is somewhat neutral at it’s own axis. Then comes Mrs. Saeki. To be honest you’ll fell for her head over heels for her. She’s the central a part of the story. she’s the manager of the private library where oshima works and kafka live throughout most of the novel. Her character is that of a broken but charming woman. She was the one who opened the doorway to the alternate reality so as to guard herself from harsh reality but it seems that it just made her trapped in her own damned reality. The more you study her the more you crave for her past.

Mr. Hoshino is another character who helps nakata in completing his quest. it isn’t like they need been friends from over an extended time but they both meet one another when nakata decides to travel into his quest. Later Mr. Hoshino find nakata a stimulating person and a small resemblance to his grandfather. Which is why he decides to assist out the old man in his quest and he seems to a crucial key during this whole book.
The whole story swings back and forth between the particular reality and therefore the alternate reality where time is simply a mere concept and memories are just a bunch of obsolete things.
in this book Murakami’s

literary genre is simply like taking note of a musical sonata, where the sounds of musical instruments bind together at some extent and every one of sudden it alter, break apart into one peak and therefore the process itself goes on and on. The very scale of rising and down with each passing moment never cease to amaze you. In here rather than musical instruments the complex yet simplicity of every and each character is what makes the entire composition exotically attractive.

GPO is also home to all of the main buildings and hotels.

Jot

On the Pathankot-Nurpur-Chowari-Chamba section, Jot is one of the highest altitude tourist spots in Chamba. It is closed to cars during the winter months since it is covered with heavy snow.
