IMPORTANCE OF MENTAL HEALTH

BY: VAIBHAVI MENON

“The only journey is the journey within.” Being raised in an Indian household, mental health was something that was frowned upon or considered unimportant while academic scores decided how happy you were or would be in life. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act as we cope with life. Mental health, defined by the World Health Organization, is “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community”

Mental illnesses affect 19% of the adult population, 46% of teenagers and 13% of children each year. People struggling with their mental health may be in your family, live next door, teach your children, work in the next cubicle or sit in the same church pew. However, only half of those affected receive treatment, often because of the stigma attached to mental health. Untreated, mental illness can contribute to higher medical expenses, poorer performance at school and work, fewer employment opportunities and increased risk of suicide. Stress can be the cause mental health problems and make existing problems worse. For example, if you often struggle to manage feelings of stress, you might develop a mental health problem like anxiety or depression. Mental health problems can cause stress. You might find coping with the day-to-day symptoms of your mental health problem, as well as potentially needing to manage medication, heath care appointments or treatments, can become extra sources of stress. Stress can impact on how you feel physically. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, also known as Mental Health Month. It has been observed each May in the United States since 1949. It has never been more important than now to recognize that mental health is an essential component to one’s overall health and wellbeing, and that mental illnesses are common and treatable. While it may be that some of us are more vulnerable than others, everyone faces challenges in life that can impact their mental health. After all, just a few months ago, none of us had any idea that all our worlds would be upended by the coronavirus, and that worry, isolation, loneliness, depression and anxiety would become collective experiences shared by literally everyone. By virtue of our birthright, as human beings none of us are immune.  Perhaps this collective experience of living with the emotional and psychological impacts brought on by COVID will help cultivate not only more awareness of mental health issues, but more compassion too. One can hope. According to a 2017 Centers for Disease Control report, suicide was the tenth leading cause of death overall in the United States, claiming the lives of nearly 47,000 people. Suicide was the second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10 and 34, and the fourth leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 35 and 54. There were more than twice as many suicides in the United States as there were homicides.

Therefore mental health is very important and we should do our part by talking to others and listening to the ones in need of it.

Are Our Defences To Fight Against Virus… working?

We all are suffering a crisis, and it does a little by avoiding it. With the vaccines still being months away, our only means of protection are a few only a few things which we can do. But…are they even helping us?

No offence, but my motive in no way is to scare you out and blabber about how the world has become so cruel. No. Just no. The main motive of writing is just so that you  start to be aware of certain things. This makes you buy things in an effective manner without turning a blind eye on anything.

So,what does our defence involve? Okay…let’s see..

  1. Gloves(although they don’t last too long)
  2. Mask(please let your mask stay where it is supposed to be!)
  3. Sanitizers (at least they don’t have anything wrong with them….right?)

There are many more things like the suit in which you look like a lab surgeon etc. Trust me the situation is not to be laughed at. But we can rarely do something when the situation is so sensitive. And while you are out there battling this calamity every single day,why not make it a tinsy bit brighter!

Anyways, though the things which we think ought to protect us,you might want to recheck some products out of them

  • Gloves

What is the sole purpose of gloves? Well,so that the microbe does not make any contact with our hands. But it’s true that the microbe makes contact with the gloves.  This makes it just like our hands, doesn’t it? Unless you sanitize your gloves regularly. See,gloves are useful so that our hands don’t come  in contact with the microbe. But you have to keep in mind that you should avoid any contact of the gloves with your skin.

  • Masks

What could possibly be wrong with masks? Safety masks are supposed to make it so that you do not get the microbe into your body, and as the medium we are dealing with is air, masks are used. But masks are for your safety, not so that you choke yourself. Meaning, buying expensive masks and a normal mask, both work for the sole cause,to protect you. And wearing a mask to cover your chin will not possibly make you safe.

  • Sanitizers

Sanitizers are used so that the microbe does not remain on the surface. But the contents in the sanitizers are very important to check. To kill a microbe,a sanitizer must contain about 75 to 80% of ethanol, commonly known as spirit. Ethanol in the Sanitizers is what kills the microbes. But some sanitizers have something called methanol in their sanitizers . Why is methanol? Methanol is commonly known as wood alcohol, and if a sanitizer has any methanol in it,it can potentially be fatal to you. Methanol basically makes your skin really dehydrated and dry and may cause something called dermatitis(skin irritation). The symptoms of metabolism poisoning are as follows:

  1. Nausea
  2. Vomiting
  3. Dizz
  4. Disturbance in your vision
  5. Headache
  6. Unconsciousness
  7. Weakness in body

Now,if you have any of the following symptoms, don’t go running to your doctor. Methanol poisoning maybe one of the factors which are probably making your body react in such a way. If you face by of these problems, first go around and see whether your sanitizer includes any percent of methanol in it. If so, immediately stop the usage of such sanitizers. Even if they are expensive, they are not more than your health. But really,do we even know  the things which are added to the sanitizers which are labelled even genuine? Which is why,do make sure of the contents in the sanitizers.

You might be wondering,’why is the writer writing these types of articles now…? ‘You see,for a long time I have been brushing off any topics which relate to our present conditions, but at some point of time  I have realised that brushing off things will not make them disappear. Sooner or later,we just have to face them. So..just wanted to clear that.

I do not blame the system, they are doing wonders out there, but one should always remain alert if anybody is scamming with your money and conning you with their words.

Anyhow,we sort of have adapted ourselves to these conditions and probably will learn to find the fun in this as well!!

Fact: Suppose if you are in contact with a particular microbe for a certain amount of time, your body learns to get immune to the microbe itself! Which means, even if the microbe does enter your body, the body already knows how to kill it!

Don’t let yourself to be driven by Social Media

Educational News

In the present day times, where the social media has entered the lives of the people so deeply, it becomes very important for an individual to must check that what they are watching whether it is correct on not and whether it is beneficial or harmful for them.

Each day hundreds of messages and news come to a person having an android phone through social media. There are silly forwarded messages some spreading hate and some spreading terror. On the other hand, some messages will literally cry to get forwarded to be at least 15 to 30 people, then only the wish of the person(who’ll be sending the messages) will come true and something good will happen. Whereas, some messages, will give compel you to forward the message, as you love your family and friends. These days social media has become an ultimate way to transfer the garbage of someone’s brain into your brain and ultimately ruin your day and your lovely mood.

Sometimes, when one opens chrome there are some suggestive news below the search button. In the name of providing similar relatable news as per the liking of the user, the browsers have made it so monotonous. Vital news which is itself so important for the nation and its subjects, it is generally not shown to the people. One has to spend hours searching and scrolling for the news which is important.

Not only offline, but there are some online newspapers being read by most of the population, which actually don’t post the exact news describing the situation but there are again changes into the real news in the name of editing and freedom of expression. And in this mean process, the gist of the news gets lost and the news becomes something totally different. For instance it’s like a Gulaab Jamun with no sugar in it at all. And when that happens, it is not Gulaab Jamun at all. But a person who doesn’t knows about the absence of sugar in it, will consume it assuming it to be normal Gulaab Jamun and at a later stage the person will be able to know that what he consumed was not a proper Gulaab Jamun.

The author after this sweet example believes that it must be clear that whatever is being published is not the same as the actual thing. Let’s move further a bit more to realize that how social media controls the life of a person.

There are a number of posts on social networking sites making a particular religion and group of people so naïve, so innocent that all the torture is being done by the entire nation on that community, that religion. But the truth is all well known to the subjects of the nation. To the people who entirely believe the news shown through social media, it is harmful for them because they will carry a bad image for a particular community. In the name Secularism, people are taking the nation and its ethics for granted and spread hate between the citizens of the country.

And also there are some particular slangs being used for the people LGBTQ community and are used without any hitch in social media by silly people for creating a bad image in the minds of the people of the Nation. The opportunists make their way by utilizing different opportunities for crying out their so called pain and for a better reach; they use social media and pollute it.

And also the present government too is responsible for such a situation when so called foreign websites and apps are just crushing the dreams of the youth, the future of the nation. The easy availability of porn and other related materials is actually a very big threat for the nation’s future. It is a full planned mechanism to destroy the youth (the future of the nation) and the force on the borders (the present of the nation).

The readers are expected to distinguish and watch only that news which is important in the growth of the nation. Take good messages and news into the brain. Don’t let any person sitting miles away to make a fool out of you and choose what is important for you and for the mankind.

The pressure of being extraordinary and it’s affect.

3 idiot was not only an iconic movie on a very good content but it has many dialogue that hit or felt by everyone. And one of the most famous dialogue goes “Life is a race, agar tezz nhi bhago ge to koi kuchal ke aage chala jayega”. Let’s talk about that.

I want to be a very a good writer, singer, actor, or anything else. We use to say this when we were a kid, yeah! we were a kid. Because now it’s not like ” I want to be very good” it is like, I want to be the only good. And that perfectly explain,we are now grown up. There’s nothing bad in it, but, we lost that touch of goodness inside us.

No matter how good you do your work, there is someone who does better then you. Like there’s an axe for every tree. You can’t be the only one among the crowd. There will be someone better then you. And it is not like you Don’t know that, still you are not able to accept that. That’s the main problem. And you are a part of this society. What you think is what this society get build.

Becoming an extraordinary among ordinary. This is the final goal of every single one. But, you know what, you personally never dreamed of this. It is what society gives you. It is what only society praise. This is what happens when you live in a society which sucks.

Being an excellent version in your field is not wrong, but, asking every one to be that is. We all know that every human has a same ear, eyes , brain, and other body parts. Still, there are some who are born or living there live without them. Same way it is not right to ask two brain to perform in the same manner because they can’t.

Just like asking elephant to swim because a fish can. We live in a society which runs behind those things which is already done and try to improvise it every time. Like a sheep in a crowd and still hate to call themself a sheep.

If only a person get appreciated for there work without comparing from others. Then this society will improve. When there is a comparison in self rather then doing it with others. Then only this society is going to improvise. Actually this society want to be perfect society. And there can’t be any perfection if you can’t accept the flaws. Because flaws are part of you. They exist in you.

So, tell me what do you think about this in the comment section bellow.

See yaa..

Earphones and Headphones….are harmful?

In our lives, we use earphones/headphones at many occasion. For ex. An virtual meeting, music, while talking to someone etc. But do we know the detrimental effects of this careless habit. Not really…. But awareness can make one more alert and watchful .So let’s  understand, what makes the earphones so harmful!

  • How is it harmful ?

If you visualise, just think about an object, which is rarely cleaned or disinfected. What is likely to happen? Well, obviously it will start to grow microbe if it is in contact with what the microbe needs to breed. Now, we don’t know if the microbe growing is a pathogen or not. There may be a chance that they are harmless but the possibility is so less, that it can be counted as non-existent. Similarly, earphones/headphones are in contact with our body for most of the time. If it is in contact with our body, surely micro organisms are prone to grow. Eventually leading to uncomfortable problems like rashes, ear pains etc. Micro organisms are no creatures to play with. What makes it even more harmful is, we don’t even know what type of microbe it is. We can’t even assume because there are so many pathogens that could be residing  in your ear itself. And we have a really bad habit of sharing earphones. Even if it’s your loved ones, diseases do not see that. By sharing earphones, You’re practically transmitting the disease yourself and that would not be good.

Earphones/headphones, if used for long durations of time may result in induced or permanent hearing loss. Now the problem is, the  microphone has a direct contact to your ear. Your ear is a very sensitive part of your body and it’s a vital organ. It consists of 3 parts, namely – 1. The outer ear 2. The middle ear 3. The inner ear.  You might have noticed  some hairs in your ears. It is called the cochlea.  It is present in the part of the inner ear. Now, cochlea is a very important structure. Basically, the cochlea sends  signals from the outside environment to the brain  by vibrating, due to which we hear and make sense of what we hear. Sort of connects the outer world to our brain in the medium of sound. Prolonged duration of using earphones (when I am writing only earphones, do note to add headphones as well!) makes the cochlea to vibrate exorbitantly and the cochlea can seriously lose the sensitivity to vibrations. Unlike other parts of your body, your ear doesn’t have the ability to regenerate itself. Which makes curing it even harder.  Listening, with high volume makes the condition worse. Your ears don’t have a choice but to respond to that noise, even if it makes the cochlea die and never recover. This is why one often experiences ear pains after prolonged periods of using earphones.

  • What is More harmful?

Alright, the usage of earphones and headphones is harmful. But which is more harmful?… earphones are. In the case of headphones, you still have some space between your device and your ear,but in earphones or an earpiece, which makes a direct contact by being plugged inside your ears, has a greater Impact. Probably intensifies the sound by 6 to 7 decibels ( a unit through which the intensity of sound is measured). It cannot be said that headphones don’t have any ham, though. As headphones have a greater area, the amount of microbe breeding also, could be greater..

Okay, it is harmful to use  earphones carelessly. But…what possible problems can even occur by this? Nothing serious……right? According to ColumbiaAsia Hospitals, there is a probability that following problems can happen-

  1. NHL- Noise induced hearing (NHL) is when one experiences a temporary loss of hearing, due to  extended time periods of using earphones.
  2. Tinnitus- When the cochlea(hair cells) is damaged, one can experience some buzzing or ringing noise in their ears. This condition is called Tinnitus.
  3.  Hyperacusis- A condition where one tends to be sensitive to the noise produced by the environment.
  4. Dizziness- Increase of pressure in the ear canal leads to dizziness.

These are a few of them. Ears are counted in one of the sensory organs. With that being said, the ears are extremely sensitive. An ear is not made of bones but  cartilage. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to twist your ears as you please. Cartilage can be described as a gel-like  substance acting like a connective tissue.

Take a while to remember to clean the outer ears properly and regularly. Ear wax (cerumen) is present in your skin to moisturize the dry skin. So not try to deliberately remove it, especially using a  cotton swab. It only makes the earwax to go nearer towards the inner ear.

Avoid extended periods of using earphones/headphones. One can use the trick to not use the volume beyond 60 decibels. And let the time period to use an earphone be 60 minutes. Prefer using the speaker rather than microphone(let the others be annoyed😉). And regularly sanitize or disinfect the earphones and headphones. Yes, it will be a pain. But it ‘ll  be worth it!

And do not worry. There is always a cure if the right moderation a are used. If you experience any of the above symptoms for a constant period of time. Immediate consultancy to the doctor is advisable.

It’s Alzheimer’s Month

Dementia is an umbrella term for several diseases affecting memory, other cognitive abilities, and behavior that interfere significantly with someone’s ability to maintain their activities of daily living. These functions include memory, language skills, visual perception, problem-solving, self-management, and the ability to focus and pay attention. Some people with dementia cannot control their emotions, and their personalities may change. Dementia ranges in severity from the mildest stage, when it is just beginning to affect a person’s functioning, to the most severe stage, when the person must depend completely on others for basic activities of living. Although age is the most known risk factor for dementia, it is not a normal part of aging.

Fifty million people worldwide currently live with dementia, a condition that causes significant psychological burden as well as social and financial distress to those living with it, their carers, and families. There are nearly 10 million new cases every year. Two in three people with dementia live in low- and middle-income countries.

There is often a lack of awareness and understanding of dementia, resulting in stigmatization and barriers to diagnosis and care. The impact of dementia on carers, family, and society at large can be physical, psychological, social, and economical.

There are many different forms of dementia. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form and may contribute to 60–70% of cases. Other major forms include vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies (abnormal aggregates of protein that develop inside nerve cells), and a group of diseases that contribute to frontotemporal dementia (degeneration of the frontal lobe of the brain). The boundaries between different forms of dementia are indistinct and mixed forms often co-exist.

There is no treatment currently available to cure dementia or to alter its progressive course. Numerous new treatments are being investigated in various stages of clinical trials. The principal goals for dementia care are:

1.Early diagnosis to promote early and optimal management

The early stage of dementia is often overlooked, because the onset is gradual. Common symptoms include: forgetfulness, losing track of the time and becoming lost in familiar places.

2.Optimizing physical health, cognition, activity and well-being

As dementia progresses to the middle stage, the signs and symptoms become clearer and more restricting. These include:

  • becoming forgetful of recent events and people’s names
  • becoming lost at home
  • having increasing difficulty with communication
  • needing help with personal care
  • experiencing behaviour changes, including wandering and repeated questioning.

3.Identifying and treating accompanying physical illness

The late stage of dementia is one of near total dependence and inactivity. Memory disturbances are serious and the physical signs and symptoms become more obvious. Symptoms include:

  • becoming unaware of the time and place
  • having difficulty recognizing relatives and friends
  • having an increasing need for assisted self-care
  • having difficulty walking
  • experiencing behaviour changes that may escalate and include aggression.

4.Detecting and treating challenging behavioural and psychological symptoms

The following are used to temporarily improve dementia symptoms.

  • Cholinesterase inhibitors. These medications — including donepezil (Aricept), rivastigmine (Exelon) and galantamine (Razadyne) — work by boosting levels of a chemical messenger involved in memory and judgment.
  • Side effects can include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Other possible side effects include slowed heart rate, fainting and sleep disturbances.
  • Memantine. Memantine (Namenda) works by regulating the activity of glutamate, another chemical messenger involved in brain functions, such as learning and memory. In some cases, memantine is prescribed with a cholinesterase inhibitor.
  • A common side effect of memantine is dizziness.
  • Other medications. Your doctor might prescribe medications to treat other symptoms or conditions, such as depression, sleep disturbances, hallucinations, parkinsonism or agitation.

Several dementia symptoms and behavior problems might be treated initially using non drug approaches, such as:

  • Occupational therapy. An occupational therapist can show you how to make your home safer and teach coping behaviors. The purpose is to prevent accidents, such as falls; manage behavior; and prepare you for the dementia progression.
  • Modifying the environment. Reducing clutter and noise can make it easier for someone with dementia to focus and function. You might need to hide objects that can threaten safety, such as knives and car keys. Monitoring systems can alert you if the person with dementia wanders.
  • Simplifying tasks. Break tasks into easier steps and focus on success, not failure. Structure and routine also help reduce confusion in people with dementia.

5.Providing information and long-term support to carers.

Dementia symptoms and behavior problems will progress over time. Caregivers might try the following suggestions:

· Enhance communication

· Encourage exercise

· Engage in activity

· Establish a nighttime ritual

· Keep a calendar

· Plan for the future

· Learn as much as you can about memory loss and dementia.

World Alzheimer’s Month is the international campaign to raise awareness about dementia. September 2020 will mark the 9th World Alzheimer’s Month.

MENTAL HEALTH SHOULD BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY.

So whenever we feel like oh! I need to maintain my physical fitness, get a new fit look. The first solution that comes into our mind is, I should hit the gym, but have we ever thought about how to maintain our mental health? Mostly the answer will be no. What’s the big deal about it and many people presume that the person is just overthinking. Practically speaking often if we’ll tell our Indian parents that we are depressed they’ll just ask us to stay away from electronic devices which is partly true and then they will just ignore it. Looking after mental wellness can preserve a person’s ability to enjoy life. Although the word mental health is generally used, many conditions that specialists acknowledge as psychological troubles have physical reasons. Conditions such as depression, stress, substance abuse, anxiety, are certain forms of mental illness.

According to WHO “Mental health is a state of well-being in which an individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.” Certain factors that cause mental distress are weak social or economic status, occupation, education, gender, etc. that later turn into much more serious issues. Another instance is having a gene with ties to a mental health disorder, such as depression or schizophrenia, which does not guarantee that a condition will develop. As mental and physical health is interlinked these mental health issues can affect life-changing physical health problems, such as diabetes, cancer, chronic pain, etc.

Different types of mental disorders are Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD) which normally occurs to a person who experiences or witnesses a deeply stressful or traumatic event. They are under constant fear that their life is in danger. Mood Disorders such as Major Depression in which a person deals with a constant low mood and loses interest in activities and events that they previously enjoyed. They can feel the increased duration of sorrow or intense grief and Bipolar Disorder person experiences extreme variations in their mood, force levels, levels of activity, and capacity to proceed with daily life.  Schizophrenia in which the person may also find it hard to process information, withdrawal, delusions, hallucinations, absence of motivation, etc. Panic disorders in which an individual experiences frequent panic seizures, which involve overwhelming terror or a feeling of looming tragedy and death. Anxiety disorder in which an individual is excessively worried or in constant fear and symptoms of anxiety are restlessness, exhaustion, stiff muscle, interrupted sleep, etc.

In today’s era where people are busy with their packed schedules and don’t have time for themselves. Pollution and radiation from electronics are added reason which causes mental agony. Visiting a Psychologist is necessary and there is nothing to be ashamed of it. A person coping with mental health challenges will have to make changes to their lifestyle. Such changes might include no alcohol intake, relaxing more, and having a well-balanced, nutritious diet. Taking some time away from things or matter that is making a person feel low. Practicing relaxation techniques, meditation, yoga. Having a support network, either through self-help groups or close friends and parents, can also be vital to the cure of mental illness.

Child Labor – That can be your child too

Article by – Shishir Tripathi
Intern at Hariyali foundation in collaboration with Educational News

Every child has the right to live a beautiful childhood filled with a lot of memories of laughter, enjoyment and mischief. It is basically a very lovely process of modeling an infant into a responsible, smart, endearing, productive and a well developed human being. At this tender age, proper nurturing of a kid is really important. A child demands attention, love, care and a hand above his head that will protect him from all the adversities and problems in life.

But not every kid is blessed to have a childhood as described above. According to UNICEF and ILO, the total number of children engaged in child labor, within the age group 5-17 in the year 2013, is 168 million.

Talking about India itself becomes far more essential and sensible too, when one is living in India. According to 2011 census, out of 259.64 billion children, 10.1 million children were working as child laborers within the age group of 5-17.

The constitution of India in the Fundamental rights and the Directive Principles of State Policy prohibits child labor in any mine or factory or castle or engaged in any other hazardous employment.

The Child Labor Prohibition and Prevention Act was passed on 23 December, 1986. Further in 2016, certain amendments were made in the act. The amendment has introduced the concept of adolescent labor for the first time. An adolescent has been defined as a person between the ages of 14-18 years. The amendment permits employment of adolescent labor except in hazardous processes or occupation. The number of hazardous occupations and processes has been reduced from 83 to only 3. The offences under the Act have now been made compoundable and cognizable notwithstanding the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code. The Child Labor Act provides for rehabilitation of children and adolescent who have been victims under the provisions of the Child Labor Act. It provides for setting up of the Child and Adolescent Labor Rehabilitation Fund in which all the amounts of penalty have to be realized. Liability has been affixed upon the parents and guardian of the affected child/children separately from the employers. The Act provides for increased penalty and imprisonment which shall not be less than 6 months and may extend up to 2 years and fine which may vary between Rs.20, 000 to Rs. 50,000.

Despite all this, incidents of child thefts are increasing day by day. Very few of those get rescued by Police. The others, where do they go, what they do, how do they live, are all unanswered questions to the families and the society.

But deep down everyone knows that those missing children are the ones cleaning dirty utensils in the roadside dhabas and in the fancy restaurants of city too. They are forced to do begging, they are made physically handicapped, they are brutally beaten and even exploited sexually. They are sent to abroad to work in mines, and do child labor. They are sold as servants to the so called big people and they even face trafficking basically meant for their sexual exploitation.

According to the latest data from National Crime Records Bureau, 63,407 children went missing in 2016 in India. On an average, 174 children in India go missing per day.

All over the world, children are being exploited through child labor. This mentally and physically dangerous work interferes with schooling and long-term development. Innocent little children are thrown into such a hazardous world that put them at the risk of getting a disease, being physically handicapped and simply death.

A child needs love. Love by his family, and the society. He has full right to live an amazing childhood and the right to cherish memories to be made with family and school too. Several NGOs are working to prevent children from child labor and providing them the right childhood by the means of either sending them to their real parents or in some cases adoption.

Through this article just carry one lesson with yourself that a small attempt by your side to stop child labor can help a child living a beautiful childhood and hence a beautiful life.

Whenever one witnesses a child being engaged in child labor, or finds a missing child, they must report the police station or call the helpline 1098.

A missing child is a parent’s worst nightmare. He or she can be your child too.

Hence, wake up and stand boldly against Child Labor.

Sex…Still a taboo?..

SEX…Oops!. I broke the stereotype of running away from this topic. Yes, even we are 130 crore population but ironically sex is still a taboo here. Generations after generations, we’ve been running from talking about sex, neither grandparents told this to our parents nor they tell us. Even a condom advertisement on the television make us feel uncomfortable just because we never talked about it. Sex is still a curiosity for a teenager. When parents and even teachers keep this as a secret, it adds into the curiosity. When a human hits puberty, it’s normal that he/she gets attracted to opposite sex, harmones rule them in this age. But the thing is nobody know the real science. So porn which is abundantly available on the internet becomes the saviour. These innocent teenagers go through such stuff and then they start exploring. The tag “relationship”works in the name of exploring the opposite sex and our body needs. In this cyclone of curiosity, things go beyond limit at times. Now the blame game begins, because whoever accepts sex as a need will be called characterless by the society. This goes to heartbreaks and emotional breakdowns. But they forget that their partner is of the same age and also learning things as you are. Now the society “4 log” will come into the picture. Everyone will judge you by all means and you’ll also try to prove partner guilty in the fear of society. The thing is these 4 long don’t even care. Our loved ones, family and friends will stay by our side.
Now here’s my question, can this be avoided?
Yes, together we can. Instead of running away from it, lets talk about it. Let’s educate ourselves and the upcoming generations rather than protest after something bad happens. Let’s not hesitate, let’s educate!…

Anger management

Getting angry on someone is the most easiest thing because it almost happens all the time. Can we control anger? Can we stop before we get it? Anger is a sudden reaction of the pressure inside that occurred due to disagreement of your opinion. Anger has a great impact because we speak without control. Words that come out of our mouth were actually came from our heart. Usually people hide the true opinions and try to fake friendships. But due to this sudden process the opinion of us over others comes out in a sudden manner.

Things done can never be undone so think before you do. Thinking about done doesn’t erase done. Neither can we change the past not set the future. So think about present because it’s the only thing that’s in our control. May be I can modify the sentence as present is also not in our hands atleast we have a feel that it’s in our control. The feel of real is not real but we are atmost in real. It gives us confidence and hope of our chances to change our present. Going with the flow is a old phrase which makes our lives flow like a wave in a sea. Have focus because its something that stops us from making something. Our conscience reacts only when it’s emergency, so depending on it is not trustworthy.

Have a clarity over your doing. Anger can’t be stopped from getting started. But we can decrease the intensity. We don’t know the initial point of the anger when it’s about to start. But we can remember it only after the incident. So try to stop the origin isn’t in our hands because it happens all of sudden and we don’t have control over it. So try to save ourselves from becoming worse is the only option left with us. We get to know about ourself at the time of anger. We need to control ourselves by shifting our thought to some other thoughts.

Manage your anger by thinking of something else and let your brian think in different direction. Have a shift over your thoughts and manage your anger. Don’t try to stop anger because you can’t stop it. Try to control the intense when you have conscience over your doing. It decreases the intense of your anger and thereby letting you mange your anger.

Improve your mindfulness!

How are you coping nowadays? Is everything going according to what you have planned? Or are you making the efforts to change your ways?

COVID-19 has surely changed our way of living life, doing business and definitely changed our perception of life. Our body was programmed to wake up in the morning, doing personal work, dressing up and heading for work, returning to our loved ones and spending time with our families. But now we wake up and we feel like we are running in circles. Waking up and trying to do everything at one go, with overloaded information and then there is a huge feeling of procrastination and it seems like everything is taking a toll on our mind. Nowadays we are always feeling like doing “more” and “better”, and that too in a very short span of time. Now there is no harm is trying to do more and in a better way, but there should be a pause on this. Our mind is taking its own time to adapt to this drastic change and we should be patient enough to give time to our mind.

Study reveals that it is very crucial to practice and imbibe mindfulness so that we do not feel stressed and depressed. Now is the time, more than ever when such a practice can improve us and make us feel alive more than ever.

Are we taking mental health like a serious issue or we are pretending

With the demise of Bollywood celebrity Sushant Singh Rajput, the youth of India started a social war against the nepotism in Bollywood but are they really worried about the mental well being or they just trying to be more popular on the social media platform as they are not only criticizing but also abusing the star kids.in many ways, they are crossing their limits. Before we discuss mental well being we should try to understand what happened with Sushant Singh Rajput.

As we all know he was an established actor in the Bollywood fraternity so he was not only capable of fulfilling his basic needs but also he could afford the desires many people will dream of. So from this, we can figure that mental health has no connection with the amount of money a person possesses. One can have either happy or sad irrespective of how well they are doing in their respective field. Sadness can’t be the criteria to measure persons mental stability as it’s only an emotion that must be shared.

The main problem arises when one person stops sharing their emotions with anyone else. By doing this he or she can only create a burden on themselves. So whatever one feels one should have somebody to share with and if one doesn’t have anyone he can consult a psychotherapist.

If you are reading it till now I hope I have given a lot of information on mental well being to clear your mindset about what happened with Sushant. Now coming to the main motive of writing this whole article is to help all of you giving some clarity with what you all are doing right now with some celebrity kids.

Is it right to troll someone so badly for someone death?

As the memers and many social media influencers are taking a bash on all celebrity by taking small parts of their previous videos to show how they treated Sushant but when one watches the whole video they will find that what context the video was made at that point of times is drastically different. Now by abusing many celebrities like Karan Johar, Sonam Kapoor they are damaging their mental piece.

So isn’t the youth of the nation is doing the same they are protesting against just keep it in mind if any of them try to do what Sushant did. Will be it right on our part.

I want to ask a question. Be truthful to yourself. Is all of you agree with me that to troll someone to that extent is totally unfair or not? Many will agree with me that it is drastically wrong or vice verse. My only motive to write this article is to make all of you aware that there is a very thin line between criticism and abuse. We all are unfortunate that we lost the gem-like Sushant Singh Rajput from the industry. But the only thing we can do from our part by promoting real talent like Sushant Singh Rajput. It will definitely make a change in the industry when we take our step forward in supporting real talent.

Definition: The quality of being conscious of one’s own feelings and character.

Self-awareness is a person’s knowledge of themselves and their worth as a person.

Self-awareness involves being aware of different aspects of the self, including traits, behaviors, and feelings. Essentially, it is a psychological state in which oneself becomes the focus of attention.

Self-awareness represents the capacity of becoming the object of one’s own attention. In this state one actively identifies, processes, and stores information about the self. This paper surveys the self-awareness literature by emphasizing definition issues, measurement techniques, effects and functions of self-attention, and antecedents of self-awareness. Key self-related concepts (e.g., minimal, reflective consciousness) are distinguished from the central notion of self- awareness. Reviewed measures include questionnaires, implicit tasks, and self recognition. Main effects and functions of self-attention consist in self-evaluation, escape from the self, and amplification of one’s subjective experience, increased self-knowledge, self-regulation, and inferences about others’ mental states (Theory-of-Mind). A neurocognitive and socio-ecological model of self-awareness is described in which the role of face-to-face interactions, reflected appraisals, mirrors, media, inner speech, imagery, autobiographical knowledge, and neurological structures is underlined.

An Unexpected Guest

Don’t you find it a bit ironic that India is a country where women have no reproductive rights yet our nation is known worldwide for the Taj Mahal, a monument breathing the story of a queen who lost her life at the altar of her childbirth?

Today, the number of teenage girls popping the easily procured abortion pills, away from the knowing and reproachful eyes of their parents, is alarming. Buried under their winter jackets, they don’t even realize that a baby is growing.

guestTeenage pregnancy usually tends to occur within marriages, more often than not, set up by the parents of adolescents. On the other hand, some cases are the result of teenagers engaging in unprotected sex simply because they were not aware of the consequences or how to deal with them.

Either way, their ignorance leads them to get an abortion in a later stage which is not the ideal scenario, either for the baby or for the mother. In many cases, the complications are such that only one of them could be saved, putting the families in a position of dilemma and jeopardizing the futures of many. Here are a few measures to make people understand the consequences of teen pregnancy.

  1. Have ‘The Talk’

It is no secret that many parents in Indian society believe that talking about sex is a hushed or taboo topic. This ends up in many teenagers getting their share of knowledge from the internet, a place where most of the facts about this are misguiding and misleading, ending up in them having unprotected sex. If you are a parent, sit down with your children and let them know about this natural process, about their bodies. Since it is coming from a trusted source, they will be encouraged to ask their doubts and share their insecurities. This will help them in making an informed choice about their future.

  1. Know your Child

A parent’s duties involve fending for their children and to provide for them until they come of a certain age. This also includes protecting them from the evils of the world. Know who are your children’s closest friends and other people in their social circle. Try to keep a healthy atmosphere in your home and have open communication with your children so that they never have to lie about their whereabouts. Parenting is a two-way relationship; understand your children’s needs and try to help them cope up with their difficulties.

  1. guest2Sex Ed Classes

School is the place where you go to learn. If they can teach you your History and Math, then why not your Biology too? There should be a special Sex Education class for adolescents where they are taught about their bodies and the role they play in reproduction in detail. Students should be taught about the consequences of having sex including the diseases and made aware of all the birth control methods available to them. Counselors should be made available to the students, aiding and guiding them in times of crisis.

After all, awareness is the key to prevention.

What we don’t know about Ocean?

Ocean cover 70 % of Earth’s surface and still we human know more about the surface of the mars than Earth’s oceans, but just about time scientist our making progress but there is still lot of work in targeting the fully-mapping of Earth’s Ocean. The Seabed 2030 Project launched in 2017 have made a progress , the scientist have successfully mapped 19 percent of the Earth’s ocean. The GEBCO_2019 Grid was the first global bathymetric grid released which remarkably collected depth data of 5.6 million squares for the seabed 2030 project. The project is a collaboration between the Nippon Foundation of Japan and GEBCO. This initiative has been assisted by 133 contributors, and partners. The seabed project 2030 target to generate the definite map of the earth oceans so that it can be available to all.

However ,the fulfillment of this project would improve the human understanding about the Earth’s ocean all together with tides and tsunami and even it help in underlying data cables evidently improving data access for everyone .

Let’s start exploring the facts about Earth’s oceans which might you don’t know.

Internet |Undersea Cable

Since most of you might not know that 99 % of International data is transferred by wires at the bottom of the ocean surface.Recently ,Google has announced about its third private undersea internet cable network which will run between Europe and Africa.

Gold in the Ocean

It might make you surprise that according to National Ocean Service, Earth’s oceans hold somewhat about 20 million pounds of gold, but you fortunate to take it since it so diluted that it’s measured in parts per trillion. For over a years scientist are trying to find a way to extract gold from sea water but everything has proven to be pointless.

Marine Life

Marine life is still unexplored by humans .We have only explored 10% of marine life.An estimated 50-80% of all life on earth is found under the Earth’s ocean surface .But there’s a progress ,on average 2000 species are found every year.

Tsunami

Tsunami is a series of wave produced by an underwater earthquake .In 2004 ,Tsunami takes way 230,000 lives in a matter of hours. This was the deadliest tsunami ever experienced .

Ocean helps us breathe

Over more than half of the oxygen come from Earth’s ocean .That’s right .Every time we breathe we should thank oxygen Since 70 percent of the oxygen in atmosphere come from arine photosynthesizers , like phytoplankton and seaweed.

Ocean is really very very deep than that we imagine

The average ocean depth is 2.3 miles. The deepest part of the ocean is known as Challenger Deep and is located below the western Pacific Ocean in the southern end of the Mariana Trench.Challenger Deep is approximately 36,200 feet deep.

In last i want to say save the ocean.Don’t forget it provide to oxygen to survive and they contain 97% of water and moreover it take carbon dioxide from atmosphere hence reduce risk of climate change .To live we need healthy oceans. We have to take precautionary measure from our side.Unfortunately people are becoming careless, over 50% of sea turtles found dead because they are eating lot of plastic .If we want to save marine life ,stop using plastic.Even your small steps will altogether help to make a big change .Encourage your friends and family to help in saving the oceans.
