Virat Kohli to quit as India’s T20 captain after the T20 world cup

Virat Kohli on Thursday announced he will step down as India’s T20 captain after the T20 World Cup in UAE but will continue to lead the side in ODIs and Test cricket.For some time, there has been speculation about Kohli’s future as white-ball captain especially in the backdrop of Rohit Sharma’s brilliant track record of winning five IPL titles for Mumbai Indians.

“I’ve decided to step down as the T20 captain after this T20 World Cup in Dubai in October,” Kohli said in a statement posted on his Twitter page. He further added “Understanding workload is a very important thing and considering my immense workload over the last 8-9 years playing all three formats and captaining regularly for last five to six years, I feel I need to give myself space to be fully ready to lead Indian team in Test and ODI cricket. I have given my everything to the Team during my time as T20 captain and I will continue to do so for the T20 team as a batsman moving forward.

Perhaps, for the first time in his captaincy career, Virat Kohli is feeling the heat. He is astute enough to see the writing on the wall where the backing for the captain by the powerful BCCI officials have diminished considerably in the last couple of months.since Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI retirement and Dhoni’s Test captaincy retirement were announced by the board’s press release) and explained the reasons behind quitting T20I captaincy. Is this workload behind the real reason for stepping down from T20I captaincy? Really? In the last decade, Kohli has played just 90 T20Is which is roughly 9 matches per year in the shortest format of the game. Definitely, not a huge workload if you consider that he plays around 15 matches of IPL every season inside two months, which, goes without saying the toughest on the body for any cricketer and all the more taxing for a captain. So, if someone who wants to keep himself fresh and fit, shouldn’t he be willing to give up his franchise’s captaincy (that he has not been able to lift a trophy in eight years for Royal Challengers Bangalore is a different story altogether) and sustain his India captaincy career in that format?

A very unselfish decision, says Michael Vaughan

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has backed Virat Kohli’s decision to give up India’s T20 captaincy after the World Cup, saying that this will release some pressure off the superstar cricketer’s shoulders.

“Well Done… that’s a very unselfish decision and also one which will give you some nice space to hopefully relax a little away from all the pressures,” Vaughan replied on Kohli’s Instagram post.Kohli has a 27-14 win-loss ratio as India’s Twenty20 captain, while his Royal Challengers Bangalore team continue to chase their maiden IPL title.

Virat Kohli has yet to win a ICC trophy under his captaincy but the team’s series win under him in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, England and West Indies will remain the highlights of his leadership tenure starting 2017.As of now, opener Rohit Sharma remains the frontrunner to replace Kohli as the captain of India in the shortest format. While the Indian cricket board is not in any hurry to name a successor now, Rohit, IPL’s most successful captain with 5 titles, is likely to be elevated as India’s Twenty20 skipper.

India’s Historic win at Lords , defeated England by 151 runs.

A spirited performance from the Indian seamers heped the visitors beat England by 151 runs in the second Test and take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series on Monday. Chasing 272, England were bowled out for 120 in 51.5 overs with skipper Joe Root top-scoring with 33.

With about a half-hour left of a fractious day featuring regular verbal clashes between players, Mohammed Siraj bowled Jimmy Anderson and celebrated by removing the off stump he had just clattered and wheeling around the outfield in delight at the home of cricket. Mohammed Siraj registered the figures of 4/32 while Jasprit Bumrah scalped three wickets as India won for just the third time in their 19 Tests at Lord’s. With this win, the visitors have taken a 1-0 lead in this five-match series, after a rain-marred draw at Trent Bridge. The third Test at Headingley in Leeds starts on August 25.

Kohli is yet to score a century since late 2019 and despite getting the start the Indian skipper has failed to play a big knock. The frustration of throwing away the start was made clear by the Team India skipper after returning to the dressing room. The last 10 innings of Virat Kohli in Test has not been great with the Indian skipper only managing to score 280 runs at a below-par average of 28. Kohli’s last century had come during India’s maiden pink-ball Test at home against Bangladesh in November 2019. The numbers of Virat Kohli’s in recent Tests have been not great. The Team India skipper has only managed to scores 20, 42, 0, 13, 44, 0, 27, 62, 0. In addition, to the mentioned scores he has now gone seven consecutive innings without a fifty in the longest format of the game.

Apart from failing to score big runs, Kohli was involved in an on-field heated argument with England pacer during Inia’s innings. The Kohli Anderson fight took place in the 17th over when Virat Kohli was at the non-strikers’ end. Virat Kohli not happy with James Anderson running on the pitch said something to Anderson which the stump mic caught.   1. 3 Number of Test wins for India at Lord’s. Their previous two triumphs at this venue came 28 years apart – by five wickets in 1986 under Kapil Dev and by 95 runs in 2014 under MS Dhoni.
  2. 8 for 126 Mohammed Siraj’s bowling figures in this Test, the best match figures for an Indian bowler in at Lord’s. The previous best was 8 for 168 by Kapil Dev in 1982.
  3. 19 Wickets by Indian pacers in this Test match. Only twice did the Indian pacers claim more – all 20 against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2018 and against England in the previous Test at Trent Bridge
  4. The 180* was also the first of Root’s 22 Test centuries to end in a defeat. The record for the most Test centuries without one in a losing cause is held by Graeme Smith, with 27 tons. Wally Hammond, Geoff Boycott and Ian Bell share the second spot with 22 each.
  5. 7 Ducks by England batters in this Test, the joint-most by them in a Test. The Lord’s Test was the fifth instance where they recorded seven ducks, and the first since the Johannesburg Test against South Africa in 1999..

After dismissing Rishabh Pant early on the final day of the second Test at Lord’s, the English wanted to have a go at the Indian tailenders Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. Mark Wood was the first one to have a real go, as he bowled a short-pitched delivery that hit Bumrah’s helmet. And, that’s how the altercation started. Apart from bowling a barrage of bouncers, the England cricketers began to sledge the Indian tailenders, Bumrah and Shami, in an effort to distract them. Jos Buttler was also one of the cricketers who exchanged words with Bumrah. But that didn’t affect the Indian pace duo, as they went on to forge a match changing 89-run stand for the ninth wicket and helped India set a 272-run target for the hosts.

When the England batsmen came out for the chase, Shami and Bumrah rocked the top-order, before Ishant Sharma (2/13) and Mohammed Siraj (4/32) dismantled the hosts’ to help India wrap up an unforgettable 151 run win to give India a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.As it was later confirmed by Virat Kohli, the fast bowlers were all extra charged up because of the way England went after Shami and Bumrah while they were batting. KL Rahul, the Man of the Match of the Lord’s Test, said after the match – “If you go after one of our guys that means you are going after the whole team”.

Former England spinner Monty Panesar feels the plans to target the Indian tailenders in that way would have been hatched by the England team management, but Joe Root’s men didn’t think that Virat Kohli remembers everything and wants to give it right back.

Indian Women cricketer Harleen Deol pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss Amy Jones in the first T20 against on Friday (9th July 2021), that acrobatic effort from Harleen Deol won the hearts of fans and Cricket lover all over the globe.

Harleen was fielding at long off and Amy Jones tried to clear the fences off Shikha Pandey’s delivery, everyone thought that the ball would sail over the fence for maximum but Harleen Deol timed her jump in the air to perfection and managed it to keep it inside the boundary and drived back to hold onto it.

Every single person watching that catch knows that she had broken the barrier between men’s and women’s cricket . Though India women’s lost the match to England women’s, but everyone appreciated that effort of Harleen, even England cricket team appreciate that efforts in their twitter.

World Test Championship 2021-2023

The longest form of cricket i.e., Test cricket was started in 1877. The first test match was played
between England and Australia in Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Australia. Australian team emerged as the winner of the first test. This was a timeless test match it means that no specific number of days is fixed for playing and play will not stop until there is any result. The five days test cricket that we are familiar with was first played in 1985. From 1877 to 2021 we do not have a champion team in test cricket. It was in 2019 when ICC decided to conduct a World Test Championship to decide the first test champion among the test playing nations. It was in 2021 that the first Test Championship final was played between New Zealand team and the Indian side and New Zealand become the first Test Champions by defeating India.

Now it the time to start the next edition of WTC and ICC has announced the schedule of next WTC which will happen from 2021 to 2023. This edition of the WTC will start with the starting of the test series of England VS India in England in August. Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies. Each team will play only six series. Out of the six series three will be home series and three will be away series for each team. Afghanistan, Ireland, Zimbabwe are teams that are full test playing members of the ICC but will
not take part in WTC 2021-2023. The total number of matches each team will play is given below.

This year point system is different from the first edition. This time each match will be worth of 12 points. A win would be of worth 12 points, a tie and draw would be of 6 and 4 points respectively and lose would be no points. Point will be deducted from the overall point as penalty if the over rate is behind the required over rate after every match. One point will get deducted for each over it was behind. The top two teams of the points table will qualify for the final schedule to be played in 2023 and dates are to be announced.

Introduction

One of the greatest problems that the world is facing today is that of environmental pollution, which is causing grave and irreparable damage to the natural world and human society with about 40% of deaths worldwide being caused by water, air and soil pollution and coupled with human overpopulation has contributed to the malnutrition of 3.7 billion people worldwide, making them more susceptible to disease.

Environmental pollution is defined as “the contamination of the physical and biological components of the earth/atmosphere system to such an extent that normal environmental processes are adversely affected.”

We all are well known about the word Environmental pollution . It is not some kind of new phenomenon , yet it is a greatest problem facing by our society . Still , people are avoiding the topic to its utmost.

Environmental pollution is one of the most serious global challenges. Wild-type organisms have a slower degradation rate of hazardous materials.

Both developed and developing nations share this burden together, though awareness and stricter laws in developed countries have contributed to a larger extent in protecting their environment.

1. Effects on Humans. The effects of environmental pollution on humans are mainly physical, but can also turn into neuro-affections in the long term. The best-known troubles to us are respiratory, in the form of allergies, asthma, irritation of the eyes and nasal passages, or other forms of respiratory infections. Other rarer diseases include hepatitis, typhoid affections, diarrhea, and hormonal disruptions.

2. Effects on Animals . Environmental pollution mainly affects animals by causing harm to their living environment, making it toxic for them to live in.

3. Effects on plants . As for animals, plants, and especially trees, can be destroyed by acid rains (and this will also have a negative impact on animals as well, as their natural environment will be modified), ozone in the lower atmosphere block the plant respiration, and harmful pollutants can be absorbed from the water or soil.

Is the defeat in wtc acceptable? Questions arises over virat’s captaincy.

The final of the WTC(2019-2021) was played from 18 to 23 June 2021 at the Rose Bowl Southampton, England, between India and New Zealand. It was initially scheduled for five days, but time lost during the game to rain interruptions so there was a sixth day reserved for outcome of results. And as expected  the planned reserve day was used .New Zealand won the match by eight wickets to be crowned as the winners of the ICC World Test Championship

After the defeat of the Indian team, the captain comes first on target . The news about the outraged  Indian fans , annoyed cricket expert and WhatsApp memes start circulating over the internet. The netizens and twitterati starts demanding that the captain should leave the capticancy. But the question arises that is it right time to take back his captaincy? Or if he is removed from the captaincy then do we have any good option for his replacement? But before making any conclusions , let’s have a look over virat’s captaincy record.

Virat has captained 61 test with a winning percentage of 59.01% , which includes 36 wins ,15 losses and 10draws . He is having second best winning percentage as a captain among all current playing captains. When talked about oneday cricked , virat has a win percentage of about 70% , which includes 65 wins. His win percentage in T20 cricket is 65.1% which includes 27 wins. It’s just unfortunate that virat has lost couple of icc trophies even with sach a fantastic record in mordern day cricket .

“The decision of making and removing someone from captaincy cannot be taken emotionally. If someone asks to remove virat from captaincy then can we remove him on the basis of single match? When talked about the record, virat has won 36 matches . I personally feel that just because of loosing single match we should not overreact. There was our mistakes, batting mistake , team management mistake . If we actually talk about the captaincy debate then it is quite clear that it will happen in T20 cricket. But even it’s not right time to discuss over T20 cricket now because world cup commencing and if we continue these debate then cricket would be harmed the most. I feel that virat is captain and the world cup plan is designed with him . If the india looses the World cup then it’s sure that Rohit would be made captain of T20 format.” Said the cricketing expert Vikrant Gupta.

“Do we have any alternative for captaincy? Is there any better option for virat’s replacement? Is there anyone who can score runs consistently and can do captiancy like him in a pressure situation. I don’t think that it’s right time to remove him from his captiancy.” Said the indian sport journalist vijay Lokapally.

ICC WORLD T20 2021

The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will be held in the UAE and Oman due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation in India. The BCCI will be the hosts of the event. The tournament will now be held in Dubai International Stadium, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground. The tournament is planned to happen from October 17 to November 14, 2021.

The first round of the tournament, comprising the eight qualifying teams, will now be split between Oman and UAE. Four of these teams will then progress to the Super 12s round where they’ll join the eight automatic qualifiers who are in top 8 positions in World T20 rankings. The 8 teams that are playing in round 1 to get into the Super 12 are the former champions SriLanka, Bangladesh, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Oman, Papua New Guinea and Namibia. 4 teams out of the 8 will be qualified for the World T20 Super 12. 2 teams will join the Pool A and two will join Pool B teams.

First Round

Group A:
SriLanka, Ireland, Papua New Guinea and Oman are in Group A. The team that comes first will enter Pool A of Super 12. Similarly, the team that comes second will enter the Pool B of Super 12.

Group B:
Bangladesh, Netherlands, Scotland and Namibia are in Group B. The team that comes first will enter Pool B of Super 12. Similarly, the team that comes second will enter the Pool A of Super 12.

Second Round

Pool A
Pool A already has 4 teams qualified. They are Australia, New Zealand, West Indies and Pakistan.

Pool B
Pool B already has 4 teams qualified. They are England, India, South Africa and Afghanistan.

After the league stages of the World T20, Qualifiers will be played for Finals. India performs well in every season of the World T20. But the last time India won the trophy was 2007. After that, India qualified for the playoffs almost everytime. But India did’t have the luck of winning trophy. After 2007, Dhoni and Kohli led the team in T20s. Every time India would fail in a single knock out game and would return with empty hands. This time we don’t expect the same. Prior to T20 World Cup, IPL is going to be conducted in UAE. That would be a good preparation not only for Indian players but all around the world. This time, the team does not believe in one or two players to score runs and make the team win. Every slot in the line up has heavy competition. There are 2-3 players fighting for each position. That is a healthy headache for the selection committee as well as the captain. Whoever tried in the respective spot during India’s ordinary tours played well. This time, we hope India would win the cup under Kohli’s captaincy. Happy to share my thoughts. Cricket was introduced to India by British sailors in the 18th century, and the first cricket club was established in 1792. India’s national cricket team did not play its first Test match until 25 June 1932 at Lord’s, becoming the sixth team to be granted test cricket status. From 1932 India had to wait until 1952, almost 20 years for its first Test victory. In its first fifty years of international cricket, India was one of the weaker teams, winning only 35 of the first 196 Test matches it played. The team, however, gained strength in the 1970s with the emergence of players such as batsmen Gavaskar, Viswanath, Kapil Dev, and the Indian spin quartet.

Traditionally much stronger at home than abroad, the Indian team has improved its overseas form, especially in limited-overs cricket, since the start of the 21st century, winning Test matches in Australia, England and South Africa. It is second cricket team to win World Cup after West Indies. It has won the Cricket World Cup twice – in 1983 under the captaincy of Kapil Dev and in 2011 under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. After winning the 2011 World Cup, India became only the third team after West Indies and Australia to have won the World Cup more than once, and the first cricket team to win the World Cup at home. It also won the 2007 ICC World Twenty20 and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. It was also the joint champions of 2002 ICC Champions Trophy, along with Sri Lanka. The team has also won the Asian Cup seven times, making them one of the most successful cricket team in both Asia and the world. They are also one of the only four teams to win all major ICC tournaments. India have also won the ICC Test Championship, ICC ODI Championship, ICC T20I Championship and the World Championship of Cricket in 1985.

The Indian cricket team has rivalries with other Test-playing nations, most notably with Pakistan, the political arch-rival of India. However, in recent times, rivalries with nations like Australia, South Africa and England have also gained prominence.

As we do have our favourite cricketer, we all have different tastes but mine is MS Dhoni (Mahendra Singh Dhoni) he’s the beat no one can’t beat him but as we see our current Indian team so these are the players:
